Preferred Solution: use speaker instead of earpiece

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: use speaker instead of earpiece

RIght click to speaker icon on task bar, Choose playback devices. Sound properties open up. You will see speakers and headphone icons. Right click at speaker icon and click set as default comunication device.

Anyone else have the problem with their L925? If so is there an easy fix? Can I replace the part myself? I heard somewhere that replacing the Audio flex cable/headphone jack/usb port does the trick? Is this true? Or do I need to replace the earpiece speaker as well?

So it's a long story filled with terrible verizon service as always, multiple warranty claims and even breaking into my phone. The issue's are these 1) the huge speaker on the back only works when receiving a text or a call, other than that playing music, watching videos etc, no static, completely mute. 2) When i receive a call, I am unable to hear a peep from the earpiece, the only way I can hear someone is hooking up a pair of headphones or putting it on speaking which is annoying beyond belief 3) Bluetooth doesn't work with ANY device, but there is static and it does connect. The only thing i think could of happened is that it detects headphones in ALL the time which i heard is a common problem, some easy fixes are plug/unplug headphones which didn't work, soft reset and putting graphite in the heaphone jack didn't work, I even opened up my phone (which holy crap, is an hour project all in itself) everything seemed to be fine nothing was loose but i'm pretty sure i voided the warranty. Thing is all these problems came about within 24 hours of me getting my on warranty phone which had the same issues, as did the 1 before that. It's not the ened of the world but i've been dealing with this after the 30 day return period so i've basically been stuck in this ****ty circle for over a year, does anyone have any advice for me or would anyone like to take the rest of my two year contract haha.

Answer:Lumia 928 BT, call earpiece and speaker issues

Forget VZW and go directly to Nokia. Here is a link:Nokia Lumia 928 - Support, Updates, Downloads and User Guides, Troubleshooting - Nokia - USA
You should be able to check warranty status and then send in your phone for repair.

I recently discovered that if I plug in my earpiece to the audio jack on my laptop, my movie will stop and if I press play again, the sound will come out from my speakers anyway and there is nothing on my earpiece.

HOWEVER, if I only plug in my earpiece halfway, then both the speakers and earpiece will have sound.

Can anyone help?

Note: The earpiece works fine on my phone

Answer:Earpiece not working?

Is your earpiece a typical pair of stereo headphones or some type of microphone-earphone combination made to plug into your cell phone? Laptop audio output jacks are usually designed to work with typical stereo headphones using a standard 3 circuit mini-plug wiring configuration. Putting in a plug with different wiring may confuse the laptop's audio switching hardware.

Answer:Can't use bluetooth headphone with earpiece!!

I don't think there is because usually when you plug in a headset or turn on a bluetooth headset it disables the speakers, so I suspect that bluetooth essentially does the same to your wired headset - probably nothing that can be done about it unless you happen to find a setting in the realtek control panel that disables the 'feature'."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." In most cases (all I've seen) you can only have one default playback device, e.g. PC speaker (and wired headphones) or another device such as your bluetooth or HDMI audio.

my laptop ink poured on one part of the screen Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Answer:my laptop screen got cracked by my earpiece and the ink pour...

A laptop screen can be replaced but it will not be covered by the Standard Repair Warranty since it's an accidental damage. Moreover if the computer is quite old more than 4-5 years then i guess even HP will not be able to repair it even if you pay for it, since it will be considered an obsolete system. Then the only option would be to get it fixed at a local computer store. LCD screens can be ordered online from 3rd party websites.

So I was listening to music today and suddenly I could hear only with one ear.

Weird thing is that no matter what I did, I still couldn't fix it. Tried with another headphones pair, nothing.

I used my "broken" pair on my Xperia Z3 Compact phone and everything works fine.

I'm on the Insider Preview Build 6281 (fast ring). I'm using a Lenovo Laptop Z50-70 and I'm assuming I'm using the latest Conexant HD drivers are they get updated on every insider preview build.

Has anyone had similar issues?

When I'm using just the speakers they work in stereo.

EDIT: Apparently the issue persists when booting Ubuntu as well so it's hardware related.

