I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

Twice a day someone or something is using my email account (I use Live Mail 2011 to access my Hotmail account) to send emails to everyone in my contacts list. Up until recently these emails had a blank subject line and in the body of the email had only a link (different each time) leading to various sites (most of which were dead/invalid). As of yesterday, however, people are telling me that I've been emailing them regular looking emails inviting them to join me in some social networking site, or health club site, or genealogy site etc. My main Internet Security Software is McAfee (it came preloaded with the computer) and Spybot Search and Destroy. Since those programs didn't detect anything I also downloaded and installed MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, SpywareBlaster, Lavasoft Ad-Aware (which I recently uninstalled because of compatibility issues), and HijackThis. Some of these programs found several occurrences of malware, but the problem persists nonetheless.

I followed all the instructions on the tutorial here, but gmer is crashing my computer. The first time I ran it it scanned for about 5 minutes before the screen turned blue and gave me a long message I didn't have time to copy down except for this : "A Problem has been detected and Windows had to shut down to prevent loss of data." Under that it said : "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT"

I restarted the computer and tried gmer again, only this time the computer crashed before I eve started the sca... Read more

Instead of deleting it while open, close it first and right-click on it to delete it from the list.

if you CLOSE your account it stays dormant for 270 days!!!! and you can log back in at anytime during then

my email has been used to spam twice, so ive created a new one, I want to delete the old one but it seems to be impossible to do, some people say just dont sign in for 30 days and accounts deleted, I dont believe that is the case anymore with WLM as they would not keep it dormant for 270 days if you actually wanted to close an account...seems to be wrong to me.

does anyone know if this is possible?

thanks

What do you mean by blocked? Was the account used for spam? Can you login? Just abandon the account. Open a new account from another machine, if there is no other way.How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

when I added a NOOK to my laptop and smartphone, my carrier (Charter) instructed me to change the server from POP to IMAP so I could get the same emails on all three devices. We could not change the account so added a new account as IMAP, same email address as the other. But the old account with the email address remains in the column on the left of the page, and when it sends/receives I get a warning box that the POP account could not be accessed. Of course not, it has been changed! But when I go to remove the account it says it will delete the email account which is the same name as the new one. I am afraid I will lose the new account and all the archived emails I moved to it. Suggestions?

I've had a problem ever since Windows Live Mail was upgraded to the 2011 version.

I've been able to receive e-mail regularly and send some messages, but apparently some of my sent mail never reaches the recipient. I've now had several people tell me they never got my messages. I have multiple accounts from different service providers, and it doesn't seem to matter which account I use to send - some recipients never get the messages, and they are NOT in a spam folder etc. particularly Gmail users have had trouble receiving my mail, but again a few messages have gone through. one person didn't get about 5 of my e-mails, but one came through so this seems quite irregular.

All my accounts in Live Mail use the same smtp server, which is my ISP's server. I have checked that its correct, and as mentioned it works half the time. I also use the same server on my laptop, and it seems to work fine. the server does not use authentication etc.

so the combination that doesn't seem to work is Live Mail and the outgoing server. is there anything I can do to pinpoint the problem further?

Answer:Windows Live Mail 2011 - sent mail leaves outbox but disappears

Thanks for the message. I found it through Google.

This feels much more complicated than using the Outbox in Window XP

After editing an email when you go to Send it
there is a little drop-down warning box that it will be sent automatically
next time you are connected to the internet.

This time can seem erratic even when you are on a wireless connection all the time.

So you cannot use Outbox to double check.

i have windows 7 and recently began using the upgraded windows live mail 2011 - after a hard drive crash i had to reinstall everything - however i haven't been able to transfer all of my e-mails over from my backup computer or external hard drive - after waiting a few hours it comes back and asks me if i want to copy all files without their properties which effectively means i cannot transfer those e-mails with the contents - can anyone please tell me how to fix this?

Answer:windows live mail 2011 - e-mail properties won't transfer

What email program is on your old machine?

