I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I seem to be stuck on Windows Insider build 14342 (Version 1511 OS Build 14342.1002). Since this build was installed, I haven't gotten any other insider builds.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I want to avoid having to reinstall if possible.
Is there a way to manually install build 14352, the one that followed the one I'm stuck on?

Answer:Windows 10 insider build update stuck on 80%

The Insider Previews aren't stable releases they are test builds... you shouldn't use them on a primary machine. If you need to recover files follow this guide:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/data-recovery-using-fedora/
You can download Windows 10 and clean install:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-windows-10-oem-and-retail-iso/
If you want to remain on the Insider Preview. Use the Insider Preview .iso:

Can you disable those you don't need? Keep messaging enabled to run in backgroundIn battery section, you can also set up battery saver to kick in when the battery reaches a certain percentage. My battery level was on 15% then I went for a nap and after waking up, the battery level was still on 15%. I checked if the battery adapter was plugged in correctly and even tested it on another laptop to see if It works and it did. My laptop does charge but only the indicator doesn't work properly as it should. My guess is that there should a problem with the drivers because when I opened device manager and reinstall the AC drivers, it then displays the current battery level but the problem still persists.
Thanks!

Today, my laptop finally updated to the insider preview I opted into... Everything welt well... Until I was at the desktop.. The brightness hotkeys don't do anything. the brightness controller in the Windows Mobility thing moves, but doesn't change anything at all... I've tried installing different drivers. The screen is blindingly high... How can I get the brightness back??

Answer:Brightness broken on Windows 10 build 14342

Reinstall GPU drivers? Reinstall keyboard/hotkey software for your brightness to work?

Remember, they're previews for a reason - expect bugs. If you're going to be using the previews, make sure you're reporting any issues via the Feedback app.

I'm a Insider member since Oct 2014, get all the builds till the official launch of Windows 10 last July.

A few days before the official launch my Windows 10 TP (build 10240) had a boot problem and gave me a UEFI boot error, since the Insider Program was locked and I can't get any Insider Preview build to work I had format my PC and install my Windows 8 Pro and follow the upgrade path to Windows 10. (Reserve a copy, wait for the update and install the Windows 10 (Pro) and activate with my valid Windows 8 Key, no hassles there.

After success upgrade I went to Security and Updates > Windows Update > Advanced Options and hit the Get Insider builds > Get Started button, restart my PC and check if Fast Ring was selected and it was. Last month it came out Build 10525 and later on Build 10532 and I didn't receive any of those.

I tried to force the download by hitting constantly the Check update button on Windows Update, but the only thing my Windows Update download is Windows Defender definitions. So, I tried the following: in Advanced Option, I hit the Stop receive preview builds, restart PC and go there again I hit the button Get Preview Builds, restart again and wait a few days... no luck.

Since I don't had any luck there I post some questions in Microsoft Answers and report the problem, a few days later receive some answers, but none of the those answers worked out and one of them seems to me a bit stupid, so the suggestions was:

Today is the official release of Windows 10. I want to upgrade to the release version. I'm checking for updates and there's no update available.
I'm running on build 10166. I tried rolling back to 8.1, but it recovered to the same build (10166) of Windows 10 IP. I have lost my activation as well and can't reactivate Windows.
Anyone know a better way to update to the release version of Windows 10?

So while upgrading L1520 to build 14342.1003, after the churning to gears has stopped the phone restarted and then switched off. Its not stuck on the blue windows logo, there is nothing on the display. I waited for 40-50 mins and then did the soft reset(volume down key + power key) the phone restarted, the Nokia logo appeared and once the windows blue logo came up. It sit on that logo for a second or two and then goes blank (I think it shuts down). The device recovery tool recognizes the phone even when the screen is blank but does not show me the recovery option on the "Reading device information" screen. Is my phone bricked? Is there anyway to recover my phone from this state? The device recovery tool seems to be eternally waiting on "Reading device information" screen.
Please help!

Hello Pkshadow Welcome to the Ten Forums!

