Is it possible to share a mobile broadband connection on Win 10?

Question: Is it possible to share a mobile broadband connection on Win 10?

Is it possible to share mobile broadband connection with laptop's own wifi card, this was possible on Windows 8.1, but I can't find that feature on Windows 10 build 9926. Tried different softwares and cmd, but nothing works.

Preferred Solution: Is it possible to share a mobile broadband connection on Win 10?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Honestly on WP10 I'm not sure if this is available yet. Remember this is a technical preview - that means alpha at best. Keep on the look out for updates and this will likely be included.

I've got a 3 mobile broadband dongle I'd like to share over WiFi. I've already ticked the ICS options in the properties of the connection, but I've tried several times to use the internet with both iphone and ipod touch without any joy.

The router I have is a Netgear dg834g with latest firmware. The dongle is connected to the side USB port on my laptop.

Can someone provide any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks!

Answer:How to share a mobile broadband dongle over WiFi?

Some wireless vendors inhibit ICS when you're using their dongle, perhaps that's the issue?

You should consider a 3G router which allows you to connect that device directly to the router and share the connection.

What's the ISP and the EXACT make/model of the broadband dongle?

Hi Folks

I have BT broadband to my house.

I have two PC's a work laptop and a desktop. I currently have both setup up to use the broadband access but only one at a time.

What I am wondering is if there is any way to share the connection between the two PC's so that both can be connected to the web at the same time?

If this is possible what hardware would I need?

Thanks

Answer:Can I share my broadband connection?

You would need to install a router, probably a 4 port as I have not seen a 2 port router. The router would be installed after the modem. The cable from the modem (that connects to the computer now) gets plugged into the WAN port on the router and the two computers woul be connected through the LAN ports on the router. You will probably have to purchase those cables seperately. Radio Shack is one source for all those components. Or you could go wireless. It depends on what fits your budget.

I am considering utilising two spare machines I have to go online too, I dont want to mess around with hard wiring CAT 5 cables etc...so I was thinking of a wireless netwaork/router. Can an y point me in the right directions for tips and a good guide? Including the best way to setup and what hardware I require. Thanks peeps.

Answer:Broadband...best way to share connection?

You will need a Access Gateway plus a PCI wireless card for each PC. Then just follow the wizard to set up. Its very easy, but expensive in comparison to using a hub and patch cables..

We will shortly be getting Broadband from Wanadoo. We have a laptop in the house and a desktop in the office (50 metres away). Wireless connections would not be suitable because of thick stone walls. We need to access Broadband from either PC even if the other is switched off. We understand we will need a Router and Ethernet card for the desktop. Can anyone tell us how to connect all this kit together please and has anyone got a reccommendation for type of Router.

I'm so tired of this error that I could I throw my computer down the window. So the thing is I'm trying to share my mobile connection from my computer to my xbox (which has worked before without any problems) but now when I click on properties on my mobile connection on the share tab to check the "allow sharing" box this error: 0x80004005 along with "undefined error" comes up.

Which seems unsolvable, think I've turned google inside out trying to find an solution. I've only found guys that got the exact same problem, but doesn't get any helping answers.

Sorry for my English, computer terms are a bit tricky to translate from Swedish.

P.S to avoid any unnecessary discussion about how I could want to share mobile connection to the xbox when it's only going to lag, it will not, it works like a dream when it chooses to work..

Best regards

Answer:Trying to share mobile connection to xbox, error 0x80004005

Check your connection box/modem, restart it, see if that works, if not, then check your xbox connection and your phone connection. If it still dosen't work, then i would consider asking a professional

I am writing this thread in reference to the link below
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/863583-cricket-broadband-internert-sharing-two.html

I was trying desperately to find a way to share my little cricket usb broadband modem with another laptop. I found no good solutions online. So I just goofed off with it for a while and stumbled upon a solution IN VISTA ULTIMATE x64. Here it goes.

Step 1

Goto the computer that will have the modem attached to it and then goto network connections. Right click on the cricket modem connection and choose properties.
Then click on the far right tab called sharing and check the first box
Take note of the IP Address of your wireless/wired network adapter that you are using to network your computers together.

Step 2

Goto the client computer and click on View Computers and Devices under Network and Sharing. You should have an Internet Gateway Device in the list. Right click on it and enable it.

Step 3

On the client computer goto Network and Sharing and click on Manage Network Connections.
Right click on your network device that you are using to network to the other computer, and click properties. Then click on Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties.

Change the settings to what applies to you, but follow the guidelines I give below.

