Windows Phone 8.1 Bing Search shows wrong larger image of search result thumbnails

Question: Windows Phone 8.1 Bing Search shows wrong larger image of search result thumbnails

Windows Phone 8.1 Bing Image Search Broken by not correctly displaying larger image of thumbnails of any images not in the first group of searched images.
So if you search balloons in Windows Phone you find images of balloons, and in the first group if you click any thumbnail of an image the larger image of that thumbnail shows correctly.
But if you go to the second group of images, under the other suggested search topics links seen at the bottom of the first group of images all the thumbnails are there displayed of the second group of images, but if you click one it incorrectly displays the corresponding image from the next group of images down as the larger thumbnail.
Meaning if in the upper left of the 2nd group of images I pick the very first thumbnail image and click it, instead of showing the larger image I expect [like it does with the first group of searched images] it shows the larger images of another thumbnail, it shows the first image in the upper left of the third group of images as the larger thumbnail.
So its off... The images are not properly synchronized. Only in the first group of searched images are the thumbnail and the larger images synchronized. The only way to find the larger image is to select the last thumbnail image in the first group, and when it displays start to scroll through all the images full size one at a time. That really sucks! This just broke the day after Robin Williams dies. Prior to that it worked perfectly for all thumbnails.

Preferred Solution: Windows Phone 8.1 Bing Search shows wrong larger image of search result thumbnails

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Before updating to the windows 10 anniversary, The search result would displayed in a versatile shape, By that I mean in some folders I would have the search result to display in detail mode and in some folders in big thumbnail mode, and the next time I would run the search in the same place they would display in the previously seen mode.
This is no longer the case, The search result always displays in thumbnail forum. How can I change this?

Answer:Search result thumbnails issue

Hi, if I search a folder in file explorer, and set the display to, say, medium icons, and close explorer, and then repeat that with a different folder, but set the search results to, say, Details, then if I go back to the first folder and do a search, the display is medium icons. The same with the other folder.

I.e. the format is remembered.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums. Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again. Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Please post the contents of log.txt. Thank you for your patience. Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem. If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped. Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so. Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Hi,
This is my first post here but I have been on the site before to get help by browsing other members posts & advice. I now, for the first time, am so stuck on what to do to solve this problem that I'm requesting some help myself. PLEASE HELP!!
The problem is that in both Firefox & Internet explorer (I haven't tried other browsers) the results of any search in either Google or Bing are being redirected to junk/ad sites (mostly - but sometimes even ebay or youtube). I then have to click the Back button & clicking the link a second time then takes me to where it should do. This is most annoying!!
So far i have run Avira Antivirus & found nothing. SpyHunter finds nothing. MalwareBytes will only run in safe mode & finds nothing. ComboFix will only run in safemode & does not solve the issue. I have edited my Hosts file to remove a HUGE list of spam sites to leave only this entry: 127.0.0.1 localhost. Also, this may be unrelated but my copy of CopyToDVD stopped working around the same time this issue started. My PC just freezes when I try use this program & I need to switch off with the main power button. Again, this my be unrelated to the search links problem.
Anyway - any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul.

I had a probem with my Toshiba Satellite from 2002 with the Windows XP Search Companion Search Result Window (the one with the animated dog in the corner) popping up randomly, causing screen to flicker, when you tried to closed it just kept opening more and more of the same window. Would not let you access it or anything. I had my OS reinstalled Dec 2008 and it worked fine until now, then just started up again. This laptop is used by my Mom just to play the card games it comes with from Win XP, not internet access, no flash drive useage etc. So virus, malware etc could not be the problem. This time I decided to reinstall the recovery disks (3) myself. First I removed and reinstalled the ram memory card and the harddrive. I also lifted the front of the laptop 2" and let drop to the desk (in case a key was stuck) Then did Toshiba reinstall, so harddrive was reformatted etc., BUT, the little dog just persisted in appearing over & over. I went on line and found a few suggestions. I followed this persons suggestion: http://www.peeniewallie.com/2006/01/disable_search.html
and disabled search companion, there are other areas in the registry to disable also, but I went with this way.
Whatever was causing this problem is now corrected. I figured that if you disable the window using search companion with the little dog the problem could not occur. You can still use search though. I read somewhere on the internet that the little animated dog can become corrupt... Read more

When i search any CD in my new WinXP installation, it is adding the user profile path to the actual path of the file being searched on the CD.

