I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How do find screen saver on& offon windows7

I'm running Windows 7 on my PC. The screen saver is set to show my jpg. photos in selected folders.

It is FANTASTIC! the best photo display I've ever seen. Is there any way it can be converted to an app I could put on a blog, or is there a photo display app that is as good? Sorry, It would have to be free.

I have just downloaded a screen saver from the Net (don't remember the webpage) on my PC; but now I can't change it. When I go to <control panel, change screen saver>, and I click on any wall paper, it gives me the warning: "this screen saver can not run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct 3D."
Anybody knows what that means? BTWY, my PC is only one month old.

Thanks in advance for any helpful ideas.

Answer:screen saver does not change on windows7

It would appear as the error denotes that your video card does not support Direct 3D. Click the start orb and type msinfo32 Click the { + } next to Components and then Display. Post the make and model of the card.

Win 7: Directory_for Screen Savers? Hi:I have created an animation in Mathematica 8.0.4 and exported it as an .avi file. I want to run it as a screen saver. I was thinking that I could just drag and drop the avi file into the screen saver directory where the other screen savers are located, and set it up to run it from "Screen Saver Settings". Is this possible? If so, how can I find the screen saver directory where I can drop the avi file? Thanks,Bill

Answer:How to find Win 7 Screen Saver Directory of Screen Sav files

Screensavers have a .SCR file extension. Look in Windows > System32 or Windows > SysWOW64

hi all.

i have just freshly formateed and re-installed Windows 7 on my pc inorder to find whymy sleep and screen saver/timeouts are not working.

i havve tried to trouble shoot it, and come up with nothing. it is currently a bare bones system, with windows, MoBo Drivers and latest windows updates. that it. and it still wont work.

command prompt gives this

Code:
C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
HID-compliant mouse
Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
HID Keyboard Device
and this

Code:
C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -requests
DISPLAY:
None.

SYSTEM:
None.

AWAYMODE:
None.
it is currently installing some updates, but that shouldnt effect the screen saver comming on.

any other sugestions on what i can try to find out what is stopping it from working?

Jason

Answer:Windows Screen Saver wont work and i cant find the cause

i have also just tried a different KB and Mouse. still wont enter screen saver. but if i click preview, it works there, so there is nothing on that side stopping it. task manager shows system idle process at 99% and im not to sure what to look for in process monitor to see what could be causing it.

Hello.

I just installed Vista Ultimate 32-bit on a computer used by a few guests in my house.

In Windows XP, when the screen saver would activate from idle and someone would move the mouse it would show the list of users.

In Windows Vista, after I move the mouse it goes back to the last logged in user's desktop.

In screen saver, I clicked the "go to logon after resume" check for every user's screen saver but it doesn't work.

How can I fix this?

I am aware of the Screen Saver setup and modify capabilities in the Personalization menu. I am also aware that there is a Preview button there also.
There is a program in the Windows system files that you can put on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen. You can then click this Icon and manually start the Screen Saver.
I however (in my infinite stupidity) have forgotten the name of this program and where it is located. Can someone please tell me what its name is and where it is located?

I downloaded a free sample of a screensaver from digiscapes.com just to have a look - and then uninstalled it. Now I constantly get a pop up window telling me I'm running an unregistered Buddy Saver screensaver. My husband reinstalled and uninstalled for me, but I'm still living with this Buddy Saver annoyance. How do I get rid of it ?? (I also sent them an email weeks ago to ask what to do but no response). Thanks

Answer:Buddy Saver screen saver

It is probably running at startup. Go to start > run and type in msconfig and enter. Go to the startup tab and uncheck the item for it listed there.

I have asus laptop F5SLseries, it came with vista installed. Later i installed windows 7(32 bit). Now i'm unable to find my webcam, it shows in the device manager as usb2.0 1.3 uvc webcam but doesn't show up in the installed program. The webcam opens in the skype window and other applications and webpages.

i checked in asus site for the webcam for windows 7 http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=F5SL&p=3&s=95&os=8&hashedid=TvXKPpwxt2K6algP but it was not there.

How would i get back my webcam interface.

Answer:can't find my webcam on windows7

Since Asus don't have any Windows 7 drivers for the F5SL , try the Vista driver for the webcam.
If still no good, you'll only get the webcam back by putting Windows Vista back on.

You should have checked the driver situation at Asus before upgrading because although many Vista drivers will work okay on Windows 7, there are quite a few that don't, and your webcam may be one of them.

