How to check your client-side on win7?

Question: How to check your client-side on win7?

All modern browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer has the ability to store megabytes of private data onto your computer's hard disk, also known as client-side data storage. This means when you go to a website, it can use your computer's hard drive as a client-side storage to store any data type, including sensitive private data like credit card information, health records, current location, your login data, IP, website you have visited from, how many times you've visited a website and when, collect any data and track your activity across the web.

Preferred Solution: How to check your client-side on win7?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Problem: I'm trying to retrieve a client-side <form> element value into a server-side variable. The code works if I explicitly set strCCLastNameValue = (a data value in the db table column "care_Contact_Last_Name" such as "Jones"). I hope I have explained the situation adequately. Thanks for any suggestions on resolving this issue.
Here's the code in an asp file...

So recently, I received a blue screen of death. The error was something along the lines of:
page_fault_in_nonpaged_area

When it restarted, windows advised me to perform a system file check. So I left my computer for a bit, and when I came back it was already at the logon screen. However, when I logged on and started firefox, first thing I noticed was that all my bookmarks and some extensions had been wiped.
I then tried to start Microsoft Word but I received the following error:

&quot;The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect&quot;;

I receive that error for most of my other programs.

When I tried to run event viewer, it says:

&quot;MMC could not create the snap-in&quot;

Please help. Is it possible to restore my applications without reinstalling them all?

Hi!

I need help with big error. I'd try to install Adobe Premier Element, but i got error message "the application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect, please see application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail"

After that nothing on my windows is working, except 64 bit explorer and only few programs. I cant listen mp3, watch videos, messenger and email is not working, i get that same error.

I read that it has something to do with tracelog and some file with missing parameters. I made tracelog but i cant open that file with any editor what it says need to fix. Heres my tracelog:

Server OS Windows Server 2012 Essentials
Client OS: Windows 7 Professional

I recently upgraded from Home Server 2011 to Essentials 2012. This required me to create a Domain which I did, and the other PC's connect with no problem. Using the same procedure to connect my main machine, and it does not see any other computers that are in the domain when I go to network places, not even the server. I have checked that the primary DNS is pointing to 2012 Essentials server. I can connect to the other PCs by manually typing in the other PC names.

Another problem is that I cannot access the shared folders in the Dashboard. I log in as an administrator and have checked permissions. When I try to access these shared folders it gives me the access denied message.

Does anyone know what is going on with these two problems?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Answer:One client not seeing other computers in the Domain. Client OS Win7, Server OS 2012

I didn't use 2012 Essentials yet - only regular 2012 and domain is working without any problem.
Main thing is that client pc must have dns connected to server - on server you can set forwarding for external internet access.
If you have problems with domain you could try rejoin to domain on client PC - you'll verify then that everything is configured properly - I can recommend tool called Profile Wizard http://www.forensit.com/Profwiz/ It's great for rejoining to domain or when you want to switch to other domain without lose your profile.
Maybe Dasboard require for local administrator privileges to work properly ?

Question: Client side timer

Is there a way to have a client side timer using Java update a field in a database when the forms post function is used? Seems like it wiold be simple enough to set the timer up as a variable..I have never sued Java in conjunction with ASP and am wondering if it would be a problem with the priority in processing. I have seen something similar using session variables, but I want to try to avoid that.

I am trying to connect to my Draytek 2820 router using L2TP with a preshared key.

The client is running Windows 7 64 Bit Professional and uses the Draytek smart VPN client software to connect.

I can connect using PPTP without any issue.

However if I try and connect using L2TP I get the 789 error.

Question: Client Side Proxy

Hi,

My system froze up during a shutdown yesterday and when I hit ctrl-alt-del to end the task it was stuck on I noticed that the program was "client side proxy."

This sounded suspicious to me like something to do with cookies or something so I did a quick google search and found a lot of information on client side proxies but it was too technical for me to make much sense out of.

I am not having any problems that I know of with my system but if anyone can give me a simple explanation of what a client side proxy is supposed to do - and if it is a sign of a virus or something - I would appreciate it. -Dan

I have been frustrated with lag ever since I upgraded to a new Windows XP machine a few months back and I heard a whisper that XP may be the cause of it.I am running an AMD XP processor at 2.0 Gig with a GeForce 4 TI 4200 graphics card, 56k modem using AOL.I have no problems with offline games but online games are unplayable about 50% of the time due to lag.The 2 games I play mostly are Everquest and planetside.Planetside, when it is lagging, will allow me to move freely, however, certain actions , such as reloading a weapon, take 10-20 seconds before they register, the odd thing is that see other players carrying on their business as usual, so clearly data is being exchanged between myself and the server yet I still experience these delays.Evequest exhibits similar behaviour in that spells dont regster as being cast but I see other players doing things. Finally, when things get really bad my modem gives up and I get disconnected.I have no problems at all with web browsing and downloading files.I have been told that this is client side lag, but it means little to me and I was wondering if anyone can help me with this problem. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Windows XP and Client side Lag ??

Lag in online games is due to a combination of slow ping times and/or packet loss - see click here for a useful guide to lag.If the only thing that has changed is the move to XP, and your perception of lag has increased, I would investigate a newer driver for your modem. See if this helps with reducing packet loss.

If I use vnc to run an app at another computer, I can't print out from that app on my local computer. I can only print to the printer or network printers where remote computer is located.

So how could I print on the client side when connected to a remote computer? Would pcanywere allow client side printing?

The computer hosting the app is a nt4 server and I need to connect to it through the internet from a windows xp pc on a win2k network. Also the building where the 2 computers are located are about 150-200 yards apart.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Hi,

I would like to know if this is possible. I would like to broadcast a second SSID from my DrayTek Vigor 2860n which is running a client side VPN.

The router has a preset client VPN called ZenMate but it has huge joining fees.

The idea would be for the 1 SSID to be behind a VPN while another SSID (from the same router) is used for max speeds.

