Is there a way to install Windows 10 on Android devices like One Plus Two or Xiaomi Mi4?

Question: Is there a way to install Windows 10 on Android devices like One Plus Two or Xiaomi Mi4?

Does anyone know if MSFT is working on installers that someone can buy/get and install it on some of the popular android devices???

Preferred Solution: Is there a way to install Windows 10 on Android devices like One Plus Two or Xiaomi Mi4?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Is there a way to install Windows 10 on Android devices like One Plus Two or Xiaomi Mi4?

Not even close! It's a whole world in terms of OS's! What MSFT did is create a somewhat called launcher (ROM) for the Mi4 (Xiaomi) but it's only tested from the inside (Privately)
So you better grab a Windows launcher in the Play store! Or you could search (If you are lucky) a torrent of the ROM and download it (If available) flash your Android phone and we'll... You got it!
But for now! Not even heard a word of it!

During Microsoft's big announcement earlier today that Windows 10 will arrive this summer, the company also revealed that it is working with Xiaomi to test its new operating system among power users.

Answer:Microsoft is providing select Xiaomi users with a ROM to put Windows 10 on their Android smartphones

And who knows, perhaps this sort of thing could catch on to the point where handsets are sold as barebones devices that allow users to select the OS of their choice during the setup processClick to expand...

If you would have said that a year ago I would have laughed it off but not it seems like that might really be the way of the future.

There hasn't been any real innovation in the smartphone segment for the last few years, interchangeable parts on smartphones may very well be the way of the future, there just doesn't seem to be anyway to improve on what's already here without some drastic improvement like upgradability.

As far as making Windows 10 free to android users seems like a very smart move on Microsoft's part. There are currently more android phones in peoples pockets than any other smartphone. Making their OS free to them is a very easy way to get their OS in everyone's pocket.

Hi I have a very strange problem.Only our Apple devices will connect to our wifi.First let me explain our internet connection.
We have and pay for Internet through RCN cable However my husbands workplace gave him a juniper ssg5 router to connect to our modem so he can work from home a few days a week. He has a Cisco IP phone and laptop running windows 7 configured to connect directly to work via VPN. They also provided a second wireless net WPA for our family to use.

Here's the problem. As of yesterday none of our devices running Windows or Android will connect to the WPA network..Our Apple iPads and iPhone have no problem. We have two HP laptops one running Vista one running 8 and two Lg android phones. The problem seems to have started when I installed Firefox on my laptop running Vista then downloaded and started to install the Firefox app to my android phone.. Could that be the problem.? Then why would it effect my daughters phone and laptop also?

Oh btw hubby is Ocd about his network so although his juniper has two ports we should be able to use I don't see that happening until Friday after work he said he would call tech support then
Thanks for any insight you can give me

I know the folks over at XDA will be all over this when it "officially" is released, but I would love to see a way to patch the hardware gaps (drivers and all) and get Tegra 2 and other chipsets supported by Windows 8 soon.
I adore my Toshiba Thrive tablet and honestly it does everything I need it to. But as Windows Phone has grown on me - yes, I tired of the force closes, failed messages and other issues that plagued my Android phones - I really wish my Tablet matched. I won't be one that will go purchase a Windows 8 tablet as my Thrive is everything I want it to be, but it sure would be great to have an option to change it in the near future.
Anyone else jumping in with the I wish that it worked with my... ideas?

You have to turn on DLNA sharing. It is not enough to just share and give permissions. Click on Cortana and type media streaming options. She should give you a link right to control panel applet. Enable it.

It?s easy and quick to set up, especially on the go. Simply open the protective cover and the keyboard automatically turns on, and connects using Bluetooth. Shut the cover, and it instantly turns off.

Hi guys!
I'm currently a Lumia 640 LTE user. I'm very satisfied with this unit's performance and very impressed with windows 10 mobile despite it's occasional hiccups and persisting bugs, especially after coming from windows phone 8.1 with the Cherry Mobile Alpha Luxe. An acquaintance of mine is selling his Xiaomi Mi4 at an affordable price and although I despise the brand because of it's poor customer support (based on my personal experience with the Mipad), I'm thinking of buying it just to try out W10M on a premium hardware. My concern, however is that I am not so sure if the version of the W10M ROM available for the Mi4 is the old one or is it constantly updated and still updatable to current builds. Can anybody please shed some light on this? Thanks!

Answer:What is the latest build available for the Xiaomi mi4 on windows 10 mobile rom?

