Preferred Solution: why can I not access one particular site

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: why can I not access one particular site

Is the site a secret? Could be the site is down.

I have a client with 3 remote offices. Lets call them A, B and C. These offices are tied together in a "mesh" fashion with site to site IPSec VPN tunnels on ASA 5510's. Everything there works fine. Site A is, Site B is and site C is

They have about 30 remote "field" users that connect into office "A" via Cisco IPSec VPN client and get a address.

Recently they installed a couple servers at site B and C that these remote access users require access to while connected to the remote VPN to site "A"

Is it possible to somehow route or allow traffic from the remote access VPN users over the site to site VPN's?

If so, any input on how to configure this? Just a basic abstract would help. Again they are using a single ASA at each site to complete their topology.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Routing Traffic from Remote Access VPN's over Site to Site VPN's

Probably need to set a route at the remote sites for the VPN pool subnet. Also, would need to add the remote site networks to the tunnel list for the remote VPN

I am stumped, here is what I got:
Site A is the server,
Site B is a client,

These 2 sites connect and work great, no issues.

Users from site A can talk to site B.
Site B can talk to site A.
Clients can communicate to site A
From a client, cannot hit B. Hit A all day long.

B has been exported.

I'm currently helping a charity with setting up a site 2 site VPN each site has a DG834G configured to establish the VPN link, I can ping the remote server and router IP addresses and i can even connect via remote desktop fine, the problem is that when i try and access any remote shares it times out.

Is it something to do with authentication?

I have been pulling my hair out trying to work out why i can't access the shares remotely.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Site 2 Site VPN can't access remote shares

Have you confirmed the shares work locally to the server? If you can ping and access RDP to the server, I would say the VPN tunnel and network connectivity is functioning correctly. You can try to see if the port is open doing a netstat -an on the server or using telnet to make a connection to the share port on the server via the remote client.

My laptop is HP tablet PC. This problem just happened recently, I can't access to one website (lets call it as where at the same I can access to many other sites with no problem.
it says:
Error 502 - Bad Request

This error is not suddenly happened, if I fresh boot the laptop and directly connect to the internet/ that website, I still can access it but after 1-2 minutes it's down and gives the error.

The confusing things is, when this laptop connected to the network, it makes the whole network can't access that web site. Once, I disconnect the laptop from the network and restart the router, the other pc on the network can access the website very well.

I was curious that my PC got virus or trojan that causing this problem and i scan my pc with antivirus, antispyware, antimalware....the result is I found my PC infected by:
Trojan horse backdoor.agent.ydd
stored in : C:\Document and settings\Network service\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5\AJQOO6c9\rpdeuzxa[1].gif.

After I heal it by antivirus and permanent remove the file manually, the same error still occurred.

Any ideas, what is this? and how I can fix this?

Thanks everybody!!!

We have a domain environment running XP pro machines on a 2003 Server. What is the best/easiest way to restrict access to all websites except ones that we specify? Anyone have an easy solution for this?

Answer:How to restrict IE access, only able to access certain site(s)

Is there a reason you can't run some sort of proxy software?

The site is, more specifically (don't bother checking it will work for you)

It times out on IE and mozilla, however:

-I can ping it
-I can telnet to it
-I can telnet to it on port 80 and send http headers and get a response
-I can connect to it via an anonymizer service

I scanned my computer for spyware, it's fine, and also I searched every file on my computer for the word "dynamixservers" to see if it was in a block list or something. It's not.

Same for the registry.

Also, if I type in the ip number of the site (obtained via ping), the site comes up, however it's not configured to provide content that way, so while it connects, it's virtually useless that way.

Any ideas?

EDIT: a few other things

-Ran spybot and adaware. nothing came up
-the site works for cpanel and webmail ports, just not the actual site (in browser that is).
-I've already done the basic things:
=deleted temp internet files for both browsers
=double checked proxy settings in both browsers
=reset modem/router
=tried without router (direct connection to the cable modem)

Answer:Can't access site via browser, can access every other way however.

is it just that site or all sties?

Anyone out there smart enough to fix my issue?

