win 7 cannot resolve my website url

Question: win 7 cannot resolve my website url

I have 3 PC's in my home office 2 win7 machines and one winxp machine. Neither Win7 machine can resolve my website address with IE8, MS Outlook, Cuteftp or my Live Support Client software. The winxp machine has no problems accessing the website. All machines connect through the same router and all have static local ip addresses.Any pointers would be greatfully accepted.

Preferred Solution: win 7 cannot resolve my website url

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

That site is fine as of now. Their Help Forum has a thread about a server fault that was affecting things on the date you first posted, so your problem may have resolved itself by now.

I use IE8. It is the browser that came with the computer. I try to support MS whenever pssible but it is becoming increasingly difficult.

More and more websites are not displaying properly. It may be a blank space where an ad or video player should be. Or it may be complete non functionality such as trying to listen to a PBS radio show using their website.

I can view and use these specific websites just fine when I am on a public computer (which will use IE7 or IE8), so it is clear there is a problem with my IE8. But what? Is it settings? Is it add-ons?

To try and resolve this I have several times reset IE to it's default settings using Tools->Internet Options->Advanced. No help.

Any ideas what I can do or is it time to move to a different browse? And it will not be IE9 because I am sure the problems will just follow me to that browser.

Answer:Website problems sometimes pages don't resolve

This issue might be because of the server loading. But you need not to be worry about it as it happens sometimes and it will be resolved automatically.

Been trying to get to the opendns website to sign up. The site takes about 5 minutes to load and when it does there is no CSS.

Problem appears to be related to Vista as I can resolve the site on my XP Notebook. I've tried on 3 desktops that have Vista.

This is the only problem and site have a problem with. No other problems with anything or sites since I can remember.

I've done this to try and repair: multiple antivirus scans, malware scans, flush dns, reset ip, reset winsock, reset ipv4 and ipv6 stacks. Deleted history, cache, etc on three different browsers FF 3.6.6, IE 8, Chrome

Searched Google until my eyes hurt. Found a few others with similar problems, but there was no fix. I've read about some the IPv6 issues with Vista, but know enough about that to be dangerous.

Thinking it might be a Vista issue I considered using my free upgrade to Win 7 until I found that a number of my programs are not compatible with Win7 and I would have to purchase upgrades.

I would be eternally grateful if someone can help me resolve this problem.

As always, thank you in advance for your comments.

Turns out to be a modem firewall setting in the new Ubee modem I got from TWC. Not sure why it pertains only to my Vista PC's but it did. Trying to get a better explanation from TWC on this. Just happy that I found the problem. Thanks to all who looked at my issue.

This is weird. I am on Windows XP with Edimax BR 6204Wg. I have 3 devices - 2 laptops and 1 smartphone. 1st laptop and smartphone are connected through WiFi to router and 2nd laptop is connected through LAN to router. Before firmware upgrade i did not try to access this website but after firmware upgrade to latest version:

http://www.edimax.eu/en/support_detail.php?pd_id=11&pl1_id=3#02

i had problems resolving host, pinging, tracerting and accessing website. Sometimes ping works and tracert but i cannot access website and sometimes i can access website but ping and tracert do not work.

I downgraded to previous version and no changes.

If i can no longer access that website through Internet Explorer, i can access it in Firefox. I tried deleting cookies, clearing cache and that seem not make difference. Switching LAN port did not make difference.

I think pulling out LAN helped, renewing IP helped in router. When i disconnect router and connect laptop through LAN to internet modem, everything is normal. I tried resetting router, resetting to factory default settings and all did not help.

At the moment i can access website on laptop connected through LAN from Firefox and Internet Explorer, but on my smartphone i can access website only with Opera but not with built-in browser and Skyfire.

UPDATE: I just could only access with Internet Explorer but not with other browsers on my PC. Minutes later i could access with all browsers. But on smartphone i could only access with... Read more

A workstation on the network had the Locky virus launched on it Monday. I got ThreatTrack on the line to assist with this, and the tech removed several folders, e.g. Windows\temp, and others, and I had a bad feeling about this while he was doing this. I
was told to log on with a different username in safe mode, which is when I gave him access to the machine via team viewer. After he got off the system, name resolution would no longer work. From any browser, I cannot bring up any web pages via a hostname,
but web pages do pull up with the IP. From the command prompt, I cannot ping a hostname because of name resolution problems, but I can ping an IP. Nslookup does work, however. I initially tried "netsh int ip reset", and eventually removed the network
adapter from the device manager and reinstalled it. Nothing worked. I've been searching for an answer on Google, but nothing so far. I also tried "sfc /scannow". All prior system restore dates prior to the infection have been deleted. The DNS client
service is running.
The system in a 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 installation. Does anyone have an idea?

