My genuine HP W7 failed MSE validation check

Question: My genuine HP W7 failed MSE validation check

I have a genuine Windows 7 OS on my HP Desktop, few months its keep on informing that it has genuine window 7 installed, it was downloading Windows security essentials very well, suddenly one fine morning it stated that windows did not pass genuine validation. Now it is stating that resolve the problem or it will stop downloading the security essentials. How to fix this problem, when I have purchased the system from a very reputed HP Dealer.

Relevance 100%
Preferred Solution: My genuine HP W7 failed MSE validation check

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: My genuine HP W7 failed MSE validation check

call the dealer or call MS..or you could do a full factory restore from the hidden partition, setting your machine to the day you bought it,this should negate any changes you have made or files getting damaged, of course you should save all your files and settings first.i hate computers!but cant help myself....

Thanks to this forum I was able to remove Trojan.Pandex but now I can't validate XP. Microsoft web site has a list of solutions but none have worked.I get the following info from their site after attempting to validate. This copy of Windows did not pass genuine validation because the validation process could not be completed. There are several possible causes:Your system level security settings prevented validation from running. Your user account may not have the correct permissions necessary to run validation. Your system settings have been modified in one of the following ways: Security software may have been installed that inadvertently altered your Windows product ID. The validation controls you used were downloaded from a site other than the Microsoft site. You chose to run the validation controls in an alternate compatibility mode. Option 1: Follow steps in Microsoft Knowledge Base article and run validation againMost customers who receive this error are able to resolve the problem by following the resolution steps found in Microsoft Knowledge Base article # 822798 and then running the validation again. Option 2: Install the latest Windows Genuine Advantage NotificationsIf this error still occurs, we recommend that you log in as an Administrator and install the latest version of Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications. [0x80080205] Anyone have a clue how to fix this??Ken

Just tried to download something from Msoft they asked to do the Genuine software check.1. failed due to using Firefox not compatile.2. download a check sofware as requested again failed be able to verify3. asked to download a legit check file which when run asks for COA.4. Read COA of rear of PC and entered, it failed!5. Run Belarc, pulled Product key from that, different product key but this is sometimes normal when purchasing from large company with HDD copying (Medion). Enter this product key, it too failed the check! So now cannot download updates etc. because Msoft think I have pirated copy of XP Home.Anyone else fell foul of this problem?

Answer:Microsoft Genuine Check Failed.

I just tried to run Windows Validation and recieved the following message:

Quote:

Validation Failure: Product Key Failed Validation

2 years ago, I purchased WinXP Home at a retail outlet and have been using it since then. Unfortunately, I lost the original disk, and have installed XP on my machine from another disk.

But I used my original Product Code when installing it. The code really is mine, and I am looking at it right now.

In another forum, someone told me that all XP disks are the same; that it didn't matter which disk you used to actually install the O/S, that what really mattered was whether the Product Key Code was legitimate or not. In short, there is no connection between the disk that you purchase and the code that comes with it. The disks are "generic" and interchangable, and there would be no problem with using any disk as long as the Product Key Code was legitimate.

Given that, why is my machine failing the Microsoft Validation, and what can be done about it ?

Thanks in advance,

George.

I've had Vista for 3 years now but due to installer issues, had to do a re-install.

The problem is I have a black desktop and a message saying it is not genuine,

I have tried the link support.microsoft.com/pag where I get directed to a download a validation tool.

I run the app and I get a quick flash of a screen, saying this may take a few moments, and it disappears.

Anything else I can do?

Hi,Can anyone explain why my genuine copy of XP Pro.wili pass windows update validation.Which allows me to download software from the site, but when I try to install the software I am informed that I may be guilty of running pirated software. This problem as only occured since I ran a system optimiser which I was assured by the computer specialist would not remove any windows components.Although this seems to the cause of the problem. Please help!!! as a silver haired surfer, windows help files are somewhat convoluted to say the least.Wurzel

Answer:Genuine Xp Validation Problem

"would not remove any windows components. Although this seems to the cause of the problem."So let's assume that is the case. Now run a Windows repair: ? Click Start; Run. ? In the Run box, type cmd.exe to open the command prompt window.? At the prompt, type sfc.exe /scannow? Press ENTER. If Windows finds problems with the system files, you will be prompted to insert your Windows XP installation CD to restore the files. If no problems are found and the scan finishes, type exit and press ENTER.

