How to Digitally sign driver for Win7 Instal

Question: How to Digitally sign driver for Win7 Instal

I'm having problems trying to install win7 64 bit.I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to being a problem with NOT having a digitally signed jmicron raid driver.I'm googling etc but most tuts seem to be about signing drivers that are already installed on a working install.I need to sign a driver so that I can point the installation of win7 to use that driver. Is it possible to do this?If so how?Asus P5Q ProIntel [email protected] 800mhz pc6400ATI 4870 1GBX-Fi xtremegamerRAID0

Preferred Solution: How to Digitally sign driver for Win7 Instal

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How to Digitally sign driver for Win7 Instal

You cannot do this. Digital signing must be done by the creator of the driver. If an individual user could do this the entire exercise would be pointless.

Hi all,
I am wondering how do I digitally sign my driver so that it can be installed on a Win7 Ultimate SP1 in a VMWare virtual machine. I have used Visual Studio 2013 to sign my driver and cat files using a certificate I obtained from GlobalSign. Both of these
files passed the signtool check, but when trying to install in this virtual machine it generates an error code 52.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi and welcome

Well paranoid doesnt mean you are wrong, but unless you work for the NSA and have money to throw at something you have to consider that even if signed its still sent in the clear. Passwords, credit card numbers, etc. digitally singed means they know it comes from you. If I were concerned (and am) I use pgp to encrypt. that way it is both not in the clear and if the person the other end has your public key knows it came from you

Hope this helps

Hi all-

I have run into a situation here. An employee wants to digitally sign a .pdf which had been previously password protected by another person. Even if you know the password, is this possible?

Foxit Phantom pdf reader is being used.

After all of my testing I have not been able to password protect a pdf then digitally sign. I am beginning to think this is not possible. I also cannot find the answer online.

Anyone know?

Answer:Digitally sign a password protected .pdf?

I saw your post and I opened a PDF in Adobe Acrobat on my work computer. There is an option called "changes allowed" where you can pick "filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields". But if the PDF is already password protected and that field isn't checked then there isn't anything that you can do.

Hi,

We are in the process of developing a Cryptographic Service Provider (CSP) and a Key Storage Provider (KSP) which are implemented as Dynamic-link libraries (.dll). The final product needs to be digitally signed in order for Windows to accept and use our implementations.

I read on MSDN that developers used to send an email to [email protected] and request that Microsoft do the signing. I sent an email to them, requesting more information about the process, but haven't received any feedback in about three months.

I figured an alternative would be to buy a "Code Signing certificate for Microsoft Authenticode" from a trusted CA, such as Symantec, and use that to sign the appropriate files ourselves. Would this be possible? I am just not sure whether it is permitted that security products, such as CSPs and KSPs, can be signed by the developers themselves and whether Microsoft wants to look at the implementations first.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Answer:How to digitally sign a Cryptographic Service Provider (CSP)

A search seems to indicate that email address is still correct. There is also indications you must download a Cryptographic Provider Development Kit

Hopefully someone with hands on experience will also respond.

Hello,
Is the MigWiz Utility on Win7 Install Disc good to use for backing up onto the new O.S. (with probably lots more than I want to put back on...I'm just thinking of clutter that I don't need)

Having to install a fresh O.S. when it's just new and less crap on it, the better, Do you know if this utility will also transfer needless registry, cab, dll files, etc.?

OR the best way is the traditional way of backing stuff up like Documents, Photos, Music files ,etc, to the external HDD prior to installing Win7, by just Plopping in the OEM Win7 64 PRO and have them reformat the HDD partitions and install a clean version that way?

Any other suggestions I will need to install win7 onto my computer that now has XP Home on it? Thank you, Thank you very much!

Answer:instal win7 - MigWiz Utility on Win7 Install Disc good to use or.....

Migwiz is fine, and will not transfer the useless stuff. However, it will do stuff like migrate your DRM store, which is nice

I don't quite know which forum to post in so I'll start here.

Has anyone ever have trouble signing a VBA project on Access 2000?
(I'm using Office 2000 premium.)

I've done the following:
1) installed digital signature in Office Tools
2) generated my certificate using Selfcert
3) oened my Access DB and went into the VB editor
4) opened the Tools> menu

Result: No "Digital Signature" selection was available. in the Tools menu

Looked in VB editors in Excel and Word…
"Digital Signature" *was* right there in the "Tools" menu.
Just not in Access.

In Access, went to:
View >Toolbars>Customize…>Commands>Tools
and whaddaya know… There's "Digital Signature" right there!

