Preferred Solution: firefox won't download zip files

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: firefox won't download zip files

Update: I ran a windows zip restore and now firefox will download as a zip file but only 30% any help this problem I think I must have changed something but I can't find it.

I'm running windows 7, on a Dell Optiplex 755. It's been quite some time since my last reformat, but I'd like to avoid doing that if possible. What happens when I try to download or extract the file is the process completes, but the file(s) immediately disapear(s). The odd thing about it is I'm able to create files myself with other programs, and I can download through Chrone just fine. I would just use chrome, but It's a work computer and We're supposed to use IE. Being able to extract .zip files would also be nice. Has anyone else heard of/seen this issue? Let me know if you need any more information.

Answer:Cannot download files in IE/Firefox, and can't extract .zip files!

"It's a work computer" implies that your IT department will not want you or us to be messin' with it.

Whenever I try to download a .zip file i get this error

For example i wanted to download this small program called "tsearch":
"C:\Downloads\ could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

now i have 2 files in the downloads folder.

a zip file called tsearch that is 0 KB in size

and a PART (whatever that is) file callled that is 1,415 KB in size

the error usually occurs between 60%-80% in the download.
any thought?

I can't get Firefox to download pdf files, which IE does with no difficulty. I have looked at the Tools menu and 'allowed' the sites concerned to load pop-ups, but this doesn't help. In the Downloads menu I notice that pdf files don't appear in the list of 'View and Edit Actions' files, but I can't see any way of adding the pdf extension. It's annoying to have to revert to IE whenever I want to download a pdf, so what do I need to do?

Sorry this post will be long, but I want to give you all the information I can.
Problem: I am unable to download files from email attachments or online using Firefox. I am able to download files using Internet Explorer. I was able to download files using Firefox 29.x, but have not been able to with any updates following. I reverted back to 29.x after updating to 30.x assuming that it would correct itself in the next update. However, I updated to 33.x yesterday and have the same problem. Upon running Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware I have numerous tracking cookies that reappear with each scan without surfing the internet (They are usually in a Mozilla/Firefox folder even though I have not opened FF. FF seems to be running really slow since the update also.
When trying to download the file FF goes to Not Responding (if left alone it will do it for hours.) Click anywhere on the screen again and it says that FF has stopped responding and ask to "Close program now" or "Wait for program to respond". When you close the program it gives you a progress bar and says searching the internet for a solution. The program then shuts down.

1. Every time I try to download an exe file it cancels mid-download & when I try to re-fresh the download and continue- it will not let me open the download. (I've tried merging EXE (lnk and regfile) Fix for Windows XP onto my pc with no results)
2. When I right-click on the attempted download file the 'open' option is muted gray and won't let me click it.
3. I have re-set Firefox to download to wherever I specify but the exe files never make it to my preference of the desktop because they are not fully downloading.
4. I'm running Windows XP & Firefox.
5. I had a trojan virus a few weeks ago that was quarantined and removed BUT I have yet to be able to fix the damage it did in disallowing new exe downloads.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!

I am unable to download any files using Mozilla Firefox. For example lets say I want to download Winrar, I get the "save to location" dialog box but once I choose my location and click save the dialog box disappears and nothing happens. No file is downloaded. I also have no indication of a download in the "Download progress box." IE seems to work fine.

I tried reinstalling Firefox and messing with my browser security settings as well as windows firewall. Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Whenever I click on a .wmv file link in firefox, the video downloads completely first and then plays in Windows Media Player. For some reason this is new behavior. It used to just send the link to the WMP so that it would begin streaming/playing right away.
How can I fix that?

Answer:WMV files download in firefox, not stream

You might check in a few places.

Firefox: tools > options > downloads > WMV files > open in default application; also, same place, click Advanced and make sure the WMV plugin is enabled. You might disable it, exit FF, reenable, exit FF again, restart FF and see where you are.

