Preferred Solution: How can i recover my device from 'BitLocker' blue screen?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So turn on bit locker because i want to start encrypting my desktop computer and when i restart i get a light blue windows 10 screen. Anyone know whats going on?

I did the full disk encryption option at once and then it wanted to reboot. Not sure if i can post a screenshot to this post but when i get home ill add it.

I cannot find any results in my searches about anyone dealing with this yet. Could it be still running the encryption on startup?

Answer:Bitlocker - light blue screen on startup

Not sure how you've enabled full-system encryption.

If you're using TPM + PIN or USB + PIN, that blue screen is where you must enter your unlock PIN.

Our organization requires Laptops to be Encrypted with a PIN #. One of our Laptops is giving me trouble. I have Bitlocker turned on and fully encrypted and have require Startup PIN with TPM in the Require additional authentication at startup in GPEDIT. I also have the Enable use of Bitlocker Authentication Requiring preboot Keyboard input on Slates enabled. When turning on the Laptop Bitlocker comes up with the light blue screen where you enter the PIN but the screen is blank. It doesn't say Bitlocker or have a box to enter the PIN #. Now I can just type the pin # and press enter and it works and loads windows as normal. I obviously can't give this Laptop to a user like this.

Anybody have any suggestions as to a resolution to this issue.
Thank You.

We have a few computers running Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 here. For some reason my machine has a black and white DOS-style unlock screen for BitLocker.

Another computer we have here has a modern-style, Windows 8 looking, light-blue & white unlock screen for BitLocker.

Why has my PC defaulted to this older looking UI? Is there any way to change it?

Answer:How To Enable Blue Bitlocker Unlock Screen At Startup

Hello Rotom, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Double check to see if the tutorial below to enable the newer Windows 8 startup screen may be able to help with this as well.

A couple of weeks ago I posed a question HERE regarding how to tell whether Windows 10 Mobile device storage was actually encrypted and if so where were the recovery keys stored. The good news, is that the device storage is indeed encrypted when turning 'Device Encryption' on. The bad news is that I still don't know where the recovery keys are stored and it can permanently lock you out of your device.

Earlier I reset a Lumia 630 running Windows 10 Mobile 10586.36 (Settings > System > About > Reset Phone) and when it restarted I was faced with a blue Bitlocker Recovery Key screen. The problem being, that it's a Desktop Bitlocker Recovery screen and as this is a mobile device it's completely useless as you can't do anything with it, it just locks you out of the device. Hard-resetting the phone (Volume Down and Power buttons) doesn't work either, it just reboots the device to the Bitlocker screen again.

All is not lost though, as it's possible to Flash the phone back to the original OS by running the 'Windows Device Recovery Tool'. When connecting the phone to the PC and running the Device Recovery Tool, the tool doesn't recognise the device though with it in it's Bitlocker Recovery state and just shows the Firmware and OS as 'Unknown'. So you then need to click on the 'My Device Was Not Detected' button and follow the on-screen prompts. After a few restarts, it will then flash the phone back to the original Windows 8 OS. Bit of a pain, but at least not to... Read more

Hi all,

I've enabled BitLocker (Win 10 Pro) on a Dell laptop Inspiron 5558 and all went well.

BUT.... When I power on the computer the familiar light blue BitLocker screen appears but there is no prompt to enter the key. Just a light blue screen, nothing else whatsoever. However, I can enter the BitLocker key (blind, of course) and then viola Windows boots up properly! So BitLocker is working.

I would normally suspect a display driver issue but the BitLocker code happens long before any device-specific display driver would load (right?). Anyone else seen this or have suggestion on what to do?

Answer:BitLocker normal light-blue screen but no unlock prompt. Still works!

Same Happening on a Windows 10 installed Dell Vostro 2520.

So I installed a program that saves any streaming audio off my soundcard. It wouldn't work because my laptop does not support it. I'm not sure if that caused the problem, but anyways a few minutes later my antivirus showed something about 'windows nt blocked' and then all of a sudden I got a blue screen saying something about my physical memory. Then it froze there. I rebooted and the blue screen keeps on coming up after the windows scroll bar thingy loads.

It looks a bit like this : http://technabob.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/bsod.gif

except on top it says problem is caused by: SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

and at the bottom it's STOP: 0x0000006F (not sure if that helps).

I call circuit city (where I have my warranty from) and they told me a few steps that I already knew. I tried to reboot pc through cd rom (i went in bios and changed it so cdrom loads first) and when I reboot the cd does not load! It goes to the screen that asks me how I want to start up (safe mode, normal, etc). It just never goes to the CD so I can't even recover it myself. Instead I have to send it in and i will get it back in 2 weeks. Anyone know any hints i'm missing? Any help would be appreciated! I'm using windows home edition.

