Preferred Solution: Can sims freeplay windows users, be neighbors with andriod users?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You have to have an Xbox live account and add them from there. You can find users wanting to be added by searching the forum Sims FreePlay (add me) section.

User 1 logs in and works does whatever... Doesn't log out but screensaver goes back to user screen.

User 2 logs in (switching users - not logging out user 1) and gets to work.

Sometime later (ie. not right away) and not at a prescribed time, the network stops working.

I try to disable / enable the network adapter and the machine freezes.   Reboot fixes problem.

If user 1 or user 2 is the only one logged in then never a problem.

Anyone heard of this?
Thanks for any help!

Answer:Multiple Windows 7 Users-Switch between Users-network stops working

When switching users, it's always a good idea to have User 1 close out any applications and documents they have open and then log out before User 2 logs in. It sounds like you have fast user switching enabled, but I'm not aware of that causing any network issues -- unless User 1 was doing something that required a network connect.

Check the Event Viewer for error logs from the time it froze when you tried to disable and enable the network adapter. Post the event ID and description here if you need help diagnosing the issue from the log files. Perhaps another fix is to disable fast user switching, so that users are always forced to log out before someone else can log in.

hi guys,

really need some help on this one cause i cant seem to get how something that sounds so simple is so hard to do.

i got a client with a workstation that has a local user account on it.
they also have a domain which he has another account on there.

so i have local account joe1 and domain account joe2. now i need to get joe 1 to combind and merge outlook and my docs with joe2. and then get joe2 to stay on the server so that it remains a account that can be accesses on any computer on the domain network. with this in mind the user profile needs to be saved on the server and the profile can be copied to the computer that his sitting at when he loggs on.

anyway i can figure out how to move the local (joe1) account to the server (joe2)i have tried a command moveuser but i keep getting a parameter error on there (error 87) .

i typed it like this

moveuser joe1 (company doamin)\joe2 /c:\\(client machine)

please can anyone help me one this

Answer:migrating local users on xp to domain users on a windows 2003 server.

prob best n easiest way to do it would be to FAST the local profile to the server then log in with the domain profile and FAST it back

I am a Media Center user and in my home its my only computer.
I use Win7 for Work and Taking Care of Stuff for the Home...

But after I cut the cord and go to Antenna I am just at the range where
TV Signals arent stable unless I install a 50foot tower and a really large antenna.
But even so I will want to record everything that way when 2 shows conflict during primetime
I will have it to watch when Jerry Springer or Judge Judy is on.
I will also have everything I have recorded off of Cable and I will be Legal
meaning watching torrents won't get my internet shut off
Which means my Phone would also get cut off along with my ability to make money as

Streaming might be the solution for some people but it comes with a cost.
Either you are paying for services that add up to a higher cost than your cable or dish packages.
You are forced to resort to illegal torrents or sites.
or you end up paying higher costs for internet because it takes a ton of bandwidth to stream HD 1080p to the living room, kids room, parents .. whatever all at the same time ..
That free Gigabit Google ain't no where to be seen... so you will be buying 100-200Mbit plans so you can keep your TV, Phone, Alarm / Video Surveillance online at the same time and still surf the web and update your android apps on your cell...

I used this app a while ago to watch and record IPTV on Windows Media Center. But I think they can do it with other sources too. The latest version can record TV server side so you don't need a Windows Media Center anymore. And now I use Plex server for all of my Video stuff instead of Windows Media Center.
It's really a shame MS stopped so many successful apps.

Hey Guys,

If you are using Kaspersky on Windows XP, and your Blue Shift is not working, I may have a solution for you. If you go into Kapersky, go to My Security Zone and then application activity. Go to Category and then click all. Scroll down until you find everything to do with Blue Shift ( Half Life Launcher, installation etc). Right click on each of these and change the status to Trusted. The game should work now. I hope this helps I've had the problem for a while and it was driving me nuts. I'd also like to thank the user "fragger" for giving me the idea to look at Kaspersky. If your reading this, hope it helps you out buddy.

