I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: how Can I plug camera to asus f5r

Most cameras can connect to most computers through a USB cord with a mini or micro USB connector on one end and come with software to help you manage your photos (or download from website). See your manual or online manual. With the info you supplied, that is about all I can tell you.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I just reloaded my Windows XP professional SP3 on a fresh hard drive because of issues in which a windows update crashed my boot file and computer went into a boot loop. Anyway that is not the problem.

In the past, when I plugged in a USB device, whether it be a thumbdrive or a camera the device was automatically recognized and a window popped up asking what I wanted to do. the choices were things like; do you want to view the files? Do you want to download to a folder on your computer? Do you want to open pictures with windows picture and fax viewer? Etc.

Now if I plug in my camera windows recognizes it as a Sony camera and the model but I do not get the prompt of what to do.

I believe it is just a setting but I am not finding it and when I try to open camera and fax wizard manually it says the device is not connected.

How do I change these settings.

Answer:Camera plug and play settings

Answer:Plug&Play digital camera not recognised

It?s a persistent error. It happens every time I?m plugging in to my laptop my Olympus camera VR-310 using USB ports.
I can?t understand and find in Internet what?s the cause of it. Previously all worked fine. But then I updated BIOS to the latest version and now can?t use the camera. And probably this error is in no connection with the BIOS updates.

Here is the archive file with data. Please, help to identify the problem: what it causes, what driver to remove, what driver to update.

Hello,

I'm experiencing problems when I plug in my sony DSC s-70 camera (via usb) to my computer. I'm running Windows XP home. I had been using the camera for months with Windows XP with no problems, but 2 days ago (after I installed a service pack update that I downloaded from mircosoft) Windows begin to recognize the camera as a "new device" every time I plug it in to my usb port. I get the "new hardware found" message and then the camera wizard pops up. Before I have time enough to click on the camera wizard and dowload photos the computer automatically reboots. I have tried switching usb ports, closing out the "new hardware detected" message, not using the wizard to download photos, but I cannot stop the system from rebooting a few seconds after I plug in the camera. I'm trying to avoid a reformat, but I don't know of a way to remove the service pack I installed, and I'm not familiar with any way of defeating plug and play while still being able to download photos via usb. Any ideas? Thank you

Answer:I plug in Sony DSC Camera, Win XP home shuts off

You can remove the patch from the add/remove programs panel. Also try reinstalling the camera software again.

Cheers

Say when you connect a USB cable to your computer, the XP Pro OS should recognize that a new connection is established and automatically download the photos.

What if that didn't happen all of a sudden? As in the plug and play stop recognizing the camera? Any idea?

Step 1:

Download, install and run the autoplay Repair Wizard:

Welcome to TSG.

If I were you, I would click on the REPORT button, lower right hand side of your first post, and when the next window opens up on your screen,
request that a moderator move your thread to another forum, such as the Hardware Forum.
This forum is more for folks to get together and socialize, so you will probably find more help over there in the Hardware area.Click to expand...

please ignore the above advice, since while I was answering your first post, one of our speedy moderators actually moved your post over to the Hardware Forum. Sorry for the confusion

That said, I would start by plugging in my charger unit, before I booted up the laptop, at least until I found out what was causing the freezing issue.

Good luck with your problem!

Hi i just bought this mobo and added an 8800 gtx and I have to say that I'm not so impressed with the performance. Although I've done no real benchmarking My games seem to have artifacts like #'s or letters flicker and jump. The manual says to use the EZ-Plug for sli, But this card is awfully power hungry. Does anyone think this might help or would the risk outweigh the reward. Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated

So last Friday my computers Hard drive died, i replaced it the same day. however, my Geforce 7300 gt graphics card was not working while reformatting the new drive. I later found out that i needed to unplug the Graphics card form my computer so i did so. I turned off my computer, unplugged the power cord form power system, changed the switch form - to O to make sure no more power was coming in, and made sure i was grounded unplugged the card form my computer. soon after the on board card started to respond and i was successfully able to format and install windows XP to my hard drive. After doing so i quickly installed all my drivers necessary for the my computer. However it has been a while and what i believe was my AGP diver was not needed this time around for the update. Which is weird because if i remember correctly a year ago when i had to reformat last i had to install the diver. Anyways I then wanted to start using my old graphics card again so i repeated the process above turning off the computer, making use all the power cords were off and unplugged and plugged my graphics card back in and into the appropriate AGP slot. It my monitor became unresponsive to the graphics card ( yes the connector to the graphics card is working fine and was plugged into the graphics card not the on broad one). So i had no other choice but to turn off my computer and take out the card again the same way i had done before hand. I started searching Google for answers came here with a few ... Read more

Scrub the drivers / installation related to the device completely and attempt a reinstall of the drivers fresh again.

