After using W10 for over two months, can I use an image to revert back to W7?

Question: After using W10 for over two months, can I use an image to revert back to W7?

After upgrading to windows 10 for more than 2 months, can I roll back to windows 7 using stored ( Macrium Reflect Backup ) image?

Preferred Solution: After using W10 for over two months, can I use an image to revert back to W7?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: After using W10 for over two months, can I use an image to revert back to W7?

Yes. Just be aware that all your documents, personal files and anything that was/is stored on your PC will revert back to the state it was in when the image was created.

Hi, I own a Lenovo G550 laptop preinstalled with windows 7 Home Premium. Lately, I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro. Now that I want to revert back to Windows 7 I can't seem to find a way to do that as the recovery option simply doesn't work (the rescue button is inactive). I didn't format the HD partitions and the recovery partition (where the factory image is located) is still there. All  I did was inserting the Windows 8 DVD and clicking Upgrade - Windows did all the rest. How can I revert back to Windows 7 that came with the PC? Thanks, Ofir

Answer:How do I revert back to the factory image after installing Windows 8?

hi ofircarmi,

Before you upgraded to Windows 8, did you created your Windows 7 recovery disc using this procedure? The reason I asked is because the One Key Recovery application & the OKR button will not work after you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 as discussed here.

If you didn't created a recovery disc, you will need a retail Windows 7 Disc to downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7 or you contact Lenovo Technical Support to obtain the disc. Support phone list here.

Cheers

Question: Revert back to 98

Is it possible to revert back to an original installation of windows 98 after installing XP Pro over the top of it(without formatting the disk first)? I'm enquiring on behalf of a friend who installed XP expecting it to have retained all his previous programs/applications etc and would simply like to go back to Win 98. I told him that he should have backed up etc and should have hard copies of all data on disk. I think it was possible to unformat fat32 disks but I'm not sure about XP's ntfs and removing it. I can format, partition and install XP no problem, its just I've never tried to undo anything before.

Any advice/info would be much appreciated

I had reloaded Win 7 just prior to my upgrade to WIN10. Dont normally like to do an upgradebut I was pretty sure it was still clean. So on 2/14/16 id did the upgrade so I'm in the 30 day timeframe if that makes any difference. I just don't really like WIN 10.

I did a Acrtonis backup of Win 7 b/4 I did the upgrade &it is on my backup HD. I have the OldWin in my C drive but it looks like the opinion on the Forum is to use a backuplike Acronis rather than the old Win file I have in the C drive now. OK, so how do I reformat the C drive or do Ineed to reformat before I get Acronis toreload my OSP of Win 7 & do I need to do anything else. I have a separate backup HD inside my PC thathas all my files, downloaded programs etc and other important Data on it, my"C" drive is used for my OSP & programs only.

Answer:Revert back to Win 7

Boot from Acronis recovery usb stick.

Select backup image.

Restore image.

No need to do anything first to C drive.

Howdy,
I work at a school and there's this computer that has Win8 with IE10. Some school websites require IE8 to function properly. So, I've googled it and tried a few techniques (recently installed programs, compatibility mode, developer tools/run as IE)... but to no avail. The latter (developer tools F12 and run in IE8 mode) might work, but it doesn't save that setting, meaning I would have to set it every time. So that solution is completely worthless.

Question: Revert Back To Xp?

So anyways, after my many, many trials...and failures with this OS, I've decided to revert back to XP. And yes, I know that voids my warranty, blah blah. I just have a couple of questions.Computer: HP Pavilion dv6327 cl Entertainment Notebook PC1. If I go back and install XP over Vista, will I still be able to use/get the drivers for the extra features on my laptop, say...HP Quickplay? Since I have special buttons on the keyboard just for these features (for DVD playback, volume control, etc.) and I would like to continue to use them, is there any way I could transfer this over to XP?2. Since I have internal wireless, will I have to go through the wireless wizard to pick my router's signal back up? It's unsecured, by the way, so no codes to input. (Yes, I know I should secure it.)3. Okay, if I can't have Quickplay, what about certain programs that came preinstalled, like Roxio? Would I just have to find a freeware version? And speaking of freeware, what would be the best freeware AV/firewall/AS, etc? Right now I just have ZoneAlarm firewall and AVG Anti-virus/anit-spyware.4. So I'm getting ready to reinstall, how do I tell what kind of HD I have? I looked under the battery and didn't see anything. Would looking in Device Manager work? I saw something called the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and most of the things under it were labeled IDE except the NVidia nForce SATA controller. Isn't that my graphics/video card? Does that mean I have to slipstream the XP disc or not?5. And one ... Read more

Answer:Revert Back To Xp?

