Shutdown during win 7 wont load

Question: Shutdown during win 7 wont load

During the final stage of a windows update my com. shut off. Now I get the motherboard start up screen, with the option to access the BIOS, then it says "Loading Operating System" then it loops back to the bios screen again. I went into the BIOS selected to boot from DVD, and when it asks to Boot from CD to press any key...I do,and it still loops back to the BIOS screen!!! I can't break the cycle.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Shutdown during win 7 wont load

Hi,Kindly follow the below mentioned steps in order:1.Confirm Hard Drive is recognized in BIOS. If yes, follow next step. If NO, load BIOS defaults.2.Boot to Safe mode and perform system restore. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only. If system restore fails or unable to access safe mode, follow next step. 3.Run Start Up repair from the URL mentioned: the issue still persists, then try running the Hardware Diagnostics. If you get any error code, make a note of the error code. Thanks & RegardsDebbie B#iworkfordell

Ok so i decided i would update my BIOS as i saw there was a new BIOS available at the dell website

I have a Inspiron 1100 2.2Cel, 512 Ram, 30GIG
I had a A29 BIOS and was updating to A30, So i downloaded and started the BIOS update it starts installing and has to restart as it restarts all is fine till it gets to the windows splash screen and it comes up with a certain boot file is missing in system32 ( I didn't get chance to see the specifics as i wasn't expecting a problem) and then straight away it restarts so the BIOS didnt finish installing and from then on it simply just keeps restarting at the splash screen

So i thought i would try Safe mode but the same problem, I then try putting my XP cd in and repairing the windows but still no luck so then i went and instaled a second XP which is now working fine, which relieved a bit as the Computer parse is working just not the original Windows

I now have access to the other windows install to be able to put the missing files in, But my main concern is getting "My Documents" as i have a lot of college stuff which isn't backed up on my USB drive, And when i go to get access it comes up with access denied because it's private

I have tried This
still didnt help

Tried copying some system32 files from the fresh install to the old see if the file might missing might have been added but still no luck

I did a virus scan and the scanner was able to scan the files in the "My Docume... Read more

if 8 or 10 then attempt to boot at least 5 times and winsows should then detect a problem and boot to the advanced tools (REcovery enviroment) where you can try a startup repair or a system restore.

I need help!i know a bit more than the average person about computers and i can usually resolve my computer issues on my own but im stumped! the first time i had an issue was a couple months ago when amd prompted me to update my graphics driver, so i did....after updating  i restarted the computer and i would get to the windows loading screen then,  a black screen with just the loading "ring" shownig. i restarted the machine a few times asnd got the same thing,  so eventually i got to the startup repair screen and i used system restore to bring the computer back to the point before i installed the new driver. after that it worked fine for a few months.  just last week i had the same issue with the black loading screen so i did a system restore again andt windows loaded fine after that, until the screen went to sleep then it refused to come back on and would not boot up again. i had not updated the graphis driver so im not sure what caused it this time and since then thats what has been happening i have tryed restarting it time after time and it will eather freeze at the black loading screen, or will  boot into windows very slowly, then crash again. i have also tryed system restore a few more times and it just boots up once then crashes again i have even tryed repalcing the hard drive and putting a fresh windows 10 install on it and it, but  just does the same thing again. the strangest thing for me is that it seems t... Hey guys,

Tried searching didnt find anything.

After windows update my computer hangs at the shutting down screen when I restart it, I get the to the windows flag but then the screen goes blank and I never get to the login screen.

This is the second windows update this has happened on. Luckily I can get into safemode and do a system restore (which also hangs at the shut down screen, but works when I do a hard reset).

You guys have any ideas?

Answer:Windows hangs at shutdown screen and wont restart after win update

Let's see if VEW shows what's going on.

Download VEW by Vino Rosso
and save it to your desktop

Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.
Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left

Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).

Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run

Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad
Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply

Hello. This site has helped me many times to remove malware, but this is my first time posting for help. Running windows XP SP3. Explorer pops up an extra window on startup and randomly with random sites (adsonar comes up alot), they often have a large yellow congratulations banner on top. Google links all redirect elsewhere. Yahoo causes intermitent redirects. I ended up with the Antivirus Soft from one of the redirects. Also noticed I cannot access windows update whatsoever , the pages will not load, I get a page reset errorInstalled IE8, on startup it warns me that a program is trying to change my default search engine. Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.
Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying  "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"
The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"
I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

Answer:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.
I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."
Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.
Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0
Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."
Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"
BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files
Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

When I try to get an update from Microsoft it tells me the following:

Install the ActiveX control required to view the website
The website will not display correctly on your computer without this control. To install it:
1. Right-click the Internet Explorer Information Bar. It's located just below the address bar.
2. In the right-click menu, click Install ActiveX Control.
3. In the Security Warning dialog box, click Install.

Note: If the Information Bar doesn't appear, or if you've installed the control but still can't use the website, take these steps to solve the problem.

I have no"bar" to clik below the explorer bar. I have seen it pop up before but it doesn't with this website. This is keeping me from getting updates. Any suggestions???

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

Answer:windows 7 refuses to load and system repair wont load

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

Hello, my windows 7 starter just cannot start. When i last switched off my comp, it has an update on the shut down button, so i shutted down with 20 updates. The next time i switched on my comp, i was unable to even get to the login page. The whole screen is just appeared installing 1 out of 9436 updates with black background. After the 9436 updates, the whole screen turned black with no words, nothing. I cant get to the login page. Then i only can turn off the plug. After that i tried swithcing on again. The computer told me to do a windows fix since my windows is unable to start. Then, the windows open into desktop and i was able to surf the net as normal. I thought wow finally my comp recovered. But i was wrong. THE SAME update appeared on the shut down button. I got no choice but to press it again and the whole problem repeats. Why is there repeat update of the same thing? And it seems like its the update which caused the problem. I just cant use the comp now.... HELP :(

Answer:Win7 wont load after shut down during update

Do a repair/system restore (again). If you can get to the same point again, instead of shutting down, click the start orb then type 'update' (without the quotes) and select Windows Update. click on 'Change Settings' and select "Download Updates but let me decide whether to install them", click OK and then review the available updates and see if you can tell what the problem is.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I was manually installing service pack 2 on windows vista because i was told this would sort out my problem with not being able to do any auto updates, then it got to the stage where it shutdown and was installing 1/3 updates then when it got to the 2nd part it crashed and when i restart the laptop nothing happens at all, just a black screen, no boot menu options or anything like that. I dont have a vista disc or anything like that, does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can solve this problem, sorry if my explanation was short and not very detailed.

thanks in advance

Answer:Vista wont load after update error

Um, I believe you will need some kind of disk. Specifically, you'd need either the Vista disc or the ERD disc. You need to launch a repair on your OS, as it seems to be screwed. Can you get into Safe mode? Can you get into the pre-boot menu at all?

I am helping a friend to determine what the problem could be on her laptop Satelite A215 -S6816 Windows will not load on start up and it says "press F2 for setup, Press F12 for boot device selection menu" however niether one of those options work no matter what I do.

I have tried them on start up but nothing happens. It just wont enter BIOS mode or the menu. It will say please wait or entering menue but again nothing happens.
What else can I try to get into the menue or to get the system to get windows to load? Could this be a motherboard issue? Hardrive issue?

Thanks in advance.

Might be a failing Hard drive. Get to your bios and see if there is any diagnostics there to do a hard drive test. On some motherboards its delete on others its F2. If there is no diagnostics on the bios i would make a USB bootable diagnostics and do that.
I just had the same problems and found out the hard way that it was a hard drive.

When I start up my pc, I get a screen that says, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully, a recent hardware or software change may have caused this, ….etc."
Then I am offered with a bunch of options to either:

1) Start in Safe Mode
2) Safe Mode with Networking
3) Safe Mode with Command Prompt
4) Start Windows Normally
5) Last Known Good Configuration

None of them work, the safe mode ones, show a bunch of lines of code as per normal when starting up safe mode, then it freezes and stops and eventually goes back to the screen mentioned above. Same for 4 and 5, windows blue loading bar screen comes up, then the screen turns black and nothing. After a few mins my computer restarts again and goes back to the screen mentioned above.

