Dell 926 printer install disk for Windows 7

Question: Dell 926 printer install disk for Windows 7

Does anyone have an install disk that I could buy off them or atleast pay to have it sent and send it back to them. I recently wiped out my laptop which uninstall the 926 printer and I can not find my install disk. Dell people want $89 to help me install it which is very stupid. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Sounds like a faulty hard drive is the cause - F12 at powerup.  Boot to the Dell diagnostics and run an extended test (not just the quick test) on the hard drive -- you'll likely find it fails, in which case - replace the drive and reload.

How do you install a printer on Windows XP Professional without an Install CD? My computer (Dell Laptop) has a printer connected to it through a USB plug, but I'm having trouble getting the operating system to fully-accept & recognize the printer without a XP Install CD, which supposedly has a missing .DLL file, which is required for my printer to function.

When I try adding this printer (HP LaserJet 6L) to my copy of XP Professional SP3. It still doesn't work because it's missing this .dll file: PCL3ERES.DLL. (I have that file saved on my desktop, rather than on CD). Each time I try to add that printer, I get a message/window which requests me to insert the XP Pro Install CD, which I do not have with me because this computer came with no Install CD(s).

Thanks for your kindness & help, in advance. Please assist me, in regards to this problem.

(If you would: please review the screenshots (below) & keep in mind that my printer was not completely added, even though I reached the last step in the “Add Printer Wizard”. As soon as I reached that step, I got a message requesting me to get an install CD just so I can find a missing .DLL file (PCL3ERES.DDL). Please keep in mind that my computer was bought used, and without any of it's original CDs).

According to the specifications on the manufacturer's website that computer doesn't have an optical drive. You should be able to download the printer software from the manufacturer's website (you don't say what printer it is) and install the software that way.

Hi! The installation procedure for the
Dell Photo Printer 966 on a *brand new* laptop
running Windows 7 does not complete!
I've waited for up to half an hour for it to
move to the next screen and complete
but it remains stuck "updating your system"
The same installation procedure works fine
on an older desktop running Vista. Here
are the steps that I used to troubleshoot
this problem (which did not work):

made sure I had the correct driver version for the new laptop:
Dell Photo All-in-One Printer 966

Version: G16-EN, A02 http://support.dell.com/support/dow...dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=222949

tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software drivers
results in the same problem

tried installing with elevated administrative access: same problem.

tried installing the driver directly from the folder
gives the error "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation "

tried installing the driver directly through add printer wizard,
selecting the folder which it came in. It gave an error code,
which I wish I wrote down, it was something like "0x000008A"

Answer:Dell Photo Printer 966 Windows 7 Installation Hangs "Install is updating your system"

Re: Dell Photo Printer 966 Windows 7 Installation Hangs "Install is updating your sys

Wow. You've tried just about everything I would have suggested. However, try this: make sure the printer USB cable is not connected to the PC, make sure any attempts to install the drivers have been uninstalled or otherwise removed (you might want to use both Driver Sweeper and CCleaner). Reboot the PC after everything has been cleaned out. Power on the printer and plug in the USB cable; cancel/close the Wizard if it opens. Now go to Windows Update (or Microsoft Update) and see if the driver is listed under "Hardware (Optional)" after the Update site checks your system. Even if it doesn't show up in the optional hardware updates, install any "critical" updates listed, and check the other optional updates for something that may be related to the printer or overall system stability or overall compatibility. Again, reboot after installing any updates, then try installing the drivers again as you would normally.

GOOD LUCK!!!

(When I first started using Windows 7, everything was fine except my internet connection would completely drop out at random at least 3 or 4 times an hour; much Googling got me no-where, so I figured I'd check the optional updates; sure enough, one of 'em specifically mentioned "enhances system stability and compatibility with network connectivity"; installing that update solved the problem, kind of weird it wasn'... Answer:I Can't Install an old USB HP PSC printer to my Win 10 Dell Desktop

There may be more to the product model name and number as this is what HP finds in a search for HP 750 PSC:
Support Search Results | HP® Customer Support
The file name you show may point out 2 issues, one is there is no driver available for Win10, not unusual, and the other is that driver is indeed for WinXP. There is a difference that will get in your way, your Win10 is 64-bit and WinXP was 32-bit except the Pro version was also available as 64-bit, somewhat uncommon as there wasn't much software and hardware support for 64-bit 'back then'. I have clients that had to update their printer due to no Win10 drivers, a couple were working fine on Win10 Upgraded from Win7 but wouldn't work at all on new Win10 computers due to no drivers. Fortunately it wasn't too expensive to get a new AIO/PSC printer, about $65USD at Wal*Mart.