Also, check buffer settings for WMP. It might be that WMP is having the issue, not FF.

If you aren't using DRM protected content, you can try to use an alternate player like Media Player Classic to see if the behavior continues.

Hey All,

I have some questions about Firefox 20's download process:

1.) Has the "All files have finished downloading message, been removed?" If not, do you still get a confirmation?

2.) Can this confirmation message be turned on and off by the user?

3.) When does the virus scanner scan in Version 20?

Answer:Firefox 20 Changes to Download Files Questions?

Yes, you still get the confirmation message when the download completes.

To turn it off, type about:config in the address bar, go to "" and change it to false.

There's also a setting called "" which by default is set to true so it scans the downloaded file with your anti-virus program as soon as it's done downloading.

Hi. I just started noticing a problem recently with downloading anything from a browser. I use Firefox normally, and everything was all good until I tried downloading a driver off the Dell website and when it finishes download, it will never run. I always get an error message. I tried downloading the same file with IE, and it still does not run. I thought it might have been a problem with the file, but I've tried downloading different files without luck. I thought it might be a Firefox problem, so I uninstalled Firefox, and now I can't download Firefox back into my computer using IE (file downloads as Firefox 26.0 stub.exe) and it doesn't run.

I have no problems downloading torrents, but I use uTorrent. I'm not sure what exactly is going on. Does anyone have any clue as to what's happening?

Some extra notes:
- The file shows that it is a completed download. When I go to run it, it pops up an error message.
- I have tried downloading different things from different sites, and nothing works.
- I have tried shutting off my AV and malware programs, and still no luck.
- Seems to be browser related because I can download from my gmail and torrents.

Answer:Cannot download files using firefox or IE, but other downloads work

Hello mischief and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'd try using System Restore to roll back my computer to a date/time prior to when this problem first started.

System Restore

I'd also run a full anti-virus scan. I'd supplement that with another full scan using the free product called Malwarebytes.

Hi Smart People-

I'm running Windows XP & Firefox. I can no longer download any new exe files. I had a trojan virus that I was eventually able to remove but I have yet to be able to fix the damage it did in disallowing new exe downloads.
Every time I try to download a suggested fixer file it cancels mid-download & when I try to re-fresh the download and continue- it will not let me open the download.

Any suggestions?

I haven't found a thread online that seems to relate directly & give answers to fix the issue I'm facing- all I've seen show variations on the theme but not exact matches.

Thank you in advance for your time & knowledge!

I'm using Firefox Portable 3.5.2 and have the download managers Flashgot and Downloadthemall! installed. I also have Downloadhelper installed.

When I go to download avi files I don't have the option to use my download manager to get the files. When I put the avi file address into the address bar and hit enter, the "save file as" window comes up. I don't get the usual options of using running the file, using Flashgot or saving the file via Firefox. I've looked in the options/preferences for Firefox, Flashgot and Downloadthemall! and found nothing that helps (although I may have missed something).

How do I solve this problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

Firefox 2.0 has managed to slip in the shadow of the latest iteration of Mozilla's open source browser, namely Firefox 3.0. However, at least for the time being, version 2.0 is still alive and kicking, even if this situation will not be perpetuated in 2009, according to the official plans that the developer made available following the availability of Firefox 3.0. But until version 3.0 completely takes over the install base of its predecessor, Mozilla will continue to breathe life into Firefox 2.0. In this context, Firefox, the latest stability and security update for the open source browser is now available for download.

Mozilla failed to make the official announcement as of yet, but the latest release of Firefox 2.0 went live on the company's FTP servers and was confirmed at the Weekly Status Meeting on July 14, 2008. At that time, Mozilla indicated that Firefox would go live in the afternoon of July 15, 2008. The fact is that the build is already up for grabs, designed to fix various issues with the browser, but being mainly a release focused on patching security vulnerabilities.