The prompting you are seeing is most likely to get you to notice and install updates that have been accumulating. Otherwise that is a strange one. You might have to sign into an MS account if you already had one setup in order to see that account's information updated on the change from Insider to Anniversary. That would then see everything synced properly.

The latest insider update is stuck at 23% on my surface pro. What should I do?It has been psycho 23% for approximately three hours.

Answer:Insider update stuck

You can keep waiting (I wouldn't, but patience has never been one of my more outstanding virtues), or you can forcibly reboot your machine. Then, you can either install and try the Windows Update MiniTool (which often works when Windows Update does not) or you could visit the Microsoft Catalog and manually download KB3206309 (except I can't find it there -- does anybody know of another source for this update? I'm thinking it's fast ring only, and doesn't hit the catalog until the update goes out to the slow ring. Is that correct?).
I guess that means you should try WUMT (Windows Update MiniTool) and hope for the best!
HTH,

The only update I've seen mentioned is to Build 14926 and may not yet be available to everyone in the Insider program, just as 14915 took awhile to get to those running 14905. Just requires a bit of patience.

Don't think it's a problem. I had the same issue, but yesterday was prompted to jump to the latest build. Unless anyone posts a better solution, I would say wait it out and keep checking for updates in the meantime.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Build 2017 is taking place right now here in Seattle and during this morning?s keynote, Terry Myerson has unveiled the next Windows 10 update arriving in the fall ?? the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. You can read about everything announced this morning here in this blog post from Terry. Windows Insiders who have been running builds from our Development Branch over the last few weeks have already been helping test the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. And we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16193 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring today along with Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15213 to Insiders in the Fast ring.

If you are at Build, be sure to stop by the Windows Insider Program booth! Brandon and Jason will be there as well as several of our Community Champs such as our favorite emoji master, Jen Gentleman!

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16288 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring only (not Skip Ahead). As we mentioned previously, we are now at the point of the development cycle for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update where our focus is now on stabilization for release to the world. This means that we are releasing new builds to Insiders more quickly and that these builds will include mostly bug fixes. You?ll notice that this build continues to include a bunch of good bug fixes Insiders will enjoy.

On Build 16288, you will notice that the watermark at the lower right-hand corner of the desktop has disappeared. You will also see that the OS now reports as ?Version 1709? which is the official version number for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update release. However, this is NOT the final build as we?re not done yet. We?re just now beginning the phase of checking in final code to prepare for the final release. So we will have more builds to release to Windows Insiders between now and then. And the desktop watermark may re-appear in these builds.

We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15250 to Insiders in the Fast ring.

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are excited to release Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16232 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring! We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15228 to Insiders in the Fast ring. Earlier this week, we announced new end-to-end security features coming with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and this build for PC includes some of those new security features.

A note about app updates
In order to provide Windows customers with the highest quality inbox apps possible, we will pause testing new versions of our inbox apps with Windows Insiders. This means that Insiders will not receive app updates from the Windows Store for our inbox apps that are newer than the apps included in the build. Insiders may notice that some features we were testing in our inbox apps ? including recent updates to the Photos app ? will temporarily disappear. This is because some of our inbox apps won?t have all the latest new features without getting an update from the Store. It is critical that Insiders are experiencing the same version of Windows that will be released as the default version for all Windows users. Insiders will once again start receiving app updates in the very near future. As always, your feedback will help us tremendously to define the overall Windows experience and insure the quality of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is excellent for our customers.

Windows lets you link your phone and PC
You may remember at Build we talked about PCs and phones working better together. With Build 16251, we are introducing the first set of features that enable ?linking? your phone to your PC. This build?s scenario is focused on cross-device web-browsing. Today, we?re asking for you Windows Insiders to help us test this experience out using your Android phones. Support for iPhone is coming very soon, stay tuned.