Hi,I have been asked if I can assist someone with their laptop (Dell Latitude D520) that just permanently blue screens. They want to recover their files but I am not sure on the method of doing this. The laptop constantly blue screens and you can't get into safe mode or anything.I can't find anything specific to be honest, I have searched for a considerable amount of time on Google but can't find an answer.Am I right in saying you can connect the hard drive to a caddy and then to another machine and attempt to recover the files that way? I'm also presuming some form of data recovery software would be required?I suspect the hard drive is completely gone, but not sure if the data would be at all recoverable.Any help would be appreciated.Cheers!Aidan

Your assumption is correct, and a caddy is a good idea - have a look at the thread entitled "Documents and pictures gone missing" to get recovery ideas.

My daughter's Acer Aspire One netbook is getting the "unmountable boot volume" blue screen error. Following instructions I've found, I set the bios to default settings, which did not correct the problem. The next step is supposed to boot up with a Windows XP CD. The netbook doesn't have a CD drive, but she had an external DVD drive. So I set the boot order to start with CD drive, which didn't work, then to HDD drive, which also didn't work. When I do this, the screen stays black except for a blinking underscore cursor. I've let it go for up to 10 minutes with no change. Exactly what is the right boot setting if trying to boot up to the Windows CD via an external DVD drive? If what I did above was correct, but still didn't work, what else can I do to access the repair option off the Windows CD? Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Answer:How to recover from blue screen on a netbook?

First boot into the Setup Bios, make sure the HDD is being recognized. If not, the drive may have died. If the HDD is being recognized but still receiving the error, then change the Boot order to be USB first boot device. That should recognize your external DVD drive and the boot disc. Here get to the Recovery Console, type in FIXBOOT and hit enter. You may also have a Restore Partition on that computer. Try hitting the F11 key at boot up and it will take you to the restore partition (if it isn't damaged) here you can restore your computer to Factory Defaults, you will loose any data on the drive. You can back up your data first with an Ubuntu live CD and a flash drive.

So this Friday, my Run box, Task Manager, and System Restore features were disabled. I was advised that it must be a virus and to download SpyHunter. I did that, but no noticeable changes occurred. I was then told to go into Safe Mode, and try another virus scan. I did that, but I opened one of my chat programs to ask more from my friend. The computer then crashed. It crashed two more times. When things were resolved, my programs were acting laggy and my programs took a very long time to open.
The next day, my other friend fixed my original problems, but the choppiness still occurred. I asked many people and was told to download something called HiJacker and much more crap, but I uninstalled everything I downloaded those past two days, including SpyHunter. I was then told to Defrag my C Drive, and I did, but nothing happened. I was then told to update my driver, but then my desktop started to not respond anymore. So, I desperately tried to System Restore to a point two months ago, but still, nothing happened.
Today, I was told to remove my original virus protection program, Avast!, and then download and use something called ComboFix. I did both of those things, and that neither did anything.
So finally, I was told to do Run>MSCONFIG>go to that BOOT tab>and check something called /SAFEBOOT. The computer had to reboot itself, and ever since then, I've had the blue screen when I try to use the computer. I can get on the BIOS mode when I press F2 while it is starting u... Read more

After trying to restore windows VISTA to factory settings by using alt+f10 I'm no longer able to startup my computer. I never got into the restoring menu!

***stop: 0x0000007B, (0xf789ea98 ,0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

The PC is an Acer Aspire M5500 with windows VISTA home on it.

Also my videocard has been disabled for some time now and i was using the display output on the motherboard.

Trying to install a new videocard was the reason for me to reset to the factory settings.

Can anyone advise me on what the problem might be and how to solve it?!
Do I need a bootable recovery ISO? does anyone have this?

There are a probably a hundred reasons for your problem, but let's look at what you've done for a possible cause. If you can get into the bios, see if you can turn off either the card or MOBO display output. I think you might have both enabled. Can you explain what happened to cause your video card installation to fail?

Boot off of the XP CD Or download the Recovery Console ISO. Burn it to CD with IMGBurn and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors.
You can also download the ISO image for memtest and burn the image to a CD using IMGBurn boot off of the troubled computer with the newly created CD and run the tests with one stick of RAM in at a time for at least 7 passes each.

On switching on my laptop yesterday I was faced with a blue screen error message which even after running chkdisk keeps on appearing, even when rebooting in safe mode.

The problem is I only have Toshiba recovery disks (not an XP disk - XP was pre-installed on the laptop) and they say on them using the recovery disk wipes the computer and I need to recover data on the hard drive before reformatting.

I've taken the laptop to the local repair centre and they say they have to reformat and dont do data recovery.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

In my opinion there are two solutions. Either try to obtain WXP installations CD and see if you can repair it using WXP repair option or use delivered recovery media and make a clean OS installation. After doing this you will have ?factory setting? again and everything will be OK again.

I am new on here and am not too computer savvy, so bear with me!