OK, THIS is new...

I got up this morning, found the password page to my computer up, which was weird, but I thought maybe a power failure that didn't set the UPC alarm off---so I put in my password and it says that I am NOT running Genuine Windows, which should come as quite a shock to Microsoft since this is the program they sent me on DVD as an upgrade from Vista that I purchased at New Egg. It hasn't shut anything down, and it doesn't show any other signs of not being Genuine, I was able to download "Genuine Only Downloads" at Microsoft, but it does bother me that screen came up saying I was not running Genuine Windows. Any ideas??

Hi Wombat_38,

Yes, you have to look for the link elsewhere in the webpage (perhaps after you click on Continue). To help yourself, use the Find in This Page function pull-down from the browser menu pull-down Edit and type in alternate - it will help you locate the link for alternate validation.

I bought a genuine copy of Windows 7 64 bit, I know this for sure, 100%. It was bought from Amazon (actual amazon, not a 3rd party using amazon) and has all the correct holography.

I have been using it for a while on a different pc, however, after some hardware issues, replaced various bits of hardware and after MANY reinstalls later, I manage to get windows working properly, I finally have a pc that doesn't have any hardware faults, although now windows tells me:

The product key you entered can't be used to activate windows.

What is the meaning of this? I bought a genuine copy of windows so that this doesn't happen.

Can someone please assist.

Answer:Genuine product key not accepted for validation

Probably a phone call to Microsoft to get it activated will get it sorted out for you. It's likely just the fact that it was recently put on a machine and now being moved. MS systems would see this as you installed it and gave it to a friend a week later.

Hi
My friend has given me his old dell laptop as he hasn't used it for a couple of years, and it appears to have had a different version of xp installed on it.
It is a dell inspiron 630m with a coe for windows xp home edition on the bottom, but appears to be running windows xp professional and this means that he has got the windows genuine validation message nagging him all the time.
He obviously had a genuine version installed originally, is it easy to uninstall xp pro and restore the original operating system and get rid of the validation nag screen.
I have my own genuine xp cd which I could use if needed, but I dont really want to format the drive as I will then have to try and find all the drivers and will lose the original software installed.
Thank you

Answer:Windows XP Genuine Validation - reinstall OS

Yes as you have the number on the sticker
I dont really want to format the drive as I will then have to try and find all the drivers and will lose the original software installed.
the pro and home XP drivers are exactly the same so just back up the drivers to another source before you start. driver backup software
Unfortunately you will need to reinstall any programs.

Hi

Despite my ASUS notebook having the original WIN7 product key sticker on the bottom of it, I keep getting validation failure mesage.

I presume its because I did a hard drive replacement 3 months ago, but my recovery DVD's did not work ( just got stuck halfway through the installation despite me leaving it installing overnight ) when I re-installed Win 7, so I used a genuine win7 disk previously received with a different new PC. I used the right product code ( the one on the sticker on my notebook ) & all went ok.

Now I keep getting the validation failure message & re-inputting the code continues to give a failure message after it tries to validate. If anyone thinks there is a chance this can be resolved without me having to completely re-install I'll send through the MGSdiag report with a new post.

Help appreciated

Cheers
Mike

Answer:Genuine Windows validation failure

I should also mention that the windows 7 disk I used for the re-instal was an original ASUS Recovery Media, just not issued with the Notebook in question ( its from 2009 ). I would have thought that this should be ok for any ASUS product. No ?

Firmly I would like to know how the validation plays a role if I am activating windows and once I disconnect the network, I am then able to install media player 11 which requires a validation.

I've tried to find the answers all over but it's time to ask the [H] crew ! Thanks for your time.

Answer:XP Activation / Passing Genuine Validation

Doesn't WPA allow you to activate a few times before it forces you to call the Microsoft mothership? So in theory you could install it on three or four PCs before you get in trouble.. allthough that would be illegal.

