Question: computer virus windows 7 wont boot even is sa

Cannot boot up computer to windows 7. Even in safe mode. It got a virus that had red writing on the screen. For a virus protection. Error screen says Error f3-f100-0004.Press OK to turn off computer. Have pushed all F keys, everything works ok there, or seems to anyway. I think that a virus has gotten into boot sector. Took it to a repair person. Who has a computer repair store. But I think he messed it up even worse. He said he would charge 250 bucks to fix it. It cost just over 350 new. Any suggestions.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: computer virus windows 7 wont boot even is sa

If you can't even boot into windows, you might try downloading one of these restore disks from a working computer, burn it to cd and then use it to boot your computer. If you have to change the boot order, go into your BIOS and set the boot order to boot first from the cd drive. http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windo...

Hello there,

It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.

Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:

1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.

4. Accept the Windows license agreement.

5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.

6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.

7.  Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

Trying to help out a friend. His operating system is Win XP Home Basic. He says he was on one of the free (not adult) movie websites and received a virus warning from his installed Avast resident anti virus program. He exited the site and ran a complete hard disk scan which found a virus. He moved the file to the Avast virus chest. Then he says he was downloading an update for Spybot Search and Destroy when the computer crashed and rebooted.

He then asked for my help. Trying to boot normally the computer never gets past the welcome screen. At the welcome screen two accounts appear, his name and administrator. Clicking on either one (I've tried both) shows "Loading your personal settings" and then stops and goes back to the welcome screen again, only now in the lower left corner is displayed "Exit (his name) desktop. Clicking on the exit desktop link it shows the standard XP shutdown dialog: standby/restart/shutdown.

Next I booted the system to Safe Mode and selected "Restart from last known good configuration using system restore". This only resulted in the same outcome. Frozen at the welcome screen.

Any ideas? Could this be a hard drive failure? Is there anything that can be done?
Thanks for your help.

My grandpa has a laptop with windows 8.1 on it. He recently fell for a phone scam where some guy tricked him into letting him take control of his computer and pay him hundreds of dollars for security software that doesn't work. All we know is that they turned
off his firewall and added some kind of virus/malware that was alerting him every time he opened up a web browser. Luckily I came for a visit in time to take a look and I ran a few different programs to put things back together the best that I know how. First
I set a recovery point just in case, then I ran CCleaner, taking some bloat off, as well as some programs we were sure he didn't install, nor were used recently. I ran a Herd-protect scan and took a bunch of things off with that and then I used Panda Internet
Security to scan once more before I went to bed. It was working really well before I ran that last scan so I figured I was accomplishing something.
Now to the real problem, which is that now the computer wont boot properly. Specifically. I turn it on. and I get the spinning lights/loading screen for a minute. then a black screen with a mouse on it. The mouse moves fine and it looks just like it does
before it opens the log in screen.
I tried to open Safe Mode but I guess Windows 8 doesn't always respond to F8 while booting? I can't use ctrl+alt+del at any point and it doesn't go into Automatic Repair Mode either. I've been looking at other people's questions and found two that

Hi, when I turn on my computer, it trys to load windows XP and will restart over and over again. I can't load safe mode or my last known good configuration won't fix the problem. I also get the message "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME."

After this, I used a windows XP CD and ran chkdsk /r and fixboot with no luck. Since my main drive is Seagate, I created a boot cd with Seatools on it. Ran the program and it told me that I have a bunch of errors on my drive. I tried repairing them but then other sectors would come up with errors when I re-ran the scan.

So now I don't know what to do. Did my hard drive fail or is it just a virus? Im thinkin that I should just buy a new HD, but Im hoping that I can just restore all my data, settings and everything to back how it was. I don't want to go thru the hassle of reinstalling every single thing again.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Answer:Windows XP wont boot - HD failure or Virus???

Try a different data cable for the hard drive. A bad cable can cause all kinds of errors.
If that doesn't change anything, and if Seatools keeps finding more bad sectors each time it's run, it's time to replace the hard drive.

You can try using a Ubuntu CD to recover any files you don't already have backed up.
Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer
Version 10 looks different than the screen shots, you don't get the same boot menu. Just be sure to choose the Try option, not the Install option when asked.

Hello,

Trying to format/install XP on my spare machine which currently has Fedora Core on it. I made sure BIOS had CDROM first. Stuck in the CD, rebooted. Once I press the "hit any key to boot from cd"..

It shows the black sceen with " Setup is inspecting your hardware configuration".

Instead of going to the blue screen where it loads the stuff, the screen just goes black - and nothing ever shows.

Ive tried this with both CDROM drives.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer:computer wont boot to windows

It looks like the boot sector of your hard disk is erased or damaged. Since you did try to reinstall windows and you couldn't because the disk couldn't be formated, you should do a scan disk in a preinstallation environment like Windows PE. Of course, for that, you will need more specialized tools, which I'm assuming you don't have and don't know how to obtain. Lets see if others have better solutions.