NOW I AM PRETTY SURE THAT IS ALL I DID TO GET IT TO WORK. LET ME KNOW IF THESE STEPS DON'T WORK FOR YOU. MAYBE WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT I DID IN ADDITION TO THESE STEPS!

Answer:How to share your Cricket Broadband Connection

What's wrong with Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) or Step by step Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) setup in Vista?

You can use static IP addresses on the client computers but it is easier and better to just use dynamic addressing.

I've been using Adelphia cable broadband successfully for past 2 years with the following hrdwr:

(1) Linksys Etherfast Cable Modem (BEFCMU10)
(1) Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router (BEFSR41)

Usually have 3 PCs (2 are my personal machines, 1 is from my employer) cable-attached to the router. Not running a software firewall, yet.

In recent weeks decided to move one of PCs to another floor in the house and so I replaced the router with this model:

(1) Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (WRT54G)

Both routers contain a 4-port switch function.

One of the two PCs that remain cable-connected to the router is from my employer who has mandated all users to implement the ZoneLabs software firewall. From reading this site and other tech sources, it seems that the NAT provided by my router should be sufficient protection (at least to incoming attacks, though not unauthorized outbound transmissions), but my company may still force me to use ZoneLabs anyway.

Even though the software firewall offers some protection, it sounds as though it also can create unnecessary complexities and problems. I worry that potential problems may spill over and affect my other 2 PCs that are sharing the Net connection.

In fact, earlier this year I had installed Norton Internet Security on one of my personal PCs (but did NOT implement any functions, just installed the software: Security=Off, Personal Firewall=Disabled, Intrusion Detection=Disabled) and it hosed all 3 machines so that none of them... Read more

I still don't know what caused the problem, but I do know that only one thing had changed on my network -- the install of NIS.

To be honest I just couldn't buy that! Assuming the use of a router providing a LAN to which the 3 PCs are connected the software firewall on one PC will have no effect on any other PC on the LAN. I don't what it was you did or didn't do but I have no idea how the SW firewall (NIS) on one PC would have any impact on the other PCs on which it is not installed. I've used NIS in exactly the same situation (NIS on one PC, ZA on a second, ZeroKnowledge Freedom firewall on a third) and none had any impact on the others; this assumes, of course, that in each case SW firewall the local subnet was declared as a "trusted" zone and thus the devices could all see each other thru the SW firewalls.

Q1. A single router and separate SW firewalls on each PC as you already had!
You might, I suppose, consider having different subnets as you have two routers (connecting them appropriately) both going out through the single broabband connection, but really I can't see the point of this compl... Read more

I am a complete novice and i hav 2 new dell computers both running XP home service pack 2.Can anyone help me / give me some advice on how i can share a broadband internet connection between both of my computers.

Answer:How can i share a broadband internet connection

If you have a cable ISP that is connected via Lan you will need a Router (whether it be wired or wireless) with a lan connection or if your connection is via phone line and modem you will need a router/modem combined. As they are new Dell computers they almost certanly have onboard lan for wired connection, if you wish to use wireless they will need wireless PCI card for at least 1 of them.

Hello,

I already mentioned an issue concerning mobile broadband in this topic:

Now I have Windows 8 Pro RTM installed and still have the same issue.

I found the following website:

What I am looking for is my Huawei EM770W to pop up as:

But instead it just looks like:
And in the "Networks" charm I see a telephone icon next to the connection of which I think it is broadband. I can't even find that icon on Google.
I can only view the properties of the connection. That brings me to the desktop view and the standard Dial-Up settings.

The main issue is: I have HAD the Huawei EM770W work like that! It just doesn't do it anymore. Now I cannot set this connection to automatically connect. Basically: I cannot use the advantages for Mobile Broadband that Microsoft has built in Windows 8!

I would really appreciate some assistance here!

i have XPC computer in my 18 wheeler and use Verizon broadband PCMCIA card to access internet. i am trying to share connection using Linksys WAP. I have run network wizard for 'my computer directly accesses the internet and other computers connect through it'. I can access the network but not access the internet. I don't see the Vz software even trying to uplink when I try accessing internet from wifi connected device. Am I beating a dead horse? Does Verizon prevent sharing somehow?

Another option for me might be accessing wifi connection on the road and sharing the resulting connection (via LAN eternet cable). Can that be done? My main goal is to update my Tivo box over the internet.

G'day,

I've just moved and had to set-up a new Internet connection at the new premises, and I've hit a couple of problems.

I have three computers, all wireless-enabled, who are all currently able to connect to each other wirelessly and share files, et cetera. So, the wireless network is fine in that regard.