Hello everyone, I just bought a Lenovo ideadpad Y410p yesterday and everything was going well, all except for one thing. I could not plug in any earpiece(I tried various models) or the headphone that came along as a free gift into my earpiece/headphone jack fully... they would always get stuck midway even when I tried using a little more force or using the connectors that were provided.. Even though they were stuck midway in, the computer still registered the plugging in of an audio device but I could only hear the sounds from a side occasionally or none at all. They all fit into my mic jack though but the sounds all came from the speakers. I am no tech expert so does anyone know how to help me solve this problem? Is it a defect?

I recently discovered a difference in the volume; the left speaker of the laptop has been functioning normally while there seems to be very low to no sound coming from the right speaker.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Audio - Right Speaker has low volume while the left speaker functions normally

Hello. You didn't mention the headphone jack, so if you have not yet done so, plug in headphones and see if the balance is okay in them. If the headphones check out okay, then most probably it's a problem related to the speakers.
The test for speakers is the ePSA audio test. It is a hardware test, which means that if the test  tones are very low in the right speaker, but normal in the left speaker, then there is hardware failure somewhere, related to the right speaker.
If both speakers sound normal during the test, then the problem is in the software. Do the usual things like re-install the audio driver, check the balance levels in the Sound properties, try different audio sources, etc.
Re-installing the audio driver resets the settings to their default configurations, so if you do it then you don't have to bother with things like volumes and balance settings, because they will be okay.(Also if the balance is okay through headphones, then it should be okay through the speakers too.)
Here is how to do a simple driver re-install:
1.    Open the Device Manager.2.    Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" category.3.    Right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".4.    Click "uninstall".5.    Do not check the box to “delete the driver software for this device”. 6.    Restart the computer. Windows will detect your device a... Read more

How can I setup the speaker to mute, while can external speaker keep not mute?

Answer:Satellite A350 -How to mute internal speaker while plug in external speaker

> Any one know how I can mute the internal speaker while plug in the external speaker?

I assume you have an Realtek sound card and the Realtek HD audio manager should appear in the control panel.

Please check this Realtek HD audio manager.
In Speakers tab on the right you will see the options ?Analog? & ?Digital?.
Click right on one of the option and check if you could see some options which provide a setting in order to mute the speakers.

You will see also option called: Device Advantage settings.
Check this too.

PS; my notebook switches the internal speakers automatically if the headphones have been plugged in.
I read in other threads that sound driver update might help too but firstly test the settings like mentioned above.

I have had a 5.1 speaker arrangement on my Vista x64 PC for some time. Today, the front left speaker decided to stop working correctly. When trying to plug my headphones in to a rear jack on my motherboard (onboard sound), I noticed that sound was only coming through the right earphone. I decided to give up with trying to listen through my headphones for the time being and plugged my speakers back in, only to find that now my front left speaker wasn't working correctly. I tried to adjust the balance on my speakers, as I thought I could hear a whisper of a sound through the front left.
The front left speaker is producing sound, but at a greatly reduced volume to the rest of the speakers, I have to set the balance to the following to make FL and FR speakers 'the same' volume (by ear).
FL volume: 100
FR volume: 0
I have my speakers plugged in to 3 jacks on my motherboard (out of 6).
The green jack for FL and FR.The black jack for RL and RR.The orange jack for C and SubW.I have been unsucessful installing Realtek (which is a shame, because on my last motherboard I was able to solve the problem with that somehow, but I can't remember how) as it states the drivers are not supported. Which I'm assuming means my motherboard doesn't support it.
My motherboard is an MSI Intel p35 Neo.
I have had this setup working fine for around a month. My speakers are labtec (but I don't see how that would matter).I am currently using the normal drivers that come with Vista.Any ideas?

Hi Everybody!

All of a sudden my speaker icon is missing from taskbar & sound is only coming through the LEFT speaker. The RIGHT speaker is still working but you can only hear SOME sound and it's very low, all the rest of the sound is going to the LEFT speaker now and the volume icon on the taskbar is gone now so I can't even check the settings there. This all happened out of nowhere! Everything had been working fine for a long time before this happened. I don't understand.

Is this some kind of malware problem rewriting the codes or something? I saw this could be the problem on previous posts. I am NOT knowledgeable with computers but I learn fast if you can walk me through the steps.

I have windows 7 professional on a 32 bit system.

The option "Show or hide volume (speaker) icon on the taskbar" in the Control Panel is grayed out and I cannot change the setting on it.

I've been looking thru past threads and I'm still not finding a solution that works for me.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated!!

Thanks so much!!!

