I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: adobe flash player is installed but still doe

Have you tried completely removing Adobe Flash Player through add/remove programs (in control panel) and installing the latest version from adobe.com?

I tried to watch an item on youtube and it told me to install the latest version of adobe flash player. I went through the installation process only to have it say that the latest version was already installed! I was sure I HAD installed the latest version and tried to verify which version IS installed, but can't seem to find it, maybe I'm not doing the right thing... I tried again on Google Maps to look at Street View and it still says to install the latest version. My PC is a Toshiba Satellite P100 laptop with Windows Vista.
Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Recently my flash player quit working on me in the middle of a youtube video, it just quit playing and said i needed to install the latest version of Adobe. So i went and uninstalled it, rebooted, and installed the newest version. It is still telling me that i need to install latest version. I have done several uninstalls and reinstalls, but with no luck. My computer is showing that it is installed and working, and no problems with installation, add-ons are enabled for browser, but it's still not registering that i have a flash player installed. Please help. I even went through and did a clean installation of flash player.

Hi guys, I'm really hoping somebody can help me because this problem is driving me crazy!
I bought a brand new HP Pavillion Laptop 2 weeks ago and the problem is I can not watch videos at all as either a blank box is displayed or it tells me I need to install Flash Player.

The laptop already had flash player though it was not the most recent one so I tried downloading the new one. That did not work.

Since then I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash player many times. I have done this by running it from adobes website and also saving to desktop and the installing it. I have rebooted after every un/installation.

If I go here http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ it displays a box telling me I have Flash Player version 10.3.. installed

I have tried going on internet options and making sure security is set to medium

I have checked that everything is enabled in manage add ons.

I have downloaded cccleaner and ran a registery scan to see if that helped.

I have enabled scripting in internet options security.

Im not sure what else to try!

I have windows 7 64 bit and am using internet explorer 9 (32 bit) and the problem is also there on other browsers (firefox and google chrome)

If any body could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading

Got the Flash uninstaller and ran it to clean out old versions per the Adobe site, then downloaded & run the new version. The Adobe site said the install was successful. I rebooted as directed.

Tried to open a saved RealPlayer flv video download, didn't open (I've uninstalled RealPlayer). Instead the "choose app" window opened, and the Flash 10 wasn't listed.

Went into Start Programs and it's not in there.

Did a Search and nothing came up.

Went into Remove Programs and it does show in there, but is listed
as a Plugin. Don't understand exactly what that means.

Why doesn't it show up in Programs, or in the Select Application window?

Where does it say it's always got to be so complicated?

Thx for explaining things to me!!

I booted the PC this morning and it was telling me I needed to update my Adobe Flash Player, which I did. I saw no mention of this Mcafee Security Scan Plus until the download was complete. I immediately uninstalled the McAfee but now I'm not happy about having the Adobe Flash Player on my system. Is there an alternative piece of software I could use that does not sneak in unwanted programs onto my computer by the back door?

Uninstaller is found here, try a run and then reinstall. Adobe also upgraded recently from version 9 to version 10, so if one doesn't work you could uninstall it and try the other. I would run CCleaner's registry cleaner as well. Seems I had the same problem a month or two back.

Okay. I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 3, Mozilla Firefox v3.

I have this extremely annoying problem with my computer (it doesn't matter which browser I use, IE, Firefox, etc., it says the same thing): whenever I go to a site that uses Flash Player, it tells me to install it because I don't have it. Keep in mind that I did have it installed, but figured maybe my version was outdated or something small like that.

The first time this happened, I downloaded and installed Flash Player; no luck. I did it repeatedly, almost three or four times, maybe more, before I gave up. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it; that didn't work either.

I don't get why this is happening. Clearly I have it installed, but these sites are telling me it's not. I even reinstalled Javascript to see if that would fix it, but nothing happened.

What do I do?

We have IE 6. Say a user goes to MSN.com. The ad on the right is a Flash object. Some of our users will see that object flickering when scrolling up or down on the page or when hovering their mouse over it. It's quite annoying. Almost all users are running Adobe Flash Player 9, but I think I've seen this happen on systems with Macromedia Flash Player 8 as well. Other systems don't have the problem. I've seen this happen on one system and not another while both seemed to have the same Flash objects installed.

Uninstalling all Flash players using Adobe's prescribed Flash Player uninstall tool seems to work at first, but users later complain again. Note that they just about always end up installing Flash Player 9 again, because sites ask for it. I don't believe I've seen this on any XP systems at all, including my own, but most of our users have Win2K.

Does anybody know why this happens or how to permanently fix it?