Barring that you may have to actually deal with ASUS they've been kind of hit and miss with proper support for 7... at least that's been my personal experience with them.

...I'm jaded though you may want to wait for another opinion.

I have an Asus U50A that I got at Best Buy the day before Thanksgiving. It works perfectly except the webcam will not work. Every application I try, including the Asus Lifeframe Utility states the camera is in use or has some unknown error. The only time it works is when using the Express Gate utility, which is a preboot utility allowing me to use skype. I have uninstalled lifeframe, asus virtual camera, and the camera driver. After uninstalling all of these and reinstalling, the problem persists. The light goes off when the comp is locked but the second you log in again the webcam light turns back on. I searched through the processes and nothing obviously controlling a webcam appeared to be active and no start up utilities appear to be involved. I figure it must be some Windows 7 utility but I have no idea what.

Answer:Asus Camera Problem

Hi -

What is the date on the webcam driver? Did you go to Asus site and see if an updated driver is available?

am using Asus n61jv, i bought it since 2010, ihave been suffering from this problem for three years... but finally i've managed to make the web cam work!!!
In one word this problem is a mechanical problem caused by the manufacture and it has nothing with other softwares or updates.. what i did was so simple, i've squeezed the area around the camera jus before running the program (in my case i've run lifeframe3 and smartlogon manager) and keep squeezing untill the camera start to show and then leave it, for most of cases camera wont stop by it's own, but if it did then simply close the program, squeeze and run again. i know it's sound annoying a liitle bit but it is better than no camera at all !!
I hope this will work for you all and good luck

neverr happend before pics used to be as they are clicked! I dont know whats even wrong. please help! help needed.

Answer:pics have started flipping by the front camera. in the normal camera as well as in the lumia camera!

I'm sorry... Could you join the site and reply in this thread with more detail...
I'm having a hard time understanding what "flipping" means in that title. Does it mean you are stuck on the front camera and can't use the rear? What exactly is going on there?

So I've happily stayed with Lenovo for a number of years - I have a laptop power supply in almost each room of my house and in back pack. That's a total of six. My Yoga 13 is on order, but I'm getting cold feet:  I'd really like to not have to buy 5 new power adaptors for a total of 12 Lenovo power adapters, 6 round, 6 blocky, given that I for some reason I still usually have to walk to the next room to retrieve one of my six adapters that seem to randomly migrate between places under the bed, behind the water closet, tugged under the desk, and so... Is there (yet?) a  fantastically simple plug converter, round (female)  to blocky (male), that will attach with a strap to the end of the 20V cable of my existing converters so that each can serve both blocky and round needing Lenovo devices? I image each plug would cost $1 and that Lenovo would sell a bag of 10 of 'em for $10 as part of the customer loyalty program? /Lenovski

Answer:Are my many Lenovo power adapters (w. round plug) compatible with Yoga 13 through plug converter?

There no plug converters, and the Yoga power plug is not compatible with previous Lenovo power adapter plugs.

Bought Y410 for daughter a few years ago.  She called the other day and said the DC receiver plug was loose and she could not plug in to charge battery or work on house current.  Opened cover above processor and cooling fan and found that the plug was just laying in the proper position but was not connected to anything to hold it in place.  No broken parts, just loose.  Removed fan and copper tubing with fins (heatsink) and removed masking tape and removed wire sleeve (2 red and 2 black bundled wires) from canal track under the cooling fan.  I then was able to lift the Y410 dc power jack harness out of the laptop.  My question is:  how was this connector end mounted and stabilized in the socket mount next to the hole where the charger plug mates with the inside harness.  I see nothing broken, and it will fit back in its location, but there is nothing to hold it in place!  Was it glued in some form or fashion.  This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen.  There is no bracket or no screw holes that look as if there was something holding this connector in place.  My daughter has been very pleased with this laptop, but this problem had me scratching my head.  Any help would be appreciated.  I thought I would find something searching the net about this problem.  Found many consumers having major problems with internal charging plugs connection in all brands.  Bought ... Answer:DC Internal Plug in a 3000 Y410 5575 now moving can't plug in to charge

Yeah, it's the way they are manufactured. Actually, all laptops are this way. It's so that if the plug needed servicing, it can be fixed quickly in the facility. Now, for getting it fixed. If you feel comfortable with a soldering iron, it's a really easy fix. Just hold the jack in place, and apply a little bit of solder to re-attach. Being the person I am, I would put a dash of super glue to hold it in place. But not until I verify that the power outlet is working. Now, if the power plug is fried, there are always similar jacks that you can find on auction sites for cheap that will do the job. But yes, resoldering it should fix it. And the lack of mounting is standard across all brands and makes.