Question: Can't resolve DNS

Hello, I have a PC on my network that is having odd problems. It cannot resolve any external DNS. I can ping any address by IP, but cannot ping by DNS nor can I browse to the website (obviously). I have tried manually changing the DNS the PC uses and have also flushed the DNS on the laptop to no avail. I have ran malewarebytes, and it found 4 infections which I cleaned but it still isn't working correctly.

Has anyone ran into a virus like this?

Followed all the steps for cleaning system. Norton Antivirus keeps popping up saying there's a trojan horse on my system and it was unable to repair the file/access to the file was denied. Spysweeper also picks up some stuff but it says not all was fixed because an item was running in memory. I spent a whole day on trying to fix it. After closing the IE page and starting it up again for a few times it will work by saying connecting to site Webcrawler.com. it does this with any site i use and only one computer does this. i dont do anything, it will just come up.

Answer:IE6 Cant Resolve DNS

Is your network connection DHCP or static? Are your DNS servers supplied by your ISP?

All below from command prompt;

Look at output from ipconfig /all and try pinging your DNS severs.

Try a couple of nslookups for sites you never use www.yahoo.com.... does DNS resolve FQDN to IPaddress?

Try flushing DNS cache, flushdns.

Check Internet Explorer Toools/Internet Options Connection/LAN Settings Proxy Server setting, to see if you are being redirected.

I discovered a HUGE flaw in windows 7, thats really been bugging me since it leaves my computer wide open.

For some reason by default my username and all of the files inside of my user folder are automatically shared. I want to know how to get rid of this ASAP!

I don't use FTP, I don't even use P2P sharing apps, and I don't have multiple computers.

I don't understand why microsoft would have this turned on right after a fresh install. It just makes absolutely no sense since business apps, reports, and portfolios are confidential within a company network.

Since I use 1 PC and its at home, I always use home network. This is the most secure profile? I don't care about sharing files. I wish I could disable this as it leaves ports listening.

Thanks

Even if it shows that they're shared, I have still not found any way to share it without my knowledge. However, you can go to Start>Control Panel>Network & Internet>Homegroup and uncheck all folders.

Hope this helps,

Question: Can't resolve DNS

I live an a resident of hall.
We students here get internet from the router using DHCP. And we even see each other's computer DNS name when online.

I personally have hooked up another computer something like this:
###internet line### -------> ###connects to NIC1 on my computer 1 running Win2k3### --------> with the help of routing and remote I share this internet connection with my other computer lets call it computer 2 which has WinXP.

On computer 1 which is directly connected to the internet socket I can see other computers names and different workgroup's in Network Neighbourhood and even connect to them if I have the password and the username.

On computer 2 which is connected to computer 1 I can only see computer 1 in network neighborhood. Although by typing in IP address I can also connect to other computers in this resident hall. But if a type the DNS name of the computer it will not resolve.

Is it possible that on computer 2 I would also see other computers when I click on network neighborhood or at lest would be able to connect to them by typing in a DNS address.

Answer:Can't resolve DNS

You might want to pick up a budget router and replace computer #1 with it. That will save you a lot of headaches and eliminate the requirement of leaving computer #1 on all the time. Check the router recommendations thread - any of the lower models should fit into a student budget.

Otherwise, it's a problem of passing the DNS server addresses you'd normally get via DHCP. It sounds like you've got routing set up so you could either set up a DNS server on your 2K3 box and point the "forwarders" to your school's DNS servers or you could just manually fill in the DNS servers on computer #2 with the ones you get on computer #1 from DHCP.

Hi guys!I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section but I have a problem that may need your expert advise..To start off, my hidden files won't show even when i had them checked in the folder options..I also tried changing some values in regedit, as suggested in other forums, but it still reverts back to its original value.. Being desperate, I also tried a clean install of my windows XP, reformatted my partition drive, but still my folder options won't work..It all started when I inserted my friend's USB flashdisk to transfer some files.. My Norton Internet Security 2008 blocked what seems like a virus named Bloodhound.Packed.Jmp... Then a message from Norton popped-up saying "0ajq.cmd has changed your windows startup settings".. So I went to msconfig to check my startup programs and found "kxvo.exe" located in C:\Windows\system32\kxvo.exe.. Problem is, this exe file is a hidden file, which is a problem 'cause I can't access my hidden files..Is this Malware I'm dealing with?..I tried the steps mentioned in another topic, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/140416/wont-show-hidden-files-and-folders/ , and I have a copy of the results for you to analyze.. Should I post them here?B

Since you just reinstalled your OS clean, do you have any idea what is reinfecting you? It would be a waste of time to try to clean up your system if you just reinfected it again.