I hope I've chosen the correct category for this issue. I have a Dell Inspiron 660S desktop computer currently running Windows 7. I need to be able to move around my home from room to room with a single speaker (not a pair of speakers) that provides good volume to overcome other machine noises (not extremely loud noises, but not a quiet environment either). I have tried blue-tooth (two different doggles) and several blue-tooth remote speakers (single-speaker) but the volume is not good and the reception is generally bad. The distance is not more than 20 feet or so but it is through walls (and sometimes up one flight of stairs) and my blue-tooth reception has been sporadic at best. (I haven't tried any speaker "sets" because I often move from room to room and multiple speakers are too cumbersome.)

I gave up on blue-tooth and decided to try a wired USB-powered speaker. I bought a 25 foot USB extension cord and two different USB-powered speakers which worked fine as far as the reception went (of course) but the volume was insufficient on both. I verified that the volume was up 100% on computer as well as on the speakers themselves.

I have small BOSE computer speakers (positioned at left and right sides of monitor) connected to my desktop computer for normal computer activity like movies and playing music and they sound great and I never have to turn the volume up more than about half way. I would like to be able to accomplish the same with a portable remo... Read more

My two month old 925 on 8.1 (I got 8.1 about a month ago) creates no sound through the earpiece during calls but speakerphone and headphones work fine. It started a week ago during a call where the person's voice slowly faded out in the earpiece, but putting it on speakerphone let me hear them. First I assumed it was Tmobile's almost nonexistent indoors reception, but this happened outside too. This happened again in a later call, and now I never get any sound from the earpiece. The phone has never been dropped or anything. It doesn't appear to be stuck in headphone mode, but I tried those fixes anyway and there's nothing stuck in the jack. A soft reset did nothing as well.
A possibly related issue is that, since updating to 8.1, sometimes my phone randomly says I have no SIM card so I have to restart it.
Can I return this device if I have to even if it's on 8.1? Would that void the warranty?
Thanks

Answer:Lumia 925 earpiece not working but speakerphone working during calls

First, yes, your warranty should cover you. http://forums.windowscentral.com/win...et-bottom.html
Second, before you think about taking the phone in for replacement, you should perform a factory reset to be sure that it isn't a software problem. Go to settings | about | reset my phone | yes | yes. Make sure you back up pictures and any other data you need to keep that isn't already synced before you do so.
Odds are that this is a hardware problem, so the reset won't make a difference, but a reset is one of the steps they should make you do before replacing anyway, so you can save yourself some time on the phone by doing it ahead of time.

Answer:External Speaker Fails to Mute Internal Speaker

What audio codec does your laptop use?

It will be listed in device manager. The VEN DEV combo will be enough information.

You'll find it in the device properties details tab, specifically, the "Hardware IDs" section.

It will resemble this:

Code:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0288&SUBSYS_10EC0191&REV_1000

Usually the audio codec chip itself will detect an external speaker is plugged in. Have you checked your audio device's configuration software? It should have a shortcut in the classic control panel.

About 4 days ago, when I started playing music over the speakers I noticed that the right speaker was wayy quieter than the left one. The one on the left sounds like it should at a medium level of volume. I've already tried directing all sound through one over the other and the diffference is significant. I've also tried playing music that is mono such that the same level of audio is expected through both speakers. I can't determine whats wrong and this is so upsetting only having had this laptop for about 2 months or so. Could you help me out?

Answer:Lenovo y510p right speaker much quieter than left speaker

hi pmadhikar,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you consider doing the following:
1. Uninstall the Realtek Audio Driver (reboot if necessary) and let Windows use a generic sound driver and observe
2. Use an earphones to see if the volume on the left / right speakers are balanced.

If the volume is balanced using an earphones without adjusting the sound levels under Sound Properties then it's likely that the right speaker is showing signs of imminent failure. In this case, I recommend you report your findings by contacting lenovo as you may need to get this replaced.

Hi, Some things to check for? You will first want to ensure that this ?echo? effect is not being caused by a third party application. The easiest method would be to test the default Windows sounds, then try configuring the speakers, and if the issue persist to try Safe Mode - to eliminate third party software or services as the cause. Use the default Windows Sounds 1.     Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.2.     In the Sound window click on the Sounds (tab).3.     You will see a box with a list of items one being Asterisk.4.     Click on Asterisk, or any item in that box, and then click Test.5.     You should hear audio coming from your system.6.     If the clip was not long enough select another item, and then click Test.7.     Determine whether or not the distorted audio is present. Configure the speakers 1.     Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.2.     In the Sound window right-click your Speakers and select Configure Speakers.3.     Follow the on-screen setup, and Test the available configurations.4.     Indentify whether or not one configuration appears to have less of an ?echo? than others.5.     If the ... Howdy All!

