Windows 10 sometimes identifies non-touch laptop screen as touch?

Question: Windows 10 sometimes identifies non-touch laptop screen as touch?

Hi everyone,
I have a 1.5 year old Dell Latitude 3540 laptop, which I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (from 8.1 Pro). It has a non-touch screen.
For some reason, Windows 10 sometimes thinks it has a touch screen. It then shows the icon for the touch keyboard at the bottom right corner, and when going to Settings->System->About, under "Pen and Touch" it says "Touch support with 2 touch points".
This doesn't really bother me, as it doesn't seem to actually influence anything important. But still, seems pretty strange.
Did anyone else here experience something similar?
Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Windows 10 sometimes identifies non-touch laptop screen as touch?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I know that you can play games like XCOM and Master of Orion II on a touch screen laptop, though I was wondering: can I play something like XCOM, while still using touch to play the game?

Answer:Can a touch screen laptop play non-touch screen games...with touch?

I play World of Warcraft which was definitely not designed for touch screen and can interact with the interface just fine on my yoga.

As the title states, could I connect a laptop that has no touchscreen capabilities to a touchscreen monitor for the functions? The OS I am discussing by the way is Windows 8.1.
Thanks! :)

I want to buy this mouse to better work with my laptop.
Can somebody give me some feedback on how this glas pane works instead of a scrollwheel? Handling, etc.

Answer:Logitech Touch Mouse 400 for a Laptop with no touch screen

Sorry I can't answer your question, but this post piqued my interest. I use the Logitech 620 touch mouse on a Windows 7 box at work. I find a little touchy and has to tweaked. But I haven't tried the 620 on Windows 8. Because I'm always looking for the perfect mouse, I think I might just pick up the 400 tonight and let you know.

Yesterday I was on my laptop and before I shut it down it went into what looked like a different mode. I booted it up this morning and it is still in this mode. It looks like touch screen mode but I do not have a touch screen.  The icons on the task bar are spaced out and there is a back button on the task bar too which is not normally there. When i right click against the task bar, one of the buttons says "Show touch keyboard button".  All of my files are spead out as if to have room for touching if I had a touch screen but I do not. I am finding this very annoying because I cannot get onto my desktop properly and is not in the right mode. Please help!

Hi all, First of all, I know there were already 2 topics regarding this issue, but I have to create this topic because those 2 topics were marked 'Solved' and the solution there were not helping in my case at all. Symtoms:- In the beginning, it worked well even after upgraded to Windows 8.1, after some point, touch screen did not work anymore- There was a time that the touch did not work, I had to open the laptop 360 degrees, then put it back to normal so touch can work, but now it didn't fix the situation anymore- In 'Control Panel\System and Security\System', it shows that "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display"- In Device Manager, there is only 1 USB Input Device in Human Interface Devices (Hardware ID is USB\VID_2047&PID_0855)- There is no unidentified or conflicted devices What I have tried:- Install all Lenovo's drivers- Install old Intel Graphic driver- Reinstall windows 8.1- Reinstall windows 8- Disabled and enable all HID and USB devices- I lost the backup partition somehow so I cannot use OneKey Recovery Could anybody help me with this? I really appreciate all your help! I believe that there are many people had the same problem like me and have nowhere to turn to. Hope this can help them as well if it is solved!

I'm having the same issue with my Yoga 13.  It occured after upgrading to Windows 10.  The touchscreen worked fine for a few weeks and then one day I realized that it no longer worked.  I have run through a factory reset back to Windows 8 and then back through all the steps you've listed above and still with no success.  If this was ever solved I would really appreciate any input

