Office 2016 Home uninstall and re-install

Question: Office 2016 Home uninstall and re-install

I have Win 10 Pro running on an iMac via Parallels 10 and it runs perfectly. Also on the iMac I have Win 7 Pro, again running perfectly. Before anyone asks why both, it was simply to try Win 10 before ditching my Win 7 setup. On the Win 10 computer, I have installed the latest Office prog. The home and student version allows me tho install up to 5 copies on any platform.
My question is simply this, if I uninstall Office 365, will that be credited against my total installations or not?

Preferred Solution: Office 2016 Home uninstall and re-install

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
sort of newbie question...but can not solve!!
I?ve got my new HP Laptop with WIN10 home factory installed installed .I?ve got my just burned Office2016 pro install DVD, which works like a champ on my old Win 7 laptop.

Now, as soon as I try to install on the new win10 laptop, a message states there?s a missing file....no error code, no any other message!!! NOTHING!!!!

What could be wrong?

Is there any limitation on new laptops so only Office 365 can be used (just a thought...)
Thanks!!!

Answer:Office 2016 install fails on win 10 home

I don't have much to help you except a suggestion :
Burn another DVD. Something might have gone awry in the first one.

I don't have Office 2016. Mine is a 2007 edition.
So, I have a silly question :
Assuming the 2016 is still running in the old Win 7 computer. Are you allowed to install the same 2016 to another computer with the same license ?

I have a new pc. Dell Inspiron 3650
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.41 GHz
16.0 GB (RAM)
64-Bit Op. Sys. x64 based processor
I installed the office pro plus 2016 with a key from seller.
It installed fine on 12 7 16 then today 12 8 16 none of the office programs will open.
The home and Student 2016 also does the same thing. I installed the pro and the home and student does the same thing.
The pc came with Win10 home I purchased from Dell Win10 pro. I called Dell support and they helped me to install pro from the usb.
One thing I never activated the home and student before downloading the purchased office pro. the office pro key worked so I didn't think I needed it.
After all the trouble with the pro I uninstalled pro and tried to use the home and student. the product key worked on it also. but the same thing happens
I get the error box
Microsoft Word has stopped working
windows is checking for a solution to the problem
then it changes to
Microsoft Word has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
needless to say I have heard nothing.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions?
Thank you.
Dell user since my first 266.

Hi there!

Well, after reseting the PC to factory settings and reinstalled my drivers, I'm encountering a nasty problem... I?m just unable to install office 2016 in Windows 10, just when it's about to finish, stops, reverts all and says there was an error installing the suite...

I could install this in build 1511, no problems, but here this happens... I tried compatibility modes, using the office cleaning tool, but no avail, I even have all the VC runtimes installed... I'm tryinto install 64 bit version.

Please guys, any advice on this? I really need office for doing my job!

Thanks in advance

Answer:Unable to install Office 2016 Professional Plus 2016 in W10 1607

Try installing 32bit option - you really do not need 64bit unless doing some mega powerful stuff.

I've just replaced Office 2010 with Office 2016. Office 2010 had an option to selectively install individual Office components but I can't find a way of doing this in Office 2016. Has anyone found a way of selectively configuring Office 2016 to remove some of the bloatware I don't need (e.g. Skype for Business)?

Answer:Office 2016 - Uninstall Individual Programs?

Would the Office 2016 Deployment Tool allow you to do this? See the last item under Key tasks in the following article:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Configuration-options-for-the-Office-2016-Deployment-Tool-d3879f0d-766c-469c-9440-0a9a2a905ca8?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

It looks to me like it is possible but not recommended. Lower down in the reference article there are commands for excluding certain components.

Hi Folks,

The title of the thread says it all really.

I have legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate on my PC. I have just bought a copy of Office 2016 Professional Plus through the HUP.

I haven't installed Office 2016 yet - I use Office 2010 at work and find using Custom Animations in PowerPoint tricky compared to Office 2007.

I'd like to install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 until I have tried Office 2016 to see if the Custom Animations in PP are easier than the 2010 version before switching completely.

