Preferred Solution: Windows Insider Update doesnt start -> how to cancel?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Windows Insider Update doesnt start -> how to cancel?

Sometimes it takes some time for the updates to happen. They look like they're stuck at 0%, but really they're still loading.
Your best bet is to set it on a charger and let it finish the update.

Recently my Internet Explorer v6.0 has been acting up a lot. For example, the print window no longer comes up by any means, making it impossible to print anything from IE, although the printer works fine with any other program. In addition, the Windows Upate page no longer loads. Javascript windows no longer load either. I tried reinstalling the current version of IE, updating to the newest version, and then reverting back to this version, but the problem remained for all attempts. I'm wondering what happened here, and how can I fix this?

Answer:Internet Explorer doesnt print, Windows Update doesnt load.

Hello everyone,

Im new, so bear with me please. The problem is on my old Sony Viao Model PCG-6H4L XP. I wanted to start fresh and the recovery system for windows gives me only a limited number of dates. I thought that the Viao recovery would do the job.

I was wrong.

I haven't checked recent forums about problems with this, so I went ahead and broke my laptop.
Before the Recovery system starts, my laptop says, with a black background,

'File \minint\system32\biosinfo.inf could not be loaded
The error code is 51239

Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.'

When I exit, it turns off, reboots, and this message cycles and cycles.

P.S: Below this message, there is a large, long bar that runs across the screen.
P.SS: Thankfully, I transferred the documents to an external HD, but I still need the laptop.

In need for desperate help, I need an answer!!

I'm unable to install an update to windows installer 3.1. I've tried many times and it always fails. But I also read the fine print about that update and it doesn't sound as if it matters much if I don't install it, so I'm going to ignore it.

Trouble is, I can't find a way to tell windows update to STOP automatically notifying me that that update is available. I can cancel it but every time I restart I get the update shield back again.

Obviously, that's not a problem, just an annoyance. But is there a way to tell windows update to stop offering me that particular update permanently?

Hi. I was getting some help for a virus that was on my computer not long ago, and I was also having trouble updating Windows (XP, 32-bit) but was later able to solve this problem. However, it seems I accidentally selected some custom updates that I don't need and can't install. I was told that they're for Windows XP 64-bit, and the codes are KB2656370 and KB2656353, if that helps. I've looked around online, but I haven't yet found any useful information that would tell me how to prevent these from trying to install every time I turn on my computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:windows live essentials update how to cancel this

You could go to Add remove programs and remove it from there if it is on it.But if you have windows messenger it will remove that as well.If it is just the update you want to stop run windows update manually and when it shows click on security essential and a box will open underneat.Tick the little square saying don't show update again. That should do it.But I would check Add remove to see if you have it on there. You remove that and you will probably remove a few more programs with it.

After booting and waiting few seconds, the system does freeze and if I press Ctrl Alt Del and press Cancel, the system comes back to life.

After the freezing and after the Ctrl Alt Del Cancel operation, the system come back to life, however the screen saver does not work and every Power Option that I establish, do not work. When I boot, if I leave the system without doing anything, then the screen saver do work as well as any Power Option I had configured.

Checked virus and malware many times and nothing came up.

