Issues with Torrex Pro

Question: Issues with Torrex Pro

Hi,
Lately I'm unable to download torrents on my Lumia 625 via Torrex Pro. Everytime I add a torrent it asks for selecting a folder to download and then it comes back to the main screen of the app. Any help on this?
P.S. wPtorrent has stopped initiating the torrent download since 8.1 update. So I'm stuck with none of the clients working.

Preferred Solution: Issues with Torrex Pro

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just downloaded this torrent app "Torrex Pro" from the Windows Store Torrex Pro app for Windows in the Windows Store. Has it been free for a long time? I think it was like 7.99 before.

Answer:Torrex Pro app, free?

All the Boo Studio apps became temporarily free when they were republished under the new company name of Finebits O. Now they are slowly going back to being paid apps one by one.

As per the instructions here I am attaching the required zip file. I get BSOD every 5 mins running Torrex for win 10. I contacted Torrex support and they sent me a beta version but without success on an HP laptop. With a Lenovo Torrex runs without any problems. I had the HP reformatted twice to factory settings by a technician but no resolution. I updated all drivers still no resolution.

Answer:BSOD with Torrex on one laptop but not another. Both running win 10

I downloaded Torres lite version then I uninstalled it. Then I wanted tp install it again but when go to the store it says it is already installed on my surface 2. But it doesn't appear on my apps list. Any suggestions in how to uninstall the app fully?

Answer:I downloaded a Torrent client (torrex), now why can't I uninstall it?

Ah that problem exists on RT too, such a stupid problem that can't happen except on a stupid OS, this problem drove me nuts on Windows 8, I remember that I had to reboot to fix it, my guess you already did.

Hi, guys.   Immediately after getting my tablet last summer, I installed Win 7 Enterprise, which our corporation is licensed for as a microsoft SA customer.  Win 7 Enterprise has all the features of Ultimate edition, including Bitlocker, which I needed.  I even restored the machine using disks I got from our Lenovo account manager and had the same problems as the corporate image.  My tablet has the touch screen functionality. I had the following issues with the tablet, which are now resolved: Trackpad randomly messing uphttp://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/X201T-trackpad-issues-randomly-tries-to... The tablet, from day one, needed a new trackpad.  The part took over 4 weeks to arrive, but it did fix the problem once it was replaced.  I tried a billion software solutions (different drivers, tweaks, etc ... ) and blew a lot of time, so if you have this issue, just get your trackpad replaced. External Monitor didn't work with dockhttp://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/X201T-multi-monitor-issue-with-Ultrabas... The solution was to use a displayport to DVI adapter for my Dell 24" monitor.  The Displayport takes so long to sync with the monitor that it thinks it's not getting a signal, and the laptop turns off that display shortly after trying to activate it.  This happens most of the time.  Using a DVI adapter worked great.  I wound up propping up my tablet... Okay, About three months ago, I got hacked HARD...permissions were changed, administrator rights were removed from my administrator accounts, etc. i was flabbergasted. THe iactually didn't bother me though until I ran a MBAM scan and found 133 viruses and spyware instances on my drive (NOT including tracking cookies!). I cleaned and recleaned, using MBAM, SuperantiSpyware, Avira, running each one in safe mode first, then loading into my normal account and running them, and finally erasing my user account and creating a new one. But even after the new user account was created with Administrator privileges, I still routinely received virus and Malware threat warnign flags from MBAM and Avira. Eventually, Avira and MBAM were disabled and Avira was "deleted" (Windows will not uninstall because the setup.exe file has been 'Changed" and won't reinstall it because I don't have "Administrator privileges" on my Administrator accounts!) even though at startup I receive an error message saying that Avira has been corrupted. The most telling issue is that antivirus and spyware/Malware scans come up clean on Safe mode scans, but using my normal account, the machine reboots. Using Superantispyware I notice that it's always during the memory test that this occurs (and in Safe Mode, it passes through this section with no issue). None of my antivirus programs will download updates, even ones I start manually, and although I have no problem acc... Read more

I started having some strange and outright weird problems with my laptop. I was already planning on doing a wipe and reinstall so I figured this would be a good time to do it. Wiped the drive, deleted the old partitions (had the drive split in two, that turned out to be a really bad idea last semester) and created a new single partition. Did a full format, not a quick. Installed XP as usual. Installed all the drivers for my laptop... At this point everything is looking good; machine is running fast. Install ZoneAlarm free because I will be going online for Windows Updates. Go to WU and download a ton of updates (with the exception of the .NET updates, I do not use that service and my current issues are the same as my old setup that included the .NET updates). I have every critical update and everything from the optional updates category that I need. Everything appears fine at this time. I go to one of my hobby websites and try to add it as my homepage...no dice. I forgot to mention that after WU, I installed Java from Sun, version 5 something or other (I did this last night, so whatever their most current is). I cannot change my homepage. The boxes are not greyed out, I can manually change the site, it just won't keep. This is a fresh install, so there should not be anything weird on the machine. BitDefender didn't find any problems. This has been my most interesting/time consuming build I've ever done. I was stoked on it. First time I litterally assembled a full computer. I've built many computers in my time, but this was the first time I also assembled the case.

I finally got everything up and running Saturday. That's when the first problem came up-

Started installing and after the first restart, i get a BSOD! I googled the code and found out that even in Vista 64-bit you can't install it with over 3GB in some cases. So I took one stick of 2GB out, and still had issues. I checked the BIOS, and the RAM was getting undervolted and was running at 5-5-5-15. I changed it back to factory settings, 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1V. Then I downloaded the hotfix for Vista-64bit for 4GB of ram, popped in the other stick, and I was good to go.

Downloaded AVG and actually paid for everything. Sure I could have gone with the free edition. I've used AVG for years and recommend it to everyone, and they make a great product, plus they've got to make money somehow. That's probably the only thing that's gone smoothly so far.

I started getting Run DLL errors out of no where. If this was before or after installing SP1, I don't know. But it happeneds now and again.

Now game time right? Wrong. I haven't tried more then about 5 games out so far, but Gears of War and Lost Planet have had some odd issues.

GoW apparently has known issues with SLI and 64-bit, so I'll have to check out some hotfixes for it. Anyone of you have an ... Read more

Answer:Issues issues issues. Vista-64bit. 9600GT's in SLI. 4GB Vista problems. Oy Vey.

You'll see huge improvements in 3dmark when you oc your quad. But yes, i also had issues with gears crashing on my rig. I shelved it for a few weeks and the 2nd time around it ran perfect. I also had the BSOD issue while installing vista 64. No clue on the dll errors though.

I have to report also 3 issues with my Lenovo Ideapad U410:1. WI-FI issues since I bought the notebook, end of February 2013.    - I tried updating the wireless drivers, but did not help.2. Left hinge detached from the lid 3 months ago.3. The LCD screen remains black after starting the laptop, it takes several reboots to eventually display the image. The left hinge detached from the lid apparently because of poor design, the plastic keeping the screws in place broked in small pieces... There are still pieces of plastic around the screws... No way to place the hinge back, unless passing the screws through the LCD lid... Being a desktop support technician, A+ certified and Dell technician certified, I supported IBM laptops, then HP laptops, and now Dell laptops. Never had this kind of issue with other laptops. I have an 16 inch HP laptop since 2008, and still no issues, also WI-FI works wonderful. I bought the U410 to have a smaller notebook, as the HP is much biger, thicker and much havier, but unfortunately after only 2.5 years of use, I cannot use the Lenovo Ideapad U410 anymore. I would invite Lenovo to replace the lid, fix the display issue, and also fix the WI-FI issue. Thank you for reading this.

Hello all,Im currently experiencing multiple computer issues, some more serious than other but could be possibly linked?I built my computer just under a year ago and began with the problem of the computer not retaining the graphic card driver. as in i have to re-install it every time i restart the computer. the next issue came in the form of a blue screen which mentions a memory dump. This has got progressively worse (blue screen) and my computer is now running really slow to add to the problems. So basically needs major help.i first thought it could be RAM power issues as ive heard the blue screen is linked sometimes with that and the slow computer would also indicate this but after checking, it is recieveing the corect amount of power. Its really starting to effect my Uni work and just need to get this fixed.Cheers all.Josh

Answer:multiple computer issues. Blue screen memory dump, Graphic issues and more

I'd start by making a bootable thumb drive or (cd or dvd ) with memtest86 on it and run the systems memory through its paces. A bad memory stick or memory that has issues when paired up with another but operate fine alone can be the cause of these issues. Run memtest86 for at least 3 passes, this might take a while but should point out memory issues if those are causing this. Also look in event log of windows os under management and look for repeat errors and write them down and share here.