I verified the PSU is good.
I removed all drives, all cards, even memory.
All the fans spin for a moment then nothing they stop.

I assume the MB is now destroyed? A GTX 260 has two 6 pin power connectors, since the PSU only had one 6 pin power connector, I thought to try it.

MB is Asus P5QC
So is it dead?

Answer:Plug in GTX 260, hooked up one 6 pin power plug, motherboard wont post

Did you read the GTX 260 manual to see if it has to have the two connectors on?
This is an old MB, so it has a story. Tell us how did you get it and what memory, GPU etc it has before.
With no memory it won't boot. Do you have a speaker connected to the MB so you can hear the beeps when you turn it on?
Witch power supply you have? GTX 260 requires 500W as minimum.

I have an almost fresh install of xp on my desktop and want to avoid cluttering the hard drive with stuff to slow it down. One of the things I have noticed is that media players seem to reproduce like rabbits...media player comes with windows...then some website will say that it can't live without having real player installed...and then another one...my favorite is VLC...and of course, itunes....

I noticed that there is a plug-in to make Firefox work with VLC I think there are also other plug-ins for other media players as well. What exactly do these things do? If I have the plug-in do I have to install the software? Do they improve the ease of use of the media player? the quality of the sound? do they reduce the cpu load?

Answer:[SOLVED] Plug it in, plug it in...and media players

Media plugins allow the browser to play audio and video files in different formats on websites.

They are not all in use at the same time (just called on when needed by a website's embedded media player), so they don't slow down your computer or fill up your hard drive.

So currently I have my PC connected to the printer with a USB cable and my 10 year old printer works just fine. I'm turning my desktop into a wireless desktop for the time being and going to install a WiFi pci card in the tower. Once I get my computer connected online wireless. So if I take the printer USB cable from the back of the PC tower and plug it into the back of the router will the printer work right away or do I have to setup the printer within the routers 192.... page ? or will I have to install any extra router software programs on the PC to get the printer to work ? I'm just wondering what my steps will be.

Answer:So if I plug my printer to my router will it be plug&play ?

It really depends on your router. Some routers do have that functionality and are "smart" enough to realize what to do with a printer attached via USB ports. Some may require you to configure it on the router's setup, and others may not let you network your printer at all that way. You should probably count yourself lucky if your router does it at all... my router has USB ports, but they're basically only good for charging a phone... they planned a firmware update to do more with them, but it never came through.

The most foolproof way to network a printer is to get a model with an Ethernet port or a Wi-Fi card built into the printer that's just designed for networking. Any computer on the network will then "see" the printer and be able to install drivers for it without the router having to be smart. Failing that, you might have to plug the printer's USB cable into a computer of some kind... but the catch is, it doesn't have to be very powerful or large. A $5 Pi Zero or a $30 "print server" off Newegg would do the job. Basically, any old computer lying around with USB ports could most likely work as a print server if it can be configured with CUPS and the appropriate version of Samba.

Yesterday when I turned on my computer I received a message inviting me to install a new update to Java (Version 7 Update 25). After doing a precautionary search via Google that this was a legitimate update, I proceeded with the installation process. At the time I was using the Firefox browser (although I also use IE 9). At the end of the process I received a prompt at the bottom of the Firefox browser asking me to install the Java Plug-in. I then visited the "Verify Java Version" page which confirmed that I had the recommended version of Java installed (Version 7 Update 25). As Java recommend that users should uninstall older versions of Java from their computer, I ran the Java Uninstall Tool, but that confirmed that there were no older versions of Java on my computer.

I then opened IE9 but when I went to the same web page to verify my Java version I got a pop-up message saying that"Java plug-in 10.25.2 is not installed properly. When you have the main camera switched on the main screen you will notice 3 dots, tap on that to access settings and in that you have to tap front camera to get access the front cam.
For the torch if you swipe right from the main screen select your torch app and in that you will find a switch icon to turn flash on and off.