Particularly I run Kindle for PC on Windows Home Premium 64, and it does freeze every time. Or come up with the problems listed below that do happen even after the Ctrl Alt Del / Cancel operation. Sometimes I am able to access the menu but it freezes at some point. If sometimes I am able to check for problems in the help menu, everything is green and ok. Sometimes I can access one bought books, but cannot highlight a text. Or change the size of the font. I can mark the text, but when I try to highlight, the pointing hand turns into a hyphen. Cannot, in any way, add a note or use the copy function. However I can always use the built dictionary without any problems. Hi, I got a problem with my Lenovo Ideapad Z580, which is about 3 years old.In the last couple of months i noticed my laptop overheating and the fan control didnt work anymore. I checked for updates at the time but couldnt find anything (as this was a general answer online for the lenovo problem). Online it looked like fan problems are quit common for lenovo so i decided to wait out and see if it magicly restarts one day. it didnt, and with CPU checker i noticed temperatures reaching 100 degrees.. Today I checked if there might be a update or BIOS available. I noticed a new BIOS and downloaded it. While installing the BIOS the laptop shut itself down without restarting. After a while i tried to restart manually but the screen didnt go on, lights go on on the keyboard but no respons to any keys. After about 2 minutes it automaticly shuts down again. While its " trying" to start up the battery led blinks avery 4-5 seconds..If I install a dvd the dvd drive makes a sound when starting up.When i connect a usb it shows a light on the usb for the first couple seconds and then it goes off again. It looks to me that the BIOS install failed and damaged the laptop to such extend that its not working anymore. I looked in other forums and tried the various: Power drain  and restart. fn+r - power on, etc. Is this a more common problem and are there any tips?or is a Flash Drive Bios restart the only option left? Love to hear from you!Lukasps. Hi folks,
I recently updated my Lumia 1520 to update 2 via windows insider trick. Now I pretty much want to receive normal updates that are pushed to my device in the future and not windows 10 TP and all. So can u guys suggest me what to do in order to receive normal updates? Currently the update setting shows windows 10 update ready to download... Is there any trick that can help me?
Thank you.

Answer:Some help regarding wp 8.1 update 2 (via windows insider app)

I believe you will have to hard reset the device since you aren't supposed to stay on Update 2. It was supposed to stay there for a little bit, then upgrade to 10 automatically. Erase the device to "forget" that whole plan.
However, there may or may not be a less destructive solution since while I know when the device is asking to install it's too late, but I don't know about asking to download.

I am enrolled in the slow ring of the windows insider preview. I have a Lumia 640 . The internal storage available in it is 7.28 gb. To update, it requires 1.22 gb. I have removed all apps and documents I could have removed. Now only system does and the (uninstallable) Microsoft apps are left. How do i get the else required to update?
PS: The mail+ messaging shows it is using 103mb space. Can that be removed?

Plz help me...i don't know the difference between windows insider and update advisor.
I updated my lumia 640 by windows insider...is there any problem?
Plz help me

Answer:Windows insider vs update advisor

Update adviser is to let you know whether or not your phone is compatible and for when MS/Carrier have the official WM10 update ready for your phone. Windows Insider is so you can preview pre release builds of WM10 on your device. Which ring did you choose? I updated my wife's 640 to the insider release preview ring for the .242 update(which will be more stable than the slow or fast rings) then removed her from the insider program so she'll get the next production release. I hope this makes sense, let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

You'll wait a few months for a device from MS with similar specs. However, there have been several new models released that run W10M. If you're not particular about getting a microsoft branded phone, you could purchase one assuming it is available in your region
You could also test with insider after buying 640xl. But you'll have to do upgrade process carefully. Check the forums for guidelines

I like many others have been having a problem getting my Windows Update set up to get insider builds. Even though I had signed in using my Microsoft account, I get getting the "Fix me" button which gave me a message about stopping insider builds. I think I identified the problem. I did a clean install of 10162 on a spare drive as a stand alone system. Update told me I was all set to get insider builds. Then I reattached my drive with Windows 8.1 and set it up for dual boot. As soon as I did this I got the infamous "Fix me" button. I then disconnected the Windows 8.1 drive and update told me I was once again all set to get insider builds. Strange - when Update sees another windows install on my system, it disables insider builds.

Answer:Problem with getting Insider Builds thru Windows Update

Yup that is unfortunately what happens if you dual boot with another version of Windows.
I get exactly the same scenario dual booting Windows 10 and 7.
If I want to update Win 10 I have to disconnect my Win 7 drive then all goes well until I reconnect my Win 7 drive and boot up, then follows a sequence of CHKDSK.

The Insider Previews aren't stable releases they are test builds... you shouldn't use them on a primary machine. If you need to recover files follow this guide:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/data-recovery-using-fedora/
You can download Windows 10 and clean install:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-windows-10-oem-and-retail-iso/
If you want to remain on the Insider Preview. Use the Insider Preview .iso:

Yes.The Windows mobile 10 are not released yet,and if you want w10 the only way until now is via insiders.I'm an owner of Lumia 640 xl dual sim,and I dont know how 535 works but I tell you to download the w10.They are so good and smooth from the last 2-3 updates. In the app you can choose between slow-fast.And if you don't want to get fast and with buggs updates choose slow.
IF you wanna to try the last update just use fast.