To get started, after installing today?s new build on your PC, go to Settings > Phone and link your phone. Having you link your phone ensures that your sessions from your phone are continued only on to the PC that you?ve chosen. After adding your phone to be linked, you will receive an SMS from us directing you to install a test application called ?Microsoft Apps? for Android that completes the link between your phone and PC and enables one of our first cross device browsing scenarios.

After you?ve linked your phone, just go to your phone and start browsing the web. When y... Read more

What?s New in Build 16257 For PC

Eye Control (beta)
Yesterday, we announced Eye Control, which makes Windows 10 more accessible by empowering people with disabilities to operate an on-screen mouse, keyboard, and text-to-speech experience using only their eyes. The experience requires a compatible eye tracker, like the Tobii Eye Tracker 4C, which unlocks access to the Windows operating system to be able to do the tasks one could previously accomplish with a physical mouse and keyboard. We are starting by supporting the EN-US keyboard layout, and we are looking to expand to more keyboard layouts in the future. We are excited to release this experience as a beta and would love your feedback!

Setting up Eye Control:
Own or purchase a Tobii Eye Tracker 4C (Coming next will be support for Tobii Dynavox PCEye Mini, PCEyePlus, EyeMobile Plus, and I-series.)
Download and update to Tobii?s Core eye tracking hot fix release 2.10.11.6458 and run calibration with your own profile
Check for Windows Updates; the new Tobii Eye Tracker HIDClass Driver should be found on Windows Update and installed automatically.
Make sure your Tobii ... Read more

Note that if you joined Skip Ahead and leave it to take this build, you will be unable to re-join Skip Ahead. As we mentioned in the blog post for our flight on Wednesday, we are now at the point of the development cycle for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update where our focus is now on stabilization for release to the world. This means that we intend to release new builds to Insiders more quickly and that these builds will include mostly bug fixes. You?ll notice that this build includes a bunch of good bug fixes Insiders will enjoy.

NOTE: Some of the x64 versions of Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise for this build in languages such as EN-GB, FR-FR, DE-DE, RU-RU, PT-BR and several others are not yet published. We?re working to have these published shortly.

We are also releasing Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 15245 to Insiders in the Fast ring.

Also ? join us on Tuesday August 29th at 10am Pacific for our Engineering Systems webcast on our Mixer channel!

General changes, improvements, and fixes for PC

I have been successfully updating as a Insider Win 10 since Oct 2014 with no problems. I recently did a clean install of build 11102 and it seems ok. A few slow downs and hangs but generally ok.
Recently I received notification from MS that build 14257 was available for download. I downloaded the file as always and it went through the usual prep and getting ready etc. When it rebooted to start the install I get a screen asking me to "Choose your Keyboard L/O" I choose United States and then it reverts back to "Choose an Option" I choose "continue & Exit to Win 10" and it boots back into my build 11102. I've tried this three or four times with the same result.
I have downloaded and run the MS Fit-It for upgrades to no avail. I have tried using a Local account, still does the same thing. I created an ISO TechNet and it does the same thing when trying to do a clean install.
Any ideas??
I have run DISM and SFC /scannow

Answer:My Insider build 11102 won't update to 14257

You can create an iso to manually clean install by extracting install.esd and converting to an iso using esd-iso tool in tutorials section.

I seem to be stuck on 10525. I keep getting the message that a restart is scheduled for update to th2_release Professional 10532, but no matter how many times I restart it, it won't install the update. Hell, it won't even restart automatically most of the time. I don't get an error message or anything, just the same message that a scheduled restart is in effect. I've also tried disabling insider builds, but when I reboot, it's still enabled. I can't roll back to 10240 because it will delete everything no matter what I do. I don't have the option to save my stuff. I'm not worried about my files, they're backed up. I just don't want to reinstall all my apps again. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Downloaded the 10532 ISO, started an install, and it gave me the option to keep my apps and settings. It's at 29% now. We'll see how this goes.

EDIT 2: Finished updating, it's at 10532 now. Yay. Solved my own problem.

Hi,
I have a Packard Bell OneTwo S3221. It came factory installed with W7.

