Preferred Solution: Unable to check the check box dynamically in listbox in wp7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The problem start with my wife's PC. It started a few weeks ago she told me. She can't open Outlook Express (doesn't start), access My Space or get updates at Windows Update. Also some images on sites do not load.

I then checked my PC and found, I couldn't access Windows Update, My Space, Thunderbird fails to retrieve emails. I have not noticed any issues with images.

Given this sounded like some of the behaviors I have heard of trojans doing I thought I would post my logs here and see if anyone sees anything out of place. Normally I wouldn't consider a cross contamination but about two weeks I temporarily set up a home network between our PCs to share a few files. The next day I disabled NetBIOS on my PC but as we are both behind a hardware firewall, I guessing if it happened it must have happened then.

Nothing jumps out at me but I wanted to get a second opinion.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, i have hp pavilion g6 laptop and its upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 then windows 10.  From last few days i was getting "Memory_Management", "Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error" and so many other errors with blue screen. Due to this i have to power off the system from main power button by holding for few seconds. Now i was getting hang problem. I saw in task manager that DISK UTILIZATION was 100%. I did a hardware test where i got below results : HARD DRIVE SHORT DST Check : WARNING HARD DRIVE Optimized DST Check  : FAILEDFAILURE ID: 9U3UWX-6KT85B-MFPWWJ-61Q003 Can anybody tell me how to resolve this or i need to replace the hard drive. -ThanksPankaj

Answer:Hard Drive Short DST Check : WARNING and Optimized DST Check...

Yes you need to replace the hard drive. Since you have upgraded to Windows 10 it is very easy to get recovery media directly from the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. For most people, the problem is not physically swapping out the hard drive, but restoring the operating system since they do not have recovery disks. Post back if you want a service manual and/or video showing the replacement, purchase options for a new hard drive and step-by-step for restoring Windows 10. We would need the full model...g6-????

Is verifying files by check sum / content after transferring (copying, moving) indeed unreliable?

Since "ever" I - if I checked files at all - checked files by content or check sum after transferring them, so this information sounds very astonishing to me now, I hadn't had any clue about what I read here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2012/09/19/10350645.aspx

Obviously meaning in many cases checking files by content / check sum checks the data in the buffer, if I see it right.

So, is it like that? Does it refer to all of the synchronizing / backup / copying, check sum, etc. programs?

And what is the best / easiest way to (automatically) check files after transferring. E.g. when copying all of the files of a 4TB drive to another one.

Answer:Verifying files by check sum / content after transferring unreliable - how to check?

Kletus...

I'm not in my league with this, but could this make sense?

I think the article is referring to times when you are seeking to verify data across a network span between two systems (operating systems), where system b (copy destination) requests a checksum from system a (file original location). I believe the author is saying that in that particular situation checksums would be created from the cache/buffer on both computers. In the case of you copying to a secondary disk connected to a single computer I think the checksum should work fine. Sounds like one of those programmer's dilemmas to me.

Sorry if I am off on this. I know you are looking for some programming expertise. I'll just say that reading this, it made sense to me about the author's comments:

This really sounds like you're overthinking it.

First, what possible reason would there be for giving someone write access but not read access to a certain location? That's screwed up on so many different levels...

Second, you're right that having the sender compute a checksum of the destination file is a bad idea for all the reasons mentioned. But why did you even think of doing that in the first place?!? If I was implementing a system like that, I'd have the *destination* system compute the checksum on the file it received and send it back to the sender for verificati... Read more

My daughter called me and asked what was wrong with her monitor. She said that when she starts her computer she gets this message "Self check, check your PC and signal cable, monitor is working" and no other display...

kds x-flat monitor, onboard video, XP, AMD

She has unplugged and replugged the video cable several times... any ideas why this is?

Answer:Self check, check your PC and signal cable, monitor is working

That suggests that the computer is not booting, or if it is, there is no video output.

The monitor is simply saying "I am OK, but the computer isn't sending me anything"

A simple check to see if the computer is booting is to try the CAPS Lock key. Pressing it will toggle the CAP light on and off each press, if the PC is running.

Hi all

I have been trying to create an Excel macro that deletes only the check mark inside the check box albeit with no success. Is there a way to do this?? I have plenty of check boxes and it is taking me a lot of time to go into each one and delete only the check marks. It would be would be pretty neat to create a macro to delete the check marks in every single check box. If someone out there has figured out how to do it, it would be a great help.