Hi, Can someone explain what Client side scripting is, and, what are the advantages of using it. Maybe even give some examples !Thanks.

Answer:Client Side Scripting ?

Scripts can run either on the Web server (server-side scripting) or on the user's computer (client-side scripting) so a client-side cript is one that is processed on your computer.Server-side scripts are normally used for dynamic interaction with the website visitor. The visitor may input information which is passed around different pages of a web site - a shopping cart for online trading is a good example of server-side scripting.Client-side scripting is most often written using JavaScript. You can also use VBScript and one or two others. Basically, any script that is embedded into the HTML that makes up the web page and is processed by your browser when you view the page is a client-side script.JavaScript is an object-oriented scripting language. When used for client-side scripting the JavaScript is part of the HTML document and it runs inside a Web browser. It manipulates elements on a Web page by means of a Document Object Model, or DOM. A DOM is an API for interacting with a Web page. An API is an Application Program Interface, or a way of gaining access to a program to get it to do things that yuo want it to do.Here is a very simple example of a JavaScript snippet embedded into an HTML web page:<html><head><title>Hello World JavaScript Example</title></head><body><script language="JavaScript">document.write("Hello World!");</script></body></html>When a site visitor reqests that page, it 'runs' the JavaScript program in their web browser and... I've been scouring the net trying to find others with this issue or something that would cause it but I cannot. I have folder redirection setup with offline files enabled, but it seems that client side caching is not enabled. When I look at the properties of any of the files, the location of the file is the network share location, not the local machine. I do not have profiles specified...don't really understand their point...probably should learn that as they seem to be used...though I kinda thought it was for roaming profiles only. Anyways, any ideas on why CSC isn't working?

** Edited this to simplify it.

I recently deployed a sketchy 802.11b/g wifi network using some equipment a customer had purchased. (2 Apple Airport Expresses in wireless distribution mode) There was a lot of obstruction over a large distance and it would basically not work in the target area, although there was a faint signal. The distance is about ~120ft, through several rooms and out into the garage. I recently went back to iron it out.

I installed a 200mw USB adapter (Atheros AR5005) with a +8db gain omni antenna on the client computer. The increased signal strength was dramatic; however, I was still unable to fully connect. The wireless itself would establish a connection, but there was no communication with the router, as evident by the inability to lease a DHCP address, access web admin or surf the net. The wireless network works fine if we move the computer closer to the last airport (I can verify the last airport in the WDS chain has connectivity).

Despite getting a great link, it seems like the router and the client computer are not communicating at the distance my client wants. The network is detectable by the 'regular' wireless card, but it is hovering around 0-1 bars and stays pretty much unconnectable. With the new USB adapter and antenna, it is 3-4 bars and connects with little issue.

I also tried a 500mw USB wireless adapter with a +8db antenna with simliar results (RTL8187 chip).

So, the question is, why doesn't a high powered wifi card and... Read more

Answer:Is client-side-only wireless gain not enough?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any ideas as to how the school technicians have blocked proxy software from our school network? I used to use a program called UltraSurf to tunnel through our web filter software, but somehow the technicians have disabled it. I am presuming that they have blocked the port that it uses, but I do nto know enough about Windows Firewall, Security Policies and general networking to think of a way I might be able to unblock this.

Is it possible to block ports on client machines by changing settings solely on the server?

Could they have blocked the port on my machine?

And most importantly: is there any way of "tricking" the server into thinking that UltraSurf is legitimate traffic or removing the policy blocking the port on my machine?

Thanks,
Richard

Answer:Client-side port blocking?

The school could just be blocking access for all computers to any of the proxy servers used by UltraSurf and other proxy programs at the school's router or firewall.

I do not believe TSG rules permit giving assistance in tricking, hacking or in any way circumventing web filters run by you school's administration.

I'm looking for some software or a fix for my family PC that will throttle their in and out traffic to the net. I need something that I can install on their PC to limit their bandwidth to slightly faster than dialup speed. I have seen tons of software that I can install on a gateway computer for doing this, but I'm trying to avoid building or finding another PC if it is at all possible. I have a Linksys wireless router that they will be connecting to the net through. Any input on something of this sort would be fantastic. Thanx.

NOTE: I'll also take a WinXP fix if you know of anything that could do anything like this.

Answer:Client Side Throttle Software/Fix

You'd almost need QoS on the router to do so. Assign 10% or whatever total bandwidth. I don't know of any software that can do this. Something that would allow you to port throttle at the router.

Get a switch that supports QoS and hook em to that is my only suggestion that I can come up with.

Hey all,

Here is the situation: a remote user had not synchronized with the server for quite some time. One of the techs disabled offline folders, restarted, then deleted the CSC folder under Windows, then re-enabled offline folders, and ran a synchronizations.

I was able to recover the deleted CSC folder with Power Data Recovery and I've tried importing the contents of all the files and folders back under CSC again in Windows and of course it isn't that easy.

I've tried using csccmd 1.1 to try to extract information but I'm not having much luck.

Anyone have any ideas?

Two Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit computers on the same network, the desktop has a printer shared that the laptop would like to access.

The oddness began after I managed to get the laptop to access the desktop via Start > Run > \\desktop, successfully connected up the printer via filesharing and tested it, but every time I restart the laptop it decides that it can't find the desktop any more.

However, if I do Start > Run \\192.168.0.6 (the IP address of the desktop) from the laptop, it connects successfully every time. I've set things up like that for now, but I can't say I've ever seen an issue like this before.

If I do a name lookup on either machine, it resolves the desktop's IP address correctly, regardless of restarting the laptop. If I do \\192.168.0.6, let that open a connection successfully, then do \\desktop, it works. If I just reboot and do \\desktop, it doesn't.

Ideally I would like it to work via computer names so that the desktop doesn't require a static IP.

Answer:Win7 <-> Win7 file sharing issue after client reboot

These days we use something called User permissions and security settings to establish safe reliable network connections.