I upgraded to W10 last year after difficulty - upgrading to W10 via Windows update would not work, kept installing to a certain percentage then would reboot to a blank screen and freeze indefinitely, I needed to power off then on restart it would roll back to W7. This happened repeatedly despite trying all sorts - clean boots, uninstalling antivirus and updating drivers, etc.

I finally installed W10 using Media creation tool. Everything ran fine. But when the big update came in Novmember 2015 that failed to, in the same way as above, however all other monthly windows updates install fine.

Windows update never tried to push the Nov 2015 update on me again - I'm still on build 10240 now.

I was prompted to install the anniversary update by Windows update last week but that also failed in the same way as above. Download ok and begins installing fine, then at some point after 50% complete I get the blank screen indefinitely and have to power off, then it reverts back to W10 build 10240.

Having checked Packard Bell website my model is not supported by Packard Bell for W10, and they are not providing any drivers for it. This may explain the problems.

Can anyone suggest how to find out what the problem is and if there is a solution? I've tried looking in Update history for error codes, but there is none, it doesn't even show an attempt to install the anniversary update. Like i said every other ... Read more

Answer:Can't install Windows 10 Anniversary update, stuck on build 10240

Hi, simplest answer is avoid windows update and create the appropriate bootable medium or iso and use it as you did before.
As you know plenty of people have this sort of problem.

Note that the upgrade can introduce new issues for some (search the net), and some are delaying because of that. Older machines like yours could well exhibit such problems. So before you make this change, I recommend you create a disk image of your existing setup - a procedure you should do routinely anyway- to give another way of restoring your system.
E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + its boot medium + external storage for images.

It's best to have a physical bootable medium as it covers all of:
a. if you need to repeat the installation
b. as a bootable medium for recovery options
c. in case you need to do an in-place upgrade repair install

without taking up disk space.

I'm havinbg trouble with Windows update trying to download the latest build (10240) of Windows 10. It sits at 1% for hours and hours...in fact its been on 1% since July 15th, Anything I can do? I tried to do a Restore back to prior to the 15th, but it didn't make any difference

Answer:Windows Update stuck at 1% on download of latest build (10240, I believe)

You can try repairing your update components
1. Disconnect your internet and turn off your wifi
2. Reboot your pc and login
3. Right-click start, Command prompt (admin)
4. Copy and paste all these commands into the DOS window and press enter
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
5. Reconnect your internet and turn on your wifi
6. Reboot your pc and login

Hi, simplest answer is avoid windows update and create the appropriate bootable medium or iso and use it as you did before. That way you can try again without the download.
As you know plenty of people have this sort of problem. Make sure you have at least 450Mb of unallocated space on the drive.

You could try reading the Windows update log...

Hi. Installed build 14342.1003 on lumia 640xl. There are many annoying bugs.
Wifi connection issue: Wifi networks are not been searched. sometimes i have to soft reset device but many times soft reset also doesn't works.
Messages are not working. I cannot send or recieve messages until a hard reset which is very very painful. But even after hard reset issue occurs again any time.
Apps downloading issue: Going to apps even general apps like facebook freezes app store.
At initial setup after hard reset,if you chose sim 2 as cellular data the screen freezes and you have to restart device.
These are three main annoying issues i have encountered in less than 24 hours. Hope these are fixed soon.

Hello everyone,

For a few weeks I'm already stuck in Build 10166 of the Windows Insider program, Microsoft said that insiders would receive the launch version before public but I still haven't received an update to the final version yet. However non insiders already have the final version. I'm refreshing the Windows Update every half an hour and it only gives me Windows Defender updates every now and then.

How can I solve this?

Answer:Stuck on Build 10166 Windows Update not giving newer builds

I could be wrong, but I think, at this point, you'll want to download the final version. I've heard of people being able to upgrade over preview builds, but I can't confirm that.

Hello,
After updating to this insider build my start menu, cortana menu,WiFi menu and action center do not work, how can I fix these?