My question is, can I install Office 2016 alongside Office 2007 without conflicts - switching between versions without a problem or will installing Office 2016 screw Office 2007 or worse FUBAR both Office installations or my PC.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,

Zaph

Hi  Newbie in UK here and need some pointers on this subject, MS Office Home & Business 2016  I'm in the process of buying a new laptop with Win 10 to replace my aging Dell on Vista (yes, its ancient!). I have found another Dell that I want to buy but adding the additional Office H&B 2016 significantly bumps up the price. So my query is: 1. Buying Office H&B 2016 from an external seller that I'd found on line is significantly cheaper than from Dell or from MS. How do I know the package is a genuine one and not an imitation/fake from the external seller? 2. The risk of buying 1 that turns out to be fake could be costly, e.g. result in a complete Windows install, or cause even more damage which may require Dell support, which they may not assist due to the Office H&B 2016 is purchased from an external seller?  What are your thoughts? HI,
I just bought Office Home and Student 2016 last August 7, 2016 from a mall in Long Island, NY. I tried to install it but it gave me a message:"The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem", whenever I click on Excel or Word.

I tried reinstalling it 6 x and no progress. I tried uninstalling and installing the program, the same message I got. I tried Windows 7 update but it seems there is none.

The old Excel and Word 7 were package installed in my laptop computer when I bought it from Best Buy in 2011. I bought the MS Office because I had a computer crash. My Toshiba laptop recovered a few of my files. Luckily I have a record of my anti-virus registration and I was able to reinstall it. Now I need MS Office to access some of my files in my USB.

Some recommendation I got was to temporarily disconnect the anti-virus or the firewall. I do not know how to do this. Someone please help me!

I currently have a licence for Office 2010 for 3 PCs installed on 3 PCs.

I want to retire Office 2010 on my main desktop PC and use Office 2016 instead for which I've bough a cheap single PC licence. I then want to use the spare Office 2010 licence on a fourth PC (but only 3 will be using Office 2010).

What's the best way to install Office 2016 to keep all of my email settings? I'm assuming I should install Office 2016 in parallel with Office 2010 so the new Office 2016 installation picks up my email settings, then uninstall Office 2010 to free up 1 licence. Is this correct or is there a better way?

Desktop Computer running Windows 10, I'm currently using Microsoft Office 2007, and use Outlook for my emails.
I've recently got Office 2016 on DVD, can I just install 2016 over the top of 2007 ?, or am I better saving all my contacts/ emails and uninstall 2007 first. Thanks

Answer:Best Way To Install Office 2016

There have been considerable compatibility isues with Office 2016 and Microsoft Exchange 2007, but I have no personal knowledge of any problems installing over Office 2007.
Your suggestion of backing up contact details (and emails, as you use Outlook) and then running a clean install of Office 2016 might just be the safest route in the circumstances. You can then import your contacts and emails.

Good day all,

Sorry if this has been asked before but after I installed Office 2016 Pro, I noticed that it immediately pooped all of the Office apps onto my PC including ones that I really don't need. There's no custom option to select the ones you want and the ones you don't (unlike Office 2013).
I read that it's apparently intended to do so and Microsoft actually has called it a technology (Click To Run Technology).

I was wondering if there's ANY way to be able to exclude apps before the install so that they won't install. Is there a file that I can edit and if so, how exactly should I edit it?

Answer:No Custom install for Office 2016?

Folks have complained about this same problem in the Windows 10 forums -- and the response there is that MS has removed the option to choose what components to install.

I have used various Office product throughout the years and on install had the opportunity to "Custom Install" which allowed all types of changes from programme file locations to programmes to be loaded.
My (detachable) laptop has a limited hard-drive size, and I would like to just install Outlook, Word and Excel, however I am not given the opportunity to choose what is install, and if I go to "add/remove programmes" I see uninstall; change; repair; however the change (which use to allow change of programmes loaded) does not give me the choice.

Is there any way to define an installation directory other than C: for office 2016? I tried installing it a few months ago and there didn't seem to be via the installer, and the Office Deployment Tool didn't let to choose the installation target directory, only the source.

How could they think for one second that it was appropriate to strip this option out of the installer?