But, when I plug the wireless router in to the ADSL modem, I cannot get the Internet connection to be shared. If I directly plug the ethernet cable from the ADSL modem in to any of the computers, the Internet connection works fine - just not if it's connected via the router.

I have attached a screen-capture of what I'm seeing on the configuration page for the router (192.168.0.1). When I try to click 'Connect', the page refreshed a few times, and then stays as 'Disconnected'.

If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

HI ALL

I have a pc and have just purchased a laptop.
Can you advise the best way to manage broadband on both.
without going for the dearer wireless connection.

I would like the one broadband connection for both and thus pay for the one connection
i have eircom broadband 2mb.

I thought I could plug out the broadband and in to the laptop[. I tried and cannot do this without transferring the account to the laptop.

I have searched the archive but am still confused.

I believe that you can join the two (pc and laptop) using a dedicated usb cable.
even with this i am lost.

If i join the two computers with the usb cable will only one machine have contact with the Internet at any one time.

Is it possible to have Internet on both machines at once.
Can you point to an item in the archive or a tutorial or if soneone wants to go through it step by step i would be very grateful.
Any help would be welcomed.

best regards

Answer:connecting a pc and laptop to share broadband connection

You need a broadband router, then you can have as many machines connected as you like. FWIW, a wireless router will be no more expensive than the wired models, and since this is a new laptop, it probably has wireless capability.

If you really don't want to move to a proper routed network, then you'll need to enable ICS on the host and run the Network Setup wizard on the client. Remember to configure your firewalls to permit ICS traffic through the LAN adapters.

HI All,
I am having an odd issue with Mobile broadband properties.
I have two devices running windows 7 enterprise edition, my first device connects to 4G with no issues.
I am attaching the screen shot from device 1 which shows three tabs
Subscription,Profile,Security in which i am able to enter all the necessary details for 4G authentication
Device 1

While on second device it comes with a dialouge box shown below, and it fails to connect.
Device 2

when trying to enter the details and press continue, even though it comes up with a prompt shown above for device 1.It doesn't have the tab profile, and the connection fails.
I would like to know, how i can change the prompt for Device 2 so that it shows up like device 1 when i try to connect.
We can rule out the issues with
1)sim as i have tried multiple ones, all fails in device 2.
2)both are running same software build of win 7
3)All drivers are up to date + windows updates

Hope some one can help me out with this issue, if the above mentioned scenario is not clear please let me know.
so i can explain bit more further needed.

Cheers From Australia

Hi, I hope this is the right forum. My XP machine can't connect to my usb mobile broadband. I have LAN network but the usb mobile broadband (usb dongle) is my back-up connection, so i need it to work.Brief history: I was infected by a trojan/virus which affected my LAN connectivity (dhcp issue). A good advisor/mod from this forum helped me out. (here)Now during the time i still had the infection, the mobile broadband is working alright. A few days after my issue was resolved, i tried the mobile broadband again and found that it's not working. The error i get when trying to connect is: "A connection to the remote computer cannot be established."I've already done:- uninstall the software that came with the usb dongle- remove the 3g modem from device manager (and it reinstalled on reboot)- reinstall the software- disable any firewall- checked another PC with the same running setup to compare. Under Network Connections -> Dial-up, it has another device called "3G Connection" aside from the "Huawei 3G Mobile Broadband." Not sure if i need to add this and how.I might just need to re-enable some settings? Someone please help me. TIA to the good-hearted soul.

It says "Service provider not found", which is strange, since I have same provider on my mobile phone and it works just fine.. Any suggestions?

Hello,
I've been looking into this subject for a couple of days now but I can't seem to find an answer to a problem we're experiencing at work. - I have
a feeling there might be a simple solution for this but i can't get quite put my finger on it.
Here goes:
We're testing a new Dell 2-in-1 device (Latitude 7350) that has a build in Mobile Broadband modem (Model: Dell Wireless 5810e Mobile Broadband).
After installing just Windows 8.1 Update 1 Enterprise Edition x64, with all the latest updates and enabling Mobile Broadband - that is, pressing 'Connect' and entering the PIN-code- it does manage the connections as we wish, as it should, as described by Mircosoft
? I?m happy about that.
Though, once we install our VPN software (Global Protect 2.2.1) and make a connection, a switch between sending data over Mobile Broadband and WiFi
does no longer happen

What happens is that once the VPN-tunnel is build over 3G/4G.. the data is kept being send over the Mobile Broadband connection, even if Windows has (also) connected to our WiFi.