BUT guess what? I can't drag in onto any tool bar or open menu.

Does anyone know what's going on or has this happened to them?
I looked in Office/Access Q&A forum on the MSDN website and actually found similar posts but the only suggestions were to try the things I've already listed above.

I searched the MS knowledge base but found no pertinent answers. The Office on-line help gives little/no help for digital signatures.

Ideas? Answers?

Am trying to install HP Deskjet 630c printer and it keeps telling me this driver is not digitally signed. I just put Windows xp on the computer. What does this mean and can I get help? I am not very computer literate and any help would greatly appreciated. Many thanks Paula.

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP.  This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver.  If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

Good evening,

I just reinstalled XP on a friends machine that was pooched. It is a Dell DIM4400. Everything is working except for the sound card. It is a built in sound card. When the computer boots up the new hardware wizard comes up asking for a driver for a realtek AC97 Audio device. I have tried everything I can to install the driver but each time I try I get an error that the driver is not digitally signed and it won't install. If I try in safe mode it installs but I get a blue screen upon startup and have to reboot. I do not have the orignial Dell cd but I have tried every driver from the Dell site that should work on this model of computer. I have updated the chip set drivers on the motherboard etc. I just can't get this sound card to work. Any advice??

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

I've downloaded and tried the latest (DigitalTV 3.4 Build 19-02_20090212) and windows comes up with "Driver not found". I've tried to install in compatability mode but still no good.

When installing the above, it identifies my card as “PCI CX-87A with MCU DVB-S/-C/-T/ATSC card”.

Out of all the available drivers on Twinhan's site, which would be the best for my card?

Thanks

The one written for Vista would be my choice, probably not one for W7 yet, may never be.

Looks like MS ha removed a way to disable unsigned drivers protection in Vista64, so probably is the same for 7

Looks like unsigned drivers are a no go for x64 Vista and Windows 7, well there are some workarounds in the article above, sounds like a hassle.
Not sure if this software will work with W7

Hey,

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

is it necessary to sign driver in win xp 32 sp2.

when i google i got that it is necessary for win vista , win7 and other upper version.

Answer:windows require a digitally signed driver xp 32 sp2

A signed driver is not necessary in Windows. It is an extra security layer, as drivers can become corrupt by malware. If you obtained the driver from a trusted source (like the device manufacturer's website), you can go ahead and tell Windows to install it.

Hi

The last few times I started my computer, the system comes with the warning:

"Windows requires a digitally signed driver
Driver: Broadcom NetDetect Driver
Service: BASFND
Publisher: Broadcom Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files\Bra...\BASFND.sys"

Windows suggests to uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the publishers support site to get a digitally signed driver.

The problem is that I have no idea of which program or hardware is using this driver. All the drivers I have installed in my computer are from the computer manufacturer.
I have also been at Broadcoms homepage and there is plenty of things to download there. But I dont want to ruin anything.

Suggestions on what to do?

System: Windows Vista 64

Answer:Windows requires a digitally signed driver

Broadcom is your onboard ethernet, I don't see why it would suddenly complain unless there was an update.:confused You can disable driver signing but it only cures the symptom and not the cause.

I recently purchased a new pc that came with win vista 64 bit premium home installed. I am now reloading all my old programs and I keep getting ?windows requires a digitally signed driver" error message. I also can't seem to play my old movie files, all of which played fine when I had Win XP. Apparently Vista does not want me to make my own decisions, so I am wondering how I might go about disabling all this extra secure vista crap. Can I go into Control panel and disable the BitLocker Drive Encryption? Or do I need uninstall 64bit and install the Vista 32 bit? Would that be a smooth transition? Would all my stuff work again if I had the less securitized 32bit Vista? Thanks for any help you may provide.
Regards,
William

Answer:windows requires digitally signed driver

Welcome to the Vista forums

1) You don't want to disable UAC (User Account Control) as it does a lot to protect your computer from various malware. If you really feel the urge to turn it off, then you can in control panel in the User Account section. Once turned off, you'll get the red shield in the bottom right saying it's disabled. Disable security warnings by opening security centre and going to "change how security centre warns me" or something and choose the "no warnings" option.

2) Just download the Vista codec pack (just Google it and you should find it) and DivX and you should have no problems watching videos.

3) You can install unsigned drivers on Vista 64 bit, do this by running an elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt in Start menu and click "run as administrator".