My computer (of course, not this one) keeps restarting itself when it gets to the windows xp load up screen. It doesn't get past that screen then proceeds to restart itself over and over. I looked on here and there was the suggestion to run the windows xp cd and do the recovery process. The Windows website even suggested it was a problem with the kernel file (whatever that is, like I said, I dont know too much!) so I was going to repair that. Well I put in the disc, it gets me to the point where I push "R" to Recover and then a blue screen pops up and says:

Hello,
my laptop has freezed, I restart it with power button but now, at start up, BitLocker said that:

You need to enter your recovery key because Secure Boot has been disabled. Either Secure Boot must be re-enabled, or BitLocker must be suspended for Windows to start normally.

I gone to UEFI settings and define a password to re-enabled Secure Boot but BitLocker when I restart comptuer said that Bios secure parameters has changed... It doesn't solve the problem.

The problem is I don't have my recovery key. I tried to recover my recovery key using Microsoft account but I had to update my phone number and so my security settings are locked for one month. My question is :
Is it possible to boot on Ubuntu USB key or plug HDD to an Ubuntu computer, copy files and decrypt them one by one with my password session ?Is it possible to retrieve my recovery key using Windows command line and session password ? (I can access to Windows recovery menu so I have access to commands line.)Is a program to decrypt completely my hard drive exists ? I will write it on a USB key, start it, enter my session password and it will decrypt all the disk or something like that.
Thanks a lot.

Answer:How can I recover my BitLocker recovery key

What do you mean by "session password?"

Assuming you are using a TPM with BitLocker (which is the default) then there is no way to recover your drive without the recovery key. That is the entire point of BitLocker.

Hello. My R60 blue screened today with a Unmountable Boot Volume message. I've tried restarting in all possible ways, safe mode etc etc and it just reverts to the blue sceen. I've tried the Think Vantage system to rescue and recover but it isn't recognising any files or any back up to restore to. I'm plugging a USB in before I turn on the machine, following the instructions etc but it doesn't bring up any files or folders from any drive to rescue, the searches yield 0 results and then, when I try to restore it, it doesn't offer any back ups to revert to! I have definitely clicked yes many times when prompted to back up. To make matters worse, I got the computer through a company IT department and they prepped it for me so I have no discs to go with it!! It has all my photos on it and worse, all my financials and business plan info as I'm just about to start a new business. I got it in 2007 so well out of warranty. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.(I have a feeling it's very bad though!) David.

I went out and bought a 128gb 1.8" SSD for the purpose of upgrading my x301 to Win 7.  I really wanted to preserve my old XP environment on the stock 64gb. I did a fresh Win 7 Ultimate install, initially I installed the 64bit version but found my VPN software would not support it so then I wiped and installed 32 bit.  I did leave the 100mb partition that the 64bit version created. Installed Win 7 32bit, installed the lenovo software update program and let it put all of the software on the laptop.  Did the win 7 update thing (this all took the better part of a day). I wresteled the TPM chip and now have it owned by win 7.  Had to do the "hit esc" till the red win7 loader, power off, enter bios, clear keys method, but it worked.  Now Win 7 says it ownes the tpm. Trying to turn on Bitlocker doing the "key test" results in the screen on every reboot saying that something has changed.  I then turned on bitlocker, let it encrypt drive without doing the test and it completed sucessfully but every reboot asks for the recovery key. I've tried just about every "fix" I can find for this, including, changing bios boot order to only include hdd, suspending/resuming BL and a host of other things as well, updated bios.  Nothing seems to work.  I'd really like to use bit locker but not if it is not going to work right. I did come across a post that involved some policy editing then turning of/on again and have not yet trie... I believe I found the problem enabling bitlocker on my x301.  I tried just about every possible thing I could find on the internet and was unable to get it enabled.  Every time on the next boot I would get the message (pre windows), from the bios that the environment had been changed and bitlocker would fail to encrypt the drive.  If I encrypted the drive without the bitlocker test it would encrypt but every boot would make me enter they recovery key in order to boot. Last night I found a post that indicated that bitlocker would make a 300 meg partition (100 for itself, 200 for oem utilities).  That got me thinking.  Today I decided to shrink my system partition and leave some unpartitioned space on the drive in case it was trying to make this partition.  That's when things changed.  Suddenly bitlocker started working properly.  I still only see the 100 meg windows partition, but maybe there is another hidden partition that it was unable to create because I had given all the space to my system drive.  I left 500 megs unpartitioned, enabled bitlocker and it's working fine.  For me, problem solved.  Hope this helps someone.  One nice thing about Win7 is that it allows you to shrink/expand volumns right from disk management so no playing around with PE boot disks.

I've tried just about every "fix" I can find for this, including, changing bios boot order to only include hdd, suspending/resuming BL and a host of other things as well, bios updated. Nothing seems to work. I'd really like to use bit locker but not if it is not going to work right.

I did come across a post that involved some policy editing then turning of/on again and have not yet tried that.