Hi everyone,
Before heading off for the holidays I wanted to give a little bit of an update on how things are shaping up for Windows 10, especially since we don?t have a build for you this month. I know that some of you are disappointed that we didn?t release another build (though we know some of them escaped?.I?m looking at you 9888 & 9901?)* but now that we?ve announced our event on January 21st I can finally explain why we didn?t. We?ve been very hard at work putting together a great build for you that includes a bunch of new features and improvements. As all of those payloads came in we needed to stabilize code, fix any integration issues, and ensure all of the new UX is polished. We?re really focused on making the next build something that we hope you?ll think is awesome. In fact, just so that we have a *daily* reminder to ourselves that we want this build to be great, we even named our build branch FBL_AWESOME. Yeah, it?s a bit corny, but trust me that every Dev that checks in their code and sees that branch name gets an immediate reminder of our goal. We?re super excited to show you what we?ve been up to! got a lumia 1320..updated to windows 8.1 without any issue.
did hard reset/soft reset..then downloaded windows insider so that I can upgrade to windows 10.. but getting errors like "A connection error prevented us from downloading programs for you, check your date/ time settings in your phone"
changed date/time settings to US, India and everything still no success.
Browsing forums suggested that I have to register on insider . windows.c o m
While I tried to do that, I am not able to do so...I have a screenshot of the error but not able to paste the link here..

I'll try to describe what i did before i got this problem.
I have RealOne player, and when i started it today i had to update it, it was 144 kb update, and when it was finished an automatic install process had started (but don't know if it was from real one player), and at the middle of the installation Kaspersky Internet Security popped up with a warning that there is a trojan in some web adress, i dont remember which, because it wasn't like an ordinary name of web address, but im sure it's name was starting with http.

I clicked deny on the virus, and soon, my explorer.exe closed, and then automatically started again, but then it closed again, and so on, until i restarted my computer.

When i clicked on my user account, the explorer.exe again closed and the same process again, then i - end task explorer.exe on Windows Task Manager, and it didn't start anymore.

So using Task Manager, i started Firefox, and here im writing my problem without desktop toolbar (start menu), without icons, and if i start explorer with Task manager two processes start at the same time : explorer.exe and imapi.exe. And then first impai.exe closes first (i see that in the Task Manager,), and after imapi.exe, explorer.exe closes automatically.

Hope i will get HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BECAUSE I CAN'T WORK WITHOUT EXPLORER.EXE

Answer:Explorer.exe Doesnt Start At Windows Start. Help Me Please

hello BlackLynx, and welcome to Bleepingcomputer.I have a question why did you end-task explorer.exe??Anyways, folllow these steps and you should able to have explorer.exe backCTRL-Alt-Del to bring up Task ManagerClick File, New TaskType in regedit in the box and then click OKFind the following registry keyHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution.optionsUnder this key there might be subkeys named explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe. These keys are files that have been removed Delete the explorer and iexplorer keysIT should not be under the Image File Execution.Options keyClose the Registry EditorRestart your computer. Now windows should load properly. If it still doesn't work it may be an infection of some sort. You might want to post this topic in the "am i infected" forum.

hi !! hi! im very upset with the lenovo customer support, is poor and unuseful. this is the third time that i need to use the one key restore, to revive my computer, because for some reason, the laptop after some time suddenly starts to run very slow, and when i restart the laptop it doesn t start, and automatically starts a disk analysis, and lasts around 10 hours, and the most of the archives says are unreadable, and doesn t fix anything. this time, the one key recovery, and the other wiindows tools, doesn t works, i have tried with f8 and run all that i can to try to revive my laptop but nothing happens. is weird, and i dont know if is related with the instalation of the live 8 (program to record music), but the 3 times that i had to use the restore, i had instaled the live 8 some days before. and now im wondering if exists a tool or something like that, that i can use to revive my pc without losing my files?? thanks for read this!!!

