I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: i use google mail and received an email with word doc attachment how do i download document

It usually starts with a click or a tap, depending on the device. And that sounds too simple. I feel there is some problem we are not being made aware of. I'm sure you are trying to express some sort of attempted the basics and failed concept
More details, please.
What happens when you try to download? Any error messages or popups with advice? What message is received?
What device? OS and version? How are you accessing the Gmail? Browser? Which browser, at what version? App? What App?
Is this a new problem? What might have changed recently that could affect this?

I have recently received from two different
sources email with attached MSWORD
created documents. In both cases I
I was unable to resolve the documents.
I have MS Works 2000 V5.0 installed running
under Windows 98. I get a error message when i
try to open the document that says "unable
to open due to document is already in use, or
document is corrupted or do not have the proper
converter". Why would I need a converter when
I have MS Word installed?

Answer:MS Word document received on e-mail

That's a good question.

Were you expecting these Word documents?

If not, it's inadvisable to, as many viruses come as attachments with hidden extensions like *.doc.scr, or something like that.

I opened a word 2010 document from an email in windows live mail desktop version and made some lengthy changes. Now I cannot find the document on my windows 7 system anywhere.

Please help

Peter

Answer:I cannot find a word document I opened as an email attachment

The file will be located in a folder somewhere in
C:\Users\(youraccount)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files\

"\AppData" is normally hidden
"\Temporary Internet Files" is normally a hidden protected Operating System
file

You'll have to remove the checkmark (if they're hidden) in Windows Explorer:
Organize - Folder & Search Options - View

Good luck in finding it, though.

The correct way is to save the attachment first, then open it
from the saved location, if you wish to edit it.

I tried to make a word document an attachment to an e-mail. I clicked on "Send as a mail attachment" under "File" but a screen came on my computer monitor stating that the "Operation failed." I clicked on "Help" to obtain some information. According to Microsoft, this is a MAPI related error. I was advised to restart the MAPI e-mail program (Outlook) or save and close the document, then restart Word after restarting the MAPI e-mail application. The instructions said that Word will establish a new MAPI session, allowing the document to be sent. I interpreted restart to mean reboot, but the instructions did not work. I use Office 2003 Professional and Windows XP. I would also like to know how to send multiple Word documents as attachments to the same e-mail. I need help really quickly. Hope someone can help.

Answer:Getting MAPI errors when trying to make a Word document an attachment to an e-mail

Hi Carol

If you haven't solved your attachment question yet:

Assuming that the version of Word that created the documents and the version of Outlook that you are using for the email are both part of Office 2003, you should be OK attaching the documents by using the "Insert" icon (looks like a paper-clip) from within Outlook, then browse to their location and click "Insert" (it is a poor choice of grammar on MS Outlook 2003's part, as the action does not really insert the document, but attaches it).

The documents must be saved first in order to be attached. MS Word does not need to be open for the attachment function to work. I prefer for Word to be closed, in fact, to avoid any possibility of the file being "in use", which might cause Outlook a bit of trouble getting to it. Theoretically, so long as the document is already saved, it should be attachable (whether Word is open or not).

Best of luck
. . . Gary

I filled out a form on my computer that I received as an attachment in my gmail account.  I want to email the completed form back to the email address of the person who emailed it to me.  I downloaded the form onto my pc.  I've tried to copy/paste the completed form into the reply box but have not been able to.  I also went under "File" and selected "Send To" and then "Mail Recipient", but when I click "Mail Recipient" I don't get any kind of message saying that the computer sent anything or not.  I use XP Home o/s and Firefox browser.  Thanks for any replies.

How safe to open these .exe files??

I emailed some Excel 2000 .xls files from my work computer to my home computer. I'm wary about opening them because 6 out of 7 of them have arrived at home as .exe files.

Many, but not all, of these files have lots of vlookups or possible filtering. Would vlookups or filtering cause the file to change to an .exe file? ie Is it probable they are safe to open?

A quick response would be much appreciated, since I'm hoping to do lots of work at home tonight!