Just wonderin... Read more

To install another operating system, I forced to resize my partitions.
I had a drive that was encrypted with bitlocker. After changing the drive and restart I noticed there were only two of the drives that on them Windows installed and another drives changed to free space.
Bitlocker encrypted drive was 100G and another drive 244G. Drives I converted to a drive then format it to restore my data. All the information was not encrypted, was returned but encrypted data was not returned even one bit. I changed the size of D to 200 GB again and after a lot of searching I found the repair-bde command.

this was result.
is there any solution to back my data?

Hello Dears. I had encrypted my drive by Bitlocker in windows 7.
few days after my friend did quick format in my encrypted drive.
my 300 gb of data lost. and nothing saved
i remember unlock password.
how can i recover my data ??? i need my data
i tried drive recovering tools (advanced EFS data recovery, easeus . . ,) . but . . . it's encrypted and formatted drive.
can i undo quick format and decrypt ???
sorry my english is not good.
someone help me please.

Answer:Can i recover lost data from encrypted drive by Bitlocker

BitLocker is not the cause of failed to recover files.Format a drive will clear all data saved on the hard disk. Thus recovery formatted data will be a hard disk based technology but not related to operation system. There is no build-in data recovery feature in Windows operations. So we will needto use third party recovery tool or contact third party data recovery company for current issue.

As recovery missing data service will be expensive, we can also check emails and contact friends to see if that can help get a part of files back especially for photos, documents etc.

Have a look whether you have a restore point from before you did the encryption. Maybe you can get the files from there. See here how:

Hello,
I accidently formatted one of my drives which was previously encrypted.
I tried some third party software as "recover my file" but it didn't work.
Later then, I experimented on a formatted (not encrypted before) usb drive to recover files by same software and it did work.
After that, I encrypted the usb drive and then formatted it. Then I tried to recover by same software, but it didn't work. So, it's apparent that it is not possible to recover from a encrypted and formatted drive by a usual recovery software. Is there any
other method that can help me.
Please inform, I'm in a dire need.
Thanks.

I have a Sony Vaio that runs Vista 64. Today I tried to plug in a USB printer and got the Blue Screen crash dump. I then tried pluggin in a USB mouse in the same port and got the same thing. I tried different USB ports with both, and still got the blue screen. Just yesterday I used the printer and mouse on this computer with no issues. Help!!!

Answer:Blue Screen when plugging in USB device

You may be a victim of this update; if you have it just uninstall it >>

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973879/#knownissue
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to c:\windows\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder. *this assumes 'c' is your boot drive, if it is not, subsitute accordingly
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a non Microsoft driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

If you do not see any minidumps, be sure you are not using any cache cleaner such as CCleaner. Also run sysdm.cpl and select Advanced > Startup and Recovery. Make sure "small memory dump" is the one chosen under "write debugging information" and the location should be %systemroot%\minidump

Hi,

For some reason the collection application did not pick up any BSOD minidumps (it does this occasionally). Can you check C:\Windows\Minidump and upload anything you find there.

If there is nothing there then can you check the settings mentioned in this post to see if your system is set up correctly to collect dump files when it Blue Screens.

From the event logs I can see that you have had the following BSODs.

Answer:blue screen: no bootable device

If you're using an old HDD with a new motherboard then you will get problems as the chipsets of the old motherboard and the new will not get along at all. The problems this can cause are many and various so I would recommend a format of the old drive anyways and this will resolve your problem.

Hi!
I am running Windows 7 Enterprise with Bitlocker.
Unfortunately I ran into problems booting up and eventually it looked like the harddrive (SSD) was malfunctioning. My backup solution was fresh so I haven't given it much thought, just replaced the drive, but I would still like to know if it's possible to
recover data from the drive while it's encrypted with Bitlocker?
I have searched the net for info but none of them seem to focus on my problem; the drive itself shows no volume information, so I'm unable to run any decryption protocols on it. Therefore I'm unable to run any recovery software on it either.
I'm afraid I might've made the situation worse with my attempts at recovery, but still, any help is appreciated!

Best Regards,
Heini

Answer:help! a blue screen appear. it said - inaccessible boot device

Hi akshaymilner,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

This seems to be an HDD Problem,
   You can try these,

Remove all USB Devices.

Can you try Turning ON the computer and start tapping F2, This should boot the system into BIOS Mode,
While in BIOS Press the F9 Key to load defaults now Press F10 to Save and Exit. See if it will boot now,

If Not, Go to BIOS again and look under Information TAB and check if the HDD / Hard disk is detected.

If not listed, You might need to call Lenovo Technical Assistanc for HDD Issue.

If Listed you might want to try The One key REcovery.
Turn off the computer and press the OKR Button to load Factory default, (Data loss )

My desktop computer was struck by lightning last month and every since then, it's been on a blue screen loop whenever I start up the computer. It gives me the Inaccessible Boot Device error. None of the troubleshooting solutions work (system restore, system image recovery, system repair, UEFI firmware settings, go back to the previous version) nothing works. The drive is fried. The drive was even switched from C: to X:

I was told by tech support that it's not damaged severely because it's still able to turn on and boot up. but I would need to reinstall windows completely. They offered to sell me the recovery disk but I am looking for another option.