Type this and press enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

When you reboot, you should be able to install unsigned drivers.
Also, I looked on the HP website for your computer, and it has 6GB RAM, so going to Vista 32bit would only allow you to use about 3.5GB RAM. I also saw it only has an Nvidia 6150e onboard graphic card. Are you using this? As if you upgraded this to a graphic card, you'd notice better performance on Vista as well.

Hello,
I'm at my wits end. Anyone who can help would be my hero.

Acer 5253 laptop, Win7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.

Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.

Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything.

Logitech does not furnish drivers for Win7. They rely on the native drivers.

Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse.

Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.

chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.

sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.

System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.

I don't know much about digital signing of drivers. I've seen in a couple of threads that I might be able to sign the drivers myself, ... Read more

Obviously many more problems than just the mouse driver.

You can use earlier drivers (ie from vista, or even XP) if you install them in compatibility mode

I have x220 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Device manager shows under Storage Controllers "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller," but there is a yellow triangle with "!" and a Device Status Code 52 message "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." I checked in C:\Drivers\WIN\Multicard and found two *.cat files--which, I understand, are required to confirm digital signature. Each of them (ridisk.cat and risdxc.cat) has a signed and valid certificate! So what is going on? Will the card reader work? Is there something wrong with how Windows 7 is treating the Ricoh driver, which I downloaded from the Lenovo site? Why should I be getting this grief?

Answer:Ricoh card reader driver-not digitally signed?

Hello,

Perhaps the driver is damaged?

Try deleting the Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller from the Device Manager and then restarting the computer in order to let the Device Manager re-detect it and re-install the device drivers.  Does that solve the problem?

Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

Answer:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

This is more of a bug report rather than a question.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate but cannon install AVG 9 or Spybot. When i launch either installer I get a message saying "Error sending request. The server or name could not be resolved". Then the installer will quit.

I have made sure I'm using the latest version of the installer for both programmes and my connection to the internet is fine. I have also checked Windows Firewall and there is nothing there that is immediately obvious that says the firewall is blocking either of these programmes, however, i cannot change the setting either as the button is greyed out.

This is now of increased concern as I think my browser may have some kind of virus/spyware issue as I cannon access some websites. When clicking on the link that should take me to the site the page goes blank and in the bottom left-hand corner of the browser I get "Waiting for www.google-analytics.com".

This driver (or part of it) is not digitally signed, hence during silent install in SCCM TS Windows 7 x64 it will "hang" waiting to accept the unsigned driver (NOT during Apply drivers, but Sequence that runs setup.exe - I install ALL graphics drivers this way!)

the installation of windows 7 is begin since at least 2 hour and is now just at the network instalation (since 30 minutes and not finished). I assume that this laptop has a problem.

Can anyone tell me if the same problem occured to him?

Answer:Very slow first instal of Win7 on Satellite L875-126

When you start notebook for the first time recovery image must be installed. This can take up to 2,5 hours so, in my opinion there is no problem at all.
Just be patient and wait until OS installation ends properly. Do not interrupt it.

Please create recovery disc as soon as possible and do not make some experiments before you have created this disc.

OK, got a new HDD (WD Black..)

Anyway, went to install Win7 Home on it. Partitioned the drive (gave myself a 100 gig partition for OS) but didn't format the partition.

Hit Install... It ended up hangin for almost an hour at 1% and then 3% unpacking files... So I restarted thinking i had to format the partition first (seemed odd it took that long).

Now the drive won't boot on it's own (bootmgr doesn't exist error) and if I start up with my old HDD OR the Win7 disc it can't find the new HDD at all

Is there some way I can make it recognize that HDD?

I hate Windows now, it's official.

Answer:Failed instal of Win7 left HDD undetectable

Is the HDD detected in BIOS setup? If not try reinstalling it, change cables, test the HDD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.

If detected try wiping the HD with Diskpart Clean Command from installer Command Line accessed by pressing Shift + F10 at first screen when booted, or System Recovery Options.

Close Command Box, click Install Now, use the Drive Options to create and format one install partition. Ignore the small boot partition created. Click Next.

If install doesn't proceed, try prepartitioning the drive after wiping it again using Step 2.2 from SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation.

If all fails test the HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan. It may be a bad drive.

So the error exisits that...
First I Downloaded a IP Change programm... later my PC just restarted and from then on it's just shuting down his self after Win7 Startup with a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Bsod
So I tried so much thinks to fix it and were breaking my brain but at last didn't anything work.

