Preferred Solution: How do you remove a picture from the background picture in personalize setting?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hello there.

i have a template MS word document that i regularly convert into a PDF.

In MS word it is quite simple to set the background of the document to feature an image file. however, when the document is converted to PDF the picture isn't 'carried' across along with the text and other formatting.

ok, well, fair enough. but surely there must be someway of setting a picture file as the background upon which the text appears?

i have taken a look through Acrobat's help files and gone to their homepage, but so far haven't figured it out. sadly, emails to Adobe's tech support people haven't recieved a response (that was several weeks ago).

if anyone could give me a few pointers, that would be terrific - even a simple "no, it can't be done," would at least be something.

with thanks

If you mean lockscreen, then lockmix is a good one, or lock screen manager(IIRC that's what it's called)

Question: Background Picture

I am trying to create a document in M'Soft Office 2010, using a picture of a Kingfisher in the background, very similar to having a watermark on the page.

As yet I have not been able to find the controls that will let me insert a picture then fade it into the background so I can type text over the top. For all I know, it may not be possible to do what I want but if anyone has any advice on how to achieve this, I will be very pleased to receive it.

Best wishes,

A couple of days ago, someone loaded a sonicwall vpn application on my laptop so that I could access their network. they also then used a remote dial-in facility to check a few things out. In doing so, I lost my desktop background and now no longer have the ability to select my own picture as a background, I can only select the standard ms options. I saw a reply from 2007 which suggested going to display properties, then desktop items then customise then select the "web" tab - but I only have a general tab! I assume something has happened to remove my web tab and hence my ability to customise. Any idea on how can I get this back?

When i just stretch the image it gets to distorted. Is there any way i can convert it to a better file type so when i stretch i can have good quality? Or is there some other means of doing this?

Overcooked,

In the IMAGE RESIZE is there anything that says Keep Proportions? If so click it this will stop it from being distorted.

Hi guys,

I've had this issue for a couple of weeks now and although it appears minor - I have a feeling there could be an underlying issue. It's now impossible for me to set my background image as anything apart from a solid colour. I've tried many different pictures and after saving the changes, nothing in effect is saved or changed. Is this a straight forward fix or am I in need of a virus scan? I do have McAfee however a recent scan had negative results (and yes the scripts were up to date).

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks,

Adam

Answer:seeting up background picture

Ok, have you done a fresh install of Windows?

Which version of Windows?

Was the new hard disk to replace a faulty hard disk that had Windows on it?

Or maybe a bigger hard disk for more space that took a fresh install of Windows.

I'm not sure about the picture problem, try changing the stock windows desktops and see if Windows keeps them. If it does, check the picture you're trying to use as a desktop, it may be corrupted.

As for Windows saying your code number is not genuine, it will have noticed the hardware change and that's why it won't let you activate.

This is a common occurence with Microsoft's Windows and is a Royal pain in the bot but you'll have to go through the telephone activation sequence to activate Windows.

I had to do this with Win 7 after just two months' use when I done a fresh install thanks to a Bios flash failure

The option to activate by telephone should be there when you attempt to activate Windows. I usually find it best to write the numbers down when they're read out by the Microsoft robot, then when you're given the option to check them, do so.

I have come to the conclusion W10 is about a year away from a solid product. I think we are all part of Gamma Testing. Here is one of several problems that should not be occurring.

I set the background picture to the beach scene. It stayed there for about 3 hours. Then the background went to a solid black. If I go back to Background Preview the proper picture is previewed. I can change the solid color to any color by switching to Solid Color and choosing any of the color picks, but no matter how many times I try, reboot, cuss at the screen, I cannot get the background picture to display properly. I can always set the background choice to it, and it shows in the preview, but not as the actual background.

The picture choice also shows in Themes when I look there. Everyplace but where I want it. On my screen as a background.

Doing some searching, it appears this problem dates back to W8.

You should be able to just download it onto your computer, remember where you saved it, Navigate to it, & then just right-click on it & click on "Use as background". If that don't work then just right-click on your desktop & click properties>desktop>Browse. Then navigate to where you saved it & choose it.

With the latest build 10074 there doesn't appear to be a way to use two different background pictures on two monitors. This feature has been available since Windows 7, perhaps earlier. I have provided that information to Microsoft.

Using a horizontal inversion on one picture makes a nice desktop background.

Answer:2 Monitors Only One Background Picture

Yes, They took this option out. However, you can use a third party software such as: DisplayFusion: Multiple Monitors Made Easy! Binary Fortress Software

Answer:desktop background picture

Why bother, they are small files? - but if you ever want them back they must be stored away from where they are. They are small bitmap files which in W 2000 are in the WINNT folder. You will recognise their names.Click on all you want to move, holding down Control while you select them.Right click and choose Cut.Now make a new folder somewhere away from the OS and paste the files in there.

I have a feeling that this is going to turn out to be a silly question with an obvious answer that I'm missing, but here goes.

