I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Optiarc DVD RW AD-7585H reads and writes CDs. Will also read DVD-r. Will not load nor read DVD-rw.Reasons?Thanks.

Answer:Acer Aspire 7736z-4088

Sorry your having issues with your computer, Is this some new DVD-RW or older with data already on them? I know it shouldn't matter as it is RW so should be able to load and re Write over if it was data that you didn't want. I am not sure if maybe you ended up with a system that is only for +RW I know most of today are both+- but if it was a used  computer maybe someone did a swap? I know it is said that system comes with a DVD+-R and RW and RW DL so should be no issue.  Have you tried +RW? That format is better then the - and uses ADIP (Address in Pregroove) where the - uses the LPP (Land Pre Pit) the + is also faster and able to Locate data to byte accuracy, where the - is slower and don't have that accuracy.  Only thing I could think of is trying to DL your Sata drivers for your system and re install them.... Could be Driver issue if the drive is standard drive for the unit. Reminds me of the days of Coasters when we would try and burn DVD or CDs on some drives. Some didn't like colors they would open start to burn and then fail so dics would be bad. Some had issues with Black... Still have a few of the old Recordable CD lol....  James

Answer:acer aspire 7736z-4088 network adapters

DISREGARD!! Ethernet is integrated in mobo so bought USB to 10/100 Mbps adapter and works like a champ. That $20 saved me a lot of $$ in a new mobo or, actually, a new computer. This one works great enough. The Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrade has the best of my attention now. I'm a happy camper. Thanks.

My Aspire came with 64 bit windows 7.The computer works fine but has developed some quirks.i.e. Some new applications require .net framework 4.5 and this will not install.Attemps to install .net framework online and with a standalone installer fail with a cannot install message.I have lots of programs on this computer and it is working ok but there are some glitches in the OS like the above problem.I have the restore DVD's but I don't want to start over with a blank computer.I would like to just repair windows 7.Is this possible with just the restore disks? How would I do this windows repair but leave all the programs and data on the computer? Thanks

Answer:Need to fix Windows 7 on my Aspire 7736Z Laptop

Yes, you can go look at the options in Acer eRecovery Management (Start>Programs>Acer) , before commiting. Your saved files are placed in a C:/Backup file, but I had other hidden files like, Google Toolbar that hitched a ride on my Backup. The Backup was findable at any rate. But If I do it again, I think I'll use the Acer Backup Manager and archive to disk before attempting a complete Factory eRecovery. But your machine may be cleaner than mine... Alternately, you could attempt to repair your previous .NET Framework files--I've heard this helps with the 4.5 install--I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in the article given belowhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/976982/en-us Try to Download .net framework 4.5 manually, refer to link below:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2858725/en-us

I have a friend running XP on an Acer Aspire laptop. Unfortunately, she did not create recovery or backup disks. This morning she tried to do a restore to factory settings, laptop crashed during it, and now it wants an Admin password. She has tried leaving it blank, but still comes back up.
She is about 40 miles from me, so I am trying to help her through emails. She does not know computers (as you can tell from not making disks).
I do have disks for Acer Aspire. Should I have her try Ctrl, Alt, Del and see if computer restarts? If recovery is corrupted, would my disks work?
Any help appreciated.

Answer:Acer Aspire laptop crashed during factory restore. No disks

Hi

What is asking for the admin password? Windows? The laptop BIOS? If the BIOS, only Acer will be able to provide the code. If it's Windows, there's a few options available.

Do you have the same exact model number laptop as her? If so, your recovery media will work for her laptop. If not, it won't. However, if your recovery media will work, I strongly suggest copying them and giving her the copy to use, instead of risking your originals.

Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct sub-section of the forum but couldn't see a more appropriate place.

Any advice appreciated: I'm trying to do a factory restore on my Acer Aspire laptop, as it started crashing, stalling etc. and then eventually just failing to boot up. I've gotten a fair bit of my important stuff off it using a Linux (Knoppix) disc, so am ready to do a factory restore.