I've had about enough of Microsoft's "fuck you, we know best" attitude. I just stopped using Windows 10 due to how increasingly difficult it had become to prevent indiscriminate automatic driver updates.

Hi there
Windows update seems to get Office Updates into a total twist.

Apparently 2 ways of installing Office -- either the "Click to Install" from Ms directly or install from the MSDN iso.

If you install from the "Click to install" then updates come via clicking Update in the account settings.

If you install from the MSDN iso then updates come from standard Windows updates (enable update for other products from Ms).

However even with the click to install version you still see some updates coming via Windows update - and sometimes these fail.

Why Ms has two different update mechanisms for essentially the same product seems totally BONKERS and confusing to the user.

Note also if you have say the MSDN Office iso installed and now you want to add PROJECT 2016 then install fails with "Cannot install Click to Install Office products with Other versions -- so it would seem the only way is to uninstall the MSDN version and install the whole kybosh via the Click to install method.

A Real Pain if you need to install this stuff on a load of PC's as each one then needs a download (approx. 3GB each time ) - I'm using a VL version BTW.

The MSDN Iso is easy to install locally on a number of PC's.

Please FIX this mess Ms.

I am using a Dell Inspiron One PC with Windows 7. It was given to me after being used a short time by my son. Evidently MS Office Home & Student 2010 was installed when PC was made. He never used it and neither did I. I have Office 2007 installed and I use it. I tried to open the program and I get the "License error" so I assume it was never registered. I tried to uninstall through remove programs and it only give me a window saying "wait for uninstall to complete." It does nothing. It really isn't hurting anything by being there but MS Updates keeps wanting to download and install updates for it in the amount of 300+ mbs. IS there a way to get rid of the program?

Hi everyone,

I have tried everything under the sun to get my MS Office working (2010 Home & Business). This is the third time I have had such issues with it. The first two times it miraculously worked on it's own. This time it seems to be dead for good.

When I try and open office it just stays at the "starting" box and doesn't go any further. I am unable to open it via winword.exe either.

I am able to open it in safe mode, but when I try and save a file it just freezes my computer, same if I also try and close the program.

I have attempted a repair and an uninstall and neither work, they just get to half way and hang (for hours.) I have done a "clean boot" I have tried to restore my system to a point when MS was working but I get some 0x8007005 error saying a virus protection may be in the way. I disabled the virus scan and it still occurred. (I am using Avira Anti Virus)

Something else to note, I also have open office & PDF Complete and they are also freezing in the same manner as MS Office.

My question is; Does anyone else have some possible solutions for my problem or is a complete system over hall in the midst?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Tanya.

According to all sources that I could find on-line, it appears that rules are part of pst file.

However, this does not happening in my case.

I use outlook 2016 (part of MS office 2016) and have several accounts linked with this ? From my ISP (POP), Hotmail, yahoo, Gmail. I have rules only for account from my ISP.

Recently I deleted my Hotmail account, removed it from my outlook, deleted associated ost file. Then I had second thought and re-activated this hotmal account the following day. Added this to my outlook. To my surprise all rules vanished. Not a single rule remained. I did NOT have any rules setup for Hotmail account. Even column details for message folders (part of setting) got changed.

I decided to check further. Copied my pst files to another computer which had same version of outlook installed and has exactly the same setup.

Now I added some rules on my 1st computer. Checked the 2nd computer. The same rule appeared there. That means pst file does not contain rules.

So, Where are they?

Hope someone can help me. I am lost!!
Thanks

I'm running windows XP pro. I was upgrading from Office 2007 pro to Office 2010 pro and chose upgrade as my method as apposed to uninstall and install. About 90% through the process the upgrade locks as does the computer. I waited about 10 minutes hoping for it to respond and it never did. So I opened the task manager and ending the process.