So now at the Progres of Intallation of Win7 the BSOD stop's the install and force the PC to a Reboot.
Now Windows is preparing to do the first Run but it dosn't work... because an Error appears and told me that in consequece of the reboot of the PC ... the first run will continued after a Restart. Hi allI need help: my new netbook's 160Gb HD running under W7 Starter Edition cannot be partitioned : the HD was already divided into 4 partitions at the origin and Paragon Partition Manager refuses to proceed to further partition. The HD appears as "Local Drive (C:)" and "Local Drive (D:)" in Windows. Files and programs are all on Drive (C:). Drive (D:) hosts a unique file named "VC_RED" , containing about 50 documents with the extensions .RTM or .dll.The point is I want to install Linux on the second Drive (D:).Can these VC_RED files be transfered on drive (C:) without altering Windows, so I can use drive (D:) to install Linux ?Thank you for help !Raoul

Answer:Can't partition Win7 Netbook for Linux instal

Maybe. Might look at registry for any entry that says vc_red. If any then you would have to edit to the new location. Some files can never be moved. They are set by some odd programs to thwart copying. Could head over to pendrivelinux.com for some tips to make flash drive installs. They would work almost as well as your hard drive installs. And you can carry them to other systems.Playing to the angelsLes Paul (1915-2009)

I changed my old motherboard and cpu, had to re-instal win7 as the sytem wouldn't boot past BIOS and spent hours updating the OS. I now have a number of problems that I can't understand. I can only access the internet if I do it as admin, even though I'm the only user, windows programs lock up when I try to access them. Simple things like changing the desktop display, accessing the control panel, leads to nothing and I have to ctr+alt+del to remove them from the screen as they just sit there. Even when I do get into control panel the next selection will freeze. Windows media player will not start at all, I'm at a loss. This is the first time I've upgraded in this way, normally I just sell my pc and buy another one....which is what I'm wishing I'd done!

Satellite L50-c-215 is a laptop sold without optical drive nor OS.

We bought it today.
Issues :
-we were told it "is compatible with windows 7" but from what seller told, everything could be downloaded from Toshiba's website
-while watching Toshiba website, a link says "no operating system inside". Link is corrupted
-2"official" support companies are listed for Bulgarian Toshiba website are wrong : people says on phone they are not official Toshiba support

Technical issues :
-I tried to put several Windows 7 ISO on a USB, using both Rufus and official tool from Microsoft, but I got error that says "Driver for CD/DVD is missing".
-In some forums, it is told that testing the trick wit a USB 2.0 can solve if USB 3.0 fails. Every USB failed.

Commercial issue :
-Even if European trade law says people have a small delay to give a non-working product back and be reinbursed, when we returned the computer to Technopolis shop few hours after buying, employees told us "Problem is not hardware : we don't cancel the sale, we can't retake the computer and give your money back. Problem is software : see with Toshiba".
The best we could obtain was adress of a non-Toshiba computer service to try to ask if they could be able to install Windows 7

I have already spent half of a day working on it
What can we do to either install Windows 7 or get the computer returned and refunded?

I have successfully installed these software on Win7 32 bits, but they don't want to instal on MY Win7 64 bits. I tried the compatibility program, it offered Win XP (service pack 2) and asks me to "start the program" but clicking on "start" doesn't work, it doesn't respond and if I go to continue it tells me that the programm is incompatible. I tried Win 2000 with no better result. i ried both installing directly from the cd and copying it to the hard drive first and install from there. My dictionnaries are year 1995 -96 and younger, Larousse Fr-Eng, Larousse Fr-Spanish and Oxford Eng-Spanish. They work perfectly on Win7 32 bits and Win XP. I really don't want to buy them again from the publisher (that's what they told me to do), it's expensive. And I really like my new Folio 13, is light and fast.PLEASE helpThank youEvelyne

Answer:HELP:Can't instal 32bits softw on Win7 64 bits: Dictionaries

While 32bit programs will run fine on 64bit Windows 7, many programs that old have 16bit installers which will not work with the 64bit Windows 7.The only two choices you have is to either purchase a newer version or try installing a 32bit XP under a virtual machine and then try installing the program within that virtual XP program. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I am thinking of installing W10 on a separate drive to my W7 OS to see if I am happy with it and do not want to risk my W7 which is behaving perfectly and I would like to keep it that way!

I would like to use my copy of Office 2010 on my new W10 drive and on my W7 drive, will this cause any hassles in use or with the registration?

Answer:Win7 and W10 dual boot. Instal Office 2010 on both drives or share?