Hello,Answers1 It will be very difficult to revert to XP as you can't install older versions of windows over newer versions. Using the extra features could prove difficult and it will be dependent on if XP can support the hardware being used.2 If you put XP on the system, you would most likely have to reformat the drive and start from square 1 in this case you will need to configure everything again3 If you are looking for freeware replacments, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.html has an extensive list.4 http://www.gtopala.com/ is a system auditing tool, it will be able to give you detailed information on all aspects of your hardware.5 flashing the BIOS is a very delicate operation, it is crucial that you follow the instructions to the letter, otherwise the BIOS way become damaged and could ruin the system. switching back to XP may work or it may not. before you continue you should find the exact cause of the BSOD.

I'm running Vista Ulitimate x64.
IE8 freezes and closes at least 5 times a day. I went through Add/Remove and unistalled the IE8 update and it did revert it back to IE7, however it doesn't work. The webpage is blank [white] and it tells me that "insert random URL cannot be opened at this time" when I try to go to a url in the address bar. I've set all the settings back to default and clear private data and still nothing. Before I installed IE8, I created a restore point and when I tried restoring it after the first try failed, it did the exact same thing forcing me to install IE8 once again.

I have firefox, however I don't want to switch browers, I just need suggestions on how to fix this problem. Thank you!

So a relative came over and the computer asked if they wanted to upgrade...he said yes...it now has Win 8 on it from win 7.

Apparently none of the files that were on it are not now, perhaps they're in a different partition or something...

Anyone have an idea of what might have happened and/or how to get Win 8 off and restore Win 7?

OR do you mean a message appeared on the computer asking if you wanted to upgrade

Was the Windows 8 purchased OR did the relative bring with them a Windows 8 disc

I presume you mean your personal user files by way of docs, pics and music
Depending on how the upgrade was done they are either GONE or they are in the Windows Old Folder
If you choose to keep nothing when you upgrade to Windows 8.1, your personal files won't automatically move with you, but you can still restore them after you've upgraded. Can anyone help me, I accidentally deleted my system back up for windows 8.1, because of my antivirus program, now i can't revert back to windows 8.1 form windows 10, those anyone faced this kind of problem and have a solution?
Because of my antivirus when cleaning it accidentally deleted my system back up for windows 8.1
my laptop says we're sorry but we cant revert to your old windows because the neccesary files we're deleted

Answer:how to revert back to windows 8.1

Then, it's unfortunate that it was deleted. You could try to recover those deleted files using a file recovery program, but chances are you won't recover ALL of them - even recovering 99.99% of the files is NOT enough as that would translate to a corrupt system.
So, technically, you can't revert back to how your PC was before you upgraded (because the files were deleted). You're best option may be to re-acquire the installer of Windows 8.1 that came with your PC... but using that will erase all your personal files.

I created 2 partitions in Vista boot screen and i have a 50 gig partition that i would like to boot up XP Pro but when i put in the XP pro disk it does not see the hardrive i have tried installing sata drivers but again it still does not work

ANy answers???

Answer:How to Revert Back to XP From Vista!

if you want to dual boot XP & Vista you must install XP first then install Vista to a separate partition .. otherwise MS won't let you do it .. MS hates backwards installations of OS's. Creating a Vista partition won't help you'll need to delete the partition and then create a partition using XP .. if it lets you.
You can try adding another HDD (Disconnect Vista HDD first) as an IDE primary slave or second SATA and installing to it separately followed by choosing what HDD you want to boot from .. either from by changing your BIOS boot config or the BOOT menu if your PC supports it

Can I revert back to Version 2009 of WLM from Version 2011?I really getting a wee bit peed off with trying to get Win 7 and WLM2011 working as intended. I am finding it impossible to transfer details from the 2009 version to the 2011 version mail, and am left with creating all my contacts one by one. Absolute garbage. I have asked for help, from their web site, and they give ways of doing it which bear no relationship to what comes up on my machine. I am asked to click buttons that do not appear, the same applies to trying to get the IE8 pages darker so that I can see the detail. Again, I'm told to click on buttons that are no-existant.That aside, any ideas about getting the Contacts transfered from an XP SP3 machine Version 2009 WLM to a Win 7 64bit version 2011 WLM machine?ThanksTonyV

I have upgraded all of my one-generation-back Win boxes, but want to ease into 10 at leisure.

