Preferred Solution: Missing W7 Fonts stopped Turbotax installatio

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Re: turbotax missing 2008 file

If you think it is somewhere on your hard drive try searching for a file name containing tax2008. That is the default file name extension used when I saved my Turbo Tax (Deluxe) file last year. Be sure to search in all hidden and non-indexed locations

On three PCs inj the office, all newer machines of various brands running Windows XP.
One machine has lots and lots of fonts isntalled thanks to it being the graphics guy. The other, has no fonts installed other than what came with Windows - its the shipping machine. The third is baaically being used as a print server for one of the big color printers we have. People start the print job on there.
I tried replacingf the font files TTF same thing. one of the fonts that doesn't work is raavi.ttf.
I don't understand... what the heck happened?
I need to get this fixed because customers want specific fonts for print jobs and there can be NO substitute.

Answer:Key Fonts Stopped working

You'll have to install the font on all computers that what's to use it, if it's only this particular font that doesn't work then there isn't much you do except try and download it again off another site if the file is corrupted.

I would start by changing the explorer setting to not download fonts automatically if it is set that way. Then its a matter of deleting the bad fonts and replacing the ones that are missing.

Just recently I have been unable to select different fonts. When I click the pop down menu I am only given a choice of Courier 10cpi. My default font is showing as Times New Roman when it should be Arial. I have tried clearing formats but this has not helped. All my fonts are however showing in the fonts section of Control Panel. Where am I going wrong?

Question: Fonts All Missing

When I turned on my computer this afternoon I find that windows is displaying a font I cannot read. Last night my computer was fine when I shut down then now all the fonts are missing from the fonts folder. I saw someone else had this problem on here and I tried installing the fonts again but when I put the fonts into the folder they install fine. The problem is when I look back into the folder they disappear again. I rebooted and the problem is still there. I am not sure if a virus or trojan is making this happen but its really annoying not being able to read anything.

Here is a screenshot to show the font it shows. http://img245.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled1copycv2.jpg

Thanks I hope someone can figure this problem out for me.

Question: Fonts missing!!!

Here's the deal. A while ago I decided to make a backup on the fonts installed in my system. So I went to Windows\Fonts and drag&drop to another disk.

Normal Windows behaviour would be to copy files (since directories were in different disks). But as it was the "special" Fonts folder Windows decided to move them out. The result was simple ... Windows misconfigured the default fonts.

My problem now is ... when I open an application let's say Adobe Photoshop ou Macromedia Dreamweaver (any application almost) the font used to display application specific text on the screen isn't the default (the aplication goes to the operating system to get the default font wich Windows as replaced by another!) so I end up with a box of properties of an aplication with alot of options which isn't resisable and because of the change in the font I can't see all the options!

It isn't application specific because it happens with applications installed after that problem occurred and the result is the same.

I have already reinstalled the fonts. No change.

Does anyone know how to restore the original "behavior" of Windows XP (the defaults on fonts)?

Anyone? =)

That's in italics because it wasn't typed by me. However, I do have the same problem. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Question: Missing Fonts

Hi

I'm using XP with Office 2000. All my fonts have disappeared, leaving only three (device font 10cpi, 12cpi and 17cpi) -- I haven't seen them for a while!!

The machine recently had a virus, successfully (I think) removed by a consultant.

Any ideas gratefully received

Lars

Answer:Missing Fonts

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Use the Repair Office option. It should detect and repair the fonts.

When Setup is run for the 2nd or subsequent times the menu is displayed in Maintenance Mode. This will provide the usual add/remove features and Remove Office options. There is also a Repair Office option to allow you to restore Office 2000 to its original state in the case of problems with the current installation.

Detect and Repair option will automatically find and fix errors with non critical files such as fonts/templates. The original installation disc must be available. This command reinstalls files that are missing or corrupted.

Question: Fonts go missing

Windows 98SE MS Office 2000

Have recently installed MS Office 2000 - a full install. Sometimes when I am working say in Word, and using the Help Section, a message comes up saying a particular thing is not installed and to put in the appropriate Disk to install.

After I have done this I noticed that my fonts have nearly all disappeared leaving only a very scrappy selection. I did a Font Repair (TweakUI) once and used GoBack another time so I can usually get things back to normal but I am wondering what is causing this and if it can be avoided. I have only just put it together that it happens every time I have put the disk in to install something that was for some reason not installed during the original install.