You can just right click the folders you want to share and choose the security and permissions settings, they tend to stay put after that. Or you can click on the "share" tabs and go from there. If you are using all Windows 7 machines in this network then setting up a Home group is the way to go.

Hi guys.
My computer seriously don't want me to set up an ad hoc connection channeling through it.
(I was able to set up other computers as servers before)

So currently I can get the client computer, not just to ping the host, but a full trace of a dns address (that is cmd: tracert www dot google dot com)
On the other hand, I can't get the host computer to ping the client. although both the client and host ip information registers correctly, I get request timed out. (Both computers get the right ip, subnet mask, dns and dhcp server - just like the manuals say it should be done.)

I'm losing my mind over it. I have both firewalls down because I've found out that the host's firewall is blocking the client from trace requests.

...and if it wasn't obvious, the problem is I can't get the client to use the internet.

I'm using ICS on the host, windows xp sp3 on both.

btw I know the (cmd 'netsh bridge show a' trick, but when you use ICS (and not a bridge between the wifi and network connection) that command is useless, just gets you back to prompt.

Thanks for any help 8)

We have a Windows Server 2008 R2 print server. Our clients are Windows 8.1, with Group Policy specifying shared printer connections at logon. Many times the printer connections will fail, with the following events showing in the Event Log:

My c:\windows\csc folder is over 28 GB in size. I googled and found that I needed to delete offline files. When I viewed the files it seems every network user is caching offline files on MY machine. So I deleted the files (which took a long time and eventually crashed explorer). At one point the folder had shrunk to 3.5MB. But after the explorer crash and reboot, the folder is once again 28GB. However, when I click view offline files, there are none. I have since disabled offline files. Can I delete this folder safely?

Edit: Running XP Pro

Answer:Client Side Caching folder problem

I would backup them files just in case someone needs something. Its weird they are on your computer and not theres. The IT guy before me used to use the feature and it was a pain and rather useless. Since then I setup Syncback to copy or sync files from their machine to H: drives. You should be able to delete it without problems but deleted a few at a time, not the entire 28gb or it will probably crash again.

Ive been having an issue for several weeks now where windows will not allow programs to launch web based items, ie: Acrobat opening links in Pdf's, Any program trying to open help tabs or 'about' pages, Loader screens for games not allowing to open website links for accounts, forums, downloads etc...

At the same time I noticed my menu's in all programs also changed the manner in which they opened- they cascade to the farthest left alignment instead of classic right side orientation- this applies to the desktop right click as well.

At first I ignored these as they were only annoying and I thought they would resolve themselves thru future updates- not the case.

Any help would be great- Im not illiterate to PC operation and have checked the usual culprits of my Firewalls and such- I was unable to try and back track which specific update could have cause this though as I allowed it to exist for several weeks.

Im Bumping this thread. Ive tried researching more and cant find any suggestions online other than firewall settings, and Im 100% sure this isnt the problem.

If I wasnt clear enough in my first thread- I am currently unable to open any Link to the web outside of Internet Explorer, wheter its in a preloader, fullscreen running game, any type of typcal .exe program: ie. Word, Excel, Acrobat, 3rd party software- doesnt matter its any link or option that I have to physcially click- if its accessable by a different means then it works fine. Its not that I cant access the internet- its that i cant launch it thru other programs by clicking.

I was wondering if there is a enterprise client side firewall that you can recommened.

Id like this firewall to be installed on our servers and would restrict connectivity to certain machines and via certain ports. Ex: Server 1 should only be able to connect to Server 2 via port 4444 and vice versa, nothing else.

These machines are Windows2003. Maybe there is another way to my madness instead of a client side firewall.

Answer:Enterprise level client side firewall

Ok, so your saying you want to keep your internal servers from talking to eachother except for specific ports. I don't know of any Enterprise level software, but I am sure something is out there, as their is alot of consumer level software firewalls that can do this. Look into Symantec, and various others that do consumer level software, as they might have a Corprate/Enterprise level solution as well.

Ill post another thread, hopefully someone will help this time.

On a main computer, I have ccproxy running. On the client computers, I either have to type in the main computer's proxy IP address and ports in every program or run Sockscap and make profiles for every program I use.

Is there a program that will route all traffic to the host's IP address so that I can have programs stay on "Direct Connection to the Internet"? Sockcap does do that, but I still have to set up a profile for each program.

I want to be able to have all traffic from any program run through the proxy without having to manually set each up.

Any ideas?

Answer:Good, free client-side proxy software?

You could set the gateway on each client to that of your proxy server, assuming it listens on all ports.

Not sure if I have this is in the correct area. I asked this in another area but may have been wrong area so I am asking here as well. I have windows 7 pro on my main (at the office) machine and windows 10 home (laptop) I have done the suggested
registry changes, the group policy suggestions and still cannot see a microphone on the client (laptop) I have a usb headset but the mic is not available and shows none available while viewing sound options on main machine from client machine. I have a new
version of windows 10 pro but have not installed until I find out which version or versions allow this. I attempting to use a ham radio remotely but even if I try to use skype on main machine while remote on laptop no mic is available. I can control main computer
and hear playback audio but no recording audio available.

I have pulled out most of my hair ;-)

Thanks in advance

Hi,
We're using group policy to manage application data redirection and are seeing some odd issues. Currently we enable offlines and have the background sync settings to constantly be online, i.e. the redirected folders are consitently writing to the network
location, unless it's unavailable, in which case the client side cache is used. We also redirect all user folders to the network (including application data).