This is he mans first battle on this forum, so play nice!

I'm looking to wire a speaker and mic into a landline telephone (PSTN - Uniden FP1200).
It has a speaker phone chip - ie not just a straight up pstn phone - so in theory: I should be able to open it up and wire an extension speaker, and extension mic into it - without feedback issues - that I understand a normal, non-speaker phone would have (correct me if wrong!).

I want to have a greater distance from me to the speaker - as i speak all day on the speaker phone - and it is cooking my face.

So, I want to wire in a speaker and push it back a couple of feet.

I also want to wire in a microphone with a desktop stand so I can be closer to the mic - and hopefully reduce the "i'm calling from a spaceship toilet" vibe
A couple of questions:
1.feasible y/n?
2.can i use a usb speaker and mic (given that the speaker phone is a plug in electrical type with lcd screen etc - ie it's not just using the low voltage telephone charge to power the speaker?
3.do i need to use a non-usb mic and speaker?
4.am i up in the night (ie barking up the wrong tree, have a couple of kangaroos loose in the top paddock, a few sandwiches short of a picknic, a few sips short of a can of coke...)

Uniden FP1200 Manual

Open to suggestions, other ideas, prescription medication suggestion - whatever!! Let's ROLL!!

Answer:Speaker problem - No sound in one desktop speaker

When you borrowed your friends speakers, was it the same speaker, left or right, that didn't work?  If so, it must be a bad jack on your computer.  Plugs and jacks work on simple physical contact with a spring like action and sometimes they get warped.Sometimes you can push the contacts back into the right position, and sometimes you can't.  Open up your case, power off of course, plug in your speakers, and see if you can see where the plug and the jack are missing contact (not always possible).

Hi,

I remember deleting something named "Realtek HD blah blah" from the below screen.

http://www.sevenforums.com/attachmen...1&d=1341120073

From then my normal speaker (audio jack) at the back doesn't work. But my USB speaker works.

I tried to reinstall the audio driver from my motherboard CD and nothing happens.

Please help. This is very annoying.

Answer:Analog Speaker not detected. USB speaker works

If you deleted RealTek, that is a PC sound (Integrated on the motherboard) and most likely why your speakers are not working. You must have a PC sound device, other than a USB connected device, for the speakers to work.

First step is to reinstall the RealTek drivers. Its best to get the driver either from your PC vendor or Motherboard vendor, as applicable and install that as the first step. Then make sure your "speakers" (sound card) is set as the default playback device in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound panel.

Today suddenly the right speaker became louder than the left speaker( I think before the two speakers had the same volume level).
Then the right speaker just stopped working and if I test it, the left plays the sound.

The left speaker sound is deep.

What can I do?

Answer:Re: Qosmio F50-10G - right speaker louder than the left speaker

Hi

Sound more like a hardware (speaker) issue as an software (sound driver) issue.
So in my opinion only the ASP in your country could be helpful.

I think the faulty speaker must be replaced?

Hi,Right click speaker icon in taskbar, select Sound, go to Playback tab, highlight Speakers, Properties, click balance and check whether right speaker level zero as in my snip, then increase it to match the left speaker. Answer:Speaker problem - No sound from one desktop speaker

It very much sounds like a defective female jack receptacle on the "speaker/lineout" output. I assume that your results from the headset status was done from the headset/microphone jack as opposed to the "speaker" jack? If these are powered speakers you can try them in the headset output and at least determine if both speakers work. Alternatively you can also test your speakers on another computer to eliminate the possibility of a defective speaker.I don't know if your audio software provides for a left/right speaker mute if so you might check to ensure whichever side is not producing audio is NOT muted. I again assume this is a recent occurrence to something that had previously worked properly? Have you recently changed anything associated with the sound? Is your sound on-board or a standalone card?truenorth

If the volume is low everything works fine, but once you turn it up using the volume button, the left speaker stops working. This only happens when I use the button, and not when I adjust the system sound.