I have an Ideapad P500 Touch  It came with windows 8 and I upgraded to 8.1 a couple months ago..( there were issues with that but I thought I fixed them at the time) Set up:At work, I attach a 22 inch screen and use that and the laptop screen at the same time. I also use an optical mouse connected to USB.Now, when I turn on my machine, I usually put the web on my 22 inch screen. While putting email and other Office programs on the laptop screen.Problems as follows: 1. When this happens there is a lot of flashing of the laptop screen and the bubbles pop up.. (I don't know what the bubbles are; I 'm assuming it the computer telling me it's thinking) This is very troublesome when trying to type. Sometimes it just instantly jumps on the first letter I type sometimes I can get a word typed in. ( Good Times..) Strangely I have not had one problem typing this out!!!? 2. My Mac Mini from 2006 finally died this year, so I need a new home computer. This will be my only computer, so a tablet won't cut it. I've decided to go back to Windows, mostly because of price.
Looking around I've found a Sony Vaio with a 14" touch screen, Core i7 processor, 8gb ram, and 1tb hard drive for $999 at Best Buy. They've also got an HP with similar specs but no touch screen on sale for Black Friday for $630. That's a significant difference.
So, for those of you who have used Windows 8 on a laptop, how important do you think the touch screen is? I don't want to skimp now just to regret not having one in a couple years (I keep computers a while, 5 plus years).

Answer:How important is a touch screen on a Windows 8 laptop?

I find it fine without a touch screen, only downside is a couple of the apps won't work without a touch screen. But then I'm not a power user by any stretch.

Try dragging it a little past the edge of the screen and release. It should work. 8 Isnt so much of a "snap" as it is a "drag and place it there" thing.

How to turn on Touch Screen?

Answer:Does Asus Laptop windows 8.1 have touch screen?

Without a better description / type number it is impossible to check the specifications to see if this Asus has a touch panel.
So check the box or see if there is something on the Asus which indicates it had a touch screen.

I just encountered this problem, it seems like an issue with the touch screen driver. When a monitor is connected via VGA and that monitor is made the primary display, whenever I touch the laptop screen, the click indication appears on the wrong monitor. Is there a driver update that fixes this? Who should be notified? What company made/supports the touch screen?

Answer:W510 touch registers on wrong monitor when touch screen not primary display

hey MRX,regarding this, really hard to say what could be the cause.curious to know, the external monitor which you are using, did it by any chance some with its own drivers ? also have you tried reversing and placing the external monitor as the primary ? does it make any difference?

I have ThinkPad X230 Tablet. It used to have non-functioning touch screen. I did something, and now the screen responds to pen input, but it doesn't work properly for finger touch. When I touch with finger, only thing it does is minimize or maximize window. When I change position of taskbar (with start menu and icons), it doesn't maximize/minimize.  I think this means that when I touch with finger, cursor clicks at bottom right corner of display, where there is button for maximize/minimize window

Hi, I have the Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch, new as of april 2014, and since last week, the touch screen has stopped responding to touch inputs. Before this it has been working and behaving perfectly. I have tried to turn the laptop entirely off and on, reboots... No effect. The screen simply acts like it never was touch. The HID driver is present and claims to be working. I tried to reinstall it and it does so with no errors or warnings. I also tried to reinstall the monitor and graphics card drivers. The Tablet control panel icon offers a calibrate option but Reset is disabled. The calibrate doesn't help because it doesn't respond to touch. System says it has touch with 10 finger inputs. Windows 8.1 Update 1, Enterprise SKU Any advice is welcome. UPDATE! Touch works when I lay the screen out flat. But if I return it to any angle, it stops working. Is this related to LayFlat mode or is there a connection fault in the display for touch input so only when I lay it flat it has contact? Software or hardware?

Received my ThinkPad Yoga today - i7 ? 8 Gb - 256 Gb SSD - Win 8.1 pro ? One major problem ? the touch screen stops responding to finger intermittently. It always responds to the stylus. Updated all the Lenovo drivers and did Windows updates. When it stops responding, the only way to get it to work is by doing a shut down ( restart does not work ). Read the forums and disabled and enabled HID-compliant vendor-defined device. That did not make any difference. Is this a common issue and is there a software fix for it or is it just a faulty screen?