Eg: Actual file location is G:\Stuff\test.txt

Search shows wrong the path as below:

C:\Documents and Settings\Siva\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\CD Burning\Stuff\test.txt

Also, the file becomes inaccessible from the search results page.

I wonder that this could be a virus. But when i searched using antivirus, no virus is found.

Just started this today! Ordinarly I can search a keyword and select "images" in Bind which gives me a scrollable screen full of images. Tapping on an image normally pulls the image up so you can view it or save it. Today however, the screen goes blank with a "searching" message then just goes back to the main screen of images. I have reset the phone, pulled sim card out rebooted etc. I cant figure out if this is my phone or a glitch with bing on their end....very frustrating!

Answer:Why can't I view pictures from Bing Image Search?

It is working for me (SW Missouri).
Given the abrupt departure from the norm, I would say it is a server error for your region/area. Hopefully it clears up soon.

I've been an avid user of Google for a long time, and just recently began searching with bing as well when I need to find something, especially images or video, since Bing seems to be better at that.
I use both Firefox and Opera daily on my desktop, and I realized that Bing's Image Search pages look 100% different when viewed on Opera.
When viewed with Firefox or Chrome, Bing Image search has full options for filtering images, size/type/color/layout/people/etc...
But when viewed with Opera, none of that is available. It is a simple page of just image results, with a search bar at the top a footer at the bottom. Nothing more. Any ideas? I would like to use the full-featured search in Opera if possible.

Answer:Why does bing image search look different in opera than firefox and chrome?

I don't have opera installed, so cannot test, but it sounds like opera is triggering the mobile version of the page.
When I used to use opera, it used to have lots of settings that would help you conserve your data, and viewing mobile version of a web page was one of them.

If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. Bing search front page is locking up. Search is still possible, but none of the clickable links work! The cursor doesn't even change from an arrow to a pointer finger on a mouseover. It's frustrating to lose that capability all of a sudden. The weird part is that in the few seconds between the lower "bar" rising and docking itself, the links work as normal. Once that bar is in place, the page is dead, save for the direct search capability. The "bar" (for lack of a better word) is that thing that comes up with "Popular Now" "Search History" "Images" etc.The little nuggets of wisdom for the daily image don't come up either.Any ideas?Firefox 18.0.1, Windows 7 32bit.

I think the Bing bar comes as part of win 7 install on a lot of computers so you should find it in add remove programs
and be able to uninstall it from their.

The problem is any search website comes up with page can't be found: Google.com, Bing.com, Yahoo.com comes up but when I try a search it does nothing. I have no issues going to any other website, just search websites.

I have a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011 and no third party firewall.

AVG scan is clean. Malwarebytes scan is clean. Ccleaner has been run. I have reset IE 8 settings to default. I have flushed the DNS. I have run HiJackThis and don't see any problems. I have checked the host file and there are no strange entries.

I need to know what to try next. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thank you.

You know where it says www.techspot.com. Yes it has taken it over. There is no bing addon, extension or remove program. I followed a few guides I found googling and they only work until I restart FF. My old search engine was Google in the address bar.

Answer:Bing has taken over as my default search address bar in Firefox, search provider

In the address bar where it says your search program. Drop down the menu there. You should be able to switch it back to Google

In early December, started getting redirect from Google search results. On clicking search result, get redirected to other search engines (including porno) and occassionally direct to a site. Only my profile (which is the admin profile) was affected. Also lost Windows update and McAfee update functions.

Restored the McAfee updating late December with the help of McAfee Technical Support by manually inserting two IP addresses in a file (driver?).

Early this week, children reported similar redirects on their profiles when using myspace. (Parental controls now successfully blocking the unsavourily sites.) The other profile on the machine appears unaffected.
Remain unable to connect to Windows update site.

I have followed the instructions I think successfully and attach the logs.
I would be very greatful if you can clear this problem particularly from the kids profiles.

Answer:Google search result redirects to other search engines

Hello and welcome to TSF

Apologises for the delay getting to your log. The helpers here are all volunteers and we have been very busy lately. If you are still having malware problems, follow instructions below.