Speaking of virtual machines - what are Microsofts licensing terms for virtual machines? I mean, if I create two virtual machines on my PC and install XP on both of them, in addition to running XP on the "real" system - does this count as one physical PC, two (one for the "real" pc and one for the virtual machines) or does it count as three separate physical computers?

Seems this is a common problem. Tried several things, and tried MS support, to no avail. Figure I should ask before I just start over with the original image I burned.

I bought an Asus G73 laptop from Best Buy roughly 1 1/2 years ago. In the past 2 months, Windows has yelled at me for not having a genuine copy (which I do). Starting off:

Any thoughts as to whether this is an advantage? I have genuine Windows XP Home and appear to have downloaded their unremovable update. However, now when I want to use Express update it asks me to Validate, then Internet Explorer asks me if I want to download the Microsoft Software, whilst warning me about downloading Axtivex Control Software!! This is when panic sets in and I don't do anything1Question will I still get urgent updates via Automatic Updates without doing the above??Clock

Answer:Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool

You don't have to panic, the ActiveX is a small bit of software microsofts installs to help validate your copy of windows, if as you say it's genuine then you won't have any problems and you will need to follow through (it's quite painless) in order to get your updates.

I?m really curious why companies try to enforce DRM like protections into their products even though they should know that this is on a large scale only affecting the customers who actually purchase their products. This is in my opinion counter productive, but lets analyze this a little bit further.
Users who purchase Microsoft Windows have to activate and update it. Users who download it from P2P get it activated and with the latest updates installed. What?s wrong with this picture ? Oh yes, the first batch of users who actually paid for the product are having a less comfortable version.
They have to activate the system and will have to do it again if they change important hardware in the system. They have to use Windows Updates to update their system after the purchase as well.
A new crack for WGA - Windows Genuine Advantage - was released two days ago. The release is called Windows.Genuine.Advantage.Validation.v1.7.59.0.CRA CKED-ETH0 and is already available on most P2P networks and the Usenet.
Raymond did analyze the contents of the crack and verified that it is indeed a working crack that makes it possible for a non legit Windows system to use Windows Download Center and Microsoft Update.
He also noted that the nasty wgatray.exe and wgalogon.dll files are not installed anymore when you visit Windows Updates for the first time. If you remember those have been the files that nagged the user. Good choice by Microsoft to remove those completely.

Hi,
I'm unable to browse Internet and use IE7.
The message that I receive is: Unable to complete genuine windows validation, and small star icon appears in the task tray.
For the first 2 minutes I'm able to browse Internet, but then I got message - Unable to complete genuine windows validation and IE (or ffox) stop working.
I was using Zone labs firewall, that is dissabled and some error message appears. Everything happens in first 2 minutes of Windows bootup.
Could somebody help with advice what to do to remove this virus.
I was using Windows XP for couple years now and never had this problem before.
Thanks,
Mico

Does anyone know how to remove this from ones system please ? In the Add/Remove programs, it shows up in the list, but there is no facility to remove it ! The only way I can think of doing it is to use System restore to the point before I installed it but then I would lose the updates that I subsequently installed. Any ideas ?

Answer:Microsoft Genuine Advantage Validation Tool

Why do you want to remove it? If you remove it you will only have to install it again for future updates. If it's because your firewall is preventing it accessing the Internet then just allow it access and then forget about it.

Answer:Windows 7 genuine validation error: 0x8004FE21

There is a problem with your Software Protection Service - something is preventing it from starting on demand the way it should.
Please use the following in an attempt to isolate the cause.

Click on Start
in the Search box, type
SERVICES.MSC
and hit the Enter key - accept the UAC prompt if you get one.
Look in the console for the Software Protection service, right-click on it and select Properties.
make sure that the Startup Type is set to Automatic (Delayed Start), and click Apply.

Try starting the service now - do you get an error message? Does it start? does it almost immediately stop again?
Post back with your results, and a new MGADiag report.