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 20CDCTR1WW - Touch Screen not responding to touch - intermittent

Hi Waferthin,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Touch screen on ThinkPad Yoga.

To resolve the issue please follow the below troubleshooting steps.

Remove the Wacom touch gesture driver in the device manager and make sure to check "uninstall driver" when you do so otherwise the touch will stop working again a minute later.
And after that restart the system and the touch screen driver will automatically install.
In services.msc restart human interface device service to run automatically.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hi I bought a Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen Laptop in 2011 when I was in US. I returned to India in 2011. In 2014 the bottom touch screen virtual key board started mal-functioning. The keys will automatically click making it unable to use. I gave it to a local technician he disabled the bottom touch screen. He also said the Hard Drive is corrupted needs replacement. He replaced with a new 500GB hard drive. While replacing it he changed the Windows 7 home premium to Windows 7 ultimate. From then on we were using it with a wireless key board. Now I am trying to repair the laptop. 1) Where can get 14" bottom touch screen so that I can buy and install 2) Where can get the recovery disks along with windows 7 home premium Thanks in advance for your help

Answer:Acer ICONIA 6120 Dual Touch Screen - Bottom Touch ...

I suggest that you first try to recover the laptop to factory-fresh Win7 home premium by purchasing the Iconia 6120 recovery media. This may help resolve the bottom screen issue. If you aren't in the US, please click on support at the top of this page. Choose the country. Then click "get support". And then choose contact acer for tablets. You should then get phone numbers or email addresses for Acer representatives who might help arrange for you to get this media.  Jack E/NJ

My Ideapad P400 Touch with Windows 8 is no longer responding to right side swipe (charms bar gesture).  All other touch screen functions and gestures still work normally, including the left side swipe to switch apps.  The screen still displays the 'touch feedback' dots when I attempt the gesture but no charms bar appears! I've tried recalibrating as well as removing calibration of touch screen, and tried various other troubleshooting procedures I found on this site, like uninstalling recent updates, etc... Finally I tried running Windows 8 PC refresh, which worked as it's supposed to so I got to reinstall all my software but didn't fix the missing charms bar! Has anyone had a similar problem with the touch screen right-side swipe and been able to fix it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!   Thanks!cait

Drivers all show working properly. Not intermittent. Tried settings and no help. No response when touching screen at all. Can't calibrate. Bios has no update available. Nothing in manual under troubleshooting. Any quick fix suggestions have likely been tried, but open to all ideas. If all else fails, and assuming the digitizer is bad, what does repair entail and any rough estimate? Is there any recall? I see this issue on the forum a lot with not many folks getting it resolved.TIA!!

Answer:U310 IdeaPad Touch :The Touch Screen Stopped Working. No Previous Posts Have Helped.

hi c2nah777,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Have you tried booting the system in Recovery Mode (One Key Recovery), You're not going to Recover the system since your only going to check the touchscreen in that mode "Outside Windows"

See if the touhcscreen works there,
If Yes, I would suggest doing a factory Reset First Before jumping into a hardware Repair.
If No, Then I think you're correct with the digitizer.

I have the IdeaPad S510p touch, which seems to have a similar problem as other Lenovo models where the touch screen seems to stop working intermittently.  It seems to stop working after a while or after it has been sleeping.  It starts working again randomly.  I tried downloading a driver for a different model, but it didn't load or allow me to open it.  I just got this computer a few days ago.  I'm not sure if it is better just to take it back to the store, but I am concerned that this problem will exist even if I exchange it for a new one...