I turn on my computer fine and the Windows XP boot comes up. After that the whole screen goes blank and there is nothing that I can do about it. I just tried to reconfigure my display to use the right resoultion for my new monitor. It came with software to run the moitor at optimum preformance and what not. I put in the disc and the autoplay on the disc never engaged so I opened up my computer and tried to get it to start from there. No luck. I tried opening up each individual driver and all that from the cd. I got to one called "true color" or something like that ( I dont really remember sorry) and installed it on my computer. I promped a restart and everything was going fine until the screen went blank after the windows xp boot screen. I've checked the internals of my computer and everying thing is ok. I've also tried using my old monitor only to get the same black screen. Any suggestions on how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

Earlier this evening, windows surprised me by restarting to preform a windows update. I went to go do something else for half hour or so, and when I came back I saw the startup repair was running.

On startup right after the windows logo come up, I get blue screen with error PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED 0x0000006B.

Same thing on safe mode and "last successful boot config."

All of my restore points failed, and startup repair fails.

Checkdisk says no problems found, and SFC finds corrupt files and repairs them every time I run it, but the blue screen still comes up.

I tried using the widows 7 recovery disk but that failed too.

I have done a LOT of reading on the subject and based on the evidence, believe this is due to corruption of ntdll.dll in system32.

There was a forum thread where it was suggested I replace this file from the same version of windows followed by many replies from users who were able to successfully fix their issue this way. When I try to copy the clean version of ntdll.dll into my system using the recovery console, however, I the the error

The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open.

I suspect this means some process is using the file or something like that. Somehow, other people were able to get it to work.

Computer wont boot from CD for Windows XP re-install.

Hi, had been planning on re-formatting the hard drive for some time, then got a ?security hoax? virus so that pushed he to do my re-install. Problem is, my computer won?t boot form the CD drive. I?ve got a Dell Dimension 3000. Here?s what I?ve done.

First, I ran several malware programs to seek and destroy the virus. Then?the disc is an original Windows XP re-install disc. When placed in the drive, it does recognize it, and starts the program. I select re-install the operating system and it states no can do because you are attempting to install XP service pack 1 and your running service pack 3. The drive appears to be working properly.

I re-start, and it boots from the hard drive (never prompts me to press any key to boot from disc). Next I enter the BIOS set up and set the boot sequence to boot from CD first. The computer still starts from the hard drive. I next tried setting it to only boot from CD not hard drive and I just get ?F1 try again, F2 enter BIOS?. I keep playing with the settings and have gotten the prompt ?press any key to boot from CD but when I do so, nothing happens except it goes to the hard drive and starts up.

I had two disc drives so I dis-connected the slave and made sure the remaining drive is set as master. I also tried physically dis-connecting the hard drive and tried booting from disk but kept getting the F1 F2 prompt.

I don?t think I ever updated my BIOS and read that as a suggestion, but... Read more

When I restarted my computer my machine started making a loud beeping noise repeatedly and not going through the beeping process. I cannot get to the bios stage or boot from disc. Has anyone any ideas what may have caused this?

Answer:Computer wont boot after installing windows XP SP2

Does the screen show anything when you turn the computer on ? If it does then tell us what's the last message you see. If not then it's probably some hardware problem. Turn the computer off, unplug the power cable and open the computer case. Remember to touch a metal part of the case to discharge your own electricity before you touch any internal component. Check that the cpu heatsink is correctly seated and doesn't move at all. Take the memory sticks out and leave only one in the first slot (closer to the CPU). Check that the video card is correctly seated. Turn the computer on and check that all the fans are spinning.

What are the complete specs of this computer ? What's the power supply brand, model and wattage ? Check the sticker that's on the side of the power supply block.

I have an Asus computer x64 that was originally Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 10/10.1, and have had no issues for over a year. I was running someone else's SD card to watch a video and I closed out the video and popped out the SD card. My computer then froze. So, I turned it off and then it was just a black screen. Turned off again it popped randomly into BIOS which I saved and exited only to keep popping into the BIOS. After 1 more restart, the ASUS logo showed up and say "Preparing Automatic Repair". After about 6 minutes of that, it popped up into the Windows Recovery Area I guess. It is a blue screen and gives you the option to Troubleshoot or Turn off PC. I choose Troubleshoot.

Another two options appear which say Reset this PC and Advanced Options. I have gone into Reset PC to keep my files and it tells me "The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again."

Next I go into advanced options and try System Restore, which tells me to specify which installation to restore, restart the computer and select System Restore (I cant get to this option).

I try Going back to the previous build which says, to try resetting your current build because it cant take me back to previous build...

Im stuck and my computer is everything to me.

So I reinstalled windows 7 on my laptop everything was fine restarted several times to install updates, drivers etc. But then the next day when I try to turn it on it simply does not get past the windows logo it just freezes restarts then ends up on launch repair. So the day I reinstall its fine but the next day wont boot. This has happened many times now, so i figured i would see if anyone else had any advice.

thanks in advance

Answer:Computer wont boot windows after fresh install next day

Hello. What is the make/model of your laptop?

Are you using a Windows setup disc that came with the laptop -- what is the source of the OS installation?