We have to manually press "Rediscover network" on our VPN software -or 'Disconnect' at the Mobile Broadband - before the tunnel is rebuild and data is transferred over the WiFi network.
We assume that this is a Global Protect issue and have made a case at Palo Alto Networks, but we are looking for a temporary workaround.

I notice Windows does no longer ?Disconnect? the Mobile Broadband connection automatically when ... Read more

Answer:Manage Mobile Broadband connection with VPN

Working with Windows 10 now, I managed to resolve the issue by creating a profile for the mobile network broadband interface and selecting that it is a metered connection.
Without that the VPN software did not want to reconnect when our WiFi was in range and mobile broadband was no longer needed. Now it does.
I will double check this for Windows 8.1 in a few days

I have at home an internet broadband connection PPPoE and two computers a desktop one further called PC and a notebook one further called laptop
I've made an ad-hoc wireless network between them
I've tried to share the internet connection through ICS, in order to have internet on laptop too, but from unknown reasons to me it doesn't work

The OS on PC is Windows XP Prof SP2 and on the laptop Windows Vista Ultimate
I've also set the ip for the wireless connection on the PC to 192.168.0.1, mask 255.255.255.0 and on the laptop ip 192.168.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway and preferred DNS 192.168.0.1.

In Windows vista it appeared connected to the wireless network, but no internet access. When i selected to diagnose the connection it said that it can't find DNS server or something like that.

I must say that the broadband connection has different ip's eveytime it connects. Must the ip's in the wireless connection be the same with the ip' broadband connection?

Hi all

I'm using an external mobile broadband modem to connect my PCs to internet. I share its connection with an adhoc network in a Windows 7 PC. IP addressing is set to DHCP and all other computers and devices can successfully connect to the adhoc network, and they have access to internet. The problem begins when a guest computer begins to heavily use the internet, like when starts to download a file. I see the "Windows has detected an IP address conflict" error on the host computer, and the mobile broadband connection stops and won't work until I disconnect and reconnect it.

Any ideas about what's happening and how to fix it?

I wasn't sure where to ask this question, but since it kind of relates to networking, here goes. A friend of mine has Sprint mobile broadband using a USB-thingy to connect. He said he tried connecting after plugging in an ethernet cable attached to a switch or hub (not a router) and the modem would not connect. He said he got some kind of message (I don't remember the exact details). He decided to unplug the ethernet cable and try again; after that the modem worked as usual. Do these things have some kind of "feature" that won't allow them to function if a network connection is present? I tried searching for others with this problem and didn't come up with any mention of it any where.

I'm pretty sure windows has a built in option to do that. Unfortunately they keep moving things around in control panel and I don't use win7 myself so I can't tell you exactly what you need to select but it will probablly be somewhere in the network section of control panel.

Hi,I live in Sweden and I have an SL300 which has Telenor prepacked as a service provider for the built in mobile broadband. I want now to change the service provider, but I can´t find anywhere to do this ? Does the SL300 has a SIM card ? Where ?Grateful for any suggestions ! Thanks,Anders

Answer:Change service provider for the Mobile Broadband connection for Lenovo SL300 ?

hi, I am also having the same problem. Actually, they have the Telenor SIM card in it and if you need to change the service provider, you have to open the correct part and insert the new SIM. I'm moving to Denmark and would need to change the service provider. I will inform you if I manage to open and change the new service provider, btw, if you happen to do it, plz inform me. You can check how to open the WAN chip hatch here (I extraced these pages from SL300_hardware_maintenance_manual). However, we have to be sure if your WAN device is operator-locked (I mean locked to Telenor) or not? Tomorrow, I am going to call Lenovo Sweden.Message Edited by rakusson on 05-06-2009 03:15 AM

Hi, I have a desktop pc on xp with a "three" mobile broadband connection. I am trying to share this internet connection with my ipod touch by following this guide:

http://geekandmoney.com/2009/03/3g-internet-connection-sharing-over-wifi-on-windows-xp/

I have managed to setup the wireless connection and my ipod will connect but the internet does not work.

There is a follow up to the guide explaining the problem i have:

http://geekandmoney.com/2009/08/internet-connection-sharing-tips/

The solution it suggests requires me to identify the ip address for the internet connection of my usb broadband modem, and assign my wireless network a similar ip. I cant find the ip for my usb modem though, can anyone tell me how I might go about this or suggest anything else that might be preventing the ipod from accessing the internet connection?

Any help appreciated.