Firefox is already in the works, and will take version 2.0 one step closer to its death. Mozilla plans to kill off support for Firefox 2.0 in mid December 2008. It is unclear at this point in time whether Mozilla will be capable of convincing the entire install base of the open source browser to jump to the latest version by the end of this year. I've done this before, and have searched, searched, and searched and can't find a way to do it again.
For example, I was downloading updates for Studio MX this morning. Only 2 downloads at a time would be active, and the rest would just sit there waiting. I know there is a registry tweak to fix this, but I can't find it. Google+Forum Searches=Nothing

And I know that some people who read this thread use download accelerators. I used DAP, but didn't like the ads. I used FlashGet, but didn't like the ads. Anyone else know of a good accelerator/leecher?

I have 4 browsers on my computer: Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. I am trying to listen to some MP3 files on a website, and all of the browsers, except for IE 8, told me to download the Realplayer Plugin. So I did, and when I tried to listen to the MP3 file, Realplayer will automatically enable this "Autoupdate Helper" thing and check for updates. So I let it check for updates, but then it'll say "There are no updates..." and just stop there. The file won't play! I click play again, and the same thing happens.

Internet Explorer is the only browser smart enough to open the MP3 files on the web page using Quicktime (the website actually tells you to use Quicktime to open the files) but it doesn't load the Youtube videos that are embedded on the site. There's a X on the top left corner of the section where the video is suppose to be.

Now I'm stuck! I want to view all the contents on one page with one browser! But none of the browsers will actually work properly!

So the main problem is:

1. The MP3 files won't load in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera using Quicktime.

Chrome is the only browser I use frequently, and the others are basically backup. IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO THIS!?!?!?

Thanks everyone!

I know other users have had issues with this but I didn't know if I could follow the solutions for their problem or not.

(Not sure what information is helpful so I'll start and the top and be brief)
For my job I am required to sometimes go to 'suspect websites' and normally Norton will catch anything before it even has a chance to download. Sadly, two weeks ago I did download a file called Trojan.Gen (or at least that is what Norton called it). Almost immediately Norton caught and removed all threats but I knew I wasn't going to get off that easy.

For a few days everything seemed fine but shortly after I started seeing attack messages from Norton from \device\harddiskvolume1\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe, the IP and web address changes.

I couldn't tell if it was doing anything to my computer and have since been trying to remove it with no luck with Norton. Now, my web pages are being redirected to either a fake search page or a Pay Per Click page, if I click a link in Google.

Norton and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free are telling me that they are not detecting anything.

I did read the preparation guide, so I hope I have all the information that is needed.

I want to thank you in advance for any help that I can get and I understand that this is a process. I appreciate your time!

My current problem is, a couple download managers that I have used now have done this, the first one was the WoW download manager when it downloads patches, it will work for maybe a minute or so download fast then my internet just goes really slow and the speed drops. The second one was today when im trying to download americas army. It starts downloading at ~100 then goes up to ~400 then eventually goes from 700kb to 900kb after a few minutes my internet just goes really really slow and the speed drops to 60kb a second. Now if i download a file without a download manager usually the files download around 900kb-1.2mb per second and the internet speed seems the same as usuall.

Does anyone know why it is doing this?

My internet speed is about 11mb download and 760kb upload if that helps anyone.
Im using vista ultimate x64, and my computer is hard wired to the router.

Answer:Problem when download files with download managers?

What kind of router? Blizzard's download is peer-to-peer based, which can easily swamp / kill a cheap home grade router. I'm not sure about America's Army though.

When I try to download .exe files, my computer either saves it as 0KB or downloads it and then doesn't let me open the file. No windows pop up to tell me the file is forbidden or anything - clicking just doesn't get a response. I don't think this has to do with the browser I'm using, because this happens on Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer, but for some reason my computer can open .exe files other people downloaded and put on thumb drives for me. This problem possibly predates my installation of Windows 7. (I've had this problem for over a year and a half but decided to find it entertaining rather than annoying enough to fix.)

