Has anyone on rogers who isnt a member of the windows insider program been able to get update 2?

Question: Has anyone on rogers who isnt a member of the windows insider program been able to get update 2?

I am a current rogers wireless customer who has been waiting patiently for update 2 but I havent yet received it. I am not a member of the insider program or part of the developers group so I am wondering if and when the update will be available?

Preferred Solution: Has anyone on rogers who isnt a member of the windows insider program been able to get update 2?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Has anyone on rogers who isnt a member of the windows insider program been able to get update 2?

How can I check? Im reasonably confident I have it, and I am Rogers without Insider.

Hi everyone,
Before heading off for the holidays I wanted to give a little bit of an update on how things are shaping up for Windows 10, especially since we don?t have a build for you this month. I know that some of you are disappointed that we didn?t release another build (though we know some of them escaped?.I?m looking at you 9888 & 9901?)* but now that we?ve announced our event on January 21st I can finally explain why we didn?t. We?ve been very hard at work putting together a great build for you that includes a bunch of new features and improvements. As all of those payloads came in we needed to stabilize code, fix any integration issues, and ensure all of the new UX is polished. We?re really focused on making the next build something that we hope you?ll think is awesome. In fact, just so that we have a *daily* reminder to ourselves that we want this build to be great, we even named our build branch FBL_AWESOME. Yeah, it?s a bit corny, but trust me that every Dev that checks in their code and sees that branch name gets an immediate reminder of our goal. We?re super excited to show you what we?ve been up to! Look for a follow-up blog post from us on where to tune-in to the live webcast on January 21st.

This Windows Insider thing seems to be gaining momentum

We have over 1.5 million registered Windows Insiders today which is amazing, and about 450k of you are what we consider ?highly active?. In other words, you?re re... Read more

got a lumia 1320..updated to windows 8.1 without any issue.
did hard reset/soft reset..then downloaded windows insider so that I can upgrade to windows 10.. but getting errors like "A connection error prevented us from downloading programs for you, check your date/ time settings in your phone"
changed date/time settings to US, India and everything still no success.
Browsing forums suggested that I have to register on insider . windows.c o m
While I tried to do that, I am not able to do so...I have a screenshot of the error but not able to paste the link here..

You should already have received this in your email.Microsoft has made some adjustments in the agreement for those who are in the insider program.https://insider.windows.com/en-us/program-agreement/?OCID=WIP_r_Body_termsIt appears to be just a change in some legal terms. Here is my question. Does this really change anything? In a commercial environment, automatic updates can present some risk to the business. So frequent backups and a redundant method of doing business ought to be standard. Doesn't everybody know that?

Answer:Insider Program Update.

They have updated the terms a few times previously.I found a previous copy of the terms here:https://web.archive.org/web/20170827044049/https://insider.windows.com/en-us/program-agreement/It looks like the new revision is much, much shorter. (6 versus 13 pasges when I pasted into Word)Looking it over it seems like they largely simplified it.I'm not sure what your last paragraph/sentence has to do with this, though. This agreement only applies to "Windows Insiders"; an exclusive term they have used to replace their QA department with volunteers.

I rolled my Lumia 920 back to 8.1 in hope of installing fresh W10 but when I installed insider app and chose insider fast nothing happens. My phone just upgrade to denim and stopped there. It wasn't like this before because back then it would download the update and install W10 by itself.
I tried soft reset, hard reset, reinstalling insider app, choosing insider fast/slow/RP but nothing works.
If anyone can guide me to a solution please help me!

Answer:NEED HELP; roll back to 8.1 but the phone won't update to W10 under insider program

Switch to the Release ring. That should get you onto the 10586.164 build, eventually. Both the Fast and Slow rings are now Redstone-focused so the 920 won't receive updates on them since it's not supported for upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile, officially.
Barring that, you will need to edit the registry which is a harder/more involved path to upgrade to W10M.