Hi,

I'm having some problems in XP with dns resolving. It seems it can't connect to www websites anymore.

I can connect if I type a website's IP address though. So the internet is working. Also my lan is working and on the same computer on Win7 I can connect of course. So its something to do with XP.
nslookup works too. But ping a www address doesn't.

Anyway I can solve this?
Thanks.

Hi,

I'm a complete novice at technical stuff, so I need some hand-holding and patience. A reader of my website has recently informed me that my "website contains an "HTTP Malicious Javascript Encoder" from brasilianstoree.info. It was blocked by our systems, but it is very nasty and could harm others."

I also discovered today that when my website loaded, it was redirected to AskLots.com, and I think this may be part of the problem. I also think my ftp server was compromised due to an error with WordPress. I was getting a WordPress admin error that my wp-content/backup-db file might be visible to the public, and so it took me a while, but I found the solution to fix that. Having said all this, I'm still getting the site re-direction to AskLots.com. I've run AVG full scan, SpyBot, MalwareBytes, etc., etc., etc., but nothing is found. I've even searched my ftp files for "aff.php" after reading another forum's discussion about the same thing, but it found nothing. I just now downloaded and run Hijack This, and here is my log:

Answer:Website has been hacked by a HTTP Malicious Javascript Encoder, Website redirection

The HIJACKTHIS output from your machine most likely has nothing to do with this problem. There is no virus, your site has been hacked. The "infection" is on the webserver.

WordPress has exploits discovered every couple months, and if I assume correctly, you have not been updating it when a new version comes out. The hackers have used one of the exploits to upload a .asp script or something similar which then edited your page, causing the redirects. Obviously, I (nor anyone else here) can be 100% sure what the problem is without further information.

Your best bet is to install the newest version of wordpress, use some "wordpress-hardening" guides that are out there to make it less susceptible to hackers, and then convert and migrate your existing database to the newest version if it can be salvaged.

To whom it may concern:My comp has been acting strange for several weeks now. Windows date and time are messed up and refuse to stay corrected when i do fix them. The time and date are always correct but the year constantly reverts back to 2005 after i continuously change it to 2008. Because of this many different websites are not compatible with my IE because they have date sensitive certificates and my IE doesn't like them. I get asked about 5 times per site if it is okay to proceed and it is very annoying. Also I cannot do any online banking because the transactions are date sensitive. Is this a virus/trojan/bug/etc? or is this a hardware issue. My problem sounds very much like a post by Pinky Smalls at this link. I followed his/her protocol and still have had no luck clearing the issue. I tried synchronizing with internet time, but it keeps giving me and error that it is unable to connect. I have already tried replacing my motherboard battery with no help. Perhaps its time for a new mobo? or do you think it is a virus? I'd rather not end up like this guy once i put a new mobo in and infect that one too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. -dodsong

I have a website that I made with Front Page 2000.

What I need now is a free website hosting site that supports Front Page extensions.

Also the hosting site must not add add banners to my site/pages. Or at least the banner should be as small as possible at the top of the page.

I have been searching different hosting sites, but most do NOT support Front Page extensions on their servers.:dead:

I need to find a free hosting service that supports FP 2000 extensions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have saved the website http://www.j-archive.com/listseasons.php onto my computer so I can view it offline (I do not have internet access except for when I am at the library). However, the webpage search engine (right next to the help bar on the top of the screen) does not work offline. Is there a way to save the webpage and have the in website search engine still work?

Thank you very much.

Links to websites, either from emails or from shortcuts pinned to my PC desktop's task-bar have suddenly been directed to Google Chromes search page. There are four icons pinned to the task-bar that work;Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Google Earth and Windows Live Mail all of the rest, such as Facebook, Ancerstry.com YouTube and others now default to the Google Chrome search page.

I have run numerous anti-virus scans all of which have not picked up anything sinister.

The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. I am not a IT tecky but should be able to follow straight forward instruction, if anyone has any ideas on this problem.

Answer:email website links and taskbar pin website defaulting to Chrome

Hello Bill, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you like, you could use step 4 in the tutorial below to set the browser you want to be the default for all its supported file type associations that should sort this for you.