Hi,
Best way to install 10 make sure you remove the 7 hdd or ssd during install
Office well that depends on the version
I had no issues running Office 2007 small business but it's retail disk I have it on all my machines 3 total now but also had it in win-10 on the same machine using 7 and 10tp

10 never saw 7 because the ssd 7 was on was never connected at the same time.
So it does depend on what type of version you have oem one install
Technically the same machine though :/

Good day

I have ACER M1610, WINXP SP2. I have just formatted and repartitioned the HD, partly for personal reasons and partly to deal with malware.

I can't get the chipset driver to work. I had this computer from a friend who needed to sell and I downloaded the drivers from Acer and put them on CD. There has never been a problem before. This time on running the driver, it hangs after the progress bar ends. Clearing with Task Manager, I get a message from SiSBase.dll that it cannot find InstFunc.exe. This file is on the disc, in the WINXP_2K folder.

I downloaded a fresh chipset driver from the ACER website and exactly the same thing happened.

The result is that I can instal the Realtek sound driver but not my M-Audio soundcard driver. The video driver seemed to go in but images are distorted laterally.

I would be most grateful for any advice or assistance to help me with this problem

Answer:chipset driver won't instal

The first thing I would do, before trying anything else, is to install Service Pack 3.

Next, download the latest driver(s) from http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=342

Question: INSTAL DRIVER FILE

I HAVE DOWN LOADED BIOS DRIVER FILE FOR MY MOTHER BOARD BUT HOW DO YOU LOAD IT. MOTHER BOARD SUPPLIER: ASUS

Answer:INSTAL DRIVER FILE

1. Please don't shout. 2. Carefully. 3. Is it an .exe file or what - I think we need a bit more detail as to whether it's a BIOS update or what. What's the file name, what's it supposed to do (if it's not a flash update) and why do you want to do it. Flashing BIOS's is not something you do lightly.

how to un instal nvdia driver

i think its making my pc to re boot always

Answer:un instal nvidia driver

Which OS?

If a version of XP or above you could try ( if you had a previous ok working nVidia driver ) driver rollback, goto Device Manager > choose Display Adapter > Driver and click Roll Back.

or if you wish to remove goto Add/Remove, but on reboot it will generally re-install the default MS GFX driver which may not support colour/screen resolutions of a genuine nVidia driver so you will have to install a previous version, that the one thats possibly causing a problem.

What also makes you think its a GFX driver thats causeing the re-boot?

Please get the correct package for them. A link is provided below. But when I look the drivers for the 18xx models I don't fine any.  Anyway I've downloaded this driver, but when I try to install it, the installer tellsme that I need to install Net Framework 2.0, but my thinkpad already has it (indeed it has Net Framework 1.1, 2.0 Service Pack 2, 3.0 Service Pack 2 and 3.5 SP1). After try to install the Net Framework 2 it ask me to restart, but when I start again the installer, it ask me again to install the framework. Checking the contents of the driver installation folder (C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY) I notice a folder NET32 which has the Net Framework installer (dotnetfx.exe). I try to install it manually and I get the error "Setup cannot continue because this version of the .NET Framework is incompatible with a previously installed one." and that's because my framework version is SP2, but the installer fails to detect it and stops all the installation process. I want yor help to get a link to download the correct driver and/or get this driver installed. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to un-install the driver and control panel using the cat-uninstaller tool from click here .The new 4.1 drivers have just come out today, try using them. After you have downloaded the new drivers, un-install the old ones using the un-installer tool, reboot, when asked to find drivers cancel the installation and then manually install them from your downloaded drivers. You could also try using the smartgart-uninstaller as well, as this can cause problems with some systems.

I have an Epson XP-410 all-in-one printer/scanner. It is connected to my pc running win xp by usb cable.
problem is the scanner driver will not complete its installation.

software has been uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times always with failure to fully install scanner driver.

Would appreciate any ideas. Epson support gave up and referred me to Microsoft. Did not bother going thar route.

Answer:epson 410 scanner driver instal problem on win xp

Hi

What service pack is your Windows XP at? are you fully up to date with all critical XP updates?

Uninstall all Epson drivers and/or software, then enter Device Manager and look down the list for Universal Serial Bus Controllers and check if you have any that mention Printer or Epson, if you do right click and choose Uninstall.

Then in the same Device Manager, check Imaging Devices and if this is listed as Epson then right click uninstall, next look in Printers and if your Epson is listed the again right click > uninstall.

Next in Device Manager click the View menu option (at very top menu bar) and choose "show hidden devices", then look through Device Manager and the catagories for anything Epson related, and uninstall.