In the middle of using an app and using the touch screen. I searched all through settings and can't find anywhere to adjust its settings or anything. And in fact I saw that this computer "Has no touch/pen screen", which it does. Or it did until about an hour ago. I am relatively clueless but i'm learning. And would like some instruction/options. ThanksJohnpal716

Hello, this is my situationI have bought my Lenovo Z400 Touch 59366600 in June last year, and it came with a non-functional webcam. In September last year, the touchscreen started exhibiting the spurious touch input fault on the left edge, rendering the computer unusable until the touchscreen is disabled in Windows. At some point after this, I have disassembled the computer.I have since moved to Austria, and I wish to solve my laptop's problems and am willing to pay a fee for the service. How can I do so? In addition, I have already bought a new SSD and more RAM to upgrade my computer, and am planning on installing Windows onto the SSD, however the Windows installer will detect the touchscreen and it will be impossible to click any buttons on screen.

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

I've lost the use of my keyboard, but not the touch pad. Restarting and converting to table mode and back doesn't correct the issue. Thoughts? I'm not sur where to go from here. Could the keyboard be physically dead?

Answer:Yoga 2 Keyboard not working, but touch pad and touch screen fine

You should test the keyboard in the BIOS menu and see whether it works. 1) Press on the recovery button (next to the power button, you may need a small screwdriver). https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/11617761143/in/set-721576390073780542) Then there is an option menu for entering recovery, bios, etc. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14512183979/in/set-72157639007378054Use your keyboard and see whether it works in that option menu. If it doesn't work then it is a faulty keyboard.

For the past several weeks I've experienced a very annoying problem with my ThinkPad.  Whenever the laptop goes to sleep and resumes the touch screen goes... crazy. It starts registering multiple inputs across the touchscreen and the only thing that seems to resolve the issue is a restart. Sometimes, upon restart, the touch screen works normally, other times it does not work at all.  Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've seen this issue described for other Lenovo models with fixes, but none for my model.  Under the hardware ID in device manager, this monitor is a LEN 40A4.  I'm running Windows 10.  This is my third Thinkpad X1 Carbon, not because I love to upgrade, but because these machines seem to only last one year before something major breaks.

So I have a small 10" touch screen as a secondary screen and it is recognized and installed when I plug it in the computer. My problem is that the actual touching is severly misplaced and I can notuse the calibration tool (Tablet PC Settings in control panel) to correct this problem. It is as if the vertical and horisontal inputs of the screen has been swapped. If I touch the right side on the screen and drag my finger to the left I can see the cursor go from the top to the bottom and if I touch the top and drag down the cursor goes from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen.Installing the drivers from the manufacturer of the touch controller, http://www.eeti.com, did not help at all. It just says there are no touch controllers connected to my computer. Is there a way I can correct this problem?

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

The trackpad (from how it seems) causes Windows to switch to touch mode on the W541. What triggers touch mode?- Using the trackpad;- Unlocking the laptop. So why care if the W541 does not have any touch capabilities anyway?- Apps switch to touch mode which enlarges elements and makes work inefficient;- Websites switch to touch mode which makes certain web elements unusable;- The notifications button is moved off the screen for a while (see attachment);- The famous touch keyboard button shows up in the taskbar. What we have tried so far:- Updating all drivers provided by Lenovo;- Disabling tablet mode from Settings ? Tablet mode;- Disabling the Synaptics Pointing Device from Device Manager;- Disabling Human Interface Devices (even though nothing with ?touch? is listed here) from Device Manager;- Disabling all trackpad features from Synaptics. The way to work from the W541 is to use a mouse without ever touching the trackpad and to never lock the laptop which is ridiculous. Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise (issue also confirmed on Windows 8)

Not only are "pen and touch" no longer in my control panel, HID-compliant touch screen is not in my device manager.  Needless to say, my touch screen is non-responsive.
I have a Compaq Elite 8300.
I had problems before but everything was working 24 hours ago and I didn't make any changes since then.

My Yoga 2 11.6 is registering a permanent touch in two locations:  http://imgur.com/pPqRUhEI've had to disable the touchscreen in device manager just to make the computer usable for normal use.  I just got this thing for Christmas, so it isn't old.   Is returning it to Lenovo for weeks my only option?  =(

Answer:Yoga 2 11.6 touch screen registering permanent touch

I am having a similar problem with mine. Touch spots will show up at random and display becomes unstable, bouncing around or resizing. Restarting will clear it up. It seems to have lessened but sometimes when I rotate the screen it will still happen.