I have an old Dell 1600n printer I love connected on my home network. It's connected to one XP machine (and shared). All our computers here use it XP laptops, Win 98 desktop and my Win 7 laptop. However, I can't get it to install to my new Win 7 desktop. I've downloaded Dells drivers and extracted them to a folder in my user area; however, neither running the setup utility that's part of the driver package (which can't find the printer on the network) or using the Add Printer function in Win 7 (which can't find an INF file) are working.

The Win 7 error is "No driver found. Windows can't find a driver for Dell Laser MFP 1600n on the network. To locate one manually, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and consult your network administrator or the printer manufacturer's website." I've tried point it to any number of the extracted files from the driver package and no luck.

Any help is much appreciated!

I just gave an old printer to a friend of mine; we're trying to get it up and running on his machine, but we don't have any of the original installation disks. He's running Win98, and the printer is a Compaq IJ200. When we try to add new hardware, it only gives us a shortlist of Compaq printers, none of which is IJ200.

We just recently purchased a new computer but am struggling to get our printer installed.  My printer works on my desktop ( I work from home so yes I have a desktop).  The printer also works with our other laptop via USB. Something happened sometime back that disrupted our Wi-Fi connection so I just never got it back up and running.   Anyway, we have this brand new laptop. I have been on the Support website and downloaded the drivers. save the files to the computer , unzipped them and executed the setup. The printer shows on my computer but it still says the drivers are missing.  It doesn't work hooking it up to the USB port etc....

I am ready to send my new computer back...so frustrated.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. It came with Windows XP, but I reformatted and installed Windows 2000 professional instead, which I am mostly happy with, but one of my favorite video games can only be played on XP, so now I want to go back to XP. I have Dell's disk called: Reinstallation CD Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. I have the BIOS set so the CDROM boots first, and when I start the computer, the CD is recognized, but then I get an error in DOS saying "Couldn't find NTLDR", and Windows 2000 proceeds to boot.

I've also explored the Dell XP disk and tried installing it that way using setup.exe, but when I go to check system compatability, I get two errors:

"The procedure entry point NtUnloadKeyEx is not in Ntdll.dll."
"Winnt32u.dll could not be loaded or is corrupt"

So I'm dead in the water. Should I try to start my computer with my windows 2000 disk, go through that interface, then somehow make the switch to the Dell XP disk? The problem is, I don't want to have to reformat my computer. (I will though, as a last resort).

Thanks for your help!

Answer:Can't install Dell's XP disk over Win 2000 on laptop

The Recovery CD is a mirror of the original hardrive when it left the factory. It was designed to bring your laptop back to it's original out of the box condition. For it to work, when it is loaded it compares a varity of things to determine that the laptop is the one it is assigned to. In other words, so you can't use it on another comuter. When you put Win2k on your laptop, the Recovery CD sees this as "another computer" and thus won't work. You probably will have to format the hardrive and wipe it clean and then the CD should work but don't count on it as Recovery CD's on some systems can be quite finicky.

I bought a new Dell i3847 and it has Windows 7 Pro 64bit factory installed on it.
I wanted to do a full system backup, but the Dell Backup and Recovery software will not allow me to do a system backup.  Further, I have been unable to create a system recovery disk using Dell Backup and Recovery.
I can't use the Dell provided system disk for recovery because it is clearly marked Windows 8.1

1) Why is a Win 8.1 disk included with a Win 7 Pro 64bit system?
2) What is wrong with Dell Backup and Recovery that it:
a) can't create a factory recovery disk
b) won't allow me to create a system back up so I can return it to the factory state

Help!

It's been 2.5 hours and it is still "initializing disk" to create a factory recovery.  It usually fails somewhere during initialization or writing.    Spending hours for each failed attempt to create a factory recovery disk is NOT GOOD!

Last time I did this, I tried to use the windows CD that I purchased for my downstairs computer which included sp2 and it did not accept the cd key for the gateway upstairs. Answer:Factory Windows Install disk vs. NewWindows Install Disk

There is a way to get it to work, but you will have to copy the files from the XP cd, edit one of the files, then burn it to another cd (and make the cd bootable).