=============

Download HijackThis to your desktop

Alternate link

Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.

Should it not open, navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Do not post that log, instead, do this next:

Please run Deckard System Scanner(DSS) once again, thanks.

I would appreciate any advice on how to fix this..My computer caught a virus and screwed up the admin account. I managed to get that bug removed. Since then, I have problems when I click the results from search engines. When I click search results, I get sent to different sites. I typically use Google Chrome but it's happened on Bing as well. For example, I did a google search on "virus removal". So I've been using the Google search engine forever. Since the changing the default search engine in Edge is buried in Advanced Setting and way near the bottom, I didn't do it right away. However, yesterday I came across a post on how to change the default search engine in Edge so I changed it to Google without delay.
But then every search came up with an annoying message box in the upper right-hand corner telling me to install Chrome. After half an hour I had gotten so tired of it, I switched it back to Bing.

Answer:Switched Default Search Engine in Edge from Bing to Google and Back to Bing after Half an Hour

Originally Posted by mrmobileperformance But then every search came up with an annoying message box in the upper right-hand corner telling me to install Chrome That's because Google detects which browser you are using and then decides that you should be using Chrome. I've seen it happen quite often when you visit google.co.uk etc when using someone else's PC, but isn't there a tickbox to tell it not to display again?
I tried changing Edge to Google, but I don't get any message for some reason?

I have been using Bing for a while now as my start page because I like the pictures. But I no longer want to see the news strip at the bottom. Is there any way to turn that off, without having to sign in to a Microsoft account? If not is there any other search engine start page that gives a daily image?

Thank you for your help!

Answer:Turn off the news on Bing search or alternative to Bing?

If you use Chrome, the "Bing wallpaper for Google homepage" will do what its title says. I don't seem to be able to find something similar for Firefox or Internet Explorer. Add-on developers, please take note - this would be REALLY popular.

Edit: and when I actually checked the link, it seems to have been taken down. Guess Microsoft didn't like that. =(

Today, Microsoft said its advertisers will be able to target users not just on Web search results pages but directly inside Windows Smart Search. David Pann, general manager of Microsoft?s Search Advertising Group, said in an interview that advertisers don?t have to do additional setup to participate. The Smart Search ads will feature a preview of the websites the ad will send people to, as well as click-to-call info and site links, which are additional links under the main result that direct users deeper into a website to the most likely page they might want.Click to expand...

Answer:Microsoft To Add Bing Ads To Windows 8.1 Search

Let you decide..

Let me explain, first from the work perspective: say I wanted to run the useful desktop utility known as the Driver Store Explorer (rapr.exe, a CodePlex project that jumps into your Windows Driver store and tells you what it finds there, and even lets you delete unwanted or superfluous drivers from the store). By searching on the filename, rapr.exe, the search results will provide a link right to the program if it?s on my PC. If it?s not, it will take me to the home page for the product documentation, where I can click the ?download? link there to grab what I want with a single click. Incredibly convenient.

Another explanation, this time from the leisure angle: say I wanted to watch a video of ?Young Indiana Jones.? If I search on that term, and there?s a video on my PC that matches the search term already, it will take me straight to it. If not, I will be able to access any of a number of download links on YouTube from whence I can grab whichever of the 23 episodes that are available online that I might care to watch. Way cool!Click to expand...

Try running the search troubleshooter. Normally I'd say find 'troubleshoot' in the search box, but in your case, look for it in...

Problem solved I had to uncheck "Always show icons, never thumbnails" in folder option --> View Tab and restart computer.

How do I customize search result columns in File Explorer? For example, I would always like to see the Date Created column in all my searches. I have tried using tips for earlier Windows versions, but Windows 10 seems to have disabled the "Apply to Folders" button in the View tab of the Folder Options window for search results.

This started happening two nights ago. When I search for an image in Google Images it brings up a list of images, but when I click on any of those images instead of the regular image preview page, it shows me a blank page with the title: "Redirect Notice" and the following text below it:

Quote:

The previous page is sending you to http://www.link.

If you do not want to visit that page, you can return to the previous page.

I searched online for a solution and some suggested deleting your coockies, Internet history and temporart files, which I did with no result. I even reset my computer to an earlier time but it didn't help.