Answer:Lenovo S210 Touch broken LCD and Touch screen

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

The laptop has vertical lines of dead pixels running across the screen and I want to get the LCD replaced. Now the non touch screen model of this laptop has a Full HD variant (1920x1080) as opposed to the standard 1366x768 WXGA HD display while the touch models only come with the WXGA HD LCDs. Can I replace the LCD of my touch screen model with the FHD one? I have been able to detach the digitiser from the LCD itself and have the hinges and screws so I would assume it would be a simple case of changing one LCD with the other. The replacement touch screen models all come with the digitizer and hinges attached which is not something I require so it would be easier (and cheaper!) if I only got the LCD replaced. Lastly, if this is possible, do I need to purchase any additional cables? If so, which one? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Replacing Dell 15R 5537 Touch screen LCD with FHD non touch LCD

You're going to need at least the FHD wiring harness:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
the screen
www.parts-people.com/index.php
and the bezel
www.ebay.com/.../302211389965
You may or may not be able to re-use the back cover/hinge assembly - usually these are different between non-touch and touch versions.

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. I have been researching this for hours and have not found and answer. Help please!

I have a Lenovo s400 and the Touch screen is not functioning.  The details highlighted in the blog also describe exactly what happened to my computer - I updated to Windows 8.1, it worked intermittantly for a week and would cease to work after the computer slept for a brief time, then there were ghost taps in the top corners that were inceasant, then it no longer functioned at all.  The online support staff attempted all of the software updates to no avail.  I am looking for any type of help to resolve this problem.

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

Answer:Yoga touch screen generates random touch while lid...

I am experiencing the very same thing.A driver/BIOS update would be very much appreciated, dear Lenovo.

Has anyone noticed that every once in a while, a Yoga screen becomes unresponsive to touch?  I use mine mostly in tablet mode, and sometimes out of the blue, I can no longer do anything with the screen.  I have to use the power button to put the laptop to sleep, and then press it again to wake--everything works again after that.  So I'm wondering why that happens.  Is it a touchscreen driver crashing?  Has anyone found whether there's some driver version that works better or else another solution?  P.S.: Im using all the latest drivers I could find, including the latest Intel display driver.  No other issues at all other than this one.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro: touch screen stops responding to touch sometimes

I have not had this issue, but is it possible that it has something to do with transitioning in and out of tablet mode?   In my normal usage I have to fold the screen about halfway closed to set my T2P down which puts the device in tablet mode.  Occasionally, when I open it back up the keyboard and touchpad do not respond.  If I close it most of the way then reopen, it snaps back to laptop mode and all is OK.  Your issue may be completely unrelated, but I am offering it in case it jogs some other thoughts.

Does anyone know the following about the 2015 X1 Carbon 2560 x 1440 screen? Does the touchscreen still have the same hazy film that prior generations had?  We have a couple of the older ones at the office and that hazy film makes it very fatiguing to read text.  Does the non-touch have the film?  Is the non-touch clearer and easier to read text on? Are the screens matte or gloss? I know lenovo doesn't recommend removing the film but it appears many people have removed it.  Is there any detriment to removing the film? Thanks in advance.

Answer:X1 Carbon 2015 (Gen 3) touch vs non-touch screen clarity

I have a 2015 X1 Carbon with the 2560x1440. I don't notice any hazy film over the screen (but I have heard that Lenovo coats it with something). It's a glossy screen but probably a bit less glossy than some others I've used. That said, the screen is fairly dim (I think max 270 nits) and I need to leave the brightness nearly all the way up which eats away at battery life. But at that setting, it's terrific for me.

I've just reinstalled Windows 10 on this laptop and the touchscreen no longer works or is recognized. The device manager does not even list a touch-device under human interface devices, and the settings app reports that Pen & Touch is unavailable. I manually installed the intel chipset and display drivers from the support pages, but it has not made any differences. Does anyone have some insight as to why this might be happening?