Answer:Excel .xls email attachment received as .exe file.Safe?

I don't like the sounds of it. Are you using Winzip--possibly turning them into self-extracting zip files?

Try going to www.freedrive.com or www.driveway.com and sign up for some free web space. Upload your files, then download them when you get home. At least until you find out why it's doing that!

We've developed an email issue with Microsoft Word documents being sent as attachments through Outlook. It seems that starting on November 21, we've been unable to send any email containing MS Word documents. It seems that the messages being sent "stick" in the outbox, and prevent any further sending of mail.

The error that comes up is 0x800CCC69. This has been witnessed on both Windows 2000 and XP Home. From what has been witnessed, the problem is confined to Outlook. Sending mail through Thunderbird with Word attachments works just fine.

An attachment to an incoming email (from a known source) has a file extension ._wps and I can't open it. I've tried the converter download from microsoft, but it tells me it doesn't recognize "._wps" I can't find the wps extension with an underslash in a google search...? Does anyone know how I can open this file?

Answer:email document attachment ._wps

Easiest way, tell the sender to save the file, whatever they wanted to send you, as a rtf (rich text format) and resend.

When I receive an odt document and try to open it, I get a blank page. I am using Libre Office and my friend is using Open Office for her program. Word Pad opened it but it was way off center to the left.

Answer:I can't open odt document from an email attachment

I assume it is the same if you Save the odt file into Windows then open it from there. If none of it is missing in WordPad maybe you could copy paste the text into a new Libra Office document.Seems odd that there is a Libra -v- Open Office compatibility because they were both grown from the same source.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Answer:How do I create a Word 2013 attachment document that can be opened using my iPhone3s?

I would just save it as a .doc or .docx and open it using Documents to Go, Quickoffice or other office suite if you have access to it.
Or maybe .pdf if you have the option and don't care about editing.

Completely baffled. I've sync'd Windows mail with my Gmail account, everything back and forth is fine. Trying to send email w/attachments from Word 2003 results in nothing-no error, no nothing. I have the 'mail' icon on Word 2003 set, I can access the 'send to mail recipient' on 'file' so that I can enter email addresses to send the attached file to whomever-but when I click Send...nothing. I am absolutely at my wits end, and I can't self diagnose this to fix it. Again, my Gmail and Windows Mail are sync'd fine-can send msgs back and forth. About to blow a gasket on this, have depositions to send and can't! thanks so much

PLEASE HELP.

I am using Windows Live Mail to send and receive emails.

Some people do not receive my email. I had noticed that it seemed to be mail sent to hotmail, but it seems that it is more general than that!
I do not know what to do.

One odd thing is, that they will receive it if I forward it to my blackberry and then send it off there!

ARE THERE ANY SETTINGS THAT I NEED TO CHANGE???

I AM SO FRUSTRATED AS THESE EMAILS AND REPLIES ARE IMPORTANT!!! AND I DO NOT FEEL IT IS PROFESSIONAL TO KEEP CONTACTING PEOPLE TO ASK IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED MY EMAIL!

SO PLEASE HELP!

THANK YOU!

Tried once before with this question but did not get a resolving answer.
On receipt of an MS Word document via e-mail as an attachement I am unable to open the document. I have MS Works installed (Works 2000 ver 5, Windows 98).
Is it because of different versions of MS Word or how the sender sent the document?
This has occured with two different documents sent from different people.

Before we can provide you any assistance, you need to go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/default.mspx and install "Service Pack 1" This will patch numerous security holes in IE and Windows. Many baddies get on your machine by taking advantage of these vulnerabilities. As your machine stands now it is wide open to attack from all sorts of nasties. You need to get these updates before we proceed or we will be wasting our time.

DO NOT install Service pack 2 yet. If you install SP2 on an infected machine, it will cause serious problems. Just get Service Pack 1 installed then come back here and post a new Hijack This log.