Thanks,
Hotshot309

Answer:Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V. 9.0.28.0)

More info: Adobe Flash Player 9, Macromedia Flash Player 8, and Macromedia Flash Player 10 all produce the same result--Flash objects that flicker when you put your mouse over any part of them. Moving Flash objects will flicker constantly while moving and stop flickering when the animation is done. SWF files (at least the one at www.stormwerks.com/linked/stuf/AYB2.swf) work without a problem when using Adobe Flash Player 9.

If I don't have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed, the Win2K machines prompt me to install them for almost any site that uses Flash (I guess most recent Flash objects cannot be viewed with the older Macromedia Flash Players).

Any suggestions?

To completely uninstall and remove Adobe Flash Player from your Windows computer, use Adobe Flash Uninstaller.
Download it by clicking here.
Next, close all your programs including your browsers and run Adobe Flash Uninstaller. It executes on both 64-bit and 32-bit version of the Windows operating systems.
Delete all the files in this folder: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\FlashC:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Once you do this, restart your computer.
Open your browser and check the status of Flash Player by going here.

I am having a problem with Adobe Flash Player. I did an uninstall using an uninstaller provided at another forum and a Reboot and a reinstall and Reboot.
The programs that are on my notebook, XP sp2 that were the New Reinstall are:
Adobe Shockwave Player Vers. 10.1.4.20
Adobe Flash Player Activex 9.0.45.0

I am trying to get the Video to work at the following news site (the audio works); the site is:
http://www.aptn.ca/streaming/

I don't know if I have the whole Adobe Flash Player program or something is missing??

I did the clean reinstall b/c I thought that the existing Flash Player might be corrupt.
But this has made no change. All I get is a green window and Audio????

I am wondering if anyone has encountered such a problem before??? I simply don't know anything about Adobe or streaming.

Thankyou for your time.

Adobe Flash Player has several variants for different operating systems and browsers and is now on version 11.9.  The active-x variant is used with Windows Internet Explorer.  There is another Windows variant for plugin based browsers, such as Firefox.  There are variants for Mac OS X and Linux, although the last version produced for Linux was 11.2.

I get a message when viewing certain web pages that I need to install Adobe Flash Player. I install it, restart the browser and/or restart the computer and get the same message again to install Flash Player. The result is the same with IE7, FireFox and Chrome.

I've installed Adobe Flash Player several times. Finally, I found a site from which I could download the installer and run it from my desktop. That didn't help either.

I have disabled antivirus and all internet security programs. I also recently formatted the only partition on the only hard disk, restored the computer to its original factory configuration due to malware infestation. I am certain there is no malware involved. I also enabled scripting in IE7.

Answer:Installed Flash Player and still getting messages to install Flash Player

Check your current version of Flash, assuming there is one, by going to this page;http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=2 Unless your 'restoration' has left you with a really old version, you may have to run the Adobe uninstaller first (unless you have already!);http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=1

This will remove the Flash plugin from every browser you have installed, so you will have to reinstall the Active X version for IE and the non Active X one for the others. These links work for me if I use the relevant browser to d/l them, but if I click on the IE link using Opera, I get the version for Opera;

IE : http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/static/styx/English.html (read the installation instructions carefully)

Firefox, Opera etc.:http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

Answer:How to record rtmp:// flash video .flv stream from embedded Adobe Flash Player

As the site is owned by Viacom/MTV, my guess is that it is DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected and videos can't be downloaded. I normally use Real Player when I need to download embedded videos but I don't think it will work and I'm not aware of a free product that will download DRM protected videos.

I uninstalled Adobe Flash with their uninstall tool because I read somewhere you needed to update it because of major security flaw. I went over to the Adobe website to try and find an update, as well as a tutorial on how to update, as I had no idea what version I had. Their website is a mess unless you want to purchase something, and then you can find whatever your want. Since I had no idea what version of player, I just DL their uninstall tool, then DLed their new flash. I used their uninstall tool, and then reinstalled the new Adobe Flash Player. The only PU that came up was that it couldn't install in Opera. I went looking to try and configure it, then I read in the post below, you had to go to the link, http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ for shockwave, and figured it would lead me to flash and all that crap. I remembered what a PIA it was. I went over there, and it says flash works, but I still don't know if it's the latest flash or not. On the right it says I need to install "other sw", but that probably because I don't have shockwave installed. BTW, when I used their uninstaller from an administrator account, it completely wiped out my FX profile in the limited user account for some reason. It didn't do anything to the FX profiles in the administrator's accounts. I keep an updated copy of the limited user account's FX profile, and just reinstalled it, but I'm sick and tired of adobe flash and all the BS your have ... Read more

Answer:Adobe Flash uninstall tool,& is there a better/safer flash player w/o the hassles?

The flash player for IE and Firefox is in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. The IE one is called Flash9f.ocx and for Firefox its NPSWF32.dll.

You can view current version, by going to a page with a flash object on the web page, right click on the Flash object and select About Adobe Flash Player 9 and it will take you to Adobe site and display version.
You can also get version from the files about on the Version or Details tab of its properties.