Hi, Recently I purchased a Lenovo product, the Idea pad z580. I have a number of issues. I would really appreciate answers. The thermal management doesn't does not seem to work. Firstly it starts up, I see the interface. I can click around etc, change the power options to power saving, balanced or performance, however, when I don't have the battery plugged in,(Running off battery not AC adapter) none of those options seems to actually take affect, I load of Guildwars 2, and it lags quite badly but I get stable temperatures of 62 degrees. I also see that the core clocks of the Graphics card are under clocked, and changing to performance mode makes no difference, Now, If I plug the laptop in, (Running from AC adapter) it seems the laptop only then bumps up to performance mode. Games start up, laptop reaches a max temp of 93 degrees for the GPU. I want to know how I can fix this issue? If the laptop is plugged in, why can I not run it as if it were on balance mode. and if its unplugged why cant I run it on performance mode. (Please not that if I put the EM to performance mode, the needles doesnt change to balance mode when unplugged, it stays on performance mode, but runs as if its on balance mode, and visa versa). Another thing, if I press the touch button (moon with star above) at the top of my laionsptop I get different thermal options, however the only option I can select and that makes any audable or visual difference is the dust removal. ... The issues i have been having includes: my driver for my NVIDIA GeForce 7400 is preventing standby, google is directing me to junk sites, and i am having issues with restarting with either it taking forever to shut down, or when it restarts, all i get is a background and pointer, but that's it.

whenever i try to copy and paste, i think that is what is preventing me from being able to post. so my dds log is attached but that's all i can do for now...

Can you please run dds.scr again and attach the dds.txt?

What about gmer? Were you able to run that?

Hello there,

Over the weekend my connection to online games dropped dramatically. Everything else (youtube, downloads, streams, webpages, etc.) works just as it used to. So far I have tried

Updating drivers
Clearing cookies/cache
Giving said games exceptions through my firewall
Closing other background programs that could be taking data
Using task manager to try and find any programs "stealth' stealing my bandwith
Playing a different times of day to see if it was an issue with other people in the house
Resetting the modem+router
Disabling windows peer-to-peer sharing
but none of it has worked. Now I am on Wi-Fi, and am switching to wired sometime in the future but the reason I don't think that is the issue is because I've played with absolutely no ping issues for the past few months on Wi-Fi, this all just started a few days ago.

Hello,
So, I've got two separate, but somewhat related issues. One has been going on for a year and still hasn't been resolved (posted about it before) but I have some updated info, the other one is new.
AsHere I go ....

1. Can't Connect to the Internet
I all of a sudden could not connect to the internet. As my wireless isn't working currently, I used a wired connection. I am using that wired connection right now on my work computer that I am messaging from, so I know it isn't a modem/router issue. I have removed all the anti-spyware that I had and only installed Avast!, I re-installed all the drivers, and I contacted my internet provider. In troubleshooting with the internet provider, we tested the ping for www.google.com, which didn't work, but when we pinged the numerical ip address, it did. The same thing happened when I opened my browser. The representative said that the IP address was not being resolved by the DNS (is that correct)??? Anyways, that's where I am at - how do I resolve it so that the IP address is resolved?

2. First, for some extra background, please see the thread from a year ago that I had posted:
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/663585-wireless-issues.html
Here's what I posted initially before:
I have a Compaq Presario R3440CA with a Broadcom Wireless card. I used to be able to connect to my wireless just fine. Now when I try to 'Find network connections', the error comes up as follows:

Dell XPS 1330 running windows vista 64 bit, 4 g ram, (supposed to be) 320 g harddrive

Oooooooooookkkaaaayy.... well. This is probably all my fault really. I thought I could fix stuff.... turns out I dont actually know what I'm doing and I think I may have made things worse....To start from the begining- In general, I have an issue with the hard drive... When I remove stuff, the hard drive adds gigabytes rather than removing them. It says something like '213 gbs out of 293' and and when I started I KNOW there was way more than that and I've uninstalled all the programs I added (Long story) and cleaned out the hidden files so I know for a fact there is nothing there to take up the space. I want my memory back, grrrar. Anyway...

So I was going through my control panel and deleting bloatware, you know stuff the laptop came with that I dont really need, trying to figure out the affor mentioned problem of memory adding instead of lessening and I removed this thing called 'Microsoft Games for Windows LIVE redistributeable' thinking Oh, thats just some app trying to get me to use games I dont need, lets get rid of it. BIG mistake. After that my games (Fallout 3 and oblivion, to be specific) had issues. Fallout wouldn't start, something about 'xlive.ddl' which I figured must have something to do with the microsoft games whatsit and oblivion seemed to be fine but I decided to uninstall it (just...don't ask....) and I started getting this error- setupdll/setupdll.cpp (390) PAPP:Oblivi... A little while ago I updated my 5 month old L430 to Windows 8.1 but I started having issues with the Intel Graphics card. It would simply just stop working but would then be fixed automatically. I've done all the updates with Lenovo and Intel but I am still having this issue.   A secondary issue that has happened recently is that if I leave it idle for a few minutes it will randomly just freeze up on me.  How can I fix these issues? Thanks.

Hello all.

I've been having an ongoing hardware issue and it has recently reached the point where it is rendering my pc all but useless.

I have built a system using an msi p67a-c43 (b3) motherboard and a Hitachi Deskstar 7k3000 hard drive.

At first, I would occasionally have issues when the pc was coming out of sleep mode. The system would become sluggish, programs wouldn't open, or the desktop would simply freeze.

I found that if I powered off the pc, opened the case and reset the sata cable the issue would resolve itself. I figured it was just a case of a loose sata cable connection and that there wasn't much I could do about it. Because it wasn't a major issue and it only happened once in a while I decided to grin and bear it... but the plot thickens.

I began having issues getting the computer back up and running after one of these episodes. Soon, windows would not start up. I would have to reboot several times before having no choice but to allow windows to run chkdsk. Each time, it found no errors. The pc would boot and I'd be solid gold again until the issue decided to occur again.

More recently, windows actually began finding filesystem errors and bad sectors - so I was worried that I actually had a bad hard drive! Worried that I would have to replace the HDD, I did some quick research and discovered that a loose cable could cause these problems. I bought a locking sata cable and switched the cables. The pc operated fine all weekend, but then... Read more

Answer:Hard drive problems - boot issues, waking issues

It could be many a things.

It could, first, be the PSU. What make/model/wattage do you have?

Does the system start up (POST) fine, without the HDD connected? It'll just say there is no boot disk. I would, at first, back up everything, just in case your HDD is indeed failing. Get diagnostics for your disc. Get this: WD Support / Downloads / SATA & SAS / WD Caviar Green / GP

Might also want to post a screnshot of HWMonitor. So we can see your temperatures and PSU voltages.

Hi, I have posted before about 4 months or so ago but I am still having problems getting rid of Roxio creative suite from my computer. When I run programs like spyware blaster and a MP3 converter program I get the loading screen for roxio saying it is going to load and then it fails. It is really a pain to always have to deal with. Plus as of recently I am unable to load Nero 8 fully on my computer without errors. I tried the demo but when I uninstalled it and tried to load Nero 8 again it would not work, there are some files missing I guess like DXbridge, Audio wave effects and one other one. I tried another install of Nero 8 and omitted the wave editor and some other features and it did load but now I get a server busy error (switch to or retry), when I try to make a cd/dvd. I can press retry multiple times and it will work but not without the the hastle!! Please can someone help me!! I have attached my hijackthis and dss log. I tried attaching the extra.txt log but it seems to fail!!

Everytime I do a search, I click on the links and am redirected to different nonsense websites. Most of these websites are about making money from home, entering a contest or telling me I am a winner of something. I also cannot download any new games from a gaming website. My computer is running very slow and it seems to be getting worse by the day. I have ran several programs to fix this and nothing is found. Can these logs tell anyone anything? I have recently upgraded from XP to Win 7 and I have encountered so my problems I've lost count...

However, I work from home and I need to get these issues worked out NOW...

So, I am DESPERATE for answers...

1. Main problem: I have done a full system index 273,852 files and 2 days later and my search still doesn't work. Files I know are there aren't showing up and now it's not working at all. I've had several error message, but the latest is search:query= Windows cannot find 'search:query...

2. When on certain screens, my monitor flashes/blinks and it is driving me nuts. I've read threads where the screen fades to black and back and mine is NOT doing that. It just blinks like you're blinking your eyes.