You're fortunate in that Windows 7 has a very large driver library on the DVD and it was able to supply almost all the required drivers except that one.
That does at least leave you with the option keeping Windows 7 on your laptop and buying a clip-on webcam for it.
First I would take a look in Device Manager and make sure there are no other driver errors with any other device that you haven't yet been aware of.

I have Toshiba A10-131 and I would like to use one of the latest versions of Toshiba Power Saver (Russian localized). Shall I? Where I can download it? In download section there is only some old version.

Answer:A10-131: Can't find a new version of Power Saver

Hi

Well, you can try to check Power saver which is installed on the other newer units. Maybe there you will find a newer version. But I can?t understand why you want to update the Power Saver? You should know that if you installed power saver for another units so you could have some problems. In my opinion if you don?t have any problems with you old power saver so you shouldn?t make any updates.

Hi

You need to install the VAP package (value added package).
It contains different tools and also the TOSHIBA Power Saver which controls power consumption by switching to optimum power settings, based on whether the machine is plugged in or on battery power, and based on the remaining battery power.

Answer:Where can i find Power Saver for Satellite A300D?

Hi

Do you mean the Toshiba Power Saver?

The Toshiba Power Saver as a ?stand alone? application is available only for Win XP.
But using the Vista or Win 7 you can find some of the Power Saver settings in Vista Power Management or Win 7 Power Management.

For that you need to install the Value Added Package from the Toshiba European driver page.

Screensaver is enabled and so is 'Display welcome screen when coming back from screensaver'.

This works most of the time, however on a regular basis the screensaver will resume to the following screen and just stay there forever.

The only thing to do is to press the power button, at which point a popup alerts that a user is logged in, do you still want to shut down.

Sounds like your VGA driver is outdated, or not installed. You would have to post your system specs for us, to find out where you should go to download them. If your video card / chip is ATI or Nvidia you can find drivers at their websites.

Hello,

I've got Qosmio F30-140, and I tried to install Windows 7, but as usual windows 7 could not find the storages.

So I hope to find solution with someone.

thank you very much.

Answer:Qosmio F30-140 - Windows7 cannot find the HDD - SATA storage

Hi

The Qosmio F30 supports RAID controller.
So you need the RAID driver and not the SATA driver.

You could check the Toshiba European driver page. There is a RAID driver for Vista OS.
You could try to use it in connection with Win 7.

If this will not work then you could disable the RAID in BIOS.
I think you could find these settings on the 3rd BIOS page.

Hi there,

Does any one know when or if Toshiba is going to enable us to download such utilities compatible with P100-188 series notebooks? I have very disappointed with the sound quality as compared with my M45 satellite that I have replaced with this P100-188 (PSP3AE).

I still can not see those utilities on the list tailored for this particular type of notebooks. Can anyone help me please?
Thanks and merry xmas-John

Answer:Satellite P100-188: Where to find Power Saver & Virtual Surround Sound

Well, as far as I know some units from the P series are delivered without the Power saver and the Virtual sound.
I don?t know why, but I assume it?s a kind of policy?
However, I don?t think that Toshiba will design and develop the tools if the notebook was delivered without these features.

I can remember a friend of mine has bought a unit from a P series a long time ago and this notebook was also not delivered with Toshiba power saver.
He had to use the Windows power options instead of the power saver.

Everything is working great except for my battery not lasting very long.

I have searched but haven't been able to find a working copy of Toshiba Power Saver that will work on my laptop with XP 64.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Answer:Where to find Win XP 64bit Power Management/Saver for Satellite M305D-S4830

Hi!

I think you will not find a 64bit version from Toshiba Power Saver.
Toshiba does not support XP 64bit so are no 64bit software available.

You must use the settings from Windows or you change to Vista 64bit. Vista has more options to save energy and it?s the same like Power Saver.

Hi,
I have a Dell 1750 Inspiron laptop that I use "as a desktop" as every piece of hardware is connected to it.
It runs with Windows 7 Home Edition. It has a 4gb memory and a 450gb hard drive which is less than half used.

I have the screen saver set to Photos and usually have a cut-in time of 1 hour idle.

The screen saver cuts in exactly when it should and scrolls through my photos for as long as the laptop is left idle.

However, as soon as I touch the mouse/keyboard, instead of reverting to the "normal" screen the photos disappear, the blank screen fades for a few seconds and then a message appears in a box, saying that the Photos Screen Saver is not responding, and gives the options of either close the program or wait for the programme to respond. Waiting doesn't seem to work so I have to click on close the programme and then cancel the statement that Windows will try to find a solution, because it doesn't!