Also sfc /scannow does not work "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service." - FIXED with batch file

Settings menu will not open since the start menu wont, even the personalization menu from the desktop does not open.

Answer:Windows 10 build insider build 14295

Assuming you updated to 14295 through Windows Update ?
If yes, try to reinstall using the newly released 14295 ISO file.....
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...mkD9g%29%28%29

Download the iso file that corresponds to your Win 10 Insider Preview version ( i.e. language and bit-version )> save it to a folder.
Right click at the iso file > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
Installation will begin.
No product key is required.
Activation will be automatic.

Hopefully, reinstall will fix the problems.

I'm not sure if there is a fix for this or not. It may take a Microsoft fix to get it sorted.

I received the new build 14342.rs1_release.160506.1708 and immediately my Google Chrome crashed within about 20/30 seconds of loading. Although it was a little later I also noticed that Skype fails to load. It also crashes within 20 or seconds of loading. There may be others but I haven't noticed them yet.

I uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled it again but all was exactly the same. I downloaded Comodo Dragon and three other Chromium based browsers and all crash in exactly the same way; they appear to load perfectly and then stop working and need to be closed.

I have tried running them in 'compatibility' mode and with administrator privileges but nothing changes.

I ran SFC /ScanNow and it show up errors that it is unable to fix. I ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and although it appeared to work perefctly running SFC again shows that errors are still present and of course the main problem still remains.

I am just hoping against hope that someone has come up against this problem and solved it.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have not had any issues until today. Recently upgraded to Build 14342. Now in endless loop of BSOD, only get a minute or two after login before BSOD. A variety of reasons are given for the crashes. Tried rolling back to an earlier build but problem persists. Have attached the debug output as requested, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Attachment 82133

Bluescreen view pointed to a few different drivers responsible. I could find anything on one of them, iorate.sys.

Answer:Endless BSOD cycle in Build 14295 (and 14342)

You're missing a lot of files from the DM Log collecter zip file.
Please try running it again in Administrator Mode by right clicking on it and selecting Run as Administrator.

Code:
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for win32k.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for win32k.sys
Probably caused by : memory_corruption ( nt!MiCoalesceFreePages+460 )

Memory corruption is often caused by defective RAM. Download Memtest86+ (you want the 2nd one Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)). Unzip it then create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will do this easily.

DO NOT burn the .iso file directly to CD. It must be used as input to a program that knows what to do with it, like the one I mentioned above.

You can do this on any computer that has a working CD Burner.

You can also use a Flash drive instead of a CD.

Download - Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7) *NEW!*.
Unzip and run Memtest86+ USB Installer.exe.
It will format the flash drive if you tell it to. I used a small, 16MB flash drive and it had 8.5GB left when done.

Boot the CD or Flash drive and run Memtest86+ for at least 3 complete passes unless it shows errors sooner than that. An overnight run is even better.

Greetings all,

I have a DVD copy of the latest Insider Build (16288) thanks to 'f14tomcat'

I have the latest Creator's Build on both my laptop/desktop (15063.608). I am wondering if i can do an update using the DVD (within Windows, not booting from the DVD) without actually being part of the Insider's program?? If so, will this trigger my Windows install to automatically put me in the Insider's program (hoping not)

Since this build has no expiration i was hoping to run it on my desktop (taking image before doing of course) till the Fall Build is released & install that over 16288. Is this possible?? Can anyone point out any negatives to doing such??

I've read more positive remarks about this build so i'm willing to give it a shot as long as it is doable. I will hold off till i hear from the gurus.
TIA,

Ray

Hi everyone, I?m excited to share the news that we?re rolling out our next build update to the ?Fast? ring of the Windows Insider Program ? Build 9879! Once again this build has a ton of changes, some noteworthy new features, and a few gotchas to be aware of. It also has a number of things that YOU have influenced directly with your problem reports and suggestions. Thanks!