This happens nearly all the time in Internet Explorer (ver. 9.0.8112). It doesn't happen as often in Firefox (ver. 14.0.1) but when I was testing the other day I saw it a few times in that browser too. I have run all the scans and attached the necessary files to this post. Below is my DDS.txt log. Any help is appreciated.

Answer:Google Image search shows "Redirect Notice" upon click

Forgot to mention. The link in the blank page does actually take me to the image's website. This is not a case of redirecting to a different page. Similarly return to the previous page takes me back to the list of images. So it isn't preventing me from getting to the actual image but it robs me of the features the image preview page provides.

Is it possible to make image thumbnails within a folder larger than the "extra large" option without lowering the screen resolution?

I'm a designer and constantly sifting through folders of dozens of images. With my new Surface Book the resolution is so high that the "Extra Large" image thumbnails are too small. On my last laptop the images would get so big that only 3-4 would fit horizontally in the window. Now 9-10 are packed in the same viewing area.

Answer:Larger than "Extra Large" image thumbnails without lower resolution??

Really need a screenshot., What resolution are you using?

I am using windows XP as my OS.

Recently my thumbnails have been displaying the wrong images. This seems to be across the board and affects all folders in each of my hard-drives. It first started out that when I opened a folder with blank/manila image and then closed it, it would then display a image of some random thumbnail from some other folder and then adopt that image as it's default thumbnail image. Now the folders just display wrong thumbnails regardless if they have been opened or not. I have tried thumbnails refresh, didn't work. I tried deleting the thumbnail.db for a folder, that didn't work either.

What solution is there to correct this? I have probably thousands of folders that display the wrong images in thumbnail view.

Answer:Solved: Thumbnails display wrong image

Good afternoon,

When I highlight text on a webpage and then Right Click it shows "Search with Yahoo! Search" just below Print preview....
I can't seem to get rid of it.
I don't have Yahoo Toolbar or anything Yahoo installed that I can find.
I have run CCleaner and Advanced System Care etc.
Any ideas will be greatfully accepted.

Kind regards,

Answer:Highlight & Right Click Text On Webpage Shows "Search With Yahoo! Search"

Welcome
You most likely have your default search engine set to Yahoo. Mine is set to Google and when I right click I get the option to search with Google. If you do not want to have Yahoo appear, change your default search engine to Bing, Google or some other.

Hi guys, thanks ahead of time first off. This is odd, just tonight I got on Google Image Search and noticed that after showing all the thumbnails, once a thumbnail is clicked upon, it takes me right to the page without ever showing that 1 inch deep tab at the top it usually would stating "View Image in Full Size" and image my be copyrighted etc.... I have never seen this before. I rebooted the comp and it still does the same thing. I used system restore to a week ago and that solved the problem bringing the bar back LoL....but I had to undo it as the resotre caused a problem with my McAfee Antivirus! Arghhh....
Is this a simple settings thing I can fix? I am curious if it's a Google thing or an Internet Explorer 7 thing... I have Windows XP and its a Dell computer. On our other older computer it comes up normal with the bar as it always would on this one. I am not terrible computer literate but try my best. You guys always help out, so I appreciate this very much.

Thanks a ton again,

-Mike

Answer:Solved: Bizzare...Google Image Search no longer shows option "View Full Size"...

Well I spoke too soon....I apologize, I was going to delete this post but figured I would add what fixed it. I went to Yahoo and did an image search, and found that it gives you the "Full Size" option just like Google does. Then I shut the browser and fired up Google to mess with it more and Low and Behold it worked fine....what the heck LoL! Oh well it's fixed!

I have used the programs Avg Free 9.0, Super Antispyware, McAffee Security, Malwarebytes, Trojan Remover 6.8.1. I have found infections in some of these but i haven't seemed to find what is causing the problems stated above. If someone could further assist me with my problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

When I site search a specific term (e.g., abc123) on Google, it shows a few results on the Google page with the abc123 search term listed on the desired/site page. However, when I click on that link to the desired page and search on it, the abc123 term is not found.

The abc123 search term is somewhere on this page, but I cannot view it. Is there any way I can extract this data and see the information?