If the laptop is not new, you might try re-seating the memory module(s) by removing/ reinserting them several times. Same for any connectors you are able to reach (HDD, etc)... this is to help dislodge possible corrosion or other crud on the connections.

So my moms computer started doing something which has me going nuts at this point. My mom has an older dell that has been giving her problems. This was actually my older PC i gave her when I got a new one. One day I got the call we all dread when we get from "anyone in the family that sees us as the computer guy/gal". She told me the computer wont start. Its stuck.

I said well she either touched some setting or some issues with the boot file etc. I went over thinking i'll just boot to install CD and either repair or worst case senerio reformat. No biggie. I get there and just turn it on to see what happen. Bios load windows starts and I get the windows logo with the starting windows and it just stays there. I said well lets try a repair. I insert the disk press F12 boot from disk, I get the touch any key I press it and it just goes back to the starting windows screen stuck.

Hmm. I said well lets boot into safe mode and see if I can do something through there. Press F8 select safe mode and boom I get all that stuff across the screen like its the matrix and then it just stay stuck there. Nothing..

I started thinking and then said 'I'll show you!!" Made a Ultimate boot CD and wiped the drive. My thinking was since I wiped the drive I can start new fresh drive and everything will be peachy from there. I wiped the drive and inserted the install disk and I couldn't believe it, back to starting windows and boom stuck again. At this point I do n... Read more

I've had this problem with the Windows Security popping up by itself happening for about 2 days now. And also a program that popped up around the same time called Personal Guard 2009. I've used Ad-aware and it has found the Personal Guard 2009 and removed it, but will come right back up after the removal. I've also used Smitfraudfix, no luck. After this infection I downloaded Malwarebytes and it won't open. Tried Safemode, there was a problem with that too. although im not the best with computers I'll try and keep up. well i think i have a virus because as soon as i star windows it says it trend ChipAwayVirus(R) On Guard Ver 1.65 and when i try to install windows xp again it wont go away and well the computer wont even start as soon as it goes through the place where it says boot from cd it shuts resets. so is my computer screwd up or something cause i really want to fix it.

Answer:computer wont install windows xp (chip virus)

What's the brand and model of your computer ?

From what I could find Trend ChipAwayVirus is an antivirus integrated in the BIOS, it can cause false positives if it doesn't know the operating system installed. Enter the BIOS at startup and turn the virus protection off there (under virus scanning or antivirus protection, possibly in the advanced menu).

See if you can get into windows with the bios antivirus turned off.

Answer:Dell Optiplex GX260 computer wont boot into Windows XP Pro.

Had an old Dell Optiplex to fix for my daughter and what happened was it changed the start device.
After help from this Forum I was told to check and found out it was starting from Floppy although there were no floppy drive on it.
So had to go into the Bios look for Floppy drive and disable or remove it.
Worked fine after that.It might not be your problem but worth a look if you are bored.

Hi all. I have had nothing but issues, since upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8 (64).
The installation within of itself was horrible.
I got the continual flash on the screen, until I was able to get it into safe mode and recovered it.
Then made sure drivers were updated.
However, I did not upgrade my BIOs, from the information I had seen from MSFT.
Didnt think twice, since they said if you were upgrading from 8 or 8.1 that should not be an issue.
The system was running stable, after I did those fixes.

About 1 week ago, after a MSFT Windows automatic patch push, My monitor started not to respond during boot up. Ran some basic troubleshooting for the monitor (Ie: check plugs, check cables, check Video card).
They all seemed to work fine and my system booted up normal.

The very next day, cold booted again and monitor did same thing, it was not getting any signal from the computer.
Went through the checks, after a little bit of a delay the system finally booted.
I checked my BIOs settings, which were all set up normally.

I locked my computer after that and did not turn off the system, the next morning, my monitor was unresponsive.

I re-checked monitor, cables and even replaced the video card. Everything is good except no signal to my monitor.
I disconnected all hardware except the video card and motherboard, to see if it was an issue with my power.
I took out out the CMOS battery and also disconnected power to the motherboard for about 2 hours, to try and reset the ... Read more

Answer:Computer wont boot (even into UEFI/BIOS) after Windows 10 upgrade

Do you believe that the Windows 10 upgrade corrupted your BIOS, or otherwise damaged your hardware? That would be unusual.

What do you mean by "bootable USB BIOS"? There are a variety of things you can put on a USB device, including a DOS environment for doing a BIOS update, but "USB BIOS" means nothing to me.

When you "disconnected all hardware except the video card and motherboard" did you also disconnect the hard drive and the opticals? I once fried an internal Zip 100 drive, and the PC wouldn't boot with it attached. (It was probably an IDE device, though. Long time ago.)

I'd like to blame Microsoft for your troubles, but I just don't see it.