Getting started:

If you are new to the Windows Insider Program you may want to check out my post here from last month since this post is using some terms and concepts I first shared there. (e.g. our ?ring progression? model.)
Just like last time, this new build will come to you automatically via Windows Update, installed during your maintenance window if your PC is plugged in and on or sleeping.
If you don?t want to wait for it to download and install on its own ? you can go to PC Settings, Update and recovery, Preview builds and click the Check Now button to go get it now.
If you?re currently in the Fast ring, the build is available now. If you?re in the Slow ring, you won?t receive the build right away ? we?ll publish to Slow after we see how everything goes with the Fast ring.
This is a full build, and it will be installed as an in-place upgrade, so you?ll go through those colorful ?installing your apps? screens again. This is because your account is being re-provisioned after the upgrade.

I really hope someone can help me here. Before Windows 10 was officially released, I decided to join the Windows 10 Insider Program and upgrade my Windows 7 PC to a Windows 10 preview build. I bitterly regret doing this because I can't get the system to upgrade to the official release and now I'm getting messages that the build has expire and soon my PC won't work! I've downloaded the Windows 10 installer/upgrader but it always asks me for a key, which I don't have. The instructions on the Microsoft site say that you should not be asked for a key if you click the upgrade option, so what on earth am I doing wrong?!?!

Many thanks in advance
Bogester

Sup people! Happy New Year to those I haven't given it to. I'm having some serious problems trying to upgrade to the latest Insider build. I'm currently in 15002.1001 on the fast ring. I'm stuck downloading the updates @ 95%.

I have done the following:
Stopped the Windows Update Service and deleted the all the files inside the Downloads folder from the SoftwareDistribtuion (I needed to finish those steps in Safe Mode because it wouldn't delete them while "normal", even with taking ownership).Tried running "latestwe.diagcab" (Windows Update Troubleshooter) and it fixed the Database Corruption Store from the Windows Update.I have turned off Delivery Optimization (the one which shares Windows Update from local PCs and from the Internet).I've rank Disk Cleanup and CCleaner and cleaned everything up.Ran sfc -scannow and chkdsk -f and no problems were found.

I seriously do not know what else I can do, except for doing a manual update from Winaero's blog (Download Windows 10 Build 15007 ISO images - Winaero) or a clean install (Which I'd like to avoid).

Any other suggestions?

Answer:Windows 10 Insider 15007 stuck at 95%.

I found myself in the same situation, and ended up downloading the ISO file linked in Sergey Tkachenko's WinAero.com post entitled "Download Windows 10 Build 15007 ISO images." That was a painfully slow and long update (3.98 gb) from a server in New Zealand, but it worked like a charm for me when done. Couldn't get the update to download successfully any other way.
If you have problems with the download situation, post again here, and I'll see if I can share a copy via DropBox or something...
HTH,

Hi Guys!
Only a few days ago a Windows Insider Build had been pushed outside the walls of Redmond. This build is marked as 10525 and does not include that many features. As to say in fact that Windows 10 for Xbox One is coming really soon so prepare your selves for the update! If that anybody on the forum has an Xbox One then the update will apply to them. But for now enjoy the update as I think there will be another one very soon, plus that watermark has returned!

Answer:Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10525.

Despite this build doesn't include many new features, (actually the only additions are the improved memory manager and colored window title bars), it feels very rock solid, good for daily use.

I've created a 2nd Windows 10 Pro build from a Macrium image to receive Insider Preview Builds on a separate HD to my main operating system.

My Windows 10 Pro on SSD didn't use to require me to sign in as I've unchecked to 'tick box' below:

My 2nd HD has successfully upgraded to build 10532 but now when the PC boots up whether on SSD (Windows 10 Pro) or HD (Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview build 10532) it prompts me to say that the user name or password is incorrect, then asks for a password against 1 of 2 users.

Any ideas why this is happening as I've unchecked to opt out of accessing with a password.

Answer:Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Build 10532

I would suggest you click on the advanced tab and set up the automatic login of the user that you want to be logged in on startup.