I have two PCs at home (a laptop and a desktop) connected to Globe Wimax (my local internet service provider).

I started having issues accessing a particular website (I chose not to mention the name of the website) two days ago, both on my laptop and desktop however, I am able to access this site from other computers, I even tried browsing using my laptop but connected to the internet at Starbucks, it worked fine.

*When I pinged the site: ping request could not find host.

*I tried accessing using mozilla (connection time out), IE (Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage), Chrome (This webpage is not available)

*I cleared cache/history, restarted pc, reset modem, went to huawei echolife interface (which was useless)- no go

*Tried accessing the said site in safe mode with networking- no go

*I even did system restore- no go

After all the troubleshooting steps I did, I finally tried accessing using a proxy server ( and it worked, I was able to access the site BUT I am not so sure it's safe this way plus its slower.

Can anyone help me figure this out? I already called my ISP's tech support and as expected, I'm smarter than the person I spoke with. I am pretty sure that its an ISP issue since I can access using other computer in another location and same laptop different I... Read more

Answer:Can't Access a Certain Site But Able to Do So Using Other PC/ISP

Most likely there is a problem with your ISP's routing, or it's a "naughty" site that they are blocking, or your IP address is blacklisted. Those blacklists are for SPAM email, but sometimes a site blocks access based on a list, and many dynamically assigned public addresses end up on one or more blacklists.

You apparently posted here using a proxy and chose to not reveal the problem site, so there's not much more I know to do for you. If you want to pursue the routing issue, try

tracert site.address

in a Command Prompt window. "site.address" being the site's URL--same as you would type in a browser's address bar.

Do it from home and from where you can access the site and compare.

Windows XP SP3. I am unable to access any web sites via IE or Chrome. I can ping IP addresses but not URL addresses. Searching this topic on another computer, led me to believe there was a problem with corrupt WMI service and instructed me to run the following which I did successfully.

rundll32 wbemupgd, UpgradeRepository
cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem
for %i in (*.dll) do RegSvr32 -s %i
for %i in (*.exe) do %i /RegServer

I then attempted to run
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection WBEM 132 %windir%\inf\wbemoc.inf
but without a Windows XP CD this was only partially successful.

The net effect is that I am still unable to access any web sites through the browsers. This is a laptop that was previously used in a corporate environment. It will not allow me to do a system restore since it was turned off by group policy even though I'm logged on as administrator. I don't know of a way to get around that.

Please help me get back my web access working once again.

I am having issues accessing a site by getting an "Address not found" error.
Everyone I know who are in my IP range can't access the site, but others who are in the same region as me with the same ISP but a different IP range can access it. Everyone who are on a different ISP as mine or who are abroad can access it.
And when I type in the IP of the site from my computer instead of typing the domain name, it works.

What is causing this? Is it possible to determine if this issue is coming from my ISP or from the website's host?

Good day everyone!

I'm quite new in this area and got a very strange problem.
I cannot access to my website ( only from my office, but I can access my website from my house which is on the same ISP as my office (but different account) and other places which is on different ISPs.

So I called to ISP about this problem, but they had no idea. They said my office ip is not blocked at all and should be fine (also saying need to contact hosting company). So I asked the Hosting company, and they say they have no idea because they can access to the site (and saying contact to ISP).

I've got stuck in the middle and think I need to find the solution for myself...

The strange thing is I can access the website from my IE6, IE7, Firefox, and Safari on Windows XP (my notebook), but not from Opera and flock on Windows Xp (my notebook) and Firefox on Linux (desktop).

I cannot access to my mail server and FTP from my office of course, but I can access everything from my home.
It seems ISP problem but when I trace it, I've got 'Requested timed out' error after 64.62.xx.xx which is in the California somewhere and my Host server is in California.
Of course I cannot ping

But my another website ( on the different hosting company is totally fine to access (FTP and mail server as well) from my office and my home.

I guess it all happened after hosting company installed SSL for me, but not sure it's because of this.

It would ... Read more

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft Windows can examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings.

Have you verified those items? It sounds like an issue with "secure" pages.