3. When using Chrome everything seems to be loading very slowly. For instance, when I click on Google or a new tab and start typing it takes a while to see the text where this didn't happen before.

I know each one of these issues probably belongs in a different section of the forum, but I'm desperate to get them fixed and QUICK, so PLEASE HELP!!!!! I'm pulling my hair out!!!

Okay, so I've been having some annoying issues on my computer, nothing serious yet but some are concerning. Feel free to ask for more info if needed.

Issue 1: I've had some jerkiness/lag and loading issues for some of the games I play, particularly Blizzard games (all of which should be well within system specs). The prime examples:

--> When I play Overwatch, sometimes character models/audio/sprays/projectiles take FOREVER to load for the first game I play after launching the program. All player models are essentially invisible, including my own (don't see the character's weapon or even HUD), and if I fire my weapon while invisible the map will react (breakable objects break), but all of the effects are invisible (if I fire a rocket, for instance, the rocket and explosion are invisible). I can still see usernames above allied players, but enemies are completely invisible. Models load at different rates (so one hero's model might load after a few seconds while the rest take minutes, for instance), any sprays just appear as the default spray (if they appear at all), and voice lines don't work. This has lasted for an entire round before, and when that happens the "play of the game" clip will often have invisible characters in it, even if they've loaded fully by the end of the round. Additionally, even once most/all assets are loaded, if I die and respawn there is a period (several seconds) where the screen is completely black even though my character is ... Read more

Hi, I have vista on my laptop and installed Norton a while back. I got a notice saying upgrade, when i did this my battery ran out mid installation and then Norton wasn't on my laptop so i went on to live chat on their website. They remote accessed my laptop and reinstalled norton, since all of my settings have changed. Main issues: My keyboard keys are wrong, i.e. the 2 should be speech marks but is @, the pound sign is #. I can change back to how it should be by pressing shift and alt but it soon changes back. My task bar at the bottom should have the volume icon, this is gone. When i try to customise my settings it does not allow me to change anything. My start bar is missing the normal icons and when i try to customise i click on apply and nothing happens. Norton have been no help at all even though i am 100% sure they have caused these problems. They keep referring me to microsoft saying basically it's not their problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Answer:Various issues: keyboard settings, toolbar/ start menu issues.

In my opinion... Norton = Problems. There is a lot of other free anti virus software out there, just as good, if not better than Norton.

Hello all,

I currently have a Dell computer given to me by my old employer that is running into validation/registry issues. The computer is now at my new employer since it was faster than what they originally had for me. I am assuming the computer originally had a KMS activated copy of Windows 7 Enterprise but I can't be sure. I first noticed issued awhile ago when a dialogue box saying something on the lines of I could be a victim of software piracy or something. I just closed it out and didn't pay much attention to it.

I then tried to download Microsoft Visual C++ as a program requested that I do so and I got the 0x80070005 - Access is denied error. I've researched and a bit and even bought a new copy (with CD) of Windows 7 Pro. I was a fool and thought I could just plug in the new key and it would be fine. I've tried the whole SubInACL deal and got errors so I'm not sure what I should do next.

I could do a fresh install but 1. This is now my primary work computer so I don't want to lose anything. I am somewhat scared of doing a fresh install, a restore, etc. I honestly don't know the difference all that well.

I also forgot to mention I have the original CoA and I will give that information now:
Windows 7 Pro OA
X16-96076

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

hey! so right now all works fine but for some reason i can't connect to battle.net anymore after changing the port range on my D-link, DI- 604 router from 6112 to 6112-6119. i've been trying to figure out how to host for warcraft 3, but it all comes down to the availability of ports and what not to open for it. and it just doesn't work. So now from not being able to host games i cant even log on to battle.net. I'm running on Windows XP, my router is D-Link DI-604. the error that comes up when i try connecting to battle.net through Warcraft 3 Frozen throne is, saying its an invalid realm or it may i have to connect to the internet from my modem before connecting to battle.net. which makes no sense since clearly writing this i have internet . Ok well it has been a while since I posted requesting help in here. I suppose that could be considered a good thing... Anyway I checked the "Preparation Guide For Use Before Using HijackThis and Other Malware Removal Tools" thread just to double check the proper way to post in here and noticed you guys mention to use a program called "DDS". I have never used this in the past, I have always only used HijackThis but I will, for the sake of covering all my bases, included both the DDS files and the HijackThis report.Ok on to the problem at hand. I will list the problems as I remember them in the order of when they happened (hopefully, knowing my memory...) starting with the more recent problems. (1.) What has happened recently is I have noticed that my processor has been maxing out at 100% doing things that would normally not require more than maybe 20% of the processor. (2.) I have recently done some fairly major creation/deletion/moving of files in hopes of lowering the amount of junk on my computer. I have also run a defragmentation on my hard drive but it is hard to tell if it really worked because whereas in Windows XP the disk defragmentation tool gave you the ability to analyze your hard drive and then actually watch the progress as it defragmented the hard drive, Windows Vista only gives you the ability to "Defragment Now" and then all you can do to tell whether or not it is done is to stare at the little 'Vista ... HiJackThis Trend Micro Found 04 & 017 Issues-Please Help Remove Issues

Cant remove, issues reappear often, cannot get into Google.com or known sights that would be obviously safe to surf within them such as foxnews.com and other pages take forever to load or do not load at all, just plain old frustrating, java is messed and files temp downloaded from Java cannot be deleted when performing a disk cleanup, along with ipod/ ishuffle and all Apple software no longer working, so I cannot use iTunes to load songs on to them etc and I had issues deleting AVG7/ Grisoft but I finally did it via Hijack this, using OneCare which is awful, Windows XP Home SP3, I have two logs to post or forward but I was advised not to post the logs before someone asks me to, please let me know ASAP, I believe I have a serious infection, so much so that my hotmail account was hijacked a month ago so I had to change my password and the person used to send medical spam emails to many comcast.com subscribers and God only knows if he/she has stolen any of my personal and confidential information. Also bytes received are so much larger than bytes sent example rcvd 5 million (5,000,000) sent 4 hundred thousand (400,000). Please advise, I am unsure if I can give you my hotmail account via this posting or the log files pertaining to the exact issues for I am new on this site. Also if I have posted in the wrong location please help me post in the proper location. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
Going to try and make this brief, "try" being the operative word here..

I have a Gateway PC running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
4 gigs of ram but obviously not all useable (yet)
Dual core processor
Nvidia 9800GT graphics Card
Corsair 650 watt PSU
HT Omega Striker 7.1 Souncard..

Kaspersky Internet Security 2012
Nvidia 280.65 driver (latest)

Basically have done a lot of upgrades on this PC with the exception of the motherboard and CPU.

Two days ago I noticed when I log into my PC, it will boot up, however shortly after, programs will begin to stop responding. Sometimes the PC will boot into a black screen, other times I get to the desktop and the taskbar clocks and just does not work, then other times as stated, will boot up, work for about 15 to 30 minutes until explorer stops responding and ultimately, everything else I try to use.

Here are some behaviors I noticed:Is probably not hardware related as safe mode does work as should no matter how long I use it
Could not install programs - when trying, would freeze or fail (in reg desktop)
One weird thing I noticed is that the hard drive activity LED will start doing a repetitive pattern when the system begins to freeze... it will light up for 3 to 4 seconds to show activity, then blink on and off, then light again for the same time, then blink.. same exact pattern over and over again.. all the while you can hear the drive making the same noise, almost as thought its "skipping" (again, safe m... Try working through these troubleshooting steps to utilize the logs and System Resources to find clues, clear all hardware.

There are other tools listed which may help working up to a Repair Install as a last resort before Reinstalling Windows 7 to get a perfect clean baseline reinstall which should solve anything not hardware related.

Hi all I have been trying to set up the computer for 3D animation(fully rendered) and modelling but I am trying to set it up to work as fast as it can. I am rendering a building with shadows lights etc which renders fine for pictures but takes days to render 1024*800 avi 30fps 1800frames ( yes I know thats alot but i'm trying to push the envelope). I've stripped windows down to no extra processes barebones etc. When the computer renders snimation in presentation mode i notice that processors only go to 100% when its trying to present me a realtime video image.

Heres my specs

Ever since I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10, this SoftThinks Agent Service is taxing my HDD to 100% slowing things down.
This is related to Dell Backup and Recovery software. I can kill this service and that's that but every-time I start up, this happens.
As for sleep mode, I will come back to my laptop and raise the lid, hit the keys, move the mouse, nothing. I hit the power button and nothing. So I hold the power button and then hit it to boot up, so clearly there are issues in relation to sleep mode and something shutting it off. (others have posted the same)
I installed all newest Intel drivers on your site and I read 1 user stated to uninstall Intel Rapid Storage, which I did. Intel Management Engine remains as I am still trying to troubleshoot. Are you testing all these new drivers you are putting out for download? Do I need to go back to Win8.1, your site said my laptop could be upgraded.
Please advise and "do the needful".