Hello, I've been trying for hours to get my HTC One M8 to run the Windows 10 preview, but I'm having some issues.
- As most people have suggested, I've hard reset my phone, not used a backup, then installed the insider preview and signed up for fast ring (I hear the newest build is great).
- Once I've done this and the phone has restarted and everything, I go to check for updates and.... nothing. Says my device is up to date.
- Tried resetting (twice), using the WP recovery tool, and still no updates come around.
Any suggestions? Could this have anything to do with my carrier (Verizon)? Am I out of luck? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Upgrading One M8 for Windows from 8.1 Update 2 to W10M Insider Preview?

I have an HTC One M8 running 10586.218 that my son is using (left IOS and likes W10M) and it runs very good on that phone.
You will not get an upgrade using the fast ring on the HTC, that is just for "supported" devices. You can get the very good 10586.218 release using "Insider Release" not "slow" or "fast" though. Not sure if "production" ring will get you anything either.

I have recently updated my Lumia 730 to denim update in India and now I am interested to become an insider and I wanted to test windows 10 on my phone. But I signed in for windows inside and I installed windows insider app but I was shocked the app is saying that there are no builds available for me. What should I do to get the windows 10.

Answer:Windows insider app not working on Lumia 730 for those with denim update

Then I am shocked that you did not read which OS version you need.
Your OS is probably to high. So you have to wait till Microsoft releases an W10 version which allows higher OS versions to join.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...pported-phones
We're working to get more Windows Phone models supported worldwide. Download the Windows Insider app, and when your phone is supported you'll be able to sign in with the same Microsoft account you used to join the Windows Insider Program. Windows 10 Technical Preview currently works with the following phones?as long as they have at least 8 GB of storage, Windows Phone 8.1 was already installed on the phone at the time of purchase, and the version number is 8.10.14219.341 or earlier:

I just reinstalled 8 on a ssd and tried to install 8.1 from the store but it says i need to update windows first. I tried running windows update but i get an error saying "Windows could not search for new updates" error code 80240440. I tried everything I could find online and nothing seems to work. I tried restarting windows update, i tried turning off firewall, I tried reinstalling windows again and selecting "check for updates online" before installing from the cd, i tried running a check disk, and there is absolutely no program installed on the drive other than windows. I think this is absurd and insane, i've never had so many problems with an operating system before, especially for something so basic as an update utility. Can anyone help me out?

I don't think you can disable windows update if you are a windows insider. At least not officially. You can, however, stop being an insider and then control and stop windows update.

I'm running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3. Used Spybot S&D to immunize against common risks and ad-aware. My girlfriend tried to start an .exe which she downloaded from the internet. My pc started to change the normal behaviour and i noticed it yesterday. It found some malware on some of those files. Yesterday on the evening i deleted some of the downloaded files and checked my pc again. The amount of "hits" seem to explode. Didnt expect any trouble after cleaning with Ad-Aware. Afterwards tried to use Spybot Search and Destroy. It didnt even load. Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes both told me to check my internet connection even though i'm currently online while updating with no effect. Hello all,

Real quick, I'm having an issue where I try to update from Build 15031.rs2_release.170204-1546 to the next rs2_release available via Windows Update. The update downloads, does the pre-install, boots me into the traditional blue screen of updating, finishes, then reboots me to get back into the OS. At this juncture, I am at a blue flag and white dot circle, which has stopped spinning (it spins for approx .75 seconds) and halts, machine stays in this state ad infinitum. I can reboot it, at which point it goes back to the same state. If i shut down, then power back up instead (cold boot), the machine reverts the upgrade and goes back to the previous build and everything is honkey dorey.

Thing 1) I do not have a wireless USB mouse/dongle. Please don't recommend I remove it as one does not exist.
Thing 2) I have removed two possible culprits (Creative SoundBlaster Z card, Asus Wireless-N card). No change.
Thing 3) I have unplugged all video (except 1 Display Port), all USB connections, and the Ethernet cable. No change.
Thing 4) I even went so far as to disconnect my NZXT water cooler USB connector from the motherboard header and reboot. No change.