What version of IE are you running and does it show 128 bit encryption installed?

Firewalls can also affect these issues. Some have an option for so-called "privacy" controls which prevent the browser from releasing data required by secure sites.

Here is a general laundry list of things to check:

If you still have a problem after following that, let us know exactly what things you have done or verified and provide a HijackThis scanlog for review.
Create a new, permanent folder for HijackThis and save the file to that. Run it and select "do a system scan and save the log file". Then copy/paste the contents of the log to a reply

I am able to access all the websites I need - with one constant and infuriating exception! Every time I try to log on to the Octopus Travel site, it freezes up. I have tried disconnecting Zonealarm - and I can access the site from my work computer, so I'm not being a complete idiot. I've also tried tinkering with the Java check boxes in Internet Options but, for some reason I just can't get into the site. I am running Windows ME with Internet Explorer 6. The Octopus "technical help people" are at a loss. Any ideas please?

Answer:Can't access just one site

Is this the site?:click here#I have been having a tinker myself, I notice it relies heavily on JavaScript. How far do you get before it freezes. The only thing I can think of at the moment is either try a repair of IE or even try and reinstall IE from the windows update folder.

Whatever your politics may be, I hope you will accept this as a serious cry for help.
I'm working with a Corbyn Support Group and there is a site we need to access for snippets of info, breaking news, etc.
Whenever I click on a link for the site, this is what I get:
This site can?t provide a secure connection uses an unsupported protocol.

The client and server don't support a common SSL protocol version or cipher suite. This is likely to be caused when the server needs RC4, which is no longer considered secure.

I have no idea what any of this means! Others in the group assure me that they are able to access both this website and its FaceBook page - which also comes up for me as 'Not Available.

Please help!

Cannot access

The site will time out. Tried to ping the ip and that timed out... 100% packet loss.

Could access previously no problem. Had bad tech call experience and now cannot access (not sure if related). tried ie9, chrome and safari on an ipad and all the same.

dumped caches, flushed dns, rebooted router, rebooted compters.. called isp. No one has an answer, and just cant get to their site.

arrrrrgggghhhhh... all i wanted to do was contact their support to try and figure out how t add a link into a wordpress template i purchased from them.

:-)... help.

Answer:Cannot access one site only

The fact it is only this one website indicates that either your connection blocks the site (from your ISP, your router, possibly even your sercurity software) or their end is having trouble.

Looking at the site myself, there appears to be a problem on their server. When I try to access it, the site will load, extremely slowly, and with a LOT of glitches. At first glance, my guess would be that their website exceeded its bandwidth allowance and is being throttled.

If the issue persists more than a day, let me know and I'll give you their contact e-mail so you can ask them about the connection issue. In the mean time, I suggest you check you network security settings and determine if the website was blocked by accident.

Hello wally, Your hijack log looks clean.

It could be your trend micro personal firewall settings. As a trial, you can unistall, then try the Windows update to see if it fixes the problem or not.
- If it does, you may need to fine tune your settings or run without the firewall (I dont suggest you run without a firewall, perhaps get another firewall such as Zonealarm or such)
- If it does not fix the problem, you can reinstall Personal Firewall.

Instruction to uninstall and reinstall are:
Go to the \Programs\Trend Micro\Internet Security 2005 folder. Look for the PCCTOOL.exe file and double-click on it.
Click [E] Uninstall > 3. Uninstall Firewall.
The message prompt Do you want to Uninstall the Personal Firewall? appears. Click Uninstall.

Last night I had problems visiting one single website, . I know I am the only one having this problem and I can access any other sites just fine. I had been doing several CTRL+Refreshes while browsing that site as new graphics were being uploaded.

No other computers on my network can access the site. I get a Connection timed out or server not found.

I tried another wireless connection and I still can not access the site.

I have tried it on a computer running XP, Vista (using right now) and on my Mac.

I have tried multiple browsers.

I have run CCleaner.

I have flushed DNS.

I have set router to dynamically detect ISP and DNS servers instead of using my static IP set-up.

Incredibly frustrating as I am on staff there.

I'd be eternally grateful for a solution this problem.