I have recently replace my 640 LTE with a Mi4 (the cheapest LTE versin, with 2Gb RAM) and goes much better, I Updated it to the last insider version in the fast ring and I'm happy with it.
Just one thing, only LTE versions of Mi4 had windows 10 ROM

Why can't Windows 10 mobile just be flashed onto Android devices? Are there any real hardware restrictions? Or is it just down to licensing? If it is just licensing, There must be a Windows Mobile fan out there that can build the necessary flashing tool.

I'm not sure but with something like this, it works best with an agreement. A good example is the Xiaomi Mi 4. There was an agreement to allow that so it happened.

I have several different android devices and until recently had no wi fi problems. My router is in the loft so i have a devolo powerline adaptor that has worked fine for several years. My broadband provider is talktalk - again i have been with them for years with no problems. Recentky i made the mistake of taking up talktalk free offer of a you view tv box. I installed this using my develo powerline adaptor. Ever since i did this my wifi network has had problems. My android devices find the network but do not acquire the ip address. If i turn my main router of and back on again all my android devices work for about half a day and then the problem reoccurs. My laptop which is a windows based machine is not affected. I have unplugged the you view box and sent it back to talktalk so everything should be back to what is was before. Both talktalk and develo say it is the others fault and nothing to do with them. Any advice would be welcome.

Sorry if I sound like a complete novice (because I am one) but the problem basically presents itself.
I have a Dell Inspiron with Windows Vista (don't ask me why) which is connected to the internet via an ethernet port (because I live in a college dorm).
So I tried to convert this into a wifi for my Samsung phone and tablet androids by making it into an adhoc connection, but they didnt register it. After much Google-ing I realised that androids don't support ad-hoc connections.
I even tried installing Connectify. But once again it created an ad-hoc connection as my laptop is Vista, which is incompatible.

I also read all this stuff about rooting your phone etc. which basically scared the hell out of me because I don't want to damage my devices and I'm afraid I might just, if I mess it up. They work absolutely fine otherwise.

So basically my question is, is there ANY way (an app, a software; no configuration required please) in which I can connect an android device to an Ethernet internet connection via Vista?

Thanks in advance. Especially to those who can explain in easy language.

My daughter has an R7, and she is having a weird problem with the USB ports on it.No android device can stay connected. As soon as you plug it, it makes the connect sound then the disconnect sound and keeps cycling between connecting and disconnecting. It is not related to the device as I have tried two different phones and one tablet all with different cables, all work fine on other computers. And I tried on the three available USB ports of the laptop, all behave the same. Searching online I found a lot of people with similar issues mostly unresolved. I did disable the USB suspend option in the power options without any results, as well as uninstall all USB hub so they would be reinstalled at boot time, and installed all optional windows updates. She is also experiencing another issue on her USB ports, we have a Samsung slim external DVD player that uses a Y USB cable for data and power that also works fine on any other machine. On her R7, when playing a Video, the video keeps making blocks at regular intervals like something is preventing the full data stream. Wondering if this is related. Apart from that, USB mouse, USB keys or external USB drives appear to work fine. Anyone with a similar issue and a definitive fix?

Solved!

Answer:Android / USB devices keep connecting and disconne...

Thanks, but I seem to have found a solution to both issues. 1) Regarding the android devices that kept disconnecting and reconnecting, after reading the thread belowhttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2900614 I checked what registry keys were present on my wife's surface pro3 forHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_XXXX&PID_XXXX\YYYY\Device Parameters and found that there was three DWORD values in there that were not present on the R7SelectiveSuspendEnabledEnhancedPowerManagementEnabledDeviceSelectiveSuspended So I added these 3 DWORD and set them all to zero (disabled), and the issue is gone. You may not need the three of them, but I have not tested them one at a time yet. 2) For the External DVD blocky playback, it turned out to be quite trivial. Someone had enabled hardware acceleration in the VLC player settings. I reset all the VLC settings, and it worked fine from there. Hope this can help others

What is a good antivirus for rooted Android devices? The antivirus and security apps I know of don't have much privilege. Is there a good antivirus app that have root access? I don't use antivirus app all the time. I install them once in a while, scan if there's some problem and after the scan is done, I delete them. So far I have never been infected with malware in my rooted device but these security apps don't have root access so I don't know how effective they actually are.
Don't recommend 360 or CM security though.

Answer:how to install windows 10 to android tablet?