As I understand it, the registry is modified at the first upgrade to 10 with the activation "approval", but I am concerned that this will be lost upon reversion to the earlier version.

So if I revert to the previous version, say 7 or 8.1, can I then "re-install" 10 after July 30 without having to buy a license?

Answer:upgrade to 10, revert to 7, then back to 10

The activation for Windows 10 is stored on Microsoft activation servers. Upgrades to or clean installs of Windows 10 on the same computer will retrieve the saved activation over the Internet and activate, still for free, after July 29.

First off ... the one central nugget to the downgrade procedure is to reinstall Ad-Aware / AAW 7.1.0.11 while your internet connection is down. If you want to downgrade and you know where to get AAW 7.1.0.11 then with the tweak I just mentioned you can do it. You don't need to read any further.Lavasoft Ad-Aware has been useful to me for many years. Trying to roll back to w7 ,w10 told me I did not have a back up(windows.old)which when I looked it was there.
When I tried again I could not because W10 had taken the roll back facility out of the three options. I then looked at the D partition for the manufacturers recovery for 64bit W7 and found that this had been deleted by W10.
I made a full back up using w7 backup and recovery on an external hdd changed the startup to usb drive but would this be a bootable drive as I still booted into W10, what have I done wrong? (Apart from using windows backup)

How many times are we seeing this problem, it was suggested by myself and others that you clone your drive before experimenting with Win10. Then no matter what happens you can easily get back your original OS.

First. try and find the XP Drivers (possible)
Second. See if we can hook you up a restore Disk for this (The manufacture will probably charge you for this).

I cannot download the SysInfo utility because the computer I'm inquiring about is not connected to the internet but here is the information:
Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Dell XPS DXP051
Intel
Pentium 4 CPU 3.20GHz
3.19 GHz, 3.00 GB of RAM

Now my question. I am giving this old computer to a friend but I want to take all of my stuff off. I use to know how to convert it back to the original state as when I bought it but I forgot how to do it. Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Kaye

P.S. I have another a computer that I need to know this information on also but I don't have the information yet. It is running Windows 10 and I think with the anniversary pack.

Answer:How to Revert Back to Original

I'm guessing you actually have a Dell XPS 400/Dimension 9150 desktop.
What's the exact "service tag" number and "express service code" number on that Dell?

That desktop is over 10 years old, so it may or may not have come with a built-in factory restore partition.
There's probably a factory restore disc kit available for it, but we need to get it properly identified first.

Wiping out and re-installing Windows XP in that desktop is probably going to be a difficult and time-consuming job.
You should think hard if you want to go through all that for a Windows operating system that hasn't been supported in almost 3 years.

i had a terrible problem with a big quantity of extremely important photo files; i formatted a pen drive by error and now i cannot access my photos; the card in the camera card filed as fat; my computer only files in nfts; a window popped up telling i had to format; i didnt realized the risk and formatted; now i cannot open the files because for sure they now are nfts; how could i revert the mistake i did?, there should be a way of reverting from nfts to fat, isnt it?; pls help me; i must find a solution!

Answer:how to revert nfts back to fat

I used to use a program called partition magic which would revert the change but the "INFO" would be gone but "YOU CAN RECOVER THE INFORMATION" by using recovery software like recuva from here: Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

This would be the better choice and it's free: http://www.partitionwizard.com/

I am considering the purchase of the Windows 8 Pro upgrade for $39.99. I would install it on my Dell laptop running Windows 7. If after using Windows 8 for awhile, I may decide I like Windows 7 better. How is it possible to revert back? I read that once you do an upgrade the license of the older OS is lost according to this reference:Frequently Asked Questions About Installing Windows 8
which is quoted here:

"If I use a Windows 8 Upgrade disc/download to upgrade my Windows 7 computer to Windows 8, can I then use my old Windows 7 disc and product key to install Windows 7 on another computer?"

No. The Windows 8 Upgrade license replaces the previous Windows 7 (or Windows Vista or Windows XP) license.
To be clear: your old version of Windows that you upgraded from can no longer be used on your current, or any other, computer.