I use Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and have an out of date version of Avast on my computer (I would uninstall it, but that requires an .exe file on their website), if that's relevant.

Try doing your downloads this way -
When you download something, click Save, and either save to Desktop or Documents,.normally Documents unless told otherwise.
Next click Open and you will see the item/program you downloaded. Next Right click the Icon and click on Properties.
You may see, near the bottom, a box that says Unblock, Click on that and then click Apply.

Recently (within past week) I encountered some type of malware and ran a full scan with Microsoft Essentials ( and other spyware - ie. PCScan, Panda, Spybot) that seemed to clear the problem, at least temporarily, but now I am having a download issue which I believe to be a result of the malware problem from last week. When I attempt to download files from internet (various sites) using Google Chrome I get the error message "insufficient permissions". Also I have tried using Firefox and I cannot download either. I have tried changing the download folder in the attribute section from read only; however this does not help. I am using Windows XP, 32 bit, Professional Version 2002 with service pack 3. I am some what of a novice when it comes to knowing my way around the computer so please be patient with me.

I have Win Vista and can no longer download files from the internet. IE tells me that it cannot download due to security reasons and firefox automatically cancels every download. I have adjusted my security settings to allow for file downloads but this has not helped. I can also no longer drag and drop files to the recycling bin or to move files from one folder to another, i don't know if this is part of the same problem or not but they started occurring at the same time. I have also updated all firefox plugins and have come up clean with a virus scan. The problem is also present in safe mode.

Latest Version of Firefox was being used.

Firefox would not open any page instead giving "Page Load Error". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and it did not change and now Firefox will not reinstall.

Internet Explorer 8 is now having the same problem, yet individual programs can be updated when they connect directly w/o the browser like updates to AVG or Spybot.

One time when I ran IE diagnostic, it identified a Winsock file issue but did not fix it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can post a DDS.txt log, which I ran, if needed.

I run Windows XP pro. IE6 is my default browser, but I also use Firefox.(latest edition) Zone Alarm Security Suite, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, Windows Defender.

My problem is hard to explain, please bear with me.

My download functions normally: Except:

I download documents from a parent company's website.
On the left hand side of the list of documents, there is supposed to be an icon you click on to download. The icon is missing on both browsers.
The only way I can download a document is to enter it into the search bar, and then I can download it.

I need that icon, but can't figure out what is blocking it. It is there if I log on using another computer, so obviously it is my computer which is causing the problem.

I have put the site into the trusted zone, given it every permission I can think of. Bypassed Zone Labs firwall. enabled all cookie settings. Java is functioning properly.

someone please help.

Answer:Can't Download Using Ie Or Firefox.

Have you tried adding the site as trusted in ie browser? ff browser?
In zone alarm try experimenting and give global permissions for cookies, ads and all mobile code - not saying to keep this setting just a test to see if this works and their are other sites which needed to be added to privacy list in zone alarm.

Hi,Im going to download Firefox , is there anything that i need to do before downloading it?Do i have to get rid of IE after that or is there some way to disable IE?Is there anything that i need to know before or after the download ?Thanks

Answer:About to download Firefox .

No you don't have to get rid of IE or even disable it. FF and IE can coexist quite happily. Actually I would recommend you keep IE around since you'll need it if you ever have to visit Windows Update.I cant think of anything you need to do before downloading it. All the fun starts after FF is installed and you begin to customize it.

Answer:I can't download in firefox using XP

If IE works ok and the computer seems ok otherwise then you could try a system restore or last known good configuration or just uninstall firefox and reinstall it.

I have had good luck with firfox running but other browsers such as AOL's have had to be reinstalled so maybe that is what you need to try. I might add i picked up a virus a while back and ever since even though computer is supposedly clean i still can not get netscape to load off the desktop icon. it starts to to load then says it is done. so you may have an issue with firefox similar to this.