I have downloaded Windows 10 to my flash drive and tried to boot Windows that way but when I got to the stage "Where do you want to install Windows?". I went to HP's website to download the storage drivers for my desktop on my flash drive thinking that would do the trick but that did not help.

Answer:Inaccessible Boot Device - Blue Screen

You appear to actually have a HP 251-a123w Desktop PC (N0B07AA).
It was introduced in September 2015 in the U.S.A. and came with Windows 10 Home 64-bit.
What's the exact serial number and product number on yours?

If you go HERE and follow the instructions, you can purchase a USB recovery media kit for it.
Using it will revert that desktop back to its original new condition, along with all the drivers, programs, etc. that came in it.

If you go HERE, you can download the Media Creation Tool, then use it to download Windows 10 Home 64-bit, then create a bootable USB thumb drive or bootable DVD.
Using it will install Windows 10 Home 64-bit, but you then will need to install the needed drivers and programs afterwards.

You admit to not being computer-knowledgeable, so you'll probably need someone who is to help you.

The problem is very interesting. It happens several time instead of every time. When I am trying to use USB device to transfer files from other computer. Sometimes it shows that "the USB device cannot be recognized, please blablabla". Once this information appears. whatever USB things I use to insert, the laptop has no reaction. And when I try to shutdown or restart, the "Restarting" will keep rowing like 3~5 mins and then it turns to blue screen. The "Power state failure" error. Today it appears three times cuz I want to root my nexus 4. However, every time my phone reboot with connecting laptop. It will shows the error. I use the hardware scanner provided by the dell computer. And the result shows everything is fine. Here is one of the dump files says.

Hi,
please help
how can I recover data from a damaged disk (not physically) of an external encrypted Bitlocer.
Description of the situation:

After connecting the drive - I can decipher it by typing the password - but when you try to open the contents of the report the message "format disk"
- the disk probably has some volume damaged - it has been disconnected from the computer (without being turned off)
What I have done so far:

Using the "Lazesoft" program - I managed to copy (of course after entering the password
on the damaged disk)
the content to another external disk (full - looking after size) but -
this data is encrypted (mainly ending with .ER)
I am asking for a hint:

The boot up on the Asus start up page takes a lot longer (10 secs instead of the usual 2 secs)

Maxtor Powermax 4.23 ran. Passed install confirmation, basic test and advanced test.

Whenever I plug in my elgato HD capture device my pc goes to a blue screen. So what happens is I plug my elgato into my computer and open up the elgato software (Game capture HD) And it initializes (I think that is how you spell it) the elgato and 5 seconds later it will crash... I tried to re-install the drivers and the Game capture HD Software but it still does the same thing. Here is a link to a video of my screen when it crashes -

I have a Z50-75 Signature Edition laptop from the Microsoft Store. I have upgraded it to 16gigs RAM and 1TB SSD both Crucial. I installed Windows 10 Pro and when I am playing World of Warcraft on this laptop intermittently it will get the thread stuck in device driver error. When I went to upgrade the hard drive to the SSD in the BIOS I had to change the SATA type to compatible for the drive to work. Things I have tried so far.1. Fully uninstalled the video device and driver software in device manager and add remove programs.2. Tried just installing the driver from Microsoft.3. Tried just installing from Lenovo.4. Tried the drivers from AMD. Each time doing a full uninstall of the device and software then rebooting. I guess my question is this a video driver issue or could it be another driver that is causing this issue. If it could be another driver then how can I find out what driver is causing the issue? Here is what my event viewer had on the error. The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x000000ea (0xffff9d0adfa6f080, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: de41580c-212b-4eba-8d0e-67f469f38e63. Any help would be appriciated. Thank you.

I've had this computer (ThinkPad R60e, WinXP Home SP3, 1.83 GHz 1 GB RAM) for years and its never had this kind of problem before: whenever I insert anything (thumb drive, camera, iPod) into the a USB port the computer goes into a blue screen of death saying "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" and "STOP: 0x00000050". I've noticed that with certain things like my external harddrive, it works fine if its plugged in while the computer boots, but not if inserted while its already active. I'm really not sure at all what could be causing this, I haven't changed anything drastically about the computer in quite a while. The only thing I can think of is my antivirus program (McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i) just recently found a trojan and I then did a full scan to get rid of it completely. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks!

P.S. I've search the forums already and it seems a few people have had this problem (like http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/437651-blue-screen-usb.html), but I don't see that anyone has really solved it.