Alternatively, you could contact Gateaway and ask them for a replacement CD and they should be obligated to send you one.

Hi

My Dell N5050 laptop died and I tried moving the Harddisk into a old HP Deskpro. The disk boots fine but Windows 7 DELL OEM reboots as the windows picture comes up. It then allows me to do a repair but that doesn't help. The repair report doesn't give any clue to the problem.

I am guessing it is some fundamental driver that is Dell specific. Any idea how to sort it ?

The repair will allow me to get to a dos prompt.

Last March I purchased a Dell M5040 Inspiron for use while stuck in a motel between home sale/purchase. Everything is fine, but now that I'm past my warranty I thought I would investigate a clean install as I've read many posts here about how bloated the factory install is. My main question is whether the green Dell re-installation dvd is what I want or is this a copy of the OS including the Dell (unwanted) extras? My other question is...to save a bit of (not really starved for) HD space, would you guys delete the recovery partition? And if you would delete it, would you bother to clone the fresh install to a second partition on same drive (as virus/malware protection-obviously not hardware failure protection)Thanks in advance, Bill

Answer:Requesting directions for a clean re-install using Dell disk

Dell is one of the few that provides a clean reinstallation DVD with only the OS and self-activation plus a Dell Logo. Just make sure it includes SP1. If not you can use the installation media for your licensed version provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which also compiles everything needed to get and keep a perfect install.

Be sure to read the Special Note for Dell Owners at the end as the Dell Diagnostics listing when booting from F12 and the fuller suite of diagnostics often available under F12's Utility partition are valuable and worth keeping if they will still boot before and after reinstall. You'd want to keep the Dell Utility partition if so, while deleting all others and creating and formatting New during the booted install.

Ask back any questions you have before beginning.

You will get and keep a perfect install of WIn7 based on how closely you stick with the steps, tools and methods in that tutorial, for as long as you do.

I have trouble installing a HP Color LaserJet 8550N printer (has JetDirect Printer Server 600N with IP address of 192.168.68.4) to my XPpro PC.
I was stuck when Add Printer Wizard ask me to “specific a Printer”. I selected “Browse for a printer” and came up with nothing (no printer). I tried selecting “Connect to this printer” but I do not know what name to type in (Example is \\server\\printer). I tried selecting “Connect to a printer on the Internet or on a home or office network” but I do not what URL to type in (Example is http://server/printer/myprinter/printer). Therefore, I cancelled the installation.
I had then installed its Printer Utility. The utility is capable of finding the printer and showing me it’s Properties. However, I still ended up with no printer listed to use in Printers and Faxes.
So, XPpro is a step backward in this case.
I could install this printer with printer server on W98/ME because their Add Printer Wizards allow me to use either the IP address or the hardware address to locate the printer server.
I hope I have described my problem well. Please help!

The subject nearly completely identifies the subject.  I have a dual drive g73s with windows 7 one the first drive.  I added a second drive on which I wish to install windows xp pro.  All I have is the reinstallation disk which I purchased with my xps 1710 laptop in 2005.  I have found another use for the xps 1710, it now has been upgraded (?) to windows 7 and is in use under my control elsewise.  When I attempt to install the xp pro on the second hard drive (in the first drive position or in the second position) all I get is a blue screen suggesting I look for a virus (the second drive is formatted and clean).  I wonder if I purchase a second unused installation disk with a new key, etc, genuine (we hope) if that would make any difference.  I am really perplexed with this problem.  I have in times past been able to install from this installation cd in a barebone desktop assembly, without any problem for the first 30 days.  Anyone have any ideas?  I really want to be able to use xp on this new computer.Wendell[email protected]email addy removed to prevent SPAM.

Answer:How may one install xp pro on asus g73s laptop using dell reinstallation disk

If you use an OEM Windows disk to install Windows on other computers WGA will prompt you to activate...Quote from: aa4wp on February 21, 2012, 11:12:01 PMWhen I attempt to install the xp pro on the second hard drive (in the first drive position or in the second position) all I get is a blue screen suggesting I look for a virus (the second drive is formatted and clean).Okay, I suspect that disk may be faulty. Download http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk which will scan for bad sectors.Another thing I want to add from my experience-if you install windows 7 on one partition and then install XP on another partition the XP installation will rewrite the Win7 bootloader and you won't be able to boot to 7 again unless you run BCDEdit under XP to fix the boot entries. Were you installing XP with ONLY the second drive inserted?