Greetings all,

I have a DVD copy of the latest Insider Build (16288) thanks to 'f14tomcat'

I have the latest Creator's Build on both my laptop/desktop (15063.608). I am wondering if i can do an update using the DVD (within Windows, not booting from the DVD) without actually being part of the Insider's program?? If so, will this trigger my Windows install to automatically put me in the Insider's program (hoping not)

Since this build has no expiration i was hoping to run it on my desktop (taking image before doing of course) till the Fall Build is released & install that over 16288. Is this possible?? Can anyone point out any negatives to doing such??

I've read more positive remarks about this build so i'm willing to give it a shot as long as it is doable. I will hold off till i hear from the gurus.
TIA,

Ray

Answer:get out of windows insider program

Just a question: did you take advantage of the free Upgrade when it was offered between July 29, 2015 and July 29, 2016? If so you may still have a digital license on Microsoft's server but it may require a clean install of Build 14393 to clear things up. If you didn't do the free Upgrade you'll need to buy a copy/license.

The first released version was Upgraded in Nov. '15, Version 1511 then the next Upgrade is Version 1607, now on Build 14393.351.

Hello, Windows Insider ?

I'm Gabe, and I lead the Data & Fundamentals Team here in the Operating Systems Group (OSG). My team is excited about helping to review and understand all of the feedback we get from you via the Windows Insider Program, and working with all of our feature teams to make changes based on what we hear. You can expect to hear from me going forward on the Insider Program.

Download, and get new builds
◾If you haven't already installed Windows 10 Technical Preview, you can do it here. (If you are an IT pro, Windows 10 Technical Preview for Enterprise is here.) Just a reminder ? this is pre-release software , so check out Before you install to be sure it is right for you.

◾If you have already installed Tech Preview, the latest builds will come to you automatically via Windows Update. For most of you this means in the middle of the night. As long as your PC is plugged in ? and either on or sleeping ? the builds will be downloaded and installed for you. Note that Windows Update will not automatically download new builds over metered networks.

◾You can choose how often you'll get new builds ? "Fast" or "Slow." With more frequent updates, you'll see the latest features sooner, but you're more likely to run into bugs. By default, all Insiders will be opted into the "Slow" track.

Ok so the time I heard that Windows 10's Tech preview was released, from what I can remember, I kinda signed-up for Insider. And today, they said that Insider Users will have to update their windows 10 tech previews to continue it to be genuine. Even i signed up, i didn't have time to download the preview. Plus, what's weird is the "reserve windows 10" button in my screen disappeared. And btw, i signed up in Insider from a different laptop(Windows 7) and a different e-mail address, and I am using my new laptop(Windows 8.1)without the new email being signed in to insider, but it is a microsoft account. So what is bothering me now is that is a microsoft account already an insider account? Because i didn't sign my new microsoft account in a new laptop and in a new Manager (Outlook) . So why did my reserve button disappear?

Answer:How do I leave Windows 10 Insider Program?

A Microsoft Account is not automatically an Insider, and the reserve icon is disappear for everyone, nothing to worry about it.

Hi everyone, I?m excited to share the news that we?re rolling out our next build update to the ?Fast? ring of the Windows Insider Program ? Build 9879! Once again this build has a ton of changes, some noteworthy new features, and a few gotchas to be aware of. It also has a number of things that YOU have influenced directly with your problem reports and suggestions. Thanks!

Getting started:

If you are new to the Windows Insider Program you may want to check out my post here from last month since this post is using some terms and concepts I first shared there. (e.g. our ?ring progression? model.)
Just like last time, this new build will come to you automatically via Windows Update, installed during your maintenance window if your PC is plugged in and on or sleeping.
If you don?t want to wait for it to download and install on its own ? you can go to PC Settings, Update and recovery, Preview builds and click the Check Now button to go get it now.
If you?re currently in the Fast ring, the build is available now. If you?re in the Slow ring, you won?t receive the build right away ? we?ll publish to Slow after we see how everything goes with the Fast ring.
This is a full build, and it will be installed as an in-place upgrade, so you?ll go through those colorful ?installing your apps? screens again. This is because your account is being re-provisioned after the upgrade.