If it doesn't start, then please do the following...
Please open an Elevated (Administrator) Command Prompt window and use the following commands....

net start sppsvc
sc qc sppsvc
sc queryex sppsvc
sc qprivs sppsvc
sc qsidtype sppsvc
sc sdshow sppsvc

Hi, I was getting some help on the Malware removal forum. I ran the tool "Your Uninstaller" to eliminate a program. In the results I saw something called Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) and says it is corrupted. Wondering what that is, and if it should uninstall it or if it is a real Windows program I need to repair somehow? Thanks for any answers!

I have been running Windows 7 Ultimate on a Dell computer for two and a half years. On Monday, a window opened saying "This computer is not running genuine Windows". The MGADiag report is below.

I went to the Intel web site and ran the Intel Driver Update Utility, which said my drivers were valid. Do I need to update the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers?

I also loaded the disk image backup of the previous day in VirtualBox as a virtual machine and ran MGADiag. The report showed that Windows was valid and showed no file mismatches or tampered files.

The only change I made on the computer before the problem occurred was to install Zoner Draw 5. I installed this program on the virtual machine and ran MGADiag again. The report showed that Windows was still valid.

Thanks in advance.

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

I am attempting to correct an issue with Windows stating my copy is not genuine, I am also unable to install Windows updates, which I presume is part of the same issue. What I've done so far: I was able to run slui 3 and enter my key from the sticker and it was accepted. Thought maybe this solved issue but still can't update. Ran chkdsk /r and scannow. Both completed, with scannow giving the message: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." Ran the MS tool to correct update issues. Says it fixed the issue but installation of updates still bombs out. Finally I found a post elsewhere about removing KB971033 so I did that...of course I noticed in other posts here that that wasn't a great idea. Unfortunately with my inability to run Windows Update, I can't correct that now.

I just ran the MGDiag tool and results are below:

Hi,

So ive searched the forums here and cannot see anyone who's had this problem yet so here goes.

My problem is whenever Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool is used it hangs my pc. firstly explorer starts to hang window by window until nothing responds not even task manager and i have to hard reset. I first experienced this when i tried to install the new IE7 beta a week ago, whenever it went to validate my copy of windows the pc would hang and i would have to reboot.needless to say i didnt install it, Now whenever auto update decides it needs to contact microsoft it hangs my pc. Now ive turned off auto update to get round this for now but im wondering what on earth could be the problem.. I know 100% i am genuine with XP and i turn off sygate firewall and symantec antivirus 10 and close as many process as i can this still happen. Ive run a scannow /sfc and that didnt come up with any errors. couold anyone point me in the right direction with this.. I am a tech support guy for a company so im pretty up on stuff but this one is new to me, ive searched the internet with not much luck and apart from this my system is 100% condition. all drivers up to date temp folders clean. no spyware.. etc etc I am 99.99% sure its the new validation process thats causing this..

Many thanks

Answer:Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool Big Problems

This is a stab in the dark, . . try this:

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data . . .

Delete or rename the data folder . . reboot and go to Windows Update and let it download again.

If that somehow was corrupted, it might install again.

anyone know how to bypass this?

my pc has a legal copy of XP. it has one of those copies that comes with the pc when you buy it.

when i go to microsoft update, it won't let me download any updates untill i install the WGA. i did install it and now it's telling me that my copy is illegal

i contacted MS and they said that i have to send them some proof of it being legal (installation cd's) but since it came with the pc, it doesn't have the cd's

now they're telling me to send them my pc and that they won't be paying shipping

i searched google to find some fix for it and tried some things. i somehow got it uninstalled, but it still won't let me download updates untill i install this tool.

any idea on how to fix this?

Answer:Can't Install Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool

This should get you fixed up...

Step 1:
Temporary disable any security programs you have running, failure to do so will block this fix.

Step 2:
Install the WGA engine manually.

Download the ActiveX cab file from the following link and then save it to the Desktop.
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-43fd-b6fb-19191521126d/LegitCheckControl.cab

Open the downloaded .cab file, you should see the following three files:

GWFSPIDGen.dll
LegitCheckControl.dll
LegitCheckControl.infClick to expand...