Answer:Inspiron 3542 - Win10 upgrade issues - SoftThinks Agent Service utilizing 100% HDD & sleep mode/power issues

same thing here as far as the power issues. you must remove the 2 other intel things that were installed along with the Intel rapid storage
intel security assist
intel management engine something or other (cant remember the exact name)
i still have the intel graphics and chipset drivers installed without any problems. it was just the intel rapid storage stuff that caused all the power , sleep mode problems..

I reformatted my computer because after installing service pack 1 and other updates from Feb 14th my computer has been having issues getting a dhcp from my router. I have a windows 7 home premium 32 bit laptop that works just fine. I also have a ubuntu machine that pulls an address from this router and an xbox 360. From what I've read other places online it appears this is a bug with dhcp that appears some time around windows 7 service pack 1 x64. Is this update the one causing issues with the dhcp problems I'm having? Should I uninstall service pack 1 or reformat and not let windows install this? I'm a little confused as to what this problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer:Dhcp issues and network connectivity issues since windows 7 x64 sp1

I've never heard of a service pack creating a DHCP problem.

You might want to try resetting your router either by pushing in the reset button "hold in for ten seconds" or you can reset the router from the router's service page or unplug the router for ten minutes then plug it back in again.

Just because other machines can pick up the DHCP address doesn't mean it's working correctly for all machines. Routers can limp along sometimes but the functionality becomes erratic until you reset them.

Or you can try using the ipconfig commands, such as the ones outlined in the link below.
ipconfig - Windows Command Line Utility

The laptop started with 160gb (shows how old it is) split 80gb between the different partitions but now it only has 69.5gb per partition, so does anyone have any clue how to restore the space?

The second problem I am having is with installing my printers, I have successfully installed two wireless printers on my desktop pc but when it comes to connecting to the printer I must first setup a temporary link with a usb to one of the printers but when I connect them together it does not pick it up. But if I plug other devices in then run fine, anyone got any ideas?

The last issue I am having seems to be some sort of autorun problem, for example when I insert a install disc the autorun box pops up but does not display the install and I only have the option the view all of the files so I have to find the setup application within the disc myself. Any ideas?

I know I am asking about a lot of issues but any help is appreciated.

Recently, I have been having some really odd graphical issues in my internet browser (Chrome but also happens in IE10). I have run Antimalwarebytes and MSE and they turned up nothing. I have some examples.

Last one is a example of what Steam looks like right now for me. I'm at a loss at what to do. Anti-virus shows nothing, rebooted router and modem, restarted computer, I can't seem to run any program that I download. It could be a virus but I can't find it with any program I run. I do have some graphical issues in video games. Such as in Dota II. Some characters will be missing some of their graphics. For instance a character model will not have his Hat on or have a weapon. Any help will be appreciated.

Answer:Weird Internet browser issues and graphical issues

IE10 in Win 7 has turned out to be a bit of a Pandora's Box with Flashplayer and Shockwave problems - not sure if it could also include Silverlight as well.

You could try uninstalling/reinstalling those to see if that improves or try the sites in Firefox.

Create a restore point before you uninstall Shockwave though because I've had a H of a problem with that in IE for it to include the ActiveX Control add-ons on the reinstall.

You could also see if they view okay in Safe Mode etc.

If they do then that could point to a graphics driver problem, but I think it's the media that's probably causing this problem.

You could also download Speccy or HW Monitor to see if it's an overheating issue to be on the safe side.

About a month ago my hard drive froze up and I replaced it with a Western Digital Caviar Black 500 gb Sata drive. I used an external USB hard drive enclosure to remove files etc, the old hard drive still worked, just wouldn't boot the OS. Well since then I had problems with boot up. At first it was just that restart wouldn't work out of Windows XP. The motherboard would beep, display it's identity and stop. Sometimes it would stop after detecting the CPU and the memory but not continue on to even look for the Hard drive or anyother bootable device. Now it takes two, three, sometimes four tries to get it to proceed to detect the hard drives and occasionally freezes on the Welcome screen to XP. When I check the event viewer it seems to get into loops of security checks, running the same one over and over. The last time I checked the System events, it showed none prior to the current boot up. I am also getting hard drive errors. No bad sectors, just corrupted files and messed up index entries.

System:

Amd Athlon 64, 200 MHz 3200+ about 3 years old
Winfast NF4SK8AA Motherboard
3 GB Ram, 2 x 512 Kingston, 2 x 1024 Lifetime
Asus branded - Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS
Windows XP Home, SP3

I am also having no problems once the computer actually boots, no BSOD's, nothing untoward. Also after it's going awhile, seems to start and stop no problem. It's feeling like an old car right now.

I am wondering whether to replace the current gen... Read more

First, I would certainly change out your power supply because generic ones are often garbage. There are tremendous deals in the 450-550 range reputable psu's.

Second, check out this superb tutorial on USB by LookinAround: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic122125.html

Third, run ChkDsk.

Fourth, I think it would be good for you to run a harddrive diagnostics. Your manufacturer will provide a free utility to do so.

So I purchased the 8GB RAM, i5, 256GB Model a few days ago on the 4th of October. The type cover that I wanted wasn't available hence i couldn't purchase it.
On the day I got it, there were no issues. I used it for about an hour for initial set up and added some notes to calendar.
Next day I used it in class to take down notes on onenote and use voice recorder to record the lecture. They both worked smoothly.
Following that I installed imo and google chrome. I wasn't able to enter my details to set up imo as the keyboard wasn't popping up. Hence I had to restart at every step to get the keyboard to show up on screen.
Today, I activated the mcaffee internet security key and it was all fine. A while later i tried setting up chrome as my default browser but couldn't. I then left the device and it went to sleep. I came back, clicked the power button and logged in using Hello. However the touch screen wasn't working! i tried to restart using power button but it asked for an additional step to swipe down. Since my touch screen wasn't working, i couldn't. Finally i clicked on the power and it went to sleep again. Then the camera couldn't turn on. For 5 effing minutes, it kept saying "turning camera on". I remembered i had a pin set up so i connected a usb enabled mouse only to realize that there was no virtual keyboard.
Finally, after awhile i managed to log in. The touch screen was still unresponsive so i used the mouse to restart it. It took ages and the fan got rea... Read more

Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L305, running Vista SP1, that locks up and freezes at random time intervals from the time the computer connects to the internet.

I have run multiple virus scans using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, in both Normal and Safe modes that have determined that the system is indeed clean of malware.

I believe the Network Adapters are the cause for the system freezing based on information found after running ipconfig /all. There are multiple Adapters that, based on internet searches, have something to do with the iP6 protocol.

Also, it is worth noting that there is an issue with the Device Manager. The Device Manager will not allow me to view Properties on any of the installed devices.
Subsequently, I can't uninstall the network devices for Windows to re-install to 'reset' the network settings.

* sigh*

Any help anyone would have would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all,

I've been experiencing some strange issues that lead me to believe I may have some sort of infection. Here are the symptom's I'm seeing:

Last night my network was having many, many network issues. I logged into my router and saw that my computer had 400 active connections. I was able to get it down by shutting down applications such as Chrome, Netflix, Spotify, Blizzard Battle.Net, instant messenger, Steam, and Origins. I ended up shutting my computer down and decided to look again in the morning.
With the issues going on, web site access was happening very intermittently.
When I got on my PC to see what the problem was I had a notice that the Origin client (EA game client) couldn't log on because it was logged on in another location. I've only got it installed on this computer.
After the PC was shut down I reset my router and modem and connection seemed to be going fine.
I woke up this morning and checked me email on my phone and found a message saying that my twitter password had been changed. I fired up my twitter app and was still able to connect. I went to twitter to try and force a log on and was able to connect with my old password. I looked through my feed an saw that my account had sent out about 20 spam messages in the middle of the night. I changed my password to be safe, but who knows if that'll do anything.
Anyway, I'm really worried something is going on. Can someone help me out?