Can anyone help me regain Security Permissions to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data Folder which I lost while looking at the access rights. I mistakenly closed the box while playing with the access rights and lost any access to the file.
I pulled the access rights to the file using icacls they are below.

application data
D:PAI(D;OICI;FA;;;WD)(A;;0x1200a9;;;WD)(A;OICI;FA;;;SY)(A;OICI;FA;;;BA)S:AI

I am thinking I can change the information in the file and restore it. Not sure exactly what to change?

I was also thinking I could pull the info from another computer running with the same operating system and reapply them to this file? Would this work?

I looked at Previous Versions of the upper level folder. Can I restore a previous version of this whole folder? Will it restore the Application Data folder with the prior permissions?

Answer:Lost Access Permissions to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data Folder

Are you asking about the Application Data or Appdata folder?

If Application Data, this is not a real folder but a junction used to allow interface with legacy programs. No access is necessary since it is pointing to the Appdata folder.

working with vista homeprem sp2 32bit here. ran a quick avast scan a few minutes ago, it caught some small-time junk in the temporary internet files (which were purged easily enough), but it also pointed out C:\users\all users as "the system cannot find the path specified". so I open up windows explorer and try to go there. cue the "refers to a location that is unavailable" error message. now, I don't usually need to prod around in there so I'm not familiar with what normally happens, but I know vista loves to have a bunch of directories displayed that are shortcuts it uses for people who leave "hide protected OS files" checked (I don't, I want to see what's where) which really ought to not be shown when you're not hiding stuff but I digress, that's for MS to be groused at after win8 flops.

SO. should I panic that I've had another thing sneak past the security screens (mvp hosts file, spyware blaster, avast's shields, mbam scans)? nothing else seems out of sorts, but one man's paranoia is another man's preparation, and all.

Answer:C:\Users\All Users refers to a location that is unavailable *error message*

This is normal. All users folder points to c:\programdata folder. These are called symbolic links.

I don't remember when, but I availed myself of the free Windows 10 upgrade sometime back. I was using 8.1 and I had, at some point, moved C:\Users and all its associated folders to E:. Everything has worked fine and Win10 didn't have a problem. I did notice that there was still a C:\Users, but the only folder it contains is Administrator.

This was probably not a good move to make. Moving data folders, like Pictures, Documents, etc., is fine, but moving the actual User Profiles was not such a good idea. My E: drive is no longer large enough to hold all my photos and other data. I bought a replacement drive large enough, but having my Users Profiles on E: is now a problem and I want to move them back to C:, only without the data folders.

I can delete all the existing data files from those default folders (I have backed them all up), so now I need to find a way to restore the Users folder and contents to C:. I've tried researching the problem, but found nothing that specifically applies to my situation. The TenForums article, "Relocating Users folder on an existing Windows installation" Seems to be as close as I can get. Unfortunately, this part has made me take pause and ask you all for help:

Answer:Restore Users Profiles back to C:\Users without data folders

Jim McClain said:

Do you know what I should do? Maybe Kari's still around and can reply? Any guidance would be appreciated.

If you used the Sysprep method to relocate the Users folder to E: drive, you can use the same method to relocate it back to C: drive. The warning you quoted is when doing this in a clean install, it does not apply when moving Users folder back to C: drive which will always be accepted and OK for Windows.

Follow these simple steps (looks more complicated than it in reality is!):

Create a new, temporary local user account, name it as you wish like "Dummy" or such (tutorial)Change Dummy's account type to administrator (tutorial)Sign out from all other user accounts, sign in to DummyDisable all other user accounts except Dummy, the one you are currently signed in (tutorial). No worries, accounts and their data will remain intact, deactivating (disabling) them temporarily is done because sometimes Sysprep causes existing user accounts to lose Start and Search / Cortana functionality. When we are ready we will again activate (enable) all old user accountsWhen done, open an elevated Notepad (right click and select Run as Administrator) copy the following code and paste it to a new text document]:

Code:

Hi everyone,

I am the web masters of a local snowmobile club and our new website is having a few problems with printing. Please take a look at the site, http://www.strathroysnoblizzards.com/Strathroy_Sno-Blizzards/index.html

As you can see it has a black background which when printed on my Mac OS X has no problems with printing (it leaves out black background and keeps the text and images) and prints everything.