Then unplug the USB cable from the printer and disable your Anti-virus/Anti-malware software from starting at boot (what anti-virus or malware software do you have installed), as on occasion these software's may halt an install.

Then reboot and double check your security software/s are not running and plug in your USB printer cable and install the latest driver from Epson HERE (if you have an old version off CD/DVD or download, delete it and get the latest version), then once installed, reboot and test printer, if all ok then enable your security software/s and test printer again.

If you get any error messages when installing please do tell us what they are in full.

Hello everyone,

Have had a BAD problm with what seems to be several unknown trojans downloading into my computer through DIFx drivers installer.

The windows xp DIFx might have been taken over- it shows up with it's own program folder a short while after reformatting, then whatever it's downloaded trys to turn any program with any internet link into a server. And it seems pretty successful. AAAARRRGGHHH!!!!

Anyway... IF there is a security update for it, has anyone tryed it and does it actually work? I do not frequent crack sites, but on a search I found a couple sites talking about DIFx expoits. So I know I'm not the only one... So far denying it any internet connections is working, but who knows. It completely took over AVAST... I can't delete it- it just reappears.

Answer:MS DIFx driver instal- are updates secure?

Hi i think you should make another post in the Am I Infected forum. Let's see if the malware is gonefirst ,then you can fix that MS DIFx. Also mention your Operating System and security tools installed.

Answer:can't sign in on two different profiles win7

hello seraphx037 and welcome to TSF,

It sounds like your profiles have become corrupted somehow.

Also, the Windows 7 Administrator profile should be locked... Did you enable it for some reason?

Do you have UAC enabled?

I would like you to use your Wife's account (if she is Administrator group) or the Administrator profile to create a new (admin) profile for yourself.

Log into the new profile and see if it is working correctly.

If it is, open an elevated command prompt.Click the Windows button.
Type CMD in the search box.
Right click and select Run as Administrator.

Once the command prompt is open, copy and paste the following command.

Code:
net user administrator /active:no
This should disable the built-in administrator account.

My brother has a High Point RocketRaid 2300 SCSI Controller (4x SATA ports), installed, so he can add more storage space (more HDD's). I was hoping Win7 would recognize it and automatically install device drivers but it hasn't. When I went to the manufacturer's web page, and downloaded the drivers, there is no .exe file to install, so I am not sure how to install the drivers and get his device working. It is recognized in the Control Pnl-Comp Mngmnt-Device Mngr-other devices, but says it needs a driver to operate, here is the link to the site, any and all help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

HighPoint-Support-Bios + Driver

Answer:high point Rocketraid 2300 driver instal?

When you download, unzip the file. Open control panel, and go to Device Manager, and locate the RAID card in the devices. Right click on the RAID card, open Properties, and choose the Drivers tab. Left click on update driver, and then choose to browse for the driver on your system. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the file and choose the x86 or x64 folder, depending on your version of 7. Choosing the folder should be enough, but if not, select the *.inf file if Windows doesn't detect it automatically. The rest should be pretty self explanatory.

You may have to update the card's BIOS as well. My recent RAID card install had to be flashed with new BIOS before Win 7 would detect it. There are BIOS flashing instructions on the website.

Hey guys, I'm trying to help my brother with a problem he has been having on his computer. He is trying to install some Home Audio Recording Software/hardware. MOTU to be exact.

Basically We are getting the Windows Installer Error 1721 Error when trying to uninstall the failed first install, or when trying to re-install, or repair.. all the above.

I've googled this and got many answers and tried them all. With no luck. I was told to enter cmos, then unregister and reregister it (the Windows Installer Program things).. and that did not work..

While searching I found people with the same problem. But they were unable to install or uninstall things. I'm able to install, or uninstall anything I want.. Except the program we want to install. Why would only that have the problem.

If anyone's had the Windows Error 1721 problem. I could sure use the help/idea's/thoughts.

Thanks!

The solution was supplied by Motu support:

To get rid of the 1721 error message, go to your Control Panel > User Accounts > and disable your User Account Control. This will require you to restart your computer. Then after that, go to Programs and Features and uninstall all the MOTU drivers and then reinstall the drivers from the instructions I listed above. Let me know how this goes.

It worked like a charm in my case.

I use the MS Wireless Keyboard 1000 and MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 with my HP HDX 16t (dual core) notebook running Windows 7 x64.

I installed both Intellipoint 7.0 and Intellitype 7.0. About 50% of the time when I boot, the mouse driver fails ("This device cannot start"). I have to manually uninstall the driver and then search for new devices. It re-installs the driver and then the mouse works fine.