Has any one gotten their copy of Windows 10 activated via windows insider?
I've been in the program for almost a year and have gotten all the windows 10 previews on my system. I got the 10240 rtm build in my system via upgrade from the insiders program.
Like all tech enthusiast I decided to do a clean install on my system with a fresh windows 10 RTM from the windows website. It all ran smooth and working fine.
Now I enrolled back on the program using the options on the windows update settings, I did a restart buy still not activated.
I heard that the insiders program is on hold due to the RTM release. How true is this? Anyone else with this issue. Did anyone got this fixed?

Answer:Windows activation via insider's program?

Hi, I have a similar issue. Windows Insider programme updated my Surface Pro 2 after July 29th. It said 'Windows 10 Pro' in the About section of Settings, and the build number disappeared from the desktop. So I assumed that meant it was now my official Win 10.
I then performed a clean install via the downloadable USB installation - in retrospect I likely should have just 'Reset' the PC from Settings (but when you want RTM, you want the proper RTM as much as possible). Since then my copy of Windows 10 won't Activate.
Speaking to MS Support they suggested, initially to find the Product Key via a PowerShell method, and input it into the Activation screen.. But that didn't help. So they suggested installing Windows 8, and upgrading to Windows 10. Logical, but laborious.
Since downloading the Surface Pro 2 recovery image I have had no end of trouble trying to get Windows 8 to install. In fact all I've achieved is re-installing Windows 10 at least 3 times, in various different ways (I might set up another post about that!). It seems Windows 10 doesn't want me to go backwards.
And yet it certainly doesn't want me to go forwards and activate my copy of Windows 10. So any update you have on ideas, put them in the thread.

Hello,
I thought I was already enrolled in the Windows Insider Program (Slow Ring), but I have not been able to receive the latest update on my Lumia 950 (released yesterday)
I checked Windows Insider App, and it asks me if I want to "Get preview builds", did it used to specify which ring I was enrolled in? I did try (twice) to re-enroll in the Slow Ring, but every time my device resets, I still get the same "Get preview builds" option (and my device still cannot see the latest update)
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Answer:How to tell if enrolled in Windows Insider Program?

The Ring factory made a lot of users confusing.
The 10586 threshold update is for:
1 - all not insiders Window10 eligible phone
2 - all Release Preview insiders for not eligible phones
3 - NOT for already Redstone slow and fast ring. (threshold is inferior than Redstone)
Who got the Fast and Slow Ring is in the Redstone build, NOT threshold. Did you noticed build # is inferior? :)

Hi, before windows 10 was out, I was dual booting my system and I had windows 8.1 and windows 10 insider preview on it. So after windows 10 was out, I deleted the windows 10 insider preview partition and did a dirty install over the windows 8.1 (not an upgrade). Skipped product key entry on install and logged in with my Microsoft account (which is also my insider account). The thing is now, my window 10 shows it's activated but I am not in the insider program ( I have checked in the settings app and I am not in the program). So did Microsoft give it to me for free? because I thought the prerequisite for having a genuine windows 10 is either buying it or being in the windows insider program.

Answer:Windows 10 pro showing activated but not in the insider program?

Microsoft automatically activate computers if they're registered in their servers. When you used the insider edition that key was stored with your hardware id in their servers. When it loaded it activated itself automatically using that key which it pulled from their servers. That means it's got a limited time line and that in order to keep windows 10, you'll need to re-enroll as you haven't upgraded which would have given you a permanent key. Hope this helps

I've read the release notes for Insider Preview Build 14372Mobile that an issue with Bluetooth clipping of voice prompts is supposed to be fixed. I'm having an issue where, when connecting to our car, initiating a call hangs the phone, and I suspect that it is related to this clipping issue. I'm an insider, but "Windows Insider Program" option in the phone Settings >> Update & Security area is not present like is shown in the tutorial I found at Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Builds - Stop Receiving . I think this is where I would get the insider preview updates. (I have a Lumia 950 XL.)