Hi,

I am developing an add-in for outlook that consists of creating a customized send button next to the standard one. when outlook is configured to use the word editor, when I add the customized send button to the command bar of the mail in edit mode, the add-in is also added in word document. The reason is that the word editor is activated in outlook. How can I tell my add-in not to add the button in word as well. I don't want to deactivate the editor word. There must be a way how to detect the opened application. I searched for my problem on the internet and people said to test if the kind of the document is word mail or word document. Here's part of my code that didn't work correctly:

//event triggered when item is opened

private void Inspectors_NewInspector(Outlook.Inspector i)

{

//some code to test if it is a maiitem, etc.

Word.Document document = (Word.Document)i.WordEditor;

if (document.Kind.ToString() == "wdDocumentEmail")

addsendbutton();

}

The problem is that the button is still showing at word level. Visual studio is not launching the condition on all the windows. So he?s adding it in word as well, although word document is a wdDocumentLetter.

I have 2 options in mind:

1- The code must not be called at new inspector level. Because this trigger is not launched in the case of the word document

2- The inspector from which we get the word editor is not the right one for word document (Word.Document ... Read more

Which E-Mail program? Do you have an option to save an attachment? Does the Copy allow you to select a location where you can Paste it? Or is it just copying the image for the paste into a program such as Paint [Start, All Apps, W, Windows Accessories] which then would allow saving.

Can you folks help me ? I am trying to set up Mail (as attachment) in Word 2000 using OE6. I have clicked the options box and tried adding to the toolbar - but nothing happens !! Am I missing something ? Thanks

Answer:Mail As Attachment using Word 2000 and OE6

There's no setting up to do that I'm aware of. You write your mail using Word, then choose File - Send-To - Mail Recipient (as attachment) - and it attaches the document you've written to an email message.Or, you write your message in Word - save it, then open up OE6 and choose attach then browse to what you've written. I do it this way routinely - no set-ups required.

You have now most likely been infected with a virus. Scan your system now. MS never sends out emails to you. It is most certainly a virus email which you have allowed in by opening the attachment. Scan now and get rid of it.

I stupidly forwarded some sort of Word generated chainmail to my mother (she's very pissed at me right now). One of those that asks what's your favourite number, now scroll down..don't peek ahead kind. She has Windows XP and uses Word for her home business. Her email saved the attachment somewhere she can't find..possibly in a settings file. She lives on a different island then I, so until this weekend I can't look at it myself.

I can't see her saving the attachment, she's very wary of this type of mail. Most attachments are quarantined by her computer...could this be the problem?

Everytime she opens Word to create an invoice, this damn attachment takes over. Swears she can't delete it...I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Answer:win 10 word 2010 email as attachment

I run into that problem with a few of my clients and the only solution for them was to get Microsoft Outlook so as to properly interface with Word and Excel. It's mostly the difference between using Webmail/Online E-Mail versus an installed E-Mail Client/Program. If a client doesn't want to buy Outlook or upgrade their version of Office to one that includes Outlook I advise to Save the document in the Documents/My Documents Folder, open their Browser to their Webmail page, create the message then Attach the file they created and Send.

Someone has sent me a very large attachment. After about an hour it has got ½ way through downloading and then it cuts off and stops downloading. The internet connection is not cut off. This is very frustrating as it is blocking up other emails behind it. I'm not too worried about not getting the large attachment (it's about 13MB) but I need to get the other emails that are backed up behind it. How can I get rid of it?

Answer:Email with large attachment won't download

Are you using dial up? Ummm, I don't recommend sending such a large file via email with dsl and even less with dial up. If you have a messenger, your friend can send you a file like that thru a file transfer in a messenger. For right now, does your email come thru Outlook or OE? If it does, close that and try to log on to your mail from a browser, most ISPs have a way to check your mail away from home, like I can look at my sbcglobal mail thru a browser. If you can get in to your mail from a browser delete that large email thru there. As thru the browser mail, it shouldn't try to download the attachment unless you ask it to, there by leaving you the option to delete it. This may or may not work, but it works for me, so I'm just making a suggestion

can someone please provide me a fix for this

I don't have Outlook installed either, but if I open a new doc in word, click on file go to send to, it's the first one in the next window there.