We're doing some testing and have made changes as follows:

FOLDER REDIRECTION GPO (COMPUTER)
- Offline files enabled
- Background sync enabled (every 30 minutes with a 15 minute variance)
- Blockout start time and blockout duration 0
- Enable background syns for shares in user selected "work offline"
- Slow link mode enabled when connection to the \\<user>\<homefolder> is less than 1ms
- Transparent caching enabled (30ms latency)
- Remove make available offline

FOLDER REDIRECTION GPO (USER)
- AppData(Roaming) -> Redirect to the local user path
- Do not grant exclusive rights
- Policy removal -> Restore contents

We applied the computer GPO first and then after a couple of hours applied the user GPO. For most of our users on wired connections this worked fine, however we noticed some odd behaviour:

1. Some users experienced a failed logon (due to reasons such as loss of wireless connection during logon), this resulted in the user having to wait 30 minutes instead of the expected 4 or minutes ini... Read more

Offline Files :
The CSC (Client Side Cache) on fully patched Windows 7 machine would intermittently (Every other day)  flush and rebuild itself when restarting the machine.
The Offline files are redirected ?My Documents?, ?Desktop? and then failing over between DFS target servers (Windows 2008 R2) and shutting the laptop down causes the CSC to rebuild. Its like the Cache thinks its corrupt and rebuilds.

Anyone experienced this issue at all?
Can I provide any further info?

I need to make the server's D: Drive appear to the client as the C: Drive.

The server's C: Drive is for system files.

The server's D: Drive is for everything else.

I want to install educational software on the server so that students using TS can access the software from their TS clients. (Note: the licensing issues are already resolved)

A lot of old and/or badly designed software assumes that the installation is on the C: Drive, and allows no deviation from that. I could simply install the badly-designed software on the server's C: Drive, where all of the system files are located. But, AFAIK, Hell hasn't frozen over - and I am not going to invite trouble by letting rogue software work its magic on the system files.

I haven't been able to find what I need on the 'web, or in MS documentation. Surely this is feasible with Terminal Services, given that Citrix had this functionality 10 years ago. MS is usually only a few years behind Citrix when it comes to features.

As an aside, for a couple of years I used "virtual drive" software that functioned as a sort-of-jukebox for serving up programs. When it worked, it was great. However, its database was easily corrupted and was a constant administrative headache.

Are you in the UK?
If so which ISP are you with? As most can run IMAP connections, and will automatically allow you to "train" the spam filter, by putting e-mails into the spam box.
If you arn't in the UK, I have found Spam Fighter however I have never used it myself.

So I am looking for a client side windows piece of software that can be scheduled to backup/copy/send data from a field laptop directly to a mapped network drive. Ideally the software would do it whenever the laptop was reconnected to the network drive. I know there is probably something obvious I am missing but apparently I am missing the neccesary keywords to find it when I search. I appreciate any help guys.

Answer:Client Side Software to Backup/Send Files to Network Drive

SyncToy could do it, and it's free from Microsoft. I don't know if you can have it kick off when the drive was connected, but it can be scheduled, and also run manually very easily.

I run a very simple .bat file every 5 mins:

@echo OFF
cd c:\user_name_directory
mkdir foo
exit

I also run a similar .bat file to remove the foo directory:
@echo OFF
cd c:\user_name_directory
rmdir foo
exit

I use task scheduler to schedule and execute each task, with each task being separated by about 2 mins, so the directory is first created, then two min later is is removed, and the loop repeats.

When either task runs, I get a window that flashes up on the screen and then instantaneously disappears. I can't tell what window it is, but I suspect it is the Command prompt, e.g. DOS window.

In any case, can someone tell me how to eliminate the flashing window side effect??

Thank you!

Answer:undesirable .bat file side effects in Win7 pro 64-bit

Hi threejeeps and welcome to W7 Forums

That is an unfortunate side effect of invoking the command console.

Try the following vbscript files instead:

Code:
strFolder = "C:\test"
set objFSO = createobject ("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
if objFSO.FolderExists (strFolder) = False then
objFSO.CreateFolder strFolder
else
objFSO.DeleteFolder strFolder
end if
This code carries out both the creation and deletion of a folder, alternating with each execution cycle. If you require explicitly separate files for each function, use the following pieces of code:

Create Folder:

Code:
strFolder = "C:\test"
set objFSO = createobject ("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
objFSO.CreateFolder strFolder
Delete Folder:

Code:
strFolder = "C:\test"
set objFSO = createobject ("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
objFSO.DeleteFolder strFolder

Good evening, I have had this issue just recently. I use 1920X1080 with a radeon 4850HD graphics card. Everything was just fine, however a black bar has appeared on the left side only. I had plugged my cable into the tv to play a game, and when i replaced it back into the monitor the bar appeared..

I would also like to note that this issue only happens on this resolution. Any other resolution works like a charm. I have used google search and none of the suggestions worked for me. I have 2 hard drives with windows on them, and the issue happens on both devices. I have also used the monitors menu to slide the screen over, but it did not avail. New drivers/rollbacks/uninstalls did not help

Could anyone help me out here? I could provide a picture if needed.

Thanks and have a great week!

In a few days I will receive a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon with Win8 installed. And separately I will receive an OEM Win7. Win7 is certainly what I intend to use, and I had originally thought I would wipe out Win8 and install Win7. But now I am wondering if I can somehow preserve Win8 for occasional use. (I would have ordered the machine with Win7 but this is a refurbished machine.)

Is there guidance on this anywhere? Some of the threads I've found seem to be particular to specific manufacturers. And some get into some very low level stuff. I would rather not have to understand UEFI. (I'm sure it would be interesting, I just have other things to do with my time.) And, although I do it sometimes, and will if I have to, I do not like diddling with BIOS settings.

I know that factory installed operating systems generally can't be moved to other machines. And I fear that the factory installed Win8 that I will receive may not even tolerate being installed, e.g., in a smaller partition or under something like VMware (another complication I'd like to avoid).

I'll be looking into VMware because I know it's a very flexible solution. But in this situation I value simplicity over flexibility.

Thanks, Bob

There's a certain program that I use that needs me to run Windows in Test Mode to work correctly (to run unsigned drivers, I think). I know the program is legit because I've used it before and I know it won't harm my PC. But is there any downside to being permanently in Test Mode? Like, problems installng other programs or random system crashing? Or is it ok to just leave Test Mode enabled all the time?