I have what I believe is a probably Hard Disk failiure; however, the Windows utility provides different output than the error codes provided by the System level check. The below is from my OS check:Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.C:\Users\user>wmicwmic:root\cli>diskdrive get statusStatusOKwmic:root\cli> It seems to indicate status as OK. However, the system level Hardware Test before booting shows the following:Failiure ID is: 9PMPKK-5B284T-XD002K-60QS03Product ID is XG809UA#ABA  I assume the OS level SMART Test is less reliable, then? Thanks!

Hello, hope someone knows what to do because I'm out of ideas.

Let me premise this by saying I am not a simple PC user. I worked for 6 years as a newtwork technician specializing in boundary protection. I am very familiar with the Microsoft update system. I just don't want people to think I didn't try to fix this issue myself before coming here, this is a last resort kinda deal.

When I open up the update panel on Win 7 I click check for updates and nothing happens, it just keeps checking, forever.

If I run the Update Trouble Shooting applet that's out there it returns an error code, 8002F8F. When looking up the error code it basically only mentions that your date/time might be set wrong. The first thing I did was fix the time and date, and made sure that the BIOS settings matched the windows settings.

This didn't fix the issue and I was worried maybe the battery has gone bad but the time and date stay synced.

If I look in the event manager I do see a few errors related to Windows Time service, basically it was missing the service. I've since added the "vmsctime.dll" (I know this isn't correct but hopefully it's close enough that you guys know the DLL I'm referencing here). I also ran the applet that checks for and replaces missing/corrupt service files. A help article for the subject has me unregister then re-register the service, I'm not sure if this was successful or not.

I have the feeling that something is preventing the PC from c... Read more

What is the best check -in check-out asset management software? A list of what's out there would be appreciated because I cant seem to find an authoritative one of what's best for asset management (game development). I hear Alien brain is good and there's one that starts with a 'p' that I can't remember the name of it to save my life... Alien brain is too expensive and hard to find. It's an open source project so I know the 'p' one would work because they offer open source licenses so if anyone knows what Im talking about feel free to enlighten me.

Something similar to Project but with asset management and check in/check out functionality would be great if anyone could suggest something. A step beyond that would be real time preview of maya scenes, psds, and xsi files. But maybe I want too much with the latter...

edit: Oh and it doesn't have to be free, Im just curious as to what's out there...

Hi all,
I am making a client\server chat program using vb.net 2008. I am using something VERY similar to winsock called "Winsock Orcas".

I would like to know how to take the data from a list box on the server program and send it to the client program. Then, when the client recieves this data, it puts all of it into a listbox again on the client form.

I am not sending any data over the internet, just a LAN. If that helps at all.

Please, anyone who has ANY information on how to do this, respond as soon as possible!
I would like to finish this LAN chat program as soon as I can.

Thank you ALL for your help in advance,

OS = Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
The computer became infected with the 'smart HDD' virus the evening of 4/6. This resulted in hidden files and icons disappearing, etc. I was able to recover from that by going into safe mode and running an updated version of 'Stinger'. After that I was able to update malwarebytes and run that. These removed hijack something and fake alert something. Another action I took to recover from that virus was to complete a system restore back to the morning of 4/6. There are a couple things that I think are left over remnants related to that virus infection. The one I am most concerned about is that I am unable to check for windows updates. I am using Win XP Home Ed.
For two days, my computer has been restarting after some time(4-5 hours) automatically. Sometimes a blue screen appears right in the middle of my work. Then I installed a Windows Malicious software removal tool and it did remove some trojan. Today, Norton 360 removed another trojan, some "Backdoor" something. And now, when I try to scan my hard drive using Norton, it says "hard drives unavailable". The same is the case when I am checking drives for errors. But I am able to access the drives with no problem at all.
I regularly update Norton and Windows.
What should I do ?

To whom it concerns,

I am running Windows XP. I have two names assigned to the computer, one for myself and my personal files - also as the administrator; the other is for a friend and it is listed as a limited account. Now the problem I am having I have never had before, not on this computer or any others. On my name, I can access any sites - the email sites are the ones in question, however. On my friend's name, he can access sites, but not Yahoo mail - nor my Gmail - and I assume AOL as well. It's as though signing into any website is blocked. The message I receive in Internet Explorer is, "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page," and in Firefox, "Firefox cannot establish a connection to the server at..." I have tried so much, but I think it's just a matter of tweaking something in the software somewhere - more than likely my Norton Anti-virus (2004) program.