Hello there. A few months ago, I upgraded to windows 10, but haven't been using skype for a while until very recently. I noticed that before I updated it from windows 10, my camera was working fine (on windows 8). However, now my camera won't work as it is grayed out. I did some research, and the cause of this is the camera shifted to privacy mode during the update. However, whenever I go to Lenovo Settings (the app used to turn on/off privacy mode) I get a message that tells me: "Please update or install the Lenovo System Interface Driver for full functionality of settings, then restart the app after installation." After going on the website and downloading the latest driver, I still get that message on Lenovo Settings (it is on a loop). This means that I cannot change shift privacy mode for my camera to off, as I need my driver to be up to date to get full access to Lenovo Settings. Is there a way I can fix the update loop? Is there another way to turn off privacy mode another way? Thank you.

Answer:Can't get intergrated laptop camera out of privacy mode (camera grayed out on skype)

Did you find a solution? I have the same problem 'Privacy' button keeps appearing for a second but before I have a chance to click on it, it disappears?!?!?! Please help, anyone who may be reading this.

Already tried reinstalling driver, enabling permissions etc. If I remember correctly this problem started after the fall creators update. When the camera is used the white led does blink, even though an image doesn't show. Hello, Recently purchased a T61 with the embedded web cam.  The notebook comes with "Lenovo Camera Center" software (which is more like a portal for camera-related software) but there is no useful software that enables me to actually use the camera - for example, to record clips or take a snapshot with it.  Nor can I figure out where to get such software.  I signed up for Skype and the camera works fine in that context.  But other than that, I am at a loss.  Why did this T61 not come with some basic software to use the camera?  Or is this an issue with Vista? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Best security camera via network?

I have a client who's moving to a new building and they want to set up a security camera system where they could check it via their web browser. Any ideas on what equipment is good? I'm guessing anything with a dedicated Ethernet connection (I'm trying to stay away from wireless, since that stuff goes down faster and more often than my best friend's sister) would be best. Any special equipment that you guys like or have used in the past?

What about an offsite camera w/ no Internet access? They also do construction work at different locations (ie. new buildings; additional construction; etc.) where there is NO Internet access. Is there any way to install cameras there and have them be able to check it remotely? I'm guessing no... unless, of course, they "borrow" Internet access from someone close by (and by "borrow", I actually mean obtain permission and pay for it).

Finally... I have a 2nd client who has a 4-story building with a number of tenants. He wants to install a security camera by the front door. He would also like to view it via the Internet. So, I'm guessing this would have the same solution as part 1 of the problem above?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I think I'm finding more and more of a market for security systems that will be accessible via the Net. And, of course, I'm not kidding myself... I tell them that a STATIC IP and a DEDICATED li... Read more

Answer:Best security camera via network? What about an offsite camera w/ no Internet access?

I used a DLink netcamera for my grandfathers house for a few months, wasnt bad at all.
Had a cable internet connection (with DHCP, not static)
- setup a router and had it do DHCP (ip's 192.168.1.145 to .150
- setup the camera with a static IP 192.168.1.99
- setup the port forwarding (port 80) to the cameras IP
- setup the router to update a DynDNS account with the current IP

At home I would just open IE and type in the DynDNS address and would get the cameras admin pages with the video, not overly fast over the internet, but I could see the trees blowing in the wind.
In the end I went through the steps on the DLink site to create a web page with the video enbedded in it, so I could open it and get the video, minus any admin pages (mom liked this better)

Got a new Canon camera which uses its own program to download pictures to the computer (Gateway MX6930) running XP (sp3) and have had no problems. Tried to download some pics from my older Sony camera which used to bring up the Camera Wizard allowing me to title each shot with a name and number but that no longer happens. I plug in the Sony (USB cable) and nothing. It shows up on Explore and right clicking does not get me to the Scanner and Wizzard start-up screen that would allow me to select the photos I want and to name them as they are put on the hard drive. When I search through Scanners & Cameras and click on "Add an imaging device" the "Scanner & Camera Installation Wizzard" starts but Sony is not listed so I cannot select it. I can click on "Have Disk" but the CD that came with the Sony does not have the file it needs. The only thing on the CD (besides photo programs) is a USB driver which I did download but didn't help...... HOWEVER I have had MS Word refuse to start a week or so ago and I tried reinstalling but didn't work, I found an MS site that showed me how to repair the Word registry and that worked OK. This makes me suspect - maybe something has happened to the registry. I can't go there so I decided to ask for your help.... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