Hi.
I want to know how to approach dell to get a copy of windows 8 operating system iso so that I can reinstall the windows on my laptop.
I have following questions regarding same:
1. What is the procedure of obtaining the Windows 8 operating system iso from DELL?
2. If dell can provide the requested, what are the charges for the same?
3. Can the OEM version of the windows 8 be installed to another computer? What I meant is that how many licenses does I get with OEM version or how many times I can reinstall the operating system during the life cycle of the product(Windows 8) using the same key?
4. If the license key is embedded in the hardware then can I use any windows 8 installer iso to reinstall the OS?

Thanks
Nitin

Answer:How to get the WIndows 8 installation disk/recovery disk from dell?

Hi Nitin,
The Windows product key is pre-installed in Dell systems. However may I know the reason why you are looking out for a disc?
If the computer is not booting up and if you want to request for a disc then you may use the below link:
http://dell.to/19q87KN  (For U.S only)
If the system is working normally, you may create a system restore disc by following the below steps in Windows 8:
(1) Move to mouse pointer to the top right corner and click on the search button.
(2) Select applications, type Dell backup and recovery and select search.
(3) On the left side you may click on the application.
(4) Once the application opens select recovery disc and create rescue disc.
OEM discs (Win8) can be installed on any Dell computers (if Windows 8 is pre-installed in that computer from factory).
It is suggested to use OEM image for re-installation purpose.

I've had this problem with a few disks actually--disks with media burned on them (I think QuickTime format), but for whatever reason DVDs either work immediately or take only one or two tries before succeeding.

I am trying to install a legit student copy of MATLAB, the disk is brand new but does somehow have one or two scratches, very minor. Usually the drive tries to read the disk for maybe 30 seconds before giving up, occasionally it spins without any sign of stopping until I pop the disk out when it starts to get hot. Clicking on the drive in the 'my computer' menu just tells me I need to insert a disk into the drive.

All of my drivers should be up to date. Also, for the record, the disk is fine and will run on other computers, just like the previous disks it's been unable to read.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 1521 DVD RW drive will not read MATLAB install disk

Sounds like a bad disk drive. I had a dell Inspiron 1720 that would do the same thing. I finally gave up on it and bought an external DVD drive and it worked fine. You could try ordering a replacement DVD drive from Dell.

Hey guys.
Pretty much what the title says - Dell's new, recently-released ControlVault driver (version A19) does not successfully install on a Dell Latitude E6330.  I followed the driver installation order from the "Dell Business Client Re-Image 'How-To' Guide" and installed the Dell ControlVault driver last.  It did not work.
Attached is a screenshot of what I got, and the Windows Installer log.

Hello.
I am trying to Install Windows XP on my old PC. It didn't have a CD-ROM so I used one from my new Computer. The Problem I am getting is that whenever I connect the CD-ROM, computer doesn't boot. It Ends Up giving me error : "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter"
The Hard Disk is alright and does boot if CD-ROM is disconnected. However, After I connect the CD-ROM, Hard Disk won't Boot either, even when it is first boot device.
CD-ROM is working fine on other PC and hard disk is also quite right when CD-ROM is not connected to the PC.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.
Thanks.

If the optical drive is IDE, check the jumper settings on the back of the drive. If you have the CD drive and the hard drive on the same cable, one should be master and the other slave or set both to cable select.

Currently I am unable to boot my Windows 7 Pro OS on my Lenovo X230 Thinkpad which has been working well for sometime dual booting Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17.3.I bought the laptop 2nd hand while it still had a valid warranty although it has since expired on 29/5/16.I had a problem with an external USB 3 1TB HD being used with a Samsung smart TV for recording and pausing programs, the TV failed to recognise the HD when connected. After rebooting the laptop with the HD attached I believe the Windows 7 MBR has been corrupted preventing the OS from loading. My Linux Mint OS is still perfoming fine. The reason for my post here is that I am unable to access the Repair option when booting up from an external USB DVD-RW drive with a generic Windows 7 Pro install disk downloaded and burnt onto a DVD.I have tried 32Bit and 64Bit versions. Also a version which I believe was "OEM".The Windows 7 Pro install disk loads but when the Repair option is selected returns a message about using an incompatible OS disk.I believe that this is because the Windows OS originally installed is a Lenovo "OA" version rather than full retail. It seems hard to believe that this gives Microsoft the right to restrict my access to the disk repair facility by which I was going to restore the MBR to enable my installed OS to load again.Microsoft it appears advises users to go to the vendor to resolve the issue. On the label under the battery the OS is listed as:-Windows 7 Pro OA for LenovoX1693704It seems that w... Earlier this week I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 using Microsoft Windows update. My PC (a 2009 Dell Inspiron running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro) was quite slow to start with; it's now even slower! I think it's time to start afresh.
Having backed up all the data to an external drive, should I wipe the disk clean first or just let the Windows 10 installation routine do it's stuff? Will there be any difference in the end result? Obviously, starting afresh I want the disk to be rid of anything that is likely to slow down the PC.
All comments welcome. Thanks, tallboy.