This is not currently possible. Windows 10 requires an x86/x64 processor. I don't know of any Android tablets that use an x86/x64 processor, most use ARM processors which Windows 10 does not support directly.

Windows 10 for Mobile may eventually support android devices... There has been some talk of Microsoft releasing ROM's for existing android phones and tablets, but so far there has been no official announcements.

Hello fellow techies.

I keep wondering, is it possible to install Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 Preview even on an Android Stick? I'm talking about the Iconbit Toucan Stick 3D Pro.

I believe it has an A8 ARM Cortex dual core 1.0GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

Also about 4 gigs of onboard memory.

Does Ubuntu even work on this thing?

Regards!

Answer:Install Windows 8 on an Android Stick

MS is promising to deliver a simplified version of Win 10 for the ARM processor in the new Raspberry Pi. Other than that there is Win 8.x RT which supports ARM processors but not sure if it supports the one in your device.

I have an irritating problem since 16299 came out.

I have set up full shares on laptop on C, F and G partitions (F and G on separate drive)

N&S is setup up so all shares are visible etc, no passwords required, permissions set to everyone with full access rights.

If I connect to those shares from my Windows tablet, I have complete access and it all works fine.

However, when I connect to the laptop from an android device (using ES File explorer), I cannot access C drive at all, but have full access to F and G drives. Now here is the really odd thing, I can access the public folders on the C drive but nothing else.

I cannot see any reason why I cannot access the other C drive files.

With previous version 15063, everything worked fine.

I can rdp to laptop and copy files to F drive etc, but this is a PITA,

Any ideas why it should just be C drive only?

I did a virustotal check, and the website had a 1/58 detection ratio. Website security guard had flagged it as a malware site.
I checked the site on scumware.org. 10 pages had been reported in 2013 to have scrinject.gen b. The page I had clicked onto was not on the list of 10.
Is my device in danger? I scanned with mbam mobile, avg , avast, cm security, cm cleaner and others and it has been clean. Unknown source applications are turned off, device is not rooted.
And another question, if my device is in danger, could malware on it spread to pcs on the same network?
Thanks. I have no pop ups, notifications or spammy ads, but im worried about possibility of android keyloggers.

Answer:Can android devices be at risk on a potentially malicious site?

With Android you as a user have to actually install malware. It's not like Windows with self extracting apps. If you ran malware scans afterwards and did not install anything. Then you are not infected with anything known and that has definitions in the anti-malware tools you used.In other words. As long as you weren't asked to install an app while you were on the site. Then immediately after you left that site you did the scans and came up clean. I don't see a problem.

My wife and I want to start using a shared "cloud" calendar. She will access it from her Android tablet and I will do so from my Android smartphone and my Windows 8.1 PC. We both have Google accounts.
We've looked at the Google Calendar and we've synced our two accounts on it. However, although we can look at each other's separate calendar entries, we can't find any way that both of us can enter events on to one central, shared calendar, so that everything is visible simultaneously. Are we doing something wrong?
Alternatively, is there a calendar app in which (a) we can both enter events on to one central calendar, and (b) that we can look at and manage on Android devices and my PC?
I'd be very grateful for any advice or comments, please.

Answer:Best Android/PCcalendar calendar for sharing between people and devices?

My wife and I use Google calendar and, as long as we both log in to the same Google account, we can both add and delete entries.

i know from the past it was unavailable to send form diff. devices to another especally with windows phone 8 devices .. it shows the wp like a NFC tag & nothing happens ... how to use it exactly ??!??!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?z\

Answer:[Question] Is NFC sharing working for WP and Android Devices i.e: Samsung phones in 8.1.1?

I don't think you can. At least I've tried everything to make the 930 work with my Z3C and it doesn't. The 930 recognizes there's an NFC device there, but they simply don't communicate.
Sending through Bluetooth works great though.