I had to update my bios & it seems that the wrong one was downloaded about 3% into installing the laptop just died & won't go back on.

There are no lights & there is no noise from the laptop at all.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

The laptop is a Toshiba satelite L300D.

Answer:Toshiba l300D wont load up after bios update fail

It doesn't sound like it is fixable on your end. Flash BIOSes that go bad, leave you with a doorstop. You'll hear the statement, "I bricked my computer". This means you turned your device into a brick also known as a doorstop.

You might want to post at a good BIOS site

People do send bricked computers off, have the BIOS chip desoldered and a new one soldered on. You might be able to get information on that type of service.

Maybe if you contact Toshiba, they will be able to tell you of some companies that do this.

Alright so I shut down my computer one know and now it won't boot.

I have windows 7 Pro

What works:
I can boot into safe mode with networking and can access computer

What doesn't work:
I can't load windows farther then login screen. Some times login screen does and doesn't load and when it does load I see the character corsair (sp?) flashing but I can't type while other times if I can type it crashes as I log in and I get the BSOD error in the screen shots below.

I tried windows repair but it fails to repair system.

Other info:
I have not added any new hardware recently besides 2 SSDs but I have successfully restarted a couple times with those in already.

I don't recall installing anything new as in programs.

I also don't have any restore points for some reason.....

So does anyone know why I can make it to safe mode with networking but not regular OS and why I am getting these BSODs???

Answer:Need help...Can't load windows after shutdown.

Did you clone the OS to the SSD? You can have issues moving from ATA mode to AHCI for the OS drive.
If that is not the case, try disabling drivers, services, startup items while in safe mode.

I've been working on this computer for a friend for a few days now. The problem was that when the computer would startup, it would just barely get to the windows loading screen and shut down.

I initially decided to try to repair windows, which didn't help at all. Then I decided to reformat and reinstall windows, which likewise didn't help. I decided to check to see if the hard drive was defective after that, so I installed it into my machine, and it worked like a charm. I even tried reformatting and reinstalling windows on my machine and it worked perfectly until I put the hard drive back. After that, I checked to see if the cable was bad, swapped cables and no difference.

I've tried all that I know to do to get this computer functioning again, I just hope it's not a MOBO or BIOS problem.

Please help, any advice would be appreciated.

EDIT: Also I don't think it's a cooling problem, the case is adequately cooled and it will shut down from stone cold.
Also, it will not boot from Ultimate Boot CD, or into safe mode.

So basically, my friend was doing something, where he wished for his PC to turn off 6 hours later, so I told him that he could use the shortcut "Shutdown -s -t 21600" (right click on desktop > new > shortcut).

Now, the day after, his PC will only load "the motherboard screen", not sure what this is called, but this is how he described it to me...

So, the issue is that it will not proceed to load Windows.
Would this really have anything to do with the shortcut that he used?
I believe that it just uses the regular shutdown built-into Windows.

Well, really, that's not my question...
What can he do to fix it?
Otherwise he'll have to make the guy that built the PC look at it, and have to wait over a week until he can use it, and we just reached the weekend..

Edit: it goes into the motherboard interface, and doesn't start loading windows, thought it is not completely stuck; he is still able to choose 'save changes', 'exit' and all that.

Answer:PC won't load Windows after the day after using a shutdown shortcut

This is some help output for shutdown:

/t xxx Set the time-out period before shutdown to xxx seconds.
The valid range is 0-315360000 (10 years), with a default of 30.
If the timeout period is greater than 0, the /f parameter is
/c "comment" Comment on the reason for the restart or shutdown.
Maximum of 512 characters allowed.
/f Force running applications to close without forewarning users.
The /f parameter is implied when a value greater than 0 is
specified for the /t parameter.