lots of folk seem to get on all right with it but i was using I/E at the time and that was totally useless after downloading Edge,
There is also a large update for W/10 why not download that first to see if it helps with your problem.

I have done all that everyone everywhere seems to think would fix this issue.
My Dell 964 printer will not print after installing W 7 x64.
I tried compatibility mode to Vista service pack 2, tried unplugging, deleting and reinstalling drivers, it just will not take.

Everything else seemed to adapt itself from the upgrade from V x64 to W7 x64.

Hi everyone

I've built a brand new PC and decided that I would like to install windows 7 64 bit on my SSD, I got a disk+key from my university before christmas so that'd i'd be ready once i'd built it.

I built the PC yesterday and realised that I'd left my external DVD drive at my university accommodation, I'm at my parents house for christmas break so that's a few weeks left. I can't really wait that long so I used my parents laptop (which I'm posting from now) to turn the disk into an .iso and use the microsoft USB utility to make a USB stick that i could install from.

However when I tried the install gets to 'installing features' and gives 'windows cannot install required files' error code 0x80070570 I looked the code up on google which sent me to a lot of threads here, so far I've tried:

Taking all but 1 stick of ram out and the graphics card.
Reseting the bios to default
Installing again without rebooting after error.
using cmd to select the right partition

Nothing has worked, please help me I'm losing my mind

So I have been trying to install windows seven into a hard drive for my friend.
I currently have windows install on my C:, have a separate HD for storage D:, and the third one that my friends wants windows installed into G;.
I am running windows 7 ultimate x64 and im trying to install essentially the same version into the G: drive.
Anyways first run through was going well, then it reset after reaching Completing installationg, but when it restarted it went to Roll back and undid the whole install.
From then on It wont let me install and on the Parition selection on the install screen it just says "Cannot install into this disk. The disk's controller is not enabled in your BIOS."
I have done some searches to try and find a solution to this issue, trying everything but no improvements.
Changed the format of the disk from MBR to GTP and back to MBR.
Looked for bad sectors.
Did start up repair.
Formated and reformated the disk.
Went into the BIOS and switched SATA from ACHI to IDE to Raid even. None of which seemed to make any difference.
Tried 2 different windows 7 x64 ,and one Windows 7 x32 installs all which give me the same error.
But the Disk itself seems to work, I can copy file to and from it, installed Autocad in it and ran it from there. I am no longer sure what to do about this.
Any help is welcome.

Hi,

I have recently upgraded my system from windows vista to windows 7. Everything seems to work fine except the printer - Dell all in one printer 922. To solve the issue, I have followed several solutions from different forums. For e.g., according to one solution (this solution seemed sensible), I have deleted the printer from my system, uninstalled all the printer driver software and have tried to use the vista 32 drivers to get my printer working. But all in vain. I have tried the process almost ten times now and I am tired. That's why I have come to this forum. Please could any one of you help me resolve this issue. Thank you in anticipation.

Answer:Windows 7 - Dell aio 922 Printer Issue

I had the same problem with my Dell AIO 964... Try downloading the the Patch/Upgrade .Zip file from the Dell website. When it finishes downloading open it and run the DellCleanUpUtility.exe this will delete the driver that Windows 7 automatically installed. When the Utility completes it will ask to reboot, allow it do so, then procede to install the windows vista version of your printer driver from the Dell website. Cho Yung Tea

Just got windows 7 on dell 530 asprion. Did a clean download with windows 7 --had some storage memory problems--- but got that corrected . 7 works great runs nice but i am getting a problem from my dell aio 948 printer connecting to my documents i need to print. Finally got it to print after hours of tech support. Next day was printing from mail merge on works 9 problem returns and now still dont get print command connection.