As for removal, just either use the Uninstall tool in the same folder (See above) or delete all the files in the folder to remove it.

Should I uninstall Macromedia Flash Player in the "add/remove" section of control panel if I have Adobe Flash Player 10 active X already installed as well? This is confusing...do they do they perform the exact same function?

Answer:Both Adobe Flash Player & Macromedia Flash Player?

Macromedia was purchased by Adobe.
Before you remove it, find the Macromedia folder and right click the exe, if you see one, check the properties to see what version it is.

It might simply be an old version of flash from before Adobe purchased it.

I'm not sure if removing/uninstalling Macromedia flash will break anything, like an old game you might run.
So my advice is to copy everything from the Macromedia folder before you uninstall it. If something is broken, put it back exactly where it was. Be sure you right down the full path of the folder.

After doing quite a bit of reading today,I decided that the Adobe PDF viewer is a resource hog. I uninstalled any traces of it I could find in my add/remove programs part of my pc. Just a few minutes ago while reading another post here at BC, I discovered I had to install Adobe Flash player to view an article thru YouTube.
My question is how does flash differ from the pdf viewer? They're both an Adobe thing, right?

I opted to download a small viewer called Sumatra,by the way.

Hi,

I'm having difficulty updating the Flash Player add-on in my IE8 browser. When I try to download I get a dialogue box which states that memory <hex code) has tried to write to memory reference <same hex code as previous>.

Then the Microsoft DEP (Data Execution Prevention module) runs and shuts down IE. I have disabled the Flash 7 add-on and reset the Internet Explorer Settings on the Advanced tab of Internet Options. It still gives me the error described above. Is it OK to uninstall IE 8.0 and re-install it. Hi,
I see on the threads that others have had this problem. For some reason I can't get Adobe to work; so I went and installed the newest version, and it doesn't work either. YouTube and others just say I need it. I go to Adobe, and it says I have it installed. I look in my computer "add install" list, and there it is. It is there, but for some reason YouTube and others are not "seeing" or connecting with it. I've uninstalled it and installed it twice, and each time shut down the compute and turned it back on.
The thread I looked at the guy had a similiar problem, but no resolution nor did he say what he finally did to get it working. His was a new computer, so he could take it back; mine is not.

Is Adobe Flash installed along with IE10? With IE11? The first page (of 10) Google results didn't answer the question. -- Jeff, in Minneapolis

Answer:Is Adobe Flash installed along with Internet Explorer?

Hi Jeff, since flash player is a plugin and is available for different browsers, I would venture to say it's not bundled with IE. When you view a webpage that uses it, it will tell you you need to install the latest version to be able to view the content. Once installed it will update constantly. It's almost a PIA.

Hi, saw the post and since I am having the same problem I tried the link and accordingly, I have nothing in the box that shows. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 and it is the 64 bit system. I downloaded IE10 for Windows 7 64 bit and Adobe says download is successful, it is listed in my programs and I looked to make sure that Adobe Shockwave was enabled in the Add-ons screen, but yet when I try use it, it gives me same message that says I need to download the latest version which I did, what am I missing? Like I said, I clicked on your link and was directed to the site but I have nothing in the boxes. Can someone help? Thanks

Answer:Adobe Flash Player

Go into the Control Panel and open the Flash Player Console. Update from there, but before you do, put a check to allow in FF. If flash doesn't work in IE after that download or open (if you already have) FF and see if it works there. Even if it does, we still can work on the IE problem separately.

Question: Adobe Flash Player

Something has changed and don't know what.... perhaps removed it without realizing it?

I visited YouTube and it won't let me see the videos, says I need the latest Flash Player. I downloaded it from Adobe website, yet I can't get it installed. Have tried it numerous times.

As you can see I have some Adobe folders and the first one has 0 bytes. The other just has a few kb's in it. Look at the pic. The others are for Irfanview and my printer.

What do I need to install from the Adobe website to let me see the video's? Do I need to install a full package and what version would I need?

Thank you so much!!

Answer:Adobe Flash Player

Posted too hasty. Problem solved. Had to unblock Adobe (remove it) from the untrusted publishers in IE.

Question: Adobe Flash Player

i don't know if this goes in here cause im just a noobie but if its in the wrong place, admins can move it. ^^;

recently, youtube has been telling me that i need to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. so i tried to download it (ver. 9.0.115.0.) but everytime i download, i get this picture

it says it failed to download in the Opera file. strangely enough, i don't even have Opera installed onto my computer.
i did try to install Opera to see what would happen but youtube still does not work on either Firefox, IE, or Opera.

i have these three plugins for Firefox:
npijjiFFPlugin1.dll
npnul32.dll
nppdf32.dll

i've tried to uninstall Adobe Flash Player both through the add/remove program and using the uninstaller from the Adobe website.
i restarted my computer and tried to reinstall the new version but it still does not work.

i currently own a Dell pc ( i don't know the model #) and am running windows xp. i have the newest version of Firefox also. is there anyone else that has this problem?