(Edit - Subject should read 'Microsoft Camera Wizard does not work anymore with Canon digital camera')

I have a Canon SD 700 IS digital camera bought about 15 months ago. Until recently, I could connect it to the USB port (same one each time and that port is not used for anything else) of my Windows XP PC (1 year old, bought new) and the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard would appear allowing me to use that software to transfer my digital pictures to my PC. Now, that does not work. I tried reinstalling the Canon EOS utility that came on a CD with my camera - no success in getting pictures transferred with that. The only way I can get the pictures to transfer, is to open Windows Explorer, the camera shows up under My Computer, but if I right click on Get pictures highlighting the camera listing, after multiple trys and 30 minutes, I get the few dozen pictures to transfer.

Anyone know what to try? I am suspecting it has to do with a recent overhall of my PC anti-spyware and security software (details below) as was using Lavasoft and Spybot before and found them becoming less effective. My computer is anti-malware free as far as I know from anti-spyware scans with multiple products (at least twice weekly) and real-time protection and anti-virus scans a little less frequently which Zone Alarm has never from day one found any viruses.

The computer is recognizing the camera in the USB port (it is enabled) and camera powered on and has no issues when taking pictures.... Read more

Hello all

I could really tell a long story here of all the issues I have been dealing with and could provide if requested, but to make this a bit shorter, can we now not just plug and unplug a USB 3.0 drive like we used to with 2.0?

All in all I seem to have really screwed up the USB 3.0 part of several machines with doing this and in thinking it was something else, but all seems to be related to the OS from just randomly unplugging the USB connection as when I do it a few times, and even had it happen once, and especially if its connected say as a network drive or something full time like that, the whole USB 3.0 system of the OS seems to get irreparably damaged. IE, redoing any outside drivers & software is not it as the only way I have been able to fix this is a drive zero out and OS rebuild.

All in all I know you are really supposed to eject the drives to do this safely, but I have plugged and unplugged 2.0 drives in every wrong way you can think of, and at least never ruined the OS's ability to use one again.

Thanks for any help

Answer:Can we not just plug/un-plug USB 3.0 drives like we did with 2.0?

I use the Safely Remove Hardware with my 3.0, the same as I do with 2.0's and Flash Drives.

Depending on the status or what is or has happened, just unplugging can corrupt the Windows status. When this happens, usually (but not all) you can get it back by reconnecting the device, go to the Device Manager and it will usually show an unknown device in the USB. Uninstall the unknown device in the Device Manager, physically disconnect the device, restart Windows. Then you can connect it and Windows should reinstall it, etc. This procedure is for any USB device that's status gets corrupted.

One of my T410 customers has lost the camera lens cover, and wants to know whether it affects camera function or is just a protective cover. I have a digital camera with Window's XP. Originally, when I turned the camera on, it would launch a wizard to transfer the files.

Lately (maybe since I installed SP1), it doesn't recognize the camera as picture files, but as a removable drive. I have changed this setting in the drive properties, but the setting won't stay so something must be overriding it.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the camera, but the same thing happens.

A new program called "safely remove hardware" might possibly be involved, but I can't find any settings there to change that might impact this. I'm not sure where this came from unless it was part of SP1.

Any help out there?

So the original camera works, but others don't work correctly? At first I thought it would be a hardware problem with your camera button being unable to cancel the circuit. They say you can plug two webcams into it and then view them from the internet with out using a computer. The adapter plugs right into your internet with out the use of a computer. So the big question is, has anyone used this type of thing before and does anyone now how to use it? Can it work with any webcam or can it only work with some? I want to buy it from these guys at www.LDUcompany.com and I would also like to know if anyone has bought from them before? This is in thier computer accessories section but the direct link to the adapterishttp://www.liangdianup.com/inventory/169928.htmI think this is alot cheaper then buying two IP web cameras but I want to learn more about how it works. Any help would be appreciated

I updated to the latest drivers for Intel AVStream Camera on my tablet / laptop. After the update, only the front camera works now.

Hope someone can help solve this problem.

Thanks,

Vic

Answer:Front camera working but main (rear) camera is not

Can anyone help me?
I've tried updating my camera drivers in device manager, uninstalling the camera and booting windows 10 again...to no avail. Still no main camera....only the front camera works.
Does the rear camera need seperate drivers? How do I check this?