So my co worker asked me to look at her laptop its a toshiba tecra m2. The boot keeps hanging up on the system32 file agp440.sys . I went on the internet and found a windows xp pro disk to try and replace the system32 file using recovery. After a learning how to add SATA drivers to the windows xp boot I was able to detect the hard drive and just before windows setup screen comes up the computer blue screens with a 0x0000007B stop error... I read that the battery could cause this so i carefully took apart the computer and replaced it with no change. I put a windows 7 disk in to see if i could use the recovery console in it and suprisingly it booted no problem, i was able to use command prompt but with no idea what the problem is i have no idea what to do with it. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. Thanks for reading the problem hope someone has an idea. any more info needed just ask

thanks

Answer:Windows wont boot hangs up on agp440.sys and wont complete boot off the disk :/

Info on 7B STOP errors...http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.htm, scroll down to 7B in left column.

IMO, you have compounded the situation by using a "downloaded" version of Windows, since I suspect that such may contain embedded malware as part of the package.

Any number of things may have caused the initial hang, as you can see by reading the data at the Aumha website.

I have a Windows Vista Home Basic, It was taken apart by my son who is obsessed about computers, And he did not take it apart to be fully ruined, all he did is take out 1 thing of memory out of 4 there is, and the hard drive he broke the data slot, and I am using a different vista hard drive to boot it up. And it only show the black screen with the dell startup and show bios under it in a sentence, and it says F2 for boot set up, and F12 for something else, I forget. A friend had someone work on her laptop. They said they installed Microsoft Security Essentials and after it ran, it told them to run Windows Defender Offline. Now the laptop won't boot into windows. When it gets to the Windows loading screen, you catch a flash of BSOD and reboot. I have booted into Windows RE and ran system repair with no result. I have tried SFC /scannow but it says a repair is in progress and needs a reboot. I have ran FRST64 and included the FRST.txt file. Can anyone please lead me to the next step. Personally if it was mine, I would wipe it clean and reinstall windows but not everyone seems to make backups of their important stuff.

Answer:after windows defender offline, computer wont boot FRST.txt included

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

Attached is fixlist.txt

Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

On one of our Windows 10 computers, Windows Defender returned an alert today for a boot sector virus:DOS/StonedSpirit, in a location we don't see very often:
boot:_\Device\Harddisk1\DR1. We can't find any information about this virus on the Microsoft website, so I'm asking here. On a Windows 10 device, does a DOS virus, in this location pose a security threat? If so, what should we do about it?

One of my co-workers suggested that this is a false positive. Could this be possible?

It looks like I managed to get that irritating "Congratulations you won" virus that opens multiple iexplorer.exe's in the background. I ran a couple of things (ccleaner, adaware, spybot) but in my haste and impatience I must have did something foolish. I first killed the svchost.exe because it seemed like the iexplorer.exe's were opening up under it. I know this was a bad idea. Shortly after another process called loader.exe opened and I proceeded to kill that as well. This is where everything went downhill.

The computer freaked out. Everything started to close so out of fear and idiocy I shut the computer down. Now windows refuses to boot. The computer is an Asus G51. After the initial system boot up, nothing happens. Just a black screen. I've tried hitting f5, f8, f10, and f12 in hopes of getting into the boot menu, but none of them seem to work. I can only get into the BIOS using f2. I cant seem to find my vista disk (if asus even sent me one) so I havent tried booting from the disk by setting that up in the BIOS.

I know I made a bunch of stupid moves and its frustrating because that is very unlike me. At this point I dont really even care about restoring the computer to previous condition, I just want to get it working again even if I have to start from scratch (new OS install or whatever). Can you guys help me out?

Answer:Tried to fix "Congratulations" Virus, windows wont even boot now

I can't relate the one thing - killing some processes - to the other - windows won't start; but given the situation, i would suggest you reset the BIOS...

Try reinstalling 2000 again and if you don't have service pack 4, I suggest you download it and apply it. You only need SP4, you can skip 1,2 and 3 since 4 contain previous fixes.

Hello, I am having major problems with my Computer.
A while ago, in the middle of 3d gaming my computer locked up and the monitor went to standby mode. When I turned comp off and back on, the screen was blank..
All the devices were still working (Hard drive, fans, dvd-drive all still spinning) but the screen was blank... no boot screen or beep... I tried unplugging all the devices one by one then rebooting, and got down to the motherboard and the processor and still nothing at start-up (I also tried an alternate monitor and got same result)...
So i bought a new motherboard and power supply and im still getting the same problem.. i really hope my processor isnt burnt out :(
Im not too familiar with installing motherboards so i didnt mess with the jumper settings... but im getting the same problem that i had with my old MB and its default jumper settings....

Any suggestions?

first try clearning the cmos on the motherboard jumper and see if that helps fix the problem, refer to the asus manual for the cmos jumper location. then boot the computer up and see if you get any post.

if not, then boot with only the bare essentials which are only the power supply, motherboard, cpu, ram, and videocard. take out all of the comp parts outside the computer case and only reseat the devices ive listed above and then see if you can get the computer to post.

Last night I updated windows 8.1 from windows 8.
It got to the stage where it needs to restart so it done that started the configarations and once it reached 100% it restarted.

Since then what happens is when i press power on the samsung logo comes on the screen then the black screen with the windows picture then the bsod comes up for around half a second and it restarts. then it constantly does this.

The whole cycle only takes a few seconds.