So now Office 2007 is gone and 2010 is not installed?
* So I start it over again and I get an error attached below #1

* I try to uninstalled office 2007 on the add/remove programs and when I click on "uninstall" the screen blinks and nothing happens. Same thing when I click on change. This is the only Office program listed (I don't find 2010 anywhere)

* So I downloaded and tried/ran Microsoft fix it to uninstall which ran but did nothing, program still shows as there (though it's not)

* Then I go into the installer folder under windows and locate the MS Office 2007 pro msi and try to uninstall it here. I get the error message below #2

* went into the registry and located Office in under "hkey current user" and removed it. The went in the registry and located it under hkey local machine but I get denied when I click delete. The program still shows on the add/remove programs list and when I run setup it sees it as it asks me to upgrade.

Bottom line is I don't have either. I can't use 2007 and can't install 2010. Not sure what to do now?
Any help would be very much appreciated as I use this program to do my job... Read more

I have a copy of PC Office 2010 Home & Student for 3 PC's and I want to know if I uninstall it from one of my PC's whether I can install it again on a new PC?

Answer:3 PC Licence Office Uninstall & Install

Yes you can, I have done this many times, but often you are asked to call Microsoft for activation. It is a lengthy but automated process of entering groups of numbers but it has worked every time for me.

My son's computer got the blue scrren on start up (XP PRO) so I did a repair install. When it was done everything was fine except for Outlok or any other Office program. When we tried to start them we got an error message.
So I went to the Microsoft site and tried to do an update, tried 4 times and got an error message.
So I tried to uninstall office, it said I can't cuz service pack 1 had not ben successfully installed, so can't take it out, can't put it in.
Next I tried Norton clean sweep which said the programs were uninstalled. I go to Add remove and try to uninstall, no luck.
Now I can't do either, what ha\ve I done this time??

Thanks

I've been having problems with Outlook 2000. I don't have access because of an OLE registration error and that it isn't correctly installed. It isn't opening and I'm told to run set up, but that won't fix the problem. Then I uninstall it and install again and Outlook hasn't changed and I get the same OLE error message. When I uninstalled Office 2000 I lost all of my contacts in Outlook Express 5. When I reinstalled all of my contacts were back. Is reformatting my HD the only answer? Thanks.

I have been trying to uninstall my programs as part of a clean-up job on my HD. However, I could not uninstall Office XP properly. (I kept getting a message similar to the one below) So, I ruthlessly (stupidly perhaps) simply deleted all the OXP folders and files I could find.
Although that got rid of it, now I cannot reinstall it.
I keep getting a message which says:
"This patch package cannot be opened. Verify that the patch exsists and you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify this is a valid Windows Installer package"

I have checked w/ MS support and tried all of the fixes they reccomend--none work.

I hope this is the best place for this question, and that is does not need to be in the Business Application Forum.

Ok, My good freinds and neighbors ahve 2 home business laptops, with xp,sp3 installed. These are NOT oem windows, but the full cd version. The lady of the house thought she had a rootkit on her laptop, so she did a fresh clean install of Xp, without asking anyone for help or advice.

After visiting MS for all updates, and revalidating he OS, she then grabbed what she thought was her cd copy of MS office pro 2003, and installed it.

Upon going back to MS, for latest updates, to incl the latest 2007 office compatability packs, she was informed by MS that her office 2003 was an illegal copy.

All of this occured 6 weeks ago, and she has just been clicking away the illegal copy notice on her screen, and continuing to do her home business on the laptop.

As it turns out, she grabbed her husbands copy of office, and mistakenly installed it on her system. She didnt realize that it would make any difference which cd she used

She has now gotten to the point where she cant stand the warning pop-up anymore, and wants to reinstall office 2003, with her own legal version of Office 2003 pro.

I have agreed to help her do this, and I have the following questions:

1. When I reinstall the correct copy of office, to include the correct product key, do I first need to uninstall all traces of the incorrect version of the software.

2. Will there be any need to edit the registry,... Read more

Answer:I need to uninstall/re-install M.S. Office pro 2003

Hmm... Probably uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2003 would be the best course of action, but there is something to look at first. I think somewhere on that popup should be a link or something to allow you to validate a genuine copy of MS Office. Check it out, and also check around the Microsoft website (http://www.microsoft.com/) for more info.

But yeah, it would probably be easier all round just to reinstall Office completely. You shouldn't have to worry about messing with the Registry, nor should it affect your system files. But like any other system changes, probably best to do a backup of your important stuff in any case.