Firefox was working properly...until I reformatted and reinstalled. Now, when I want to download something (legal, anything - even just images) it gives me the little popup saying "you have chosen to open ___" and "would you like to save this file?" but as soon as I click "save file" it goes away. Even if I click "open" it goes away. The file is not downloaded. I go under tools/downloads and nothing is in the download list.

Now if I click the button to display the page as Internet Explorer, then it works.

I've updated ff to the current version. turned off AV. no help. I dont have any download managers installed. There was a page with suggestions on the mozilla website and I followed all those, but it still doesn't work.

What could be wrong?

The first Release Candidate Build of Firefox 3.6, codenamed Namoroka, is just around the corner, literally. If all goes according to plans, Mozilla will make available for download the fully-fledged Firefox 3.6 RC 1 tomorrow, January 8th, 2010. On a delivery meeting on January 6th, the developers noted that they were “hoping to ship to [the] beta audience on Friday of this week.” While this does sound rather unreliable, the fact of the matter is that Mozilla is extremely close to delivering the first Release Candidate development milestone of Firefox 3.6.

So close that early adopters can already get a taste of Firefox 3.6 RC. On January 6th, you have been able to read right here on Softpedia that the first build of Firefox 3.6 Release Candidate had been made available for download via Mozilla’s FTP servers. At the time of this article, the candidate builds of Firefox 3.6 continue to be up for grabs.

Users should, however, bear in mind the fact that Firefox 3.6 RC Build 1 is nothing more than a nightly release of the RC milestone and not the actual bits. Such versions are designed for Beta testers who are comfortable with running pre-release software on their computers. And with the full RC just a day away, users might as well decide to wait, and download and run the actual Release Candidate of Firefox 3.6 from Mozilla.

At the same time, Firefox 3.6 has been plagued by a variety of problems. Mozilla postponed various Beta milestones, including ... Read more

Released: Firefox 52.0

Version 52.0, first offered to Release channel users on March 7, 2017
We'd also like to extend a special thank you to all of the new Mozillians who contributed to this release of Firefox!

Added support for WebAssembly, an emerging standard that brings near-native performance to Web-based games, apps, and software libraries without the use of plugins.
Added automatic captive portal detection, for easier access to Wi-Fi hotspots. When accessing the Internet via a captive portal, Firefox will alert users and open the portal login page in a new tab.
Enabled multi-process Firefox for Windows users with touch screens
Added user warnings for non-secure HTTP pages with logins. Firefox now displays a ?This connection is not secure? message when users click into the username and password fields on pages that don?t use HTTPS.
Implemented the Strict Secure Cookies specification which forbids insecure HTTP sites from setting cookies with the "secure" attribute. In some cases, this will prevent an insecure site from setting a cookie with the same name as an existing "secure" cookie from the same base domain.
Enhanced Sync to allow users to send and open tabs from one device to another.

Answer:Firefox will not download

It could be a Profiles problem. The Firefox 1.5 upgrade should bring your 1.0.x Profiles folder up to the 1.5 format. Perhaps that process didn't work for you. I think it's best to create a new Profile anyway when a major upgrade is released. So, perhaps try deleting the existing Profiles folder and get off to a clean start with a new one. I feel this would stand a fairly good chance of remedying the problem.

If you choose to try this, don't forget to back up your 'Bookmarks.html' file before doing anything with the Profiles folder. Extensions etc can always be reinstalled but losing bookmarks can be tragic.

Answer:Cannot download in IE or Firefox

I have also been trying to troubleshoot a similar issue for a friend (for about a week or so now) and am stumped as to what could be causing it.

Anytime a download is initiated in Firefox (3.0.1), the download process completes but the file is automatically deleted (the tooltip in Firefox's download window says 'File Not Found' for one of the details listed). As for Internet Exploder (yes, I meant to call it that ) goes, the downloaded file is not in the designated folder/directory. And in both instances, the file is not locatable via the search string in the start menu.