Hello,
I'm having continued trouble automatically connecting my Android devices to my preferred home wireless network. I have an LG Optimus T Android 2.2 phone and a Samsung Galaxy tablet. Any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Note: I can connect my tablet, but only by powering down my router and then powering up again. I'm trying to avoid having to do this everytime. No luck at all connecting the Android phone to the one (out of two) preferred home network.
Thanks,

I use a Nokia Lumia 1020 as my daily driver and have been running preview builds for 3 months now. Well I got kinda bored so I purchased a cheap android device to see how different microsoft apps where on the android platform. Well once I downloaded groove on android 5.1 and signed into my account it said something about changes are being made to your library beware this affects your songs across all your Microsoft devices. What's wack is it took alot of my songs and made them unavailable. These were songs I have on an external hard drive I use with my PC. Well now the songs are fine on the PC, but those 400 songs now will not sync to my windows mobile 10. It says they are no longer part of the catalog and cannot be accessed. And they no longer show up in w10 mobile groove app.So I have to manually reload them every time I hard reset. Long story simple question, did the android groove app randomly decide which songs i bought and which ones I downloaded for free from music import apps on 8.1. Is there a setting to stop it from reading the metadata or is it some new antipiracy thing?

I have found with Windows 10 that if I make a drive or directory available for use over a lan, using standard windows shares, and then try to copy a file to or from an android device, it is very slow, and at best I get 4 Mbits/second.

However, if I use http protocols, I get 40 Mbits/s i.e. ten times as fast! This increase relies on wifi direct rather than via main router. If I go via main router, I typical get 12-15 Mbits/s which is faster than samba sharing but still quite slow.

I now use an android app called "fast file transfer" instead of tools like ES file explorer as a result.

Answer:Why is network sharing with android devices so slow using samba shares

Hi there

What's the android device you are using -- is it a phone or a tablet --- if it's a phone are you using 3g / 4g or wifi.

Decent LAN connection should give you up to 1 Gib/s (you won't get that on HDD transfer in practice but you should easily be able to do around 400 Mib/s).

If you are over Wifi then max spec at 5GHZ is around 433 Mib/s - and that's HALF duplex so I'm surprised that your LAN is slower than wifi - also LAN is FULL duplex.

Remember also copying files to / from Android devices also requires protocol conversion as Android / Linux based systems have something like FUSE in the kernel to handle read / writes to NTFS file systems.

Confused here !!!

Cheers
jimbo

Impact of Linux bug 'grinch' spans servers, workstations, Android devices and more

http://www.scmagazine.com/impact-of...s-android-devices-and-more/article/388689/2/\

A security firm has disclosed details on a grievous bug, called “grinch,” which impacts all Linux platforms potentially allowing an attacker administrative access to systems where they can go on to remotely install malicious applications, steal data, or perform other malicious acts of their choosing.

Disclosed by Alert Logic the week before Christmas, grinch has apparently earned its name, as approximately 65 percent of all web servers on the internet use a Unix/Linux based operating system, making them vulnerable to attack, the firm said in a Tuesday blog post citing a 2013 W3Tech report.

Currently, there is no patch for the bug, but Alert Logic reported the issue through RedHat and Bugzilla four months ago when it discovered the vulnerability, Coty said.

To combat the security issue, enterprises can “rewrite some administrative access” and employ security logging software to detect suspicious activity, such as administrative privileges being rewritten – “a monitoring approach, not a fix,” the firm said in initial email correspondence with SCMagazine.com.Click to expand...

Answer:Impact of Linux bug 'grinch' spans servers, workstations, Android devices and more

The "bug" only effects you if you have physical access to the box. You have to be on via keyboard to make it happen.

If you are SSHed in you can't "exploit" this "bug".

RedHat indicates this is expected behavior, not a bug.

Also why would you not allow remote access via SSH? I have been SSH'ing into my server for over a decade without issue. You don't allow root to login via SSH, but you let a regular account to log in remotely and elevate privileges as needed. I have two accounts on my server that can sudo, and that is myself and my friend that runs the ISP where the server is hosted.

Please note: This posting is just as a matter of record in case anyone has a similar issue now or in the future. Although this issue arose with a Nexus 7, I suspect similar issues (and solutions) apply to other Android devices.
To start with, I recently bought a Nexus 7 tablet. Overall a great device. As part of setting it up to my requirements I wanted to copy over a variety of files from my computer. The Nexus connects up via a supplied USB cable and appears as a device (not a disk) in Windows Explorer. MP3s and WMAs went across without a problem (just drag’n’drop in Windows Explorer), but other file types would not, with an error dialogue appearing stating “…file type is not supported on this device…” and giving the options to Skip, Skip All or Cancel.
Having researched this, I've come up with the following.
BACKGROUND
Note that this is a crude summary of a complex area just to give the flavour of the problem. It may not be technically 100%, but will give a feel for the issue.
Now, as mentioned above the Nexus does not appear as Removable USB Storage (e.g. a disk or facsimile thereof) in Windows Explorer and is not serviced using the same protocols. Instead MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) is used. With USB disks and the like Windows takes control of the device (e.g. a USB Flash drive), but with MTP Windows does not take control of the device. This is for two good reasons. Firstly the Nexus is a live computer plugged in to a USB port and... Read more

Android users are advised to use a different browser until Google patches the vulnerability.