Help please.

I'm attempting to create a form letter in Word 97 which I can mail merge to email. All well and good so far, but I also need to include an attachment in teh email (A PDF file). Word help seems to suggest that the INCLUDETEXT field is the anser, but I can only get this to insert the contents of the document into the email, not the document itself.

Any clues?

Michael.

I understand, and regularly use the email mail merge function in MS Office WORD 2007 - but am limited because I can't add an attachment - is there a simple solution to this problem?

Thanks

John

Answer:Email Mail Merge with an Attachment

There is no simple way, but it can be done. Here is what I did before. I first setup Outlook to work offline. I then did the mail merge and copy and pasted the file attachments from one email to another. After I get all the attachments pasted I then have the PC work online and hit send/receive to send them all out.

In my company, one of my bosses is running Windows XP and has an intermittent problem. Word and Excel email attachments will intermittently not open, Word and Excel will also not launch from the Desktop. In Outlook 2007, previewing a file shows the file intact.

Sometimes, the files will open, but it takes up to five minutes for them to open. I have made sure these documents are associated with the proper program and I have cleared the temporary file in Outlook by going through regedit to find the culprit HKEY.

I am totally baffled as to why this is occuring. Can you help?

Ok I am trying to configure Word 2002 to attach doc files as attachments only. I know I can attach manually but looking to check the settings for a novice friend - using my own PC - I find while the "email" to place the text into an email is functioning - the "email as attachment" button is disabled - I have checked in tools/options/general and "mail as attachemnt" is checked .But still it is disabled. I can think of no security firewall settings that would prevent this as I send attachments normally with Outlook Express 6 without a problem.-

Answer:Word "email as attachment" button disabled

Ok I have fixed it - I had to add something to the win.ini file - however there is another problem in sending which I will have to now troubleshoot . Oh well.

I downloaded a half page Word file as an attachment, worked on it for a class until it was 10 pages and periodically hit the "disk" button in the menu, thinking it was being saved. When I was done I closed the window and it didn't ask me if I wanted to save my changes; it just closed. I went to look for it and I couldn't find it anywhere. Where could it be? It is not in the recent docs, temp files, or downloads. I used Yahoo Mail and Vista w/ Word 2007. It's urgent because the paper is due on Wednesday and I don't have time to rewrite it. Please let me know if you need more info.

Two things you might do:

1. You mentioned you already checked your "Recent Docs" list in Word, but also check your Recent Items list in the Vista Start menu. It may still be there. If it is, just do a Save As and save it to the location you need.

2. Do an Advanced Search of your entire computer. Press the Windows key with the F key.
That brings up the Search page - click the Advanced Search button to the far right to open the set up screen.
In the next screen check: the Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files option. Under Location, select Computer or Everywhere, and in the Name box, fill in the name of the file you?re looking for, or some text from within the file. (After this first search is completed, if it was unsuccessful, do additional searches for any other key words you think might be associated with that... Read more

This morning I received an email from supposedly Google that they detected a suspicious login. I clicked the link to change my password, but it asked me to install a browser plug-in. That was a dead give away so I didn't proceed from there on. BUT have I jeopardized my account/computer just by clicking on the link?

I looked at the codes on the page as well and the plugin/addon files were linked from Dropbox. Won't give you guys the link unless asked. Thanks.

Answer:Anyone ever received a fake email from Google?

Do a full scan, but you're probably OK.

*Never* follow a login ( or recovery ) link from an email, always manually browse to it.

Either my computer is acting irrationally or I've missed a setting somewhere. My 4-yr.-old HD died about 3 weeks ago. Replaced it, loaded in all drivers, brought XP back to SP3 level with all 114 security updates, and loaded back on all the programs I wanted, including MS Office 2000. Everything seems to be working perfectly.