As for a dell aio 948 if you have one they will give you a message in the right corner in front of your document showing you ready capacity to print using aio's ink jet system

printer prints and i get a nice copy of my document

unfortunatly when i start to print my document off of the file menu i choose print then get my preference window-- choose "ok"-- get a flash of a tiny download window -- possibley to say that the document has been seen and will be sent to the printer-- and that's the last command the computer shows -- my lower right capicity window does not show on the monitor as usual-- and no printing connection takes place

no paper goes through the printer either

sounds like a easy enough problem to fix --- print command just doesn't tell the aio that there is something ready to print--- but where do i go to fix the problem ?

Anyone know about ?

Here's what I did so far.....I uninstalled previous printer program. Downloaded latest drivers from Lexmark website. Ran installation wizard. All apparently successful..... But when I go to Settings --> Printers --> Add PRinter..... the LExmark X63 is NOT an option.

What do I do now? I can't find a list of "compatible" printers for Win98 on Lexmark's website. They answered my question with a "download latest drivers".... well I already did that!

Do you think my installation just didn't work properly? Perhaps I should uninstall / reinstall again? I downloaded the files and put them on a CD from Lexmark's website. Can I "run" it from the CD?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you get the error Windows Repair Disk has stopped working when trying to make a repair disk in backup and recovery here's why it happens and how to fix it.
(thanks to auggy for this solution on the MS forums.)
the issue is with the DBROverlayIcon.dll which is a component of Dell Backup and Recovery (Dell Backup And Recovery Shell Extension).
To workaround the issue go to the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Backup and Recovery\Components\Shell
In that folder right-click the DBROverlayIcon.dll and rename it to DBROverlayIcon.old
If successful creating a repair disk you can rename the DBROverlayIcon.old back to DBROverlayIcon.dll

I hope someone from Dell reads these forums because this is an error that should have got past a functional quality test case package.

Hi all!  I just signed this website and I'm so glad!!!

Here  is my question.  I have  an HP Pavilion dx4 Notebook and a Dell v305 inkjet printer.  When the system goes to sleep, it is forgetting the driver I've installed, and I have to keep reinstalling it!!  What am I doing wrong?  I'm using Dell's Install Utility that automatically installs and then checks that it's working.  And it appears to save said driver in Windows 7 Ultimate.  Am I supposed to be doing something else as well??  Help in Seattle!!

I doubt if anyone can answer this unless they have had direct, first hand experience. I am inclined to say yes but I would encourage you to search the net for an answer and try to see what the manufacturer has to say. If having the printer available is extremely important I would wait for an answer and confirmation before you proceed.

I recently installed a distro of Linux on my dell Inspiron, after deciding it wasn't for me I wanted to get use the windows 7 boot loader and remove Linux. No problem, I thought, I'll just boot up the windows 7 system disk, use the repair option to overwrite GRUB and delete the Linux partitions.

Problem is my dell laptop doesn't appear to have come with an install disk for windows 7. It does, however, come with a disk called 'application', 'drivers and utilities', 'resource media' and 'roxio creator strater'. There isn't a possibilty that my OS is hiding one of these is there?

Answer:Windows 7 System Disk for a Dell Inspiron

Hello OffAndOnAgain and welcome to TSF,

If you didn't remove the hidden recovery partition, you can restore your PC using that. Depending on what Dell machine you have, you can either restore with backup discs or with a built in startup command. Use one of the methods below:

1. Download/Buy a recovery disc here.
2. Press CTRL + F11 during bootup, choose to restore the system.

I need to put Windows 7 on a new internal hard drive that's in my Samsung laptop. I found someone who has a Windows 7 disk for sale, unopened, along with the drivers disk, but it says Dell on it. Would it work on my Samsung laptop, even though it's not a Samsung hard drive, or would it only be made to work on a Dell computer?

Hello, I have Dell T5500 workstation with windows 7 pro 64 bit. There is a win product key sticker on the casing. However Dell windows installation cd is lost. Is there any way I can download iso image again or retrieve this cd/dvd? I have tried to use this product key with another windows installatiot but key is not recognized. Microsoft support sugfested me to try to obtain oem install disk again. How to do that?
Thank you!