The missing fonts are missing in every application, not just MS Office.

Thanks

Lyn

Question: win98 installatio

I hope someone can advise on my installation problem as I am really stuck. This message is from a friends pc. While doing a complete re-install of win98 you go through the scan part. I have an almost new second hd - "E" - which windows says has a corrupted file and insists on trying to fix it. It then does nothing so you start again and again and again and the same thing happens each time. I do have a few files on E hd but surely win98 installs on C hd.Please HelpThanksSmokeyone

Answer:win98 installatio

Use Fdisk to completely remove all partions and logical drives, re-create them and install again, or why not just remove the offending disk until you have Win 98 set up and running and then reconnect it and fdisk to create an extended dos partition and logical drives on it afterwards.

Hi ya'll.
I have a real mess. All of the text on my windows XP home are showing in symbolic text. I can not do any system changes, because I can not read the descriptions. When I run my browser or email program all is fine. Using firefox and thunderbird. All cap type is fine, but lower case font is in some symbolic font. Quite some time ago, I set the option to use a set of fonts that makes viewing more clear. I don't remember what it was called. This has been working for at least a year.

I had a power bump while the computer was unattended. I don't have a UPS, but I do have surge protection. There was a hard reboot and the system came up with the weird fonts. I really don't want to re-install and lose all the work that I have done over the years.

Any help will be appreciated.

Answer:Install New Fonts Missing

That Desktop.ini is supposed to be there, and says exactly what it's supposed to say.

Come to think of it, I don't see Install New Fonts on my old 98 machine, either. You don't need Install New Fonts, anyway.

Unzip your Math fonts to another folder. All the font files should have font extensions (fon, ttf, ...). Copy the font files into Windows\Fonts. Reboot. They're installed.

Try it and see. (I'm assuming you know these are genuine font files and that your source is a reliable source. You're not going to copy anything that might be garbage into your Windows folder, are you? Good. I didn't think so.)

A client of mine discovered a problem I have never seen before.

She has a Dell Notebook computer running Win XP and MS Office XP.

Although many fonts have been installed on her computer, the only MS office app that "sees" them is Excel. Word and PowerPoint show only ariel font.

I have re-installed MS Office on this machine, but the problem is not fixed.

Can anyone offer a suggestion, fix or insight to this problem?

Answer:Fonts missing in MS Office XP

As an experiment, I tried to install MS Office on another computer (HP notebook) using the same CD. No problem with fonts.

It seems strange that fonts pass through to Excel, but not Word or PowerPoint on her system. Since re-installing MS Office does not solve the problem, I would doubt that re-installing XP would be the fix. Re-installing XP would require considerable time, since I would need to re-install her other apps. Suppose I reformat her hard disk, reinstall everything and many hours later we discover the problem still exists? Can I bill her for my time? I don't think so.

It seemed to delete my Fonts folder and all my fonts went away. After I restarted everything came up in symbols but i managed to download most of the fonts back through my Windows XP cd by playing around with the "Regional and Language Options" thing in control panel. I still seem to have many fonts missing and things are in those fonts usually come out in small italics or arial and its really annoying.

I have a fairly fresh installation of Firefox 2.0.0.4 (no Extensions, simple preference changes like download folder and whatnot - no changes to font preferences) on a new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.4.10. The OS has not been modified significantly, and particularly, no changes have been made to any fonts and no fonts have been installed.

But for some reason, when I visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet, roughly half of the characters in each of the consonant and vowel charts are displayed as question marks. I have Googled this issue and found no useful information for this particular problem, and I have also posted on the Firefox support forum but I haven't gotten a useful response and I'm beginning to suspect it isn't Firefox. EDIT: See below

The page shows up fine on my WinXP desktop (in Firefox 2.0.0.4), and also on the Macs on my university campus (also running Firefox 2.0.0.4). It is only on the MBP that I have an issue. Looking at the Firefox preferences on the university's Macs, they are all using what appears to be default font prefs. Moreover, they are all fonts that come standard with OS X 10.4. Based on this and the types of FAQs and troubleshooting responses out there, I am quite sure I should not have to download new fonts to get fairly standard (that is, non-obscure) Unicode character support.