Blue screen error caused by a device or driver

You received this message because a hardware device, its driver, or related software has caused a blue screen error. This type of error means the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from potential data corruption or loss. In this case, we were unable to detect the specific device or driver that caused the problem.
Okay iam running windows xp....ive been having problems with my pc forever and i can never seem to work out if its bad ram or a memory issue. Anytime my pc is running for a long period of time it seems to hang and give me the blue screen, if i try to run a media program or burn a cd or anything along those lines it hangs also....What could this problem be? do i need to let someone look into my system or can it be resolved at all.

Ive had every error msg i believe...it seems to always tell me its a device error when it hangs or when i reboot it gives me that msg and then reports the problem..

Any help would be gratful...by the way ive run scans and all sorts, theirs no virus or anything, i run a and anti virus program by AVG.

cheers.

Have a Lenovo H50-55. Clean Install Windows 10 64-bit. I used Lenovo Companion to install all updates. Have everything up to date including the latest Chip and Video drivers. I am using the newest Raedon Crimison ReLive and i am getting every once in a while a Blue Screen of Death with Device Stuck in Driver. I searched up and i am finding that it has to do with the Raedon software or the chipset driver. So i unistalled everything. Now. Listen. When i bought the computer it came pre-installed with software including the AMD Catalyst (NOT the Crimison!) I would like to re-install that version of Catalyst into my computer. I would appreiate it tons if someone could tell me what verison that was and the chipset driver for it and where i can find it. I want the EXACT same one. I want that version because i didn't suffer BSoDs with that software. Also. It's a bummer that i can't get a recovery disc or a chance to download the recovery software on to a USB. That sucks awfully. If anyone can please help me. Anyone have the pre-installed software? Can someone point me out to the versions? ------------ Also a question about the Lenovo Companion. I noticed that when i updated my computer using the application it installed a AMD Chipset Driver version 9.0.000.6. FOR the life of me i can't find anything on the web about that driver. It also installed an AMD folder that included tons of files and a file called AMD Install Manager. I click it. I... Read more

Or at least can someone tell me what version of catyalst goes with that chipset driver version 9.0.000.6? Please i beg you! Those BSoDs are annoying. I don't care if i am not up to date with the latest software. I want stabilitly over unstability. I play Minecraft and Skyrim in medium settings anyways and just surf Youtube. That's all. I don't play demanding up to date games.

Hi there,

This is my first post in the forum. It is nice to meet you all

I have crashed twice in last two days with the BSOD. My computer is a three week old Dell Dimension 9150 Pentium D dual core processor with 1 gig ram.

The two BSOD messages were different. The first started RQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the message if this is the first time restart the computer, + a few suggestions from disabling bios memory options like caching or shadowing (that I didn't know how to do). The technical information was:-**STOP:0X0000000A (0x00650065, 0x0000001C, 0x00000000, 0x8050177F
Beginning dump of physical memory, physical memory dump complete.

Microsoft online crash analysis came back with - Error caused by a device driver, but there was no indication of which. No device driver showed in the BSOD. I looked in the system hardware and there were no exclamation marks or no other equipment etc.

The next day the same thing happened again, only this time there was an indication where the device driver problem was:-

The message this time was - **STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBF80D2F1, 0xF7721778, 0x00000000

** Win32k.sys - Address BF80D2F1 base at BF800000, Datestamp 43446a58

I had a looked at the system event log and application log but nothing out of the ordinary was logged at the exact time of the crash. There were errors there mostly to do with Fax machine which I never have installed

I did a search for Win32k.sys (inc hidden files and folders) and ca... Read more

I am encountering frequent 'blue screen' reboots on my Windows XP SP2 System. Upon reboot, I get an online crash diagnosis indicating that I have a problem with an 'unknown' device driver. Any ideas on how I can diagnose and correct this problem?

Answer:Blue Screen Reboot due to unknown device driver problem

need to get more info. there should be a list of hex (00E000BF) blah de blah that would be helpful in diagnosing it. Also, a few things:

1. have you added/removed any hard/software recently?
2. how long has this been going on?
3. Does the blue screen stay up long enough to read? If not, right click my computer, go to advanced, startup and recovery, and make sure that the 'auto reboot' is unticked'.
4. How far in the reboot can you get? Can you get past POST? BIOS? Can you get all the way to windows?

the more ammo, the more likely someone here can kill this problem, to coin an analogy.

I keep on getting blue screen crashes and when I try to boot my computer
It says please select proper boot device, I called gateway tech support because
I have a gateway desktop and they guided me through restoring the computer
To factory defaults everything worked and it booted up properly and then it started
Automaticay updating and such, as windows 7 would then all of a sudden another
Blue screen crash hit me and it restarted the computer and the "Please select proper boot device"
Error message appeared again I called techsupport once again and they said they could helpme because
There's a problem with my operating system and it would cost 99 dollars for that one problem
Please help me!

Answer:Blue screen crashes, please choose proper boot device

This sounds very much like a problem with the hard drive.

Can you get it to boot into Windows at any time or is it permanently showing this error.

Do you have another PC with a CD burner that you can use and a blank CD or Flash Drive?