I have tried with security set to minimum and Zone Alarm disabled with the same result. would anyone have any idea as to why i'm not able to access a certain web site ( ) all of a sudden? i've been there hundreds of times, in fact, it's a site i subscribe to. i e-mailed the site owner and she sees no problems on her end. other subscribers of this site do not have a problem either. this is the only site i'm having trouble accessing.

the only thing i can think of that may be somewhat related to this problem is that i did install GOOGLE desktop at about the same time this problem started. oddly, i no longer have GOOGLE desktop installed, yet i didn't uninstall it. i searched my entire computer and it's no longer there. again, this may or may not have anything to do with my not being able to access the web site.

any light you may shed on this would be most appreciated.

I was trying to go on a clan site for Battlefield 2 of a server I played on today.

Their site is:

I tried to access it and I got this:

You are using an Invalid IP to access this site! Please refer to the Trouble Shooting section.

When I went to the Trouble Shooting section, I got a "Page can not be displayed."

I've never had this problem before, or problems with any other site. This is the only one I know of I can't go on and other users have tried the site and it works fine.

Any ideas? If I'm missing some software I need to install to be able to access the site, then it's not worth it, but I'm wondering why I have an "invalid IP".

What's up? BTW... I'm using a Cable modem with a Linksys router set to Obtain IP Automatically with DHCP.

Following advice on this forum I got rid of Microsoft's java and downloaded and installed Sun's java. I don't know if I need to tweak it to get it to work but noticed a problem on a web site I frequently use. The web site is the International Species Information System ( On the left hand side of the site's homepage there should be a menu. I know the menu uses javascript. Since changing to Sun's java the menu will not load when I visit the site.

Answer:Cant access all of web site

Just so you know javascript and java are completely diffrent things. Although in this case the menu appears to be java.

As for the actual issue's you're having I'm not quite sure what to say. Suns java isn't as widely supported as MS's java VM. Once SUN refused to allow MS to continue supporting their VM some companies started to adjust their applets to work with suns version, but the fact is not everyone has done so just yet. So some sites simply won't work correctly unless you have the MS JVM. Although usally the compatibilty errors are minor and you at least get some functionality.

Are you sure you're running the newest version of sun's VM? Which browser are you using? Are you certain you've enabled it (in IE's it's under tools>internet options>advanced)

"......everything was just fine until web site was down and the host was changed."
Yours certainly sounds like a DNS problem. You've got two options:
1) Do nothing and wait until your current DNS server is updated with the correct IP address.
2) Use a different DNS server such as OpenDNS - you can find setup instructions here. I've tested the OpenDNS server and it can resolve to the correct IP address so that should solve your problem.

Answer:Can't access one particular site (HJT log within)

Don't know if this would apply here for you but I had a similar problem and thought it was caused by firewall or antivirus as I could get into anything else i tried.

Somebody here mentioned it could be something in Java that sometimes they need to get updated. In my case i had reformatted and Java was not even there.

anyway you probably have nothing to lose to go into the control panel and open up Java and update it.

What AV have you got?
Scan with Malware Bytes Anti Malware for starters. I'm sure there's a sticky in the virus section of this site.

Question: access a web site

How to aceess a web site and send some data from one computer to another computer. Both the comp are in different LAN.

Answer:access a web site

Are you talking about just file transfers?...

In a corporate environment?... Juniper makes some nice SSL VPN products that would probably work well. (

In a home environment?... How about something like GoToMyPC? If your home router can do port forwarding, you could also think about something like Remote Desktop or SSH.

I did all the steps in Davids pin up and I'm still not able to get in. There is no error #. Been on this all day. Had Microsoft access my computer to find out why I can't access my favorite web site. Google, Yahoo. Doesn't matter what search engine you use. Pops up: Internet Explorer can not display web page. I've been able to access that web page from two other computers but not mine. Microsoft tells me it's my provider. So I call them(verizon) and they share my computer to find the problem but can't. They accessed that web site from a different proxy server, set a short cut on my desk top. It worked for a while, now it doesn't work. Can ANYONE tell me what next?????