/f Force running applications to close without forewarning users.

It is possible that on shutdown a running critical process was interrupted.

I don't think that it was a Microsoft/Windows process - at least they usually "know" how to respond to shutdown events.

The remedy would be to run "StartUp Repair" from installation/recovery CD/DVD/USB.

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

nothing is working right at all on this thing?

why wont the updates work and why cant i install my ipod software?

Try reinstalling 2000 again and if you don't have service pack 4, I suggest you download it and apply it. You only need SP4, you can skip 1,2 and 3 since 4 contain previous fixes.

Hello for some reason windows takes forever to load and shutdown before I reinstall windows I thought someone may know my problem. My computer loads and boots to the signup screen in like 5 seconds. But when I log into windows it takes about 1 minute or so for everything to load. I can see the desktop and icons but if I click on an icon or try opening a program it doesn't work or freezes. It didn't use to do this I dont have that much on my computer. 600GB of a 1 terabyte hardrive is all I have installed. I used to actually have 900GB of random junk on this computer and it windows would load no problem. My specs are: Intel i5-3450 @3.10Ghz , 8GB of RAM , and a NVIDIA GT 640. Oh I also have a terabyte hardrive wich I mentioned.

Basically this is a common problem with some poorly written progs that dont terminate and instead interrupt a system kill.

Im sure its a process since safemode reboots and terminates correctly.

There are a lot of processes/services that startup and I dont want to look through all of them.

Is there anyway to log, or dump the final termination sequence so I can see which is the last process to cut out before the termination.

I dont get why windows does this, a kill -9 on unix system is final, there is no boggle....

Answer:System Windows 8 wont shutdown

Hi.This could be an issue with hardware or just the way that Windows 8 works. By default, Windows 8 "shut down" performs a hybrid shutdown, which enables the computer to shut down the hard drive and other systems, but also keeps a few system components working so that startup is as fast as possible. To fully shut down the system, open Command Prompt and type "shutdown /s /t 0" (without the quotes.) This should shut the system completely down. However, provided the hard drive is not constantly spinning while it is "off," I do not think this will be a burden on your computer.Good luck,Adam

Last night I updated windows 8.1 from windows 8.
It got to the stage where it needs to restart so it done that started the configarations and once it reached 100% it restarted.

Since then what happens is when i press power on the samsung logo comes on the screen then the black screen with the windows picture then the bsod comes up for around half a second and it restarts. then it constantly does this.

The whole cycle only takes a few seconds.

Ive tried booting in safe mode but this isnt working so I downloaded kav rescue on another computer and saved it on a flash drive, But it wont boot off this either.

Any ideas?

Answer:Windows wont start after 8.1 update wont boot in safe mode

What does the BSOD state? Most times it is a driver issue with the Display drivers. Other times it is hardware.

Was not simple trying to clarify my problem in a small title. My online classes begin in 5 days, I am desperate here! Here we go. 2 days ago I tried to import pics from my phone to laptop. I have had this laptop only for 3-4 months, and just mainly used it for school. Before halfway through the importing of pics process it rejects my phone, and will no longer recognize it (Samsung Galaxy S5 active btw). I did so much research, and tried so many usb settings tweeks, but nothing. It hates my phone for some reason.

Then at a point during all that, I reset my laptop and it just gets stuck with black screen and circle bubbles. Doing all the things you can think of on google, so many searches. It goes from that to getting stuck on welcome screen, then doing more work and searching, I get it to go to my desktop, but its only a black screen with mouse cursor. Before this point I couldn't even get it to boot through safe mode, it would get stuck. I can get safe mode now, but wont let me access any setting or options, no control panel. Not even start menu! I could only get into task and device managers. At that point I saw "!"s on my display adapters, video card, network card, and a couple of other visual type devices. Tried to uninstall, reinstall drivers, nothing. I've done so many things to resolve this, but ask if I've done it anyway, please. Before I left for work earlier, I just gave up. I started the reformat process from the reset pc setting. After it finished I p... Read more