Given that, was there some Firefox configuration thing that I missed? Do I have a corrupt font? Or what is going on he... Read more

Answer:missing fonts during office installation

I think you have a better chance of cleaning the CD - perhaps a light wipe over with some toothpaste - than you have of finding spy and ad ware free fonts on the net. Mayvbe you could poach them from a friend running any version of Office. I think I'm right in saying any fonts you add to the list in Control Panel will be recognised in Office but please be wary of downloading fonts.

Did a complete install of MS-Office 2003 Professional w/ SP1 on my new PC (WinXP/SP3). Worked fine for first two weeks, then began getting "unexpected error, needs to close" messages in Word and Publisher.

Ran detect/repair. Crashing has stopped; however some of the Publisher fonts have disappeared.

Example: Ransom-note style Publisher font "earwig factory". I created a document using it on this PC two weeks ago. When I open document now, font selection window still shows "earwig factory"; however actual font displayed is Veranda. When I click on the drop-down font menu, I get a message of "font is not available, do you want to use it anyway?"

Microsoft knowledge base has been no help. Any ideas on how to reload this missing font? (and no, I'm not doing a ransom note -- just a publication for a client who wants this style LOL)

Answer:Missing Office 2003 Fonts

I believe you should be able to find the fonts folder on the installation CD/DVD. Either navigate on the installation disk until you find the fonts folder, or do a search (location: the installation disk, of course) for "*.ttf" without the quotes. Once you find the missing fonts on the Office installation disk that you wish to reinstall, copy and paste those files into the Fonts folder (located in Control Panel, easiest to find in Classic View). If Windows asks if you want to install those fonts, of course tell it yes.

I have never had problems attaching files before, I used to use XP firewall but decided to get a standalone firewall after reading a few threads. Is this new program stopping my attachments? Ive looked at the exceptions, theres only one there (microsoft update). Do I have to add firefox as an exception? I dont get any firewall alerts, I dont get asked if i want to add an exception (like XP used to do sometimes)it just flashes up "connection timed out" the second I click on "attach files". Did clean install of Win 7 64x in HP computer and installed some fonts. After restart PP can't see the new fonts. I reinstall them and it says they are there but can't see them. I repeat this process and fonts disappear after restart. I check my 1 month old new Dell desktop with Win 7 64x and it also has problems with the fonts. I then remove encryption properties on font files and install and the fonts stay put and no more problems with both desktops.

With the clean install I spent maybe 16 hours installing Win 7 with 296 Windows updates which was ridiculous. Both computers have Win 7 64x Professional and updated Firefox. Both computers use different antivirus programs. One uses Office 2013 the other Office 2007. It is the OS that manages fonts from what I have read. With all the issues with IE and security is it possible that one of those countless 296 updates now has problems with certain encrypted files like fonts for instance? Win 7 can't seem to actually find newly installed fonts anymore? I have not yet done a backup of the encrypted code but I don't see how that will improve the problem with finding certain encrypted files. I just download a bunch of clipart and one of the encrypted files is a blank page. Even when I remove the encryption properties to the file it still is blank. The tech support folks for the site and the seller all use MACs and they have no problems with the fonts or the clipart image. Just me with Win 7 desktops. Am I going to have to migrate to ... Answer:Fonts & graphics w/ encryption are missing in both Win 7 x64 desktops

Honestly, I'm at a loss. How are you suppose to use these fonts or clipart images if they are encrypted? I been in the field for Web Design/Development for serval years, fonts and source materials were never encrypted.
As you said, removing the encryption from the fonts allows it to function, so.....your problem is what ever this encryption is....

My Windows 10 Professional Creators upgrade completed yesterday at Version 1703, OS Build 15063.138. This morning I find that something like 5-10% of my fonts are gone. After rabbiting around, it seems that MS has nuked the fonts that came with Corel Draw (x5). I've found them in Corel's Extras as .ttf files, but when I go to reinstall one, it tells me it's already installed.

I install/replace it anyway (with no errmsg) but it doesn't appear in the font panel afterwards.

I have tried rebuilding the font cache, using this bat file found on the web:
:: Stop and disable "Windows Font Cache Service" service
:FontCache
sc stop "FontCache"
sc config "FontCache" start=disabled
sc query FontCache | findstr /I /C:"STOPPED"
if not %errorlevel%==0 (goto FontCache)
:: Grant access rights to current user for "%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService" folder and contents
icacls "%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService" /grant "%UserName%":F /C /T /Q
:: Delete font cache
del /A /F /Q "%WinDir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\FontCache\*FontCache*"

del /A /F /Q "%WinDir%\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT"
:: Enable and start "Windows Font Cache Service" service
sc config "FontCache" start=auto
sc start "FontCache"

but the font still is missing and the font panel still says it's already installed if I (repeatedly) reinstall.