Thank you.

well, the domain name explains the OS, but I am fully patched with Windows Search 4.0 on my laptop. either way of searching for files 1) Start Search in the start menu 2) CRTL-F and doing a search Any and all files are unrecognized; yes...doc, docx, chm, exe, pdf, xls, xlsx, everything. If I double-click on any file it opens a dialog box asking which application i would like to open the file in...I select the application and click open and nothing opens, the dialog just goes away. I dont have any modifications to search of any kind. It was fine before I installed Search 4.0 when it was released, I have been too lazy to really look into it. It does however allow me to right-click any file and select Open Containing Folder and goes to the folder in Explorer where I can double-click any file and it will open in the correct application. Thoughts? Thanks Robert

Ditch Windows Search and use Everything Desktop Search instead. It's much better than Windows Search.

When opened, let Everything populate then type in your search term.

I know this doesn't help you pin down the issue you are having but Everything is an excellent alternative. I've been using it for a long time and it has been ages since I used the Windows search function.

I just got back from my company's corporate shutdown and just noticed that the Windows 7 desktop search is no longer showing applications in the results.

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a PC one of my users seriously messed up.

Some background: Last week the user told me that when they searched for things in Google or Bing, they would click on the results and would be redirected to another webpage. Red flags went up and I know it was a redirect, I've cleaned them up before. Ran the usual tools, and Kaspersky's TDSSKiller. It found nothing. Ran Malware Bytes, found a couple things, removed, and after that all was right in the world. Fast forward to yesterday, browser redirect is back, unfortunately didn't have time to take a look it. Today things have progressed to worse. My user got a popup from Symantec Endpoint Protection with infections, and having to reboot the machine to remove, so she clicked reboot. Since the reboot the machine has hidden all icons, a fake scanner called S.M.A.R.T. Disk Check will run and tell you you're infected, and I'm having issues running any of the usual AV Tools.

I've since been able to run UNHIDE, so I can see the programs again, but I need some help to remove this infection!

Will follow all directions and I'm fairly knowledgeable about computers.

Windows XP SP3

The virus that comes up in Normal Mode is one that is called: Data Recovery S.M.A.R.T. Repair

Question: Bing search engine

Can someone please help me? I have just registered on here, at the suggestion of someone from Firefox help forums. I am a senior person (still working) I have some pc knowledge, but not to technical especially with in depth stuff.

My problem is I have FF as my default browser, with Google as my home page, everything was wine till about 72 hours ago. when i typed something into google results came up in google search, but now (and I have made no changes I dont dabble or touch settings because i do not understand them) all my search results are returned in bing instead of google, and I hate it.
I have tried resetting to default in firefox, Ive have manually removed Bing, from the search engine list that FF uses, it shows on that page that google is default search engine, but everything still comes up in bing. I saw online that cortania can have bing as they are both microsoft, so I found out how to disable cortania and remove what is held on me in the cloud, but no change.

Several suggestions from FF help forum have not stopped bing coming up, so the last thing that was suggested was as follows( I had to ask for simple to follow instructions)
went off line, then in url bar typed about:config, accepted the liabilty, by hitting the button, then in aboutcnfig search area typed in Bing, three lines came up that had the word Bing, so I right clicked each one then left clicked modify then changed the word bing for google, I then came out of it (as I was told) went back to my home... Question: Forced Bing Search

I may or may not have an issue, as I have only moderate knowledge of the workings of my computer, and would ask if anyone would be willing to give me a once over. I have tried to reset my Firefox's default search engine to Google twice now and it refuses to stick. I had this problem once before with a Privitize VPN forced search, so I took a look around in my about:config and found something that disturbed me; I have a few instances of Babylon.com search popping up in places I don't understand, and as I know that that is linked with Privitize VPN I'm a little worried, not to mention the fact that I am being forced to search with Bing though my address bar.

I hope this made sense, but if not, still help please?

Looks like MS Bing is on a winning wicket! It has now entered into an agreement with the folks at Opera to make Bing one of the default search engine choices in the new beta.
To pick Bing as your default search engine, just click the drop-down menu in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the browser, and pick Bing from the list.

Hi all, my computer appears to be infected with a redirect virus. When I perform a search on Bing and click a link my browser gets redirected to a site I didn't choose. I'm operating Windows Vista with Microsoft Security Essentials. I ran Malwarebytes and AdAware and neither program found anything. Below is my DDS log and I've attached the Attach and GMER logs as requested. If you need any other info please ask. Thank you!