My lenovo thinkpad X200 7458-5NG is Mobile Broadband Connection not activated after i reinstalled windows 7 64bit and it has the sim card slot but its not responding with the software. If I try to install mobile broadband activation it say this is not a supported wireless WAN card installed in this computer, the setup cannot continue...... Any ideas happy people ThanX Andrew

Answer:Lenovo Mobile Broadband Connection Driver for Windows 7 - ThinkPad x200 5NG

you will want to check whetner there is a physical card installed. the x200 does have the card slot, but that does not mean that wwan card is installed. and even then ,its also not confirmed whether you have the wwan antennas installed. you will want to check your windows device manager and make sure you have a 3g modem listed under network adapters. if you dont, the card is unlikely to have been installed physically.

I have a Verizon Mobile Broadband USB760 Card which is connected to a Windows 7 Laptop. The mobile broadband device is shared with the local area connection on Internet Connection Sharing tab under properties of the mobile broadband device. The Ethernet cable is going to the WAN port of a Netgear WNR2000 wireless router. I have set the basic setting screen of the router webpage to the same ip addresses, dns servers, subnet masks, and gateway of the laptop. The ip address of the local area connection of the laptop is 169.254.25.143 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. These settings are automatically acquired from the TCP/IP version 4 protocol. The WAN IP address for the router is 169.254.25.144 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. The DNS server and the gateway setting of the router are both set to 169.254.25.143.

The problem that I am having is that a week ago it worked perfectly but now it does not work at all. I have not changed any settings on the router or the laptop. I have also checked to make sure the device was still shared with the local area connection. What I have noticed is that only www.google.com will load. Attempting to load another website will just say waiting for www.?.com. The ? is any websites that I attempt to load like live.com, xbox.com, yahoo.com, or facebook.com. Also, any webpage will load on the laptop which the mobile broadband device is connected to. So, I do not know if it is the Internet Connection Sharing service or the settings of the router.

Can someone confirm whether the Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is supplied locked or unlocked on the X60s? Just bought an X60s and was told the internal SIM slot is unlocked and would take any SIM card but for some reason it's taken an unhealthy dislike to my T-Mobile SIMs. When I load the ThinkVantage Access Communications Wireless Connection Staus window and click on the Mobile Broadbad tab, at the top above the Connection Status box I get the message "SIM card is locked...." When I load ThinkVantage Access Communications and press the Mobile Broadband button, I get the following message "The installed SIM card is not authorised for use with integrated Mobile Broadband adaptor in your computer." This latter message seems to suggest that Sierra Wireless HSDPA Network Adaptor is locked.

Answer:X60s - Is the built-in 3G mobile Mobile Broadband adaptor locked?

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately, that has not been appearing since the last few days. I checked my hardware and it appears that there still is a 'Smart Card' but with no information regardin it. I also checked the HP Support Assistant and HP Utility Center but they had nothing. I have tried removing the card and placing it back again. The computer emits the sound that recognizes new hardware but no installater comes up Searching forums, I tried downloading the HP Connection Manager, but it failed to install when an error message ' NO WWAN' came up I also downloaded and reinstalled the latest Mobile Broadband Drivers but nothing happened. In fact, I suspect that it maybe the new updated drivers that caused my T-mobile SIM card to be disabled. I have tried calling HP support but they cannot help and demand payment for 'advanced tech support' when my Laptop is still under Warranty. I tried calling T-mobile, but they said that it was a problem that I needed to contact HP for. I contacted Microsoft that said I need to get in touch with T-mobile. I just learned that this is even remotely possible, so I would like to make it work. I'm on a Lumia 950XL (not Insider) and would love for the Mobile hotspot to automatically turn on when my phone connects to my car via Bluetooth. I want it to turn on because I have an iPod Touch in the car (that is always connected via USB to the car) for music playback. I would like that iPod Touch to be able to stream Spotify and use my 950XL's hotspot for the Internet connection. Is this possible?
- My car does not have Bluetooth music streaming, so this is why I have to depend on the iPod because my car does have iPod integration (ugh)

Question: Broadband share

Hi, i have a customer who has broadband installed. they are a training organisation. they also have offices that need to be connected to the broadband. i am trying to find out how to connect them to the same connection but having them hidden from each other. at the moment they want wireless to move around with laptops, i could use a vpn on a managed switch and allow access to the broadband port only, but using wireless means i can't specify where they are allowed to go, and how to stop the students seeing the office computers.
i am a bit of a novice at this, but any help would be grately appreciated.

Hi this is my first post.
In my laptop there are two networks
1. Local area connection which i use to connect with my router(wired connection,Ethernet)
2. N79 the ad-hoc network which i created to connect with my mobile device.

Now when i turn on WiFi in my laptop and start listening, my mobile device detect the WiFi network. Then i start to browser of my phone and try to load a web page, and the computer shows the network status as connected. But in the phone still i cant access web pages, the browser of the phone try to load the web page and reply "no gateway reply".

