Preferred Solution: New hardware found on startup, cant find drivers..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: New hardware found on startup, cant find drivers..

Every time I start the PC now, on Startup I get "New Hardware found Wizard: PCI Device" and everything is already installed! It wont go away, even if I click cancel. I know I can disable Plug and Play, but dont want to do that (not good)

How can I get rid of this stupid thing.

The only PCI Devices I have are the Graphics and Sound, and the Drivers are installed, and yes, I have reinstalled both of them

Answer:New Hardware Found Wizard won't go away on startup.

maybe something is still on in BIOS? check there
you could always turn off the service, but you might miss something important

I have an Acer Travelmate 5520 laptop running Windows XP SP3 and everytime it boots up I get the Welcome to the Found New Harware Wizard window appear and it says it needs to install a Mass Storage Controller. I have nothing plugged into any USB ports apart from a USB wireless mouse transmitter/receiver. The problem started happening sometime ago. Even if I tell the Wizard to get the appropriate software it is unable to find any. I end up clicking Cancel to get rid of the message. The laptop continues to complete the startup normally. I have tried everything I know (which probably isnt much). Can anyone give me an idiots guide to fixing this issue? Any help would be much appreciated as this problem seems to considerable slow up the startup process.

PS I have just gone through the Malware Removal procedure and it has not fixed my problem.

When I bought my new PC, I discovered that no XP software disc was available for my Brother printer. Brother kindly sent me a floppy disc with drivers that was to be used for installation instead of the CD ROM that came with it.This gives me reasonable use, although not all the features. The problem I have is the series of annoying pop-ups that continually tell me that "New Hardware Found" and asking me to access the internet. This PC has no internet connection and, anyway, the drivers given to me by Brother are all there is on the net.Can anyone tell me how to disable this annoying warning, please? There is no option on the warning message.

my astranet ia101 scanner has a problem. i need to reinstall it to my pc, because of a hard drive crash and the techs had to wipe and reformat my drive, so i have to put everything back on it. i have reinstalled it before many times with no problem, but this time for some reason, my computer won't find the device driver for it now. i installed it with my disc that came with the scanner, and i also tried with a download from the umax website. when i restart my pc, windows recognizes that there is new hardware, but cannot find the driver. when i click on the vistascan icon, it tries to find it, but says, error, scanner access failed. everytime i run the windows add hardware wizard, it says cannot locate drivers for the scanner. the windows hardware wizard always asks me to put the windows 98 cd in, but the drivers aren't there. they are on the scanner cd and on my computer somewhere. after i installed the vistascan from the disc, it said successful install. the vista shuttle and the copy utility are fine- just the vista scan. how do i solve this? i have windows 98 on my pc.

Hello all

I received noticed of a new update for my GPU. Normally I click 'custom install' as to avoid installing any of the 3D drivers since I had no need for them.

Without thinking, I hit 'express install' and ended up installing all of the new drivers. After the install was complete, I went to manually uninstall the drivers I did not need.

I ended up uninstalling the wrong driver, and now my GPU will no longer display. I plugged into my motherboard directly, which is how I can see my display.

I went back to NVIDIA to try and install the drivers, but I get an error message during the install phase that "the graphics driver could not find the compatible graphics hardware".

I went back to NVIDIA's website to try and install the oldest drivers I could after receiving this message, but I am met with the same thing.

The last thing I did was go into my Device Manager -> Display Adapters in hopes that it would be there so I could reset it, but it's not showing up there either.

Any help would be appreciated.

PC with Windows ME. When instaling new hardware, system searches for drivers and frequently fails to find them, apparently because it is looking in the directory. For example, I was installing a USB linked magnetic card reader and the following message appeared in a window headed 'New Hardware Found'."File USBNTMAP.SYS was not foundWindows needs the disk labelled Windows Millenium Edition to continue. This disk may be provided by your computer or device manufacturer.Copy files from C:|Program files\Creative\....."If I then use the browse button to point the system at C:\Windows\system32\driversit sometimes works, and anyway the files it is looking for are invariably some within the Windows directory. Is there any way I can get the system to look in the right place automatically in stead of looking in the Creative soundblaster directory for a standard Windows ME driver??!!??Any help will be gratefully received.MJ

Answer:New hardware instal fails to find drivers

sorry i dont know why its not working.i would download them from the manufacturers website that way you will get the latest version of the driver.the ones on the disc will be out of date.