I have a tablet, a laptop and a desktop computer all running Windows 10. I log on to each with my Microsoft account. Each has all of its settings set to sync yet I have a different background picture on each device. Shouldn't I have the same background on each one in these circumstances? And if so, what determines which background takes precedence?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit

Since writing this I have found my laptop has suddenly changed the background to match with the desktop computer, so now it is only the tablet that is out of sync. Very confusing.

Oh, now the tablet has synced as well. I assume, then, that there must be some sort of delay before syncing takes place. But I still wonder what determines which background takes precedence.

Answer:Can't sync background picture

I have just experienced this myself, and I suspect there was a change to the OS which suddenly shows the background slides "out of synch" on each device. They used to show the same image, but try as I may I cannot get them back in synch.

Your "getting back in sych" is probably because you have few images, and the timing in the slideshow has (coincidentally) showed them back in synch again. It will be interesting to see if they stay in synch. That would probably be the case if you turn off the machine when all desktops ARE the same. When startup happens again, then the timed "change of desktop" would all happen together and so all would be back in synch. (I think that is the secret to getting them back in synch).

My problems started after I disconnected one screen then reconnected it and found a problem in one of my programs not detecting the attached screen. So I performed a "registry clean" (which is always dicey with Windows 10) but that seemed to fix it.

It was then I noticed that the backgrounds were "out of synch". I tried changing the default folder for desktop images ("C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows") which just shows the normal "logon" image, then changed back to the folder where my slideshow of images are held (Windows 10), all to no avail.

So I created a NEW folder under "C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper" called "C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\New Windows 10" and copied my files from... Read more

Hi there.. I haven't found a solution, or even been able to find my problem..

I have my desktop background set to my Picture Library. That library points to My Pictures and the My Pictures folder for the Public user. I have verified that. A few weeks ago (maybe a month, I can't remember exactly when), the slideshow started only using one folder. I went to verify everything and it's set up properly. When I get to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Desktop Background, and select Pictures Library, it is only pulling in photos from one folder, and only bringing in 17 pictures of the 141 in that folder. I have tried doing a system restore to the oldest restore point I had (about 2 1/2 weeks ago) and that didn't do anything. If I select a individual folder, I get all the photos in that folder - adding to my confusion.

Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

I am running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Thank you for your help.

Hey Everyone,

I upgraded my computer (Desktop PC) from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 RTM and while everything works good, I have an issue with my background settings.

I have a folder on a local drive that has all of the pictures that I want in my slide show, and it works fine for a while, but eventually later when I return to my computer, it seems Windows 10 disables slideshow and changes back to 'picture'. I have to manually change it back to slideshow and it works again for some time until it disables again.

I looked at my power settings and nothing in there shows to disable the slideshow on battery (I do have a UPC though) and have tried deleting all of my themes and creating a new one.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Please accept my apology if I posted my question to a wrong place.

This about that how can I delete "Uploaded Desktop Background Picture" from another HDD? Actually image were set as background directly from another attached HDD.

I set a pictures as my laptop Background. I just cannot find this image on my PC. Because that time I were connected to another HDD. There was that image. I didn`t copy or saved this image. Now I want to delete that image. But its not possible at all

When I go to C:\windows\web\wallpapers. I even cannot find it there.

I am using Windows 10. How can I remove this image from My PC Background Wallpapers?

Answer:How can I delete Uploaded Background Picture

I did a quick test where I added two images from a second drive, set one as my background and lock screen image and then disconnected the drive and rebooted. Windows kept the images, I was able to find the image cached in:

appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\themes

There's a cachedfiles folder that had the image and a hidden file called TranscodedWallpaper that was the image as well.

It's possible the file is kept here.

Have tried copying resources file from networked machine-- no joy, and files from both machines exactly the same.

Is there a command missing that will enable this file?
If so where do I get it from?

Hi, Vista does seem to have some gliches here. Try right click in the desktop and select "personalize" then open "Desktop Application" select any other background and apply . Then go back and this time select your background, make sure you put a check in full screen display at the bottom. I think it is to do with shell32, to stop happening again go to start run and type:- press enter (copy and paste)

How can i get it so that i only get the picture??? and no background to it? please help...urgent

Answer:Annoying background around picture...urgent...

.. I'm no expert, especially in Paint Shop, but if you can get your drawplus picture into Paint Shop I think it will be easier. Then make sure your background colour (prob. best on both images) is set to the background colour of the picture (white) and copy it, then select Paste then 'As transparent selection' and it should now be without the white border....

I am having the same issues as the user had in the following closed thread http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/695391-vista-wont-display-picture-thumbnails.html, I have found a workaround by opening an image with Internet explorer and right clicking on picture and selected set image a desktop background.

This happened following a trojan virus that was removed by a norton technition via remote access and after 2 hours of trying to work out why vista will not set picture as background they couldnt work it out. Norton have insured me that the system is clean.

In the above post the guy metions that picture thumbnails are not displayed until you change the view, this is the same for me, however the folder remembers that the view has changed and it displays the thumbnails.

The Norton Technition said they think that Vista isnt reading the folder where it holds the image for the desktop picture, hense it works by doing it off Iexplorer as it takes the image from a different location.

Does anyone have any ideas.

Answer:Vista will not let me set a picture as desktop background.