Hi All
I have strange problem my graphic card went missing and its not detected by windows 7 64Bit Home Premium whole display adaptors tree is missing from device manager. Strangely system was still working crashing with blue screens often after windows loaded. I thought it could be graphic card problem so I replaced it with new graphic card but problem persists. Reinstalling graphic card drivers is not helping because system is not finding compatible devices.
I even updated bios as well.

My System is Intel Core Duo e7400
Windows 7 64bit Home premium 5gig ram
PALIT GTX 460 SONIC 1024MB GDDR5
Mother board GA-EP45-DS3L
Power Supply OCZ Fatality 550W

Event reports in attachment

Ive enabled Small Memory Dumps but Im currently using this pc to write this display tree in device manager still missing.

All help much appreciated!

Hey there. I'm having trouble unlocking my external flash drive which was encrypted by me a few months back. It was encrypted using my desktop PC which is not working anymore. I'm trying to unlock it using my laptop.
The problem is, I am entering the correct password but it's marking it as incorrect. I am sure about the password because I had stored it in my phone.

I have a .pfx certificate as well but I really don't know how will it be helpful in unlocking the device. I had saved this .pfx file because while the process of encryption, windows had advised me to save it. Any help will be appreciated. I really need to unlock
this device as the data it contains is irreplaceable.

Regards,
Hannan.

Hi all: I deactivated my mobo's video card (4600) via devicee manager, because I thought my primary video card (GeForce 7xxx) would take over. However, I apparently made a dire mistake. Now my computer has stopped working---boots to a blue screen. How can I boot up using my 4600 video card again...or fix my problem.  Thanks, Wyatt

Hello there

So I'm experiencing strange BitLocker behaviour. I have this PC at work. Clean Windows 8 x64 installation, 3 HDD (AHCI), no SSD.

After I set up BitLocker to encrypt "C" partition, it gave me pop-up window, that I should restart PC to test the BitLocker loader. So I clicked Yes. And after few seconds I got this:

JPG IMAGE - http://www.eightforums.com/attachments/f1/f2/22871d1370880908t-very-strange-bitlocker-enter-password-startup-screen-5jkippr.jpg

Mind, I'm still ABLE TO type password (i can't see sh** though), after I hit enter Windows IS booting, but it's really weird to see above picture instead of:

My GFX is OK, I tested it with games, benchmarks etc.
BitLocker simply cannot, for whatever reason, use my video card properly and displays those weird lines. After all - it hasn't loaded the whole Windows yet. Than again, it IS a bit strange, as Windows installers tend to work fine.

Any thoughts people?

Kind Regards

Bart

I am trying to create a Windows 10 image for my organization, and cannot figure out one particular issue with Bitlocker. It seems that after I sysprep, and throw the image on a new computer, it then has BitLocker partially enabled. What I mean is that when going to the About page in System in the settings it shows in red "You need a Microsoft account to finish encrypting this device". The C: drive also shows an opened lock with a warning icon (exclamation point in a triangle).

When going to the Manage Bitlocker page is shows an option to turn on bitlocker. Searching various sites on google has led me to the idea of turning on bitlocker, then turning it off again before sysprep. This does in fact disable BitLocker, however it appears to turn on again after imaging on a new computer.

While it's not a huge pain to disable BitLocker afterwards it does take several minutes to decrypt and multiplied that by many computers does eat up a bit of time in the end. Is there something I'm missing here to make sure BitLocker remains disabled after imaging? These are generally on Microsoft Surface Pro 4 computers that this happens on, it did not do the same thing on an HP laptop I tested.

Answer:Bitlocker Device Encryption enabled after imaging

Hi,
I have a weird issue regarding Bitlocker and the TPM on Latitude e7470s running Windows 7 Ent.  I've had three laptops trigger Bitlocker on boot, we enter the key and boot into Windows 7 Ent.  We goto Bitlocker Drive Encryption Management to Suspend/Resume to reset and I receive an error message that a compatible TPM Module cannot be found.  When looking in Device Manager the TPM is gone.
We start with a base Win 7 Ent image, and then I use Dell Command Update to install the drivers, including the Broadcom TPM Driver.  In my research I've read that if you don't have an entry for the TPM under "Security" then it might be listed under System.  It is not listed under System unless there is a code name for the module.  I've also read that you should use the Microsoft Drivers for the TPM and not the manufacturer's drivers, is that a true statement?
We use Latitude 7440's, 7450s, and 7470s in our environment.  The issue is isolated to the 7470's only.
Has anyone else encountered this "disappearing TPM" issue before?
Thanks for all of your help.

Answer:Latitude e7470, Bitlocker triggered, TPM gone from Device Manager

Thank you for posting.
If you haven't tried it already please update the BIOS to 1.5.3 or higher and check to see if the problem continues.  You may download 1.5.3 here.
Please let me know if this corrects the issue.

I received a 2 gb olympus sound recorder which I was asked to restore to normal fuctionality, and restore some mp3s that were presumably recorded on it.