Hackers have found a new way to hack your Android smartphone and remotely gain total control of it, even if your device is running the most up-to-date version of the Android operating system. Security researcher Guang Gong recently discovered a critical zero-day exploit in the latest version of Chrome for Android that allows an attacker to gain full administrative access to the victim's phone and works on every version of Android OS. The exploit leverages a vulnerability in JavaScript v8 engine, which comes pre-installed on almost all (Millions) modern and updated Android phones.   All the attacker needs to do is tricking a victim to visit a website that contains malicious exploit code from Chrome browser. Once the victim accessed the site, the vulnerability in Chrome is exploited to install any malware application without user interaction, allowing hackers to gain remotely full control of the victim’s phone. Also Read: This Malware Can Delete and Replace Your Entire Chrome Browser with a lookalikeChrome Zero-day Exploit leaves MILLIONS of Android devices vulnerable to Remote Hacking

Security experts have discovered a potentially catastrophic flaw that for more than a decade has made it possible for attackers to decrypt HTTPS-protected traffic passing between Android or Apple devices and hundreds of thousands or millions of websites, including AmericanExpress.com, Bloomberg.com, NSA.gov, and FBI.gov.
In recent days, a scan of more than 14 million websites that support the secure sockets layer or transport layer security protocols found that more than 36 percent of them were vulnerable to the decryption attacks. The exploit takes about seven hours to carry out and costs as little as $100 per site. The so-called FREAK attack—short for Factoring attack on RSA-EXPORT Keys—is possible when an end user with a vulnerable device—currently known to include Android smartphones, iPhones, and Macs running Apple's OS X operating system—connects to a vulnerable HTTPS-protected website. Vulnerable sites are those configured to use a weak cipher that many had presumed had been retired long ago. At the time this post was being prepared, most Windows and Linux end-user devices were not believed to be affected.
Attackers who are in a position to monitor traffic passing between vulnerable end users and servers can inject malicious packets into the flow that will cause the two parties to use a weak 512-bit encryption key while negotiating encrypted Web sessions. Attackers can then collect some of the resulting exchange and use cloud-based comput... Read more

Since Microsoft develops apps for android anyway, can't they develop some sort of virtualization so that we can run windows 10 mobile over android, this way even if other OEM's don't seem interested, least we can have variety of hardware to use. 950 doesn't cut for me, really like what other OEMs for android have and times have been compelled to just switch, but windows is holding me back.

There is a WM10 rom for the Xiaomi Mi4 and currently run with a select group of testers. I'm sure if you look hard enough you could find the rom, however I wouldn't recommend force flashing it onto other phones as you are more than likely going to brick the phone or cause irreversible damage (without messing around with the flash storage)

Hello Everyone,

I have a slightly old P4 IBM running Windows XP Home. After a fresh install from the CDs that came with it I noticed a number of devices not installed in device manager. After Right clicking and updating the drivers all of them installed as USB hubs. Any time a USB device is plugged into any USB port it shows up as an unknown device. This applies to printers, Flash drives, and any other device I could get my hands on. I found a KB article about this problem, but I did not have a Reg subkey called USB in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\. The plug and Play Service is running and I have the most recent chipset drivers installed. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you,
Welic

Yesterday, I noticed that my computer isn't able to install any new hardware.

Everytime I connect a USB device that I've never connected to my computer, windows new hardware wizard pops up saying: "Installing new software drivers", but then, another balloon pops up saying: "Device drivers couldn't be installed".

This is happening with every hardware I've never connected to the computer before!

What is happening:

- My pen works in every USB ports. I have used it since I bought my computer (this summer) and I used it in every port since then. It works just fine.

- My mouse (which I also use since I bought my computer) is working fine too, but in one port only! When I got my computer, I plugged my mouse to only one port and it installed it fine. Now, it works only in that port and if I try to connect it to another port, it won't install.

- My older mouse, which I used as well lots of times, worked fine, but only in one port too, because it was the only port it was ever connected too. I went to Device Manager and uninstalled the controler of this mouse. Once I plugged it in, in the same port it used to work, windows isn't able to install the drivers.