Answer:Adobe Flash Player

I have not had this problem. My attempt at installing the Flash Player went flawlessly.

However, have you downloaded the latest version or is it a previous version in which you've copied over or something. I would recommend downloading the latest version from the Adobe website if not. Also, are you running as an Admin? I assume you are, however it requires Administrative privileges in order to access the system files it needs.

You may want to try the traditional precautions as well.

Hello, I need some help with my plugin for Adobe Flash Player. I went onto a website called www.explosm.net and went to comic 1217, to watch the Spartacus film, it didn't load, and in the corner came up a square with a triangle, circle and square. At the bottom of the page, it said, "Not loading? Get the plugin!" So I clicked on the link and downloaded the Adobe Flash Player. After, I went into IE and found that my favourites changed to the ones from my Dad's name, but the plugin worked. After, I closed IE and opened it again, to find my favourites were mine again, but the plugin didn't work, WHAT DO I DO?

Answer:Adobe Flash Player.

Always, always, always download plugins from only the publisher's website. If you did not download Adobe Flash Player from adobe.com, do a System Restore to the restore point created when you installed the new plugin, or prior to installing the plugin. Then go to adobe.com to download the Flash Player. The plugin for Internet Explorer should be automatically installed.

I have searched the web for answers to this problem but have not found anything related to it which makes me believe this problem is unique to me. It is not an easy problem to totally explain, but here is generally what is happening with a couple of examples.

1) I go to web sites with video's such as YOU TUBE and IMDB. If I try to start a video, a new window in the upper leftcorner appears with the video. There seems to be no controls on the window that actually work.

2) To add to the problem the window seems to be trying to play other videos and everything flashes in and out.

3) Other websites that seem to use Flash Player will produce a small video at the left of the screen and as I scroll down, the video jumps down as well. It to is not playing right as it seem like it is pushing through a popup blocker or something.

It reminds me of Star Trek when something similar happens to them. I love Star Trek. I hate flash player. If there was another probram I could use I would. My computer is fairly new with Windows 7 64 bit and I do not have any exoctic programs on it.

It is driving me crazy. It seem to start when I updated the FLASH PLAYER last. I did remove it and of course, no pop up videos, but also of course, no videos at all. This would say that it is a problem with flash player which is causing it or can not stop it.

Hope somene can figure this one out for me.

It would be nice if Adobe had a help system. They have technical support but they charge for that or ... Read more

I got a new computer (Intel 2 Quad Core 4 w/ 4GB of RAM, 64-bit, Vista Home Premium). I can't install Adobe Flash Player because it's 64-bit, so I can't view YouTube videos or even things on many sites.

The Adobe site states:

Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.

Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following Flash Player 10.

Do any of you have a link of how to install the version of Adobe that I can get on my computer? If I do this, I can easily upgrade when the right verion comes out for my system, right?

Any info will be appreciated!

Answer:No Adobe Flash Player for 64-bit OS?

Hi -

Adobe really missed the boat on this one.

The work around for this is to run IE7 x86 - not the x64 version.

Click on start | type internet - select the "Internet Explorer" that has no wording after it. This is IE7 x86 (32-bit). See if this resolves your problem.

IE7 x86 will run everything you need under x64.

I download Adobe Flash Player and I'm told that it was successful.

Again, I click the link to activate the card, and again I'm told that I need to download Adobe Flash Player.

I'm in an endless loop and Adobe Flash Player isn't working.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanx

Don

I have Windows 7 Pro. & Internet Explorer. Although I have downloaded Flash Player every time I want to watch a video I get a message saying I need to install it. It is showing in my installed programmes. I have downloaded it several times now & get a message thanking me for installing it but the same problem still exists. Any advice would be appreciated. Keith.

Answer:Adobe Flash Player not available

Flash is not updated through MS in Win7.
I think you are having the problem stated by Jock1e in his first para.
Go to click here both the plugin and Active X versions and install them after uninstalling the versions you already have installed on your computer.

Question: Adobe Flash Player

I can't view videos on Firefox. A message says I need Adobe Flash Player. Add/Remove show three mentions of Adobe:
Adobe Flash Player (AFP) 10 Active X;
(AFP) 10 Plugin;
(AFP)9 Active X

I've been told that installing the latest version will overwrite these programs and I've also been told that I need to uninstall Adobe Flash Player. I don't know much about computers and want to be sure I don't screw something up.

I also at times use IE. Do I have to go through the uninstall and install on it as well as Firefox?

I'd appreciate your expert advice. Thanks.