I have a hp pavilion touchsmart 15-n029so. Unfortunately my touch screen is defect, so 5-6 points on the screen is constant active. Until recently I managed to disable the driver for only the touch driver (not the screen) through device manager, but then a lately update for windows 10 activated the driver again. So now the 5-6 points is constant active, and I cannot login because the screen will not focus on the login field.  This means I cannot login to windows 10. I have also tried to start safe mode (turning off computer repeatly, so it starts up in safe mode), but here the touch screen driver is also active.  How can I disable the touch screen driver without login into windows 10?

In a Microsoft Store recently, I looked at the beautiful 4k screen of the Y50. The thing that really surprised me was that it was also a TOUCH screen. The one I saw at Fry's was not Touch.  In fact, the person said Lenovo was not putting touch on the 4k screens.  No where does Lenovo claim that any Y50 would be touch:  1) The official Y50 - UHD high level web page does NOT have the little blue  hand with the index finger and circle near it. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/ 2)  The words next to the Y50 models do not contain "touch".  Right? http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50-uhd/ Is this just a special model for the Microsoft Store?  Here is another person referring to a deal at the Microsoft Store where the UHD model is touch.http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1385646/  Do all Y50 UHD's have TOUCH?

Dear fellow users of Lumia 920, I have been facing a rather annoying issue over the last one month with my phone. When I am surfing web, the moment my finger touches the page (regardless of a link or static content) the screen seems to randomly shift on its own to my right. I need to press the screen harder to keep it from not moving. The issue is doubly annoying because - one, it shifts and two, it doesnt let me select the link i wish to open in a separate tab. I have not noticed this phenomenon on any other app besides IE till now - however it may not mean it's just IE specific. Any suggestions please?

Hello Everybody,
I have a Latitude E7440 non touch screen version that needs a complete new display assembly due damage. I was wondering if it is possible to fit a complete touch screen assembly as a replacement? I noticed that the back shell of the touch assembly is slightly different and I guess the whole structure is heavier than the non-touch version.
Many thanks,

It is possible - but everything north of the base/keyboard needs to be replaced -- upper structure, bezel, screen, cables, antenna wires and hinges.

Hi, I've recently formatted my Laptop HP Envy m7-n101dx (touch) and installed Win7  Ultimate (64 bit).  I have downloaded all drivers available on HP website and installed on my laptop.  There is only one unknown device left (acpi\msft010), and I'm unable to to find the correct driver.  My problem is I'm unable to use the touch screen of the laptop, I've googling and found that is there must be a problem with with the Human Interface Device, but when I've checked the Device Manager no Human Interface Device is on the list.  Please could anyone help me out.  Thanks in advance

Answer:Touch Screen of HP Envy m7-n101dx (touch)

Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10?  How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7?  You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed.  You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results.  It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

Im using the z400 touch notebook but I think I the driver for the touch capabilites were accidentally removed. where can I download the driver?

Answer:Z400 touch touch screen problem

hi alton1995,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Touch driver is native to windows and there is no download for these models.

First can you check if the touch hardware is detected by winodws
Open system properties and see if touch function is detected.

If Yes,
Open Device Manager (Click on View and show hidden devices)  and oped Human interface devices.
Uninstall Everything that starts with HID- hit restart Later if it ask for restart if you were done uninstalling everything yet.
Once all that starts with HID- is uninstalled restart your computer and see if it will work.

Regards
Solid Cruver

Anybody have any idea how to get the touch function to work? I have the multitouch/multiview screen (brand new as of yesterday) Thinkpad X61 tablet & can't figure out for the life of me how to get the touch function to work. The stylus pen works fine but I would have bought the superview screen if I knew the touch function on this was this hard to use. I can't find a touch panel settings utility to adjust settings referred to in the manual - anybody have any idea where it might be hiding?