I'm hoping that by having joined this forum that I might find the answer I haven't found with search engines. Please, tell me it's something simple - even if difficult, I'm pretty good at computer stuff, just don't know the proper vocab. Thanks for the effort you might put into responding.

that's because your profile, cookies, and passwords will all be different for each profile. This has nothing to do with your anti-virus.

Hi,
I got infected last night with the System Check malware. I looked up the Remove System Check (Uninstall Guide) from your website. I attempted to reboot the laptop into Safe Mode with Networking mode but got this message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file.
This laptop is from my husband's work and we do not have the disc to reinstall windows. Is this a problem you can help me with or am I in trouble?

Answer:System Check infection-unable to reboot

Hello,

I recently installed Windows XP SP2 and am unable to defrag my D:/. I receive a message stating that "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: D: . Please run Chkdsk /f."

I did some Google Groups searches and seem to have solved the check disk on reboot issue by making some changes through regedit; however, it won't let me defrag the D drive. From one of these searches, I used CMD to determine that the D drive had a dirty bit or dirty query, I don't remember exactly how it was worded, but my C drive was the opposite.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanking you in advanced,

steve

I am loosing control of my computer every few minutes for a minute or two. Everything just seems to freeze up when this happens. And, it sounds like my computer is doing something. I've tried to follow your steps recommended for spyware, trojan, and virus removal. I have windows 2000. Whenever I try to do an online scan, as recommended, at Symantec Security Check, and hit "go", I get a pop-up screen that is just blank with the hour glass indication on my curser that something is happening. However, I never get any results.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,
I purchased a NUC for our home / i7 / 16GB RAM. Wife is a Professor at a local University so purchased Win 10 Education through the school as it's very inexpensive. Created ISO, installed and it hung twice at black screen with mouse cursor. Did a hard re-boot and got to Windows signon screen both times but there is only a Guest account an no local account.
Tried signing in with my O365 account - but get the We are unable to connect right now. Please check your network and try again later". "despite having LAN and/Or Wireless connectivity.
I'm wondering if this is related to the Guest account issue and caused because the Education version doesn't allow a local or O365 user.
I'm not a Network Tech by any stretch of the imagination; rather I wrote code on mainframes a long time ago and know just enough to be dangerous. I installed Win 7, 8 and 10 on multiple machines in the past but have not had this issue - any help would be greatly appreciated as VERY frustrated.

Hi, I'm running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Yesterday one of my office computers started being overtaken by the System Check malware. It was very slow and I was unable to use Internet Explorer so on a different computer I researched and came across the "Remove System Check (Uninstall Guide)". I followed all the instructions as closely as possible. I downloaded all the programs (RKill or iExplore.exe, TDSSKiller, and Malwarebytes) onto a USB flash drive from a clean computer and installed them on the infected one after booting in Safe Mode with Networking. After the programs were all installed and run and Malwarebytes reported 57 objects found it asked to be restarted to complete the removal process, which I did. After rebooting in Safe Mode I ran Malwarebtes again with 0 results. But after rebooting in Normal mode System Check starts right back up again like nothing's changed. I am only able to use this computer in Safe Mode now. Help!

Hi all! I am on my sister's computer doing my routine check on it, and its having issues checking for updates in the Windows Store. The wheel on "Check for updates" just keeps spinning and doesn't stop.

Specs: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, Version 10.0.10586 Build 10586, Acer Aspire 5749Z, 64-bit, Intel Pentium.

I hope those specs are enough information for whoever knows how to fix this issue.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

When running Checkdisk on my C: drive I get the error message above.
I run checkdisk by going through C: Drive properties in My Computer > Tools > Error-Checking > Check Now. And I select "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".
The progress bar gets right to the end but then the error message appears.

Does anyone know how I can sort this problem out, or even just tell me what the problem is?
Thanks.

I'm a computer tech here in KS. I've been working on a customers laptop since I came in this morning, and this problem is driving me mad. In the past I've rendered good results from support at bleepingcomputers, and hope the same in this situation.

Basically, this customers laptop refuses to allow updates. Any microsoft KB article related to this problem I have done, and redone, as well as various suggestions on the net. I just recently tried reseting the update system, and BITS, with no luck because now when I try to re enable update and bits through cmd as administrator, I now get an access denied return.