I have tried a lot of solutions i found in the internet but didnt succed. My problem: All began with updating Windows 7 Starter, suddenly I coudnt shutdown the netbook proper. When I click "Shutdown" the shut down process is like normal but then when its nearly done and the screen is already black the "POWER" and "Battery" lights are still on. From time to time the fan is still running either. In the end I have to shutdown by pressing the power button for a while. I tried: 1. Install a new Windows "Pro Version"2. Updating all drivers from lenovo incl. flashing the bios.3. I unchecked  all energy options of all possible devices in the device manager. (like usb-root..) On top I tried to change sata controller working mode in bios from AHCI to Compatible mode -> blue screen for a second... Please help me!!!

Answer:S10-3 Shutdown Problem - wont shutdown, Fan, power and battery lights on..

hi danudmw,
Can you try the following:
1. Reload BIOS to defaults by pressing F9 and press F10. Boot into Windows normally and try to shut turn the computer OFF.
2. Boot into Windows using only the battery or AC adapter then try to turn the computer off.
3. Boot into Safe Mode and try to turn the computer off
If you still get the same problem, try to reseat the PC components (i.e. HDD, RAM, WLAN etc.) by following disassembly instructions on this website or on this video.
Hope this helps.

Hi. I have been searching forever on forums for an answer, and i'm sorry, I can't find a solution that works for me.

I installed a legit copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and when I shut down the laptop, it goes through the normal processes, says logging off, then shutting down, then the screen goes black, but laptop remains on. My power button is lit up, my fans still run. The only way to get it to physically shut down is to hold that power button down. Same thing when I try to sleep it, or even restart. All my drivers are up to date, no conflicts in device manager. What is going on here?

Hello everyone!

Firstly i wanna apologize my very bad english spelling skills and say that i?m new to this forum.

My problem started about month ago, very often when i try to shutdown or reboot my windows suddenly everything gets blurry on my desktop and nothing happens. I can move mouse and use keyboard, but it only reacts to ctrl+alt+del and when i press that combination it goes to that "login" screen.

If i try to shut it down from there, screen just goes black and nothing happens. Luckily today when i pressed ctrl+alt+del it also popped up this error message:

dwm.exe - Application Error : The instruction at 0x690043f0 referenced memory at 0x690043f0. The memory could not be written.

Click on OK to terminate the program

When i clicked it windows would shutdown normally as it should be, but this was a first time it popped up and usually i?ve had to shut down my pc from power button when my desktop crashes at shutdown.

The weird thing is that windows management log claims that this pop up window has shown itself always whwn i get that error. but anyways this was the first time i saw it.

I have reinstalled my system but that was no use, i?m starting to get pretty confused.

I have no problems when windows is on or when i?m gaming, browsing internet, listening music, multitasking etc etc.

Only problem is this crashing what keeps happening sometimes when i try to shutdown/ reboot my pc. my conclusion is that DWM.exe wont shutdown pro... Read more

For these issues, the general troubleshooting steps are as follows.Check for viruses.Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download (do not start the trial) and make sure it is updated. Do not run a scan yet.
Download VIPRE Rescue - VIPRE Computer Recovery Solution from Sunbelt Software but do not unzip it yet
Download the Fakerean removal tool but do not run it yet.
Start your computer in Safe Mode
Unzip VIPRE Rescue and let it run.
Run a full scan with Malwarebytes.
Run the fakerean removal tool.
Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log
Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors. Post back if it continues to show errors after the third run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

does any one know what the problem could be?

Hw can i resolve this problem?

Answer:Windows xp wont load up

If you cannot get past this very early part of the Boot process then typically that would mean that the Boot routine does not know where to find Windows.

In simplified terms the Windows XP startup process follows this sequence (please note that this is simpliified)

PHASE 1 : Start > POST Sequence > Partition Table > MBR > Boot Code > ntldr

PHASE 2 : ntldr > boot.ini > > ntoskrnl.exe > hal.dll > REGISTRY > winlogon.exe > lsass.exe > User Logon

If the sequence gets as far as ntldr and ntldr is not found then a message "NTLDR is missing" will be displayed. If you are not getting that message then the boot sequence is probably not getting as far as ntldr.