I am going insane with the issues on my computer right now. If I use a search engine, any links I click on redirect me to random virus scans and other pages that have nothing to do with the original link. Whatever has taken hold of my computer also makes my Norton 360 freeze, shutdown, and not work correctly. Scanning with anti-malware is nearly impossible. I've changed the file name to get them to run, and then only in safe mode will they somewhat work. Whenever I try to download new programs to help, it leads me to a blank page. I can't even get to windows update because it is blocked and just leads me to a search engine. I would appreciate any help that you can give me. Greetings, I just switched my main computer from XP Pro to (in a different HD) Vista 64.
One of the reasons for the switch was that I had purchased the computer with 8GB of RAM and I wanted to see what kind of performance I could get from it.

These are my specs:
Computer Systemax
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz (2397 MHz)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista x64
8GB of RAM (4 when I extracted these specs - I was testing to see performance)
DirectX version: 10.0

Realtek Winfast PX8600 GT HDMI(NVIDIA)
GPU processor: GeForce 8600 GT
ForceWare version: 162.22
Total av. graphics mem.:2014 MB
Dedicated video memory: 256 MB

As far as the performance issue, I am afraid I am not seeing a definite increase in performnce comparable to the XP Pro installation with just 4GB (3.25 to be exact, due to XP utilization of memory)

I am starting to woonder if there is something I can do to increase the system performance otehr than the obvious (Take out Aero, etc.) It's not the the computer is slow in handling programs, but some interface activities, such as opening and closing folders and windows, launching programs, etc. Are as fast or slower than on the XP OS.

Most recent problem:

It's actually hard to explain precisely what is going on, but I'll try my best.

With a frequency of about 4 times a day and with no apparent cause, the screen will go black. Open windows and the desktop below will flash on and off and if I move the mouse arrow ov... Read more

Performance is an elusive issue in higher end computers such as yours.First tho' - Most likely your graphics drivers are a tad bit corrupted, and the following will help to update them:Download the latest forceware drivers for your OS and video card (according to what I read, these are the most current: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_169.25_whql.html )Uninstall the nVidia stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program.Uninstall the video card from Device Manager (go to Start and type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter)Reboot and dismiss any "Found New Hardware" dialogs.Double click on the freshly downloaded drivers and follow the prompts. In most computers the big 3 performance issues are:- the hard drive- the RAM- the CPUSo, that's the first place to check. Luckily Vista has a number of tools to help with this. The first is Task Manger (right click on the Task Bar and select "Task Manager". Scroll through the tabs to see what's going on inside of your system.Next, go to Start and type in "compmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then start looking at this stuff (it's listed in the left hand pane):- Event Viewer...Windows Logs...both the Application and System logs- Reliability and Performance...Monitoring Tools...both the Performance and the Reliability monitors- Device Manager- Disk Management- Services and Applications...ServicesWhat are you looking for? Laptop brought 5 months ago and since day 1 I've had touchpad issues.  Recently I've started regularly getting the blue screen of death attributed to Driver Power Failure.  Time to get some help sorting this out.....I hope The Touchpad issue is as follows - every few hours the left and right buttons will suddenly swap on the touchpad.  The only way I can correct it is to to put the laptop into sleep mode and come back out.  (Using an external mouse is unaffected). The blue Screen of Death mentions Driver Power Issues and some research suggests this is possibly attributable to the laptop coming out of sleep mode, I have no idea how to correct these or how to "reinstall drivers" -  not sure it came with a drivers disk when I brught it from John Lewis. Usually have little of no issues with laptops but not really impressed with the Lenovo.

Hi, I am looking for a bit of advice if possible. I really don't know what to call my problems, and I don't know if its related to my laptop, or the upgrade.

Firstly, when dragging an internet page up or down, using the mouse pad (buttons work fine), the bar doesn't release for a second or so. I know this may not sound bad, but as I move to click something or whatever, it moves my page all over as it still thinks I am dragging the page, so any help on that would be great.

Also, when I search on the internet, through google or whatever, a lot of the time, when I type, once I look what I have typed, the first letter is always at the end of the sentence, so again, any assistance on that would be great.

I am using a samsung laptop, although I can't see that being the problem, as these issues didn't happen while on windows 7

Thanks

Hey all,

It's my first post here, so I'll try to be as helpful in my explanations as possible.

Basically I'm running Windows 10 64-bit (free download version) and am trying to use my HTC ONE (m7) with Trinus VR. For the least latency I'm trying to use it through USB tethering. The problem is that my computer keeps dropping and reconnecting to the phone. Plus, even though the phone's USB tethering is on, I'm not getting a 'tethering' connection (only able to explore the file structure).

Now, as far I can tell, according to a google search, most of the problem comes down to the Microsoft USB drivers(? need confirmation on this). I've changed my power options and disabled the "USB selective suspend setting", I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the HTC Sync and HTC SyncManager software AND uninstalled all of the USB devices in the Device Manager.

It will still, on occasion, go through a cycling disconnect and reconnect pattern.

Do you ladies and gentleman have any more ideas that I can try?

Many thanks for reading this far, I appreciate ANY help or advice that you can give. THANKS!

When i want to view a new video on youtube, it takes alot of time concidering i have 75/75 up/down

Its not the download speed, once i get a connection it works fast, but still not as normal.

Also now ive started getting sound stuttering/lag in the video.

Today even the mouse curser lags behind the movement of my mouse and then quickly squirms around the screen catching up all the movement i did.

Does this have something to do with my SSD starting to fail?

Is there some virus hijacking my resources?

Are my drivers bad?

Answer:Stuttering, performance issues, internett connection issues

Hello and Welcome ..

Does this have something to do with my SSD starting to fail?
Is there some virus hijacking my resources?
Are my drivers bad?

We can try to briefly check these with the following methods, or use stronger programs if required..

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. This gives a preliminary reading, and clears your Antivirus/Antimalware programs.
You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/
iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Windows Vista, 7 or 8 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash for a minute or so, and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until you run the next few tools.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.
When the scan is done Notepad will open with Rkill log.
Post it in your next reply.
NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

Hi, I hope someone can help me

Over the last few months I have been having intermittent problems watching Netflix on my Roku media streamer. (I could listen to the radio on there all day no issue). If I try and watch anything, after a short while it cuts out and the Roku has been disconnected from the Wireless Connection. I connect it again and I can watch some more Netflix... sometimes this happens 5+ times in one episode. Occasionally I get to watch a whole episode.

I spoke to tech support at Roku and was told to assign a DNS on my internet provider, they gave me the details and I got a tech minded friend to do it. Didn't help.

Another problem is my router will restart its self at least a couple of times a week. First off my laptop is unable to connect to the internet, then the router restarts and takes ages to connect to the internet again.

I spoke to talktalk tonight and apparently my connection is running a little slow, they have ''refreshed the connection'' and I've to keep an eye on it over the next couple of days and get back in touch with them if it persists.
I just feel like I need some (or a lot) more info on what I think I am talking about because I have no idea if they are just messing me around. I can't connect my Roku to the router with a wire it is wireless only. I don't have an ethernet cable to connect my laptop to the router either.

I've had my S10e for about a week. Here are the issues I'm running into:1. Can't boot with my external optical drive connected (gets stuck on the Lenovo splash screen). Checked my BIOS settings and the CDROM is 5th in line after the USB Key, USB FDD, USB HDD, and HDD. System will boot if there is a disc in the drive -- it doesn't even matter if it's a bootable disc! Also, if I disconnect the optical drive, it will continue to boot to XP. No problem booting with my external hard drive connected.2. Even when I enable Lenovo Quick Start in the BIOS, it doesn't seem to work. The Lenovo site says this is a Linux OS feature (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-71591) but I've seen a lot of discussion on this site and others to the contrary.3. One Key Recovery is installed on my computer however when my computer is off and I press the OKR button, it simply boots the machine. Also, I've been successful in creating a backup using the OKR program. However, when I go to make a Recovery Disc and select the Default Path and Image path (shows D:\Lenovo\OneKey App\OneKey Recovery\backup.wsi), it tells me, "There is no image on selected path. Please select another image." Not sure what to do.I spent about an hour on the phone with Lenovo support. Their best advise for the optical drive issue was to simply keep it unplugged. Seems silly. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

This is my second computer that I am having problems with. This computer seemingly has more of an issue than my other computer in that I cannot run the GMER program at all, I can't run the DDS application (it freezes my computer everytime). The only thing I can do is run the defogger.

There is some kind of worm/virus/malware that is causing my system to run inefficiently and with such poor performance as the computer just started acting up. I checked my PC usage and it was at 100% which is extrememly abnormal. Also anytime I open internet explorer, it freezes and has to be shut down and reopened, just for the same thing to happen. (Same with Chrome)

I don't know what to do since the DDS freezes everytime I try to run it, the black screen appearing to be working but never producing any logs and freezing the computer....and the GMER isn't working either. I am typing this from my other computer because the infected PC has the above mentioned browser/internet issues.