Hi folks,

I started having this problem sometime in the latter part of 2014. While reading my medical journals and moving on to the next article, the fbi website pops up and supplants my medical journal website. I have to close and log in to my medical website all over again. Sometimes, even that does not work and I cannot get back to my original website anymore on that day. It happens to my PC laptop, my wife's Macbook and even a brand new Macbook Air that I tried out. For some strange reason, it only happens at home on all 3 computers. I don't get this problem reading my Journals in the Hospital where I work. Interestingly, when I go to the park away from my house and activate the mobile hotspot on my handphone and do my journal reading there, it does not happen.( not yet anyway).
I would like to attach a picture of the fbi website for you but I don't see any paperclip icon on the toolbar.

I would really appreciate any help anyone can provide on this matter.

Thank you

Hi.

Went around to a relatives last night to get their internet installed. They had AOL so I got that up and running but I hate AOL so told them I'd get them on Wanadoo which I've used for years.

AOL worked fine, and you could browse the web with their crap browser and many pop ups and crap. Got to Wanadoo, signed up, changed the internet connection info fine. Dialled up and connected to their server fine. Outlook Express worked fine and received an email. But Internet Explorer wouldn't work.

Kept trying to connect to Google but failing with messages like unable to connect to webpage or words to that effect. In the task bar I saw a long message which I've seen before on my PCs over the years. And I'm now 95% sure it was a DNSERROR.

As I said I remember having this myself many years ago but can't remember how to resolve it.

Can anyone offer some advice?

Cheers

Neil

Answer:How to resolve DNS Error?

These types of errors, where you can initially connect to the ISP and receive e-mail and even ust FTP but not the browser are usually due to corrupted Winsock stacks.

The fix depends somewhat on whether you are talking about XP or Win98.

For XP, see this page:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/winsock.htm

For Win98 or WinME most people would need to follow the instructions here. Bear in mind an operating system CD is needed or cabinet files on the hard drive.

http://kb.earthlink.net/case.asp?article=21189

Alternately Bob Cereli's method will do the same thing and may be easier in some cases:

I believe this is an easy one for you all, is there a way to plug in a username to find the ip address on the network, we are running DNS and I would like to find the ip address's easily if I don't have the users computer name or don't want to spend 15 minutes trying to explain to a user how to use ipconfig, can't this be done using NSLOOKUP?? Thanks. Btw I am running XP on a 2000 Server domain.

Answer:Resolve ip by username

I think you could use the admin tools (Computer Management -> Shared Folders) to monitor connections to a server by username (if everybody is logged on to a fileshare server) and get comp name (thereby IP) from that, but user names aren't any part of IP / DNS / etc.

Hello there,

I have a domain registered with a registrar who provides the primary and secondary DNS. Since Friday, I am unable to access my website which has been publishing fine for the past 6 years via IIS behind ISA. When I try to open the registrar website, I cannot reach it either.

Could anyone help me confirm that this is a problem related to the registrar please?

My domain: courierworld.com
My DNS: ns.nameserverweb.com and ns2.nameserverweb.com
My registrar: www.techsupport-web.com

I did a>>> nslookup -q=any courierworld.com 8.8.4.4
Result: DNS request timed out

If it is indeed a registrar problem, what can I do to resolve this please? Thanks!

Answer:Cannot resolve IP for domain name

i cannot reach the website - so i would discuss with the hosting company

I had a program called resolve that I could run that would tell me where a command would be executed from. For instance, if I entered

resolve xcopy

It would respond with

C:\Windows\System32\xcopy.exe

This program doesn't work in X64. Anyone know of a replacement?

The Start menu Search can help with this some but not enough.

Answer:Resolve program for Win 7 X64

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I use "everything" for that;

Everything Search Engine

I run it at start up and keep it open in the taskbar. It will instantly find the path to anything you type in and also allow you to work on the results with a context menu.

When I leave my computer for about an hour or so, and I come back and try to get on line via my DSL connection, the browser loads but I get the little message that it can't resolve the host--(Google is my home page). I am forced to restart Windows XP, and afterwards everything works fine---So this seems to happen over time when the computer is not active. I have a DSL line----By the way, I tried turning off all screen savers and power settings so the machine is always on--This didn't help--Has anyone experienced this. Is there a fix

My PC keeps getting an IP address of 169.254.198.255. It is unable to renew the IP address. When I a valid static IP address and DNS I can only ping the IP but cannot ping the name. When it comes back to DHCP it becomes unreachable when I ping it. It's not the DHCP server cause everyone else works. Already tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers with the same result. Tried a different network card but it still doesn't work. Tried repairing the OS but that didn't work either. Could this be spyware related? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Neither machine can see the other in "My Network Places" but if

Both machines are in the same workgroup and have unique names.

If I do "ipconfig" on them, one machine has a node type of

I thought this would just work by "name".

I have Netbios over TCP/IP enabled on both.