I tested it with the audio configuration, and I can hear what's supposed to be the left speaker sound coming from the right speaker. Once again this is only if the volume button is turned up high enough, and it works just fine otherwise.

Another strange thing is that everything not only works right when the volume is low enough, but also when it's high enough. So the problem is not that the left speaker can't handle that much sound or something. It's only in the middle where this problem occurs. Does anyone have an idea what's going on?

Answer:Right speaker thinks he's a left speaker

Hi welcome to the forum.

Have you tried the speakers on another system or another set of speakers on yours. Try reinstalling the driver.

I'm not sure if it's a problem with my drivers or if my speakers are just broken. They were just kinda cheap ones I picked up at best buy, here's the model:

Insignia?„? - Powered Computer Speakers with Subwoofer (3-Piece) - Black/Silver/Gray - NS-PSD5321 | Insignia

Theyre unique because there's a central "pod" (you see in the picture) that plugs into the audio jack on my PC (it's also the power/volume control). I can plug headphones into that hub to switch the sound to headphones. From a the hub, a cord goes to the subwoofer. The Left and Right speakers connect into a single jack in the subwoofer.

My computer is acting like both my Left and Right speakers are JUST the right speaker. When I turn down the Right sound balance, both speakers get quieter. When I turn up the Left balance, the Subwoofer gets louder.

However, the sound balance when I use HEADPHONES is still just fine. It uses my left and right "speakers" correctly.

Are the speakers just broken? Or is it possible that my driver is confusing the speakers somehow? I googled and couldn't find anyone else with this issue.

How can i make it so connecting them to my pc will be recognized as 5.1....

You need to get more rca to mini adaptors/spitter's and use the other ports. Did you install the realtek drivers from the mobo cd? Their program will tell you where to hook it up. and then click on detect.

Ok I recently got a brand new set of Logitech Z-5500 speakers.

I set it all up correctly, connections are good and secure etc.

When I ran the logitech sound test (a button on included remote)... I get sound out of all the speakers + sub.

When I set my sound preferences via Win7, my Left front speaker now doesn't emit any sound. I swapped speakers etc and tried again and still whatever speaker is set to the Left Front position does not make any sound.

Now... when I play videos/movies via VLC, I lose sound out of everything EXCEPT the Right front speaker.

but then I tried playing SC2 and after setting my audio to 5.1, I get sound out of all speakers from EXCEPT my Left Front again

My drivers are up to date etc....

I don't know what to do. Treat me like a noob cause I am =P

Hi,
The system was custom assembled in a local factory ... Asus M4A785M with on board A/V hosting a XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5. O/S is Windows 7 Home 64 bit.

Since day 1 there has been an occasional electrical popping sound emitted from the left desktop speaker when opening a new window or application. I initially didn't pay this much mind because I'd seen it suggested in another forum that this popping sound was a supposedly harmless bi-product of the 64 bit OS.
Well..... three weeks and two frazzled speakers later, the not so innocuous 'pop' now has my full attention.

Tonight I discovered that their are two sets of audio drivers installed (on-board and ATI Catalyst) and suspect that a software conflict is the source of my troubles. The catch is I don't really want to sacrifice any more speakers through trial and error and could sure use some sage advice if anyone would be so kind.

Thanks

Answer:Pop goes the speaker

then..I would probably start by uninstalling the ATI driver and using the onboard sound. That may be your problem right there.

of course make sure you have a copy of the driver incase thats not the problem...

I recently switched from a 2 speaker system to Altech Lansing Multimedia Computer Speaker Systems Powered Subwoofer Mod # CN 03W978-47772-2AC-17WQ. Question: speaker hum

I have two samson resolve 50a speakers that *hums* when connected directly to the back of my presario computer (through a 1/8 inch to two rca chord). However, when I connect them directly into my ipod or mixing board they don't hum and they sound great. Meanwhile, if I listen to headphones through the out jack of my computer I don't hear a hum.

How can I connect these great speaker to my computer?

Answer:speaker hum

The "hum" indicates a poor earth connection on the sheild of the cable, or an "earth loop" where the ground of the computer is not the same as the ground of the speaker amplifier supply.

Most likely its a connection issue somewhere.