What can i do for this?
Thax in advance.

Answer:Share internet with mobile device-Nokia n79

When you create the adhoc connection on your latop, you would enable ICS. The connection that get ICS is your LAN cannection, it'll say shared. When you browse on your phone, it will pick up this adhoc network which is wireless adhoc network. You logon like you would a normal wireless network with security key (if it's setup with one). If you can connect than i don't see why you cannot surf the net. Can you confirm that your phone have actually connected to this adhoc network.

Hi I feel pretty stupid about this but here goes. I have broadband on my pc. The service was set up using my user account on our home pc. I can access broadband but three other family members can't. This should be so simple. 4 user settings on the same pc wanting to use broadband. Thanks.

Should be something in the setup of your broadband router that lets you set specific Usernames which are allowed access to the router's facilities (including internet).Make sure all users have their usernames on this list.On my Netgear router I have to Login to the routers webpage at click here

Hi, I know there will be a few of you out there who can help me to help an 82 year old with his computers. He has 2 desk top systems and a laptop, the desk tops are only a few feet away from one another and very near to the incoming BT phone line. All are on Windows XP. The laptop needs to be very portable. he has Broad Band with FSNET (Wanadoo) I suggested a wireles system (dont want him tripping up)I think Belkin do a Broadband Modem router which is suitable for a BT line. My own thoughts are a wireless modem router on the main desk top system and a USB adaptor on the other desktop and laptop. Am I thinking along the right lines, can it be this simple? He will not want to extract files or folders etc from one system to the other if he can its a bonus ( and will also confuse him) Thanks in advance, Prof.

Answer:what Hardware would be best to share Broadband.

A wireless modem router (usually) comes with 4 ports so that up to 4 PCs can be connected by cables. Ideal in this case as the desktops are close together. The lappy can then be connected wirelessly via PCMCIA card. As long as the modem is an ADSL modem/router then any make will work with the BT phoneline. Most major brands even do 'bundles' of routers and cards sold together.Stick with the known names, Linksys/Belkin/Netgear etc and you can't go wrong.Good luck.

please let me know guys!

cheers for your understanding!

Answer:Can my friend share Broadband?

No ( or not as far as I understand it ) can you share DSL over a distance, now if she was next door and you could either run a ethernet cable or use wireless then yes she could share your net connection as she would be connected to your router, but as I know ADSL works in the UK ( dunno about other countries ISP ) it checks the phone number you are connecting from against the one it has in its database, so you couldnt use if off a different phoneline/number.

She would have to pay for her own connection.

Sorry, I know that this question has been asked several times and I have had a look but none seem to help much. I currently have 512K broadband from PlusNet but I only went for the USB modem package because a friend of mine manages to share his broadband with his brother through network cards and a cable and I also didn't want to spend more for a router since the USB package already came to £116. My friend has installed a network card in 2 of his computers and then connected them with some cable. He said that once that is done, all you need is to set up ICS and then both PCs can use broadband. Is this true? I don't mind having to switch on my PC so that my brother can use the net since I pay for it myself anyways so I should be able to control when he can use broadband. So what type of network cards will I need? Will the cheap 'under £10' ones from ebuyer work? And do both cards have to be identical? And what cable will I also need?I also would like to know whether I can control how much of the connection he can have. For example, if he starts downloading some big file and I don't want him to slow down my connection speeds, then is there some program that will display his current download/upload speed so that I know when he is attempting to download? And also, am I able to stop his downloads if his downloads reduce me down to '56K speeds'? And when our PCs are both connected, how will my brother be able to connect? Will he have to connect as well if I'm already connected or... Read more

As far as I know there is not much support for the configuration you are trying to set up although I would think the best chance is using the Virtual Router software or the directions in the link> http://lifehacker.com/5369381/turn-y...reless-hotspot

It may require using static IP's on the IPv4 properties interface but some experimenting may be required.

Answer:How does One Note for Mobile enable 2 people to share a file ?

You need to send her an invite... And then it syncs through the cloud whenever either of you makes a change.
Make it a todo list and as she checks items off in the store you could sync in and see her progress.