Answer:Missing Fonts after Creators Upgrade and difficulty reinstalling them

Hi, you could perhaps try completely uninstalling Corel Draw, with the help of Revo or Geek uninstaller (unless Corel provides a manual uninstall tool) then reinstall it.

That's the most straightforward and least demanding approach in terms of brain-power, I guess.

Note that added fonts are also removed if you do an in-place upgrade repair- which is essentially the same process as the upgrade. If so, it would seem an oversight.

Please forgive the length of this, my first posting here.

Recently I have encountered a problem with font sizes in IE6 windows. The fonts are so large that they diminish the usefulness of the window. That is, lines of text that used to be just one line long now either wrap to the next line or stretch so far across the screen that I have to scroll to the right to read the entire line. Because of these too large fonts, when viewing MSNBC.com (my IE6 home page of choice), the multi-column newspaper-like sections run into and even overlap each other. What a mess!

At about the same time as the too large fonts problem started I noticed that I was getting an error at start-up time when booting up Windows (XP Pro Sp3). Just after the computer begins loading my personal profile I get an audible Thungkk alarm sound. The boot process continues, but when it finally paints the desktop with my desktop icons there is a large rectangular error dialog box in the center of the screen which says Windows cannot find 'c:\WINDOWS\config\csrss.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search. When later I do an all-disk Search for the csrss.exe file I find two of them; one in c:\Windows\system32 and one in c:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386. Both have the same date and the same size (6kb).

Finally, both of the problems described above started happening right around the time I noticed that my ... Read more

Problem 2 - After doing a clean install but saving files in 'Windows.old' Wingdings 2 & Wingdings 3 fonts have disappeared. They are'nt in the the fonts folder and I need them.

Problem 1 - PC started acting inappropriately during searches. Press Window Key, press W key to get Wordpad and it would show things like Calculator, VLC Player or Irfanview. Or press Window Key, press I for Internet Explorer and it shows Notepad, Paint or Word.
Solved with new install of Windows. Curious to how to fix if it happens again without reinstalling Windows?

Help appreciated.

Hi,
During the past summer I deleted a number of fonts from my Windows 7 system that I knew I was never going to use, but I mistakenly deleted some I did occasionally use. It was no big deal at the time, but now I'd like some (about four of them) back. But it's too late for a system restore and I'd like to avoid the drastic option of a total re-installation of the OS.
Is there any way to get these fonts back without doing a drastic reinstall of the OS -- which I don't have a disc for anyway? (One would think MS itself would provide a resource for valid Windows owners to re-download fonts that were installed when someone buys a Windows PC. ) Note: the missing fonts are actually Office 2007 fonts not Windows 7's own fonts.
Anyway, thanks for any suggestions. :-)

My desktop machine is built on Gigabyte GA-Z87-UD3H and Gigabyte provides the latest driver for Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST), which I installed after installing the OS. Same goes for my Lenovo Thinkpad-T420. And for both machine, checking the controller device under the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers section in Device Manager I see the driver has been updated to the latest version.
I set the SATA controller to AHCI from BIOSOn the desktop machine I have one WD 2TB BLACK & one WD 3TB GreenI don?t use RAID, & no chance of using in near future, but according to Intel IRST improves performance in single disk scenario too.

Now I have the following questions ?

What is the actual purpose of IRST (pre-OS install) driver that doesn?t get served with a post-OS driver that I installed? There must be some difference, otherwise there wouldn?t be a pre-OS version of the driver. Right? In the pre-OS procedure (loading the drivers at OS-installation time) after successfully completing the OS installation, do I need that post-OS driver? Because after installing from that one I got a quick launch icon that runs the IRST configuration application. Where do get that after installing the pre-OS driver? As it is ?pre-OS?, when I load it at OS-installation time, does it updates anything at BIOS level or anywhere other than HDD? That?s because I?m going to dual boot Windows 7 with Windows 8.1, and after installing Windows 7 when I install Windows 8.1 & load the IRST driver for tha... Read more

Hi Nero666 and welcome to the forum! I don't like IRST myself especially if not using RAID. The times I've tried it, got nothing but problems. Just because it is put out by Intel doesn't mean it is good. Recommend not installing it.