Windows update had 3 recent files--update to Intellitype and to Intellipoint I think. Also a MS Mouse and Keyboard Detection Driver (USB), Driver ID = 20305405. It fails to install after many attempts. I've tried turning off all start-up programs without success. Error code 80070103. I think if this could get installed it would end my mouse driver problem. Any help?

Answer:MS Mouse & Keyboard Detection Driver (USB) fails instal

Try uninstalling Intellipoint and Intellitype. Reboot, and let Windows find the drivers automatically. You shouldn't even need those installed.

I saw similar issues, but the solutions are either outdated or not relevant to my case as stated below:
I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 on my Dell Inspiron 14z - N411Z. Despite trying different ISO which were written to an 8GB flash drive, the Windows installation comes up with this error message:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, remove it for this step."
Some solutions offered online suggested that one should do one thing or the other on the PC's Windows, but this is not workable because there is no OS on that particular laptop.
Some other solutions offered online suggested that one should choose certain option(s) in the BIOS, but the suggested BIOS option(s) are not in this Dell's BIOS.
Surprisingly, I once had a bootable Win 7 on a USB flash drive which never had this issue (and even came in with a Dell image when one checks the laptop's information from right-click COMPUTER > PROPERTIES at System), but I lost that flash's content.
(1). I would appreciate viable, working solutions.
(2). If possible, please indicate where to get the required driver(s) and where exactly to place such in the Windows Installation folders such that one would not even need to manually browse to it, during installations.
(3). I assume that some of the solutions might be using some 3rd party utilities or drivers. ... Read more

As I seen, it's a 5 year old laptop, so Win 7 installation should have all the drives needed, except if your USB port is a USB 3.0
On the right side the two USB is 3.0. On the left side the one USB is 2.0.
Try the USB port on the left side or try a DVD.

Hello, I have a 'problem' with the PS/2 ports.I use the (bundled) USB Keyboard and USB mouse therefore nothing is connected on the PS/2 ports.Unfortunately the PS/2 ports cannot be disabled and this also keeps Windows detecting and installing a "Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad driver".This driver also installs a service "SynTPEnh Caller Service" "C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnhService.exe" and many files so I'm looking in a way to disable the PS/2 ports. Mostly due to the installation of this unneeded driver/service package. Unfortunately the UEFI Setup doesn't allow me to disable the PS/2 ports. HP: please add the option to disable the PS/2 ports. (Show hidden devices) Hardware IDsACPI\VEN_SYN&DEV_3006ACPI\SYN3006*SYN3006 Regards,Arian van der Pijl!

I've bought a new 2.0 ghz laptop with vista blah blah but i want to change to XP.

I've
bought a new copy of XP and am ready to go then first issue was during
installation the screen says can't find harddrive installed.

I
then found some thread somewhere which i've lost that said to buy an
external floppy drive and downloaded that floppy driver thingy that i
need to get past that stage from the toshiba website..

FYI driver name: SA200 ACHI F6-1017-XP

That
worked fine.. when it said press F8 if you agree to install XP i nearly
wet myself.. anyhow after it formatted the drive it then asked me this:
Insert the disk labeled:

*Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver*

into drive A:

* Press ENTER when ready

WTF are you talking about laptop? can someone please help me past this stage?

:-( :-( i only want XP installed.

So far its been like 3 weeks since i've been trying to install it

Message was edited by: IamMILOS

Answer:Need help with XP instal. stuck at: Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver

You need simply to install an Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver.
As the name said it?s an Intel driver and can be found on the Intel page or you can download it from the Toshiba European driver page too.
Check your notebooks driver area and search for Storage manager or robson package.

I recommend also to search in this forum for similar threads about Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver.

I just built my PC few days ago and Everything was fine until I installed VGA graphics driver update. I literally tried everything. I tried downloading from biostar, intel, and from the disc I received along with the motherboard. They all are no use. I can go into safemode and roll back the driver and the video graphics is fine. I can't find anything related to graphics chipset or anything like that and can't find sleep mode on BIO as this motherboard has UEFI. How do I fix this so that my PC functions like it is suppose to with the intel hd graphics 2000?

I am getting BSOD at random times, although I think I get them more when I'm watching videos on VLC (a lot of times VLC will just crash, other times it will BSOD). I also get BSOD while doing other things, as well as crashes on other apps like Firefox as well. I also recently replaced my HDD to a SSD because the HDD started giving SMART warning, however I'm still getting BSOD/app crashes.