So, my computer suddenly started finding a handful of devices it can't find drivers for. I didn't add any new hardware. After trying all I could think of I resorted to trying a clean install. Sadly that did not help.

Can someone advise me on where to begin to diagnose this problem? Obviously I'm not very experienced with this.

I'm sure you'll need more information to truly help with this, but I'm not sure what to provide or how to obtain it.

Answer:No new hardware, can't find drivers even after clean install

Please provide more information. What do you mean your system is finding devices for which it can't find drivers? Please explain IN DETAIL.

Also, after the clean install did you download and install the chipset driver followed by all other appropriate drivers? Look in device manager - any yellow or red symbols?

Hello. I have an issue that it is been concerning and annoying for over the past week. This references or relates to my security software BitDefender Internet Security 2010. (Oh, I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, basically Windows XP Professional.) I have been communicating for a week now with them and all communication has stopped within the last few days with their Senior level Tech Support. I think I have them completely stumped as they are not responding to me any longer to my replies. (I am now contemplating if I want them any longer as my security software.) I hope for assistance from a professional to guide me with my issue. You may know my solution or safely troubleshoot to find the resolution. This would be greatly appreciated!!!

This is the issue:

At the conclusion of the loading of the startup icons after starting Windows XP, I receive a window that states ?Found New Hardware? ?Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard?. First when I received this window, I have ran the wizard to try to locate the drivers or programs that it was requesting. To no avail did I find a solution to this issue. At each system restart, the same window would load requesting some driver or program. I was curious as to the missing driver or program it was requesting. This issue has been happening over the past week. I did not know if some driver or program is missing, there is some corruption in the system, or some malware on my system causing this issue. To ... Hi all, until last night everything was ok. After I'd cleaned the computer and plugged everything back in windows decides it can't find drivers for any of my usb devices (keyboard, mouse, camera, gamepad, joystick).

When it finds them it says new hardware found. with 3 choices:
Locate and install driver
Ask me again later
Don't show this message again

So I click the first option, and it searches for drivers but...'Could not find driver software'. I then click 'Check online for a solution' with no luck.

These devices are so basic that the manufacturers don't supply drivers for the products; they should all be with the OS.

What can I do guys? I'm a keen photographer and not being able to upload my photos via the camera or card reader is a real issue for me.

By the way the above process happens for all the usb hardware I have except the printer, usb flash drive, mouse and keyboard (luckily!)

I'm trying to run my dell desktop but whenever windows beings to boot up i get an error message that says keyboard drivers not found press f2 for setup but my keyboard won't work. Any suggestions?

Answer:Keyboard drivers not found on XP startup

Simple. Get a new keyboard. If your PC supports a PS/2 keyboard then use that. Or make sure that USB is enabled in the BIOS. Difficult to enter the BIOS if your keyboard doesnt work. Clear the CMOS directly on the motherboard. Check your manual for instructions. Easiest way is the power off PC, unplug the kettle load then take the side off the case. Next locate the watch battery and carfefully remove it. Wait 10 seconds then press and hold the power on button for 30 seconds. Put the battery back in and power up the PC again and hopefully USB will work and you will have control over the keyboard.

Yesterday i re-installed XP Home SP2 from the disk and now i have Windows XP with missing drivers

The missing drivers are:

- Ethernet controller
- PCI communications thingy

And on computer startup i have no programs except the defaults, and a very old version of windows media player, on startup i also have a weird screen that is titled as 'OEM reset' with an option to shutdown, do an audit boot and build an RIS deployment image.. why have i got that?

I need to get the Ethernet controller asap and i cannot connect to the internet through my PC.

The PC is an old eMachines e4024, 2.9ghz intel pentium 4 with 512mb ram.

eMachines support is rubbish, they hardly give anything, that's why im posting here..
My ethernet controller is a Intel pro 10/100, thats as far as i have got to finding out what the controller is, everest did not tell me anything about an ethernet controller.. but i know it is manufactered by Intel, on intel's website they have a list of driver downloads for many ethernet controllers but im posting here cause i cant find my model.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cursor is smooth and fast at startup (and in safe mode), sound works fine (startup noise) but when everything loads and Windows is actually usable, it's like the PC works great .. until you move the cursor.

Cursor is choppy and affects sounds. I can watch video and listen to music perfectly, until I move the cursor.

