Preferred Solution: missing registry information

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: missing registry information

A limp answer but.......If the problem has occured within the last 5 days you can boot to the command prompt only and type.... Scanreg /restore -then pick a date before the present trouble and you should be home free.

I've used Adobe's Framemaker 8.x for several years on a Dell Inspiron running Vista Home Premium. Lately, when I try to open the program I get the message "Registry information invalid or missing."

I tried all the things in Adobe's knowledge base, to no avail.

I tried disabling everything except the FrameMaker program; still didn't work.

I would like to re-install and start over. However, I purchased it as a download and I copied the information they sent me to a backup disk. That disk has on,y "repair" "modify" or "uninstall" as choices. I choose "repair" or "modify" and then Framemaker will open.

Does anybody know how to fix the registry editor? I downloaded and used Registry Mechanic, but that didn't work.

From what I read, I don't want to be messing in the registry unless I really know what I'm doing!

Thanks,
Granny.Nerd

Hi All,

Am Running Windows XP home with SP2 on a P4 machine,
everything running smoothly except that I tried to uninstall a program
through the control panel-add/remove route and even though most programs are listed
there, only a few of them (like 5 out of 40 odd) have the change/remove
button when the particular program name is clicked. It just shows size,
used frequency and last used on... So, I cannot uninstall those
programs incl. the officeXP package. I am absolutely sure all this was
possible few days back and tried to get my system back to a 7-8 day
restore point but this does not help as well. In the registry key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall"
only 5-6 programs are listed and the change/remove button only shows up
for these. Where did the rest go?..as all these other programs are
running on my computer. What could be the problem and how can I resolve
it without re-formatting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

I have a computer where the DHCP service will not start due to a missing dependent service.  I did some digging and found that the NetBT.sys file was missing, as well as the related Registry keys and the NetBIOS over TCP/IP service in Device Manager.
I tried copying the NetBT.sys file over from a known good XP SP3 machine, but before I went any further, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.  Can someone offer some suggestions to fix this without having to reload XP?

Thanks,
Phil

Answer:NetBT.sys missing, registry entries missing, and NetBIOS over TCP/IP service missing from Device Manager

For what it is worth, I pulled the netbt.sys file from a known good machine and putting it into the %Windows%\system32\drivers folder, then imported the registry keys for NetBT from the same machine.  Rebooted the computer and the "NetBIOS over TCP
IP" driver showed up in Device manager under "Non Plug-and-Play Devices".  It showed that it was started, and verified that the DHCP client server was started as well.  Everything was in good working order at that point.  Here are the registry

Hi all,When formating a hdd, does it clear the registry clean of all previous installed program, reason is that i formated my cpu and in the registry ,some programs are still listed, programs that i had before formating and did not install after the format..If you have info on this please reply
Thank's

Answer:Registry information

Formatting should have removed all of that. If it didn't, the format was not complete or correct.

To be absolutely sure that the drive retains none of the earlier contents, remove the partitions and repartition before formatting. This is a good idea anyway to insure that the partitions are healthy and without errors.

There's not really a lot of programming stuff going on in this board - some here consider HTML to be programming - but you could follow the link I provided in http://forums.techguy.org/t87328/s95f93cc8d1af10c68be9b8201e105008.html to a registry class. What level do you program at?

My operating system is windows xp. I have been using an external dvd player for at least 8 or 9 months. A few days ago, I attempted to burn a dvd, but it would not indicate a source drive to me nor would it highlight copy. I felt that something was wrong with it and decided that I would burn some music instead. Windows media player also would not rip the cd. A window popped up indicating that it did not recognize that the computer has a drive for ripping and burning cds.

This prompts me to go back to my external dvd player. I uninstall it, and attempt to reinstall it. I get a code 19-configuration information in the registry is incomplete or damaged. I searched online and went to fixbyweb. I explain the situation. They sent me a supposed fix, but things are the same. I was told by fixbyweb, to go to system restore and restore the computer to a time before I uninstalled the DVD burner. But for each restore point that I went to, there were no changes to my computer. I went to all restore points that were available And the fix still did not work, so I am out $39.99.

So if there is a remedy, would you PLEASE, PLEASE help me fix this situation? I have spent money twice in 2 days time trying to fix this, and I'll be a pauper and still will have the same problem. And I will have to write down what you tell me, cause I don't have any ink for the printer, cause thats too expensive too. Thanks in advance.