My system:
Lenovo Y560d
Intel Core i7
Windows 7 Home Premium x64

btw, the program is called PPJoy, in case anyone knows it.

The 64bit value of 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF is converted into decimal value of "18446744073709551615" with a call to printf("%llu").
This value given to the windows 7 calculator in programmer mode, is truncated of its last digit. Thus converting it into hexa gives 1999999999999999, which leads poor programmers we are to incromprehension. In earlier versions of the calculator (under XP)
the decimal value was not truncated, and the convertion into hexa ran well.
I guess all this shit has concerns with signed representations of values, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF converted into decimal giving -1 with the Win7 calculator. But I found no options that allow me to express my decimal representations as unsigned one.
Bye fellow coders.

Answer:Win7 calculator side effect of programmer mode

Hi,

It seems that Windows 7 calculator cannot support the unsigned mode, I would report this issue to product team.

Hi Everyone !!

Brief:->

we have developed a portal for the suppliers where in we have confugured the sites to be open in client higer version of IE with the below code.

Web.Config:->

 <customHeaders>
             <add name="X-UA-Compatible" value="IE=Edge"/>
        <add name="X-Frame-Options" value="DENY"/>
      </customHeaders>

ISSUE :

The issue is that when we launch our portal in IE. THE IE turns Enterprise Mode on  by doing so it will try to Emulate IE in version 8 which is not really required as my clients are having latest version of IE , why Enterprise mode on will target to lower
versions ..

Kindly let me know the fix on this , if any questions post it ,let me revert back.

We have an end user who has opened a ticket because of a pop-up dialogue box that has occurred several times on her machine (usually when the machine is idle, she says). The error message reads as follows:

"Main client-side service has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Then it goes through the whole "Please tell Microsoft about this problem" spiel and gives her the option of sending or not sending the error report to Microsoft.

I've checked through her machine's event logs and have found nothing pertaining to this kind of message. I've also done a Microsoft support, Yahoo, and Google search on the error message and have found nothing. The error doesn't specify what application or program the error is in and we're stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this is, or has anyone seen this before?

I have a new pc, with Windows 7, and am going to try without Outlook which i have used for years, and still do at work.

I am trying to figure out the best alternative, that has similar functionality to Outlook, and would suggest a popular client so that support is available.

I was considering Thunderbird, as I have used Firefox for the last few years.

Does it have Calendar and Contacts similar to Outlook?
Can it be synched with Gmail?

What is the best way to get mails from pst on old pc to new client in new pc???

I have seen this:
1. Install Thunderbird on old pc, and transfer data
2. Then copy the entire Thunderbird folder on your old PC from: < path >\Application Data\Thunderbird folder
3. Install Thunderbird on the new PC and elect to NOT migrate any data
4. Create a new Profile, and elect to use "Default User" as the Profile Name
5. Start Thunderbird, but exit when the Mail Wizard comes up
6. Next, with Thunderbird closed: Navigate to the < path >\Application Data\Thunderbird folder Delete the Thunderbird folder
7. Next: Copy the Thunderbird folder from the Old PC to the < path >\Application Data Folder
8. Start Thunderbird, and your Mail and all data will be in place.

Answer:Alt. email client for win7

I don't use Outlook or Thunderbird, but a quick search turned up an Add-On called Lightning which is a calendar for Thunderbird based on the Sunbird calendar. There is also something called GCALdaemon which can sync Google Calendar with Sunbird/Lightning. I haven't researched the Contacts end of this, but a quick Google should reveal all that's needed to know.... I'll do some quick searches for ya and post anything of interest....
:-D I hope this helps!

They key word is "easily". You can export your address book and import into contacts on Windows Live Mail. But not sure about easily. I've done it recently.

It's taken me two days to figure out how to post to a forum that may or may not be the proper place for my question. I apologize for my frustration.

I have what should be a simple problem with all of my installed HP
printers. The envelope feed is on the right side of the tray. That means
that single checks and two checks on a sheet must be fed into the right
side of the tray.

Quicken 2010 and QuickBooks Pro insist that my options for printing an
envelope or single checks or two checks on a sheet are: Left side or
Center feed. Never the right side.

Spoke to HP at length about this problem with my new HP 4500 Officejet
yesterday and they concluded that the problem was Intuit's and not theirs.

I am running a Windows 7 (64) computer and have installed several other Brother and HP Printers in hopes of finding one that will allow feeding of single checks and envelopes from the right side of the tray. If I could find one that works, I can give it the same port as my current HP Officejet 4500. I have done this in the past with success. Unfortunately all the printers I have tried have the same problem with Quicken and Quickbooks. It's almost as if the Intuit driver is stuck and not really being overwritten by new printer drivers. I am way out of my league here and have no other ideas for a cure.

Having just got a Win7 lappie, I'm after an email client that is similar to OE in a couple of respects.

A single click does Receive (and ideally Send) for all my email accounts (that are designated to be included, as per the way OE works).
All emails from all sources are shown in a combined view.

I've not tried Windows Mail yet, but it has been suggested to me that it doesn't do the above (and looking at some screen shots I can see what is being intimated at).
In addition to the above, I'm assuming that support for POP and SMTP is a given.
If Windows Mail does do what I'm asking, then fine. If not what about alternatives (e.g. t-bird, opera)

Answer:Email client for Win7 that is similar to OE

Fairly sure that Windows Live Mail does a single receive. It is what my wife uses having moved from OE on XP to Windows 7. She has more than one email account.
Combined view from all sources is ok but are grouped by email account. It is to the to not from that combines them. Thunderbird is the main alternative. As far as I am aware Opera is not similar.

