Want to eliminate hot mail

Question: Want to eliminate hot mail

want to just use my windows live mail

Relevance 100%
Preferred Solution: Want to eliminate hot mail

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Want to eliminate hot mail

I don't have AOL anymore. I'd like to leave the AIM since I use that everyonce in awhile, but I've noticed that there are some lingering AOL related folders. How do I make sure that I have the very minimal necessary for AIM? Thanks!

Answer:How to eliminate everything of AOL?

Did you uninstall AOL? Where are these "AOL related folders"?
Don't worry about deleting AIM files with AOL, they should be in two seperate directories. There are no AOL files in C:\Program Files\AIM, and as long as you don't touch that folder, there should be no problems with AIM.

I have been trying to eliminate Backweb ever since it turned up on the results from Spy Sweeper (webroot). It does not turn up through Spry Ferret or AdAware. I have tracked it down, I think, to the Logitec program for the web cam I have. I deleted an exe file and a dll file. But, it keeps reappearing each time a boot.

Understand that some programs use it for downloads but was willing to try removing it totally and seeing if I have a problem.

Any advice on why it keeps reappearing and how to get rid of it are MOST appreciated.

Thanks,

Len

Answer:Can't Eliminate Backweb

Hi, Yes, some camera uploads and downloads are done using this for updating, too and on certain kinds of Compaq or HP or other branded computers, you will find Backweb or BWLite...usually SpyBot or AdAware picks these up. let's check your settings for AAW= set them this way, it will do no harm, takes a little while longer, but it is the best way at least at the start of scanning process, later it can be switched to Smart scan.

IF you already have these, post that. You may have simply deleted something that can be put back. AdAware and SpyBot both make backups, however if you used Hijack This to remove anything, it may or may not make backups where you can find them. HJT must be run from a permanent folder on drive C: like My Downloads, Documents...or one you simply make like C:\HJT
I know you have not posted a log, would you be kind enough to, here are the directions to copy and paste that, and where to get it from. I have a separate link for the executable form of HJT, a box will pop up, just download it to a folder of your choice or make an HJT folder for it, run it from there, and post your logfile.
Download here, either form you wish:
http://www.lurkhere.com/forum/DCForumID6/684.html
And your directions, left center Copy/Paste

I have an older Dell latitude notebook that i forgot the user password on.....i logged on as admin and just deleted the user with the forgotten password.

But for some stupid reason I created a HDD password.........i KNOW this password, and I can get into the computer like normal........I want to eliminate the requirement to punch in this HDD password every time I start the laptop....I just want to go right to the windows username/password screen.

Any help?...

As I said, i KNOW the password....

Thanks

Andrew

Answer:eliminate need for HDD password.....

The only way to do this is to get into Windows normally and remove the drive password the same way you put it on. You might be able to do it via the Admin account just like you did to remove the forgotten password.

Something called FriendsChecker has been adding links to the web pages I visit, just like oyodomo did. I have Webroot antivirus now, and it hasn't found any threats. Earlier today I ran scans with AdwCleaner, TDSSkiller and ESET, and they all reported no threats, but it sure looks like a virus to me. Is anyone here familiar with FriendsChecker? I want to remove it, but don't know how since none of the scans turned up anything. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Question: Eliminate Sign On

Being very new to Vista I didn't have this with XP that I recall. I can't seem to find a way out of having to sign in every time I boot up and after a brief period of being away and come back, I have to sign in again after about 30 minutes. Where can you go to alter these settings? Being the only one on this computer I don't see the need in a password and having to sign in so much.

Answer:malware & eliminate help .....

Welcome to PCHF rusobr2 A slow, sluggish computer with a mouse disappearing? That sounds like an infection to me. I'm going to move your thread to the Malware Removal area so we can get you diagnosed and if infected, fixed up Please follow the below instruction to begin your malware removal treatment

Please download the FRST 32 bit or FRST 64bit version to suit your operating system. It is important FRST is downloaded to your desktop.

If you are unsure if your operating system is 32 or 64 Bit please go HERE.

Once downloaded right click the FRST desktop icon and select "Run as administrator" from the menu"

If you receive any security warnings, or the User Account Control warning opens at any time whilst using FRST you can safely allow FRST to proceed.
Frst will open with two dialogue boxes, accept the disclaimer.