Ive tried booting in safe mode but this isnt working so I downloaded kav rescue on another computer and saved it on a flash drive, But it wont boot off this either.

Any ideas?

Answer:Windows wont start after 8.1 update wont boot in safe mode

What does the BSOD state? Most times it is a driver issue with the Display drivers. Other times it is hardware.

Was not simple trying to clarify my problem in a small title. My online classes begin in 5 days, I am desperate here! Here we go. 2 days ago I tried to import pics from my phone to laptop. I have had this laptop only for 3-4 months, and just mainly used it for school. Before halfway through the importing of pics process it rejects my phone, and will no longer recognize it (Samsung Galaxy S5 active btw). I did so much research, and tried so many usb settings tweeks, but nothing. It hates my phone for some reason.

Then at a point during all that, I reset my laptop and it just gets stuck with black screen and circle bubbles. Doing all the things you can think of on google, so many searches. It goes from that to getting stuck on welcome screen, then doing more work and searching, I get it to go to my desktop, but its only a black screen with mouse cursor. Before this point I couldn't even get it to boot through safe mode, it would get stuck. I can get safe mode now, but wont let me access any setting or options, no control panel. Not even start menu! I could only get into task and device managers. At that point I saw "!"s on my display adapters, video card, network card, and a couple of other visual type devices. Tried to uninstall, reinstall drivers, nothing. I've done so many things to resolve this, but ask if I've done it anyway, please. Before I left for work earlier, I just gave up. All of a sudden, I turn on my lap top (lenovo idea pad flex 10) and it takes forever to Load, then says windows 8 wont boot or something.
Takes me to a blue screen and I tries to system restore but that also won't load and go through. Help please?
I went to advanced options and pulled up the box you type **** in butI don't know what to put km it to make windows boot!

Answer:windows 8 wont boot and system restore wont work

You need to be much more specific about what your problem is. I can't tell at all from your post what's really happening, and neither will anybody else. What exactly happens? What exact messages do you get? What "advanced options" are you talking about? Also, it appears this site's profanity filter has blocked something in your post. Using such language is not helpful.

Ok well my computer when turned on gets to the screen that says

"windows closed unexpectedly"..etc and gives the options of

"safe mode"
"safe mode with netwroking"
"safe mode with command prompt"
"start windows normally"
"start windows with most recent working config" (or something similar)

Im sure most of you are familiar with this screen, when any of the options is selected
the computer begins to start up but then makes a struggling noise and returns to that screen
we can get past it.

If someone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, earlier today i was working on some video footage. I had went downstairs for an hour i came up and i had all these anti virus pop ups flashing all over my screen. i dont know how they got on there as i scan my computer every 2 days. The only possible reason i can think of is visiting The Pirate Bay.org. I tried opening task manager but the software keeps closing it. No matter what i tried the software would tell my system not to open it. I tried restarting the computer but when it gets onto the windows loading screen it flashes a blue screen then resets and this continually happens. I tried safe mode and last safe config, it still happens.

Some of the malware i saw:

Anti Malware doctor
Security suite
and some more.

I cannot use my DVD drive as it doesnt work so my only option is to do some via USB stick.. Is there any other way? please help.

How can i fix this without having to use a DVD drive and formatting / recovery console?

Thanks.

Need this help urgently.

hi folks,Im running XP pack 3 on a toshiba laptop satelite 85. While searching a site on auto repairs I got a message pop up from my virus program(avira) telling me there was a virus in the page and did I want to deny access-I said yes and it popped up about 5-6 more times before I could click out of page. I thought by denying access the problem was solved but I ran malwarebytes and avira to be sure. Malware found nothing but avira found 2 viruses which I chose to quarantine. Avira told me I have to restart the computer to complete the action-which I did. When it rebooted and got to my desktop page there were no icons but a small window that said -to protect your computer data execution prevention has closed microsoft front page server administrator client-it gave me no choices except to click close then another window asked if I wanted to send this error to microsoft. I did.I rebooted in safe mode and ran every virus program I have to no avail-I tried restoring to another save point but it kept saying it did not go back to that point so nothing has changed.  But I do have a popup alert that tells me I have a virus and starts scanning on its own from a site called bonuspromoofer.com.I may have screwed up big time cuz I went to safe mode as admin and ran sysdm.cpl and made dep accept front page, rebooted and computer came on perfect again, so I started malwarebytes again and as soon as I did a popup came up and said you have a security prob.-do you want to scan for viruse... Oh my, what a mess. From your post I think I was able to gather that you can no longer start your computer without some sort of scan running? Please correct me if I'm wrong.First of all, I advise you never to use scanners and "magical-fairy-super-speed-up-PC" crap from the internet. Half the anti-virus etc programs out there are actually just blatant advertisement programs, with many telling you that you have a virus when in-fact you don't, or you do, but only because the "scanner" program installed it itself and then offers to remove it at a cost to your visa.Any way enough ranting. Try to organize your post down to just what happened, what you have tried and what still works. Can you create a Hijackthis log?