- My sisters pen, which I have never connected to my computer before won't work in any of the ports. Windows isn't able to install it.

Any of the new hardware is working!

Answer:Windows doesn't install new USB devices

I've looked at the screen shoots but my only language is English so I couldn't read them. If you have system restore enabled you could try restoring to a time before you noticed this problem. If it doesn't help you can always undo it and go back to the way your system is now. Another option would be to boot from your windows 7 DVD and try doing a repair. Have you installed any programs recently? Messing around with the group policy editor? If you have more than one user account see if it does it in all user accounts of just the one. does your user account has administrator privileges?

On a side not, one of the things that annoys me is when you plug a device you have already installed, into a different USB port, windows considers it a new device and wants to install the drivers again. For most items its not a big deal but when you end up with Wireless Network Connection #9 it gets old.
Thats why your mouse only works in the one port it was originally installed to. When you move it, windows is treating it as a new device but your glitch is preventing any new devices from being installed.

I had to do a fresh install of Win XP due to HAL.DLL error and my windows directory getting completly lost somehow. Im thinking it was a virus. Anyway, I did a fresh install and I cant seem to get my computer to read any drive but my main C drive. Theres 2 other drives connected. I beleive the two main drives are a RAID configuration and theres a third drive connected as a slave to the DVD-R. None of the drives show but the main drive. Any ideas?

Device Manager shows the following with a big yellow question mark next to it:

Ethernet Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
PCI Input Device
RAID Controller
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

So theres my problem. Would the motherboard software have the drivers for all/most of these? Problem is I dont think I have that software anymore. Is there a program I can use to look up the brand/model of my mobo so i can get the drivers off the site? I know its an ASUS board, just dont know the model. Thanks!

Well, I decided to do a "No-Reformat, Nondestructive Total-Rebuild Option" today. HardOCP had this on the main page a few months back, here is the link: http://www.informationweek.com/shared/printableArticle.jhtml?articleID=189400897

Unfortunately, I hang at the welcome installation screen (after the BIOS-like file copying setup) at "installing devices" with 34 minutes remaining.

I tried using another windows xp installation disc, and tried two different DVD drives, but I still hang. I do have 4 250 GB sata drives, if that matters. The windows setup had no difficulty detecting the drive with windows on it, though (nor the others), so I don't think it is a driver issue. Right now I'm going to try to disable and unplug everything I don't need, as well as disconnect the unneeded sata drives.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I can't afford to lose the info in My Docs (yeah, I should have made a backup) but I did this install specifically because it is simply a file refresh.

Thanks for any assistance.

Answer:Windows XP Install hangs at Installing Devices

A few things to try. reset bios to default value ,set the time and date, and cdrom first boot.. unplug anything usb, last, if you have any ,use a different stick of ram. My Corsair XMS raised all kinda hell durrring XP install, but runs like a champ, later. You always try the repair option on the second page of setup, where it finds previous versions of XP. I just used it to fix a porked copy of Pro after a Vista install attempt.

I had just reinstalled Windows 7 professional on my laptop (dell latitude E6440) because of some issues. Well the reinstall went thru perfectly and had no problems. But now it won't connect to the Internet and won't let me make a connection. A box keeps coming up saying "not connected-no connections are available". Then when I click on the Internet and try to set up a new connection it comes up saying "Windows did not detect any networking hardware". This kinda sucks so I was wondering if anyone could help me out and figure out how to fix this.