Accept the default whitelist options,
If the additions.txt options box is not checked please select it.

Then select "Scan"

Frst will take a few minutes to scan your computer, and when finished will produce two log files on your desktop, FRST.txt, and Addition.txt. They will display immediately on the desktop, but can be reopened later as a notepad file.

Please Copy and Paste the contents of these logs in your next post for review by our Security Team

Answer:Please help me eliminate viruses

In case it helps to know:

I ran McAfee scan, then scan in safe mode, then ran McAfee Stinger, then ran McAfee freescan. None of them detected anything.

I downloaded a program called Prevx 3.0. It detected 8 problems. I took a screnshot of the problems it found (attached)

I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials. It installed on my computer, but it will not open on my computer. I think the virus is blocking it.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Answer:How to eliminate Bad information about myself on the Web

erm only time will do that as far as I am aware unless the guy repeatedly updates the posts. You could try reporting this to the site that has the negative info listed they may do something but if that doesn't work I don't think there is much you can do everyone is entitle to their opinion unless he is being slanderous then you could consider suing him for what he is saying but if it is true you really don't have a leg to stand on in a court of law.

I had trouble with a new HP printer installation. I went to HP Technical Support and one of the individuals took control of my computer. In an attempt to remove some HP files I now have Windows Installer appearing at start up. I get a screen that says 'Please wait while Windows configures Unload.' Then another screen appears that asks for a CD-ROM to complete the installation. I'd like to get rid of this routine.

I did go to Event Viewer and found an error for MSInstaller Event 11706 Product Unload Error 1706. This was dated January 19, 2009, the date of my interaction with HP Technical Support.

All,
I would appreciate whatever help you can provide to help me get rid of SpySheriff. I have followed some of the existing threads unsuccessfully.

I already went thought one cycle of recovering which took me nearly 6 hours.
At first it looked promising then SpySheriff took over again once I booted with Normal Mode.
I have installed on the infected PC the following:

Clean up
Ad-aware SE
CWShredder
Spybot S&D - cannot run it because I cannot connect to the network to get updates
Ewido Security Suite
kazaaBegone

I have started another cycle to attempt to cleanup and to this point I have run "cleanup" and Ewido".
I then ran HJT and this is the log file:

My physical memory has been running high recently, even if I'm not doing anything. The CPU can get a little high too. As a consequence of this, my computer freezes a lot. Which of these processes can I eliminate to make my computer run better?

Oh, and why does it say there are eighty-something processes going, but I can only see 20 or 30?

Thank you!

BTW, the photo is a bit small, sorry, this is my first post.

Answer:Which processes can I eliminate

To see all the processes click "Show processes from all users" at the bottom of the Task Manager window.

It looks like you have a lot of factory pre-installed programs running.

I have a spreadsheet that lists all the this business' outstanding bills, the bills are placed into the spreadsheet as they come in, What I'm trying to do is set up a Macro to eliminate the Duplicates, however I want the oldest due date and the newest amount due to stay. All data starts in row13, "D &E" contain the vendor and Account number so that is the location that I will be looking to duplicates, I want to delete the previous entires, which "A" has the date in which the bill was received. however I want the Due date in column "G" to remain the oldest due. The rest of the information needs to be the most current. I have already received help from you with a Macro to move the Paid bills off this page and it worked GREAT!!!!, Thanks. The data runs from column "A - M"

Answer:Look for duplicates to Eliminate row

re: the oldest due dateJust to be sure there is no confusion, what is your definition of the "oldest due date"?Assuming today is April 2, 2010, please provide 2 due dates and tell us which one is the "oldest".re: I want the oldest due date and the newest amount due to stayIs this one item that stays or two?re: "D & E" contain the vendor and Account number so that is the location that I will be looking to duplicatesDoes the code need to look at both to find duplicates or either one?re: eliminate the DuplicatesWill there be more than 2 entries that could match? In other words does the code have to find the "oldest due date" between just 2 duplicates or between 3, 4, 5, etc. duplicates.

Can someone please give me some suggestions as to how to eliminate 'Buzzdoc ads'?! This is driving me nuts. I don't know where it came from, but a few days ago it showed up in my Firefox browser, and now every single time I do a Google search i've got this damn Buzzdoc ads popping up at the top 1/4 of the page. since then, I've been getting lots of popups and ads and all kinds of other crap. I think it all started with the Buzzdoc ads, so I really want to get rid of that. Also, since I'm getting random ads popping up, I'd love to deal with with that too!