What malware prompted this person to run WDO? I'm not seeing any real malware issues. At least not the typical signs of Alureon that people have been running WDO for and then having their PC become unbootable. But all those cases were on Vista and Win 7. This PC is Windows 8. The only thing I see is the below junkware

Hi,

About a month a go I installed kapersky anti-virus software as my norton trial had run out. 30 days have now gone and i found that i never had no antivirus software so i decided to download some free stuff online (avast) and (mcafee). To my horror i have noticed that although i can download this programmes, I am still unable to run them. I feel that an virus is preventing me to have antivirus software on my laptop and its really frustrating me!

I also was told by someone to download MalwareBytes (which i did). I run a full scan and was informed that i had 500 and something files that were infected (registry). When it came to me deleting these through the programme it was fine but there was 11 infected files that the programme was unable to delete and i think these are the files that are responisible for me not being able to download antivirus software on my laptop.

Additional info is:
When I browse on the internet and decide to click on a link from google, I sometimes get the message 'document moving' and it directs me to a suspiscious website.

My operating system is also windows vista.

Any help on how to get rid of these 11 infected files would be much appreciated!

Thanks x

Kacey

A friend of mine has a problem where he restarts his pc, gets the login, enters the password, then the pc just shuts down. He's tried turning it off then starting and got the same thing. He tried safe mode, same thing. He said he tried a different restore point (which i dont know how he got to if he couldnt even get past the login) and that didnt work. Finally, it did boot up.
He has S+D and Ad Aware (fyi)
He recently, before this happened, installed this supposed anti-virus software called Avast! b/c someone had said it was good. He installed it (with a crack i think) and immidiately he got a message "you have a virus. Go to this website" which he did and immediately his pop up blockers started going nuts and stuff started to install itself, like dozens of things. So apparently, this wasnt legit antivirus software.
So, im guessing that has something to do with this other problem?
Any suggestions?

thanks

If he can get hijackthis to run - that would be good

does he get a countdown on shutdown?

HIJACK THIS:
Download and copy hijackthis [should be version 1.99] to its own folder , it makes backups so keeping them separate and available can be useful.
SO DO NOT put hjt onto the desktop or temp files.

Hello people, I am in desperate need for help!

My computer got the 'Security Tool Protect your PC virus' despite having AVG free installed. I tried using the rkill application in order to ran a scan but rkill didn't actually 'killed' the virus process. I decided to ran a scan from safe mode. There the avg command line scanner found various trojans and viruses and automatically removed them. Problem is that after this scan I cannot get into my normal windows, I get a blue screen when they start to boot and the computer restarts automatically (before I have the time to even see the contents of the screen). I can boot into safe mode and I thought that that may be a hope I can save my Win installation. I also run Malwarebytes anti-malware but found nothing.

Any help is deeply appreciated.

The firewall was causes some freezing so I uninstalled the firewall while the computer was disconnected from the internet. Then the computer said it had some updates to install. After that the computer rebooted and during the windows loading screen the blue screen of death popped and gave me a 0x0000007b (0xF8C0F528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)I tried using my avast bart cd and it removed a few viruses but the computer still won't boot on its own. I also have a copy of Winternals that might help but i don't know how i could use it to get the virus off. Please help, i don't want to wipe the hard drive. In the infected system, make sure the boot sequence menu is set to boot from the CD-ROM drive...then follow the instructions below. When finished with them, you will return to this non-working system with a bootable CD that will scan the system for malicious software.

Please download Avira Antivir Rescue System.

Insert a blank CD into your CD-ROM drive, double-click on the rescue system package...then click the Burn CD button. When completed, remove the CD and insert it into the non-working operating system. Reboot the computer.

Allow the scan to complete and post back your results. Thanks!

I got a virus yesterday that my pestpatrol picked up, it was Command Services. I sent the 15 registry keys that it was showing me to be deleted by the program, and I ran it again after a few minutes of doing some other stuff and it was there again. I deleted that too. When I switched on the laptop tonight it wouldn't boot up into Windows It kept giving the the screen to boot up into normal mode or Safe mode etc. I let it boot up to normal execept that it WOULDN'T. The screen just kept on doing this over and over and it wouldn't boot up into normal mode. I didn't want to do the safe mode because I am not sure where to go from there if I do. This laptop is new to me, I have had it for about a year now, it's a Sony vio, but the warranty ran out a long time ago.