I am trying to setup a client computer running Win7 to SBS2003. I hve setup the name on the server, I am using a user with admin rights, I have the servers ip as the primary DNS on the router, I have put that IP of the server on the primary DNS on the client computer. I run the connectcomputer and the screen comes up that allows me to put in the name and password and once I hit ok I get an error saying that the list of computers and users cannot be found. I can ping the server, I can map the network drive to it, I can remotely log in to it from the client computer as well. I have unchecked the ipv6 adapter and I have run all these steps with the firewall disabled or enabled. I have tried changing the domain under the computer properties and it asks for the login information and I get an error stating: An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. I have XP clients that I setup already that connected with no problems. Ive tried about every suggestion that has been posted? Does anyone have any other ones? I have also downloaded the hotfix and updated the server.

Thanks,
Zach

Answer:Cannot connect Win7 Client to SBS2003

This requires that you change the lanman server parimeters in order to get Windows 7 working with older servers. Do these adjustments on the Windows 7 machines that need to connect to the server.

I'm not sure if this has to do with your exact problem but these adjustments are usually required to get Windows 7 working with older servers.

Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy

Local Policies - Security Options

Network security: LAN Manager authentication level
Set to Send LM & NTLM responses only

Set the Minimum session security for NTLM SSP
Disable Require 128-bit encryption

The screen shots below should be helpful.

Reboot all machines after making the adjustment.

Hi,

I'm probably just wasting your time but I have to ask.........

Is there any way to change the default email client on Win7 to a web based email client such as Yahoo or my ISP's email client even? I'd prefer Yahoo since that is the one I need to succeed with an experiment I am trying to achieve results from.

I have searched the web over and found replies that range from installing the Yahoo toolbar to installing Yahoo Messenger to many threads that state it is not possible with a web based email.

If I remember correctly, I once achieved this on my Vista. Yahoo actually displayed in the set windows default programs options. Was I imagining that?

I was a big fan and user of Agent by Forte when I had my old WinXP Pro 32bit rig (which is in the big-dump-in-the-sky).

When I installed Agent on my new Win7 Pro 64bit rig and set it as default, sending eMail would NOT work.

Through week of troubleshooting I found out there IS a problem with using MIME under Win7. So I went back and tried to UNCHECK the MIME box in default settings [Control Panel] [Default Programs] but I could NOT.

Tried uninstalling Agent and reinstalling it, but was no help, AND all my original Agent settings came back. So somewhere in Win7 the settings are kept and not cleared when you uninstall Agent.

I would really like to go back to Agent, so can anyone help find out how to clear ALL saved Agent data on Win7 or how to reset default settings.

We (me and a fellow worker) have just started using remote desktop to work. I have been using NetSupport Manager for almost 10 years but just switched to Windows 10 on virtual PC at work and discovered that remote desktop performance with UDP is leaving NetSupport Manager in the dust, performance wise.

I have opened the UDP port for my PC and use in UDP mode since Friday. I just cloned the virtual PC for my fellow worker and adjusted his user. I connect to this PC and UDP is enabled. But he is on Windows 7 x64 and he is not able to obtain the UDP enabled.

Yes, he installed the updates for RDP 8.0 and it shows it.
But UDP is still not working.
I tried to update to RDP 8.1 but it says this:
Any idea ? I suggested to upgrade to Windows 10 but I would rather find a solution for Windows 7 since it is supposed to work.

I have Office 2003 Basic Edition installed on Windows 7 Home Premium. From within Outlook I have set Outlook to be my default email program, yet clicking on any email link through Internet Explorer or any other program brings up Windows Live Mail (which I do not wish to use). From within Word, if I opt to send a document by using 'File-Send To-Mail Recipient', then it does use Outlook (this is the only instance I have discovered of it obeying my command). But if I use 'File-Send To-Mail Recipient (as Attachment)', which I use far more often, then, again, it defaults to Windows Live Mail.

If I access the Default Programs menu in Win7, it does not offer Outlook 2003 as a choice to make my default email program, even though the program is fully installed and is running in all other respects without any glitches.

If, from within Default Programs, I highlight Windows Live Mail and try to 'Choose defaults for this program', it does not allow me to deselect associations for the program, so I cannot deactivate Windows Live Mail either.

Has anyone found a way around this problem, or has Microsoft decided to force its customers into using Windows Live Mail as a default email client, thereby making it impossible to work with another email program that functions with full default email functionality? I have found a few threads about the problem but no answers to date.

Hi ralphmurmegen! Welcome to SevenForums.

Just to double check that you have followed the following procedure:

Click Start.
Type "default programs" in the Start Search box.
Click Default Programs under Programs in the search results.
Now click Set your default programs.
Highlight Microsoft Office Outlook or Microsoft Outlook on the left.
Click Set this program as default.
Click OK.
Are you saying that "Outlook" does not appear under the "Program" list on the left?

HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU
RAM: 6 GB
64-bit Operating System

It started while i was browsing anime viewing websites on Firefox.(Both of which I've used for years.) Also note AVG's Resident Shield was online, and i don't remember going anywhere strange or downloading strange files. I had scanned used malwarebytes anti-malware the day before and found nothing.
Randomly, I received a blue screen stating something like "Client side encryption is not supported by the remote server even though it claims to"

After restarting, my computer failed to start normally.(I think it failed to load the operating system?) It went to some kind of auto repairing thing to fix itself in order to startup properly. But it failed.

Safe mode = same as above

Last Known Good Configuration = same as above

Bootlogging? Debugging? Description was it would mention at which startup file it failed to load. It loaded files from the top of my screen to almost the middle, which is about < 10 things. It failed, and without telling me any new information, did the "same as above".

3 attempts of system restore. One was more than a month ago. It would get to the end and "finish" restoring for a brief moment, then immediately show an error pointing to "...Appdata/Roaming/Firefox/(jumble of letters).profile/session(the rest was cut off, but i thought i could see half an "s") It said it couldn't replace the file?

Its the server that you were on, it did not like the encryption that that server was using.