But I'm having a problem with Word. I frequently want to attach a document directly to an e-mail message and have for 12 years used the icon I install on the Word toolbar for sending a Word doc as an attachment. Today I put that same icon back on the toolbar. . . but when I open any Word doc, the icon is dimmed/not usable. Why?

The e-mail client I'm using on this machine is still OE.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows Live Mail

I received an email with a .PPS attachment. When I try to open the attachment, I get the message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action..."

However, if I save the attachment to my hard drive and double-click on it, PowerPoint Viewer 2007 launches and I can watch the slide show. Also, I checked in Control Panel and saw that the file association for .PPS is PowerPoint Viewer. So the problem appears to be in Windows Live Mail.

Any suggestions how to repair this? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Since using this Windows mail, people with email accounts on verizon.net and optonline.net do not receive my email messages when sent thru Windows mail. If I send these people the same message thru Comcast webmail the message is received by these people. Email accounts on yahoo, gmail, and various other servers can receive the messages. This leads me to conclude that there is something that Windows mail is doing to the outgoing message that is causing it to be rejected by certain servers.

Has anyone heard of such an issue or have any idea what the issue might be?

Answer:Word Document E Mail

Yes, just add it as an attachment to an e-mail message. Or, depending on the Word version, it will have a "Send To" option, in the "File" drop down menu with several e-mail options.

One note, most but not everyone is able to read MS Word documents. Make sure whoever you send it to can open it.

Until recently I could open Word documents attached to emails sent or received in Windows Live Mail. Suddenly this has stopped.

Other file types e.g. Excel still open if I double click on them or choose open - up comes a box that asks 'do you want to open this file? and I simply click 'open'. But for the past week or so I have been unable to open attached Word documents. If I double click on the word doc or click open the document opens in Wordpad. I have spent hours looking online and trying to sort this out.

Can anyone help me please? I want to be able to double click or hit the 'open' option and have the document open in Word, like it used to. I know I can use 'save as ' but it's more time consuming.

Can anyone think why this would just change like this?

Answer:Word docs sent or received as attachments in Windows Live Mail are opening in WordPad

Go to Control Panel/Default Programs/Associate a File Type with a program. scroll down to .docx and .doc and click the Change Program button, Choose Word to open this file click OK.

Open your email client and start a new outgoing email message, select the names of those to whom you want to send the document, and then depending on the specific email client click on either "attach file" or "insert file" or something similar and navigate to the file you want to send and double-click on it. I just sent an e-mail to a doctor but it came back undelivered--apparently the address was out of date. Rather than type it all over again, I assume I can simply copy my e-mail text to a new Word document using the Edit feature. What are the steps to doing that?
Davide

Answer:How To Copy E-mail Text To A New Word Document

That should be quite straightforward. Open your email client and find the original email - there will probably be a copy in the "Sent" or similar named folder. Double click the email to open it in a full window.Press Ctrl+A (i.e. hold down the 'Ctrl' key and press the 'A' key at the same time.) Then press Ctrl+C You can close the email window and minimise the email client at this point.Open word with a new blank document and press Ctrl+V the text from your email should appear in the Word document, the font will be changed to the default Word font but otherwise the text will be the same.Hope that's what you were after.

Is there way to transfer a document's material to an email and keep the formatting? I have graphics laid out in the word document and I can't figure out a way to keep the correct images & layout and transfer it to email. Is there another program I should be using? I'd save the document as a PDF which would retain all formatting etc, and attach it to an e-mail. You can have embedded hyperlinks in it to still make it active linked to websites etc. http://voices.yahoo.com/converting-word-pdf-tips-preserve-hyperlinks-6360488.html

I opened a word document from an email (attachment) and worked on it and hit "Save". I am unable to access all the work, and the "Search" is unable to find the document.
Can someone guide me how I can retrieve the file?

I am a newbie and I would appreciate any help urgently.