Greetings everyone, I have a dell inspiron 7000 and recently reinstalled windows 10 into my laptop after I received a system thread exception not handled error with a bootable usb. After painstakingly spending a whole day (10 hours) I succeeded in restoring my laptop with windows 10. Nevertheless, I accidentally restarted my laptop while the bootable usb is still in the usb drive and now my laptop does not even load/boot. The screen just freeze trying to load up the OS as in the spinning dots when the windows first loaded up, after 3 dots loaded, the whole screen freezes. in addition, when I try to load up windows repair, it'll load up an extra dot and freezes at 4 loading dots; I can't even load into the harddrive through BIOS. The good thing is that I can still access the BIOS and do diagnostic test and all the stuff from BIOS. Other than that, I'm unable to access my computer.

I really don't want to buy a new computer because this laptop is really precious to me and I don't want to waste money on getting a new one.

Hi every body, I am new to this forum. I have fair amount of experience with PCs, including building them. Now I have a new problem. I installed a new HDD, configured it as the Primary 'o' drive (Cable Select). No other drive. The single drive is detected by the BIOS. When I try to install Win XP, the setup loads the necessary files, but when I hit Enter to install OS, I get a message saying "No hard drive is found".

I have tried different hard drives changed the cables, tried it as Master, nothing works, same message. Would appreciate your help.

Answer:Hard drive is recognized by BIOS, but not byWin XP installatio

Normally this has to do with Windows not having the drivers for the controller. Usually the driver is on a floppy disk or on the CD that came with the motherboard and will need to be put on a floppy disk.
During the install you will be prompted to press F6 to install additional SCSI or RAID drivers. This is where the controller drivers will need to be installed.

Can you list your motherboard specs and we may be able to find you them.

I have a laptop from HP, Pavilion dv6000, and the webcam, which is built-in webcam and it always worked fine under windows xp. Now it does not work and I do not even see it listed anymore under Device Manager.
How do I fix that or do I need to go back to windows xp???

Answer:HP Pavilion dv6000 built-in webcam not working after win 7 installatio

If it's not listed in Device Manager then it looks like it's not compatible with Windows 7.

Have you checked HP's support site to see if there are any Windows 7 drivers for the webcam?

If all else fails you can always buy a webcam that is compatible with Windows 7.

What can I do?
Thank u.

Answer:BT and WLan don't work after new WIn 7 installatio on Satellite C850 PSKCAV

What Satellite C850-xxx do you have exactly?
The point is that different C850 were equipped with different Wlan cards.
Some WLan cards support BT, and some don?t.

So it?s essential to know the Wlan card and if this Wlan card supports the BT too.

Question: TurboTax

Has TurboTax pulled another fast one this year? Like they did a couple of years ago by installing Cdilla to keep pirates at bay? (You could only print on one machine) Lent husband my laptop while his desktop was being repaired. He asked if he could download install TurboTax. It installed, and apparently runs fine. BUT...
I tried to use my wifi card to get online. No go (have answer in another forum)
Also. USB laptop mouse would not work! I had to reboot a couple of times before it did work and it is now working. Some other USB stuff wasn't working either. It now is. He was using a PS mouse. The laptop is running 2K, and normally never has problems. He's asked that I leave TurboTax installed as a backup, so I can't remove it for another month.
The laptop is mostly used for astronomy and storage for CF cards from digital camera, so has no office suite of any kind, IE is totally locked down as far as activeX and anything else using it. I tossed Outlook and OE long ago, and quite a few other "goodies" like flash, etc. I use NOD32 and have the free version of Zonealarm installed.
I suppose I can do a restore eventually, but then it would take me a while to get rid of all the extraneous junk that M$ thinks I need.

Question: Turbotax Vs Taxcut

im thinking about trying one of those tax softwares just wondering if anyone use taxcut or turbotax. any pros and cons of each? opinions? are these things safe and accurate to use?

also are you suppose to buy a new one each year or can i buy one now and use it again next year?