I have an HP OJ 500. I want it to run under WIN XP. I already downloaded (from HP) the file
oj500_ENU_xp1605.exe which is offered as doing the job. I tried to install it and got a faulty installation. When I try to reinstall I get a message saying the installer has detected a previous installation, which I am to remove using the uninstaller in the HP OJ 500 Program
Group. But that step fails because an .isu file is reported as invalid or corrupt. So I can't reinstall because I can't uninstall. What to do?

Answer:uninstall / install HP Office Jet Series 500

I think the HP website has a manual uninstallation program that you can download.

I normally installed "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 Preview", I used it for some times and then when I tried to uninstall it(from Control Pannel) I got message(shown in picture), so I used installation file and uninstalled it successfully.
Then I tried to install "MS Office 2010" and again the same message(tried copying DVD content on HDD, restarting PC) nothing, no way to install ?

My suggestion is to take the hard drive from this computer and install it in another computer as a slave drive and when the drive is recognized then manually backup all of the important data on the drive to another media like CD-R's, DVD or other media you prefer.

When this is done then return the hard drive to the original computer and do a clean install with format and install everything al over again.

I have just acquired a new computer running windows 7. Acquired office 2010 and installed it. but had to uninstall because of some conflicts. In trying to reinstall on same machine am now getting error saying unable to install and I cannot remember what was said exactly. I believe it is something to do with a reinstall and using the same product key. Have talked with a couple of people from they say Microsoft, but they are thrid party vendors and their object for the most part was to try and sell me antivuis software and other stuff to keep my new machine running. They said I had all these corrupted files etc. I have run malware, and anti spy ware and came up with two small infections, I'm also running Microsoft essential and installed that before I did anything on the web. I told them to take a hike. So what is preventing me from loading the Microsoft 10 and what do I need to do. Look forward to the experts out there figuring out this problem. Gary

I've got a Samsung notebook running Win7 HP x64. Office 2010 came preloaded on it. When you click on it it present the options to buy or enter a key for the full prog, or to use Starter for free.

Starter will not install. It goes through all the motions and then errors out after several minutes.

Neither will it uninstall. MS Office 2010 Click to Run is listed in Programs and Features, but the uninstall operation "cannot be completed".

So I'm stuck. I even tried Revo uninstaller, to no avail. I would appreciate any leads on this. I've checked several forums, and haven't come up with a solution yet.

Bascally, I tried to replace office 2003 with a more recent version and found an .iso file on the internet. The instalation went smooth and the program worked fine, but the problem is that I mounted the iso with DAEMON tools, which came together with a browser hijacker called yessearches. I tried to remove it using this method, but at step 2 my computer couldn't connect to the internet. I called my mobile provider but they couldn't help me as it appeared the problem was that adw cleaner changed things in the registry. So I want to take it off my pc all together.I have a new copy of XP Home with the correct Product Key etc. What I want to know is what is the easiest way to get rid of XP Pro and install XP Home? Can I install it over the top or do I have to remove XP Pro completely. Will I have to re install my internet?I have the disk for Xp Home, my internet installation disk etc. But no disk or anything for XP Pro.Sorry if I rambled on..ThanksSue

Answer:Uninstall XP Pro - Install New XP Home

Make sure you BACK UP!!! anything you want to keep, music, photo, FBI watch list, CTU database... All you need to do is to boot from your Windows Home CD, it will guide you through the entire freash installation, format your hd, etc. As far as the Windows Pro, I say forget about it, since you are using a legit Windows Home. After that you will need to reinstall all programs include your internet setup.B.

I am trying to uninstall win 98 as my XP home is for a new computer and it is expecting a clean hard drive. There is no uninstall windows in the uninstall programs. I looked at microsoft and they give a way to do it from command at start up but I am unable to get into command. When I press f8 I get a few choices, probably the one I want is Safe mode Command but when I select it the computer still boots up as normal. What am I doing wrong or is there an easier way to get XP home installed.