Hello, Pls guyz, i have an HP pavilion dv6, and my speaker doesnt work.Sometimes it twiches on,like when you click a button or open a folder it sounds and stops, or when you start an application, it works but immediately you close the application it goes off again. But now it doesnt even work at all. Plz if there is anything you can help me with, I will most appreciate it.

Answer:Speaker comes on and off

Well, just from what I see I can give you the following suggestions:

It could be a loose/defective wire.

You may have to reinstall the sound drivers. From what you are saying about the apps, this is the most likely solution.

If you are using a sound card, it could be either the sound card failing, or you may have to re-seat it to insure it's connecting properly.

Hope this helps some in narrowing it down.

Question: 350 mW speaker

will changing the volume of a speaker change the mW output ?

if a description of a speaker reads 350 mW, does that mean that the speaker outputs a maximum of 350 mW and would have an output of say 200 mW at a lower volume ?

thanks very much,

larry

Answer:350 mW speaker

larry,

Yes, if you put 200 mW into a 350 mW speaker it will play at a lower volume. The 350 mW (milliwatt or 1/1000th of a watt) is the rating of the speaker. Kinda like when you buy home or auto speakers rated for 100 Watts or 200 Watts or whatever.

Is this fabric problem or not, that speaker is not working, then you press the cover near speaker and it works, and sometimes again doesn't work? Give the phone to service or no? Anybody else with similar problem?

Answer:How can I fix my speaker?

It sounds like the speaker is loose. Knowing the exact problem would be difficult without taking it to a service outlet.
If the phone is still under warranty, take advantage of it as soon as possible. Definitely a problem with the hardware from the sound of it.

I have a built in mic on my laptop and have windows 7 home premium. I want to use my speaker output (basically any sound coming from my speakers) as input through my mic.

For example, say I was playing a music file on my desktop, and I was talking to someone through my mic it would appear as if the song was me talking.

Hopefully I explained it properly but basically I want whatever sound that comes out of my speaker to be input from my mic.

Answer:Using my mic as a speaker

What you are looking for is called a Virtual Loopback Cable, if you do a search on Google for Virtual Audio Cables you should be able to find it and buy it for I think around $10.00usd via PayPal. The software can be a little confusing.

Basically what is happening is the VAC (Virtual Audio Cable) will take any outgoing sound that is being played on it and turn it into a Virtual Microphone. So when you play music on the VAC it can also be used as a Microphone.

Question: Speaker

For the past days I had a speaker on top of my dell Inspiron 530 desktop. This morning when I went for the speaker it fell off, as soon as it fell off, my computer screen turned different colors like when a tv doesn't have signal. So I turned it off and it turned on properly and after 5-10min my screen did the same. I've tried it for several times and I get the same result. Help me please!

Answer:Speaker

Did the speaker hit the display monitor when it fell?

Have you double checked the connection between the display monitor and the computer?

What is the brand and model number of the display monitor?

Can you please better describe "screen turned different colors like when a tv doesn't have signal"?

Question: Speaker Help

This isn't so much a support query, just a query really. I was wondering what would be the best 2.1 speaker to buy. Searching online I have gotten over a dozen different opinions on as many brands and models.

I owned the JBL creature speakers, and they were decent but nothing to take home about. I am looking to spend a bit more (maybe upto about $150). The thing is I really have no idea what speakers are good on the market right now. Personally I want something simple that is reasonably loud. However, the quality of the sound is far more important to me than the "loudness", even the bass isn't that important.

These speakers will mainly be used for gaming on my laptop, and for listening to mp3, CDs and DVD movies.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Speaker Help

HI I bought a set of Klpsch promedia 2.1 THX speakers and I just love them. I paid around 200 Canadian for them but they would be cheaper than that if you live in the USA I am sure. They are LOUD if you want them to be without any disortion that I can hear. I can't turn them up above about 3 in my apartment or I blast out my neighbours but I did when I first got them just to see how loud they would go .. BOOOOOOOM ! ! ! ! darn near deafened me.

Question: Speaker V/A

I have an eMachine which has been moved around quite bit so the AC adapter for the SP-30A speakers may have been mixed up. The one that is left over is a 5.0 V, 2.0 A unit, but the plug does not seem to fit in the power jack on the speaker. I have other AC adapters but am reluctant to try them because I don't know what the voltage should be. Any suggestions?