Answer:configuration information in the registry

Try deleting the registry keys that are mentioned in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270008

Note that after you do this you may have to reinstall your CD\DVD burning software.

I hope this is the right place for this question. The last couple of times that I have run Sysinternals Autoruns, when it got to HKLM\System\Current Control Set\Control\Sessions Manger\Boot Execute, the program stopped responding. I thought there was a problem with the program, so I uninstalled it and got the latest version 11.32 and installed that. It does the same thing. There are some strange characters in that section. I don't have a clue what they are. I have included a screen shot of that section. The computer is working fine. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Does this look like a problem? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Registry section information

Don't know if it's a problem, but it's definitely not clean. Some of those entries look to me as though they can be deleted (deselected) as they indicate 'file not found' anyway.

I'd also check for the existence of malware. You've got some very odd keys there!

Ok, I have a question that I find hard to word, but I'll try to explain it best I can. (I also hope I have my registry definitions correct.)

I am trying to find out how to see, and how to change where a registry value gets its data.

For example, I am looking at the subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Backgrond

Within this subkey there is a value called OEMbackground. I am trying to find out where this value gets its data. The value tells Windows rather to use the default embedded Windows login background or rather to specify my own. The value says to use a backgrounddefault.jpg file located under %windir%\windows\system32\oobe\info\background. I am trying to find out how the value knows this - where it gets the information from, and how I can change it. My company wants to be able to create our own folder and store the background image there, not within this preset directory.

Does that make sense? Hope to get some help

-Moose

Can a registry entry path include a file name and then a folder name? For example: File name ONBttnIE.dll\106 The 106 may be some kind of an environment variable.

Answer:Windows 7 registry path information

In the NTFS hierarchy a folder will always precede a file.To display a full list of the environment variables, open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type cmd /k set (note the two spaces) and press Enter.

Failure using the VxD loader.

*Verified correct hardware device driver is installed.

*Uninstall and reinstall the hardware device firmware, driver, software.

*Physically (disconnect) uninstall and (reconnect) reinstall the

Can anybody please post a screenshot or an index of this registry tree location in full view, default installation if possible, with that I could manually reconstruct the entries I mistakenly deleted.

For some reason my Windows 7 Home Premium (32bit) PC is now refusing to operate the DVD ROM and DVD RW Drives. A suspect the latest update to iTunes as they were working fine till the automatic install for that failed. Had to do it manually & that went with some hiccoughs, needing to "Retry" to get it to complete successfully.

The problem is when I try and use a DVD drive you hear it react to the disc, but Autoplay does not run.

Checking in the Device Manager on the General Tab, there is the following message (for both drives)
<< Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19) >>

I checked this on the Internet and tried as suggested going to Device manager and Uninstalling both drives. Restarting my PC and letting the "Found New Hardware" re-install them.

Sadly this failed...
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7240S ATA Device Failed
TSST corp DVD-ROM SH-D 162D ATA Device Failed

I then checked whether the driver software for the Device was up to date. It reported that the software for the device is up to date.

Next I ran the Troubleshooter and tried re-installing the driver software which it suggested might fix the problem .... only to be met with <<Device Driver Software not Successfully installed>>
I have also tried running the Microsoft Fix It tool .... MicrosoftFixit.dvd.MATSKB.Run.exe
Still no luck :-( I have attached a file with the details of... Read more

Hello,

I recently recovered from a trojan on my Windows XP machine, and had to re install. Everything worked perfectly, now I'm setting up my internet and after that I will update my new anti virus program.

So here's the problem, my friend Rob is helping me set up my internet and asked for my motherboard information, so I followed his instructions and launched the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. I went to the Display tab, and under the "Device" section, everything was entered in as n/a or just nothing.

The actual text:

Device

Name:
Manufacturer: n/a
Chip type: n/a
DAC Type: n/a
Approx. Total Memory: n/a
Current Display Mode: 1400 x 1050 (16 bit) (1Hz)
Monitor:

How can I find my information and put it back in? If I have to download something I can just transfer it from my notebook to the machine itself, I'm just really confused and need some help. My computer is made by Dell and the model name is XPS 630i.