Interesting build, it's got the most new features of any build to date in the Creators Update path and probably close to feature complete. The big thing that most around here will probably be the new options to delay updater and turn off driver updates. But only fa the Pro, Education and Enterprise versions do I'm sure that will receive a lot of complaints. However if one is on the Pro version, these options should take care of the majority of the complaints I've noticed. No turning off updates permanently, but a 35 day delay provides a good amount of time to address bad updates and get fixes out before the next 35 days.

As for the other big issue beyond updating, I've not seen anything on telemetry changes. Insider Builds don't allow any of that to be changed so there'd be little to see there if it did but no mention in the release notes anyway. The biggest thing I like, the Start Menu finally has the foldering system that Windows Phone 8.1 had years ago. I know there are the tile haters but you can put an LOT of tiles in a compact space now and they expand out when the group is clicked. No way to nest the folders though.

So nothing here that would probably change too many minds about 10 though the updating changes for Pro and above will probably make some happier.

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14352 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring.

What?s new in Build 14352

Cortana Improvements

Cortana, Your Personal DJ: In addition to playing songs via your local files and OneDrive, you also now have the ability to play any song from the entire Groove Music Catalog using Cortana. If you have a Groove Music Pass, just ask Cortana to play your favorite artist, genre, playlist or song. This also works with Cortana on your Lock screen.

Windows Ink

Updated Sticky Notes: With the latest update, Sticky Notes are now better than ever* with the ability to create Cortana reminders from your notes that will flow with you across your Cortana enabled devices.

Compass on the ruler: We?ve updated the Windows Ink ruler to include a compass. If the ruler is oriented in the direction of any of the cardinal points or midpoints, the compass indicator will become bold.

Other items of note

Windows Game bar improved with full-screen support: One of the most common requests we see for the Windows 10 Game DVR feature is the ability to use the Windows Game bar with more games running in full-screen.

Updated File Explorer icon: Based on Insider feedback, we have updated the File Explorer icon with more color.

Deploying Windows Enterprise edition gets easier: Prior to Windows 10, the upgrade from the Pro to Enterprise edition required a complete wipe and reinstallation of the OS. In Windows 10, we enabled bit-less edition upgrade fr... Read more

Here are some things we have fixed:

The issue where any audio playing (like music from Groove, or videos from the Movies & TV app) gets reduced by 75% for a period of time after a notification pops up from Action Center is fixed.
Pressing the power button on your Surface Pro 3 should put your Surface Pro 3 to sleep instead of shutting it down.
We fixed an issue reported by Windows Insiders where a disksnapshot.exe command prompt window would flash randomly.
Windows should now remember your previous login type. For example, if you log in with a PIN ? it will prompt you for a PIN next time instead of another type.
We fixed an issue where Tab previews in Microsoft Edge were appearing as black if the page was not scrolled to the top, and web note clippings were also appearing as black.
Small form-factor devices, like the Dell Venue 8 Pro, that boot with rotation or virtual mode screen size set larger than the physical screen size should no longer experience a bluescreen on upgrade.
Apps and games should download from the Store more reliably.

Hi everyone, we have a new build for PCs we?re releasing today to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring ? Build 10166. Just like the 3 builds we released last week, this build is all about bug fixing and fit-and-finish. Be sure to keep using the Windows Feedback app to send us feedback on any problems you?re hitting to help us make sure Windows 10 is awesome when we release it on July 29th!

We also have something for you to try out if you live in the Seattle area. With Windows 10, we are giving people the ability to purchase paid Wi-Fi through the Windows Store via the Microsoft Wi-Fi app. You will know when you can purchase Wi-Fi when you see ?Buy Wi-Fi from Windows Store? in your list of networks when clicking on the network icon on the lower right in the Taskbar. The Microsoft Wi-Fi app provides the choice to pay with a Credit or Debit Card, a Microsoft Gift Card, or PayPal and it helps keep your information secure since it uses the Windows Store payment system. Completing the purchase is simple as there is no need to enter additional personal or payment information if you?ve already registered in Windows Store. Right now, we?re testing this experience out in Seattle but it?ll soon open up to the rest of the U.S.