Answer:Uninstall win 98 to install XP home

The option you probably want is "Command prompt only" This will take you to C:\> From here you can format your hard drive and thereby remove Win98.But you need to take care and ensure that your PC has a bootable CD drive to make use of the WinXP CD.Be sure to create a boot floppy first and be certain that it works.

Hello,

I'm having a crazy two days. Two days ago I installed the Windows Update and it messed up my computer, in particular, IE6. I couldn't get into Control Panel or any windows function, couldn't fill out forms and the cursor wouldn't even go in any boxes. I read in one of the forums to go into Safe Mode and open Control Panel , which I did and from there removed the IE6 and Outlook Express updates. I can now get into my Control Panel and other stuff without the error 29 message. Microsoft Outlook 2000 was working perfectly fine during all these problems but now, since I uninstalled the, I can't do anything but open Outlook. It will not allow me to click any menu buttons or send or receive e-mail. I got out to my own domain server to get e-mails. In addition to that, when I put the CD in, it doesn't recognize it! I can browse the files but it says it's not valid. It won't start installation up so I can do a fix and repair or reinstallation. It worked fine the last time I used it after I had added the Service Packs.

Even Outlook Express will not open. From the CD, the error message says, Unknown Error. Also, when I'm in Outlook and I click on tools, I get the following message when I click on tools/accounts:

"The operation failed due to registry or installation problem. An OLE registration error occured. The program is not correctly installed. Run setup again for the program"

I don't understand why the CD is not... Read more

We currently use Office 2007 and Office 2010 on our about 20 workstations. I'm looking to move to MS office 365 for hosted exchange. I found out that as of the first of this year, Microsoft no longer support Outlook 2007 or 2010 for hosted exchange. It seems to be working just fine so far at another site I'm involved with. The issue is that if you ever contact support, they will blame the version of Outlook you're on. So, I'm looking at options for upgrading.

Do you guys that are on office 365 for email using the premium version that includes the office subscription or buy Office 2016?

For the most part, we just need outlook, word and excel. We do have 6 people that will need powerpoint also.

Just looking for a recommendation from you guys on what makes the most sense.

Thanks!

Office 2016 Installation Routine Deleting Older Stand-alone Apps

I can't say I wasn't warned. I was part way through installing Microsoft Office 2016 on my primary workstation when I got a message that said, "Stop, you should wait to install Office 2016." The error message went on to say that if I decided to continue anyway, my copy of Microsoft Visio Standard 2013 would be removed. Since I had the original disk from when I purchased the software, I went ahead. Bad move. It turns out that when Microsoft says that Visio 2013 won't work with Office 2016, it means it won't even have the chance to work. Any attempt to reinstall the software will be thwarted. The fact that you paid for the software is beside the point. You're basically out of luck. When I went to the Microsoft community forums, which is where Microsoft handles much of its tech support, I discovered that I wasn't alone. Apparently hundreds of people who'd purchased stand-alone Microsoft Office products were affected, and they weren't happy about it.

Furthermore, the problem extended far beyond Visio. Users with Microsoft Project, Publisher, Access, InfoPath and SharePoint Designer were also affected. Likewise, Microsoft customers who purchased Office Apps that are normally part of Office suites but may have been purchased separately, such as Outlook 2013, were also affected.

Hi,

Before installing Office 365 (office 2016) and onedrive, my username to logon to my laptop, was "AJ ANNING" and a specific pAasswAord. Now my username does not show up at logon. "JAMES ANNING" is what shows up, and the username is now my email "[email protected]" and the password is different. Going to user accounts in control panel the only user is "[email protected]". Also, I can no longer access 3 of my network drives.

So even though "the password is different" you are still able to log onto the computer? I installed Office 365 on a new Notebook on Thursday and none of the log-in for the computer changed. As for the Networked drives, you may need to use File Explorer to Disconnect the drives then Map them again [I've had to a couple of times in the past].

The issue is specific to Office 2016 on Win 10 (Office 2016 on Win 7, no problem, Office 2010 on Win 10, no problem). Certain documents (reported by a user who receives documents with Japanese text, haven't seen it happen with others) have the layout messed up, a 2 page Word doc gets spread over 4 pages, and I've been given some sample powerpoint slides which have text overflowing the end of the slide.