Can anyone assist? I tried searching but couldn't find anything on this. Thanks!

With the anniversary update rolling out, and me being on the slow ring (for the entire time in the last year) what am I to expect?
I saw that the recent build for fast ring insiders 14393.10 had some updates for the maps, so obviously me being in the slow ring I didn't get that.
But other than that, I already have the anniversary update?
Also, if I stay with the insider/slow, I do not have to pay for any future updates, right?

Answer:I am on the slow ring for windows 10 insider program... a question?

You should have got that update if your on pc (it's released to all rings and public). And yes as long as windows is activated you will continue to get updates until the devices hardware isn't capable of running 10. If your on mobile same story till the hardware isn't capable, and the 14393.10 hasn't been released for mobile.

Windows Insider Program: Frequently Asked Questions

The Windows Insider Program has been in full swing for almost a year now with countless Insiders helping shape Windows 10 as you see it today. Windows 10 is an ever-evolving operating system that relies heavily on Insiders' feedback to help shape the way it will evolve for the better. Below are some frequently asked questions about the Insider Program.

1: WHAT IS THE INSIDER PROGRAM?
The Windows 10 Insider Program offers Windows users access to Insider Preview builds of Windows 10. Preview builds are effectively beta releases with the sole aim being for Insiders to test the build for stability, bugs, compatibility and general performance prior to the build being released to the general public.

As should be expected with beta software, Insider Preview builds can cause compatibility issues with programs (including anti virus software), drivers or hardware, damage or loss of data and network connectivity issues. With this in mind it would be advisable to not use your daily PC with an Insider build as your main operating system, but consider setting up a dual boot with your existing installation of Windows 7/8/8.1, creating a virtual machine or install on a completely separate system for testing purposes. It is also recommended to back up all of your data prior to setting up a dual boot.

The Insider Program is recommended if you:

Answer:Isn't there anyway to modify/delete sent feedback in Windows Insider program?

I don't think there is, you should be able to add to it by adding a "meet to comment" under your feedback?
Not saying this is what you should do, personally I type up all my feedback in notepad / word and copy + paste in the feedback app. Due to the intermittent sign out bug have had to adopt a different approach to give feedback lol.

I installed the Technical Preview of Windows 10 on an old desktop that is a spare machine. Because it is beta software, and also due to privacy concerns about text entry and so forth being captured to develop things like predicative text, I didn't put it on my laptop, my primary machine. I had enrolled in the Insider program to get the Win10 software, using my outlook.com address.
Now, I see that the Insider Program will remain in place after the release of Win10. However, I don't want to receive beta software after the release, nor do I want the potential loss of privacy that comes with it. Furthermore, I use the same MS account information on the laptop as I do on the desktop. I want to ensure that only a final version of Win10 is ever put on the laptop.
So, how will I un-enroll from the program, or at least exclude a machine from it?

Answer:How will I unenroll from the Windows Insider program once Win10 is released?

You should be able to do so from within the "Advanced" options of Windows Update. Currently there is a section which says "Choose how Preview Builds Are Installed", I'd say it's safe to say this option will become functional after RTM, allowing you to choose to opt out of Preview Builds / Updates.

I was upgrading to the latest slow ring upgrade using the insider program. It downloaded smoothly and stuck once while preparing for installation due to less memory. I cleared out some apps and data and tried again and it proceeded. After that it rebooted and started installation (the gears started grinding). But after sometime it suddenly showed a sad smiley face. The phone rebooted and gears came but it again showed the sad smiley face. Every time I connect it to a power source it goes on a loop like that. I tried hard resetting but the exclamation mark never reached. The windows recovery tool is not identifying it.
What should I do?