However, when I try to do so, I get the error message: "WIMApplyImage Fail. Error: 045D" then I click on "OK" and it says "FAIL to restore image"

Any ideas? I'm worried that my hard drive may be physically damaged. When I listen it's making the odd whirring/clicking noise, but doesn't sound particularly out of the ordinary to me.

Or, on the other hand, does anybody know of any alternative options to the in built Acer factory restore?

Thanks,

Chris

Answer:(Acer Aspire laptop) Factory Restore failing - hard drive damaged?

Hi Chris. Welcome to TSF.

Have you tried opening up a terminal window and running chkdsk /r on your system? You might also run "sfc /scannow" from within the terminal window as well just to see if perhaps your problems are system-file related.

The clicking noise you're hearing is a bit troubling as it is often an indicator of an impending hard drive failure. I'm glad that you backed up your stuff though. Often that is one thing many people do NOT do and then they are left scrambling for ways to recover their data.

Good day!

Mike

My Acer Aspire 7736z disconnects often during periods of inactivity since I installed Win 10.I have to reconnect often.  It seems to work better when I reinstall old win 7 drivers. Is this solution okay?  Is there a better solution?

Answer:aspire 7736z Wifi disconnects often with Win 10. ...

The best solution is to go back to Win 7.http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-from-windows-10Acer doesn't support this laptop in Win 10 and has no Win 10 drivers for it and probably never will.A lot of non supported laptops are experiencing wifi driver issues. All you can do is ID your wifi card and find every Win 10 wifi driver for the brand of card you have and try them one by one until you find one that works. If you don't know the Mfr, download and run http://www.belarc.com/free_download.htmland look at Hardware.

Hi.  I have an Aspire 7736Z with Win 7 Home.  It is apparently missing the BT card.  I press on the BT button above the keyboard and it doesn't light up with no other activity on screen.  Check Device Manager and don't see the BT object.  I'm actually not sure where this object would show up/should be in Dev Mgr.  This is evidence that the BT module was omitted from this model. Anyway, I got a service manual and the Bluetooth card is listed as "Foxconn Bluetooth BRM 2046 BT2.1 (T60928.33),  In the parts crossover this turns out to be Acer's part no:  BH.21100.004. Question:  How do I order this from Acer?   Hoib

Have you checked on Device manager, selecting "show hidden devices" on View tab, if BT module appears? any Yellow exclamation mark on Device manager?

Answer:Aspire 7736z, no power, tried all solutions listed

pchoices,

I'm sorry that you are having a no power issue. However, a computer having no power cannot be resolved from just a single solution because multiple things can cause a no power symptom. In most cases, if it is not the battery or AC adapter, then it would indicate a hardware issue with the mainboard or another component.

Hi all, Ihave tried running the "recovery" CDs that were made from the system when new, but to no avail.  When it tries to boot up after running through the recovery process, it stops and displays the message "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware." It seems to me that sometime in the past, I was able to return it to factory defaults using some stuff that's on it's (perhaps hidden) hard disk partitions.  Does anybody know how I could do that? Failing that, I could also wipe the disk, reinstall Windows 7 from scratch using generic installation media (anybody know where I can download that from?) along with the product key# on the sticker on the bottom of the machine.  Of course if I do that, I'll also need to download the drivers appropriate to the machine (anybody know where I can get them)? Thanks in advance to anybody who can help.

Help! I backed up my Acer Aspire E5-551-T374's recovery partition to the USB with the erecovery software already installed on the computer. Later, after I re-partitioned the hard drive removing all of the partitions including the hidden recovery partition, I tried to restore it with the USB recovery stick. I plugged it in and set the USB as the first thing to boot in the BIOS. When the normal Acer boot logo came up, it stayed there until I force shut it off. I noticed that at some point it will shut off by itself if it is unplugged. The battery was not dead though. If anyone had this problem and they know what it is, that would be great!