Word doc was originally in Legacy 2003 format, I did manage to make this particular document display correctly by saving it in .docx format, then enabling compatibility changes via vba, setting to 2010 compatibility and enabling "Use printer metrics to lay out document" based on what I read here: BUG!! Word 2016 fails to print margins correctly / messes - Microsoft Community

The other sample file I received was a .pptx - haven't been able to find corresponding compatibility options in Powerpoint.

Wouldn't be quite so annoying if they didn't both display perfectly in Windows 7.

Answer:Office Document layout/margins overflow on Office 2016 + Win 10

Turns out it was some sort of font substitution issue. I noticed the fonts in Word/Powerpoint weren't present in the Windows font dir. Copied them over from another Win 7 machine, suddenly everything looks fine.

Not sure why Office 2010 did a better job of it than 2016, I couldn't really pick if there was a difference in the Japanese characters before and after the font, only that the page layout was stuffed...

Since upgrading my main desktop to Windows 10, I began having trouble with my Office 2013 installation. I would get the "swirling circle" and the "application has stopped responding" error messages very frequently. I was able to buy the Office 2016 suite for $10 through my employer (Microsoft HUP) and since upgrading the application, I have not seen the error. Of course, I've only had Office 2016 on my PC for one day, so I'll keep checking to see if the problem returns. Has anyone else had issues with Office 2013 and Win10? Thanks!

Answer:Office 2013 issues, upgraded to Office 2016...

In fact Office is working nicely for me in Windows 10. I had PCs with Office 2007 and even with the old Office 2003 and I have not yet had complaints about crashes.

Microsoft offers a FixIt tool, which allows you to do a clean uninstall of the Office 2013 files so that you can afterwards create a clean Office installation again. As an additional ressort, there even is a description of how to manually uninstall Office 2013. I did not have to test it, but that might have helped you as well.

Answer:Migrating Outlook from Office 2013 to Office 2016

You didn't say what types of accounts they are, but mostly likely there isn't a way, unless there is a third-party tool or these are Exchange accounts.

Hi there

I think this comment is allowed - there is an NDA but I think this is OK. The latest update installs OFFICE 2016 just fine and works OK. Office 2010 is left untouched so you can run BOTH concurrently.

OUTLOOK 2016 though uses the same data file as Outlook 2010 so SEND from outlook 2010 hoses up with "Cant access Outlook data file".

However once you've sent the email with Outlook 2016 you can see it in the SENT folder of both Outlook 2010 and 2016 so using Outlook 2016 during the preview won't cause carnage to your existing office outlook.

So far very impressed -- FORGET OFFICE 2013 completely. 2016 is STREETS better and you can get rid of that hideous over white theme too. NDA so can't post image.

Note I'm using x-64 for both Office 2010 and 2016.

If you want to try the Links were open this morning -- this could have been an error because they might close again soon.
So far so good -- note some people get activation message unless they have Office 365 subscription --I don't have and didn't seem to get that message.

Am using Windows 10 x-64 Enterprise as the OS I'm testing this on --running on a REAL machine, build 9926.

Cheers

I recently made a clean install of windows xp home edition sp2 on my pc.
Then I tried to install office 2000 from a cd and the installation stopped in the middle. No returning error messages. I cancelled installation and went from the beginning but got the same. I have used the cd on my other computer and worked fine. Any suggestions??

I just built my computer yesterday (MSI X48Platinum, Q9550, 8GB DDR3, Radeon 4850, 2 Velociraptors Raid0) with Vista Ultimate 64. Everything went really well. But, when I tried to install Office 2007 Home and Student, it said that it can't find the /en/powerpoint.cad file and it asked me to search for it. I could not get it to find it. I tried to stop installation and try again, but it did the same thing. I've installed Home and Student on XP and Vista 32-bit without any problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem or know what to do about it?

Answer:Can't install Office 2007 Home and Student

Tried it again today, and it decided to install... and fast. So, I guess, problem solved

Hi All,

It's been sometime since I've had to do a clean install of my Home & Student 2007. All I can remember is those silly little boxes.