If the problem lies with the Partition Table then you should receive the message "Invalid partition table".

Now the only part of the sequence that occurs between the Partition Table and the ntldr is the MBR > Boot Code. Therefore if you are getting neither an "Invalid partion table" nor an "NTLDR is missing" message then the most likely cause is a corrupt MBR and/or Track 0.

If you use imaging software such as Acronis True Image (or similar) then all you need do is restore the MBR and Track 0, reboot and the problem should be resolved.

If you don't have an image of the MBR and Track 0 then get back to the Forum.

Hi, I was playing a game one night and then my computer froze up. I turned it off and on via the power button. When it started up the first time Dell loading screen came up but it never loaded. I turned it off and on again, and this time only a cursor displayed in the top left corner was displayed. I've been searching on the internet for a fix for the past month but found nothing that worked. I tried taking out different things such as the harddrive and seeing if it would work to no avail. Today I switched my Geforce 8800 GT with the one that originally came with the computer and turned it on. This is the only thing that poped up in the start up screen, 113-A67626-103 RV516 PRO DDR2 BIOS 600e/400m Channel AB.

I have a Dell XPS 410 with all stock stuff except for the video card and extra ram. Running windows 7

Oh also the keyboard and mouse don't work. When I plug in my keyboard it lights up for a second but turns off.

Any help would be appreciated thanks in advanced.

How much RAM do you have in the PC? If you have 2 x Sticks try removing one at a time to try and resolve the problem.

Wont go in to safe mode, command promt or back to good configuration. The blue screen is not displayed long enough for me to get an error code. How can I get into windows to repair? So first of all Vista has been working fine before for a long time until now and no my computer was not upgraded to Vista, it came with it. The computer will turn on perfectly fine and when i click to log in on the welcome screen, vista wont load. So i went to safe mode and booted there but it took awfully long to load explorer and everything else and also task manager will not show up but its little graph icon shows up in the start menu and the CPU seems to be fluctuating constantly from 1-100 percent. I've also tried system restore to 3 different points with no success but one point which is the point of the date in which i started having this problem wont succesfully restore as in it will not complete, it freezes in the middle of it. So i tried to install HiJackThis but it wont install and i thought that maybe installation of the On2 VP7 codec was the problem and when i try to run its uninstall it wont let it uninstall. So my question is how do i get my computer to boot normally again and fix this problem?

Edit: got task manager to open on a reboot but nothing is showing in processes or anything. CPU seems to be running normally too but still everything is very very slow and logging in on safe mode still takes forever and logging in normally would probably take twice as long.. resource monitor shows that CPU usage is at 0-1 percent and used physical memory is only 39%. So i do not know what is at fault. Should i keep trying to restore to that date that takes f... Read more

Answer:Windows wont load

Howdy Ravensbane..

Have you tried pressing last known good config (the last time it worked) I knw that is not the exact wording but something like that towards the bottom.
If that does not work you might want to open the case (while unplugged) and look for a small silver battery and remove it for a good 30 seconds then put it back in..This will reset the BIOS (Basic input output) that should cure your woes

Question: windows wont load

hey guys been awhile since i've had a problem, but here it goes. I turned my computer off last night and when i went to turn it on this morning, windows wouldn't load. It went to the screen that says you can start it in safe mode or normal mode or any of the other ones. But when i choose any mode the little white bar at the bottom of the screen loads, but then it freezes. Or if i choose safe mode it floods my screen with a bunch of command lines then freezes. I need a little help here guys because i am baffled. I know this has happened to me before but i do not remember how to fix it.