Answer:Speaker V/A

See if you can read the output voltage rating the is printed on the Speaker AC adapters. If they match and the plug fits, you may be able to use the second adapter. This type of external speakers are inexpensive and you can easily replace the sound system if you have to

Question: Speaker help

Hi. My computer is unable to detect my speakers as long as I can remember.
(An emachine t5026)

I didn't even use it until i upgraded it to xp pro so I'm curious if that is the problem. I can use a usb headset and get sound fine but it would be great to be able to use my speakers once in a while too. I'm not really all that good with computers but i'm hoping theres some sort of solution other than buying a new soundcard :-P Thanks in advance.

Answer:Speaker help

Hi - welcome to TSF

Have you checked out Sounds and Audio Devices in the windows control panel?

Make sure the mute boxes are not checked and under Advanced see if all the volumes are turned up ... on the Hardware tab you will be able to confirm that the drivers are installed and working.

Do you have a sound chip on your motherboard and a soundcard in a PCI slot?

If so, maybe the onboard sound needs disabling.

Let us know how it goes.

Question: 5.1 speaker help

I was wondering is there any way of having 5.1 speakers on my laptop seeing as the only output for sound is a headphone socket. Thanks in advance

Answer:5.1 speaker help

Think you'll have to get a PC card if you have a pc card slot. This would upgrade your sound card and then you should have 5.1 support. This one has 7.1 support click here if you don't have a PC card slot you should be able to get a USB offering.

Hello. I would really appreciate it anyone could help with a problem I have with my speaker set-up.
I used to have my speakers configured with left and right speakers and a sub-woofer (5.1 surround sound). A few days ago I had to factory reset my PC due to an unrelated problem. After resetting my PC, the only speaker configuration now available is "stereo" which does not support the sub-woofer. It's as if my PC only recognises the left and right speakers and not the sub-woofer.
If anyone can help me with this I would REALLY appreciate it, I've been looking for solutions for hours and nothing has worked so far. It's driving me crazy.
Thank you.

Answer:Help with speaker set-up please

It sounds like, in resetting your PC, you may have 'lost' the drivers for your sound, so all you have is Windows default sound drivers. If you can find out what motherboard you have - I'm assuming you have onboard sound - you may be able to locate the drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's web site.

I have a Medion surround sound set up, after all the speakers are connected to the sub-woofer I am left with 3, 3.5mm jack plugs, they call them cinch plugs, coloured green, black, light orange. Can anyone tell me were they connect to on the tower. My system supports 5.1 set up, however the manual supplied with the speakers is vague and the instructions that came with the computer, a Time XP3000 are just as vague.

Answer:5.1 speaker set up help

Have you looked at the back of the tower? If indeed your system has a 5.1 sound card then there should be sockets with the corresponding colours to which you plug into. If not then you need a new soundcard

Question: Y40-70 speaker

I recently just received my new Lenovo Y40-70 laptop and it was working fine until yesterday night. I opened up my laptop and heard a clicking/popping sound in the right speaker and it does not stop unless I lift the machine on the right side. I tried to insert headphones to see if it was indeed the speaker and it still continued to emit the clicking sound. I have tried disabling the audio driver and that seems to make it go away but as soon I enable it, it comes back Any solutions?

Answer:Y40-70 speaker

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

I would suggest that you do a clean install of the audio driver.  Uninstall it, reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy of the driver.  The links below are for the available audio drivers for your model.

If that doesn't resolve the problem then I would recommend that you contact Lenovo Support for additional warranty service as your problem maybe a hardware issue.  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist_alt1

Question: PC speaker

Every time I write a program that uses the ASCII code 7 (bel) instead of hearing a bell on my computer, I instead hear a fairly pathetic little pop.

I know my PC speaker works, because I wrote something in QBasic that uses the PLAY command, and it works beautifully. Why isn't ASCII 7 working?

I have an HP laptop, and for some reason the right speaker wont work so the volume is real low. I have went to the control Panel and tried everything I could to make it work. I did a test on the left and it works fine, and then when I test the right there nothing. Could you help, do you have any advise for me. Thank you for your timeBrandi

Answer:How do i fix my speaker

in your sound settings, check the balance settings, this setting will increase the volume on one speaker and reduce it on another. If the levels are equal ie there is no bias to one side then I would suggest it could be a hardware issue. This will require the replacement of the internal speaker.

Answer:speaker

Are you sure that you have a sound card that can be removed? Some computers have the sound integrated into the motherboard.