The problem is that one of our members are ticked that they can not print the site because of the black showing up above the text and images and I really don't want to change the background because it look good the way it is, so is there any way to change to printer settings or some ideas for him to help him out with this problem.

Second problem is that out of 4 pages, 2 are blank with nothing on it and there is suppose to be text and images on those pages, anyway how to fix this too?

Thanks Guys

Answer:Website printing??? (backgrounds causing problems with PC users but not Mac users)

I only have one suggestion. Do they have this unchecked?
Print background colors and images.

IE->Tools->Internet Options->Advance Tab-> scroll down
to the Printing headline. Make sure it is unchecked.

How can I setup 2 networks so that my wireless users can't access wired users?

All of my computers are wired... but, I would like to give my retired neighbor (he's 64 years old) wireless access. But, I don't want him or anyone else access to my shared files b/w desktop/laptop. So, should I put it on a different subnet? Do I need a 2nd router? Right now, I have the BEFSR41 with a WAP11 AP on 192.168.1.245 with the router on 192.168.1.1 (both are 255.255.255.0 subnet).

Thanks!

Answer:How can I setup 2 networks so that my wireless users can't access wired users?

I would setup a DMZ, you can do this by using two physical routers or something like smooth wall with multiple nics. If I were you I would setup smooth wall on a crap old box and install 3 network cards into the old computer. Hooking your cable modem to one of the network cards in the smoothwall box will be like pluggin in your cable modem to the wan port on the back of your router. I would plug your wireless router into to the next nic on your smooth wall box. If your neighbor is the only one using the wireless do the following. Enable WEP, don't broadcast your ssid, filter by mac address, and limit the total number of connections to 1. That should keep your wireless rather secure. With the final network card in the smooth wall box attach either a standard switch or even another router. Smooth wall has built in DHCP support and it will allow you to set a range of ips.Hard wire all your home computer to the switch and your in business.

What is the best way to share execution priviledges between limited users, power users, and administrators?

Say an application has already been installed by a higher priviledged user type, and a limited user cannot execute it - e.g. an ISP login software, or Spy Sweeper. Note: ISP login software lacks profile, so I suppose I could just create that, however, Spy Sweeper is a head scratcher.

Should the application be uninstalled and reinstall under All Users? How do you install an application to allow All Users to use it?

I have already tried to use the "Run As" right-click Properties w/Shift key approach and that does not work.

Is there an approach with regard to local security policy that would do what I want to do? How is that done? Or, is Access Control List the way to go?

As Administrator, I?ve created my own folders for my documents. These are located in the D: partition of my hard drive; and they are shown in the Library section of the contents of the computer, on the left.
Now, when opening the computer from the Guest Account, my own folders do not appear in the Library, all right. But just below the Library there appears the rest of the computer content, including the D: partition, and any Guest can access all the folders and files there, including my documents.
How can I hide the folders of each User from any other Guests, not only in the Library but also in their actual location in the hard drives?
Thanks for any help.
ACA

Answer:Hiding Users' files from Guest Users

OK this appears to be a simple permissions issue.

go to your root folder on the D: drive and right click the folder and select properties.

on the security tab you should see a list of those who have access to the folder - Make sure that your user has full rights and remove all rights to the "everyone" user group. This when OK'd should xascade down to all files and folders contained in the folder

If you wish you can adjust the rights available to any other particular user on the system - Make sure that you do not remove or change any rights given to system or administrative users unless you fully understand the result

In XP, you can choose to run a program as a different user. Right-click the shortcut, select Advanced, then check "Run with different credentials". When you execute the program, it will prompt which user to run it as. You may have to read up on how to make it not prompt for a password each time.

Folder does not show in normal File Explorer window
Run TREE cmd and the All Users folder does not show.
Run DIR cmd for C:\users and All Users does not show
Run ATTRIB -s -h C:\users and still do not see All User folder appearing. Restart after running ATTRIB cmd, but does not trigger reload of folder.