I made a video of this:

www.youtube.com/watch?&v=4JwfH3qgChI

Things I've tried: uninstalling / reinstalling / repairing / etc. mouse drivers, video card drivers, network adapter drivers (thought the problem was related to network activity because of startup/safe mode behaviour being normal), catalyst control centre, etc.

Mouse is a wired Logitech MX518, uses Setpoint software
All the specs I can think of, let me know if you think any other info would help

In task manager performance tab, cpu goes to 100% usage when the cursor is moved around.

New build, no viruses, scanned for good measure with Avast (then uninstalled Avast to see if it helped), Malwarebytes, Spybot, Microsoft Security etc. I don't see how infection could even be a problem at this point

Hi!! I've found another interesting bug fix!! I'm surprised i found no other useful material on this error on the internet, when it seems to be a fairly common and annoying error, but here goes:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\Report[any random number here]

In order to recognise which tmp file you should look into, you need to know the CATALOGUE number of the driver you wish to install.

[Guide to finding out the catalogue no.:
Inside of the place where you have your driver setup files (cd, floppy, wherever), locate the .cat file. It should have an icon with several sheets of paper bound with a strip of tape. Windows uses the catalogue file name as the tmp file name. So search through the folders in the above mentioned directory until you find the one with a tmp file by the name of the catalogue file you’ve located in the steps above]

In here you should find a .tmp file. There will be about 4 files, give or take. Open the .tmp file.

This is the file that will give the REAL solution to your problem:

In this file, windows logs its actions while installing the drivers.

Now here's the magic: Windows cannot find the file specified? Cos Either Windows or your Conexant driver witers is stupid. Either way, if you scroll down to the bottom of this file, and read the last 20 lines or so, you'll realize that windows was actually looking for the file that was missing in a valid folder, but the files weren’t there.

In my case, the folder was:... Read more

Hello, after I rebooted my computer, something odd happened; Windows said that new hardware was found when I didn't do anything to the computer.
I can't install drivers for this thing because I have no idea what it is. Looking at the device manager, I see that it says its listed as

PCI Input Device

amd the properties for it states:

PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 2, device 2, function 1)

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

The Device Manager also has another device listed as an error, the 1394 port of my Sound Blaster Audigy Card.

The properties of the 1394 Net Adapter states:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

This device used to be working perfectly before the new PCI Input Device was found, and oddly its name has changed. It used to be called "1394 Net Adapter", but now its name is "1394 Net Adapter #2" as if I took out the old one and added a new one.

Does anyone know what is going on? I haven't done anything to this computer and now these problems show up.

Thanks
Hank

Is it better to use the drivers provided by toshiba (nvidia, synaptics,...) or should i install it from the official hardware manufacterer as they have more recent drivers than the one on toshiba site.

Answer:Question about drivers (hardware manufacterer vs toshiba drivers)

Generally speaking the drivers from Toshiba page should be used since such drivers are tested by Toshiba.
For example the display driver from Toshiba supports some kind of overheating protection and clock down the GPU if the temperature would be too high? in such case the performance would be decreased for a short time but this would lower the temperature? as far as I know the drivers from chip manufacturers don?t support such feature?
So the usage of such drivers is your own risk?

At the other hand you can install Synaptics drivers from manufacturer page. There is no risk.

Ever since the upgrade my CPU is constantly running at 98-100% all the time meaning I cannot do anything on my PC. In device manager I see that I have some drivers missing and all attempts to update these have failed and i've seen other users here post the missing drivers and be directed to the fixes.

I recent bought a G70, wiped Windows 8 and installed Window 7 64bit Ultimate.  Tried installing WLAN drivers from Lenovo site, and the installer pops up and gives me a "No appropriate driver to be installed" error. PCI ID on the Network adaptor: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0041&SUBSYS_354517AA&REV_20PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0041&SUBSYS_354517AAPCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0041&CC_028000PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0041&CC_0280 Indicates that I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR9285. Installing the Atheros drivers directly from the Lenovo driver package has no effect.  Looking for drivers specifically for this device elsewhere hasn't yielded me anything.  I am on a wired LAN until I get this figured out, which (see other post) means I have to deal with the most poorly designed ethernet slot ever conceived. I'm ready to restore this to factory and return to sende;, please help.

Answer:G70 Windows 7 WLAN Drivers - No drivers found

I am looking at the driver package for a G70-70 for WiFi adapters that would appear to cover several manufactures of WiFi cards all in one download.  Sometimes the main lenovo installer does not find the installed hardware correctly.  In this case I usually drill down in the file to the folder that corresponds with my hardware and install using the setup.exe program from within that same folder. If this does not work, I would try a BIOS reset, then check if it will install from the file. Good luck.