Thanks again.

Does anybody know for sure if the T520 without (factory-installed) integrated camera already has the camera cable installed behind the display? This way I can just get a camera kit and add the camera myself. If the cable is missing I would not touch it, tough.. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Answer:T520 without integrated camera - camera cable built-in?

Yes.  You need just the camera and the sticker for the bezel with the hole for the camera to see out.

I can t find camera under imaging device under device manager, i have installed latest driver, it doesnot work,It looks like miss something from Bus controller??????

Answer:HELP!!!Can't find camera under imaging device!!!! Camera not working

Hi Nicholas,Welcome to the forum! There is no camera software included with the operating system, to use camera features like to take snaps or record videos etc. you would need to install software like Yawcam to establish this. Please also describe your problem with clarity. Tell us which SL series thinkpad you have? Which OS is it running? have you been install new OS lately etc.The above suggestion is only based on my assumption. Hope it helps.

Also, when you launch camera app, which camera comes on first? If you change that to rear in the camera app, does that make a difference in your program?

I have a Lumia 930/icon with the latest wp 10 preview. By every single update brings me worse and worse surprises in camera app. I think I don't need to explain what's the problem if you use it. My question is, how can I use the original Lumia camera app or can I remove the microsoft camera app?

Answer:How can I back to Lumia camera from windows/microsoft camera?

Not sure what problems you're facing with the default Windows camera on WM10 but currently Lumia camera 5 does not work with WM10. You can use Lumia Camera Classic or Lumia Camera Beta instead.

I have a Kodak SD camera card that my Sony A230 stopped detecting when inserted. I have been using this card for a year with no problems till today. I can plug it in a card reader in any of my computers and remove or send photos to it so I don't think it is a contact issue. I was using the camera today when the battery became exhausted and it shut off during a shoot. Since then the camera won't detect it. What could the problem be?

Answer:Camera Card Not Detected in Sony A230 Camera

Just a wild guess at this point ... Might need to have the camera reformat the card

Hi, I'm having trouble with my digital camera software and/or transferring pictures from my camera and dock to pc. I have a Kodak cx7525 digital camera. The software loads normally, but when trying to open the software or trying to transfer pictures to the pc, I get an error message that states a .dll file is missing. The dll file is LOCACQMOD.DLL. I contacted kodak and they sent me new software but that didn't help, still get the same error message. The camera works fine but cannot get the software and camera to work on pc. I have searched for the dll file but cannot find it and have no idea what it is or what it does. I'm guessing something is missing from the pc instead of the camera software. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have family photos stored on it that I would love to be able to save them and not lose them. Again, thanx for any help I can get. You guys and gals are the best.

Hi,

I recently purchased a digital camera for ordinary use with my pc. Everything seemed great until it was time to connect the camera to the pc - directions: "connect the USB end to any USB port on your pc" I have a reason to believe I don't have a USB port.

I know I must clarify that my computer is extremely outdated by today's standards. It has Windows 95 and is about 5 years old.

My main problem:
I have a digital camera with no way of transmitting my pictures to my pc for viewing and sharing.

I did some research. Along with my camera I have a 32 MB memory card. I went to the site prescribed by my digital camera manual and I found this:

http://www.dcprodirect.com/new/inde...hotosmart+318&searching=&searchfor=&AccId=525

By chance, would I be able to put the memory card with my pictures on it into this card reader and would it work? It says it is compatible with Windows 95.

The type of dig. camera I have is an HP Photosmart 318.

I am extremely grateful for any tips or help anyone has to offer. Thanks a million!

I have Windows XP with service pack 2. My computer has ceased to recognise my camera automatically, using the windows Scanner & Camera Wizard. I have tried to add it as an Imaging Device, by opening the Control Panel ? Scanners & Cameras and clicking on ?Add an imaging device?. (I do not have an installation disc for the camera.) Despite the camera being switched on and connected to my PC, I get this Error Message:- ?The Computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please make sure the device is turned on and properly connected to the computer." I am still able to view my pictures, because ?Camera (F:) is added to my PC under ?Devices with Removable Storage?, but this method is not as satisfactory. Is there a means of remedying this problem, so that the camera is detected by the Scanner & Camera wizard? Roy Branson

Answer:Scanner & Camera Wizard not detecting camera

try removing in device manager re booting and see if pc will then pick up new hardware.johnny.