Goood morning/afternood all,

I am having some trouble with my laptop. It's running Windows Vista Home edition. The computer can get an ip address, it can search the net but via IP only. If I type google.com, it can't find the IP for it. Also, it can't ping websites, but it can ping IP. So it seems like a DNS issue but what kind? I have never encountered this before and I am lost.

The DNS service is started, I have done ipconfig /flushdns & registerdns, when doing registerdns it says failed. nslookup works when doing either hostname or IP, but I can't access anything with the hostname, just IP

Hope someone can help, I have tons of **** to do on this laptop and am completely lost!

Thank you much,

Hi, in your example, it seems Edge is downloading something.
Do you know what?
If this is immediately after you have reset your system, I'm wondering why Edge would be downloading sthg.

If you can't resolve that, what happens to your CPU usage if you disconnect your internet completely, so it can't?
Please post a similar screenshot with it disconnected.

If CPU use is still high, please try in Safe Mode with and without networking for reference.

Assuming your Smartphone App accesses any home appliance via REMOTE.WHATEVER.COM - whenever you are abroad it is resolved by a public nameserver (and a route forwards the request from outside to the actual private e.g. 192.168.0.99 .

However, once at home in your LAN how can you make REMOTE.WHATEVER.COM resolved into your private IP (192.168.0.99)? I don't want to setup a DNS Server JUST for this. I checked some routers but did not find they provide a feature as needed.

Maybe there is another completely different solution ..?

Thanks - Reiny

So I have a little bit of a problem. I run a couple web sites with a LOT of data stored on them for one of my old time favorite games, but recently I've noticed that I've been getting hit with a LOT of request from certain hosts. Now this wouldn't be much of a problem, but some of these host are downloading 100+ GB of data from one of the sites that only has ~50GB of data to download.

So I tried to resolve the host name to an IP, so I can just ban it from my server altogether, but strangely enough I can't get it to resolve to an IP.

This is the hostname: x173.bbn2-009.lipetsk.ru

This is the site I usually use to resolve host names and to get information on it.

http://network-tools.com/

It turns up nothing, so I did a look up on the lipetsk.ru hostname and concluded that its IP was that of a 195.x.x.x number, so I seen that the owner of that IP also owns 195.255.255.255, so I banned that entire range from my server.

Does that seem strange to anyone?

Answer:Hostname not resolve to an IP...

Just look at your webserver logs to find the IP. I've never had to resolve a name to block someone.

Hello to all,
Thank you for any responders. CCleaner says there is a file F:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX\$RH2BEES.ashbak, and it can not erase it. I tried Windows Disk Cleaner, turned off hidden files and protected files and located it. It would not delete. It is a log file from Ashampoo Burning Studio 9 which is on my computer, but not used in a few months. I have no current ABS9 backup files on my computer. CCleaner gets locked onto it and sits, until I cancel out.
Does anyone have any idea of how to rid myself of this inconvenience, without resorting to power tools. Would appreciate all ideas.

I have two domain names. They are both forwarded to the same IP. One works for me, both work for other people.

I checked my windows hosts file, it's not there.
I tried using IE and FF, both fail to resolve.

(It's apparently using the Old IP for the domain name, on my PC only.)
How can I fix this?

Thanks.

Answer:Cannot resolve my domain

Are you by chance resolving without www. and other people are? I made that mistake before. I changed the IP for the www subdomain. but forgot to change the actual domain's IP so when I was doing nslookup on the domain it went to the wrong IP yet typing www.domain.com in the browser worked fine.

It could also be that your ISP's DNS did not propagate yet.

I have a Linksys Wireless router with 2 computers on the network. There names are Computer 1 and Computer 2. I have a shared directory on Computer 1 and can map the drive and access it. Both computers are on workgroup HOME. Computer 2 has a shared directory and can be accessed and mapped.

However, Computer 1 will see Computer 2 but cant browse on it, Computer 2 doesnt see Computer 1 at all. I cant get this to work for any reason. Both are connected to the internet via 3mb Cable w/ Linksys Wireless Router.

Both machines have WinXP SP2 with AVG, ZA and SpySweeper. Have tried disabling firewall & AV but still nothing.

Is there any suggestions for this so I can get these drives mapped and accessible?

I'm not sure if here is the right place to post this. If it's not, I apologize.

For the past week or so, the wireless connection I use has been acting up on me. It'll say that I'm connected to the web, but it won't allow me to view any web pages, no matter what browser I use, and refuses to connect to MSN. I've gone through the troubleshooting process with MSN,and it told me two things were wrong

a. "Your DNS appears unable to resolve IP address."
b. Something about Key Ports.

and then:

"Failed to connect to the service. This could be due to improper proxy or firewall settings. Please review your proxy and firewall settings.Proxy settings can be accessed through Windows Live Messenger Options. For Firewall settings, please see the retailer's instructions."