If you're going to be trying stuff to get your old mail on your new Win7, be sure to make a backup of all your old mail folders before you do, and put the backup file where you'll know where it is. Probably on your old machine desktop, wouldn't hurt to put another copy on your Win7 desktop as well. Loss hurts!

Questions... are you able to do an "Import" from X, (X being the location of your old (or previous) emails?

Are you able to do an "Export" of the same emails to a file?

Does Windows Live Mail 2011 have the option to "Import emails From" or "Export" to?

One thing you can do is: make a COPY of your old "Inbox" folder and place it, (the "COPY"), on your current Win 7 desktop. Have Windows Live Mail copy it from there. If when you do, it does not then contain items such as "attachments, etc., you could simply delete all the emails in it and try something else. Your original (old emails) are still where they always were, on your other machine or external drive.

My machine is a dual/boot Windows Vista & Windows7. For email I use Windows Mail on both. I know it is oft said that Windows Mail won't work on Win7, trust me it works just fine. The transfer of all my email folders from Vista to Win7 was a painless, simple, walk in the park. Everything transferred, folders and all, nothing was lost.

Windows Live Mail 2011 - recipients not receiving mail
About 10% of my e-mail recipients are not receiving my e-mail and I do not receive non-delivery notices. Makes no difference if I select their address from my e-mail list or select respond to one of their incoming messages. This problem has plagued me for many months. I changed from Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail 2011 with no results.

Computer is HP Model m9517c, AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-Core processor, Vista 64 bit operating system with Service Pack 2, 8 GB RAM. Am using Windows Live Mail 2011 with Comcast Internet Service.

The people not receiving my e-mail are using Verizon, Earthlink and probably others. Two of my Verizon accounts changed over to gmail and email went through.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Answer:Windows Live Mail 2011 - recipients not receiving mail

Welcome
Of course, I cannot offer a definitive answer, but merely give the most like first.
Lets say you are sending from Verizon.com and you send to Yahoo.com Yahoo may have been receiving a lot of spam from Verizon and do not allow their email. Tell your friends to put you on the safe list and see if that helps.
Another possibility, is that you may have someone else's address. It may be very close to a correct address with only a small difference. YOu would not get an non delivered notice.

When I attempt to start a new email, or forward an email, or reply to an email, I get an error message saying, " A problem occurred while trying to open this message." I suspect a corrupt email template and that deleting said template will force Windows Live Mail to recreate a new (non-corrupt) template. However, I have not been able to locate the template - either it's name, or location. I would appreciate any help in the matter, even pointing me in another direction if you think I'm looking in the wrong place.

MS and their mail systems are giving me grief. I have a Vista 32 PC using "Windows Mail" and want to transfer email folders (lots) and messages to Windows 7 using Windows Live Mail 2011.

Note: Windows Mail was a replacement for Outlook express on Vista.
Windows Live Mail 2011 is a replacement for Windows Mail on Windows 7.

I tried a couple of things.

1) Basic Export and ImportI exported relavent files: Account info, Contacts and all the messages to a folder (in Windows Mail format) on old computer and used the old "Addias" transfer - copied folder to stick and RAN it over to the new computer.
- Imported (using the Windows Mail format) the Account info successfully,
- imported the Contact info successfully.
- Import Messages - appeared at first to be successful

Issue: Message folders appear to be renamed and some folder names have been truncated, not all folders appear to be there. (Looks like "long Name folders greater that 8 characters get truncated)

So...

2) Tried the "Easy transfer mechanism (Vista and Win7 transfer utility) - but couldn't get the new computer to see the Vista even though I could see them on the network. I thought that this would transfer the folder names correctly.
I'm about to try a time consuming effort of coping folder by folder (export/Import)
What I am more concerned about is that the individaul messages may have the same issue Ie not all coming accross and subject names being lost.

Answer:Solved: Troubles transferring Windows Mail Vista to Win7 Windows Live Mail 2011

I get a little nauseous just thinking about Windows Live Mail 2011, much less expending effort to use it, but I would try installing it on the Vista and see if it has the option right up front of importing stuff from Windows Mail. If it does, and happens to work correctly, then all you would have to do is find its files and copy them over.