Hello guys. I will try to be direct. The notebook which i installed Windows 10 TP was running Windows 8.1 and i installed the HOME build 10130, over the 8.1 version. But i had some problems with Windows update and boot, so i did a clean install of Windows 10 preview build 10162, but in the PRO version(I thought it would be home version, but didn't happened). Ok, before that, i picked up the product key of the OEM version(8.1) and now, with build 10162, Windows its not activated. I used the key given by Microsoft, but it simply doesnt work. Appears a message that the activation server blocked the key. I just received the build 10240 by windows update, and i'm downloading now, but here's the question: To activate Windows properly, i have to install 8.1 again, put the key and install Windows 10 oficial? The OEM product key has a lifetime if not in use? I can do something different to activate it? I will be grateful if someone give me a good answer

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16291 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring only (not Skip Ahead).

What?s new in Build 16291
Resume from phones to PC with Cortana: Cortana users can now resume articles, news from their iPhones and Android phones to PC from within the Cortana app. This exciting feature comes in addition to the existing features where users can sync reminders, notifications and SMS across their devices and stay connected on the go!

General changes, improvements, and fixes for PC
We fixed an issue where sometimes after an upgrade Windows Update?s update history would be missing a listing for the feature update you?d just done.
We fixed an issue where scrolling with touch or precision touchpads wasn?t working with the F12 Developer Tools.
We fixed an issue where pin reset above lock (?I forgot my PIN?) would only work the first time the password was reset.
We fixed an issue where Microsoft Edge would crash if you added a Favorite to a Favorites folder and then immediately sorted that folder ... Read more

Hello Windows Insiders!

Today, we are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17040 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring and for those who opted in to Skip Ahead.

NOTE: The block for AMD PCs is no longer in effect as of this flight.

What?s new in Build 17040

Settings Improvements
Adjust the brightness of SDR content on your HDR display: Starting with Build 17040, Windows now lets you adjust how bright SDR content appears when running in HDR mode on the desktop. On an HDR capable system, you will see a slider in the ?HDR and advanced color settings? page under Settings > System > Display. This is one of the improvements to HDR image quality that we have planned based on feedback from Insiders.

New Cursor, pointer, and touch feedback section in Ease of Access Settings: Continuing our recent efforts to reorganize this section in Settings, you?ll notice that ?change cursor thickness?, ?Change pointer size and color?, and ?Change touch feedback? have been moved to this new place.

Touch keyboard Improvements
Shape-writing with wide touch keyboard: With the Fall Creators Update we introduced shape-writing input for one-handed keyboard. We?ve heard your feedback, and with today?s build we?re happy to announce that it?s now also available when using the wide keyboard!

As a reminder, shape-writing is currently available for the following languages: Catalan (Catalan), Croatian (Croatia), Czech (Czech), Danish (Denmark), Dutch (... Read more

Hi everyone,

We?re rolling out Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10549 right now to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring. However, this build comes with a caveat. We discovered a bug late last night that caused phones upgrading from Build 10536 to get stuck at a black screen after this new build is installed. Rather than making you wait a little bit longer for us to fix this bug ? we decided to release this build as a single update from Windows Phone 8.1. Current Insiders that would like to try out Build 10549 should:
Go back to Windows 8.1 first using the Windows Device Recovery Tool.
Once you?re on Windows Phone 8.1, install the Windows Insider app, choose the Fast ring, and reboot your phone.
After that ? this build should download and install on your phone.

Hi everyone,

Today we are rolling out Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10581 to Windows Insiders on the Fast ring. We?ve fixed the bug preventing upgrades from earlier builds. So if you stayed on Build 10536 or if you flashed back to Windows Phone 8.1 and then installed 10549 or 10572 you can upgrade directly to this new build without going back to 8.1 again. This build doesn?t have significant new features but does include a bunch of good fixes and general performance improvements.