Is this really true? If so, it sure doesn't seem to be widely publicized.

Answer:How to revert back to Windows 7

actually I have the same question.. hw to revert back to previous win7???.. i installed win8pro in my dads laptop and decided to make a dual-boot win7/win8 in my pc, but unluckily it upgraded the win7 to win8. I was waiting for the part where I have an option to install it in a different Partition but I never saw it. it rebooted and just started to install byitself, I just left it to do its stuff coz it might corrupt my files. anybody has an answer to this?

My computer is specified below.

PC specs:
Hp G60 441us
Intel Pentium(R) Dual-Core Processor T4200 @ 2.00GHz
Factory Installed OS: Windows Vista with service pack 1
Current OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit with service pack 1
3.00 GB RAM

My problem is that I installed windows 7 home premium w/ SP1 without making sure that i had a legit product key and the product key on the bottom of my computer is faded so that i can only see like 16 of the 25 characters in the product key for the original windows vista that was installed on the computer in the first place. Another problem is that i didnt have the oem installation discs for windows vista w/ SP1 but i solved that problem with downloading three different files: install.wim, boot.wim, and an x-?????.exe from the internet and used WBI creator to make them into a single iso, then i burned them to a disc. Anyway, is there anyway for me to obtain the missing components of my original product key for windows vista if my pc is running windows 7? And if there is, is the retail burned iso going to be accepting of my original product key or will i need to get the oem discs from hp? BTW, I have had this computer for a while and the warranty is up, is there any way to do this cheap?
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated, because i dont even have the money to buy a new license right now
Thanks in advance,
Devpr

I'm in the Windows 8.1 beta, and it made my PC very buggy. The start menu is always freezing and while watching videos on YouTube, they always skip video frames and ruins my experience. I loved 8 and didn't think the 8.1 beta would be this buggy. I have no backup to restore and not really PC savvy, and could use some help on what to do, thanks

Answer:How to revert back to windows 8 from 8.1

When signing up for the 8.1 beta, there was language in the terms that stated that there was no reverse path. There also wasn't an upgrade path to the real 8.1. No matter what, you'd have to do an OS reinstall eventually.
You will want to save all of your personal files on an external hard drive or flash drive. Then keep inventory of all apps and programs you have because you will need yo reinstall them.
Then reinstall 8.

The question is the title. Can I revert fairly easily via sys restore or some other tried-&-true method? Or will I need to go all the way, format and reinstall v7, drivers, software...?

I've had some problems and discovered that this main board is not intel-approved for windows 10. Not having full-out meltdowns, but misc video and display frustrations (driver issues). Seems like I would benefit from just grinding through a re-install.

Too bad your little sys info app went away, but I can post more if needed. It's 64 bit, an i5, had v7 pre-installed (& I have disk -- also have disk for drivers.

Thanx in advance

Hello all, I need help reverting to the pre-installed windows 8 on my system. How do I go back to windows 8.

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:I need to revert back to windows 8

Hello.

If you ordered your machine with the Windows 8 Pro - downgradeable to Windows 7 Professional option, then your machine will be delivered with Windows 7 Professional pre-installed. That is how I got mine.

You can't revert to Windows 8 Pro from the current setup, you must either upgrade to Windows 8 Pro through the Microsoft ugpgrade tool, which requires you to have your BIOS embedded Windows 8 Pro product key handy (you can use this program: ProduKey, to reveal your key), or if you got the Windows 8 Pro recovery media with your machine, as I did, you can use them to completely set up your machine again with Windows 8 Pro, and the installation will detect and install your BIOS embedded product key automatically.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

Is it the key off the machine, is it should be fine as it is tied to the machine.  You can down load an ISO file from Microsoft then use that key.

Newer laptop with Win8...

Absolutely hate Win8 but stuck with it.

It's not intuitive for old geezers.

The computer that was replaced had Rollback Rx. I was fairly comfortable with that. Another computer had a similar feature built into that version of Windows.

Is there something available in my current computer using Win8?

Yesterday I was purchasing something and a window opend telling me that I had to update Adobe version.

I wasn't allowed to go forward so I dutifully allowed the update.

Had to have been a malware or 'near virus' or something.

Getting all kinds of inopportune popups and frustrating little happenings.