Hello, I purchased a T400s in the UK which came with a Vodafone SIM inside it for mobile broadband. However, due to some error, this SIM never was activated and I can't use it. I'm wondering if I can purchase a mobile broadband SIM from T-Mobile (or indeed anyone else) and use it with integrated SIM component of the laptop - does anyone know if this would work just fine, or would any hardware or software modifications be required? Question: Mobile broadband

I bought a Lenono Thinkpad Edge E530c and would like to use the internal 3G mobile connecting. I inserted my sim into the sim slot under the batery compartment but its not working.  It looks like the drivers are missing. When I start the Mobile connection app it give me "No Wireless Mobile Broadband device found." When I go look in the device manager I cant see any modems installed. So how do I make use of the 3G sim slot to connect to the internet? I also downloaded some bluetooth / modem drivers for my series but nothing seems to work. Please help.

Answer:Mobile broadband

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To activate WWAN in your Lenovo ThinkPad E530c, first you have to ensure that you have a WWAN card and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN upgradable models have the WWAN antennas installed from the factory these will be red and blue wires (the Wi-Fi are typically white, black and grey or just black and grey depending on model). If you have WWAN antennas installed from the factory, probably you need to purchase a compatible WWAN card and install it. If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, install Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation which will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband.

Go to Lenovo Support site, enter MTM number of your device in quick path and get the system specifications. If you find any difficulties, please share the MTM of your device.

Hope this helps!

OK, I asked a question before and got one response...but not answers. This should be simple.1. I have been using the mobile broadband on my T410 for 3 years. It worked fine.2. I did a major windows update.3. Mobile broadband has gone. There is nothing! COmputer says there is no sim card. (there is a sim card and I reinserted it)4. FN F5 bring up no mobile broadband.5. I am paying my $30/ month and have had nothing for past 4 months!!! its killing me. 6.  It worked once for 3 years. Now it does not work. I tried reinstaling the software and it gets almost rhrough and says "There is no mobile sim card installed in this computer"!! Ugggh!!!!7. Lenovo support is useless. Even tho I only annoyed them one time with a problem in 3 years of service contract, my contract ended a couple months ago....so no help there....I have spoken to a dozen people and none have a clue what to do. Surely someone out there has seen or heard about this? My computer cannot be convinced that mobile broadband should be allowed to work!!   HELP!

Answer:Mobile Broadband....need help - its gone...!

I'm the person who responded before. Could anyone who has mobile broadband and who has kept all the various Microsoft and Lenovo updates current tell us that their WWAN is still working? It seems odd if Wombat and I both had a hardware failure at the same update time, but I suppose it could happen. PS My card is an Ericsson 3507

I bought Lenovo ThinkPad T 430, but the mobile broadband can't start. I had inserted the sim card and downloaded the  Ericsson H5321gw/C5621gw Mobile Broadband Driver  which I have installed but I cant find Mobile broadband manager compatible with windows 8

Answer:T 430 MOBILE BROADBAND

Hi Swathu,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Are you sure that your model has been shipped with WWAN card from the factory?

If you have a WWAN card installed in your system, Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation will guide you through the activation of mobile broadband. Also, install Think Vantage Access connections to handle various wireless profiles.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I will be moving from the rented house I've been in for 21 months into a new house in the next couple of months. The house is a new-build and I will obviously not have broadband to start with - don't know if I'll have a phone line straightaway yet. I am trying to work out the best way to get online during this time.I am in the UK.

I went in to an O2 shop today and they were trying to sell me a dongle which cost £20 and then £2 a day, £7.50 for a week and £15 for a month. This would get over my immediate problem of geing broadband-lacking when I move but wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a dongle with x amount of Gbs (to be decided) which doesn't have clock running on it. So, after I've stopped needing it at the new house, I could take it out and about with me on my laptop whenever I wanted and when it ran out I'd top it up.

Does such a deal exist and, if so, what size in Gbs would be OK? We use aroung 10Gb per month on average but that's with the kids looking at YouTube, using iPlayer a bit so assume that just a bit of surfing would need less? Thanks for any help.

Answer:Mobile broadband Pay-as-you-go?

Hi,
I use '3' mobile broadband all over UK. £10 per month, 1gb which is plenty for an hour or so a day surfing plus emails.

I think in a new build you'll soon have utility providers beating a path to your door!!

Hi.I have a lenovo thinkpad x201t 2985-DMG which was delivered with win7-32.I have reinstalled it with win7-64bit. I have not yet got the touch to work. But more troublesome is the GOBI2000 mobile internet. I use Access Connections 5, and I set up a new location profile. When I press connect it takes a while then it says:'SIM card is not present. Insert the SIM and try again.'I have tried with two different SIM-cards which works in other machines. Do I need a driver for the SIMcard-reader or could mine be broken?

Answer:No mobile broadband.