BUT, when I
Run DIR cmd for "C:\users\all users" the folder and files show
Run ROBOCOPY and the All Users folder and its files transfer.

Somehow this folder has become hidden and I am unable to unhide or see it.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Unable to see folder C:\users\all users

Windows does not have a folder All users. It is a link to C:\ProgramData folder, in other words when you run command DIR "C:\Users\All Users", it lists the content of folder C:\ProgramData.

Anyway, two managers here have W98 machines, and periodically after they have logged into the network and used different mapped network drives all of a sudden they can't access any mapped drives and they appear to be disconnected from the network (well, they are, as they can't do anything network related). The network is your basic ethernet using simple UTP cabling and hubs. The cabling appears to be plugged in properly, especially since they can log in and be connected to the network for a period of time. Rebooting solves the problem, but that isn't acceptable to my managers, so I have to figure out a way to get it so they don't get kicked off (besides just giving them W95). I have done a lot of research by myself on this, but I can't find any answers....if anyone has any ideas I'll be grateful, and will consider naming one of my future children after you. If you need more info, I'll be checking this board tomorrow throughout work, and will be more than happy to provide you with any other info you need. Thanks

Nate W.

Under Windows 2000, when I reformat the computer, I add administrator user as a network user in the install process. Then, I go in and add local users to the computer. Later on when I want to add network users, it won't let me, the computer just hangs. Any ideas?

Answer:Can't add network users after add local users

Not much information to go on here, but are you signed on as a network admin when you are trying to add the network users?

When you say you add the administrator user as a network user, what are you referring to? Are you adding the Network Administrator account to the local PC?

Anyone who uses/has-used PC-cillin ... well more to the point, does anyone like this program?

I bought it for "fun", before trying it (smart, I know!)...but it is extremely annoying in so many ways.

It warns you about everything. Granted, that sounds good, but--just browsing the net, it will find dozens of "spyware/ad sites" (and it has always been right thus far), but they are iframes, popups etc. They are everywhere--and a warning for each one!

"Venus spy-trap" they call it. I thought that was funny in itself But really, the one thing on there that is just a PITA: I added two domains to my hosts file, and there is no way to "allow" the changes permanently--upon reopening the browser, their warnings come back. Of course, you could disable the monitoring of the file, but then what is the purpose!

Lastly (thus far), I get meeting notices via Outlook / Lotus Notes. They say these emails are *viruses* because they're in an unusual format! Better yet: the fix...well, you should check it out!
http://esupport.trendmicro.com/suppo...ntID=en-126819

You edit the registry to fix something so stupid...

Ok, end of rant (sorry), but I really am curious--those of you who use this, why?

Using win10 - 64bit
Logged into cmd prompt as admin.
Cannot see C:\users\all users with the following cmd's

Is there a way to create user files or folders that are not invisible to other users. Invisible to mean the other user see absolutely nothing to do with another user. Users in this case to mean Windows 10 "Standard User" Please note that if solution cannot be accomplished with Home edition, please note that in your reply --Thanks

Here is an example. There are 2 user accounts on my computer, not including mine. The computer has a 2nd drive that I use for all my personal data. When I created a Standard User, that user apparently can see all my folders and files. They cannot open them but they can see the titles. I want to create an environment where each user only can see and manipulate those files and folders they create/own. Other than that the data drive would empty.

If this is something you know about or dealt with I would very much like to hear your thoughts and a concrete and simple way to accomplish this.

Again, thanks

I am running W10 Pro x64 1511.

The laptop came with a default account for USER, so the underlying subfolders of Users are in users\USER\.
For various reasons I wanted to have them under my name i.e., users\FP\. So I added another admin user FP with which I login. However, no users\FP\ folder was created and the information is still stored in users\USER\.

Any idea why and how I could get the system to create the FP users folder and store the information there?

Thanks.

I am cleaning a laptop out and i created a brand new user name. I deleted the other 2 users using the control passwords2.