The XP drivers I downloaded from Toshiba are working only for some components, and I dont't know what to do...
It seems right now I have a very expensive typing machine:)
Any ideeas?

Thanks
Hank

Question: Found new hardware

My Philips sound card has gone south. Might be my fault, but I have ordered a new card. Before it bit the dust I had tried to reinstall the card several times and things had gotten kind of corrupted and I was getting the found new hardware at every boot up. I have removed the card and its software from my computer but I am still getting the found new hardware notice relating to multimedia audio controller. In Device Manager there is a yellow questionmark for Other Devices. However there is no identification under properties as to what this other device is. I have no idea what it is referring to. Any ideas?

anyone know what is going on?
also, it seems that it is always running a file system check before i can start my computer...

I have just moved a HP Deskjet 690c printer from one computer on my network to another. As soon as I plugged it in the found new hardware wizard appeared. It installed the printer, but right at the end the wizard said, "Cannot Install this Hardware" along with "The system cannot find the file specified" (although no filename is given). However, the pinter driver is installed OK and prints fine.

That's OK, except that every time I restart the computer, up pops the Wizard again. I can cancel, but its pretty annoying. I have tried deleting and re-installing but I cannot get past this. Any ideas?

The PC is Windows XP Professional, SP2 installed.

Need a lil' help please?
I recently had to format my hard drive due to a virus issue. I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop. When I formatted, I did delete a partition that I thought was not of importance. E or F I believe. After reinstalling windows I looked at my hardware device manager and found to have ... no ATI video....no WIFI...no Bluetoothe. Dell utilities CD wont load drivers for these.

In the device manger I have question marks showing on "Other Devices" With subcatagories that show the following also with question marks. 1) Base System Device 2) Base System Device 3) Base System Device 4) Network Controller 5) Video Controller (VGA Compatible).

I know I screwed something up but what can I do to fix it? In a desktop I know I could just take cards out and reinstall them to have windows recognize them. But a laptop proves to be more challenging. Any answers?

Have you tried running Windows Update? That may get them installed. Or go here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen and enter your model in to get to the driver downloads you need.

I have 1 CDRW, 1 DVD player and 1 USB portable DVD/RW. Each of these works perfectly in windows XP. Ever since I installed the XP, every time I boot it finds each of these devices and I have to cancel the wizard. Many times I have allowed the wizard to go through it's paces alowing it to search everywhere for suitable drivers and checking the box to say don't remind me again, but without fail, next time I reboot, I have to cancel three wizards.
When I look in the device manager it has found all 3, they are all working properly and have been recognised correctly.

Why does it want to install drivers for CD devices anyway? and why can't it see that they are all properly installed and are working fine?

Does anyone know how to stop this happening on every re-boot?

Please help

I presume at some point that you didn't cancel the wizard? and let it go through the motions of installing the hardware?

A couple of days of ago, I restarted my computer and when it came back on it said that the overclocking failed. I checked the bios and everything seemed fine. Now when I log on it says "Found New Hardware" and tries to install Nvidia controller but says it fails. I tried a system restore but that didn't work. But when I tried a system restore, I noticed that "Software Distribution 3.0" was installed a couple of hours before my problems began. The Microsoft update history shows it was updates to windows defender and .NET framework 2.0.

How do I stop the "found new hardware" box from popping up everytime I start my computer?

hi not sure if this belongs in hardware or Windows Xp, but here goes...

About two weeks ago I did a bit of a cleanup of programs on my Sony Vaio laptop with WXP, and deleted a couple that I rarely if ever use (like, ones I last used two years ago etc).

Next time I booted up, I got the Found New Hardware wizard window appear. It doesn't say what new hardware it has found (just says "unknown" if you ask Windows to connect to Windows Update to find the software)), and I have no idea what it could be as I hadn't installed anything new. The window refuses to disappear if I click "cancel", and it keeps opening up everything I start up - it is driving me mad.

I have tried googling this problem and also reading all kinds of threads in this forum but I don't understand half the answers! Have tried going into Device Manager and looking to see if any of the hardware has any exclamation marks beside it, but can't see anything.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron B130 running Windows XP. I also have a 320 GB SimpleTech Black Cherry external hard drive, which is plugged in most of the time.