I also have the information in the Sound tab missing too... But I do have my Realtek stuff plugged in from my monitor, but that's all I know.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi to everyone who reads this.

When I want do a CHKDSK on C, I get prompt to schedule this task the next time my pc boots, no problems here though.
But after booting up I don't see the CHKDSK-information displayed as it should in normal circumstances. My screen stays black during the CHKDSK Scan, whilst I believe the scan runs as it should be. I derive that thought from the fact that I had a disk surface issue, and after doing the CHKDSK scan the problem was gone.
So the only thing I'm lacking is the information while in progress.

Does anyone have a clue on how to fix that?

Thanks for your time and advice.

Best regards Carlo

Answer:CHKDSK Information is missing...

Hello Carlo,

Did you change your boot screen by chance? Doing so results in a blank screen while chkdsk runs as boot. The information at the top of the tutorial at this link above can give more details about how you can use the sfc/ scannow command to restore the default boot screen to see chkdsk afterwards.

For now though, the tutorial below can show you how to read the chkdsk log to see what it said.

Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log - Windows 7 Forums

Hope this helps,

Good evening,
Some days ago, after a badfunctioning, my computers does not boot, and the error that appears is BootMGR Missing.
I have been reading in many forums about the error.
I also wrote to Toshiba, as my computer is a Toshiba Satellite T130-T132. They told me that I would have to reinstall the Windows 7, AND that if I wanted to recover the info in C I had to take the disk out of the computer.
As I'm working in Haiti until de end of the year, and I need to recover important information that I could not back up - and against Toshibas' technique recommendation - we took the disk out of the laptop.
The problem is that we could recover all the disc D, but not the disc C, which is the one that I need (My Documents).
Could somebody advice me on how recover this information in the disc C before reinstalling Windows? It is important to say that we tried to boot from CD. The laptop does not have CD reader, and it does not recognize the external one.
Many thanks in advance for your advice.
Best regards,
Paola

Take ownership of the folders on the new PC and you will be able to access the files. If they are showing up. If they are not then you have an entirely different problem.

I have run into a problem with my computer where I run msinfo32.exe, my dialog says "Can't Collect Information: Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing."

Also my Windows Rating disappeared from the system properties screen, but not from the performance information and tools window. Also my system information appears at the bottom of the my computer window, but not in the system properties.

Ever since this disappeared I have having trouble with my remote desktop connection into my computer before this wasn't an issue and nothing new was installed or removed.

Can anyone help???

I am using Home Premium, and since getting the OS I have felt as though my graphics performance rating was quite low (2.0 for a GeForce 6200 256MB AGP). This was confirmed when I saw other people with the same card, with lesser systems getting higher ratings.

To resolve this I have been trying to get the newest drivers, etc... Well a few days ago, to compound this issue I went to go look at my Windows Experience Rating, and it was gone... Here is what I see when I go to Peformance Rating and Tools.

I talked to Microsoft on live chat for over 2 hours last night, but it took that long for them to even begin to troubleshoot this. They had me register jscript and vbscript dlls, but to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas?

Answer:Performance and Rating Information Missing?!?!

I'd see if you can do a System Restore back to when it was working.

The drivers for that card should be located here: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

What kind of score would you be expecting, most 6100/6200's I've seen score in the 2x range.

Hi. I've been having issues with popups and performance lately and my AVG and MBAM scans weren't finding anything so I tried booting into safe mode and scanning that way. Much to my dismay I found that in the middle of loading the partitions the computer would reset and I would get a black screen telling me that safe mode failed to boot and that I should try loading windows normally.

I opened up my regedit and low and behold, the SAFEBOOT subfolder is missing entirely. I'm not really comfortable poking around in the registry, the only experience I have with it is looking around. I really kinda need to have safe mode, but my computer didn't come with a cd that I've seen mention of for fixing this kind of thing. Is there a way I can just manually restore the missing registry keys by typing in the necessary information?

In addition, I noticed a few keys which don't seem like they are supposed to be there, I searched them in search engines but with no results. I've included the key and the information that comes up on the little side-panel when I click on the key in question.