I've checked and rechecked my firewall settings various times, and even turned the entire thing off.. and it's still not letting me connect.

I've done a little research and found a few other sites and forums where people talked about having the same issue, and sometimes, it was solved by resetting the router.. but that's a little out of the question for me, since the wireless connection I've been using is actually my neighbor's. Understandable if you can't help out because of the "stolen" connection, but hopefully you can. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

. I recently bought a new VAIO laptop. The new VGN-TT16GN. It was running Vista and with only 2GIG of ram, I found it very sluggish. It came with a Windows XP Professional SP3 install disc for those that wanted to ?roll back? . Despite the fact that the disc did warn that ?this product will remove the Vita recovery partition from the hard drive?, I stupidly thought I could just install XP rolling back from VISTA, and didn?t follow the instructions (like creating a recovery media). Thus I now have a laptop with sweet FA on it?! It looks like I?ve lost most of the drivers, utilities, programs etc. I suppose the good news is that I can do a clean install, without all the extra useless rubbish! I have a 500GIG portable hard drive so I can take anything I want from my old laptop or my PC.Any advice would be appreciated

Answer:how do I resolve this problem?

Expensive mistake.I would simply buy a copy of Vista and write it off to experience. Secondly, upgrade your memory to a max of 4GBReasons: (1) you will have a full copy of Vista and (2) you will still have your roll-back disc should you wish to use it

Answer:Unable to resolve DNS after LSP Fix!

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it ... Read more

So I got 4 user accounts on my pc but I want to be only signed in to 1 acc max.

So say I'm logged in to acc "Gamer" and want to log out and log in to acc "Webmaster".

I'm unable to do so. I'm signed in to Webmaster AND Gamer. Consuming thus alot more pc resources for no reason...

When I log out of Gamer it auto logs me in again.

I know that its probably cause Windows 10 does multiple desktops a difff way but maybe there is an app or work around?

Answer:How to resolve not being able to log out and sign in to an other acc

Right click on the start icon. Then select Shut Down or Sign Out, then Sign Out.

I am having a problem logging out of a site. It started when i was being logged out every time i moved from one area of the site to another. As fast as i logged in, i was logged out!!  As finances are involved the risk is pretty high should anyone manage to get into my computer and start fooling around. I stupidly clicked the 'remember me' box which while it didn't stop the logging out entirely it was very easy to get back in! NOW i cannot reverse the situation as the tick has total disappeared from the 'remember me box'!

I have contacted the site administration who are looking into it but they cannot find anything wrong at their end nor can they reverse my instructions to be remembered.
Various updates and scans that have been done including a full HDD scan,  I checked the DNS ..ok. My profile has been updated and i have tried to cancel this thing out from the security section in the Control Panel all to no avail.

Here are logs as requested.

Dear Tech Support! Don't you think that the problem isn't sold? I get same errors, I can't run almost everything, it's always 0xc000007b ! Google search gave no useful results. I scaned my system with a new up-to-date Nod32. I've installed my Windows XP Pro + SP2 (edition) just now, so there can't be no restore point or some wrong step I've taken. How can I solve the problem?

I assume you just want it to resolve locally and not on the internet. You can edit this file on your machine. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS

I believe you can set that with the Power Toys in TweakUI. Or just go into Control Panel > User Accounts. Check the box that says Users must enter a username and password to use this computer. Then click Apply. Then uncheck the box and click apply. It will then ask you who you want to AutoLogin.

As the title says, I'm having a lot of trouble particularly with the BC irc server, wyldryde.

It was working fine before, and all of a sudden it can't resolve the server "irc.wyldryde.org" Port 6667, and I've tried several other variations of the name, and I recently pinged it, and it redirects me to myself at 127.0.0.1

EDIT: I've tried other servers, and they work fine. I'm thinking maybe the server's down...hopefully that explains everything.

Answer:Cannot Resolve Bc Irc Server

Since I can't figure out how to delete this thread, I'm going to just say that I resolved the issue, after 4 hours. Last thing I checked was the wyldryde website, and told me that most of the servers were down, but I found one close when that was up, and it connected beautifully. Sorry for this, you may delete this thread.

Hi and welcome to TSG,

Click here and then scroll down to and click on hijackthis self installer to download HJTsetup.exe

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Well, I built a computer specifically to run FSX well in March. Just recently, it's started to chuck out random BSODs with random BCCodes, but generally the same file was the main problem, ntoskrnl.exe.