I'd sure like to go back in time 24 or 48 hours on this laptop.

Another thought... is there any equivalent to "my computer" in Win8?

Help an old guy out?

Thanks.

Steve

A while back I changed my name on my old PC not knowing the consequences. This is the message that ensued:

Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (unkown package id). Please rerun Setup.

I don't think I have the SQL disc around, because this is an old PC that I only now want to get running again. Is there an easy way to just find whatever the old computer name was and revert it back to that? That seems like the simplest way of solving the issue to me.

Answer:How to revert back to old computer names

Are you talking about the registered organization and owner of the computer or just the computer name? For the registered organization and owner go to the following in regedit;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion

• Backup the key by exporting to a folder, say on the c:\ root.
• To change the registered organization, double-click RegisteredOrganization.
• Under Value data, type the name that you want, and then click OK.
• To change the name of the registered owner, double-click RegisteredOwner.
• Under Value data, type the name that you want, and then click OK.
• Click Exit on the File menu to quit regedit.

For the computer name, right click My Computer \ Properties \ Computer Name \ Change.
As for the previuse names, if you didn’t write them down, your out of luck! OSL…

Hello.

So i've recently downloaded Civ 6, so I decided to look up some mods for it. Because it would make it abit more interesting.
I had a mod that would require me to manually change some of the text in the file to my own liking.

You probably guessed it by now, I forgot to tick off the "set default app" thing.

I've played around with a lot of civ 5 mods in the past. So I feel so stupid to do the mistake now.
I have tried going into cmd with admin and writing "assoc .lua=" but it didnt work, i've also tried to to locate the the default .lua app in the settings on windows 10. But I cannot revert it back, I only have the option to choose Notepad and some other apps.

Can someone please help me? Civ 6 wont register the file unless it gets reverted back to its default "app" or w/e it is

Answer:How do i revert back to default .lua application

.lua doesn't have an association by default in Windows.

If you want to get rid of the association just open regedit and delete HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lua or select .lua and blank out the (Default) value

I have Win 7 Home Premium installed and I want to upgrade to Professional. Can I revert back to Home Premium?

Answer:Revert back to Windows 7 Professional

You may be able to but why? Pro just adds features to what home premium has doesn't remove any.

Hi Everyone,We have a few XP machines in our facility running no longer available programs. The other day one wouldn't load explorer.exe. Noticed the drive was 99.9% full. I entered in safe mode with dos and cleaned up some of the temp files and downloads to free space. I was able to get it to restart, but it still wouldn't open explorer.exe so all i had was a blank desktop.I grabbed a XP pro CD not thinking that the old box was just XP. Ran the chkdsk, didn't work, tried running the repair using directions from a old forum that stated i could act like its a new install, and it should recognize the old install and prompt me to repair. This was not the case. The install crashed about 1/3 of the way through. Now when it boots i get a XP pro screen, the straight to blue screen/restart looping. How can i revert back to the original install from the half installed XP Pro?Any help is greatly appreciated,Aaron

Answer:I need to revert back from XP pro to the original install

You will have to boot from a partition manager utility CD and re-format the partition where Windows is part-installed so that the partition is rendered empty. You can do it with the free MiniTool Partition Wizard bootable CD. Go here and scroll down to "Free Bootable CD" : http://www.partitionwizard.com/down...Take care not to format the factory recovery partition if it exists. After the formatting, use the factory recovery discs or the factory recovery partition (whichever method is available) to restore the original factory pre-installation of Windows.

Hi, My name is Denis. Pleased to join you all, l am a new member. I hope that I can be of assistance to any of the members. and I hope that somebody can help me also. I have a problem with a new hard drive that I have slotted into my new PC which is an Acer g5900 ( Predator ) and is capable of holding 8 Terra bytes of space. The PC has Intel R.A.I.D. technology installed so when I slotted the new SATA drive in to the drive bay which connects immediately, no wiring or cables. Message said installed successfully and so on, but now I realize that everything including System files, Recovery Partition, etc is now on the new disc. or Raid 0 .The system is healthy and normal. It makes noise as its doing tasks and stuff, not worrying noise but reminds me of the old PCs. My problem really is can I transfer the System and Recovery files back to drive C which came with the machine. I cannot access this disc raid 0 to view how much space is left etc, During the initial disc insertion it stated it was migrating data to the new disc. The disc is easily removable on a tray on the front of the PC. but only when the system is shutdown. I removed it several times and the system will not start without it, It seems the system is now dependent on the new disc. All I wanted was extra hard drive for videos, games, photos, etc; I tried a system restore but it failed. I would be happy to get my PC back to normal, and just use the new disc as a spare. If anyone could give me some advice on how to undo... Read more