Answer:Turbotax Vs Taxcut

Hi splackavellie,While I'm not an accountant ,but I have done my own tax preparation for many years.Well I've used both in the past. Now it is such that I use an accountant . They are all very similar. In fact some accountants and prepareres use them to figurre your taxes. You will need to get a FED and State copies for each state you earn income in. You need to upgrade each year. They are accurate but as with any accountant you should check there guarantee as to what they cover in event of a mistake. Depending on how complex your filing status is,it may not even be something you need. If you file 1040EZ it would be faster and cheaper to just fill out the sheet. in my opinion. As it will take a while to fill out all the questions and info forms. Question: turbotax problem

not sure this is the best problem for a software area...but i figured i would ask in the off chance some one knew, or could give me the likely "you're over thinking it you don't need that" answer.

anyway, using turbotax home and business 2009 and i am doing fine with it for the most part. i am just now recalling that at the start it asked if i wanted to import last years turbotax file. i didn't recall were or if i had it, and of course only found it today.
since i have gotten through all of the federal part thus far, if i really even needed to import last years file or not... apparently only turbotax's of 2008 and earlier were able to import it, and even then may have wiped clean all your information in doing so.

so i am just wondering if anyone knows more about this area of the program, and/or if it is even necessary to be thinking about importing last years files. since it said there were no errors when it did its check at the end of the federal section.

thanks for any help.

Answer:turbotax problem

There are two main advantages from importing last year's info. The first is all your demographic info (name, soc sec, dependents, etc) is filled in for you automatically. Second is last years entries (w-2, investments, etc.) is used as a guide to ask if you have the same items this year which is a big help, especially on deductions. A third could possibly be you will be able to compare this year to last year. If you have already completed the form I would not worry about importing from last year.

Have spent hours and hours trying to install turbotax. OS is XP with all .net frameworks, S Ps, etc. Ran REGSERVO and SPARKTRUST PC with significantly different scan results. Turbotax stops installing after "fixing" .net Framework 4.0 problems, but apparently cannot fix. After hours and hours, got through to intuit and suggested that since I cannot be the only one with this problem, why hasnt Intuit written a software fix since they MUST know why turbotax is not able to be installed. No answer.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Something is incompatible and suspect Microsoft has updated over the years, never verifying that a new update is compatible with previous updates.

I heard that TurboTax does not put C-dilla on your computer now, but do they do anything else sleazy for copy protection now?

Every time we install software we have to accept an agreement that says that whatever the program does, it does, and they aren't responsible.

So I want a federal tax program that

1) doesn't install some heavy-handed or risky protection stuff on my machine

2) I don't want an online service that gets my most sensitive personal info.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Answer:Any Turbotax users out there?

Not sure. I would read about the product on their website. A few years back TurboTax pulled some crap limiting the use and print function of it. It also wrote some data into the boot block, iirc.

I use TaxCut, I believe that you can do multiple returns on it, but you may need to print and mail in one of them.

Go check out the IRS website (www.irs.gov ), there are many free tax software, e-filings and other goodies to use listed under Free File. Believe it or not the IRS is trying to make your life easier.

When i open turboTax 2004, under "file" on the menu bar there is normally an option called "go To State Return" but it is greyed out as if there is no state installed. If i complete the federal tax return, at the end it will ask "do you want to file a state return?" and it will load up the state tax return or import last years data into a new state return just like it should! But it will not let me "go to Federal" or go back and forth like TurboTax 2003 did. Is this a bug in the software, or how do i work around this? The only way I can switch is to close the program and re-open..........

Answer:Problem With TurboTax 2004

On the top bar look for >> by the last entry - hit that and then you'll see state

The wife and I are considering using TurboTax or the H&R Tax software to do our taxes this year. Our tax guy that we normally go to is $70 and we think for $40 we can buy the software to do ourselves, both State and Federal.

We didnt know if those software packages are worth the $$$ and produce accurate results or if it was worth it to spend almost double the software price to have them done. We see those packages for sale every year and almost go with them and I think this might be the year that we actually buy one of them.

What are the Pros and Cons of those software packages and which one would be the best one to get for a 2-person household with no kids or dependents?

Someone out there has had to have used these before and we want to know what your opinion is.

Thanks

Answer:Anyone used TurboTax (or similar) to do their taxes?

I've been doing my taxes with Turbotax or Taxcut every year since around 93-94. Never had a problem yet.

I have a new second computer and it is my intent to load TurboTax 2006 on that computer.
My old computer has the previous years TurboTax on it from which I did my 2005 return.
I want to copy the data files over to the new computer so that I can import the 2005 data into the 2006 TurboTax so that I do not have to re enter all that data.
I cannot find the data files to copy. Can someone help me.