Thanks

Answer:Word document saved in Outlook email

The easiest way to figure out where your document went is to open an email message that includes an attachment, open the attachment, then go to File--> Save As. The Save As default path is always the same for emails, and the reason the search doesn't find it is because it is hidden in a temporary internet file folder. (Something like C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK) Chances are as soon as you click Save As, you will see the document sitting in the temp folder. Then instead of saving the dummy doc you opened, simply right click on the doc you want, and hit copy. Then paste it somewhere (like your desktop for easy access), and there it will stay! Hope this helps!!

I received a letter as an attachment via my ntl email account and opened the attachment which opens on word 2003. I could only see the date and my name on the document. A bit of exploring showed that the text of the letter was contained in a text box. I could not change the size of the text box or get to the text except by deleting the first part of the text to display the second bit. Using the menu option I could convert to frame and read text that way (a job rejection letter!)Anyway, I then forwarded the email to my yahoo email account, where the attachment was scanned and the document opened in all its glory, including the company logo and graphics.....So far I have checked that both documents are loading up the same version of word (same license number and version) and am stumped......I have norton installed on my PC so at the moment am debating if there is a problem with that when it is scanning the ntl delivered document (if it is) or maybe even if my outlook needs reinstalling.I can't blame ntl if the document forwards to yahoo ok.reopening the attachments for both sources several times and I get the same result so it isn't a one-off glitch.....Confused? Oh yes....

Answer:word document not opening properly from email

Word is opening the document differently from outlook. It opens it in report layout and I have to click on the actual page button to display the contents of the document. If I save the document and open it it opens up normally. very odd.

I have word 2010 and have created a source document in mail merge. I cannot print the source document out which contains about 40 lines individuals with data like email address, telephone numbers etc. How can I do print the source document

Answer:Print source document in mail merge Word 201-

Hi if you created the source file using the merge wizard it would have asked you to name it and save it. It would have saved the source file (if you didn't tell it otherwise) inC:\Users\yourusername\Documents\My Data SourcesIs this what you did? If so, can you find the file that was created? The default format would be .mdb which is an MS Access database. If this is the case your best bet to print the information is to complete the mail merge. If you can, the best way to create a source file is using excel which most people find to be a little friendlier than Access.Once you find your source file or recreate it in Excel you can run your mail merges. If you need help with that, just ask - we're happy to try.

Hi - I am running Vista Ultimate, Windows Live Mail and Word 2000. I can not email a displayed document directly from Word. The email icon is greyed out.

I would prefer to not have to move to a later version of Word as with all Microsoft products MS seems intent on taking things that were simple and making them aggrivatingly complicated and annoying. My kingdom for a 'Don't Think For Me' button.

Anyway, rants aside, can anyone tell me:

1) Is there a way to be able to email (not as an attachment) from Word 2000 in my environment (using Windows Live Mail).
2) Which versions of Word can you email from using Windows Live Mail? For example, if I upgrade to Word 2007 can I then email? Or from Wird 2008?

I really need this feature as it is a backbone of our internal documentation and reporting system.... I will suffer a Word upgrade if I have to, but just want to make sure it will work before I take the plunge.

I type my document in Microsoft Word on my laptop computer and put them onto a flash drive from my laptop. When i go home I put in my flashdrive to sent the document by email and it goes through, but is all garbled on the receivers end.

Answer:word document on flash drive garbles in email

There are a lot of steps in between. Does the file open on the flash drive? What about when copied to the computer? What version of Word was it created with? Using standard fonts? Any special coding? Does the receiver have the same version of Word installed? Is the problem with just one recipient?

Hey,

I'm having an issue with sending a Word document as an HTML email through my Microsoft Entourage. When I click "send as an HTML document" in Word the email pops up in Entourage, but it looks scrambled. The graphics are in all the wrong places and some of the text is missing.

Can you tell me what I might be doing wrong?

I am using:
Microsoft Word 2004 Version for Mac 11.3
Microsoft Entourage 2004 Version for Mac 11.3.3
Mac OS X 10.3.9

Answer:Converting a Word Document to an HTML email in Entourage

Word Document: Correct Format

Entourage Messages: Scrambled