Answer:Y560 How To Revert Back To Old Bios?

try to re-install or update graphic card drivers first, and if you can re-seat the ram sticks.

still you want to use your old bios?
there is a folder named bios on c volume ( c:/bios ) it should be a file called bios.bak. rename it to "newbios.wph" and process the bios update again.

If you decide to uninstall IE 8 Beta 1 and revert back to IE 7, you will likely discover that its entry in the Add/Remove Programs list does not offer an uninstall option, especially if you installed the XP SP3 upgrade afterwards.

This is how to uninstall it:

Navigate to the C:\WINDOWS\IE8\SPUNINST folder and then open it to expose its list of files.

Double-click the SPUNINST.EXE file to start the uninstall process.

Ignore the warning that uninstalling it may cause some of your installed programs not to work.

Restart your computer when prompted to.

When you start IE 7 for the first time, follow the directions to select your personal settings.

Run a scan at the Windows Updates site.

The origin of the images was 'save-as' from the WEB, and they had peculiar names which included 'jpg/png' in the name, as well as in the extension; many images had a lengthy name made up of (code) numerous characters.

Apologies - the Urgent in this is only because I'm unsure whether any action may need to be done before I close down in about 6 hours or so.

Basically my problem began in Picasa 3 where I watched a short vid then decided to change the filename. That done I closed the preview & went back to the main program where I discovered that Picasa had somehow decided I wanted the entire folder of images renamed so it has worked through the 500+ images and renamed each one as Filename001, Filename002, Filename003 and so on which as you can appreciate is now causing somewhat of a major headache for me. It would take me a good few hours I would rarely have to go through and rename each one manually, so my question basically is - is there any method or program that can undo the action as I can't find any means of doing so from within Picasa. All other options I've found in my searches are mainly to achieve pretty much the same i.e. bulk rename as Name1, Name2 etc so are of little help.

Anyone any suggestions what else I could try?

Answer:Urgent help needed - how to revert a bulk image name process?

I assume you don't have a Backup to fall back on. I use these two bulk renaming tools. You can see if they help. This is drop dead simple to use - http://www.fauland.com/af5.htm
This one has a more complicated interface but a couple other options - http://www.joejoesoft.com/vcms/108/

Answer:Renamed image files immediately auto-revert to old name

Instead of using "save as", us a screen grabber such as Snagit, there are also free ones out there.

Hey guys, long time, been busy with life but I need help from a mess that I dont know how to fix. First things first the situation. I moved my tower to my Samsung 40" 1080p for 2 weeks or so for entertainment thru HDMI. The fonts all grew big automatically, which i did not expect but none of the less I can see it better sitting far away from the TV. Today, I moved it back to my desk and hooked back up my monitor still thru HDMI. Now, the fonts across the display are either too small or too big and I can't fix it. Task bar icons went from big to small too. Here is what is going on with windows up to show examples:

Here is sample of Windows 8/8.1 normal desktop icons:

I need to revert the pic below again and I've tried everything that I can think of that would fix it but instead made it bigger and is at "default size" as settings show already. FYI, Nvidia released a software update called DSR a while back to down sampling a 4K res to a 1080p source to make the image look better without much having the GPU take such a hit on FPS like other down sampling software do. I isnt on and if I do turn it on, then everything goes really, really tiny.

Any thoughts?

Answer:Font on montior won't revert back to normal

What's the resolution settings in the Nvidia control panel compared to the native resolutions of your monitor?
If your native monitor resolution is something like 1920 x 1080 then set the resolution in the Nvidia control panel to that same setting

I have a locked down system (Army Gold Disk) and I want to change security settings so I can select "Custom Level", add sites, change security levels etc. I went and deleted "Security_HKLM_only", "Security_options_edit", ?Security_zones_map_edit? and I had access to what I needed. Reboot and the keys that I deleted reappear.

What is happening?? I am the network admin and GPO's are not setting any Internet Explorer options at this time. This is on an isolated network.