I went to downloads.com and downloaded a few apps to try to clear up my machine.

So far, I ran 'CCleaner', 'Ad-Aware', and 'SUPERAntiSpyware'. Those utilities found a few issues, and resolved all. Nevertheless, now I'm still having all the problems I had before I ran these three utilities. PLEASE HELP!!

Answer:How to eliminate Buzzdoc ads?

Oh, shoot! After dealing with this annoyance for the past few days I think I finally found a solution. I did a Google search for 'remove positive finds ads' and found this.

Remove Positive Finds Ads From Chrome/Firefox/IE | virusresearch.org

I followed the steps, starting about 1/3 of the way down the page, and that seems to have fixed the problem. Hopefully this solution helps others!!

I've got Win installed with one minor problem. I don't like to use the password when I start Windows. So I did what is generally done. I got the Run box and typed in netplwiz which has always worked or me. Now it works when it makes up its mind to. Sometimes it't fine while other times I need to enter the pass word. Has anyone else run into this?

Answer:Eliminate use of password

Frank. Have not seen or hear of that before. It has been thought to have caused double images on the start page. It has always worked at start for me. It does like to make you sign in after waking up from sleep mode if you have not told it not to do that. Good luck to you Charlie

My laptop crashed just a few days ago. I couldn't get it to load windows. I had to call out a mobile technician who fixed the problem of my laptop not loading windows. But now every time i load windows it will crash after loading up my desktop. I rang the technician up for some support, but got a cold response that it would cost me over $250 to eliminate a virus after reloading windows and backing up my data. My question is how do i this and whats involved.

Any suggestions much appreciated

Answer:how do I eliminate a virus?

It might not even be a virus. Have to determine what the problem is first before we can help you fix it. Need to know which version of Windows you're running too. First go to Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer. Go to the System portion and check for any errors around the time that it last crashed.

Also if a blue screen appears after it crashes, post what the screen says on here.

I need to eliminate it's home page hijack capabilities too.
I've done the uninstall through the program itself, but it's still causing headaches.

Should I proceed with their instructions?

Read through several blogs and followed instructions to remove trojan but it keeps coming back. I had to rename Mbam to something else to get it to run. My McAfee won't run the scan even after the "cleaning". I run mbam in both safe mode with netrworking and normal start up. I ran disk cleanup right after and each time the virus comes back. Spybot won't run correctly and neither will SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition. What do I need to do to get this to stick?

How can I establish a solid link without this popup getting in the way?

I tried googling this for info and did not get any clear instructions.   Every time this pop up appears it cuts me off the router until I close both small windows and wait for it to reconnect.   What is this exactly and how to I get rid of it or work around it?

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Hi,

Please bear with me for a minute. I am helping my roommate with issues installing a printer to her notebook. It has been installed and running in the past.

I searched for an answer, and I ended up in what I thought I was a chat session with someone from HP(the printer is a HP envoy 4520). In my eagerness I didn't really stop to verify that I was indeed chatting with a HP rep. My mistake?

After a short chat, that ended with a name and number request, I received a call from someone that said they were responding to my chat session.

OK I thought, things are going good.
He identified himself as Shawn, and asked all the right questions(or so I thought).
I let him have remote control over my roommates notebook.
He proceeded to go through all the same steps I had in trying to install the printer.
I had previously tried wireless installation and cable installation.....Both failed.
I tried reloading from the disc. That failed.
I tried downloading the driver from HP that failed.
The same installation steps I took failed for Shawn as well.

After all that he went into the following:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe......which led to:C:\Users\Meg>netstat which brought up
Active Connections

From there he explained to me that her notebook is infected with a trojan called csrss.exe
After a short hold he came back on the line and informed me that after a discussion with the 'technicians"
that for US $299.99 I could get it all fixed, and we would be covered free for a year on ... Read more

Answer:Is there a trojan csrss.exe? If so how do I eliminate it.

Sounds to me like you've been scammed. Sorry to hear this.