The only file types that appear to be used ter downloading are .doc's and .pdf's.

As the OP said, any help would be appreciated.

Normally my Firefox will ask me if I want to open or save a zip. file when I clicked download. Now that options seems to be missing (the pop up window).I have recently clicked 'perform same action to this kind of files from now on' from the pop up option, and I no longer see the pop up now. I wish to have that prompt again, so I can choose to save or open a zip file. I have browse the help section in firefox, but couldn't find the help to have it enabled again.Pls help.... Thanks!

Answer:Firefox Download

Try this:Click on Tools then Options. Click on Downloads on the window that pops up. You'll see it near the top, 2nd choice from the right.Under Download Folder, see if there is a little green dot in the little radio button by Ask me where to save every file. If there isn't, click on the little radio button.Under Download Manager, see if there is a check in the little box by Show download manager when a download begins. Click on the little box if there isn't.If that doesn't work, then try this:Go to Downloads as you did before. This time, click on View and Edit Actions near the bottom left of that window. Another little window will open up, and you will see a list of file types on the left and the programs assigned to open them on the right. Depending on the file type, when you click on it, a Remove button will become active. In all cases, a Change button will become active. If you use the Remove button, Firefox will again ask you what to do with that file type the next time it comes up in your browsing. If you use the Change button, you can change the program Firefox will use to open it. You won't get the window asking you what to do with the file.Hope this helps,Orange Blossom

I can't download anything with Firefox. Images sent in emails won't even load. I tried to download Adobe and the screen changes then nothing happens. I click on the "if your download does not start automatically click here" and I get a "not responding" message at the top of the screen. I also get what seems to be a lot of "page loading errors" when I am surfing. Pages eventually load fine. Flash works fine. Just can't download. Anyone else have this problem?

I can download fine with IE. So I don't think it is my firewall. I prefer Firefox and would like to keep it as my browser but am not sure what to do. any tips would be appreciated.

Answer:Can't download using Firefox

Do you have any add-ons on Firefox?

What happens if you right click and select "Save link as"?

Mozilla Firefox is a fast, full-featured Web browser. Firefox includes pop-up blocking, tab-browsing, integrated Google search, simplified privacy controls, a streamlined browser window that shows you more of the page than any other browser and a number of additional features that work with you to help you get the most out of your time online.

The Web is all about innovation, and Firefox sets the pace with dozens of new features to deliver a faster, more secure and customizable Web browsing experience for all.

User Experience. The enhancements to Firefox provide the best possible browsing experience on the Web. The new Firefox smart location bar, affectionately known as the "Awesome Bar," learns as people use it, adapting to user preferences and offering better fitting matches over time.

Performance. Firefox is built on top of the powerful new Gecko platform, resulting in a safer, easier to use and more personal product.

Security. Firefox raises the bar for security. The new malware and phishing protection helps protect from viruses, worms, trojans and spyware to keep people safe on the Web.

Customization. Everyone uses the Web differently, and Firefox lets users customize their browser with more than 5,000 add-ons.

Hi folks, i am considering downloading Firefox. Can it run in unison with Internt Explorer? or do i have to uninstall IE?Are there any issues with Firefox that i should be aware of?Thanks in advance,

Answer:If i download Firefox

It will run fine alongside IE.During the installation it will ask you if you want to make it the default browser. I would say 'No' - you can always do this later on.

Firefox 3.6 Download [Firefox]

Firefox 3.6 has just been released which might come as a surprise to some users who just read the news a few days ago that Firefox 3.6 RC2 had been released. It is very likely that this second release candidate and the final release are identical due to the short time span between the two releases.
The new Firefox 3.6 release is currently distributed to mirror servers worldwide to ensure that it can be distributed to Firefox users without performance problems as soon as the release has been officially announced on the Mozilla website and through the web browsers?s update checker.