By the way, are you putting on airs with "Addias" transfer? We plebeians just used "sneaker net."

Hi,
I just got Windows 7 64-bit with my NEW CPU. I was using (Windows XP) outlook express as my e-mail server. Since Windows 7 doesn't support it, I made a new account with Windows live 2011. I followed the instructions and added an account using my old e-mail address. I copied the properties from outlook express.
I can't get live.com to show me my e-mail. I went to their support site and followed the instructions to change the incoming port from 110 to 587 and checked the box for SSL. I still can't get any e-mail
I'm able to send it, though

Does anyone know of a utility that will remove ALL of the remnants from this program from a Windows 7 PC?

That thing is just a mess and full of complete clutter in my personal opinion. I've successfully uninstalled the thing but I don't want to just go into my user profile and start deleting folders unless I know what I'm doing. It leaves a lot behind after the uninstall throughout the computer.

I managed to use that zapmessenger thingamabob to get rid of messenger but the Windows Live Mail is still floating around all over the place.

Even any info on folders that some may know of for sure that can go would be helpful.

That Mail program is a mess. Cluttered, spell checker don't work, it keeps replacing email that i attempted to delete...
What a mess.

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post, and I'm a newbie, so please forgive the non-technical lingo.

I have a Dell Studio Laptop 1558 running Windows 7, and it came with the new 2011 Windows 7 Live Mail. This is supposed to be the newer, fancier version of Windows Live Mail. Unfortunately, I don't like this newer version, and want the older version. Actually I'd rather have OE back, but know that's not possible.

This version has "Quick Access" which I hate. In the old OE there was one "Inbox", one "Sent", one "Draft" etc, etc. and all I had to do was click the "Inbox" and see all my messages at one time. So simple.

Can I get rid of QA or at least rig it to show all my email at once, and not separate them?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

If he does install Windows 10 again, would he still be able to access Windows Live Mail through a desktop icon the way he does now? Yesterday I downloaded (quite by accident) Windows Live Mail 2011. I'm stumbling around in it. The worst problem as of now is that when I try to view my list of sent emails, I cannot view them by who I sent them to. I use this all day for my work. I've tried selecting different options, none seems to work.

I have been using Windows Live Mail for about a year and like it. However, yesterday I was surprised to find I had been upgraded to Windows Live Mail 2011. Everything works BUT the Junk e-mail protection now no longer functions. Every protection level I choose (then click APPLY and next OKAY), fails or is totally unresponsive. All mail (including tons of spam) now goes into my Inbox. Microsoft offers no direct support, and I get no responses on their forum. Also I tried downloading this program again; however, it sees it's installed and won't re-install it. Help!!

Hi,

I have a friend who is running Windows 7 right now and he uses Windows Live Mail 2011. He accesses it via a desktop shortcut icon. He had upgraded to Windows 10, but he didn't like it, so he rolled back to 7.

If he does install Windows 10 again, would he still be able to access Windows Live Mail through a desktop icon the way he does now? His current email configuration allows synchronization of his email between a Windows PC as well as mobile apple devices, so I am reluctant to 'help' him make any changes which might change that configuration.

Answer:Problem with windows live mail 2011

hi Tyler922, and welcome to sevenforums

you need to change to rich text (html) mode when writing a new message - the default plain text doesn't allow graphics, links or fancy fonts.

you'll need to change your options if you don't want to have to do this each time you write a mail:

click on blue rectangle in top-left hand corner >> options >> mail >> send >> change mail sending format to HTML

I am confused about the things that I am reading regarding the Windows Live Mail program when you have multiple Live ID's. For example, if you have a personal ID and a different one for business (or one for husband, one for wife, one for family). I read somewhere how to link the ID's, but the directions given didn't match what was actually on my screen (think I read somewhere they turned off that feature, but then turned it back on).