I have a customer laptop HP 15-ac109na win 10 . This unit displays the product information missing error that seems Very Common and the lack of support for this issue is dreadful. I have tried ndbmifit across most board platforms none work HPSET  seems to run but shows 0x86 error and no information can be entered. Now this error is only displayed when charger is plugged in during bootup. On battery only this NEVER arises AT ALL! So it led me to believe voltages issue. I tested the charger voltage and its bordering +-5% tolerance and rated at 19.5v but outputting 20.01v. I think that when the charger is plugged in the DC in line component is failing possible MOSFET to the bios supplying too much voltage and protection mechanism kicks in resulting as bios corruption which in turn displays the error. On battery power this never happens ! So all components seem to be fine on the DC_batt line. Can anyone confirm my theory and or provide the HPB**.exe file for this unit board to allow the information to be tattooed to the board. This was a brand new purchase from high street retailer with a replaced system board!!!! Not good!

Alright, I have one of these:

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=333

And I need to get a new enclosure to fix a recurring problem (on the recommendation of the people here). I'm looking on eBay and all of them require IDE 2.5" or SATA 2.5" and other things that aren't in the product specs. Can someone please spare a minute or two to link me to an eBay listing for an enclosure that would work with this?

Answer:Specs missing information?; need to buy new enclosure for external HD (newbie)

Not a lot of info on that link.
Probably need to take the drive out of the enclosure
and see what type it is.
An IDE drive will use a flat ribbon cable.
A sata will use a small thin connector.

Just got a new thinkpad with Win 8, upgraded to 8.1. When looking at the power options in the Lenovo Settings App it looks like a lot of functionality is missing compared to the old Power Manager days. Is there anyway to get the detailed battery health information. Design Wh, Max Wh, Current Wh, Current power usage in W etc. The ability to track the battery's max capacity over time help me decide when to replace it. My Windows Media Player 9 Music Library settings will not automatically update media information for files which were copied from CD's. These CD's were copied over several months but the missing media data i.e. '01 Track 1' is intact. I have done this successfully in the past with no issues.

I added the correct folder for monitoring with the following settings in Tools - Options - Media Library:
Update files by retrieving missing information from internet.
Only add missing information.
Find media information for music copied with another program.

I restarted the computer and started the browser before opening WMP9 and waited several hours for it to update with no changes appearing. I tried this with both Explorer and Firefox.

There is no menu item to force media information updates.

Is reinstalling WMP9 the best option at this point?

All I can do with the Toshiba recovery CD ... Read more

Answer:Re: Visa fails to start - \boot\bcd missing required information

The Toshiba Recovery disk is not the same like the Microsoft Vista disk!!!
Recovery disk contains an image which will be not able to repair your computer.

The error message says that the boot manager is corrupt or it?s damage and you will need to boot from ORIGINAL Microsoft vista DVD in order to repair this.

If? you don?t have a such MS Vista DVD then I don?t see big chances to repair the OS.
So in such case you will have to reinstall the OS using the Recovery disk.

By the way; what happens if you press F8 immediately after notebook has been booted up?

Hello Thinkpad community,I am planning to buy a thinkpad x200s, x200, x300 or x301 to replace my z61m. Since I am missing some detailed technical information, it is hard for me to make this decision. Please help me to fill the gaps.X200/X200sMy favourite is the x200s, since the main requirement is ultra mobility. To make it usable also on the outside of buildings, I am interested how bright is the display1.) Candela / nit of X200s?2.) Does the x200 / x200s with extension bay support dual monitor setup (one via vga, one via digital output)?4.) If dual monitor setup is supported, what is the maximal supported resolution for two monitors?5.) Is dual monitor setup supported with linux?X300/X3001Just in case the display / resolution of the X200s is two small (I will have to check it in real in a lenovo partner store if it will be available in Germany) for me I will switch to X300 / X301.5.) welcome to the forum! here are a few links which may help your research.   the last link will give you specs on the various display panels among many other specs as well.  http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/thinkpad/tech_library.html http://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/merchandising/US/PDFs/x200_datasheet.pdfhttp://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/merchandising/US/PDFs/x300_USEN_00.pdf http://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/merchandising/US/PDFs/X301_Datasheet.pdf  ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitute/psref/tabook.pdf  64-bit OSes are supported on all X300/X301 and X200/X200s models.   server 2003 and 2008 are not officially supported but will run on the above equipment.   there's a chance that not all drivers can be found however, especially for 2003.   2008 is much easier to implement since it registers with most drivers and apps as simply being vista with SP1 (since vista shares 2008's kernel).