Never, ever give anyone remote access to your system. I'm going to tell you, once they've had access, you just have no idea what they've done. It's possible they ran scripts to steal information like passwords saved in browsers. They had the opportunity to download anything onto the system. Many of these scammers leave "timebombs" which ruin the system after a certain amount of time has passed, so you end up calling them for help and giving over your credit card number, which they then use to buy eGift Cards at online retailers.

You're only sure bet is to wipe and reinstall.

If all your critical updates are installed you are protected against DSO Exploit and the finding in Spybot is just a nuisance. Eliminate this by doing the following:

1 Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode.
2 Select 'settings' in the left column.
3 Select 'ignore product' in the left column.
4 Select 'security' tab.
5 Place check mark in box beside DSO Exploit.
6 Close program
7 Open Spybot and run a scan.

You will find that DSO Exploit has been eliminated and if your computer does not harbour any other spyware you will see a congratulatory message.

Answer:Solved: need some help figuring out what i can or cannot eliminate

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

The log looks fine.
You don't need a lot of that in start up. Example would be QTTask.exe:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/Qttask.exe-4341.html

You can use the link to bleepingcomputer to check all of your startups and decide if you want to start them manually or leave them in startup.

You don't have to delete them and don't do it with hijackthis, use msconfig to just remove them from startup.

Click Start - Run, type in MSCONFIG, then click OK - "Startup" tab.

<< Remove what you want to remove >>

Click Apply - OK afterwards, then reboot. When the SCU window appears during reboot, ignore the message. Place a checkmark in the window, then click OK.
If you decide you want something running that you have disabled just use msconfig again and uncheck the item(s).

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 with a 1TB HDD running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Please ignore my sig, that's the desktop and probably outdated. Anyway the hard drive is split into 3 partitions and I do not like it. I like Green eggs and ham better than my hard drive setup. I have the main (C:\) sized at 578 GB and I have a recovery (D:\) sized at 21.6 GB and then I have the problem partition being (P:\) sized at another 578 GB. It looks to me like the P:\ drive is just an exact mirror of C:\ and this I don't like. I don't like it because now I'm looking at "45 GB" of free space when in fact I should have over 500 left. If I want to mirror my drive I have an external 1GB I can use. I don't need a backup system on the PC.

So what might be causing it? How can I stop it copying? Can I expand the C:\ partition wiping the P:\ without impairing the functionality of the existing software installed on C:\ partition?

Answer:Can I eliminate HDD Clone partition?

Well nowaday's some programs are doing interesting things with the 'P' partition... the largest of such programs is the office 2010 starter edition... If you/or someone on your computer opted into the program it created a 'P" partition that allowed it to run.  If you don't need that program then by all mean delete it ... but take care it someone is using that MS Word Starter 2010 or Excel starter 2010.... if you delete that partition I don't think those programs are gonna work so well.

I have read some of the other related threads and have installed and run Ad-aware, TrendMicro online scan, spybot S&D, CWShredder, and finally HijackThis. Using HijackThis I have checked fix O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [farmmext] C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe but it keeps coming back. Any help on what to do to eliminate this and other spyware would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.

Answer:Cannot eliminate farmmext and other spyware

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Ma... Read more

On my Win 7 Pro-32bit PC, am experiencing unusual situation with what I believe has something to do with an executable called securitycentre.exe.

Here are the details:
-a smaller footprint of Firefox insists on running, even after shutting it down in task manager, it automatically restarts
- On C:\SECURE, this folder and a file called SecurityCentre.exe continue to show up after deleting or renaming
- In MSCONFIG, when I turn off the startup of SecurityCentre.exe, it reappears ON after exting and restarting MSCONFIG.
- Am running Kaspersky V6.0, which is reporting some unusual events - am also of the belief that it may have become corrupted as its reporting what I believe are false positives.
- McAfee seems to have some info on this here: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_367123.htm

Answer:SecurityCentre Virus - can't eliminate

Just an update:

- Was able to go into SERVICES.MSC and disable Security Center
- Am not seeing the second, smaller instance of Firefox running in the background since this change
- Also, the C:\SECURE directory is not being recreated after I deleted it
- Checked MSConfig, and SecurityCentre is not "rechecking" itself after unchecking

Am not sure if I fixed this, am worried that it may be another problem. Does anything stick out from the logs?

Thanks.