Click "Start", click "Run", type: "%windir%\system32" (without quotations) and press ENTER. Copy the GWFSPIDGen.dll and LegitCheckControl.dll files into the opened system32 folder.

Click "Start", click "Run", type: "REGSVR32 LegitCheckControl.dll" (without the quotations) and press ENTER. We will see a popup message state this process succeeded.

Click "Start", click "Run", type: "inf" (without quotations) and press ENTER. Copy the LegitCheckControl.inf file into the opened inf folder.

Right click on the copied LegitCheckControl.inf file in the inf folder, and then choose Install. The WGA engine will be installed automatically.
Step 3:
After you complete the above steps, please restart the computer and try to install the WGA Validation Tool.

I did a clean boot on my computer a few weeks ago to diagnose a problem (or so I thought) and when I rebooted it, the desktop went black with a message saying that my copy of Windows didn't pass genuine validation. I bought the computer new from a computer store in June 2008, but never received a Windows XP disk with it. (I never thought to ask for one at the time.) I have the 25 digit product key, but Microsoft is asking for $199 to validate my XP copy. I'm sick of seeing this black screen on the desktop. I paid good money for this computer and I thought I was a legal user of XP, since it came installed on my computer when I bought it, but now I'm pissed. When I e-mailed the company's tech support, they told me it wasn't their problem and to contact Microsoft. Ant suggestions to get my computer back to normal? Thanks.

Answer:Clean Boot - Black Screen - Genuine Validation

If Microsoft is telling you that the key is invalid...and that's the key which came with the system...it seems that you need to work it out with them.

Validation is their business, not ours. You have a license key, they say it's not valid...seems that some discussion should ensue.

In such instances, it might be helpful if you have the details of your expenditure for the system.

Dear friends,
I use to update my Xp SP-2 regularly from MS website.
Now a days it is insisting to install "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)" first to proceed for downloading update files.
Is it a FORCE or I can bypass this tool. I do not want to install it, as somebody told me this is a tool by MS to takeout personal information on my OS (XP) and MS Office and other MS Software.
I know I use genuine legal copy.
But why should I allow MS to take more information ?
Is not WPA through internet is not sufficient ?
Can this tool take information on other products/3rd party software like NERO,MS OFFICE and ArcSOft ?

Answer:Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)

Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool,in my opinion is safe and only checking your Windows key to make sure you are using a genuine key ,go for it install it ,and don't worry about getting caught for using cracked versions of ,Nero and the other programs you mentioned ,won't happen

The next time that you run a scan at the Windows Updates/Microsoft Updates site, you should be prompted to install the new update to the WGAVT. Once you do, it'll replace version 1.3.0254.0 with version 1.5.512.0.

Answer:Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool(KB892130)

Is that good or bad?

I'm assuming this is part of the constant technology battle between the hackers and Microsoft...

Hi,

I upgraded the hard drive in my Acer Aspire notebook a month ago, successfully activated Windows and was running fine until a couple of days ago. Now I am getting the seemingly common (in this forum) Windows not Genuine error. I have attached the output from MGADiag below.

For reference, the Acer Aspire notebook is 3-years old, came preinstalled with Vista together with a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it launched, which I installed 2 years ago. Running fine the last 3 years.

Yep - it's probably the Intel drivers that need updating.

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Storage Matrix Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here -

Hi!

I've been recently infected with a virus, which with help from the malware section of this forum I've managed to clean. However, now I'm getting an "Unable to complete genuine Windows Validation" icon in the task bar. I've followed the link to the Microsoft site and followed all the 10 steps listed there, but without any success.
I'm assuming that with this problem still active I will not be able to download any updates.
Can anyone suggest what to do to clear it up?

I'm running Windows XP Version 2002 with Service pack 2 and an AMD sempron 3000.

Thanks

Answer:[SOLVED] Unable to complete genuine Windows Validation

Have you called Microsoft and asked them, There is a number for the activation and problems with activation.