Lately my computer has been "finding" my external over and over, seemingly at random, while I am working at my computer. If I am using a file which is on the external (usually an audio file) it either closes the program (usually itunes) or starts over on a different song once the hard drive has been "found" again.

Also, every time it finds the external, it goes through autoplay, which I always stop, and then provides the "which action would you like to perform" window (open folder, play music, etc.), which I always close. I always want Windows to do nothing when I plug my external in. I have tried going into properties under "SignatureMini" (that's what it's called) and under "Autoplay" selecting "take no action" instead of "prompt me every time" but it just doesn't seem to take - it has always changed back the next time my computer "finds" it.

Any help on either point is greatly appreciated.
-Emily

Answer:found new hardware...again

Try this (even just to humor us; print out if necessary):

1. Unplug external drive
2. Shut down computer completely
3. Unplug power cord and wait 10 seconds
4. Push power button
5. Plug power cord back in
6. Start computer without USB drive plugged in
7. Wait for Windows and all other start ups to completely load
8. Power down your USB drive
9. Power on your USB drive
10. Plug your USB drive into your computer
11. Allow Autoplay to do its thing
12. Allow New Found Hardware to do its thing
13. DO NOT restart the computer with a USB drive still attached
14. Interface with the options; select what you want Autoplay to do (rather than canceling out)
15. Wait and see if problem recurs
16. Let us know

Hope this helps!

Question: New hardware found

I am getting a new hardware found message and it comes up as MEDIA. It will not install on it 's own and my computer has been running excepitonally slow lately. I don't know of any hardware that is new. I have looked into the "phantom" hardware and get Hardware ID's as *nchssvad and Device installed as ROOT\MEDIA\0000. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? My computer is running a little faster tonight for some reason. Please, help.

Answer:New hardware found

well the file nchssvad is referring to a NCH product, have you insalled an NCH product since getting this message? If you have, does the product work properly?
also check the programs options or preferences to see if the program may require sound media services of any sort.

You can try to uninstall and reinstall the product.

NCH tends to put items in your start menu to start whenver the computer is restarted

-start, run and type msconfig
-check the startup tab and see if nch products are starting with pc
if so you can uncheck and hit apply

You will still be able to use the app by clicking its icon

hope this helps

ok, i just got done doing windows update. I got service pack 3, and a few other things. And when i restarted my computer, I got the message new hardware found and it said it found a plug and play monitor. So anyways yeah im using my laptop and there's no other monitor. Before I updated it didnt do this at all and i restarted my comp like 3 times today doin updates before this. I know one of the updates was from Dell and it was for the monitor I have.
The updates I did this last time were:
1)Dell Inc. - Video - Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family
2)Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: x86 (KB829019)
3)Update for Windows XP (KB896344)
4)Office XP Service Pack 3
5)Conexant Systems, Inc. - Modems - Conexant D110 MDC V.92 Modem

So yeah i would guess the first one would be the one that affected my comp wrong somehow maybe. I have virus scan and all up to date and run it daily, ran it today a couple of hours ago after this happened and it found no viruses. Thanks in advance for your help.

Now USB-connected HP scanner won't operate. Message is 'scanner not found'. Removed and reinstalled software, no change. In addition, in device mgr, have '!' next to Iomega Zip drive SCSI controllers. But I did a backup on a ZIP disk which apparently went OK. Can acess other files, run Word, Excel, etc. In device mgr, have a listing for scannercontroller, HP Parallel Adapter. This may have always been listed, not sure.

Answer:hardware not found

How is the ZIP drive connected to the computer?

What OS is this?

How are you producing reports without using Quicken?

Are there any other ! or ? in Device Manager?

Everytime I switch on my computer as of recent the Add Hardware wizard loads up and says that new hardware has been found called "Net". I don't know what it is and therefore can't install the appropriate drivers for it. The icon that comes up next to the name suggests its a card of some sort.

As far as i know nothing has been installed that would have caused this wizard to load up. Any ideas?

Answer:New Hardware Found - Don't know what it is?

goto device manager and see if you have any yellow / red triangles

start
control panel

Answer:New hardware found when its all done

Your best bet may be to let windows continue with the install,it may well stop pestering you then.Or uninstall the printer and let windows install it for you.

I have been using my TuNit mpo3 player for some time, including connecting it to my PC via USB and copying / deleting files. Now Windows tells me it's found new USB hardware and failed to find whatever it needed. There is no installation CD. To make matters worse, it has done something to the mp3 player so that I can't even switch it off. When I re-connect the mp3 player, I get a double "bing bong" and "Found new Hardware does not appear".Any ideas?