Like I said, I've tried everything short of reinstalling (we make it a policy to stray from reformats or re-installs); I can't even do an upgrade in any timely fasion because as usual, the customer forgot to bring their disk while they are running vista x64, and I just have the 32 bit disk. I've heard repair via upgrade works, but that isn't an option.

So I need to get rid of the access is denied, and see if any of my efforts have paid off which I highly doubt.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Answer:Qosmio X500-11U - Eco Utility unable to check voltage

Hi buddy,

I never noticed such an error message from Eco Utility even I use Eco Utility for months now. I never had a problem with this utility and it works great, it saves a lot of energy, especially when working on battery mode.

Anyway, maybe something went wrong during installation so you should remove Eco Utility and restart your notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean and fix Windows registry and restart again. After this download and install Eco Utility again.

I hope it works! :)

Also, you can't update from 1.2 to 1.3

if you have anti-virus then update it, and scan with it.

when I try to enter checks in the check register, I cannot set the check date to anything other than today's date (ie, the day I am trying to enter the check).

I have googled, etc, but cannot find the cause of this problem.

Anybody have an idea ?

thanks in advance.

Hey guys, this is the first time I have reached out to try and fix this problem. I haven't been able to do updates for a couple years and I have been working on this off and on.
I am reluctant to post this, since it may be the cause of the problems.... however... I think my problem stems from messing around with the drivers when I original purchased the computer. It could have also occurred when I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional... Everything seemed to work fine like updates for about a year or so. Didn't notice the updates not working until about a 2 years ago when I realized my laptop was having issues playing FFXI and I found that my graphics card was not using any resources, as well as other things seem to not working. Such as sfc /scannow, when I run it I get an error after about 10-15 minutes saying "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.", and when I run DXDiag I get very little information on my computer with a lot of N/A's, though the amount of RAM is correct as is the video memory (I think) despite not showing the correct graphics processor.

I went to school for this kind of stuff and have just fooled myself all these years, acting like I actually know stuff. I mean I may have been able to figure it out back then. But not a chance now.

I can't even remember any of the steps I followed from other peoples solutions and posts over the past... So if the previous stuff isn't actually needed for your information... I apolo... Read more

Welcome to our forum ScottMacFreedom.

I'm not the one to help with your update problem logs but here are a couple of tutorial that will help you find out what is what in your computer.

Proper system specs also helps other help you.

Computer type Laptop
System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell
OS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU No clue? i7
Memory 8GB
Graphics Card Nvidia? 530? 630? 635? EX or something...

Hard Drives 1TB... Really the answer to all these questions is probably whatever a Dell Inspiron 17r has... But then again I have looked before at the specs for the 17r and it didn't all look correct. I got it in 2011 and it was relatively cheap.

To eliminate the password dialog entirely, since you are the only user, try going to the Control Panel > Network applet and change your logon option from whatever it is (Client for Microsoft Networks or Family logon) to Windows logon.

When you reboot if you get a password prompt, just hit enter and that should be the last of it.

Running Windows 7
Hard drive is an OCZ 120gb SSD 3yrs old still in warranty.
Was just about to send to them for RMA but thought to use a caddy first and found I can access my files still.

On boot I get a single beep as per normal.
Memory test runs.
sata interface finds devices
The ssd drive is listed
Freezes at this screen.

If I unplug the drive and boot it runs past the test and goes to insert disk to boot screen

Update : after using the caddy to see if I can access drive I put back into pc and booted.
Ran past tests quickly and now I'm at disk boot failure screen.
Update 2: using windows install disk i tried to run repair but could not find the OS installed on the SSD so i formatted and re installed OS
Boots to windows 7 just fine now.
However my other hard drives were unplugged at this time, 2 x older 1TB HDDs

I plugged them back in and booted to the same hanging screen from before.
I tested each HDD and each SATA port individually. Will not boot if there is more than one hard drive plugged in.

update 3:
my motherboards sata ports are faulty - there are a total of 6 ports ( 3 channels)
channel 1 and 2 cause a hang
channel 3 works fine

end result is i can only use two HDDs until i buy a new motherboard

probably consider this solved but ill leave it open for a day or two for safety

post suggestions if any

You can try booting into the BIOS and restoring to factory default. Aside from that, not much that you can do about a hardware failure.

Hi,

my laptop top (Satellite Pro) hasn't downloaded or installed any updates since january and it hasn't been running very well lately.
When I click "try again" on the window update page, I just get the same error again and again.