Hello,

I have a strange problem. I recently had to move my graphics card from one slot to another on my motherboard. When I did so, my desktop appeared to be shifted over to the left and that the left most part of the desktop would not display. I tried to use my TV controls to shift the display horizontally and when I did I encountered two issues- 1) the display would not adjust flush with the right side of the screen (would not reach it leaving a slim black bar) and 2) it looked like someone sliced off the left most part of my desktop (the part missing was a width so that about half the start/ windows button was missing).

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling CCC (latest update/drivers) for my ATI Raedon HD 46xx series card with no luck (Doing a registry sweep between to be thorough). I also have updated everything else windows with no luck.

My desktop is fine @50hz by the way, but 60hz is problematic.

And here is the whammy!

I took a screenshot of my desktop to send to a friend so he could see the left part cut off by a black bar and when I pasted it, the whole screen is there in the pic!!

So I assume this means that windows thinks it is displaying the screen but it is not making it to my TV?

I would have given up on this, however, it was working before so I know that it is possible.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated as I am starting to pull my hair out over here! :-)
Thanks in advance!

Daikon

Answer:Desktop shifted left and cutoff on left side Win7 64bit Raedon HD 46xx

Hum I had a similar thing happen with my monitor I just could not get it to the edges and someone advised me to use the scaling in the CCC and it worked so give it go.

Personally I got so fed up with the ATi stuff and went NVidia best thing I ever did.

Hello:

I have a PC running Win7 Pro that's aproximately 7 months old. Over the weekend, we installed a new router for our home network. All was working fine for a couple of days. Avira Free required updating, and something happened during the update process. The next day when booting up the PC lagged forever and everything ran slow, and Avira wasn't operating properly.

Restored the PC, then finally uninstalled Avira. Ran Malwarebytes AntiMalware and Superantispyware to check for problems, found none. Installed Avast Free in place of Avira for the time being.

The boot up is still very slow, not even close to what it was. I am hoping you can provide some instructions or advice as to what I can further check to ensure it's clean.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Would anyone know how to make this work on Windows 7? Running the Script with admin rights doesn't work at least not in my testing. Start CMD in admin mode and then ran the vbs file from that CMD windows and it returns not admin. I'm half thinking it has something to do with this line ... Code: [Select]Set objComputer = GetObject("WinNT://" & strComputer & "") But I have no idea how to fix it to work with Windows 7. It does work on XP. Code: [Select]On Error Resume Next
strTestUser = "TestUser"
strComputer = "."
Set objComputer = GetObject("WinNT://" & strComputer & "")
'Try to create test account
Set objUser = objComputer.Create("user", strTestUser)
objUser.SetPassword "blahblah"
objUser.SetInfo
'WScript.Echo Err.Number
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
 WScript.Echo "Not an admin"
Else
 WScript.Echo "Is an admin"
 'Cleanup test account
 objComputer.Delete "user", strTestUser
End If

Answer:Check Admin - VBS - Win7

If you are using a 64-bit version of windows you cannot use CreateObject() or GetObject() to create or acquire instances of COM objects.I had a very similar problem. My solution was to use the 32-bit version of wscript or cscript, found in %systemroot%\syswow64\

Hey all,

Yesterday I decided to try windows 7 ultimate x64 (full retail, MD5 F43D22E4FB07BF617D573ACD8785C028), and wipe clean all my harddisks. After a slight problem installing it (apparently win7 cannot install when there is more than 1 harddisk present), I began installing drivers and software. Win7 SP1 has been installed. Before this, I ran vista; vista never crashed like this.

When i was about done, I started copying files from this PC to another (also freshly installed win7) old pc. This was a big copy action (couple of gb), while i was also downloading and playing poker. Then suddenly, a BSOD and a reboot. Hour later: again, i think i was only using firefox at that time, doing nothing fancy. This morning, again BSOD when copying from the same HD to that other PC.

So I ran windbg (tried using the symbols, but that failed), and it reports bugcheck 0x0A, process causing the stop, probably NTOSKRNL.exe. But no further information like a certain driver DLL or something.

I've done a chkdsk on the harddisks, nothing found. Done the win7 memory check at boot time (default settings, 2 passes), nothing found.

So finally here I am, hoping someone here can help me. Attached are the files from the "BSOD Dump & System File Collection app", plus in the same zip, the perfmon report.

So I'm needing to know whether a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with a Core 2 Duo processor is likely to support win7 64 bit or not? From what I've read it sounds like it will..

..but, the laptop currently won't boot (hence the need for a windows reinstall) ? is there any way to tell for sure without booting it up?

Answer:Win7 compatible? can't boot to check..

Check the Dell support website.
If they don't have Windows 7 64-bit drivers for that model, you should not install that OS.

I just checked on your behalf on both the US & UK websites. Dell do not have any Windows 7 drivers for the Inspiron 1525, in fact they don't have any 64-bit drivers at all for that model. They support only 32-bit Windows XP & Windows Vista.

Since Dell laptops require drivers supplied only by Dell, it would be most unwise to install any version of Windows 7 on your laptop. Several components would most likely not work properly if at all.

When I insert a flash drive into one of the dead ports, initially the message pops up indicating that the computer recognizes something has been inserted into the port, but then it immediately disappears and the port is dead. I went to Device Manger-->Portable Devices and tried to fix one of the three dead ports. At some point (after I scanned for hardware changes, I think) it did show the drive letter, but it had a yellow triangular error-message  indicator. I right-clicked and selected Properties, and it said "This device cannot start (code 10)." Then the drive letter disappeared, though it has come back sporadically. I hope this is clear. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks. Jane Doe

G'day everyone - I suspect this issue will be a tough one to get help with!

I've attached a screen-capture of a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 spreadsheet I'm working on at the moment. As you will be able to see on the screen-capture, I've marked the areas of interest and will explain here...