Do a soft reset and then hold the volume up button immediately when it vibrates it may take a few tries. Sometimes for me it's just before it vibrates or right on the mark. Which is pretty weird....
Hold the volume up button until you see Nokia written larger than normal ontop of the screen, not the middle.
Start the Windows Device Recovery Tool and choose my device is not detected, immediately plug in your phone and wait abit.
Post back results.
Also use the Nokia pre-supplied cable whenever possible as that is factory cable.
Once in the bootloader do not let the phone run out of charge and always before flashing make sure your phone is fully charged!

Windows 10: Windows Insider Program participants can upgrade to the RTM build next year

Quote:

Offering the latest build of Windows 10, Microsoft's upcoming operating system that is set to launch in 2015, via a special Windows Insider Program to eager beta testers is a new move on Microsoft's part, in the hopes of obtaining as much feedback as possible. With a simple click of a button, you can check for a newer build and download/install it for evaluation purposes. This allows you to be on top of the developmental process and give testers the chance to tinker with the latest improvements and features.

Microsoft has already outlined a roadmap for Windows 10's release, which is set to happen sometime between late summer or early fall of next year. But one question has come up regarding these preview builds. Will Microsoft allow testers the ability to upgrade a preview build to the RTM (final) version of Windows 10 once it becomes available? The answer is yes.

Answer:would the lumia 1520 re-join the windows insider program in the future?

I doubt it will, it has been end of life for a while. It was a great phone and sometimes I find it hard to believe that the Lumia 640 (which is also a great phone, mind you) is still receiving updates and the 1520 is not, but hey, what can you do...

Hi folks,
I recently updated my Lumia 1520 to update 2 via windows insider trick. Now I pretty much want to receive normal updates that are pushed to my device in the future and not windows 10 TP and all. So can u guys suggest me what to do in order to receive normal updates? Currently the update setting shows windows 10 update ready to download... Is there any trick that can help me?
Thank you.

Answer:Some help regarding wp 8.1 update 2 (via windows insider app)

I believe you will have to hard reset the device since you aren't supposed to stay on Update 2. It was supposed to stay there for a little bit, then upgrade to 10 automatically. Erase the device to "forget" that whole plan.
However, there may or may not be a less destructive solution since while I know when the device is asking to install it's too late, but I don't know about asking to download.

Plz help me...i don't know the difference between windows insider and update advisor.
I updated my lumia 640 by windows insider...is there any problem?
Plz help me

Answer:Windows insider vs update advisor

Update adviser is to let you know whether or not your phone is compatible and for when MS/Carrier have the official WM10 update ready for your phone. Windows Insider is so you can preview pre release builds of WM10 on your device. Which ring did you choose? I updated my wife's 640 to the insider release preview ring for the .242 update(which will be more stable than the slow or fast rings) then removed her from the insider program so she'll get the next production release. I hope this makes sense, let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

Hello!
I am enrolled in the slow ring of the windows insider preview. I have a Lumia 640 . The internal storage available in it is 7.28 gb. To update, it requires 1.22 gb. I have removed all apps and documents I could have removed. Now only system does and the (uninstallable) Microsoft apps are left. How do i get the else required to update?
PS: The mail+ messaging shows it is using 103mb space. Can that be removed?

Answer:Windows 10 Mobile Insider Update

Im currently using 6.12 gb of 7.28 gb. It says i require 1.22 gb which comes around 6.06 gb. So i just need about 70 mb more space

the only way to update my lumia 535 to windows10 ..is to use windows insider??

Answer:The only way to update my Lumia 535 to Windows10 .is to use Windows Insider?

Yes.The Windows mobile 10 are not released yet,and if you want w10 the only way until now is via insiders.I'm an owner of Lumia 640 xl dual sim,and I dont know how 535 works but I tell you to download the w10.They are so good and smooth from the last 2-3 updates. In the app you can choose between slow-fast.And if you don't want to get fast and with buggs updates choose slow.
IF you wanna to try the last update just use fast.