I need some advice and help and wondered if it was the Command Service that did something to my laptop? Also, since I couldn't use it, I went to my desktop which was clean of viruses the last time I used it about 2 weeks ago.
I did my usual start up virus checks and would you believe it but my pest patrol, picked up the same virus! I was scared to delete them, but I put the keys that it was showing me into Quarantine. I also ran it again and it did exactly the same as my laptop and the virus showed up again with 2 more registry keys, which I also quarantined. I am now too scared to turn off my computer in case it goes like the other did. Please can somebody help me with both my lapt... Read more

Hi, after doing a bit of search i believe my problem is almost exactly like the one dealt with here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic425827.html

The difference is i was updating to firefox 8, when my computer started to slo down considerably and spaz, and i got some false malware looking alerts about damaged hd clusters and an equally fake looking system restore window. my PC was too slow, so i rebooted. I have not been able to use my pc since.

i can not boot into xp under any option, not even safe or 'last good configuration', when i try to it just goes back to Post screen. Trying to boot normaly brings up a blue screen for a split second that u can't read in time, then quikly reboots back to post again.

should i go ahead with the initial instructions in the linked thread above? This was around the same ttime as that was posted, bout a few weeks after. Due to certain reasons i have not gone about a full reformat/reinstall and would prefer an attempt at bringing my PC back up again first. Any help with this work of human inanity would be much appreciated.
More info/EDIT:
I bleieve i had some security holes in my PC for two reasons: i had not recently updated my XP at home after staying out of town for an extended period of time before being prompted for the firefox install (a browser i loathe and will never use again), and i had the XP Anti-Virus 2011 malware beforehand in the summer which i went thru removing, but may hav not completely gotten o... I cannot boot into any of the safe modes, and I've had trouble making a live-usb of kaspersky or dr. web because my only other pc is with mac os x.

Just have a flashing cursor in upper left corner of screen.

Pulled Hard Drive and slaved it and Scanned with Malwarebytes and it found several virus issues....including TDSS

I am assuming that something virus related is interfering with the boot device. Am trying to avoid a windows reinstall.

Anything else I can try before having to resort to a reinstall?

Hi everyone,This is me first post....ok lets get down to the main problem.

Im having much trouble trying to remove very bad trojan hijackers of my vista os.
No matter what i try they keep generating and now has moved over to hijack firefox to..
these are variants of malwarealarm.
I have tried most spyware products and antiviruse software to no avail.
I visited forums and tried there methods but it seem not to work.
these are the .dll files i am trying to get rid of but it seems even in safe mode they cant be removed...
pmnlk.dll is one of them,it sits in my C:\Users\dablakmark8\AppData\Local\Temp,what pees me of is i tried unregistered them before with run\cmd,this did not work at all.my system restore is off,i just cant understand.

firstly i am finished...i deleted registry file containing the keys and .dll files, then i booted into xp and deleted the virus files the .dll file...right
I then booted back into vista ultimate and now the vista does not seem to work, all i get is a black screen with my mouse pointer working,
i tried repair disk of vista and nothing works now, just a black screen with a mouse pointer thats working, and thats it.

i wonder if there is a way to fix vista through xp.like transferring my backup registry of vista to vista through xp
So anyone with any ideas.,well i can use xp still as i have a dual boot.

what are my options
I have used the latest hijack this, but in vista it sometimes do not respond.
i cant go into vista no... Read more

Answer:Vista Wont Boot After Modifying Registry Due To Virus

pmnlk.dll is related to a Vundo/Virtumonde virus. There may be more files that you've missed.I don't know how you have your dual boot XP and Vista set up, but I do know that XP will delete Vista's restore points. It might be necessary for you to reinstall rather than repair your system.

So there are "Helpers" and "Helpees" in here. Right now I'm a "Helpee!" I contracted one of the antivirus viruses. I think it was Antivirus Pro or something. I attempted to remove it and thought it was off my computer so I rebooted in safe mode and it ran great! I backed up a bunch of important files and moved some stuff over to an external. I ran avast and avg which took forever (like 24 hours). Then I tried a normal restart into windows. When it booted up I got the popups saying I was infected and needed to buy their software yada yada yada so I attempted a reboot back into safe mode and NO DICE! I got the BSOD with this error string:0x0000007b (0xF8A4E528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)After much anguish and random forum recommended DOS commands I threw my hands in the air. I went into the repair console, gave it the old Format c: command and that's it. I'm assuming there are some steps I should have taken before doing that but I had really limited ability with the computer. So now I guess I have a blank Hard drive. I can get into repair console but it takes me right to the prompt of C:/> Not C:/>Windows: It told me the NTLDR is Missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart. I gave it the copy e:\I386\NTLDR C:\ and copy e:\I386\netdetect.com c:\ commands but then upon attempting a regular bootup it gave me the boot.ini corrupt attempting boot from windows (something like ... Try this fix taken from John Barnett MVP if this don't work try this link http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/There may be an occasion when you boot up your PC that you receive an error message such as HAL.DLL file is corrupt or missing. In many cases this can simply be a misconfiguration in the Boot.ini file and can easily be corrected by instigating a suitable repair.1/ Place your Windows XP CD into your CD-ROM and Reboot your PC2/ XP's setup program will automatically start and files will be loaded to memory3/When you reach the Welcome to Setup screen choose the Repair option by pressing R4/ This will start the Recovery console and the list of Windows installations will appear5/ As you only have one installation on your PC you need to press the number which is relevant to your installations location. This, obviously will typically be 16/ Type in your Administrator password. If you are using Windows XP Home edition the administrator password is blank by default so simply press Enter7/Now type bootcfg /list8/ A list will now appear of all the entries in your boot.ini file9/ Next type bootcfg /rebuild10/ Your boot.ini file should now be repaired11/ Finally remove your XP CD from the CD-ROM and then type Exit12/ Reboot your machine to see if the the problem has been curedGood Luck !