Answer:Mutli-touch screen touch function ?

Never mind about this question. I'm very embarassed to say I just realized I have the SXGA screen, not the MT-MV screen after all. (No, I am not blonde)Message Edited by Leilani on 05-05-2008 09:16 AM edit: In my defense the model I purchased online at the Lenovo Outlet clearly says it was multi-touch-multiview on the specs I downloaded of the particular pre-built machine I selected & put into my cart. The nearly-indecipherable packing list which came with the tablet which was actually shipped to me seems to indicate indicates it is a Superview ("SXGATFT"). YIKES! I guess now I need to investigate what other specs vary.Message Edited by Leilani on 05-05-2008 09:41 AM

Hello All - I just noticed that my multi-touch (not enhanced multi-touch) screen no longer responds to finger touch; just pen. It used to respond to both before i upgraded to Windows 7.I tried the Lenovo diagnostic check for the touch screen, and during the test, it only responded to the pen. What should I do? Is there a certain driver i'm missing or need to uninstall and then re-install?Thanks in advance.

Answer:Post Windows 7 Upgrade - Touch Panel Not Responding to Finger Touch (x200t)

Ok...I think i really screwed something up. As per a Lenovo support tech's advice, i installed the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Multi-touch Driver, even though i do not have the enhanced multi-touch screen, and this is what it says on Lenovo's site about this new driver: "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the Multitouch are NOT supported." "*1: ThinkPad X200 Tablet models with the ENHANCED Multitouch ARE supported." So, i go ahead and install it. I notice that finger touch now works, but the pen setting are now all screwed up! The eraser no longer responds when i turn the pen around to erase. It actually INKS with the eraser as well! OneNote no longer automatically starts inking (or erasing) when i bring the pen (or eraser) into range. I have to manually click on the pen icon (or the eraser icon) on the tool bar to use these functionalities! *groan* In the Tablet PC Input Panel: no eraser functionality (it inks instead!!) and even the button on the pen (which previously had the right-click ability) only inks when pressed down! I think i made my situation worse...Please Help! Adam

The trackpad causes Windows to switch to touch mode on the W541. What triggers touch mode?- Using the trackpad;- Unlocking the laptop. Why care since the W541 does not have any actual touch capabilities anyway?- Apps switch to touch mode which enlarges elements and makes work inefficient;- Websites switch to touch mode which makes certain web elements unusable;- The notifications button is moved off the screen (see attachment);- The famous touch keyboard button appears in the taskbar. What have we tried so far?- Updated all drivers provided by Lenovo;- Disabled tablet mode from Settings ? Tablet mode;- Disabled the Synaptics Pointing Device from Device Manager;- Disabled Human Interface Devices (even though nothing with ?touch? is listed here) from Device Manager;- Disabled all trackpad features from Synaptics control panel;- Disabled TabletInputService. The way to work from the W541 is to use a mouse without ever touching the trackpad and to never lock the laptop which is ridiculous. Windows 10 Enterprise (issue also confirmed on Windows 8)

Im having a difficult time deciding whether to get the touchscreen display or the normal display for my x1 3rd gen carbon notebook. Can someone tell me about the pros and cons and your overall experiences with the different displays. Thanks

Answer:X1 carbon 3rd gen, buy touch screen or no touch?

It is a matter of personal preference. I prefer the touch on windows 10 or 8.1. I prefer no-touch on windows 7. Even with a touchscreen. I still use the mouse more often than touch.

So I have got a Lenovo Y50-70 with 15.6" 3840x2160 UHD Touch Display for about two years now. I've accidentaly dropped my backpack, while the laptop was in it and cracked it's screen so I need to replace it. The screen in the cracked part is working as it was working before the accident, the crack is on the glass. So I was wondering if I can replace my 15.6" 3840x2160 UHD Touch Display with a 15.6" 1920x1080 FHD Non-touch Display? Is it possible?I've read that whether screen you are changing, its working depends on the quantity of pins on the Video signal connector.