You'll wait a few months for a device from MS with similar specs. However, there have been several new models released that run W10M. If you're not particular about getting a microsoft branded phone, you could purchase one assuming it is available in your region
You could also test with insider after buying 640xl. But you'll have to do upgrade process carefully. Check the forums for guidelines

I like many others have been having a problem getting my Windows Update set up to get insider builds. Even though I had signed in using my Microsoft account, I get getting the "Fix me" button which gave me a message about stopping insider builds. I think I identified the problem. I did a clean install of 10162 on a spare drive as a stand alone system. Update told me I was all set to get insider builds. Then I reattached my drive with Windows 8.1 and set it up for dual boot. As soon as I did this I got the infamous "Fix me" button. I then disconnected the Windows 8.1 drive and update told me I was once again all set to get insider builds. Strange - when Update sees another windows install on my system, it disables insider builds.

Answer:Problem with getting Insider Builds thru Windows Update

Yup that is unfortunately what happens if you dual boot with another version of Windows.
I get exactly the same scenario dual booting Windows 10 and 7.
If I want to update Win 10 I have to disconnect my Win 7 drive then all goes well until I reconnect my Win 7 drive and boot up, then follows a sequence of CHKDSK.

The Insider Previews aren't stable releases they are test builds... you shouldn't use them on a primary machine. If you need to recover files follow this guide:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/data-recovery-using-fedora/
You can download Windows 10 and clean install:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-windows-10-oem-and-retail-iso/
If you want to remain on the Insider Preview. Use the Insider Preview .iso:

Hello, I've been trying for hours to get my HTC One M8 to run the Windows 10 preview, but I'm having some issues.
- As most people have suggested, I've hard reset my phone, not used a backup, then installed the insider preview and signed up for fast ring (I hear the newest build is great).
- Once I've done this and the phone has restarted and everything, I go to check for updates and.... nothing. Says my device is up to date.
- Tried resetting (twice), using the WP recovery tool, and still no updates come around.
Any suggestions? Could this have anything to do with my carrier (Verizon)? Am I out of luck? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Upgrading One M8 for Windows from 8.1 Update 2 to W10M Insider Preview?

I have an HTC One M8 running 10586.218 that my son is using (left IOS and likes W10M) and it runs very good on that phone.
You will not get an upgrade using the fast ring on the HTC, that is just for "supported" devices. You can get the very good 10586.218 release using "Insider Release" not "slow" or "fast" though. Not sure if "production" ring will get you anything either.

Sometimes it takes some time for the updates to happen. They look like they're stuck at 0%, but really they're still loading.

Hello all,

Real quick, I'm having an issue where I try to update from Build 15031.rs2_release.170204-1546 to the next rs2_release available via Windows Update. The update downloads, does the pre-install, boots me into the traditional blue screen of updating, finishes, then reboots me to get back into the OS. At this juncture, I am at a blue flag and white dot circle, which has stopped spinning (it spins for approx .75 seconds) and halts, machine stays in this state ad infinitum. I can reboot it, at which point it goes back to the same state. If i shut down, then power back up instead (cold boot), the machine reverts the upgrade and goes back to the previous build and everything is honkey dorey.

Thing 1) I do not have a wireless USB mouse/dongle. Please don't recommend I remove it as one does not exist.
Thing 2) I have removed two possible culprits (Creative SoundBlaster Z card, Asus Wireless-N card). No change.
Thing 3) I have unplugged all video (except 1 Display Port), all USB connections, and the Ethernet cable. No change.
Thing 4) I even went so far as to disconnect my NZXT water cooler USB connector from the motherboard header and reboot. No change.

Most posts I see, it's a "Oh, your wireless usb mouse is causing issues" or, "the PC is having issues discovering USB devices during it's boot process, disconnect them". Well, I've done it, and it's still busted. This has happened with /every/ developer preview update since Win 10 was release. The first... Read more