How do I install the complete package from my disk.

Thanks,

As the title states, since loading Win 10, I have been unable to install Office 365 Home. I have an active subscription that is installed on another device and I still have four more devices on which I can install the suite.

I've gone to the 365 site, downloaded the installer and it consistently fails to install (fail point is not consistent).

Any assistance is appreciated.

I purchased Office 2007 Home and Student Version and tried to install it on my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. Setup won't proceed, gives me the error message that the .dll file, Office.en-us\1033\dwintl20.dll is missing and setup cannot proceed. I downloaded the missing .dll file and it is on my computer, but the Office installation cannot find it. Is there any work around for this? This laptop has never had any version of Office installed on it.

Answer:Can't install Office 2007 Home and Student

Did you Install it or just download it?To install it:Select StartSelect RunType in:regsvr32 DWINTL20.DLLSee if that helps.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

Hi there

It looks like that a Student and Teacher edition of Office 2016 will be available at around 90 GBP - 105 EUR while an Office 365 subscription will be around 60 GBP - 73 EUR for 1 year. Since the Student edition will work on 3 machines it seems to me the subscription model is bad value compared with Office 2016.

Now there might be a caveat -- not sure if OUTLOOK 2016 is included with Student and Teacher --we'll have to wait and see.

There *Might* also be an Upgrade price from Office 2010 / 2013 too.

Hi there

will office 2016 be available as a stand alone (non subscription) product for non corporate users. If I follow my link to Buy Now from the trial preview it only offers me Office 365 or Office 2013.

I'm NOT interested in subscription software or Office 2013.

I suppose then back to Office 2010 !!!!. - I'll see if Office 2016 appears within the next few days --still have 70 days left on the trial preview.

Cheers

Answer:Office 2016 -- Buy Now only links to Office 365 (subscription)

Jimbo, it's early yet and I can't see 2016 on any Microsoft sites, I'd expect it to start showing mid morning US west coast time.

I bought my Office 365 for cheap in college. It is registered to me under a college email that I no longer can access.
(this is a problem because I used that account to sign up for Bing Ads and the customer support is always messing with me to prove it is my account, hard to do when you cannot access the old email, it is a pain in the rear)
Anyway, if I buy 365 again and register it under a new email, will I lose access to all the storage I have in my school account, or will that remain. Can the accounts be synced? (the on-screen prompts imply they can be synced, but I don't trust MS enough to not verify that this is true)

I assume if I just renew it under the now-defunct email address nothing will change. Except I will be out $69 for a 1 year subscription.

What if I just buy Office 2016 for $71 and keep it for several years.
(if these guys are for real, https://www.istarsoftware.com/112-microsoft-office-2016)

Is there a difference for my purposes? I use MS Word, Excel and Outlook daily.
But I use them at the novice to lower average level user level.

Do you think Office 2016, that will last for several years and is cheaper, will be OK?

I use Outlook to access various emails and I do some very simple spread sheet manipulations with Excel.

To be honest, if it weren't for Outlook I would probably not buy it at all. I like the email client. Otherwise Open Office (I think it is called) is more than sufficient I would think.

It downloaded OK, but did not complete the installation.

Answer:Office 2010 Home & Student will not download & install.

You said "reinstall" -- was this installed before to Win8 DP? OR was it installed to another OS or PC? You need to ensure that you haven't already used up your three activations.

Hey guys,

I just bought Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 because I need it for writing my papers and the like for college. When I open the installer, I get through the steps from the serial key to terms of service agreement and finally installation options all fine. But about halfway through the installation progression, I get a message saying, "Error 1303. Setup cannot access the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Shared\EQUATION. Verify that the folder exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it." So I went and looked for it and it does exist so I clicked on it and it gave me a message saying access denied. I thought that was supposed to happen so I clicked retry on the installer and got the same deal again. So I went back to the EQUATION file and clicked properties and then the security bar and under the owner section it said owner could not be displayed. So I tried to change the owner to my user account, which is administrator, and got a message saying, "Unable to set new owner on EQUATION. Access denied."

I need help to get this problem solved so I can get to work, thanks.