When I enter a name in this column (marked as '1'), I want the spreadsheet to check another column (marked as '2') to see if there is a match. If there is a match, I then want the spreadsheet to check the column marked as '3', and subtract that amount from the column marked as '4'. If there is no match between the column marked as '1' and the column marked as '2', I don't want anything to happen.

I hope that made sense, and if anyone can help me with a solution here, I would greatly appreciate it.

With the introduction of the new and clever 'Snap' functions, two basic functions for organising the desktop seem to have been lost. I and others have tried asking the MS Community, but are struggling to find the vocabulary needed to ask the question, and are getting only non-answers.
So, I will try here..Questions:Noting that these very basic features have been available in all previous versions and editions of MS Windows:
1. How do I now, in W10, get two desktop app windows (DAWs) to share the desktop equally? This used to be achieved by having two DAWs active, and then selecting 'Show windows side by side'. Now, in W10, selecting 'side by side' results only in a cramped tiling of active windows.
2. How do I now, in W10, get DAWs to 'remember' their last setting of size and position, such that re-opened DAWs will open with the same size and position that they had when last closed?
3. Could someone give a direct answer to these two questions, providing the solutions as steps to be taken in W10 - or, will someone confirm that these features are no longer available, in W10?

Answer:Updated: W10 App Windows: 'Side by Side', & Setting Default Size/Position..

If you drag App1's title bar all the way to the left side of the screen, it'll "snap" to the left. The same for App2; drag the title bar all the way to the right side of the screen for it to "snap" to the right. (This can also be done using the keyboard short cut "Win + left/right arrow")
The old function for right clicking on the task bar and selecting "cascade windows, show side by side, etc" is still there, but now it allows for more open windows, and depends on your screen size.
As far as I can tell, open windows do remember their last position.

Hi,
I recently bought my Dell XPS 9560. My dell xps screen appears cooler on the left side and slightly warmer on the right side. It is not noticeable in any color but when I visit websites with a white background like google, I can notice that the right side is slightly warmer (yellowish) which is distracting. Any idea on how should I proceed with the issue?
Thanks

Answer:Dell XPS 9560 Screen - left side cooler and right side warmer

If "recently" is less than 21 days from shipment and from Dell directly, the best option is to contact customer support and have the system replaced.
If it's more than 21 days from shipment, the warranty will cover the display replacement, which is the only solution -- though if the system is new enough, you're better off having it replaced than repaired.

I have a spreadsheet that has nine columns. Once of these columns (the fourth column) is used for a single character as a method of immediately letting the user know that the row in particular is different to the others. So, there's nothing different about that at all.

What I'd like to be able to do, though, is to have the other eight columns (the three columns before the column mentioned above and the five after) all change their background colour when the single character is entered in the fourth column.

So, if the user inputs data in a new row and leaves the fourth column cell blank, nothing happens. If the user enters the symbol (let's say it's a "#"), then the nine columns will all change their background colour to red.

If anyone can help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am trying to fix my friends computer which is having several weird issues. When you login everything appears to be normal but Windows loads to a black screen with a cursor. Ctrl + Alt + Del to task manager and I can run explorer.exe to restore the desktop. However the problem now is once your at the desktop all programs when you try to run them pop up with an application failed to run side-by-side configuration is incorrect. these problems are not apparent when the computer is ran in safe mode, but I can not figure out what to do. I checked the registry HKLM software windows nt logon and explorer.exe is the value.
Malwarebytes when ran in safe mode does not detect anything either.

Answer:windows logs in to a black screen, programs have side by side config

Some possibilities: this application failed to start because side-by-side-configuration is incorrect

Was this computer upgraded from Vista to Windows 7? If so that may be the cause. You can try doing a Repair Install of Windows 7 to see if that corrects the problem.

This morning I came into my office to find my pc (p4, win7) apparently in a loop. the cpu usage was very high on all four processors, and the disk usage was high as well. I tried restarting the computer but there was so much cpu usage that I couldn't even type. So after 10 minutes or so, I just pulled the plug.

The first problem was that Norton Internet Security stopped working. After an hour on 'chat' with Symantec, they reloaded the software for me and now NIS is working properly. But I still have (at least) two probems. (1) My RIMDeviceManager fails with an 0xC015002 error, and all my MSOffice 2007 programs fail with "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

I unstalled all the Microsoft C++ programs and then did an MSOffice "repair" and it looks like C++ Redistributable (32 and 64-bit) were re-installed, but Outlook, Excel, etc, still get the same error. Everything I've read about fixing the problem is way over my head (and I'm fairly technical). Does anyone have a clue what I should be tracking down?

Answer:Office 2007: The application has failed to start because the side-by-side config...

Re: Office 2007: The application has failed to start because the side-by-side config.

I've done some more checking and find that quite a few programs are failing to initialize because of this side-by-side thing: Adobe Premiere Elements and Adobe Photoshop Elements, Cyberlink Power Director 8, Microsoft LifeCam (no error, it just doesn't do anything), FormatFactory - there may be more, I haven't checked them all. Each program fails to initialize with the 'side-by-side configuration' error message. Please help!!

How do I tackle this please!

Answer:Error message: "application cannot be opened as side by side configuration is incorrect"

Hi

To be honest I never meet such problem with the operating system but firstly I would recommend trying to repair the OS.

Boot up the notebook and press F8. Then choose option called Repair the Computer.
Now you will see a some options. Here I would recommend choosing the first option called: Startup Repair.
This option automatically fixes problems that are preventing Windows from starting.
But I?m not quite sure if this is good enough to fix your issue with the system.

If this does not help I would recommend reinstalling this Microsoft Works package.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 5545. From the first day I lifted the screen of the laptop, there was a click from the right side where the hinge of the screen meets the base of the laptop. I just assumed this was something internally that kept the screen in the open position because there are so many other items click when you open them. However, over the past few weeks a gap started to appear that has become increasingly larger between what appears to be the bottom of the case and the top in that same place where the right hinge is.
C'mon Dell.  It is a design flaw and should be fixed as such.