Answer:Can't restore from USB on Acer Aspire E5

First of all, the HDD must be unallocated, that means no partitions, prior to use the USB erecovery.then, have you pressed F12 at boot and choosed the USB as bootable device?

Answer:how do i restore acer aspire e15

It may appear/disappear rather quickly - but is there the usual message to press whichever key to access setup?Does the hard drive light/led show any activity? This is the manual for your model Acer, which it might be useful to download/browse...http://www.manualslib.com/manual/55...One albeit long shot:Power down and remove both the main power - and the battery. Then press and hold the on/off button for about 30seconds or so. Then restore power and see if per chance the problem has cleared (This tip from Derek and on occasion it works).Be aware that if you "do" manage a factory rest - and I wouldn't go there just yet - all your personal files will be lost in the process. So if you haven't already copied them to external storage (DVD and/or an external hard drive) it would be wise to try and recover them first. Then once you have managed that - set about resolving the problem as exists.Download the ISO from:ubuntu.comBurn to a DVD; boot with that DVD. It will load a Linux variant into RAM only. Presuming it does so then you can access the hard drive and safely copy all your personal files to DVD etc.

This question is directed to an Acer user, if possible. Have just purchased second hand [used]. I'm a little confused over backup arrangments,i.e Acer eRecovery Management.I've created a recovery disk "Factory defalt disk" which works as I had to do a recovery. Am I right in assuming that the Full backup, with the option to do a fast back up later creats a recovery disk INCLUDING all the applications/windows updates etc etc. AB68

Answer:acer aspire factory restore

If you want to keep Win8, just install the necessary Wifi driver. Can't help you with that because you didn't provide any info about your Aspire. If you want to go back to your previous OS, it depends on how you installed Win8. Did you do a clean install? In other words, did you completely wipe the HDD & start from scratch? or did you upgrade from another OS? Did you backup all your files & programs? Because most likely you have (or will) lose all of them.

You need to go into bios settings to enable the disk to diss approach:copied from the manual at above source:page 41:Enable disk-to-disk recoveryTo enable disk-to-disk recovery (hard disk recovery), activate the BIOS utility, then select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen. Power up the AspireAt the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the Alt key and press the F10 key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery. It's often ("always") helpful to post the actual model details too when posting a CFH (Call For Help) in any forum Occasionally the information required may be specific to a given model.Presumably you are aware that the Factory Reset process will erase all your personal files too? So if there's anything you wouldn't wish to lose - copy those files to external media first (typically DVD). Check the copies are OK - and if possible on another working system too.

Answer:acer aspire factory restore

Model number of your Aspire will be most useful - as with that information folks here may be able to help you more easily...You say you touched "some buttons"... Can you remember which? It is just possible you pressed the combination that enables the external vga output and switches off the built-in display? Typically to enable - and also disable the external vga and restore the built-in, you press hold down the Fn key and press one of the F buttons on top row. (They're a shared key with each number.)The F-key may be F5, or F3 or even another...The key will have a couple of very small monitor symbols on it. The left one will be just an outline, and next to it is solid one. On my olde Acer Aspire it's F5.Holding Fn and pressing F5 once enables the external vga/monitor display with the built-in (if I remember correctly). Pressing F5 a second time (still holding down Fn) will switch off the built-in display but leave the external one enabled. Pressing F5 again will restore built-in display, and disable external display. It's a three step toggle arrangement... And likely you have gotten to the second step? So perhaps hold down Fn key and press F5 again (once only) and wait a moment or two. If still no built-in display, press F5 again ((holding the Fn key down each time you press F5).I wouldn't consider any factory reset/restore routine just yet. Try the procedure above and also post back with model number of your Aspire.message edited by trvlr

restore acer asprire windows 7. Brother used password and he has died and do not have password. need to create new password to be able to get into computer