I ran antimalware bytes and it said there were no infections found, I'll include the log, also I have AVG2011 for my antivirus. It is noteworthy to say that the desktop Icons are present but do NOT work, I can't click them half the time...I'll have to use the start, computer etc. buttons to get to use the shortcuts.

Please post ANY help, it is greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,
Its my first post here.
I dont know if you could offer some help, i have been having allot of problems with my acer aspire 5738Z recently. I think the issues are with vista itself but i may be wrong. i will list the issues bellow.
1. It doesnt like going into sleep or hybernate, 9-10 times it will jam and i have to hold the power button to turn it off then restart it. this happens if i let it reach the time its set to sleep aswell.
2. Whenever the first problem happens and it jams, it wipes all of the passwords and usernames from forums and login pages etc ?
3. Today the scroll part of the touchpad has stopped allowing it to scroll, it just moves the mouse around but wont scroll at all. ? i did a bit of research into it and some people say you can change the sensativity with the button that should be in the taskbar, but my button isnt there even when i tell it to show all the time ?

Sorry again if this is in the wrong section. just so much problems i havent a clue where to start. Maybe somone could shed some light on it. Hopfully its something i can do myself.
I have read about driver updates etc but i was a bit cautious to do that as i havent done it before.
Thanks in advance
Kimberly

THANKS!

Hi to anyone reading this. I have a y510p, it's bout' 3-4 months old now. I have this problem that has been bugging me for quite sometime. 1. My laptop won't shutdown/ restart. (Sometimes). I often use google chrome to surf the net. Sometimes google chrome doesn't work after few minutes of using chrome, so i had to use internet explorer. but i hate explorer. So i would restart my laptop, so that i could use chrome again. however, when i click restart, my laptop won't restart. It just stays at the start screen and i had to press and hold the small "U arrow" button at the left side of my computer to shut it down and turn it back on again. Same goes with shutdown. 2. My y510p runs on 750m SLI instead of 755m SLI. Generally, the games that i play can run on high graphics settings. Recently i bought Metro: Last Light. The Fps Is HORRIBLE. I had my v-sync turned off, everything running on lowest settings, had PhysX on, Had SLI mode on.... and the game still lags. Need help here. I've seen lots of problem on other's y510p too. Speaker problems eg. (i happen to have that problem too. It was a hardware problem). I wonder why a premium notebook (to me) would have so much problems.. Sorry for broken english

Answer:Lenovo Y510p shutdown issues and game fps issues

hi AmericanBear,

Regarding your problems:
1. If you have the 1TB+24GB SSD cache drive then your problem might be similar to this thread. Try to temporarily disable Expresscache by doing the following:
  a. Press the Windows key? +R, type services.msc and press Enter.
  b. On the list of services, look for Expresscache and set the Startup Type to Disabled
  c. When done, reboot the system and observe.

2. Before running the game, ensure that the:
  a. Power settings is set to High Performance and to ensure the PCI Express Link State Power Management is OFF so the system will run at max speeds.
  b. CPU/GPU is not overheating. You can use softwares like HWINFO and set it to Sensors Only to monitor the system
     - Link to picture
  c. If you notice that the CPU/GPU clockspeed is lowering down due to heat, try to use Throttlestop to prevent the unit from throttling and observe.

First of all, I wanted to drop BitDefender and use another program. I uninstalled it but now it's just stuck in my programs and features list and when I try to uninstall it, nothing happens. Its services are running 24/7 and I can't shut them down. When I try to uncheck them in selective startup, they recheck themselves as soon as I hit apply.

Also, I've been having issues with FPS lag in one of the games I play: Diablo 3. The game runs like a champ at a beautiful 60 FPS... and then suddenly it will drop to 4-8 FPS for seemingly no reason at all. My internet is staying steady and there's not always a lot of effects on the screen. It happens at pretty regular intervals of a few minutes and stays like that for about 5 seconds each time. During this, D3 uses gigantic amounts of my CPU for ??? reason. I should add that I was recently running 31x.xx drivers from Nvidia and it was way worse. Now that I updated to the latest driver it seems to be a LITTLE better with less frequent stutters, but still unplayable just as described.

Finally, my computer is way slower than it should be on startup. I used to run HJT and fix things myself because I thought I knew what I was doing... but then I broke my boyfriend's computer so I think that's not such a good idea. Anyway, here's my HJT log followed by my DxDiag log:

Hello everyone.
I've done this before once last year and you guys saved my computer.. thanks for that.
I'm here once again with a different dilemma.

I've noticed today that I got a warning from my windows telling me I did not have my firewall "on". I don't know what happened as I never touch those settings.. but I went to turn it back on and it won't let me.. all I get is an error msg saying something like.." Windows cannot start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing service.. ERROR 2 ".

I've also noticed (today) that when I click on a Google result link, it does not take me to the link address.. instead, in redirects me to another place (directory?).... also, when I have my browser open while reading something, it automatically opens a new tab on my browser transferring me to who knows where out of the blue I use FireFox.

Another problem is that I almost always do a scan with Spybot (S&D) and it always finds the SAME problems and destroys them, but the problems keeps coming back over and over again
something called "Gamevance.Playsushi".. I have killed that thing like 100 times per day with spy bot and it still keeps coming back... I have tried to uninstall these gamevance but they are no where to be found in my system... I also downloaded today something called "housecall" to do a scan and found NOTHING... I've also scanned it with AVAST home edition and found NOTHING.

Only Spybo... Read more

I have an HP Pavilion G6, (AMD A6 Vision quad core, AMD Radeon Graphics) running Win7 (64 bit) Home Premium that is giving me a couple issues: 1.  The laptop runs extremely hot.  (I know it has a single fan - so part of the issue).  I've burned myself a couple times when touching the left side where the vent is located.  Always use this with a USB cooling fan pad underneath now!  Is there anything to help cool it down more? 2.  I have my power settings set to maximize battery life.  When using my G6 on battery, it will abruptly shut off ( not giving the low battery warning) when the battery is still charged.  I've had it happen with as much as 78% battery still left and as low as 30% battery still left.  It seems to happen most frequently in the 50-60% range.  I'm only able to use it about 30 minutes unplugged.  I don't think that I have switchable graphics. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?  Cheers!K

Answer:HP Pavilion G6 Battery Issues & Heat Issues

Hello kja107,

Your laptop is getting to hot and the battery is not holding a charge.

The laptop may be shutting off because the system is getting too hot, not from the battery.

Go to HP .com and update the BIOS. This may help with the heat.

Here is a link to the update. You?ll need your product number.

You can find this information by holding the FN key and pressing the ESC key.

Make sure that there is no buildup of dust inside the computer by cleaning the vents with compressed air.

Here is a link to a document that will show you how to reduce heat.

Also here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.

I'm not sure if this is all part of the same problem but there are multiple things going on. On my laptop ( its an HP Pavilion DV6, with an intel core i3 CPU @ 2.20ghz, & 64 but operating system ) The only way i can get any sound to play is if I watch videos in my firefox browser. No sound will play when i use Chrome (which I prefer) or Itunes, or windows media player. The problem with watching videos in firefox is that there is about a 20 second delay before the video will play, and an error comes up to stop the plug in or continue. If you close out of that box the video will play but you will get the same delay every time it is paused and started again. Browsing in Chrome and playing videos from that browser there is absolutely no lag, its lightening fast, but you will not get any sound. Other simple programs ( Like solitaire) have the same lag, each card you click takes about 20 seconds for the move to actually take place. I've tried messing with my sound drivers to correct the audio issues but I am not sure if it is an audio issue, a flash player issue, or a combination. Any input?

I turned my computer on this morning and usually it does a simple whirring of the fans, a couple beeps and it's fine. This morning however, the fans kept whirring and whirring, with a blank screen- It wouldn't boot.

I manually rebooted and this time, it loaded, but didn't produce an input signal on the monitor.

I asked a forum I use for random questions and someone had a similar problem claiming it was the motherboard.

I don't want to replace a quad-core, is there anything else it could be? It booted fine this time around, but it seems that every morning it has issues to start with.

I recently updated Windows, but I don't think that would effect it, as it happened once before, I haven't updated graphics drivers recently though - a possibility?

Also, my internet keeps cutting out the reconnecting itself. I think it could be related.

This bugs me.

I've had to replace my HDD and my GFX card and now this?

-sigh-

I'd appreciate any input you guys have.

Specs coming up.

Hello Forum,

I have two removable disks.