I have tried to vary the time before the screen saver kicks in, anything from 1 minute to several hours but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Can anyone help please?

Answer:Photo Screen Saver wont revert back to live screen

Have you checked the timing for when the HDD turns off or Sleep or Hibernation kicks in [I disable both of those and lengthen the time on the HDD to several hours], Control Panel, Power Options?

The reason I mentioned the HDD is the symptoms you mentioned seem to apply. The screen saver could be in memory and not affected by the HDD until it's asked for something.

I did an upgrade from Win 7 , and Screen Saver / Turn off display after 5 mins was working under Win 7 64 bit
As my title suggest Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins are not working under Win 10
The Lock screen Slideshow is there when Win 10 starts but only shows ONE image, never moves to another.
THINGS I've done so far to get any of these working ...Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins
I’ve turned off all the Wake on lan functions
Tried different folder/ images for the lockscreen Slideshow ,window spotlight and picture
Tried to set new power options , was able to get SLEEP to show up in "Start" as it was not there before, but once click , the display DID turn off, but wouldn’t turn back on with mouse movement keyboard presses, had to do a hard reboot. Win 10 started without issue and the SLEEP mode was no longer aviable via the power "start" menu.
Anyone have a clue how to get all of these working. Really would like my display to turn off after 5 mins , and the Screen saver to work , the Lockscreen I'm not fussed about

Hibernation in it self saves everything thats in RAM at the time the system is put into that mode. It should not lock the PC as that wasn't the state it was in before it hibernated. perhaps lock the PC before you push the hibernate button!

Some of the insects (0,5mmx 2mm) are obviously dead, but some are still crawling. Sometimes disapearing and reapearing.Should I open the sreen and cleaning according to:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?DocID=PD005995 RegardsPlusminus

Answer:Insects - crawling under the glass screen - like screen saver T400s

You mean they are inside the LCD?Or just inside your case? If just the later then yes take off those 2 screws on the base then pop the bezel off. The LCD can come out from there.Be sure to remove all AC and Battery power before working on the unit to avoid any shorts.

I installed the Creator's Update - 1703 - on my Latitude E5450 laptop over the weekend.

I was a little bit startled the first time the screen saver went on. I could no longer click my mouse or tap the keyboard to get the password login box to show.

I finally figured out that I had to press Ctrl + Alt + Del.

Does anyone else use a screen saver and have it go back to the lock screen? Is there an option to allow a mouse click to prompt for login?

Answer:Change to login screen w/ screen saver in Creator's Update

Only time that I have used Ctrl-Alt-Del was with Windows 7 and before. No need for it with 10. Just turn it off with http://www.thewindowsclub.com/ultima...r-4-windows-10

This is what someone else wrote in another topic: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/741250-windows-warning-message-win32-adware.html

"I booted my computer up today, and saw my background wasn't available anymore. Then I see the message, "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer". It says that Win32/Adware.Virtumonde and Win32/PrivacyRemover.M64 are on my computer."

I had the exact same problem but i followed the instructions that someone posted in that topic, these were the instructions posted by "drdrew1469":

"I just got through fixing this (I hope). What it did here was change the background and set the screensaver to the sysinternals bluescreen screensaver (which you may be seeing) while at the same time setting policies in the registry to disable the two aforementioned tabs in the Display properties window.

I have set up my Win 7 Pro 64-bit screen saver to bring up the password logon screen upon activation of the mouse/keyboard/whatever.

Late last week, whenever I moved the mouse or clicked the keyboard, the screensaver would go directly to the desktop, bypassing the logon screen. I went to the screensaver utility and unchecked and rechecked the 'On resume, display the logon screen' box, selecting 'Apply and OK' each time.

This would work for maybe two or three times and then go back to returning to the desktop.

I've run MalwareBytes, IOBit, and Norton and all come up virus/rootkit free.

Any ideas?

Answer:Screen Saver to password logon screen failing

There are a few seconds of "grace" time, meaning when the screensaver launches you have a few seconds to "wake it" and go back to your desktop without locking it.

I guess I can assume you're not talking about that, right?

Answer:Screen Saver Window 7 Logon Screen Slideshow

Hello ZMan, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You will not be able to have a slideshow with the logon screen saver. As in the tutorial, it can only be a blank black screen if enabled. Anything else, and you get that message in the NOTE box at the top of the tutorial.