Answer:Firefox 3.6 Download [Firefox]

Just publicly released it. In fact, I caught it when they first uploaded still said Firefox 3.5 above the download link while the version underneath said 3.6...smooooth.

EDIT: After toying with it for a few minutes, I'll tell you the two things that stick out so far:

It does the Aero preview thing like IE does: shows each tab in separate previews. Bye bye loads of tabs...hate this feature already and I can't see a way of turning it off yet.

One thing I do like is the inclusion of "personas". Not a huge deal or anything, but you can preview what they look like by just mousing over them, and they're really simple to install. No restart required, and you know what they look like on your personal browser right away. Really nifty idea in my opinion.

Mozilla has released its latest wave of security and stability updates for the still-supported release of Firefox. March 2010 is the only month in which the company made available refreshes for no less than three flavors of its open source browser. Firefox 3.6 received its first update earlier this month, jumping past 3.6.1 straight to 3.6.2. Now it?s the turn of 3.0.19 and 3.5.9 to be delivered. Mozilla announced previously that it was aiming for a release on March 30, and it looks like the browser maker is right on the money.

The Mozilla Firefox team has released Firefox just two days ago but a bug discovered after the release prompted them to take immediate action. The bug is affecting an important HTML element interface which makes some extensions and websites unusable with that version of Firefox.
The new Firefox version got rid of that bug and is currently distributed to all primary and secondary mirror sites. Users affected by this bug might want to download the version as early as possible which is why I take the liberty to post a working download mirror of the new Firefox version.
The Oregon primary mirror site contains the new release, at least the Firefox Win32 US release, which can be downloaded and installed without problems. Other mirrors will follow soon after and I expect to see the announcement on the official Mozilla website later today.

Firefox changes Download Folder.
Firefox keeps changing my Download folder from C:\Downloads to the Desktop.

How can if it Firefox so i won't do this any longer?

I am running Windows 7 64 Ultimate and Firefox 34.0.5 the latest version.

Answer:Firefox changes Download Folder.

You have complete control over where FireFox downloads files. Goto Tools->Options->General and you can specify the exact location of where FireFox will download to. I personally use the the "Always ask me where to save files" option because I typically download different types of files to specific folders. For instance I'd download a video to a Videos folder while a picture would go to a Pictures folder.

Ok, here is a strange one. I installed Firefox to my systems at home around version 25 and have been updating them ever since. It was my understanding that Firefox added a feature that scans all downloads for malware etc.Installed Firefox clean to a clean build today and when downloading files like dopdf7 to add to this clean build for pdf creation etc, I noticed that Firefox was not scanning the downloads.I never installed any special addon for this download scanner ( browser antivirus feature ) on home systems. So did Firefox once make this a default feature around version 25 and then removed it from being a default feature with latest Firefox version. All info on google doesnt clear this question up, although I do see that there are addons that can be added to add an antivirus to the browser. When i get home from work I am going to check out my home systems to try to figure out what feature is turned on or addon added that I never added on my own to see if I can add that feature enabled to this clean build I worked on today.  I like how my home systems scan all downloads with firefox before being able to launch executables etc.

Answer:Firefox - Download scanner

Firefox has never had a built-in scanner. On Windows it will use any installed and properly registered AV software to perform the scan. If no AV is installed then it will not scan.Mozilla KB article.Essentially Firefox uses an interface to call the AV program to perform the scan.

I've used Firefox for a year or two now, and its been brilliant, however recently it started to interfere with the operation of other programmes & I uninstalled it (version 3). I'm unable to install a fresh version 3, and just keep getting a message saying I need to uninstall (version 2)which I've found, but it won't let me. I've tried absolute uninstaller/ccleaner to no avail. Has anyone any suggestions?

Answer:Firefox Uninstall/Download

Try uninstall using click here when the program asks you if you want to re-start your PC, Don't re-start at this point. Let Revo continue, when you get the opeion to Choose All and to Delete, Do So. After clicking on Finish, re-start your PC.