One is write protected (D) - I want to know if you can alter that property.

I have just put them into my laptop and discovered the presence of New Folder - with a zip folder in it and another folder called Found. Want to know how that got created.

The other question I have is that the removable disks had the status of being shared and could be accessed via the network - I was wondering if I had done that correctly? I have attached what folders were shared prior and also a screen shot of what I unchecked to get it off the network.

I have been transferring data from one computer to another.

I have noticed that I have two new folders.

1> I have noticed that the folders have duplicated for some reason - maybe I copied and pasted.
2> One is write protected and the other is not.
3 > I have the situation that I have a - New Folder with a zip folder in it
and another folder called Found Folder.
4 > The removable disks were previously shared and I have gone in and changed the sharing as per my screen shots.

I have attached a copy of the situation - I would just like to know if there is any resolution to the above issues

Answer:Removable Disk Issues - Work through issues

Found folders are usually created when you run CHKDSK on a disk.

I end up with New Folder if I start to create a folder and then stop before I name it.

What type of external disks are they?

I'm not very experienced with Win2k but my boss needs help. Her computer is a Thinkpad A22m, pIII 600 mhz, 328mb ram. For some reason, the ethernet port on the back of the computer does not function...so we're using an old-school ethernet pcmcia card with adapter. The adapter seems to work fine...all three lights work properly, and when I look at the status of the LAN connection it seems to be sending packets and connecting fine. However, it's not receiving any packets at all, and it won't connect to any website. The adapter is a Linksys EtherFast 10/100 card. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

1)I'm having issues with my speakers not cutting off when I connect my headphones to them. The speakers are the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 PC set, and I have tried two different sets of headphones, plus the sound is full of static and buzzing. I've also tried re-installing/updating my onboard sound driver, but that doesn't help. I do notice that when I connect my headphones to the speakers that the sound emitted from the speaker will lower by 25% but will not fully cut off. I'm also having issues with the front panel headphone jack on my computer case (Antec 1200 V3). The sound coming out of the headphones when connected to the front panel is filled with static and buzzing. I have tried re-grounding the front panel ground connector, but that didn't change anything. However, if I connect the headphones directly to the back of the computer, the sound works fine.

2)When watching Youtube videos each video has a hard time buffering. My speed is at 10 Mbps and it registers at that speed when I do a speedtest, plus all other websites work fine, it's just Youtube that I'm having a problem with. I've cleared the cache and tried using a different browser, but nothing helps.

I have also ran Malwarebytes AntiMalware, SUPERAntiSpyware, neither yielded any harmful results.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Alright. About, lets say, two weeks ago, I couldn't log in to my laptop. First attempt brought me to the laptops "default" profile, which itself was giving errors about a certain graphics engine failing to start. I shut the sytem down and turned it back on, figuring it was just a once off issue. After that, I would continuously get an error that the "logon service was not available". After researching around for a bit, I learned that the cause was most likely profile corruption. Thankfully my laptop had created a restore point three days before, so I restored to that point and thought no more of the issue, considering it just a freak chance. However, today, I had a similar issue. This time around there were no graphics errors and a simple restart fixed it right away, but before I restarted I got a weird error, something about not being able to access the Toshiba HDD/SDD. Clicking the alert, I got a message box saying "dwRet=12", and then another error saying "Unable to get disk information, can not use the alert feature".My laptop is a (close to) 5 year old Toshiba Satellite running Windows 7. I'm starting to get a little worried, how should I go about preventing this from happening again in the near future?

Answer:Issues related to profile corruption, possible HDD/SDD issues?

You want to go to the website of your HD manufacturer, download their diagnostic utility, burn it to cd and run it.

Hello, I am posting this message on behalf of my girlfriend, she is experiencing a multitute of issues with her Lenovo Z500 Touch laptop. The computer came with Windows 8.1 installed and was very sluggish, I also noticed the lack of Nvidia graphics drivers installed dispite the large majority of people saying it does have Nvidia graphics. Because of the laptops sluggish nature I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit to see if 1. Performacnce would be improved and 2. If device manager would detect any graphics. No success, the machine slowed down even more and heres to me wondering if the HDD is an SSHD or I havent installed the correct drivers. I found the HDD was accessing heavily about 10minutes after the desktop appeared then things would speed up as the HDD stopped accessing. Games such as Sims 3 load very slowly and even Chrome and the startmenu icons fail to load when the HDD is in this "high activity" state. My main question about the Nvidia graphics  does every variant of the Z500 touch have dedicarted Nvidia graphics?  and if so how do i fix this issue because frame rates are low in games such as Sims 3 and even 1080p video on YouTube is struggling. Any advice or help on this problem would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much in advance! Main reason for posting this is because I feel slightly guilty for making a bad problem worse and I want to do all I can, I dont want my windows key to go to waste either because that was my last use on a ... Installing Win 7 only worsen the problem as you have found out and might introduced additional problem/problems in particular OKR functionalities. The video display is only rated 1377 x 768 so why are you running 1080p videos. 720p might be sufficient. Try backing up all your personal data. Then power down the unit. Press the novo button near the power jack. Select from the menu "System Recovery". In the succeding menu select "Restore to factory condition". Follow instructions. If you can restore it to factory condition then your intoroduction of Win 7 has not done the stated additional new problem.

The problem I am having with Age of Mythology(and all my games for that matter) is nobody outside my network can access my home pc's. My home pc's can game together with no problem. What I am trying to do is "host" a game using 1 of my 2 pc's and have other people connect to me. Netgear tech support is worthless and they keep giving me a guy who hardly speaks english and reads off Que cards. They keep telling me I need to turn on port forwarding and that I have to contact the game manufacturer to get those numbers and after all that only 1 of my 2 pc's can be accessed. There has got to be a way I can "host" a game from my house and have people connect to me. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to fix some problems on a client's Compaq Presario V6000 running Windows XP Home Edition. I think a full reinstall of the OS may be necessary but am having problems even with that. My preference, of course, is to fix the problems below without having to reinstall the OS. I have pulled off some of the client's data but since I cannot get it to read a blank CD, an external drive or a large 2.0 flash drive I have not been able to back up everything. It will read a 1GB flash drive of an earlier generation. (Of course the client had no backups and had never done a system restore point - see below regarding my clientele.)

The current problems are:
1. Setup from a Windows Home Edition CD cannot see the HD: "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer". (I had hoped to set up a partition and reinstall the OS and then bring the user data over to the new install and then nuke the old one. I have done that before on a Dell that got caught in the isass.exe snafu when XP SP2 came out. I had also hoped to run Windows repair from setup to see if that would fix the problems on the current OS install.)
1.5 The Windows XP Home Edition CD is one I have that is a stand alone. It is not an OEM disk. I don't know if that matters. There are no recovery disks for this computer and since it will not see a blank CD in the drive I cannot make one.
2. The computer cannot connect to the Internet (wired or wireless).
3. I can now boo... Read more

Toshiba Satellite A205 laptop running Vista Home PremiumVista seemed to be loading okay, but a lot of applications would not start. Some would, but trying to open device manager, malware bytes, and some other programs or tools would not work. I'd double click and the system would just sit there as if I did nothing. Loading into Safe Mode with Networking works fine and that's where I'm having to run programs and such.I ran Spybot and Malware Bytes and got a few things that I cleaned. After cleaning those, now regular booting loads Vista fine, I login, but then just get a black screen with nothing.I have no previous backups or images to load from. Startup repair is finding no problems. This is my sister's computer and I'm waiting on her to mail me her recovery disks. There are three major issues I have with my laptop, and I was wondering if anyone else had them too.. I have not contacted dell support yet, but I will in the following weeks if I don't somehow figure out what's is going on myself.
I've had my laptop for a little bit under 2 months, so these are the things I have noticed.
Issue number 1: When you plug in the power cord into the computer, the screen freezes on what it is currently on. I noticed this issue because occasionally when I plug in my power cord, and try to use the mousepad to select something, the mouse pointer is gone! I have to unplug-replug the power cable to get the mouse pointer to show again. I have no idea what the cause of this issue is. It seems to have to do with the screen
Issue number 2: when I carry my E7440 around in my bad, or have it shut for long periods of time >3 hours (I just simply close the lid), the computer will SHUT DOWN. The thing will shut down completly, even though I simply closed the lid! At first I thought it was just going into hibernate, so I disabled hibernate in my power settings. But nope, even when the computer is asleep, it will occasionally shut it self down for no reason at all.
Just now, I closed the lid on my laptop, and put in in my bag, then walked to my office about 10 minutes away. When I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop, to my surprise, it had shut down by itself! All of my open windows, browsers, and applications were closed, and upon ... Read more

Answer:E7440 - sleep Issues and display issues

Update by original poster! This does not work!
PARTIAL FIX
1. Press F2 when booting and go to setup.
2. Go to Power options and disable the "block sleep" feature .
3. Save and reboot.
4. The system seems to now go into hibernate when closing the lid.
5. In fact in Windows, you can't see the sleep option anymore.
This takes longer to wake up the laptop but at least all work is intact.
Let me know if it helps you.