I use Nero version 6 (OS : XP-pro SP2) to convert mp3 to cda. Generally, it's quite ok. However, some mp3 pieces in cda form, contains vast blank, e.g., say the mp3 number is 6 minutes, and in cda form it plays full for six minutes and then runs blank for several minutes, before the next track starts.

How to correct these gaps during the burn?

I did search for my issue, but all I came up with was about "two seconds gap" between numbers. I understand Nero can eliminate this small gap.
My burnt CDA has several minutes of gap (and not the normal two seconds). This doesn't happen always. So, wondering if it has got to do something with the mp3 quality of particular pieces?

Thanks,

Answer:Mp3 to Cda ... how to eliminate blank between two tracks

Many Mp3's have some dead space at the end so play them and see how many seconds of silence is there. But if you have a large gap of silence that's usually a sign of a corrupted or damaged file.

Get MP3Test and will show you which files are damaged. Also get mpTrim which you can use to trim off dead space and check for bad frame headers.

Another tool you can use is mp3DirectCut which is a wave editor for Mp3 files. You can use it to edit out damaged areas.

I have never used photoshop, or any other type of image manipulating software. I have a picture of my dog that I'd like to make a portrait from, but there is a glare of some kind on both his eyes. It's not really like redeye, his eyes just look like circles of a very light orange color.

I downloaded the free paint.net program, and have read the help instructions, but I can't make heads or tails of them. Can somebody post a step by step way to remove the orange eyes and make them brown? I'm sure it's simple, but I just can't seem to make anything work. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have recently installed a Pop-up Stopper which is 100% effective against new Pop-ups, but one particular Pop-up had embedded itself prior to that installation. On every restart its icon irritatingly appears in my taskbar, on my desktop and in my list of all programs. How can I get rid of it? I am relatively inexperienced so I will need step-by-step instructions.

Answer:Eliminate Pop-up icon on startup

I've been working on a computer that one of my son's friends gave him. Friend said he didn't want it anymore as it had "problems."

The primary cause of the problem was that this friend didn't have any sort of AV program running. I installed NAV and immediately found several hundred infected files, most of which NAV quarantined or deleted.

Other problems were removed with spybot and ad-aware. (Over 222 critical objects found on the first scan with ad-aware!)

But every time I rebooted, IE kept getting hijacked to a website: quertysearch123.biz and this file kept getting added: c:\\documents and settings\administrator\favorites\links\!!!The Best and The Fastest Search Engine.url.

Also the same "!!!The Best and The Fastest Search Engine.url" is added to the documents and settings\default\favorites file.

At this point, I read the Majorgeeks tutorial on deleting spyware. I downloaded all the tools and ran them as instructed. (Although I could not run Housecall or about:Buster in safe mode, ran those two programs in normal mode.)

The tools found additional problems which I attempted to fix, but I still am having some issues:

CWShredder repeatedly reports that it finds cws.msconfd and that it's been "removed" but on subsequent boots, there it is again.

Spybot repeatedly finds coolwwwsearch.msconfd, and I tell it to fix the problem, but it reappears.

I ran hijack this, attempted to delete appInit_dlls:... Read more

Answer:Can't eliminate problem Coolweb? and ??

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

It freeezes and some times it will connect to the internet and sometimes not. He tech at the school says she doesn't know what the problem is. I ran all of the scans and didn't see anything too severe. But since I often don't know what to look for I'm asking you to take a quick look. Any advice or direction is appreciated.

Answer:how to eliminate malware www.123.huo99.com?

yanda, Be aware that a virus and a Trojan are similar, but not the same. Many times, an AV detects one it can't clean, other times, it gets missed entirely. If you need to clean one, Superantispyware (info only. I?m not paid for recommendation. WARNING! FYI, a full scan on mine takes over an hour.) can do the job and you can get it free @:http://www.superantispyware.com/among other places. They have a Vista compatible version if needed. Dunno about Windows 7 or later. If it turns out that you need to use it, be sure to update Superantispyware prior to running. Disable 'restore' after cleaning and run it again (to remove any nasties living there, restart after cleaning) so the nasty doesn't get put back should you later ?restore?. They just released a new update recently and it changes all the time. Things are in a constant state of flux. The restore thing is critical. May not be your deal at all, but won't hurt anything to tryHTH.Ed in Texas.