Good day, I recently get 2 Thinkpad R61, and I was installing Windows XP, it freeze at "Installing Devices" and never continue. I try restart the notebook / change another new Windows XP CD / disable unused devices, but still no go. But last 2 months ago, I got 1 Thinkpad R61 too, but the installation complete smoothly. I did try googling for this issue, and I found out that some users has this problem too, and they says after update the BIOS, everything works perfectly. And I check my new Thinkpad R61 notebook and discover the BIOS was version 2.24 (7KETC4WW) updated on 2008/08/15. The 2 months old Thinkpad R61 BIOS is version 2.21 (7KETC1WW) updated on 2008/07/01. Could this be the problem / or my solution? I also did try searching at Lenovo websites for updated BIOS but so far I only can find BIOS version 2.21 (7KETC1WW) released date 2008/07/01. Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 1TB SanDisk SSD for my Inspiron 5559. After removing my old hard drive and replacing it with my SSD, I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 from a USB drive. F12 boot options didn't seem to be working so I entered BIOS setup and disabled secure boot. After that I was able to select my USB drive as my boot device and install Windows 10. During setup (as is normal of course) the computer rebooted a few times. Each time I got a SupportAssist screen saying that no bootable drives were found. I managed to bypass this by pressing F12 before SupportAssist came up and selecting the HDD as the boot device. This allowed me to fully install Windows 10, however, this problem still persists and the only way for me to boot Windows is to manually specify HDD from F12 boot options every time.
I've done some searching online about this, but most people can't access their OS when they get the "no bootable drives detected" error. I tried resetting the BIOS to defaults (which renders the F12 boot option useless), enabling/disabling secure boot, legacy roms, legacy boot, the list goes on. I tried updating my drivers using Dell System Detect and it found 3 new drivers to install (wireless card, intel rapid storage, and chipset), and I tried marking my OS partition as "active" in Windows disk manager...those didn't work either.
Any ideas?

Hey everyone, Google directed me here after running into this sound problem with my new computer. I recently built myself a computer, it was my first time, everything seemed to be going pretty swimmingly too considering. Then i got service pack 2. The first restart after installing my audio was scratchy and going in and out. Then after the next restart it was dead. The drivers were still there, and according to windows, working fine, but as far as my computer is concerned, there's no sound devices. At first I thought maybe it was my sound card driver, but then i tried using my mobo's on board audio and that didn't get recognized either. Yes i made sure it was enabled in the bios. I'm really at quite a loss here. I've updated all the drivers for on board and my sound card with the newest i could find, and it just doesn't recognize it. Plugging my speakers into my onboard and using it's config program to do a sound demo puts sound into my speakers, so that part works. I need to get these devices communicating somehow and I haven't the faintest idea how. Anything short of reinstalling windows would be obviously preferred. If it helps here's my system specs:

Answer:Windows not recognizing audio devices Post SP2 install

I'm not going to tell you to update your drivers because about a million people will come in here and tell you to. but heres what you can do, make sure you take out your sound card before trying the onboard sound, sometimes a soundcard messes up onboard audio even if it is disabled.

Then if you do that and the onborad audio works then you have a faulty sound card, return it and get another, if that doesn't work then email tech support. you built your own computer so every part should have a website with a "contact us" link, even if you can't find one on your motherboard or soundcard manufacturers website you can use your CPU or HD, all companies have the same information and can help you with practically anything.

I recently installed a fresh OEM copy of Windows 7 Professional on my x61 tablet PC. I installed all the necessary drivers and had the whole thing set up perfectly. After installing the hotkey driver, I was able to enable the bluetooth capability. Initially, I tried getting my Microsoft Bluetooth Notbook Mouse 5000 to work with the computer and figured that there would be no issue since it worked fine when Vista was installed. However, the computer was never able to get the device completely working. When I tried parring the mouse, it would consistantly get an error. I eventually decided to download the latest bluetooth driver from Lenovo (7vbv05ww.exe), but the device still did not work. Previously in Device Manager, I would look under Mice and other pointing devices and I would see that there was a HID mouse device, which was the bluetooth one. Searching through forums, someone mentioned that you had to go to services.msc and have bluetooth support be set to automatic and change log on to local system account. I made the changes and it did not fix the problem. I tried restarting and attempting to try over and over to get it to work but nothing helped. I even would hit the keystroke, Fn+F5, disable the bluetooth reciever and then re-enable to see if it would pick it up and nothing different occured. I also enabled in the bluetooth settings "Allow bluetooth devices to find this computer". But now the real problem is that my laptop will not even detect... Read more

Hello all.

I installed the creators update for windows 10 and my USB hard drive stopped working, i thought nothing of it and thought it may just be the hard drive. I unplugged and uninstalled my Bluetooth headset, then it wouldnt allow me to re-install it, just kept saying "a driver has been found but there is a problem installing the device"

I rolled back to my last build and everything worked ok.

Stupidly i tried the update again, but this time, after i unplugged my mouse and keyboard to try different ports for the USB devices, they then wouldn't work when plugged back in, along with any of my other USB devices.

As i was unable to roll back (no mouse or keyboard to navigate) i have had to re-install windows 10 and im back to square one.

Anyone else experienced this? is it just a case of DONT install the creators update? any fix for it?