Sorry,

This might seem like basic question and hope its the right place, but after opening box and starting up and numerous reboot issues until I got the bios updated.  Now the only key issue is that when I sign off via Win+L to lock the screen, the screen saver will not come on -- is there a work around this besides having the machine go to sleep completely?

I am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too. Any suggestions as to what my problem is would be fantastic!

Thanks.

Answer:Screen Saver to black unresponsive screen

/me makes "lazer" airquote gestures

Inability to successfully complete power state transitions (awake<->asleep<->hibernating) is almost always caused by driver or BIOS issues. If you're confident that all the drivers are on their latest versions, have you also done the same for the BIOS?

Okay, so I need an application to do this for work. We just got a nice LCD that will be displaying a monitoring tool all the time, and we don't want anything to get burned in (Can this even happen with LCDs?) Anyway, the obvious solution is to do what alot of plasma displays already do: orbit the image around the screen ever so slightly, so that it's not always in the same spot. The problem is, I've only found one program to do this, and it costs $30 (Powerstrip). Anybody know of any free utilities to do this?

Answer:Preventing screen burn-in without a screen saver

I'm not sure of anything else, but in the least... powerstrip is a great program to have in general. Not just for that feature, but for a moltitude of other features for tv out, resolution, image adjustment etc. it's well worth $30 imo.

I have a very strange problem, I'm stumped and would appreciate any help.
On my new HP6910 laptop, when my XP Pro SP3 (system default XP) Screen Saver comes on, the screen has a partial heavily corrupted copy of the bottom taskbar at the top of the screen (!) and when I ctrl-alt-delete and enter my password the taskbar at the bottom is missing all of its text but otherwise looks reasonable. The Oulook, Word, and other started tasks in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen have their icons, just no text, even if there is a group of them and you hover the mouse over the group and they expand. Most of them still work, but Windows Desktop Search (WDS) doesn't work and I have to close them and restart them. This seemed to start a few days after I installed WDS, added a DVI monitor to the docking station and the same day I installed Activesync 4.5. I've reinstalled WDS and removed my wallpaper but this didn't help, I'm about to reinstall Activesync but it takes a few hours to sync for the first time so I thought I would see if anybody had any other ideas before doing this.
All help is greatly appreciated!

Hi
I posted the other day and was told that my post had been moved to a different location, the link was broken so here goes again.
Computer had gotten real slow so after trying a few things (running malwarebytes, ccclean, register??) I decided to dump everything and start over.
Loaded up programs and things were a lot faster but the computer still didn't seem right. At times in typing, the letters would not type or a differnt letter typed.
Also internet explorer won't open so I have to use windows update to get on line, when I click explorer, internet properties comes up even off of Start programs internet explorer.
My computer (after apx. 5 minutes of non use) makes me log in again.
Ran malwarebytes, security essentials, so I'm not sure what is up.

Answer:No Screen Saver

You may need to go to Control Panel and then Power Options and increase (or set to never) the settings to turn off monitor.

U might need to Run System Restore, which enables the system to go back to a date before U had a problem. Everyone forgets about the most popular fix. Is simply running System Restore, which seems to undo just about anything for most folks.

The screen saver goes off, or does the computer/monitor shut off? Sounds like your power settings barely outreach your screensaver's time limit. Check the "Power Settings" in the Control Panel.

But if it goes on, then back to the desktop without touching anything, I'm not sure what's going on.

Question: Screen saver

I recently bought a new computer with a 512 MB graphic card. My old computer had a 128 MB card but at the beginning, I only had 8 MB. I was using a screen saver with fish in an aquarium. With only my 8 MB card, the animation was really impressive. I tried my screen saver yesterday with my new 512 MB card and the picture was terrible. There were plenty of horizontal lines on the screen. What could explain this? Could it be that the program wasn't intented for this type of card? In those days, big cards like mine didn't exist. There might be a new update to this screen saver.

Okay, sounds silly, but after multiple attempts to activate my screen saver on my new HP p6649c running Win7 with an ATI Radeon HD4200 graphics card, I can't activate it.

would like to get a copy of aquarium screen saver...like what you see on the demo computers at Circuit City, etc.

If anyone knows where there's this type of screen saver at a safe location, I'd greatly appreciate you're letting me know...my granddaughter (age 1) is fascinated with this screen saver...

Thanks...Cranberry

come on unless there is a program running i.e. I'm online and have a web brouser active or I'm woking with a documet. As soon as I close what I'm working on and leave, it could be for days, and come back I'm still looking at my desktop. It will not work unless I'm working with something.
Weird huh? Any ideas??