Anyway, I gues my main question is if you are in the Windows LIve Mail 2011 program, to the left, you can see your different Live ID's and their folders, but at the top, it looks like you are only logged into one of them. Do you really have to click "Sign in with a different Windows Live ID" in order to recieve mail from the ones that you do not appear to be logged into? In other words, do I have to switch back & forth to recieve e-mails from those different accounts (log out of one and into the other), or is there a way that you can just click on each one (on the left, where your folders are) and it will download mail for them. I hope that made sense -not sure how to word that exactly!

Answer:Multiple ID's in Windows LIve Mail 2011

Hi!

When you open Windows Live and you are on the default 'mail screen', you can see in the top right corner which account is set as your default account. However, this doesn't means that much, the only time I can think when it is important is when you create a new mail. By default you will send it from this mail-account, but every time you compose a new mail, you can easley select from which account the mail should be send through the use of the drop down-menu.

Now, what the downloading of the messages concerns: Windows Live Mail downloads messages from all accounts automatically when starting up and shutting down the program, and each x minutes (regarding your settings). You can also download new mails by clicking the 'send/receive'-button (note that the exact wordings might be different because I'm using the program in another language) on the right hand side on the start-tab.

So to answer your question: no you don't have to sign in separately to receive new mails. Normally, when you have imported a new e-mail account into your program, the receiving will be automatically.

Is this an answer to your question?

Hello, this is hardy81 sometimes I feel a hundred.

I use windows live mail 2011 essentials. During the past month or so I have been getting a random complaint that some people I email to get up to 45 copies of the same message with the same time. I use Cox Cable high speed with the fastest speed they have available. I talked to their teck support and could not help me sayting that if I used Web mail I would not have a problem, however I have allways usind Microsoft email programs without a problem starting with Windows 3.11, long time ago. I use AVG PAID version for antivirus, along with Malware bytes. It does not appear that I have a virus or some other crazy bug. Sometimes I use the mouse pointer to click the send button, sometimes I just click the enter button on the keyboard to send mail. I am aware of the possibilityof the keyboard enter switch bouncing, however the keyboard is new, about three months old, it is the very bright one with large yellow keys and black letters, eys require a high resolution key board.

Does anyone have an idea about what may cause this???

Hi,

While attempting to compress and email some photos I have seen some bizarre behaviour from WLM2011.

If I select a few pix and elect to send them to an email recipient, instead of simply asking if I want them made smaller, WLM2011 tries to invoke the use of Skydrive and then wants me to log on to a Hotmail account.

Now every time I open WLM2011 it also opens the Hotmail login popup.

Surely there is an easier way to compress a few pictures so I can email them?

I have used the Zip function which works quite simply, is this the answer, please?

Rob.

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows Live Mail 2011

Zipping is what I use from Windows Explorer.

Otherwise, while in WLM, you can attach or insert pics.

Hello everyone, Whenever I click on an email link to send someone an email my computer tries to open Windows Live Email, but I always get an Error message.  I tried to copy and paste it, but I was unable to so. So I saved a screenshot of it and will include it.   This has been going on for years!! I had tried contacting Windows about it, but nothing worked. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling like they suggested, that did not work!  I tried different settings on my computer for Default programs, that did not work!  Even the previous version of Windows Live Mail Did the same thing!! So it was recommended I install Windows Live Mail 2011, But I encountered the same problems!!  When I contacted windows about it I was basically told: "either do not use it, turn it off, or uninstall it" I tried to uninstall it, but that would mean uninstalling Vista and then Reinstalling Vista or doing a couple other things that I forget because it has been so long ago.I have tried to set one of my email accounts to load up when I click on an email link, but that has not worked! It just reverts back to the Windows Live Mail and I still get an error message.Does anyone have any clue on how I can fix this?

My computer just updated to Live Mail 2011 this morning. I have discovered an annoying issue I am hoping someone can shed light on. Hopefully I can adequately describe this issue.