You did try inserting them the right way? It happened to me once - I was inserting it wrong side first

Question: Mobile Broadband

Hi - We are a company which uses a laptop to connect to our secure centre and the internet. We currently use a Orange Mobile GC75 data card which connects to the Orange network and then we dial in to our services and the internet. Our systems are advancing greatly and the GC75 card doesnt give a quick enough connection (Is seems like dial up again) so i was wondering if there was a broadband connection that we could use?Another problem is that there isnt a very good Orange signal where we are so was wondering if there was a data card that could be used with a manx card?We are also looking at buying a new laptop so i can get the best possible to match the data card.I may have got myself in a muddle here but basically i just want a mobile broadband connection that can be used everywhere when on the move with the best signal possible to make it more stable. You help would be much appreciated!

Question: 3 mobile broadband

Please help! I have 3 connect mobile broadband (dongle). I connected it ages ago and it installed and worked fine. Then I uninstalled it. Now when I put the dongle into the USB port, it won't auto install. It says that it cannot be installed properly. (it does, however, work on other computers). I phones 3 connect support and they were uselss. When I looked into device manager, and click on the icon (which has a ! on it) it says:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

It wont auto load and im getting pretty fed up. Please can anyone help. I am thinking I must have deleted some drivers, but when i select 'update driver' it says that my drivers are fully updated.

Please help!

Hi, I've a Lenovo S10-3 to which I've fitted an Ericsson F3607GW wwan card for Lenovo notebooks FRU: 60Y3237.  I bought the card from Hong Kong via Ebay.  I downloaded driver 83W013WW.exe from the Lenovo site and it allows me to connect in areas of 3G coverage. Unfortunately we don't have full 3G coverage in Australia and in my home region there is only a GSM signal and the card will not connect to it, although my old usb plug in modem works fine!  According to the Ericsson data sheet the F3607GW has the full range of frequency bands avilable - so it should work! I see that other drivers and the Ericsson broadband Manager are available and would welcome help in what drivers/broadband managers to use.  I have read on other forums that some other modems require the region to be set to '3' to allow proper working in Australia. I would welcome advice on which drivers/manager etc to use to get the card working properly in Australia. If anyone has experience with the GPS capability of this card I would like to learn how it was done - that's the next step after getting the wireless broadband function to work! Looking forward to some good advice! Rogerf

Answer:Mobile Broadband on the s10-3, GPS?

hi rogerf.due to it was working before, i can say there's no compatible issue with the device and computer.you may need to contact ericsson or the mobile provider in aussie. still, there may be users here who has/had the same issue. you can wait for reply.

Question: mobile broadband

HiI'm having a problem with mobile broadband on our x200 laptops After a period of use the HSPA Mobile broadband becomes grayed out. On investigation it seems like the entire ericsson network adaptor has been removed as it has gone from device manager and it re detected . Reinstalling the driver makes no difference . The wireless and Lan connections are not afffected . On rebuilding the laptop the network adaptor returns so it does exsist on the laptop This is happening over multiple laptops . We have a locked down user profile so users would not be able to removed the hardware . Has anyone seen this before ?? Peter

Answer:S12 Mobile broadband

Hi and welcome there.. i heard not about the first time this question.. Al what i can say is the best compatible WWAN card is the SE F3507  ...and not all cards will work overall (different / newer Card-Firmware) even when you buy a Lenovo card (used by some thinkpads/S10 with 3G/S10-2 with 3G)
second is more difficult have to disassemble your Ideapad ... you need to install a antenna in LCD frame (loose warranty)...
and the third barrier is under windows till now not correct working scenario (even with the actual drivers) ...
Hints for try out upgrading/opening S12  here in this part of forum ... same for tryout upgrading wwan card...

Hi,I was wondering whether my R50 laptop can support mobile broadband. I have tried to insert a Three dongle but nothing happens. The laptop has recently had a major problem and the software has been returned to factory settings a number of times. So I don't know whether a driver is required and it has not been put back on or whether the laptop is just too old? Thanks Extin

Answer:R50 - mobile broadband?

hey extin, welcome to the forums.hard for me to say if a driver is needed or not. The unit of yours, is it running on XP on Win7 ?If it is on XP, a high chance you may need a driver. I would then suggest that you get in contact with the mobile broadband vendor and check with them.

I have two questions. Assuming you get the optional Att mobile broadband option on your x300Can the gps be used without activating a mobile broadband account? Can one just insert their sim card from their phone and have mobile broand band work on their computer?

Answer:GPS without Mobile broadband

Not all cards are supported and may need to be unlocked, see related threads on this.  May be easier to use a USB GPS device while not using your minutes.

Full disclosure: Not a Lenovo employee, just someone with a X61 running Win XP SP2