So the machine starts and i select the user. Process usage is very high and it says 50, but actual user shows about 9. I click show processes from all users and i find the culprit as well as 50 processes. I deleted the users so there shouldnt be that option.

Why is there more processes if this is the only user, why does it even have the option?

Answer:Show processes from all users, with no other users

All users includes not only other users, if any but the System as well.

Hello,
I come across an issue. I have some powershell scripts in a folder. My demand is that i'd like to share it with remote domain users. But i don't want them to check the content inside.
So, when i set the NTFS permission for the users,  I removed the read permission only retained 'Traverse folder/execute file" permission
and "list folder/read data" permission. however, the remote users could access the folder remotely but failed to see any scripts inside the folder. just looks like the the folder is empty.
My questions is if my requirement is viable with NTFS permission.

My father replaced his Windows 98 machine with a new computer running Windows 7. He's currently on 32-bit ultimate, but we could change versions if needed.

He's really hoping there's some way to force Windows 7 into a single user mode, primarily so C:\users\All Users, Default User, Public, and his own user are merged into one. It's absolutely driving him nuts the way it is.

I've done quite a bit of searching and have came up empty. Before I said it couldn't be done, I'm wondering if anyone's heard of a way to do this.

Answer:Win 7 single user, merging users\All Users, Default User, Public, etc?

Just curious, but why does this annoy him so much? Surely it's not that complicated a system and all of his documents etc are stored in the same place, with more or less easy to use shortcuts to these directories placed throughout Windows 7?

I bought my computer at the beging of November last year and I thought

Here's How to Get Windows 10 for Free - Maximum PC

Quote:

the Windows team announced via the Windows blog that Microsoft will be giving away Windows 10 for free to users of Windows 10 Preview.

That's right. Even if you're on an older version of Windows, like XP, just go and install Windows 10 Technical Preview now, and when Windows 10 comes out, you'll be prompted for the full, free upgrade.

seems MS are prepared to give windows 10 away to everyone

Not sure what impact this will have , or how well it will run on a windows XP PC

Well, my old machine didn't meet the hardware requirements for Windows 8 so I've got to assume it'll be the same for 10.

I have read several articles where the people who are enjoying Windows 10 the most are actually Mac users. While they aren't all switching, they do find that they actually like it.
Then I ran across this article today.Windows 10: Pushing my MacBook and iPad aside
If you want to know a bit more of what to expect from the article before you click to read, check this out.
The versatility of Windows 10 is gradually pushing my MacBook Air and iPad Air 2 to the side. This was unexpected and a testament to how good Windows 10 has become in such a short time.
The author of the article has the job of writing about OS X and iOS. He is now using a Surface 3 as his primary device and doesn't miss his iPad or MacBook. Coming from a die-hard Apple journalist, that is really saying something.

Answer:Will Windows 10 entice OS/X and iOS users?

I have a friend who is primarily an OS X user (musician and photographer) who likes Windows 10 better than Windows 7. This person will never use Windows exclusively or even the majority of time, but for such a hardcore OS X user to even use and like Windows 10 (and dual boot) says something.

I just read this on the Neowin.net site:

Microsoft reminded solution providers and end users Wednesday that support for Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) will end Oct. 10. Customers running Windows XP SP1 must migrate to Windows XP SP2 over the next 3 months or they will lose incident support. Microsoft also said it won't release any more security updates for SP1 after that date.

During its monthly security briefing, Microsoft executives told customers to prepare their migrations over the summer. "I urge all customers to have plans ready for moving to XP SP2 as soon as possible" said Stephen Toulouse, a security product manager at Microsoft. The original support end date for Windows XP SP1 was Sept. 17, 2006.

So what happens when you click then choose the arrow next to the Shut Down button to Switch User? It should take you to the Log On screen to choose one of the other accounts.

To keep your work open on one account, you'd choose Switch User instead of Log Off. You can move between all of the accounts this way.