Answer:acer aspire factory restore

You should check the manual for your particular model but it's usually ALT and F10 (simultaneously) or just F10 when you first start it up.Are there other accounts you can log onto that might have administrative access? You can try safe mode and see if the default administrator account is enabled. If you can get in through another account you could delete the other passwords and wouldn't need to do the recovery.

hiI have an Acer Aspire 6935 Laptop and I am wanting to do a full factory restore. My problem is the laptop came with Windows Vista installed but I recently installed windows 7 so now my ALT F10 wont work and the erecovery is no longer installed. I have downloaded it from the Acer website and installed it but when it says please restart to continue the factory restore it just restarts windows as normal.I used ParTEDIT32 to view the PQservice partition and its still there and as far as I know its in tacted. I also tried creating recovery discs using the erecovery program and it created 2 DVDs but when I use them they dont work, an error apearers. It loads up the windows files needed, asks me my language etc, but when its about to start installed the files the error apearers. Now im cant remember what error it is and i dont want to re try a third time to find out as if I do then my pc wont boot up. It says missing bootmgr and Im forced to re-install Windows 7.Ive tried running CMD and and accessing the x drive (pqservice) and typed mbrwrwin.exe install rtmbr.bin but it says its not recongised.please help. Many Thanks

Answer:Acer Aspire Factory Restore, No ALT F10

... you might have to copy the files to your c: drive first then type: mbrwrwin install rtmbr.bin [press enter] (should re-enable mbr <Alt> <F10> function)... you should be able to get them from here scroll to bottom of page wait 40 sec's click download.... you also might be able to evoke the recovery from partition folder D2D (where ever the file is?) typing d2d32.exe [press enter] (untested) ... You could try this but as it was part way through a restore I'm not hopeful:Turn off, remove power, remove laptop main battery. In the Erecovery management program gets through to about 41% then provides an error and will not go any further. Initially there was a corrupted or missing file that would not allow the computer to load into windows. It reccomended to do a rercovery through the "alt f10" function on the actual computer. Hey all. I'm new here so I hope I'm posting in the right forum.

Here's my problem. I have an Acer Aspire One (Windows XP) from a friend who wanted the malware removed. I worked on it for a bit, after a few frustrating hours I decided it was too far gone and proceeded to back up everything and do a factory restore. I first tried it through the Acer recovery in Windows. It got to a certain point, stopped at DRIVER.CAB the gave me a Restore Failed Reason: 0xf0000005. So I clicked to restart and decided to try the Alt F10. Same thing..it gets to the same spot and gives me the error. Now when I try to boot normally it says "NTLDR.EXE is missing. Press ctrl alt del to restart". So I was stuck. I emailed Acer support and they told me to do what I already tried to do. I emailed again and they told me the warranty was up and gave me a URL where I could order restore CDs. . So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas I could try other than ordering them. Please note, if you're not familiar with the Acer Aspire One, it has NO CD ROM or floppy drive. I will post more information if needed. Thank you

Answer:Acer Aspire One Restore Failed!

Do you have a USB thumb drive? My daughter has one of these. It has XP Home. Do you have a legitimate copy of XP Home? Copy it direct to the thumb drive and set the bios to boot from USB drive and use the key on the back of the unit to install. If the home CD is OEM there is a chance it won't except the key.

How do I perform a factory reset on my acer aspire desktop? Could not remember the password and access the computermessage edited by flip1

Answer:acer aspire factory restore

As best I recall there in't usually a password for this...?What model Acer do you have? Generally the factory reset/recovery is done via the Alt key and then F10.See this earlier discussion about an Acer desktop:http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum...And another guide here:http://en.kioskea.net/faq/2040-acer...http://techietalkz.com/2011/05/03/h...I suggest you read the info in all three links first...Have you safeguarded (copied) all your personal files etc. off the system entirely? Remember the factory. Rest wipes the drive fully in process, so all your personal files will be lost. So wise to safeguard them first by copying to DVD at least, and if possible an external hard drive too. And make this a regular practice too - as safeguard against "any mishaps" in the future. Then set about the reset if really needed. Why the need for reset; is it necessary?