Windows help website said it would be a problem with my computer as it came with Vista home basic already installed on it.

Any help would be greatly appreicated!

Hi!

Searching in the Microsoft Knowledge Base takes only few minutes and so I have founded this article:

It?s not the same error code as you have but to solve the problem you should disable the antivirus program and maybe also the firewall.

I'm working on a friends Inspiron 3646, and it's infested with malware and viruses to the point that it wasn't worth fighting and I thought I would just back up their data and recover the machine back to factory.
When I started, the computer was running Windows 10, the recovery partition apparently puts it back to Windows 8.1, which isn't a problem in and of itself, but I noticed that when asking Windows Updates to check for updates, it would just spin, forever.  I tried waiting 8+ hours.
After banging my head against this problem for a day or more and trying dozens of fixes, I assumed maybe my fixes made the problem worse, and tried another recovery, but nope.  Same problem.
So it looks like the copy of Windows 8.1 on the recovery partition doesn't want to play nice with Microsoft, and so here we are.  Things I've tried:

Two full system recoveries, obviously
Dell Backup and Recovery tools to analyze the disk, etc, no errors found
Windows Update Troubleshooter (it found two errors and fixed them (Potential Windows Update Database error detected 0x80070490 / Windows Update component must be repaired) but didn't fix the problem.
Chkdsk /r

OK, so yesterday morning, I was moving files from my laptop to a flash drive and, all of a sudden, weird things started to happen. There was a fake security warning that initially came up and it messed up the transfer. It told me that I was infected and needed to use their scanner immediately (the pop-up came from a small yellow shield and looked like the Windows Update shield). So I immediately tried to scan my computer using Malwarebytes, but once I clicked on the icon, it wouldn't respond. I tried to scan my computer via Trendmicro's Housecall online scanner, but after scanning for 30min, Firefox crashed. I was also unable to do a System Restore in both Normal and Safe Mode.My laptop's volume was muted at the time, but when I started to mess around with it later, I noticed that random rock music was playing at 2min intervals, even while nothing was running. I was also getting an error after logging in saying that "ViewMgr has experienced an error and needs to close" and I was having quite a few computer hangs and blue screens. I also tried to update iTunes during all this and I was unable to install a new copy of iTunes or uninstall the old.The last weird thing that has been taking place is that I am not being allowed to check the disk for errors. I've done it by right clicking My Computer>Properties>Tools>etc. and I've also done it through the command prompt so that it can check disk after restart. But all it says is something like "Can't check the... Read more

I reformatted my computer about 4 weeks ago. Every week I've been doing routine maintenance. Ad/spy/virus check, follow by cleaning of Internet temp files, cookies etc etc.

After that I would do a scan disk and the last 4 weeks has been ok, it completed to phase 3.

Now for some reason it doesn't complete phase 2.

Anyway ideas?

Windows XP, Service pack 3 installed.

Answer:"Windows was unable to complete the disk check" Stuck on Phase 2

Hmmmm? I just cleared the cache, cookies, etc on firefox which is the default browser I use. Clicked scan disk and it completed pass phase 3.

What the is the relationship between clearing cache, cookies etc that makes scan disk work?. Because it seems I have to clear all those date before scan disk can be completed. Why?

I would have thought clearing cookies, history temporary files via control panel > Internet options > general clears all the data but it seems I have to clear it through firefox too? Why?

What the is the relationship between clearing cache, cookies etc that makes scan disk work?

Another thing. As I managed to complete scan disk. I decided to re check it just incase, at this point I was surfing the net reading some emails, etc and scan disk did not complete.

WHY???

I always get a message to "Check backup settings" when I open the Backup and Restore page, stating "Windows cannot find the disk or network location where your backups are being saved."
If I click "Options" I get a message "Check your backup" that says the backup location has a corrupted file system. I run Check Disk and everything is OK. But the above sequence of events still occurs every time I open Backup and Restore.
My backups are set up to be saved on a Samsung hard drive weekly, and I can find them on the drive.
How can I stop this occurring?

Hello everyone, new member here. First off, thanks for accepting my registration.

Anyways, every time I try to schedule a "Check Disk" it NEVER starts on a restart...

I ALREADY did the "sfc /scannow" command on the cmd prompt.
It did NOT fix my solution. In fact it said it was UNABLE to fix some problems.
I have attached a file of my "SFC scan log". Inside it says it was unable to fix "Chkdsk.exe" Go figure

Alright, just some extra information. I also think my computer is confused of itself . I mean, it seems to not know if its a 64 bit or a 86 bit!