The only changes I've made to the system recently before it started happening is upgrading my NVIDIA drivers, and installing PMDG's 737NGX. I reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers just in case, but no luck.

Thought it could be a virus, but AVG says no. Then I did a little Googling and it said that the antivirus could be a problem, so that's been uninstalled as well. Frankly I'm at a loss, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

My system details:
-Retail Windows 7 Ultimate x64
-Hardware is only about 6 months old

Answer:Can't resolve this BSOD, need some help.

Wasn't really getting anywhere with this on the first 4 or so minidumps, they were identical and rather vague.
Then I found the one coded here.
This error commonly points to a actual hardware issue it's pretty rare for it to be caused by anything else, with the exception of a overclock that has become unstable. ...and this sometimes happens over time that a overclock will lose stability either because of wear on components or changes in the system.

Nothing here looks viral to me, ...even the aforementioned vague minidumps don't seem viral in nature.

Not too mention this one specific bugcheck doesn't get generated by a whole lot of things.

My internet was working fine and then I think I contracted a virus because now, my desktop will not go online. I am currently using windows xp service pack3, I have AVG anti virus protection, Firewall plus installed, I have run scans and have logs from malware bytes, superantispyware and Hijack this.  I also have two laptops that use the same at&t wireless connection without any problems.  I was on the phone with at&t for at least 3 hours today trying everything under the sun with no resolution.  I only use IE8 and it simply says Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.  I could use a fresh perspective

Answer:At&t could not resolve my issue, can you?

1. So I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64 and the computer does not resolve some sites... Although my router does. When I try to open them with Firefox the HDD starts working and never stops.

2. Recently I downloaded something from the internet and although it went to the Chest of Avast my computer started to run quite slow.

What I've done till now:
Avast in Windows safe mode
Avast boot scan

Both found some stuff and hopefully deleted. I will run Avast boot scan again now.

What to do next?

Hi forum users I have a few W7 problems . . .

Auto disc play doesn't work now as of last week after using Ccleaner.
I have backups of the registry files before Ccleaner was used but not sure if this a registry problem.
Can't use recovery, I get errors saying: An unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x80070005)
Recovery hasn't been adding restore points for 10 months? Undo restore also fails.
Mozilla takes 30-40 seconds to come up after clicking on the shortcut in taskbar.
Have noticed screen grabs and stutter in fps games (BC2), have the latest gfx drivers and installed other previously used drivers.
Have tried to do windows repair from a tut in these forums and get an error saying I can't upgrade due to having a later copy of windows 7 than the upgrade.
Have tried sfc /scannow and have no errors.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't really want to format.

Hello, I've been trying to solve the following issue for days and tried different forums but can't seem to make progress. Please help me find a solution.

Issue:

I recently formatted the main drive and have been getting BS errors ever since. Lately, I noticed that the BSOD almost always happen when the PC is "waking up" from inactivity.

My setup:

My PC is this one: http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/10...15229Rnv.shtml and the operating system is 32-b Vista.

I recently installed Sapphire's Radeon HD 4890 and a 700w PSU just prior to formatting.

I've attached the dump files. Please, someone help me find a solution. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I've tried all the browsers, Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, Chrome, and IE but zero of them will resolve the address bar. Interestingly though as long as I input the IP# directly, many times the browser (IE) will throw up the server or page for viewing. If I go to a DOS prompt and do an NSLOOKUP then get the IP that's the only way the browser works. Help. It's happening on an Acer Aspire1 netbook that I've had for years. It's a great little piece but I'm somehow locked out of the web. Yeah, the wireless or CAT5 connection both yield the same result and it's always been a problem since right out of the box a few years back, this little laptop has never loaded web pages. There has to be some setting I'm overlooking or some way to tweak the DNS info.

First I just want to thank the users of this forum and it's moderators for giving help to those who need it. I hope I can find assistance as many others have in the past. I have ran Housecall, AntiVir, Spybot S&D, Trojanhunter4, Norton Antivirus, CW Shredder... basically everything that has been suggested on the forum to run or DL I have tried. Unfortunately I still have a problem. A subseven trojan was discovered on my system with Trojanhunter4 and it was removed, however I am still having problems on my machine. Basically I have a bandwidth of 1mb per sec however when I try to dl anything be it webpages, updates, software, etc. I am only getting 100 bytes per sec. I ran Hijack this and this is the log...any help is much appreciated... thanks

Answer:Unable to resolve w/o help

Welcome to TSF.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro. Make sure to select the Autoclean option. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manag... Read more

My system specifications are as follows: Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10 ghz processor, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, IPMSB-H61 Motherboard, 500 GB SATA H.D.D, DVD-RW O.D.D. My problem is related to 3 GB memory limit in windows 32 bit Operating System. My ram is reported as 4 GB in the CMOS Setup and Windows System Information. Windows XP 32 Bit and Windows 7 32 Bit uses only 2.95 GB of RAM.