I use the program for my email and my class folders for school. I go to school online so everything goes through a newsgroup. Prior to updating to the conversations would stay in a single thread. If a thread was started under the title if "Hi" regardless of the title of any message posted under that thread it would stay together. I have noticed that if the title of any message changes then a new thread is started in the newsgroup folder. So let's say under "Hi" there are 3 responses then someone decides to respond in the thread but change the message title to "bye" the "bye" message would start a whole new thread. I really hope that makes sense it is not that easy to describe. I am hoping there is a way to fix this as tracking the conversations within their context is difficult if I don't know what conversation the message was originally attached to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,

Any tips,

unfortunately, microsoft made the decision to remove stationery from windows live mail.

you can't do it, i'm afraid.

and to make it worse, i don't know how to go back to the old program.

if you want rose backgrounds etc, you'll need to try a different email program.

thunderbird is highly regarded, but to do stationery you'll need to download an add-on for it.

my mother swears by incredimail, a fun-type email program where you can add backgrounds etc to your heart's content, but personally i hate it!

Good Morning seven Forums,

I tried to find a forum dedicated to just Windows Live Mail Essentials win 7 Pro, did not find one if it does exist.

My Question: Where in Options for Windows Live Mail Essentials 2011 can I remove the requirement that large emails messages will be divided into 256KB sizes. I checked each option tab and contents in options, Mail and other sections, could not find that options endabled. I want to disable it if possible. I don't think it's a limit in WLM.
In WLM 2012 I just sent and received an Email with a 2,886 KB .rtf attachment.
No problems and file was received as a single file in Outlook 2010 and WLM 2012.

You may want to check with the ISPs for the sending and receiving.

You can do a Google search for windows live mail file size limit
Here is one thread i found from MS about this.

Hi guys,

Need some advice please, have trawled other questions and answers but nothing seems entirely appropriate.

I bought new laptop 10 days ago as last one got too slow. It's an Acer with 4Gb DDR3 mem, i3 processor, 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium

I downloaded Windows Live Mail 2011. I used to have Outlook on previous computer but didnt even try moving emails across, just started again and I have the old laptop as a point of reference if required.

It worked fine for a week. The last few days, I load it up, then within about 30 secs I get the eggtimer and it freezes. I may have time to download my emails and delete a handful, or even reply to a couple, but pretty quickly it freezes up. I then have to close the program down and start it again to reply to another email. It's a long process.

I have tried restoring computer to previous date but this does not work.I could maybe get a copy of Outlook? Would it be easy to import everything across or would this bug prevent me from doing that (ie keep on crashing).

Or is there a much simpler way to get it working again? Obviously if I uninstall it I will lose all my emails over last week which are extremely important?

Anyone that can help, it would be much appreciated. Could the fact it is 64-bit be the reason for the crashing?

Answer:Windows Live Mail 2011 - keeps freezing

I doubt if uninstalling and reinstalling WLM would cause a loss of email, but to be safe you could export them to a safe place for backup. Before that I'd see if the problem is fixed with a repair install via Programs and Features. Just select Windows Live Essentials and choose "repair". All the components of the Essentials package that were installed will be repaired. (No need to back up for a "repair".)

Hello,

I am using Windows Live Mail 2011 to receive emails from my website email address, gmail account, and live account. Problem is that often with Gmail emails when I delete the items fast or navigate it says to me time out wait 60 seconds, sometime asks me for password and sometime get stuck. This happens often with gmail settings!! Any fix for this bug? or how should I fix the problem

Answer:Problem with Windows Live Mail 2011

I've seen a type of "wait 60 seconds" in connection with a message stating that "the server has not responded". It seems to be a common problem for me and I'm not even using a gmail or a live account. This has been happening since at least 2007 with Vista's Windows Mail, maybe longer back in the Outlook Express days. I usually just cancel out of the message and start the process again (whether it's deleting or downloading mail from the server). It usually works right away on the second try.