I have windows XP
amd 2600+ xp
asus a7n8x-x
gig of ram

any help would be great appreciated as im usually pretty good at backing things up but i need school work on there for finals coming up.....thanks you and happy holidays

I have an emachines (E525) with windows 7. When I try to start up my computer I get directed to a windows error recover screen. At that point I am given 2 options.
1. Launch start up repair
2. Start windows normally.
If I pick option 2 I get stuck in a continuous re-booting loop that brings me right back to these options. If I pick option one. I just get a blank black screen.
I do not have any kind of recovery disk. what can I do? Any help would be appreciated

Answer:windows 7 wont load

There may be a 'recovery' partition on the hard drive. If there is (it's often hidden from Windows Explorer but the partition will be visible in Disk Management) you can invoke the recovery routine by pressing a specific key during the initial boot process. I believe that key is f11 for eMachines computers.

Hey guys/girls, i am posting here not really because I have an issue about not being able to load into windows. But its more of a question that I am asking, I have tried to find the answer out there, but its just not finding what exactly it is i am trying to do.

I do computer work on the side, and I have no copies of any windows CD, I have had a few people ask me to fix their computers because they cannot load into Windows. I am able to run Ubuntu to recover their data, but how to I get their Windows back up and running. Is there like a recovery disk available online or something, I dont know. But 95% of people do not make backup disc or have their CD's. What is my option, without installing a illegil copy.

Question: Windows wont load

The other day we had some power spikes and I sadly discoved my power strip didnt protect my computer. It must have restared my computer at least twice before I got to it. Now all I get is the screen that says Windows did not shut down properly and how would I like to restart (Safe Mode, with networking, last known config or normally). I have tried all of the options, it shows the loading windows which stops 1/2 way, then I get a blue screen and then it returns to the Windows did not shut down properly screen. I can not get beyond this point.

I dont know all the info about my computer by memory and cant access it so I apologize for what I'm lacking. Its an HP Media Center m7160n, Windows XP Media Center.

I have tried disconnecting everything but the mouse, monitor & keyboard. Unplugging the power supply, then replugging it in and starting the computer but nothing changes.

Thanks in advance and any help is greatly appreciated!!

Answer:Pc wont load windows

The jolt has either damaged the hard drive or corrupted Windows. I hope you have back-ups of your data. It's an all-in-one computer and difficult to work on but you should have little difficulty reaching the hard drive. Maybe you can repair Windows if it's a software problem otherwise you will need to replace the hard drive.

Windows 7 started freezing after 1 month of use. It locks up in the "Loading Windows" screen during the animation. I have tried using Windows repair upon boot but it locks up also. Sometimes i get a 2-Beep sound coming from my CPU which should signify a CMOS Setting Error. I have tried booting in safe mood which still locks up. Attempted last known good configurations. Also i have removed the battery from the CPU and reentered BIOS and tried "Fail Safe Configuration" as well as "Optimal Configuration". I switched HDDs. Answer:Windows 7 Wont Load

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Did you replace the CMOS battery? How long does the computer stay on for before locking up?

Do the following: Boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Then type: chkdsk /f and restart the computer.

Let Windows check for a bad hard drive.

After that is done. Download Memtest86+ and use IMGBurn to but it to a CD. Then change the boot order to boot from thr CD and allow MemTest to get 20 passes. That will check for bad RAM. Write down any errors (red) and post back.

Try this. As it's booting, continuously tap F8. This will (hopefully) take you to a screen where you can choose boot options. Try 'Last known good configuration'.

If that doesn't work, come back.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Las Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration (Your most recent settings that worked)

Start Windows Normally

i've had a problem with my other computer for some time now and have tried many things but to no avail, maybe someone can help.

Its an old P3 dell with 256 MB RAM.

When i try to load windows by turning it on, it first does the whole bios thing, checks the ram etc, but no sign of windows loading, it just goes from the bios stuff to a blank, black screen with a horizontal flashing line on the very top left of the screen.

Now i know it detects the drive as it shows up during the first loading.
I know the hard-drive and windows installation on it work as they work on my other computer.

So far ive tried, different hard-drives, re-installing XP many times, changing graphics cards, trying with different ram sticks, taking out the sound card., but im still in the same position.

Could it be the motherboard or bios or something?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