I was told from someone to install a hotfix for "Chkdsk.exe" here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975778/en-us

But it did NOT work. I attempted to install BOTH 64 bit AND 86 bit hotfixes, and YES they were BOTH windows 7 (Chkdsk.exe) hotfixes.

My system specs:

-Toshiba Qosmio X505 Laptop-

Windows 7 -64 bit- (Yes it SAYS 64 bit but I've tried to install other kinds of hotfixes for both 64 and 86 bits and none of them worked!)

Intel Core i5

4gb Ram

Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M

If any of that matters anyway! Thank you guys, I really hope there's a computer pro out there that can fix my problem. I've joined many forums and had no fix. I don't want to do a complete reinstall of Windows 7 mainly because it takes long and I KNOW there has to be another way. I'll only do that as a last resort. Running the Computer Check Disk Function
Step 1
Determine whether you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista. XP users can simply click on the "Windows Start Button" and then go to the "Run" link. Once run pops up type in "CMD" and hit enter which will cause the MS DOS prompt to appear. Type in "CHKDSK /r" which will check for hard disk errors. Vista users need to click on "Start" then go to "Accessories" followed by "System Tools" and then run the MSDOS program followed by "CHKDSK /r"
Step 2
Insert your restore CD if errors are found and not fixed by the check disk function listed above.
Step 3
Turn your computer off and then back on. You'll be asked to hit any button to boot from your CD; press any key. You will then be asked if you want to install a fresh version of your OS or "Repair" a current copy. Choose the "Repair" option and allow the computer to go through the necessary steps.
Step 4
After the repair function has run, turn your computer off and then back on. Wait and see if the computer shuts down again. If it does not shut down, your computer's restore function has fixed the file, which was probably caused by a bad system file.
Fixing Computer Shut Downs Via The Power source

Today, I was online, reading the news and noticed that the pages were loading slower and slower. Using IE 8. Anyways, I got the Blue Screen of Death with (this is the first time I've seen this message):

BIOS version: Dell Inc. A03 (2006)
Recent changes to computer: Upgraded from IE 7 to IE 8 12 Apr 09, Windows Auto Update 15 Apr 09, Reg Fix Pro Update 16 Apr 09

After rebooting, I came to your site and checked out some similar posts, I've blown away the dust and went to the link for memtest86, downloaded, installed and updated drivers.

So, far have not received this msg again, but there were some other suggestions I'd like to try. How do I clear CMOS & set BIOS? (And years ago I heard the term - flash the BIOS is this the same thing? Or something else & do I need to do it?) Can you give me guidance on opening up a laptop to reseat & switch memory (I've only opened a desktop)? I did try to go into Setup (F2), but most fields were unchangeable. The battery is 100% charged and performing normally.

Any other things I should do?

Thanks so much!

Answer:parity check/memory parity check

There should be a slot on the bottom to get to the memory. Laptop memory sits flat, you will press 2 clips on the RAM holder and the memory will come up about 45 degrees. You can then lift it out of the slot. To install new memory, you slide it into the holder then press it down so it lies flat and you will hear it click in place.

As far as BIOS, avoid flashing it. If this is the first problem you've had and the error seems to point to memory, you do not need to do anything with your BIOS.

First, I've been interested in buying a PC for the Next Gen games. Can anyone check this build to see if everything is compatible, or if I missed something, and if it will all work on my 500W PSU?

Answer:Can someone check this out before I buy it?

first and foremost, that PSU will in now way run that rig. its got a single 12v rail with only 18A on it...factor in a nice PSU into your budget, its the foundation of ur system. check out an OCZ or a Zalman. they are kinda pricey as are most high end PSUs but you need a nice one to power that rig

for heatsinks, it doesnt get much better than this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118223
its only a few $ more but its definitely worth it

im not sure if that card will fit in the case, those things are HUGE! It might be fine though

ive got that keyboard, now i hate to use anything lesser lol. its amazing, i love it

if it were me a may check out some different motherboards but that one doesnt look bad.

ill give it the OK

Question: Please check log

Didn't think I'd be back here so quickly. My brother installed some stuff on the computer by accident. I think Spyware and Ad-aware cleared most of it, but please point out anything that was missed.

Also, where can I find the instructions on how to safely remove Kazaa? Thanks a lot.