Hello! I think I have finally convinced my husband to try a PC. He has an old Mac Quadra, on which he runs Turbotax.

Does anyone have experience converting tax files from Turbotax from Mac to PC? I saw a program called Conversions Plus, but it doesn't list Turbotax in the application list.

Thanks for any help you can give, and have a good one.

Background:

I am using TurboTax which took over the QuickTax name here in the great north strong and free.

When users get TurboTax (intuit) we are offered System Mechanic 10 free for a 1 year subscription.

I recall a few years back reading in threads about issues/problems/lack of service with System Mechanic.

Question(s)
Has anybody taken up this offer and how did that work out so far?
I have a W7 64 bit setup will this product work or do anything for me?

Answer:Offer for System Mechanic 10 via TurboTax

Stay away from Iolo System Mechanic 10 and any other registry cleaner/booster/optimizer/tuneup type programs, unless you're anxious to trash your computer.

My Dad is getting a new computer and he needs to get his TurboTax and Quicken information to the new computer. How do you do that? His old computer is running Win 98, and the new computer is Windows XP Pro.

Thanks

Answer:Transfering TurboTax and Quicken files

With quicken you can back up account details transactions by using the backup feature built into it. If you don't have the 'backup' button showing on the tools tab it's on the file menu (file, backup). You can backup direct to floppy or burn the backup files to disc from where ever you saved it to. To re-install on the new computer, you must install quicken first then import the backup file and all is as before.
Never used turbo tax so can't help with that one.

I can't print my returns because I get an error stating "missing courier new" font which according to the software the IRS needs to read the return. How do I install this font so I can print my return? Turbotax support says to go to the windows CD and download that font but I can't locate that font. Any Advice??

The drive will read a DVD and music CD but will not acknowledge that the TurboTax Deluxe CD is in the drive. When I put the TurboTax Deluxe CD in another computer's disc drive, it acknowledges that CD is in there. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. This is for my HP Pavilion zv6000 laptop.

Answer:CDROM/DVD Dirve Not Reading TurboTax CD

What does "will not acknowledge" mean? You open Computer, and double-click the optical drive, and what happens? You get an error?

On booting up my computer today, it automatically tried to install a program, which said that it was "TurboTax ItsDeductible 2006". I already had "TurboTax ItsDeductible 2006" installed (or I may have unistalled it a month ago - I don't remember). I kept hitting canceled, but it kept trying to install the program. I finally used Window Task Manager to stop the installation.

It also placed a short cut "Registry Mechanic" on my desk top. I've had "Registry Mechanic" on my computer at least within the last two years, but never used it and may have uninstalled it.

I removed "TurboTax ItsDeductible 2006" and "Registry Mechanic" from my computer.

Do either of "TurboTax ItsDeductible 2006" or "Registry Mechanic" bring up known viruses? My concern is that virus programs used the names of these two programs rather than being the actual programs themselves. My concern is the automatic nature of something causing the attempted installation of "TurboTax ItsDeductible 2006" and the placing of the short cut "Registry Mechanic" on my desktop.

Further, when I tried to run SpywareBlaster, I received the following error:

***********************************
Cannot find import; DDL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version
File "MSVBVM60.DLL", error 126
***********************************

I reinstalled SpywareBlaster and the same error came up when I tried to run the reinstalled version.

In my folder C:\WINDOWS\system32, I see "msvbvm50.dll" but not "MSVBVM60.DLL". Apparently, MSVBRun60.exe installs Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 run-time files

An internet posted suggestion at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/archive/index.php/archive/t-60458.html from 2005 reads

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The program does not run, and reports that a file
named "msvbvm60.dll" is missing. Please download the following
MS run-time installer which will install the missing file and
allow you to use SpywareBlaster without any problems:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/Redist/sp5/WIN98Me/EN-US/vbrun60sp5.exe
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Will that fix the file "MSVBVM60.DLL", error 126?

I have been trying to install TurboTax 2009 on my computer to use until the 2011 version comes out. Each time I try, it starts and then errors out. This is happening in my 32 bit Windows 7 installation.

It will install on my Windows XP partition a and windows 7 64 bit partition (I am triple booting).

It also will not install on my laptop which has the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

I tried the Google search and came with a few suggestions and none worked.

Anyone here had this trouble with Turbotax?

Thanks