Processor Count: 4
RAM: 3534 Mb
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 8400, 512 Mb
Hard Drives: C: 453 GB (151 GB Free);
Motherboard: TOSHIBA, Portable PC
Antivirus: Windows Defender, Disabled

First of all I was running Windows 8 everything was fine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 everything was good at first. Months after doing so my touch screen started acting up. It would only work when I position the screen a certain way. So I stopped messing with it because I thought it was a wiring problem inside the computer. I would fix it later, And then sadly I upgraded to Windows 10. I noticed shortly after there was no touch screen options at all. It says there is no Pen and Touch. Today it was listed in the control panel so I started messing with it. Drivers were there all up to date. They said the Device did not migrate. It was 2 or 3 drivers listed for the touch screen and they all said the same thing. After a restart they were no longer in the device manager and no options in the control panel anymore. Please help me figure this out... Thank you.

Answer:Touch screen/Pen and Touch not working

What's the model name and complete model number of that Toshiba?
(2 sets of characters separated by a dash comprise the complete model number)

If that Toshiba wasn't tested for and doesn't provide driver support for Windows 10, you can expect some of its devices not to work properly or not work at all.
That tends to be more of a problem with laptops than it does with desktops.

So today i woke up to find my laptop has a lovely greeny-bluish vertical line through the screen. It comes and it goes when i move the screen so its probably something that can be repaired, right? (Thats question 1 over with).

I have always wanted a touch screen laptop but unfortunately the price was out of my league when looking for a laptop. Now i have a 15.4inch laptop which is fine (apart from the screen problem above^) and i was wondering if i could purchase a new screen which has touch screen capabilities. I really don't know where to look for answer so i thought i'd ask here.

Question One: Could be a prob with the pixels, or the cords are playing up :S

Question Two: You could either get a new laptop with the touch screen, or you could get another screen and plug it into the vga port.

Hi timishi, welcome to the Seven Forums.

You can connect a touchscreen display to your laptops external monitor port (VGA) and use it normally. Your laptops display is not a touchscreen.

Hi there
I see more and more laptops are being sold now with Touch enabled screens -- Now using a laptop in the Classical position I.e with the screen at RIGHT ANGLES (Vertically) to the desk what possible use is touch.

Now if it has a detachable screen or can work in Tablet mode (as a convertible) that's fine but as a standard laptop -- what would you USE the touch facility for even if you were running Windows 8.

Touch is fine on accessory devices such as drawing devices which you would have placed HORIZONTALLY on your desk or if you were using "Electronic Drawing table" type devices - but on a bog standard laptop screen. But on a standard Laptop. ?? - Maybe on a Train / Plane if you were using the computer as an e-book reader - but if you just wanted to read would you be using a computer anyway -- e-readers are ridiculously cheap now.

All it does is just push up the price of the laptop for NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER.

Am curious - anybody here got a laptop with Touch - and what are they actually using touch for.

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:What use is TOUCH on a laptop screen

I totally agree with you jimbo. I bought a new laptop a few weeks ago and specifically looked for one that did NOT have a touchscreen. I tried out the touchscreen models in the stores and decided touch is not a good interface for larger screens. Works great on my phone and tablet but requires too many exaggerated arm movements on the larger screen. Constantly moving between touching the screen and going back to the keyboard was a pain as well.

The screen of my laptop is cracked and the touch screen feature is jammed. I can not type in my laptop password and so I can not deactivate the touch screen feature. The cursor keeps on going around the screen.  Is there a way to deactivate the touch screen feature without logging in? Can I deactivate the touch screen with just the hard ware or the keyboard short cuts?  I was able to use the laptop before even with the cracked screen as I was able to deactivate the touch screen feature. But when I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10, the touch screen feature went back again. How do I deactivate it again?

Answer:How to deactivate touch screen of a laptop?

You can delete the device out of device manager to disable it.