Computer fails to boot. 5 partitions all GPT style. How can I use recovery partition to reinstate the factory condition. No CD or dvd - nothing happens on booting. Thank you

Answer:acer aspire factory restore

You say: "computer fails to boot"...A little general/vague as an opening comment? Perhaps a few more details would help here? Does it actually start the boot process; if so any error messages or "other clues"?Model number would be useful to know too if pholks are to help you...Also if there's "anything" on the system as is that you would like to preserve (personal files, music, videos, photos etc...) then consider how to recover those first - "before" you go into any factory reset/restore routines. Factory reset "will wipe ALL your personal files..." in the process.Download and burn to a DVD an ISO for Ubuntu (a popular such Linux variant).ubuntu.com.Boot up with the DVD.It will load itself into the installed RAM only; it will not touch or install to the hard drive. It will run from RAM and will be a little slower than an actual fully installed OS, but it will run OK - if it boots up OK.If the system boots up OK from the Ubuntu DVD you may then be able find/access the hard drive and copy all your personal stuff to external storage - typically DVD.Once you have done that - and checked the copies are OK (accessible on at least one normally working system), proceed to resolve you main problem...

Hi,

The problem I have encountered has happened twice recently.

My netbook would not connect and seemed to freeze etc...I went to system restore but the next message to come up stated there were no restore points...I had restored several weeks prior to this.

Also a message came up that I had no active web security even though I have a current McAfee prog installed...it had been turned off...this has happened twice over the past few weeks.

There were also a couple of other minor changes to my netbook that had happened, such as changes to the screen layout and other things.

It is all sorted out now but what could have been the problem please ?

Thanks.

If you do not have access to a set of recovery media, you may be able to purchase them by visiting our Acer Store and clicking on eRecovery. If the eRecovery application has been removed or the hidden partition has been altered, there is no download available that will allow you to restore it." I hope this answers your question, if so please select solved.

I have a Acer Aspire One Model AOA110-1588 netbook running Windows XP with all the latest updates. It is running extremely slow. It ran faster when I first got this netbook. I decided that I would restore it to its original factory defaults. This model does not have an optical drive, however the documentation states that I can restore it by selecting ALT & F10 during start-up and it would go into a restore menu and sequence getting the original setup from the secondary SSD drive. When I attempted this procedure no menu appeared. I attempted several times and ensured that the BIOS was enabled for Disk to Disk function as specified by the manual. I have the System CDs but no way to use them except copying them to a USB Thumb Drive if that would work. Does any one have a suggestion or experience with this type of a problem.

Thanks,

So I bought this little notebook off a friend. I wanted to restore it back to factory settings so I could start it from fresh. I used googdle to find out how to restore it, and apparently the way to do it was, "shut down, turn on and immediately hold alt whilst tapping F10". this should bring up options for a restore. Well it kinda did, it brought up Samsung recovery solution 3. So I went with it (thinking this must be the right way). I went for the 'complete restore', as that is what I wanted when I read the information. Then I popped up with an error message............."the selected restore image is not compatible with this computer, if you restore this computer with this restore image, this computer will not operate properly". so of course I clicked cancel.
There is no other options to do anything else, so I exited the SRS3 window and the computer shuts down automatically. I now turn it back on, leave it to start up, and it just pops up with the Samsung recovery solution window again, and I now cant do anything.
Ive tried loads of things, attempting to enable and disable things.....F2, F4, F8, F12, ALT+F10. Nothing is letting me start the computer normally.
HELP please, I'm losing my mind!!!

Our HP died, so we found a Acer Aspire X1430g on clearance at Walmart for $240 so we snatched it up. It was purchased on Friday 6.1.12 and I still do not have it up and running.