Is there anyway I can install the windows Live Mail 2011 Essentials and use CUSTOM option to choose what parts of the program I want to install. And if it is possible and it turns out it does not function the way I expected and want to goback to the standard Live Mail 2011, no Essentials.

Or, is there a way to install all of the 2011 Essentials except the OFFICE 2007 MENU BAR, which I do not really like.

Not sure why Microsoft is telling it's users to use it the way we say or go to some other operating system.

Answer:Windows Live Mail 2011 essentials

Welcome
Each component of WLE, can be installed separately. If you want to test a piece of software, make a system restore point, first. You can go back to the way everything was before the install.
You can uninstall the software, too. In my opinion System Restore is a better way to go, you remove everything; even registry pieces usually left behind.

Hi,

I hope this is in the right forum.

I have just got my new W7 system running, thanks to those who helped by answering my many questions. The only issues I am experiencing so far are with Windows Live Mail 2011.

I have managed to import all my existing e-mails from Windows Live mail on my XP system, but I can't move them from the storage folders to the inbox. Is this normal or have I missed something? Also I can't get WLM2011 to remember my Font preferences or to empty the Deleted Items folder when I exit. Previous iterations of WLM had a Tools tab but I can't find a similar function on the 2011 version.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rob.

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows Live Mail 2011

Hi -

WLM 2011 info - Import your e-mail, contacts, and calendar into Windows Live Mail

The new 2011 installation should download emails from your previous WLM installation assuming same email accounts are used.

In Windows 7, WLM folder = C:\Users\PalmDesert\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

Try and copy the WLM folder from XP to the Windows 7 WLM folder.

WLM 2011 Tools settings - click on blue icon, select "Options", "Mail" -

Every now and again, I receive a E-mail containing a joke or some interesting bit of information that I would like to forward on to a few of my friends.
Now at the moment, I have to send them one at a time.

Is there a way that I can forward that joke to several different people all at once. rather than typing them out one at a time.. If so HOW ?

Answer:Windows Live Mail 2011 help needed

Click on Forward in the ribbon header then click on TO... to bring up your address book. Select multiple recipients by holding down the Control (Ctrl) key and clicking on the accounts. Down below the list, select TO, CC or BCC. All the accounts you select will appear in the appropriate recipient line(s).

Hello,

I've installed Windows Live mail 2011 over the previous version and have now found out that Microsoft removed the stationary, Is there stationary available elsewhere that will work with WLM 2011. Or how can I downgrade to the previous version of Windows live mail.

thanks,

Shaun

I can add as attachments but they never arrive as i have tried sending to myself a few e mails. Is there a setting i am missing somewhere.

Hi:
I just purchased a brand new PC with Win 7 from local store. I downloaded WLM from MS afterwards.

In WLM 2011, I created a first e-mail address and went all fine. Howeve my second e-mail address, it does not work, .... popping up 'password' in the middle of the screen and 'authorizing' at the bottom of the screen. I typed a right password just as I did on my first e-mail address.

On another PC with Win 7, both the first and second e-mail addresses work OK, never popping up 'password' in the middle of the screen.

Just wonder why a brand new PC/Win 7, .... Windows Live Mail 2011 refuses to accepp my second e-mail address?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I had no problem transferring all of the other data from my old hard drive, but I cannot bring the Windows Live Mail Contacts into my new created account. I am not using a Microsoft email, but the one from my internet provider. I found the contact list on user/my name/app data/local/Microsoft/Windows Live Contacts/Guid/DBStore. I used a program called LiveContactsView, but it only shows the demographic information and no email addresses. Is there a program or another way to retrieve all of my contact list.

Answer:Windows Live Mail 2011 contact is strange

Welcome to Seven Forums kdsearch. You should be able to export your contact as a .csv file, then open it in Excel if your mail provider does not provide the option to import a .csv file.

How to Export Contacts and Email Addresses from Windows Mail - About Email

If you have Excel, or the Excel viewer installed, the .csv file should open when double clicked.

What is the email provider of your ISP? It may indeed support importing a .csv file. A Guy