Tried dropping firewalls, unhooked router. Still nothing. Able to access site thru Kproxy, but if i try a link on that site it won't go thru. ???????

I am stumped!

From one computer on my home network, I cannot access a particular web-site ( - if you must know!) By cannot access, I mean that both IE7 and FF2 just hang.

Using two other computers on my home network, I can access the site just fine.

I have tried turning off pop-up blockers, Adblock Plus, killing my AV, checking that the site is not listed in 'Restricted Sites', i.e., everything I can think of - which means there is something I am forgetting. Can you please offer some suggestions (other than use the other computers!).

I'm trying to log on to Autophoria car forum at click hereKeep getting:-"The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings" Adjusted all I can but no joy. What is odd is that both our PC and laptop can't log on, and I know that other users (I asked at another forum) can log on - so the site is activeWhat's stopping me?! Any ideas appreciated!

Answer:Can't access one particular site

I just tried and had no problems. Some companies update their websites at weekends, and because of this the site can be unavailable for a while. I suggest you try again.

I can only access '1' internet site (my broker's), and none other.

Initially, a dial-up turbocharger made a mess of things. I removed it, and re-installed my Windows ME (along with the old I.E. 5.5). Now, everything seems fine except for this one site only problem.

Someone directed me to a program called win2fix, that did give me a 5 day fix, and then the problem returned with win2fix having no further effect. I've since tried 'LSP-Fix' from this site, and run 'TcpView,' but to no avail. I've scanned for viruses, removed spyware with 2 programs, re-installed ME again, etc., and am about to toss the towel (= take it to town$). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, kindly. NS

Hi,I am a technical consultant giving (free) advice on a US health web site. Recently I have been unable to access the site from any PC I have tried. It appears others in the UK are having the same problem, but the people in the US are OK. I did some light research and the site (altho only a couple of months old) is on spam black lists and wondered if this is anything to do with it.I really need to get on as there will be so many people in need of my help. Does anyone have any suggestions?Thank you so much in anticipation,Sally

Answer:Cannot access US web site from the UK

The following link is to my county library and I have used it forever. Starting last Friday I couldn't access it. I thought they were having a problem and upon checking today they say no problem on their end.

I had a neighbor check to see if he could get on it and he had no problem.

I am using RoadRunner and he is on something else which I don't think is the problem as I can get to any other site I want to.

I have checked my host file, restricted sites, empited TIF and deleted all cookies and I am still getting the "This page cannot be displayed".

I turned off my firewall and lowered my privacy setting to low and still no access.

I have typed the url in and also goggled the Brazoria County Library and tried clicking on that link and still it will not come up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try thisgo to Tools/Internet Options/Security tab/click on Trusted Sites/click on Custom Level.../ scroll down to "Websites in less privileged web content zone etc...." - if it is set to Enable then Disable (or if it is set to Disable then Enable) and click OK etc.If this doesn't solve the problem (or if it causes any other problem) then repeat the process and set it back to how it was.

Question: access to web site

It all started when I tried to log on to Their website kept telling me to enable my java script in order to do my tax return. It was already enabled but I went through the process about six times before giving up on trying to start my tax return.

I don't know what else I may have clicked, but now I get this pop-up on my desktop that says "Internet Explorer Script error" in the top blue area and "An error has occured in the script on this page" in the gray box.

I've even tried "System Restore" to go back to yesterday and fix it and I get a blank page under system restore. If I go to internet sites, it will only take me so far and no farther. "Search" from the start button says "a file that is required to run search cannot be found.

I had a website up and just changed hosts but since I changed hosts I cannot access my site from my home computer I can access it from any other computer but not my own,
I have tried all the obvious, I deleated my history folder and deleated all cookies, shut down rebooted, etc,
I use yahoo DSL as a connection and my new host said the problem lies with them, but Sbc yahoo said it is not their problem as everything works fine,
Any ideas

Answer:Cannot access a site

Your ISP may be caching the pages, so have not updated their servers to show the new addition. Can take a couple days sometimes.

If you can see it everywhere else, then that is probably the case, unless you have your site located in a hosts file on your system.