Ive been checking the registry for wallpaper settings and I am thinking that it maybe caused by wrong Hkey_root_classes. Im thinking that the thumbnail image being displayed as blank is causing the inability to use an image as a desktop background. I have recently installed and uninstalled some video editing software, which I have heard may amend the root_classes.

Does anyone know a way that I can reset the Root_classes to default settings.

This just started last evening. Windows xp restarts, welcome screen and chime happens. Briefly hourglass appears as if looking for drive or something. Then background picture appears as normal desktop. However, no icons, or recycle bin, or access to any windows functions. Mouse still moves, but only option is to push power button, which brings up option of restart or shutdown. Both result in same condition, running, but unable to access anything. Tried holding f8 at start, to "last good config" option, to same results. I am new to PC, started about 3 months ago. Any advice is appreciated.

Are you able to call up the Task Manager? You do that by pressing the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys at the same time. If you're able to open it then click on "File" and select "New Task (Run...)" which will open a box that says "Create new task". Type in the following and then click OK.

explorer.exe

Answer:How can I delete Uploaded Background Picture

In Registry Editor, browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\Wallpaper
the value of that key is the path to the current wallpaper. So set your background to that one that you want to remove, then in registry editor you can find it's path.

Or try looking in %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes for a file called TranscodedWallpaper. I think that windows creates this file when you set a background from a program. I'm not completely sure though. Back it up just in case.

I have found this BUG in Micrososft Word 2007, that I consider to be a SERIOUS ISSUE for Microsoft Office Suite.

If you copy an image from a website and paste in the Word file, the image pastes successfully the first time,
but as you go on & paste other images from the site,
the first image is repeated over and over again, in place of other images (which have the same dimensions).
All other text data remain same, the image titles remain same, but only the image is repeated over and over

PLZ SOMEONE...
HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?

MY MICROSOFT WORD 2007 Spec:
Microsoft? Office Word 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6514.5000)
Part of Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

Answer:Microsoft Office Word 2007 picture paste Bug *same picture is repeated

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I would not advise pasting images in doc files like that,
I would use ms Paint to paste or save picture as
I would really recommend using the windows snipping tool to get the images that way no bugs are being transferred to the machine or programs,
Then use the Insert image option in word...
It's just a safer way to do an operation,
Cheers.

Since you Microsoft account is synced by default, then it most likely automatically changed back after syncing.

If you wanted to have the same user account picture for all devices, then changing it for everything should help.

If you only wanted to change it on this PC, then you could turn off syncing for Appearance under "Personalization settings" using the tutorial below.

I accessed two PC (both Windows 10) through Remote Desktop at the same time from a third one (also Windows 10). For clarity, lets call the remote PCs "RA" and "RB". I set up a background picture ("PA") and sent it to RA, and I set up another picture "PB" and sent it to RB. So, RA got PA, RB got PB. To my complete astonishment (and frustration) the background pictures kept changing, i.e. suddenly RA and RB showed PA, although only RA had received it. And once I chased down PA on RB and deleted it, it would show up shortly afterwards again. Or both showed PB, and so on until I almost got nuts. I (kind of) understand that this is somehow related to remote desktop and roaming. Still I have no clue, and certainly I don't want this crap to happen. Can anyone help, explain and if possible tell me how to stop this?

I have the exact same problem and found only a partial solution. As for the icons/thumbnails, I did the same as you- if you make them smaller you can see them, but you don't have this option for the background pictures and they show up as white boxes

however, i found a weird way to be able to change your background image (i only get solid colors as well). if you go online and use an image from the web (you can even google "windows 7 background images" if you like those) and right click and select set as background image, that DOES change the background for some weird reason. another strange thing- this only works in mozilla firefox and internet explorer, but Not for google chrome. on IE you can set a picture as the background, and on firefox you can set an image and choose between center, tile, or strech options.

really want to change the windows 7 start menu background. i have been trying to understand the few tutorials i found here but none of them seem to be blatant enough for my understanding.. i have installed "restorator 2009" "uxstylecore x64" and "resheack" i attempted to follow a tutorial for restorator. but it does not seem to work as they describe. i copied the aero.msstyles file to desktop and opened it with restorator. then it says to go to images but i do not get an images folder only these. mui/string/version. also upon instructions i installed dark 7 theme but that just makes my explorer turn to basic. i am so lost i have been tweaking windows 7 for quite a while and never had a problem understanding instructions but a must be missing something crucial. caan anyone provide a good tutorial for changing the windows 7 start menu background? without paying a dime. thanks for any help.

Answer:windows 7 start menu background picture?

UxStyle Core does not modify themes, it just circumvents the Microsoft Protection so you can be able to use Custom themes.

Resource Hacker/resheack, only allows you to modify 32bit files. as far as I know

Dont know much about creating themes but the only other software I know of is Win7 Style Builder $22 bucks, or Skinstudio $20. I know your looking for something for free, but I dont think a free one exists ???

I know you can edit the shellstyle.dll's and .msstyles with restorator but have not played around with it for so long i forgot all the details?

I would Start at a few Forums that focus on Windows 7 style building