Thanks

Can I trouble you for your feedback on something else. Every few months I clean install the Windows operating system on my PC. Is it the same for you in that sometimes the Windows 8 setup picks up all of the devices (it usually only misses one..a Bluetooth peripheral device with a question mark. That's easily sorted by installing Wireless drivers from Dell site). Then on other occasions it'll leave the occasional exclamation mark usually listed in Other Devices but not always. That disappears when the chipsets are installed. Most of the time I never get these at all but its happened a couple of times lately. Im wondering if its caused because Im installing from Windows 8 DVD and not from a factory image.I guess really what Im asking is..Is the Windows Installation sometimes a bit hit and miss at picking up everything in Device Manager during initial setup? Sometimes theres an occasional error and other times its fine (This is on the same system with the same hardware with no changes from previous windows installations)
Thanks guys

Answer:Device Manager re:devices after Windows clean install

My guess is that you have other hardware connected during some of these installs and not at other times.

My question is, why do you reinstall every couple months? Are you bored, just for fun or is it to solve problems. I know this sounds snarky but it's a serious question.

I'm doing a Windows Phone 8.1 application. It works ok, I can try it on emulator and on my phone, because I've registered it.
Now, I have to pass the app to my client to test it (they are going to test it on multiple devices). I was looking but I didn't find any answer to this questions:
- How can I create and send them an appx that they can install on their phones?
- What kind of developer license I need?
- Do they have to register their phones with the same certificate I create the appx?
- How can they install the appx I've sent them via email for example?
Thank you very much!

Answer:How do I install an appx manually on multiple Windows Phone 8.1 devices?

You could just publish it to the beta store and register their Microsoft accounts for it, so that only they can access, download and install it.

After installing avast av (and then successfully scanning) I subsequently installed the internet security trial. After the reboot this has stopped my laptops' mousepad and keyboard from working. I have no cursor/pointer and no command prompt. I have attached a usb mouse, which works (gave me a pointer and allows input from mouse), but I still can't type and the mousepad still isn't working, so most tasks are pretty impossible. The keyboard says it is not registered (code 19) and the mouse says something like insufficient recources (code 10). Someone please help! I used to be pretty technical, but after a 10 year break from IT i'm feeling a bit inadequate!

Answer:Windows 8 - no input devices or cursor after avastAV install on laptop

If you need to log in then click on the ease of access icon bottom left and bring up the on-screen keyboard. That will allow you to input the password.
On the desktop put pointer to right corner for the charms bar. Select PC Settings. Once in PC Settings select update and recovery, then recovery. Under Advanced Start-up select restart now. Once the window is up select troubleshoot then system restore. Now hopefully as you're in the advanced set-up you'll gain back the use of the keyboard as you will have to input your password again to start system restore to before you installed Avast.
If you still can't input anything via keyboard you will have to set up a non Microsoft admin account with no password. You can still get the on-screen keyboard via the ease of access in control panel.

Mobo: Foxconn C51XEM2AA- 8EKRS2H Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2.0GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2
Gfx Cards: Dual XFX GeForce 7600GS 256MB's in SLI
Ram: Corsair XMS2 2 x 512MB 240-Pin SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
HD: Seagate Barracuda 720... Read more

Answer:Solved: Windows not recognizing audio devices Post SP2 install

If the on-board work OK, then the wrong default sound devices are selected under Control Panel - Sounds and Audio. You can only have one device selected.

I've got about 40 Senor Point of Sale tablets running Windows 7. They work just fine, but are failing to take Windows Update for Service Pack 1 (KB97632). The POS software is soon going to need this update in order for it to continue working.

I've deleted the Windows Update cache (SoftwareDistribution >> SoftwareDistribution.old) and nothing changed.

I've downloaded the update .exe and after it ran, nothing changed.

Check for Windows Updates only shows the SP1 update when I click to search online for updates, for what it's worth.

After the update has failed, I get error code 800736b3.

Apparently the billion and two solutions other people have aren't solutions for me.

Please help me!

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Solved: Bluetooth devices not working after fresh install of Windows 7 Pro

I resolved the problem. I simply ran a system restore before the installation of any bluetooth drivers and after it completed, the mouse just started working. I then installed the supported bluetooth drivers and everything is ok.

I've read it won't charge some USB Type-C phones.
There's an article about it on Android Central:
http://www.androidcentral.com/xiaomis-latest-10000mah-power-bank-offers-usb-type-c-22
It's cheap and basically the first type-C charger I've seen in my country, so it could be a good buy.