If you receive the following error message when you try to boot your Windows 10 computer, then this post may help you: The Boot Configuration Date file is missing some required information.
File:\BCD
Error Code: 0zc000000d
If you receive this error screen, then boot your device to Advanced Startup Options and try the following: Run System Restore and see if it helps Run Startup Repair
You may have to rebuild BCD and repair MBR.
Open a Command Prompt and run the following commands one after the other: Code: bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd See these posts for more details: Restore, Fix, Repair Master Boot Record (MBR) in Windows Dual Boot Repair Tool: Repair BCD Boot Configuration Data
Restart your computer and see if it has helped.

Answer:Error Code 0zc000000d. Boot Configuration Date file is missing required information

Thanks for this HappyAndK! I was trying to install the RemixOS on my computer and received this message. I messed with the BCD configuration of the Windows. Thanks again, I restored it.

Hello-

I had at one time installed Bluestacks Android Emulator on my Windows 7 Pro SP1 machine and it worked fine. I uninstalled it and went about other business. Now, I want to reinstall it so that I can play Clash of Kings with multiple accts. on my pc.

The problem is that it will not install now, as there's something amiss within the Registry. All is well with the computer and the file system is intact. I simply need to use multiple Google accts. to play the game effectively, and to use multiple accts. on Facebook is a violation of Terms.

Please advise on this issue, and note the attached failure window for more info.

Thanks for any and all help on this matter.

Regards-

tim

Hello -xp here.

In my trying various solutions to fixing my windows updates installing problems I've found out that I'm missing this very important registry;
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\

I can get to this far in that registry path -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\

Can I add that missing path into the registry [after I make a registry back-up]-and how do I do it if its possible- or is it too dangerous?

I'm following this suggestion at kelly's korner site; under 'updates'.
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_u.htm

Update - Issues

There are various solutions being put forth for the failed update result.

Option 1) Click Start, Run and enter SERVICES.MSC Go to Cryptographic Services and double click it. It should be set to Automatic and should be Started. If you were required to change this, try the Windows Update site again.

Option 2) Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Policies\WindowsUpdate

If the key WindowsUpdate does not exist, create it by right clicking on the Policies sub-key and selecting New, Key and giving the new key the name WindowsUpdate.

Within this key, you may see one or both of the following DWORD entries:

NoWindowsUpdate and/or DisableWindowsUpdateAccess

If either of these entries appear, change their values to zero by double clicking on them and setting the value to 0 (zero). If they do not appear, add them as DWORD entries wit... Read more

I'm trying to use the program "Dragon Tag", where the program will start MS-Excel, and here put an add-in into the menu. However, I get the below error, where I seemingly do not have the needed privileges. Tried to remedy this without succes, but then I tried to run the program being logged in as the administrator, but got the same error. If the administrator cannot do this, how should any other user then?

---------------------------
---------------------------
Dragon Tag cannot verify the required Word/Excel configuration or adjust it (if required)
because your user account does not have the privileges to read or update the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\Excel\\Addins\\DTStartupShim.Connect.

Adjust your system's security to allow this access for configuration verification and adjustment and then restart Dragon Tag.
---------------------------
OK

Answer:Missing privileges for registry key

Try and install Dragon Tag as administrator.

Right click the installer, Then select run as administrator.

Hello,
Upon Right clicking the Desktop the upcoming context menu doesn't list the "NEW" option, neither able to create a new folder option in file menu.
My OS is W7 Home Prem. x64 Sp1
As a solution I was advised to set a new value in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ but three entries are missing: Background, DefaultIcon and shell, only the shellex folder shows up compared to in the functionally OK W7x64
Pro Sp1.
Any advice?
Thank you

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PNP0501
but it seems the folder is not there.
I have tried regcleaner and reg fix did not help.
thanks

Answer:An entry in registry missing

There should be a way to add it to the registry as long as you know where to put that key. DId you try putting that key in yourself and see if it works for what you are looking for?

I don't have a clue how I did it, but the contents of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DRM seems to be empty and as a result I keep getting DRM errors from the media sharing service.

Is anyone else able to confirm, or even better, post a screen dump of whats supposed to be under the DRM Registry Key

Answer:Missing DRM Registry Components

A system restore will bring it back, if just done recently.
Ill take a look at mine