I looked online at the BSOD error messages, and decided to try the Driver Verifier tool. When I run with only non-Microsoft drivers, nothing happen (still got one crash, but I think it was just a normal random crash). However, when I ran verifier with only Microsoft drivers, I can't boot. I will BSOD right after my Asus logo, and the error will say DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION.

Some of the BSOD crash errors I've gotten:
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION --> ntoskrnl.exe
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL --> ntoskrnl.exe
BAD_POOL_HEADER --> ntoskrnl.exe

I got driver_irql_not_less_or_equal three times in the past few days, and bad_pool_header twice.

I also have an entry on BlueScreenView that is blank under "Bug Check String", but points to driver ndis.sys.

Things I have tried:
sfc /scannow
Memtest86 (6 passes)
Replaced HDD (to SDD)
LinX (Around 70 minutes)
Heaven Benchmark (Around 40 minutes)
Swap RAM slots (this is a laptop, and I only have 1 RAM piece)
Reinstall Windows 10

Could it be:

Motherboard problem

Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.
I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

although there are tons of threads about this, i cant find any with my specific problem. i have macrium reflect free. i wanted to CLONE my C drive to D, then switch the bios to boot from D, but the program says cannot clone when windows is running, restart from bootable or run from boot option, (in other words, f8 on startup). not those exact words but thats what it basically says. i donot have a bootable disk and there is no macrium option in the f8 boot options. so i decided to do an image. my question is will it still work? can i just simply extract the C drive image onto D, then switch the boot sequence in bios to D and im done? experiance tells me that its not that simple. cdrive is only 250 g, 90% full, D drive is 1.5 tb, about 12% full. trying to avoid a full win reinstall and days of updating and software reinstallations.

I purchased a 3000-N200 with Win Vista Basic. Its is not illegigble for a factory downgrade, but apparently it is possible. At the beginning of XP set-up, after pressing F6, everything seems fine, the floppy is read I can select the proper driver and setup continues...  Bu when setup is ready to copy files to the harddrive, setup stops and asks for the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" floppy in drive A:/.    The thing is that the disc is still in the floppy. It is like the USB floppy is not connected.  What is wrong? I have made the floppy several different times. I have unplug and re-inserted the USB drive.  I can disable the ACHI, and run XP setup fine, but the ACPI driver (or something like that) is installed.  Later when loading software the WinDVD program from Lenovo website does not recognize the manufacturer and stops. Please help...

Answer:WinXP does not read from USB floppy during setup (F6). Can't instal ACHI storage controller driver.

Gotta ask, all that for Win DVD? One thing to try is enter BIOS, and under Advanced tab, make sure Legacy Usb is enabled.

I've seen problems similar to this, but not exactly like this. Keyboard is recognized and works in BIOS. All other drives are disconnected except the DVD and the Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD. I reset fail-safe defaults in the G1.Assassin, enabled AHCI, set CD as first boot device, HDD as second. Insert Windows 7 Pro x64 DVD in a late-model DVD burner & reboot the i7-960. All proceeds normally, basic HP mechanical keyboard is nothing special, and "Num Lok" lights. After verifying DMI, it asks:

"Boot from CD/DVD?"

at which point the "Num Lok" light goes out ("Caps" light won't light either) , pressing "Y" has no effect. In fact, no other keystrokes seem to have any effect at all EXCEPT if I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, it reboots, just as it should.
After troubleshooting, swapping usb ports and the like, with no results, I though it might be the boot media, so I swapped in the x86 disk, and after several failed attempts, as I was pressing some keys, and I think the Control key was one of them, the installation suddenly skipped down to a new line, and instead of asking me to press Y or N, it says "Press any key to boot from CD". I pressed ctrl, and the files started to copy. Too bad it was the x86 disk, or I'd be done. I swapped back in the x64 dvd, and have never been able to get the "Press any key to boot from CD" i need so bad. Tried the x86 disk again, but couldn't reproduce the earlier success.

I have a program that has a driver for Windows 7 x64. For various reasons this driver is unsigned. I know the manufacturer and it's safe. I know that I can put computers into test mode to load the unsigned driver but I'm concerned that mode allows any other unsigned driver to load.

Is there a way to allow only one specific unsigned driver to load in 64-bit windows? For example can I sign the driver myself, add that certificate to the master certificate store, and then use that driver without having to enable test mode? Or does it not work like that?

Any ideas or explanations welcome, Thanks!

Answer:Using an unsigned driver in Win 7 x64. Can I sign the driver myself?

The last time I had an "unsigned driver" message, I had an "Install anyway" button. Do you ever get one of those?