Most posts I see, it's a "Oh, your wireless usb mouse is causing issues" or, "the PC is having issues discovering USB devices during it's boot process, disconnect them". Well, I've done it, and it's still busted. This has happened with /every/ developer preview update since Win 10 was release. The first... Read more

I read through this and don't see anything I can help with except for what could be called a stupid question: Could it be your computer is too good for the IP versions? I pose that only because I have IP on a Dell 530 SFF computer and a Dell Optiplex 755 computer from back in Vista and Win7 days and working fine. I did have to use an Add-in Video card in both as the onboard graphics adapter had no drivers for Win10.

Whilst attempting to update from build 16176 to 16179 it fails with error Windows 10 Insider Preview 16179.1000 (rs_prerelease) - Error 0x80070005

Finds this update and downloads a KB then starts to install 16179 but quickly stops with this error. I've tried stopping all non MS services and startup programs and rebooting but it still fails. I've also followed numerous different suggestions which got extremely complicated but had no effect.

DISM restorehealth can't find the files and I don't have an ESD/ISO for build 16176

I tried to reset my windows but it only offers a total reinstall losing my software and settings which will be a PIA to rebuild.

I could wait for the next insider release and see if MS have fixed it or is it a problem on my particular PC?

I had the same problem, see here: Get out of Insider updates.

Does just as its name describes. If you choose the setting you can reinstall Windows 10 without having to back up any of the pictures, videos, music and documents that you have stored on it. You absolutely should back up these things just in case, but you shouldn?t need to use that back up. Keep My Files requires a certain amount of free space on your device. As such, it may be unavailable to you if your device is stuffed with a lot of files. I was looking into the option of getting Update 2 (only) by enrolling in Insider Slow, then deleting the app, but on my 830 the only option is Insider Fast. On my Lumia 810 the options are Slow or Fast. What gives?

Answer:Windows Insider only option is Insider Fast w/ Lumia 830 RM-985 CA-00

Microsoft (Gabe Aul) stated that they don't have anything for slow ring until next build at the soonest. You can try to get it through fast ring though.

Hallo all!

I need a BIG HELP! Today i dont know what happend with me i just deleted everything from HKEY_CURRENT_USSER category Software and i have deleted Software folder from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to.

So pleas people help i have tryed Windows repair tool they cant fix it.

PC dont starts at win 7 loading pc restarts.

Thanks!

Answer:Windows doesnt start

Hello examtot,

You deleting those registry entries is what happened, and why Windows 7 will not start now. Next time, please do not delete registry items if you do not know what they are for to avoid this.

You could do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you deleted everything to hopefully undo and fix this for you.

If you do not have any restore points, then I'm afraid that your only option left will be to reinstall Windows 7.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

safe mode with command prompt
Last know good configuration (your most recent settings that worked )
Start Windows Normally
I have tryed all options but all failed to work. It tries to start up and then a blue screen flashes for about 2 seconds then restarts my computer. im not able to use command prompt or anything. Just the boot menus and whatever else i can open and use when the computer starts up. so please keep that in mind if you post a reply. Thanks

Hi,
My computer keeps on restarting over and over. It never reaches the desktop. I can access the safe mode window and the Phoenix BIOS Setup Utility by holding the ctrl key. Please help my computer get to the desktop. Thanks.

Answer:Windows Xp Doesnt Start

If you can get into Safe Mode please do this thru Safe Mode

n order to figure out why you are getting random reboots, you need to make a settings change to your computer. Go to:

Start > right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Setup and Recovery 'Settings'

UN check 'Automatically Restart'. Click OK.

Reboot your computer. Now when Windows detects a problem it will not automatically reboot, but rather give you a blue screen.

Blue screens are often called 'Blue Screens of Death' (or BSOD) by users, and 'Stop Messages' by Microsoft. We need to know the exact message you see when you get the blue screen. We especially are looking for a set of letters and numbers about half way down the page that take this format:

0x0000008e

This is usually followed by a set of 4 similar numbers in parenthesis. For now we just need the first set of letter and numbers (before the numbers in the parenthesis).

the comp says we apologise for the inconveinience but windows will not start properly a recent software or hardware change has occured. if ur comp stops responding please choose recent best startup. after choosing it , it goes to a blue screen this is a friends comp wat does she do?