The file system appears to be intact, so I can read from it, but there are two noticeable changes to the device.
First, it seems to have been infected with a version of the RECYCLER virus, which turned all the folders into links which point to the virus itself.
One of those folders are thought to contain the mp3 file in question.
Second, the device seems to have been bitlocker enabled, but it does not need any encryption key.

Now, I don't know, in what order did these events happened; I only need a confirmation, that no data can be recovered once deleted, either before or after bitlocker is enabled.

Answer:Can deleted files be recovered on a bitlocker enabled device?

there's a chance you can recover the mp3s
you need to rely on professional file recovery tool to get them back. A popular one is Asoftech Recovery. This tool can deep scan your computer and recover your lost files back without requiring extra skills. Here is the steps might be helpful to you:
1. Download this program on your compute. here is the link: Photo Recovery: Restore your lost photo
2. Install and start the program, select the drive where your lost files located, click Start. Now the scanning process will start to search the deleted files. After a while you will then get a list of recoverable files.
3. Press Recover to perform full recovery.
hope this helps..cause the files are infected too.

How can I move a file from a bitlocker drive to a drive without encryption.
Bitlocker does not decrypt files when moving file from hard drive to another device.
Computer (1) with bitlocker.  Computer (2) without bitlocker
When I move a file from Computer (1) to Computer (2) the file is not accessible on Computer (2).  I moved the file via an unencrypted USB.  The file is not being decrypted when it is moved to the USB.
I can remove the decryption one file at a time by going to properties and advanced attributes by unchecking the "Encrpyt contents to secure data".  I have not found a way to have bitlocker to properly decrypt as the file or multiple files
are moved to another device.
This is happened before and after a motherboard replacement that required a new encryption.

At first, I don't need to recover my data, I just want my drive back to re-use it.
How can a format my usb drive including all boot sectors which sees to be locked/write-protected by bitlocker?

My problem starts with decrypting my drive by deactivting bitlocker on it by entering the valid password/recovery key. At 36% of decryption the process halts without reason. Now, I'm unable to access my drive or resume the process.

I tried...
    ...to format with windows
   ..remove with diskmgmt
   ... remove with diskpart
   ... repair-bde
   ... manage-bde
   ... ubuntu live cd
... mass production tool software, to override the whole stick

nothing worked. The only thing which worked was once the software M3 Bitlocker recovery Free, but just one time to access the locked partition. But, as mentioned I don't need to recover my data. With that tool I'm not able to wipe the drive.

That Bitlocker protects my data till the end is good, but that it breaks my data and my hardware in such a case is not fair.
How can I break the write-protection mode to finally wipe the hard drive?

My pc was running fine when it just started beeping like a warning klaxon. Rebooting didn't help, but rebooting into safe mode then normal mode did. Then 1 hour later while running spysweeper, I stopped the scan early because it was taking too long. It detected 1 adware and 1 trojan, but the log said the trojan (ruin) could not be quarantined and some threat was still in memory, despite a problem free pc except for the beeping which I thot was resolved. After exiting spysweeper, my pc locked up and could not be turned off manually, so I unplugged the cord in back. Then I got a blue screen after it tried rebooting. The bootup started normally, but then a blue screen read as follows, more or less-If this is the first time you are seeing this message reboot your pc. Otherwise check for viruses, remove any new hard drives or hard drive controllers. or refer to your startup manual. I can't even boot in safe mode. I am running win2000 on a pIII 933 mhz at 256mb ram w/ a cable modem. Can anyone help? TYVM.

Answer:not booting-blue screen, "boot device inaccesible"

Get the drive diagnostics for your hard drive model from the manufacturers web site and test that first. The constant beeping may also be a BIOS warning of either a boot sector virus or a thermal warning. Open the case and make sure all of the fans are running including the power supply fan.

Question One! ~~~ I have a USB to XLR studio microphone converter, the Blue Icicle that's not working correctly anymore! Very odd. It worked before, than I reformatted my entire computer and it had stopped working. I have not tried the device on another computer yet. I updated my BIOS to latest version, installed for the most part important drivers. The Blue Icicle is not supposed to have any downloaded or installed drivers besides it's basic ones. When I try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers from device manager, but to no avail.

The Blue Icicle+AT2020 XLR Mic doesn't appear at all!

Uninstalling from device manager and re-plugging in the Blue Icicle still leads to trouble, saying the installation failed. I also tried download the device drivers of USB Multi-Channel Audio Device from CNET, yet to NO FIX.

Question Two! ~~~ I am still confused on how to install certain drivers on my desktop aswell, that you usually install on a motherboard's manufacturer website that doesn't have a setup or install, but usually contain only .txt and .bat files. I'm not dumb when it comes to computers but this has me stumped for hours now.

I am just hoping with someone who has had similar problems with their computers to be able to aid me. I'm not sure if this information will be of any aid but this is my current motherboard