I installed Ubuntu on my Toshiba R15 Tablet, decided I wanted my HD space back. Deleted the Ubuntu partition. On restart I got the infamous GRUB LOADER 1.7 error.
I then used kill disk to zero out the HD. Upon start up with no OS I just got one word: GRUB. (my favorite word now)

I couldn't boot into the Bios because it loaded the error before I could do anything then if I did manage to get F2 hit it would just hang.

I took apart the laptop unplugged my CMOS and restarted (knowing it would boot right to Bios to have time set) Fixed it to look for my CD/DVD drive if it didn't find the OS.

It finally let me boot to a disk.
I put in my XP sp3 disk.... installed windows and got:
INTEL BOOT Agent v 4.1.16 blah blah copyright yada yada

PXE-E61: Media Test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent
Insert system disk in drive.
Press any key when ready.

Again I can't get into the BIOS.
If I boot from my XP disk or Ultimate Boot CD [UBCD] I can boot out into XP fine but on restart I get the same error.
If I try to re-install windows it wants floppies for recovery console and gives me no option to repair the existing XP install only to format and reinstall.
Taking me in circles.
I was originally trying to perform either FDISK/MBR or FIXMBR but I can't get into a place to do this.

I ran Gujin boot tool from off the UBCD and it gave me this info:

It says it finds 4 disks
0: ide master size 75GB partition 1
1: atapi master 11... Read more

Answer:XP boot issues - MBR issues - Long History

Did you try this
1. Restart your computer with the Windows XP Setup disk in the CDROM drive.
2. Press the R key to start the Recovery Console.
3. Enter "1" which should be your Windows XP installation
4. If you set an Administrator password you will be asked for it now.
5. At the Recovery Console command prompt, type fixmbr and then verify that you want to proceed.
6.If your system still doesn't boot properly, repeat the steps above, but issue the fixboot command instead.

A friend of mine recently received a Y50-70 that came pre-installed with Windows 8.1. However, not being a fan of 8.1, they wanted to have 7 on there instead. The clean installation runs fine. However, the Nvidia driver says that it is not compatible. We tried both the Lenovo page and Nvidia's site, and neither work (using auto-scan on Nvidia just tells us to come here).I've tried everything that I can think of to try to get the installations to work, but to no avail. Formatting/deleting partitions and reinstalling Windows 7 (thinking that it was a past partition/driver issue) yeilded the same result. Why  would this problem be occuring? For reference: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y50-70-n...And the drivers page: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-y-series-laptops/y50-70-n...

I have two computers, both recently installed with windows 7.

One is 32 bit, the other is 64 bit.

I have come accross a few problems.

Firstly when i rename desktop icons they disappear. This is a gamble, dosnt happen all the time. Over time they will reapear.

Also when using adobe dreamweaver.... using an external style sheet.. every time i change a style on the external style sheet it takes several minutes for it to change or update. This happens on both computers.

All help is appriciated and needed very much!

Thanks!

Ok,Here is the issue with this sound card. First off it's a nice Diamond (great cards) Xtreme Sound 5.1. The problem I have with it is it's affected by certain videos. Youtube it plays fine.....until you go into Full Screen mode, then it's garbled...you can't make it out what anyone is saying during play back in F\S mode. Another problem I have is Encoding videos do the exact same thing!

Last night I downloaded a freeware program that was on my old box called "Panzera mp4 to avi converter 1.3" it's a great program. My Camera uses the Mp4 format and I am not too fond of quicktime just to run that format. The reason I am trying to convert them is to kill the file size and make "nolstalgia" DvD for the family. the Mp4 plays fine however,no sound problems in the original clip.

My video and sound cards are up to date, My video card is a Geforce 8400 GS. Running on a AMD Athlon 64 processor at 2.20 ghz with 1 gb of ddr. Anyone ever had this problem? I tried Divx and Xvid thinking it was a codec problem. boy was I wrong. any suggestions is welcomed.

Answer:Sound issues and some video issues

Bump

Update:This isn't really an update but I found out something weird. My video playback with Wmv,Mpeg,Avi,Asf ETC. is always garbled. No matter if it's online or on the computer the playback audio is garbled. What could be causing this. I uninstalled,re-installed Diamond Xtreme soundcard drivers. I installed DirectX9.0c, I have Divx and Xvid codecs. My sound drivers are up to date. I unhooked the onboard sound and uninstalled sound max after buying the Diamond. A friend told me I should disable the onboard sound entirely but I can't find the option in the bios. My mother board is a "Asus A8x socket 939" board. Any helps please? I am desperate!

I would have put this in Operating Systems but I dunno if it's Vista's fault... which I'm pretty well 99% it is... even tho if it can be fixed then doesn't matter.
Firefox - Can't connect to anything
IE 32-Bit - Can't connect to anything
MSN/AIM - Can't connect to Servers
CMD - can ping just fine...

IE 64-Bit - Connects just fine and that's what I'm connecting on here with right now...
No firewall... no Windows Defender... the only thing on is NOD32 and I know that's not doin it cause it's on my other computer too.

6+ other computers connect fine on my network so I know it's not router or wiring...

MSN crashes, Firefox crashes... reinstalled firefox did nothing... AIM just won't connect... what could be causing all this? It happend 1 other time on another computer... formatted and put XP on it... I'd rather not do that on this comp cause the 2 64-bit games I have run clean and smoothly... HGL runs way better on 64... smoother no crashes or slowness...
And I don't know enough about XP-64 to really push me to try it...

Hi, I am having some display issues, please see screenshots. It happened maybe twice in the past week, but "fixed itself". This time it would not fix itself.... I recently had to replace my hard drive. Any advice will be appreciated! Update: I just turned laptop off and flipped it over, and flipped it back again, turned it back on, and it is OK again.maybe something is a bit loose? But what....lol...please advise, thanks so much!

Answer:screen display issues issues

Hi @pierette, Thank you for your query I understand that you are having an issue with the display quality.  When the image was distorted you powered off the notebook and flipped it upside down and then upside right. When you started the notebook the display was fine. You have recently replaced the hard drive and now you thing something may be loose.  I would try removing and reseatting the graphic card and check the display cable connection to ensure a proper connection.  Here is a link to  HP Notebook PCs - Diagnosing a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) for Damage. Please let me know the outcome. Thanks! If this helps you to reach a solution, please click the "Accept as Solution"button down below in this message. If you wish to say "thanks" for my effort to help, click the "Thumbs Up" to give me a Kudos. :catvery-happy

Hi. My first time posting here, and I hope I did it in the right spot. If not, please cut me some slack...I actually did spend a significant amount of time looking for the relevant place.

So, basically, using Outlook Express with a Road Runner cable modem, linksys router...need to check email from third-party webmail server for my website. spent hours on the phone with road runner tech support because I was getting the following:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.thewelldressedcookie.com', Server: 'smtp-server.nyc.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

(don't laugh at my website's name!)

Anyway, so after much ado we did the cmd of netsh winsock reset, and yay, it worked...for like 20 minutes. So, I did the reset again, rebooted and it worked again, but then stops. If I reboot without resetting it first it doesn't work. So, there must be something I'm missing here..and if anyone knows what it is, that would be very helpful. I'm using eset's NOD32 anti-virus and they swear it's not their software. I'm going crazy over all this because I know how to do stuff, but I"m not always certain what it all means. So, someone direct, and I will follow....thank you!

Whenever I am trying to play FIFA 11 on my pc the screen starts to flicker badly And washes out. My pc config is Ci3 4150 , nvidia gt 610 graphics, 500gb hdd, windows 10 pro . all the drivers are up to date . another issue is sometimes it says lan cable disconnected even when connected. There are many little bugs too like sometimes cant type into google chrome address bar. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Answer:Windows 10 issues display issues

Keep in mind that there are a lot of people with issues getting the proper graphics drivers installed for Windows 10 right now. I can't help with the other issues, but I do know that NVidia and AMD both need to work on drivers for Windows 10. The driver may say it is up to date because the new one isn't available yet. You may want to see if there is a beta driver you can try.