Answer:Windows Doesnt Start Up

The 'Blue Screen of Death' (or BSOD) is refered to by Microsoft as a Stop Message. They can occur for many reasons. In order to diagnose it's cause we need as much info as you can give about the stop message. Please write it down and post it back here the next time it happens. In particular, it helps to have the somewhat cryptic series of numbers about half way down the blue screen that have this sort of format:0x0000008E (Followed by four other sets of numbers in parenthesis.) It is also helpful to know the answers to these questions:What are you doing when this happens (are you on line, starting the computer, etc).Does it always happen at the same time?Is it always the same message, or is it a different set of numbers each time?Have you added any hardware or software lately? Are you experiencing any other buggy behavior from this computer (such as it runs slower than it used to, etc)?

Hey
Im running windows xp
Last night I made the mistake of simply unplugging the computer
Now, When I turn it on, it says windows did not shut down properly
Safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode command prompt
last settings that worked
start normally

I can pick any of them, and when I do, the windows XP splash comes up, the blue bar scrolls for a bit, a blue screen with writing flashes very fast and it restarts all over again

I also allowed it to count down the 25 seconds or whatever, its just a big loop

Help me out?

How do I prevent programs running automatically after starting PC.

Answer:Cancel auto start up in XP

There are a couple of ways, filip. Go to your Startup folder and remove any mention of them from that folder. Or, more likely, go to Start > Run, type in "msconfig" (without the quotes), press OK and click on the Startup tab, then remove the tick from the offending program's entry/ies. Click Apply and OK to exit, then reboot your PC.

Hello everyone,
I've already upgraded to Windows 10 (from W7) around August 18th, and still didn't get the Fall Update.
That was fine, I tried using Media Creation Tool and installing the upgrade manually. After "Copying files" was done, at about 30%, right before starting to install drivers and features, it will stop installing and "restore to previous version of Windows", which is Windows 10.
I decided two days ago to join The Insider program on my laptop too, and after couple hours, I was able to download the latest build of Windows 10.
Again, same problem, it wouldn't install drivers and features, and restores the previous version of Windows.
I read somewhere that turning Wifi OFF might solve it but no solution.
Any suggestions?

source: Insider Preview Update KB4046355 Silently Uninstalls Windows Media Player

After Windows Insiders installed update KB4046355 for the Insider Build 16299.15, they discovered that Windows Media Player had been silently removed from the computer. As Build 16299 is the Fall Creators Update that is scheduled to come out this month, it is unknown whether the removal of Windows Media Player is intentional as part of this large update or a bug.
Insiders not happy with missing Windows Media Player

The only way Insiders realized that Windows Media Player was removed was when they tried to use it to play a video. It was then discovered that Windows Media Player was silently removed after installing the October 3rd 2017 KB4046355 update. This update is called and "FeatureOnDemandMediaPlayer", but does does not provide any information as to what it does.

The only thing we do know, is that after this update was installed, all that was left behind is an empty Windows Media Player folder.Click to expand...

Thankfully, it may be possible to reinstall Windows Media Player
While some people have reported that they were unable to restore Windows Media Player, others have stated that they were able to install the program again using the Apps control panel. To restore Windows Media Player in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, simply follow these steps:
Goto Settings.
Click on Apps.

My windows time doesnt start and always end up being 4 hours behind when I start the computer. When I go into services, i see that it is set to automatic but it has not started. I even removed and reinstalled it but to no avail. Anyone has a solution? I have triple boot with CentOS and Ubuntu as well and the time usually changes when I boot into those. But I havent used those in over a month and still the time changes by itself as well and the service stops by itself.

Answer:Windows time doesnt start

make sure your time in bios is set to the actual time.
if still no go, right click on the time and date on the bottom right and click properties. from there you can adjust time and date and time zones.