The Truth About Microsoft's Market Research....

China is clearly the biggest marketing opportunity in the world, with a growing economy and billions of potential customers. Most Chinese speak Mandarin, sort of a universal language that connects all their ethnicities and language groups. They also like Fortune Cookies, don't we all? That's why I was quite surprised, when I opened my latest fortune cookie, and turned it over for the Mandarin lesson:

They must know what they're doing.......right???

I'm having issues with search redirects. It doesn't seem to matter what search engine or browser I use, and it doesn't happen with every search, but it does happen often enough to be highly annoying and potentially dangerous. I'm running Vista Home Premium (64-bit).

For the last 4 days, I've been getting random search redirects and redirects to random webpages when selecting search results on google or yahoo search. This occurs in multiple browsers: IE, Safari, and Firefox, all up to date as of 1 week ago.

I've checked ask.com, and the behavior does not appear to be happening there.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium. I do not have disks for reinstall, it was an upgrade from Vista. I do still have the factory recovery partition for Vista and my upgrade disks for 7 if those become necessary.

I've gone through the steps for disabling virtual disk software drivers with defogger and downloading kapersky's tdsskiller, it came up with no results. I have not reenabled the Virtual drives.
I've run Sophos rootkit and anti virus scanners, they both found a couple of results, but the issue persists
I've run Hitman, it also found three threats, but no resolution.

I've included the DDS and Attach.txt files as instructed by the preparation guide, this log was taken after all the previous steps, no further tools have been used since.

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the ... Every time I search up something on google, 8/10 times, the links are directed to a random websites. It is usually first directed to globalsearch.info, but then is directed to a random website. I have already run a superantispyware scan with no results, and have also scanned my computer with VIPRE antivirus, with no results. It is getting very annoying, as I am a student, and have to use the search engine quite a lot.

When I do a search through Yahoo or Google, I am getting results that point to other search engines or sites that sell things. This only started recently. I had the about:blank thing and it is corrected. When I search with Alta Vista or AOL, it works fine. I have checked RegEdit and have corrected somethings there, but it still does it. The same search on other PCs work fine, so it is only my PC at home. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Are you using these basic security programs?a? free - a complementary product to antivirus software which is specialized in protection against harmful software. Antivirus software often features an inadequate protection against Trojans, Dialers and Spyware. a? fills this gap.Ad-Aware - A good program similar to SpyBot S & D.Spybot S&D - Detects and removes spyware, of different types, from your computer.SpywareBlaster - A good program that prevents spyware from being installed on your computer in the first place. This program is always running in the background, protecting your computer. It prevents the installation of bad active X controls found in web pages.SpywareGuard - A nice compliment to SpywareBlaster. This allows you the option to prevent downloads that contain bad active X controls. If not, you need to. These programs, updated and used regularly, will do a lot to keep your computer clean of spyware, trojans, keyloggers, browser hijackers, etc...Download them, update them, and then run them.Important:Please read this tutorial on Spybot S&D before using it. It started three days ago. I went on google to look up something on wikipedia. When I went to go click on the search result; I ended up with a new tab opening up on Firefox with an ad unrelated to what I was looking for. With every search I did, when I clicked on a search result, from any search engine, I would get an ad unrelated to what I searched for.

I had bookmarked my favorite sites, so I could still go to those. It's only if I go through the search engine does that happen.

I looked up a possible answer and they said it could be a trojan/malware.

I can run Ad-Aware and that didn't bring up anything. The only other thing that I have for security is the Windows Firewall. (I don't want to pay for all-time protection from Norton. Too expensive for all of our computers)

The only reason why I can even bring up possible sites on the computer is to look up an answer on the laptop and then type in the site, that they say should work, address in the address bar.

Well, the computer is preventing online scans. (PandaScan or something similar said that the computer was in moderate danger, but then I lose connection if I try and download the things necessary for the scan)

SpyBot and MalwareBytes won't run/open. HijackThis did, thankfully.

The computer is slightly slower, but when you try and look up something on a search engine it takes a lot longer. The only thing that seems to speed up the computer is if you restart.... but then it slowly gets slower.