Hi,
So I've had this machine for nearly 2 years now and just recently I started getting errors stating Windows wasn't genuine. I browsed forums and tried to find a fix before I decided to reinstall but so far haven't been able to stop it. Below is my diagnostic report from the Genuine Advantage diagnostic tool. Thanks in advance to anyone who looks and let me know of any more information I can provide.

I can't post on the thread by cwchute or TimW to let them know what I've found out, because I've not made 50 posts. I hope that this gets to them + is useful.

I recently got a version of the Micro AV virus as described in:

http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1217214

I lost access to the control panel through the start menu, access to my %systemroot% drive, got all kinds of rubbish in system32+the registry+program files, had to re-activate windows (which seemed to succeed) and was unable to get through the 'Windows genuine validation'.

I used the 'Read and Run Me First' and 'Windows XP cleaning procedures' given on this site to help me remove the Trojan etc + was able to resolve all issues other than the problem with validation.
Thanks so much for making all that help available here!!

I eventually worked out that the registry entry for that the ProductID was blank (hence the validation failure).
This can be viewed in system properties on the general tab
I re-added it using regedit to go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

and double-clicking on ProductID (interestingly it'd left the DigitalProductID intact, which might be why the re-authorization went through ok, but the validation didn't.... I don't honestly know).

I'm lucky enough to have kept the boxes for my version of XP Pro, so had no trouble entering my product key again. If you don'... Read more

Answer:Micro AV + Windows Genuine Validation Failure Resolution

Just to be a bit clearer you enter the product key (when you have got it from the box or by using the steps mentioned in my original post) by using regedit to go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

double-clicking on "ProductID"

typing/pasting the product key into the "Value Data" field

closing the regedit

After some years working perfectly well the Windows 7 copy on my Dell 1720 Inspiron has begun failing the periodic validation checks. Re-activation of Windows reports back as successful, but using the MS validation check invariably reports the copy as non-genuine (it is!).

I have ensured the system is virus/malware free using various tools, checked (as far as my knowledge allows) that all drivers are up to date and tried some of the other suggestions I've read on this forum, but the problem persists.

My university makes us run a Computer Assessment Tool before we bring our PC's to college. It is a good way to keep the network free of viruses and garbage. without running this tool and passing, you cannot connect to their network.

i, of course, keep my computer squeaky clean and virus/spyware free. the only point that is keeping me from passing is that i need to download 2 windows updates. no biggie, so when i try to download them from the window's update site, but it won't download them, it errors. For some reason i am missing this 'Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)'??

i searched the microsoft update site, downloaded the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) and it popped up when i installed it, i assume it installed and worked (genuinized my comp??)....went back to downloaded the windows update and the same error came up, saying i need Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)..

Please somebody help me. I would appreciate any assistance.

AdAware SE http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
SpyBot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

DL them (they are free), install them, check each for their definition updates and then run AdAware and Spybot, fixing anything they say.

If that doesn't fix your prob

Hi,

I'm having a problem that I simply can't find a solution to myself. I have installed Cisco Systems VPN Client and at the end of the install, I get an error message stating:

Validation failed for C:\WINDOWS\system32\vsdata.dll
the title window says: C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\cvpnd.exe (the program that's having trouble validating vsdata.dll, I'm guessing)

I've had this program installed in the past, and have since uninstalled it. This installation is the first one that's proving to be troublesome. The only real difference is that I removed a hard drive from my computer. I cleanly removed it and made sure that there are no paths pointing to it and no registry keys pointing there.