The Windows 9 public preview coming at the end of the month is going to ask for feedback almost to the point of annoyance.
The comedy "Frasier," set in Seattle, Washington, featured a radio psychiatrist who said to every caller "I'm listening."
That seems to be the motto of the upcoming Windows 9 preview, expected on September 30. It will ask for feedback almost to the point of pestering you, according to a report from Neowin. Microsoft wants to collect all sorts of input from the users on everything. The feedback center will ask users about everything they like, don't like, which features should be changed, added or removed, and anything else.

This comes in stark contrast to the tone deafness of the Sinofsky era, in which the OS was vilified from the day its public beta came out and Sinofsky would neither hear of it nor change course. Hi, I'm a newbie. Love this place! One recommendation:
I just hate it when a site (like Adobe) issues an updated Version (like CS, CS2, CS3, CS4) then relegates all previous versions to bygone status. You have to really search to find advice, technical tips, tutorials, etc. Clearly the idea is to forcefully encourage the user to feel that they must upgrade or be left behind in the dust. It's about marketing, and totally unfair to users of previous interations.
The same thing happens with Windows. I noticed that when I went to Features on the taskbar above, it was all about Windows 7.
I for one would be grateful if at least XP and Vista were given equal billing for several years. After all, you aren't involved in marketing, right?
Thanks for listening,
Pollyantha

Do NOT install the Windows 811493 and 330909 updates. These updates change the version of the Ntkrnlpa.exe and Ntoskrnl.exe files from version 5.1.2600.1106 to 5.1.2600.1133 or 5.1.2600.1150 or higher.

Many XP users, including myself, have suffered severe performance degradation after installing either of these updates. If you are having this problem, it is highly recommended that you uninstall these updates from the Add/Remove Programs list in the Control Panel.

If you have installed these updates and have deleted their $$NtUninstall$$ files from the C:\WINDOWS folder, you will not be able to uninstall them. I made the mistake of doing this and was able to recover only be restarting in safe mode with a command prompt and copying version 5.1.2600.1106 of these 2 files from the C:\WINDOWS\SERVICEPACKFILES\I386 folder to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE folders.

Microsoft alleges that the updates conflict with certain antivirus programs and recommends disabling some of their protection features to prevent this from happening. Personally, I cannot see reducing the effectiveness of my antivirus program. Microsoft promises to deal with the problem and release a bug-free update at a later date. I guess we will all wait and see if the forthcoming Windows XP SP2 upgrade will solve the problem.

I have Windows XP Home Edition.I use to be able to switch user to another user and still leave my programs running. I can't do that anymore. I have to completely Log Off in order to get to another user. I know you can fix it by going to:Control Panel >>User Accounts >> Under Pick A Task Click on Change The Way Users Log On or Off >> Then check Use Fast User Switching...Hit Apply Options. When I hit Apply Options it just brings be back to the User Acounts screen and when I click on Change The Way Users Log On or Off it says that I didn't check the Fast User Switching Box.Anyone know how to fix this? I am completely stumped.

Answer:Windows Xp Switch Users

When you go Start >> Log Off, isn't Switch User there? Does it just instantly log off?Oh. I see what you mean. Just go into the menu you've been to (change the way users...), tick the box, go apply, and on Start >> Log Off, see if you can Switch Users. But my guess is that there's a bigger problem behind this that we don't know about.

Just wondering if other windows defender users use the spynet part.I haven't got it ticked on my one ,and i just wonder if i should or not bother. As usual many thanks

Answer:windows defender users

I dont bother myself if you choose to when the prog detects something it asks if you wish to send a report to spynet detailing the problem so it helps fight spyware. As I said I dont bother with it myself.

Just read this article from Forbes today.

MS, it seems, is persisting in installing these updates. Makes no sense to me considering the outcry of 'privacy issues' with most recent OS.

Microsoft is becoming worse than Google.

Had this update but just uninstalled. Thanks for the article.

1. KB 2952664- a secret snooping patch first pushed to Windows 7 back in April. Officially described as merely a “compatibility update for upgrading Windows 7″, Infoworld discovered it actually adds a program to the Windows Task Scheduler called ‘DoScheduledTelemetryRun’ which sends usage information to Microsoft even for those who have specifically opted out of the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP).