The following are my questions:

1) Can I install a 64 Bit Operating System in my system? If yes, will the Operating System use my total System Memory?

2) Are 64 Bit drivers available for my motherboard?

3) Can I run 32 Bit applications on a 64 Bit Operating System?

Please help ....

Thanks in advance

Answer:How can I resolve my problem?

64-bit computing on Intel? architecture requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, operating system, device drivers and applications enabled for Intel? 64 architecture. Check your motherboard documentation to see if it is 64 bit.
If your computer is 64 bit then you can install a 64 bit version of Windows (XP drivers are harder to find then Vista or 7) 64 bit OS will recognize all the RAM in your computer(up to the motherboard specifications). It will also run most 32 bit applications. There is no upgrade to 64 bit, you have to wipe your drive and install a fresh copy of Windows 64 bit. So backup your data first.

I've got a wierd problem... I know there is in fact no viruses or spyware/hijacks of anykind because I just did a complete format because of a virus I had and no longer have. Anyways to the point...

MSN Messenger I tried using the old v4.7 to login... it just saying logging in... go for 5mins then just goes back to the original screen when I gotta login again. I have the Windows 8 Consumer build 8250 installed on my Toshiba NETBOOK. Everything is all dandy except certain features on certin websites.
I am unable to actually upload pictures to flickr. Like when I click the "Choose files to upload" nothing happens, no box allowing me to choose the files in explorer appears and nothing happens. I have tired with adblock on and adblock off and it makes no difference. Also when trying to play games within facebook. The games do not load or nothing appears.
Its like as if the adblock is on but there is no adblock on. When right clicking it shows that the flash plugin/extension is running but not the product. This only started when i installed windows 8 consumer. The developer build did not have the issue. I also have tried Chrome, Firefox, and Internet explorer and all errors/issues are reproduced.
Anyone have any ideas?

Here is the MSDN Social issue i posted in they're forums.

I went to Network & Sharing expecting to get a network map, but Windows 10 says I have no internet connection

Attachment 72918
"You are not connected to any networks"
How can that be?

Note, my original network connection was modified by the installation of Hyper-V, in ways I may not fully understand, but the internet works (using it now).

Whilst it would be nice for Windows to report that I have and am using one, it's more important to me that I get a network map.

Answer:Win10 says I have no network? How to resolve and see map?

The map went away with Windows 8. They found that no one was really using it.

If you have devices on the network, they should show in Devices and Printers if DLNA. If anything else, there are third party tools out there for network admin LAN mapping.

Hello,

This is my 2nd thread relating to this issue. I seem to be getting the run around with this issue and a resolution would be much apreciated if possible.

For weeks now I have been getting BSOD issues and it has become more frequent lately. I have tried every fix I can think of hardware related, such as; memtest86 and everything checks out okay, Hard Drive test from the BIOS which reports no errors, I have a Evga GTX 460 and removed that and ran from OEM graphics which it still gave out, I tried using only 1 monitor (I have a dual display), I have tried a different keyboard, I have reseated the RAM. I have also tried several software fixes, such as driver updates. I ran every update from the HP.com site relating to my model (P6540Y), this included the BIOS, ralink wireless, realtek network, RAID, Logmein, I have ran the driver veifier utility (suggestion from other thread, which I still don't understand the purpose), lastly I completed reformated the computer to a fresh copy. Any suggestions please!!!

I am running OEM Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and have had several crashes in the last few days. Can anyone help in reviewing the dump files? The carsh this morning occurred while paging through web mail. Most seem to indicate that tdx.sys is causing the problem.

System specs were saved to the file 'System Specs.txt' in the attached zip file.

Answer:BSOD in Windows 7 - How do I resolve

It looks like your BSOD is caused by your AntiVirus
Avast.
Go to their website and use the uninstall tool to remove completely.
Then replace with microsoft security essentials.

4. Updated BIOS
5. Reloaded Intel Chipset drivers
6. Reloaded LAN drivers

I'm giving a friend's computer a complete shakedown in an effort to solve some various issues that keep popping up, and ensure it's completely clean so I'm not back here next month. I've already run the typical full array of scans- just trying to see if I'm missing anything...

Answer:Trying to resolve intermittent problem

Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums. Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again. Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Please post the contents of log.txt. Thank you for your patience. Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem. If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped. Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so.