I am running a copy of win xp pro operating system but it failed the validation test from Microsoft.I want to make my copy legal but I have a number of questions concerning the cheapest route.I have a genuine copy of win 98 'upgrade' the first released.I need to make my present copy legal but I am also considering a major computer upgrade in the near future so I have discounted the OEM version of xp pro as it would not be licensed for more than one computer and I would not be able to validate with Microsoft on the new build.I do not want vista for a couple of years because of old associated hardware and driver problems.I would be legally entiled to the student teacher upgrade version for win xp pro and I can get a copy brought over from the USA for 115 dollars 68.I understand the American version has no differences from that available in Britain, is this correct?I plan to make my copy legal by inserting the disc from boot and doing a system repair which will ask for the new product code and then hopefully be recognised by the microsoft advantage tool as genuine. Then when I build a new system I will uninstall win xp pro from my old computer and do a fresh install on a clean hard disc using the win 98 upgrade disc to prove that I am entitled to the win xp pro upgrasde disc. I have done similar with win 98 using upgrade discs to get a clean full operating system install from an upgrade disc. Are all my assumptions correct and is this the cheapest and best route to solve my prob... Hi guys
To anybody who needs to download the Windows AIK (Automated Installation Kit) you can do it directly from Windows 7 -- it bypasses all the Windows validation check and windows live ID B/S and takes you straight to the download.

You still get the validation screen - but just click download and it all works

It's a 992 MB file however so you'll need a decent Internet Connection for this one.

This is useful for building a PE environment and deploying Windows on loads of machines.

Here's my problem:
Last last week, my hard drive has been ruined. So I bought a new hard drive and let the technician fix my PC. They installed a new, original, clean copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. They also activate it. I wanted to check online. I wanted to receive updates and download some Microsoft and Windows product. But then, it requires me to validate my copy of windows. So I downloaded the Genuine Check. But it says:

On occasions over the last few months I have had a pop-up warning me that my system has failed validation and that I could lose MSE protection after 30 days if I don't address the problem.
However, when I run the prompted validation check all is well.
More of a nuisance than a problem.I'm running XP SP3 and it IS genuine Windows!!
Anyone else experiencing this,please?

Answer:Microsoft Security Essentials-Failed Validation

Currently I have a data validation drop down list in Excel where you can only select one list item. I want users to be able to select multiple items from this list, and have it show in the single cell separated by comma. I've read you can do this with VBA but I'm not familiar with VBA in Excel. If anyone knows another way to do this, or some step by step instructions you could link to about how to do it with VBA, I'm pretty technical so with a little guidance should be able to figure it out.

Validation failed for C:\WINDOWS\system32\zonelabs\camupd.dll

I even restored the entire hard drive and this message appears, so I don't know how it can be virus related, what is going on?

Someone please help!

We developed an app using HTTPS, running on Windows 8.1 Pro, and the app is being used in an Proxy enabled environment.

We set the appropriate Proxy setting to the app, but, for some reason, the app cannnot reach the CRL distribution point for cheking the validity of the SSL certificate.

Our app designates the proxy to the Windows API, but it seems like WinInet/WinHttp is not using this proxy when checking for the certificate.

By using netsh winhttp set proxy xxxx, it can reach to the CRL distribution point via the proxy.

It looks like a some sort of bug, but not sure. Can anyone help us to solve the issue here?

Keep getting this error. Code 80070641
It did work on the Windows 7 Ultimate on my Laptop. I was wondering if this could be because this version of Windows 7 Ultimate is a clone.

Answer:Update for Office File Validation 2010 (KB2553065), 32-bit Failed

Hello and welcome Basboppo mate being a clone shouldn't have been any problem however that isn't to say it didn't clone properly. See this
updates not responding error code 80070641 - Microsoft Community

If this is not working then I suggest you do this
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 select the right version and then retrieve data from the old drive to the new one. You must of course use the original activation code on the machines sticker.

It means the files are corrupt. Try downloading just one file, and see if that completes.

Hello there guys,

I installed ZoneAlarm free firewall yesterday and during the install i recieved an error message saying "Validation failed for Vsmon.exe, this is probably due to a missing root certificate." ZoneAlarm seemed to install fine but it slowed my firefox and IE browsers down to crawling speed, so i uninstalled it, and they seem to be working fine again. I had a look around on the net for info on this 'missing root certificate' and found out that Vsmon.exe is a ZoneAlarm file and that a missing root certificate on my pc can be caused by Malicious software.

So to sum up my issue and question is that 'if' i have missing root certificates on my pc (and it wasnt related to ZoneAlarm) does it mean that i have some sort of hidden malware or even a rootkit that could be causing damage under my nose?