When I got it set up I tried activating the Anti virus software that came with it. It just kept saying activating and sat there forever. I tried to visit some websites and some wouldn't load, others would take forever, windows live messenger would not sign in. I did the Acer E recovery since I didn't have a reboot disk made yet. It got all the way to step 29 of 29 and sat there and sat there, not going any further so I shut the computer down. Tried it again, and the same thing happened, it got to step 29 and that's as far as it got. I left the computer alone for 6+ hours while it was on step 29. I'm no expert but I am sure it does not take that long to restore a computer. Frustrated, I chatted with Acer and provided them with the serial number off the side of the unit. He told me that I would have to purchase the recovery disk off their website since the unit was purchased in November 2011. I told him again that it was a brand new unit and he said I would have to fax proof of purchase and serial numbers to prove we just bought it. I asked if there was any way we could check to see if it was installed properly at the factory and he said no, the E recovery was the only way to fix this problem. I have an Acer Aspire M5-581T. I purchased it directly from Acer. This was a settlement based on a class action suit. I was required to buy a refurbished. As such I did not receive my Restore disk, or anything else in the package, although I paid additional cash around $195 on top of the allowance. I am now receiving a message that my "computer needs repair" with a File:/BCD and Error code : 0xc000000d.Basically, my operating system appears to be "gone". I have called and searched for help, but short of paying $99 per half an hour to someone in India to fix it, I have found no help. Should I not be able to receive a restore disk from Acer?Acer's website will not even give an option to talk to anyone. All I get is "your warranty expired on 3/12/2013. I did not even own this laptop then! Any help or suggessions will be greater appreciated.Darius

Answer:Acer Aspire M5-581T Restore disk

I would suggest you to rebuild the BCD (Boot Configuration Data) from Command prompt and check if that helps. 1. Insert the Windows 8 installation/recovery media and boot the computer using the disc.if you don't have a media installation or recovery:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media Note: You need to check the computer manual on how to set CD/DVD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS. 2. Once you boot using the Windows installation disc, on the Windows 8.1 installation window, click on Repair your computer. 3. Click on Troubleshoot and in the Advanced options. First thing you may try is the Automatic Repair. If that does not help, go for System restore. If that works fine, then create a system restore point so that next time you encounter any problems you may always restore the computer to the recent system restore point created. 4. If that does not help, then select Command Prompt. Answer:acer aspire 5310 factory restore

I'd start by looking in the manual, most new laptops have a restore partition and a BIOS key that invokes the restore process.

My Wife's laptop Acer Aspire One D255 with OS Win 7 Starter, needed to be restored and a clean install, the problem is that when it was first bought no backups were made mainly because it doesn't have a disc drive.

I used the Advanced Recovery Method that was pre-installed to ''Return your computer to factory condition'' and all was well until it got to the last stage 42/42 installing sysprep factory mode.
It hanged there for over 2 hours with no movement or activity light and so i had to force a restart.
Now as far as im aware the re-installation was a success as it boots fine and all programs seem to be there and it is working fine.
what i dont know though is if it will continue to be fine and everything has installed like it should of as the process was forced to close.
The only thing i can see that im not sure was there before is a 2min icon/logo on the welcome/home screen.

How can i be sure if the install completed?
Can i do anything to make sure it does install fully if i need to do it again?
Why did it stick at that point?
What is the 2min logo/icon?

many thanks

Answer:ACER Aspire System Restore stuck!

I suspect the 42/42 step hangup was not really a problem. If everything works, it should run OK, in the future. If there was a problem because of the step hangup or not installing properly you would see it immediately.

I don't know what the logo/Icon is. I had an Acer but it was a full laptop, not a netbook. I had a Samsung netbook with the Win 7 starter and I had a USB connected CD/DVD burner and was able to create the needed backup discs, if they were ever needed (fortunately they were not).

Hi sr49dx Click start, & type in search box: recovery management. This will bring up the Erecovery program. Follow the on screen instructions. When done, install the usual 10 Million Windows updates, all your programs & you're done! Just remember to back up all your files/documents