Question: Found New Hardware

In Win XP Pro, I just installed a second drive (ST36531A) and now the wizard keeps asking me to install drivers for it. Surely a hard disk shouldn't need a driver? I can use the drive quite normally, but this is irritating! How can I get it to stop asking?

Thanks to one and all

Question: New Hardware Found

Recently when the computer is restarted it will tell me that new hardware was found ... CO_mon ... I try to use the new hardware wizard but it can't find the driver or software or whatever. My computer is very sluggish and hesitant. The desktop is all odd looking and I can't figure out what I did. I did recently add EZ Armor through Time Warner .... and I have AVG (free version) as well. My computer is only about 3 years old, I would think it's still a pretty good one!

Answer:New Hardware Found

go to norton antivirus website and try to download a free trial version of norton antivirus 2007. usually it is good enough for 3 months ..try to scan it with that. May be it will find something for you ...
hope it helps

On my Dell Dimension 3000 running WinXP, suddenly Windows finds new hardware and tries to install it...specifically a floppy disc drive, which there is not in this machine. Never has been since I bought it 2 0r 3 years ago!
If I go to device manager it shows floppy disc drive which I have uninstalled.
When I reboot , WinXP tries to install it again.
How can I eliminate this action ?
hgibbs

Answer:found new hardware?

Under Standard floppy disk controller, click Disable (not uninstall). Windows should quit finding it.

My computer was working fine until a few days ago when the networking function stopped working. It will not connect to the outside world. I also now have an "Unknown" icon with the big yellow questionmark showing up and "Found New Hardware" window pops up on startup. This is after I have disconnected everything from the computer. The computer type is a Sony PCG-F180 (notebook). How can I figure out what this "New Hardware" is so I can load the proper drivers if that is what it takes?

Answer:New Hardware Found w2k

Further information on this problem:

After the question mark it indicates "This device is not configured correctly (Code 1)". This comes from the "Add/Remove Hardware Wizard" after highlighting the question marked driver and clicking next... I cannot figure out the hardware associated with this problem. Again, everything is disconnected (including docking station and PCMCIA card). It keeps detecting something that it does not have a driver for.

I recently purchased Hi speed (USB2) hot reader (7 in 1 card reader - 4 slots)As I use USB 1 it is backward compatible and works ok.However every time I boot up Win XP advises ,in a balloon, that new hardware has been found and it does this 4 times. The hardware installation wizard then comes up four times to advise installation not complete and hardware may not work. After getting rid of all this rigmarole everything works ok.Does anyone now how I can stop this happening?

Answer:"Found new hardware"

Did the reader come with a disk? I've noticed that if you try and use USB2 peripherals with USB1 ports, XP tends to complain, and tell you it isnt going to be fast enough etc.... See if anything clears with the disk installation for drivers. If youve got no reds or yellows in device manager, there shouldnt be any problems though.

Even though the printer driver has been installed. I actually keep getting the found new hardware bubble and the wizard popping up saying that the printer driver did not install correctly every time my laptop is plugged into my printer. The first time I attempted to install my printer off of my old disk ( cannon bubble jet s300- ancient but works great) It did not install correctly. I contacted Cannon and they sent me a new disk with I assume newer drivers since their website did not have the drivers on it either. Now the correct drivers are installed and the printer works but that stupid wizard still keeps coming up. You click finish and it just pops right back up.

Any ideas how I can fix this? It of course does not happen when the printer is unattached but it does hinder progress when I am trying to print something.

Thanks.

Answer:Found new hardware won't go away...

Answer:Found new hardware

Run this click here, post back with your motherboard model, and any information about audio (probably not much if it can't load a driver) and we can try to track down the right driver.

Question: New Hardware found

Every time my mate switches his Epson Stylus Photo 895 printer on up pops the New hardware found wizard. Tried with installation disk plus downloaded latest drivers, the printer works ok once you cancel the wizard. Also it is listed as the default printer. Running XP pro. cheers for help. Andy.

Answer:New Hardware found

I had this problem with my Epson R300 after I tried to update to the latest driver, I eventually cured it by running the setup wizard under a different login name. The wizard would not complete under my name and kept throwing up an unable to complete install error, the printer worked fine all along apart from the new hardware message at logon.