I have Super Antispyware, Avast Antivirus free edition, MalwareBytes Anti-malware, Spy-Bot S&D and windows defender and firewall. Have run scans with all of these (not in safe mode) with nothing malicious showing up. I'ts probly nothing just want to make sure if possible, and here is my Hijack log cheers.

Hi, I am getting download speeds of aronnd 88 MBPS on my desktop and 35 MBPS on my Insprion. I did a diagnostics test using DW WLAN UTILITY CARD. The SPROM test failed the validation test.
My internet connection may drop out once in awhile, like every few week for a few minutes. I did click on update all the drivers for the network adapters and all are up to date.
SPROM Format Validation (verifies the content of the SPROM by reading a portion of the SPROM and computing the checksum)
I do not know what this affects, nor what else I should do, if anything. I ran this test thinking my wireless speed should be higher. 88 desktop vrs 35 on this laptop. router is an old netgear n-150 WR1000
Router should be able to handle up to 150 MBPS. Also when I connect it dircetly to modem using an Ethernet cable speeds are same as the desktop.
Thank you Gary

Hi all,

I need help to validate that the data in excel column is always a 4 characters alphanumeric only.
eg: abc1
ADG2
123R
1we2
2WER
3ER3
etc
Kindly help in this by giving function to accomplish this check.
thanks in advance.

Answer:4 characters alphanumeric data validation check on one excel column.

Welcome to the forum

LEN(A1)=4 would give you the length, so you could combine it with another formula using AND to only allow letters and numbers.

Hi a friend of mine has had his Dell desktop for years now and out of the blue he has been getting a box on start up saying that it had failed the windows genuine validation and clicks the box Resolve where he is taken to the website and this is what he is told,
**Enter a genuine Windows product key.
The product key used to activate Windows on your PC is a volume license key that has been blocked by Microsoft.**
He has not had any problems before with this and does not know what to do for the best the only option offerd on thier website is to buy windows 7.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Answer:Out of the blue im getting Windows did not pass genuine windows validation

To check it is a Dell install (and not a reload of operating system if it has ever been in a repair shop and they put a VLK version on instead of a Dell pre-activated OEM)
Rightclick 'My Computer' | Properties | General tab, and the third in the list - underneath Registered to: should read xxxxx-OEM-xxxxxxx-xxxxx (the x's will be numbers) IF he has numbers instead of OEM then it is not a Dell install.

So this really irritates me because I just spent hundreds of dollars sending my laptop to HP last year because the hard drive completely failed. I have a 1TB hybrid hard drive and 22Gb solid state used for caching.  When I booted up my computer Intel Rapid Storage Technology said there was an issue.  When I opened it, it says that the status of: SATA disk (932 GB)(System) Accelerated, is Failed.  My SATA_Array_0001 22GB is fine though.  So I ran a System Quick Test, everything passed except Hard Drive Short DST Check: FAILEDFAILURE ID: Q4MP7Q-6RA82U-MFGJWK-60W303 This is weird because other than the computer telling me there is something wrong every time I restart it, It seems to run just fine.  Im just worried because I don't want it to randomly die on me one day.

Answer:SATA disk failed and Hard Drive Short DST Check: Failed

Hi there @nmulji,  Thank you for joining in on the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great place to ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! I read your post on the HP Support Forums and understand that the Hard Drive in your HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j100 Select Edition CTO Notebook PC failed the Short DST Check.  SMART (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology System) uses a technology known as predictive failure analysis to tell you when a hard drive failure is imminent. Have you tried to Restore the BIOS? If not, please try this step first. Then, just to be on the safe side, back up your data that way it does not get lost. However, there might be certain conditions that cause a hard drive failure message to display when a problem does not exist (a false positive). To fix false positive hard drive errors, please try updating the hard drive firmware. You can check whether an update is available by going to the  Get software and drivers page. You will need to put in your Model Number and then click the links that pertain to the computer configuration and see if a hard drive update is available.  You could also try to do a  Disk Defragment to consolidate files and move them to another section of the drive where errors are less likely to occur. Did this reply resolve your issue or answer your question? If...