My system will not boot. I am reading many threads on how to remove the virus, but they all assume you can access windows. I cannot. Is there any hope?

Windows XP
Booting in safemode the system hangs at AVGIDSErhr.sys and continually tries to reboot. Is there anyway to get the system to boot so that I can attempt to remove the virus?

Late last week MS Vista auto-updated SP1. Later that evening, I stupidly clicked on a link that downloaded a hijacker virus. I cannot remember the name of the virus, but I think that it had "bev" somewhere in it. The virus hijacked IE and it brought up porn sites and a dialog box telling me my computer was infected and to press OK to download a malware removal tool (I did not click OK).

I downloaded Spybot and Adaware and neither removed it, but then I tried Smitfraudfix in Safe Mode and I was fine. The next morning it took a long time to get out of sleep mode and instead of 2 accounts for me and administrator, there was only 1 acct showing for me. So I immediately did a full shut down, waited a minute, and restarted. Everything came up normal. Then I went away for the weekend.

This morning, the computer would not come out of sleep mode. I do not know if Vista tried to perform an additional auto-update and got stuck or if it just went into sleep mode and got stuck. But I let the computer run for an hour with the hard drive light on nearly all of the time, but nothing on the screen. I did a complete power off and restarted, but still had the same results - nothing at all on the screen.

I tried it again when I came home from work with the same results. I tried hitting F8, I tried inserting the Vista CD and rebooting, I tried hitting ESC, the Windows Key, etc and nothing happens. THe hard drive light is on constantly. The only thing that looks h... Read more

Hello,

My father called me regarding a notice on his computer that was preventing him from using it. It looked like it was from the Canadian Police and asked him to pay $100 because he had been viewing "illegal materials". I asked him to reboot into safe mode and run Malwarebytes which he did. Now the computer will not boot at all. It gets stuck on a BSOD 0x0000007B. Tried to do a system restore and it fails.I have run FRST 64 bit edition and I have attached the log file to this post. Any assistance would be appreciated as I am now thinking my only option is to start from scratch and install the os from the start.

I cannot run OTL and aswMBR in Normal Mode or Safe Mode because I cannot boot the computer.

Thank you in advance.

OK so weirdest thing, I leaned over my keyboard and my phone fell out and landed on my keyboard and my computer shut down. Now I cant get it to boot. I don't know how my phone falling on my keyboard could shut it down so I'm assuming its a crazy coincidence haha. I've tried everything to try and get it to boot and have had no luck, I don't know what to do and am hoping someone on here might have some ideas. I've tried booting one hard drive at a time, I've checked all connections on the back and inside the case, heck i even pulled all the components out and put them all back in haha. I hit power and I just get a blank screen, no bios, no beeps, nothing

Question: Computer wont boot

My old Dell Precision 330 started having a problem after connecting to the internet. Specs are:Intel P4 1.50GHz512 Ram (I think)Promise Ultra 100 PCI IDE controller ( for HDD3 and HDD4)ATI Radeon 9600 Video CardNEC 4 port hub 2.0Generic Firewire card56 K Generic modemHDD1: 120 Gb HDD2: 15 GbHDD3: 8GbHDD4: 4GbDVD ReaderCd Burner330 Watt PWSupplyWindows XP ProfessionalThis computer worked fine, it had all my music, games, movies, pictures etc, but after connecting to ther internet through DSL on my onboard NIC, it lagged a bit, and after checking my mail, web surfing, etc, it slowed down and half an hour into using it it froze. I restart, and then, sum of all fears. It gives me a message "Invalid System Disk" and something else. I remove all disks and still gives me the same message. I check the BIOS and all my drives say "Unknown". but detects my drives that are connected through the PCI IDE controller. I dont know what is wrong, my guess is a virus but I cant do much despite the fact that I cant even go into safe mode. any ideas on how to fix this problem?? I really need this computer back for school, and all my iTunes stuff is in there, cant aford to loose it. thx

Hi BC and BC users,

A friend of mine recently gave me her computer to fix and I told her I would try everything I could. This is what I know so far.

-- It will not boot normally, only in safe mode.
-- When I booted into safe mode I ran a scan and found 6 viruses some adware issues and a "misleading application" Norton removed all of these.
-- A friend of hers tried to fix her computer and was, "deleting registry files" because according to him even though he doesn't know much about computers it's "easy to tell what doesn't belong". Yeah, not so much.
-- I do not have her XP home disk but I do have a copy of XP professional that she can have.
-- When I try and boot normally I get a few error messages such as, "Windows failed to log you on with the selected user so has logged you on with the default user" or something close to that. I only had 30 seconds to remember it and with no writing utensils I was SOL. the message continues to say "DETAIL: Windows lacked sufficient resources to perform that action" or something similar.
-- At this point of logging in the screen just stays the color of the login screen and nothing happens. No crash. just nothing.
--There are a few other messages that I haven't been able to recreate since, including something about, "Parser Error: Value ?? 422" or something similar.