Answer:Retrive Dell Windows installation disk

If you have Retail Installation Media. Make a Bootable USB and delete the EI.cfg file in the sources folder. Install Windows 7 Pro without a Product Key and then apply Dell OEM SLP.

Because of software problems, I made an image of Windows 7 as I had it, cleaned the hard disk with DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke), and reinstalled the software on my Lenovo laptop from the Windows 7 disk. This has worked OK, but my Dell Latitude won't boot from the Windows 7 disk. Please tell me how I can get this laptop to boot.

Answer:Dell Latitude won't load Windows 7 from disk

Too many unknowns here for me to help much.

What did you create the image with, and what partitions did you backup/restore ?
Macrium, Acronis, AOMEI, Windows built-in backup program, etc. ?

Your specs show Win 7 Enterprise.
Is this a business PC, and is there an IT support staff that can help ?

How did you reinstall software from the Windows 7 disk if the Windows 7 disk won't boot ?

I'm a home user with PC's using Legacy MBR installs (not UEFI).
When i mess with things and a PC won't boot, a Startup Repair fixes the problem.

I have a Del 1600N Multi function printer that has been in use (successfully) for about two years on my home network. The printer has a built in NIC and is connected via a dedicated 10BaseT line to my network. This printer was working just FINE until I decided to use it as a fax. Some how during that process I must have cleared the network configuration and it stopped being visible on my network.

After some investigation into this I was able to get it back on the network my manually assigning it an IP address. Using the supplied installation DVD, I was able to install the printer onto my two desktop computers (running XP Pro 32 bit) and it works just as well as before.

The problem occurs with my wife's Dell laptop. Before the great "fax fiasco" (as I like to call my stupid attempt to use this printer as a fax machine), the laptop was able to find and print to this printer with very little problems. Now, not so much!

When I went to re-install this printer the first time I made sure that the Dell Printer software was uninstalled (via Control Panel--Uninstall Programs). The first attempt seemed to be going fine. The software detected the printer on the network and it looked like a successful install. However, the test page did not print out! I checked in the "Printer Properties" to make sure that the printer was on line and sure enough, it was. But there was a troubleshooting alert that told me the document didn't print. After several ho... Read more

Answer:Dell 1600n Printer not showing up in Printer window

Well, I fixed it.

part of the problem is that the laptop in question has Windows 7 Home Edition. This version of Windows 7 is missing several of the administrative tools that come with Windows 7 Pro. So there is no way to access the PrintManagement.Msc to locate and delete the printer drivers that were not deleted by the Uninstall.

For this you need to first make sure you uninstalled the software, them to need to open Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Just locate the "Run" dialog box and type in "MMC". Another dialog box will show up. From the listing, locate the drivers you want to delete. There are two options. But I used the one that saws delete drivers and software.

Once they were gone I downloaded the latest 64bit drivers from Dell and then installed them. It worked like a charm.

Windows 7Currently running norton 360, but temporarily turned off firewall and it still won't printPrinter connected by USB cord, printer is both connected to the wall and to the computerThe computer recognizes the printer is there but can't communicate with itI have restarted them multiple times and no diceThis has been happening for months and months and the "cannot communicate" message used to only pop up sometimes, now it is every time I try to printI have tried a different USB cable And doesn't work eitherIt is using the printer port LPT1I don't have the disk the printer came withPlease help I have multiple assignments due by midnight and have read through pages and pages with the same issue and nothing works and I'm about to freaking throw it out the window

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with Windows Vista OS. I have a Dell 926 printer interfaced to it via USB. Printer driver is installed and the printer does communicate at times with the computer and does a good job printing. However, intermittently when trying to print a document I'll get a message on the computer that says that communication has been lost and print job failed.

I've checked all connections to make sure they are solid and no debris that might cause this.
That has not corrected the problem.
The other thing that happens is that the document I want to print will stay in the print queue/spooler and if I shut the computer and printer down and restart both it will print the job. And it may continue to print jobs but it's just a matter of time.

Needless to say this is frustrating. I can print several jobs in a row with no problem and then I'll get this "communication has been lost between printer and computer". And I have to go thru the procedure above to get the last job printed.

My wife doesn't understand how this works and will try to print the same job several times with the commo problem and then complains when it won't print.....and then they all print when the above procedure is followed.

Any ideas what is going on??? Any fixes??

Windows 10 did me in (Show me the way to go home (back to W8.1) - Windows 10 Forums), so I want to throw in the towel and build my Windows 8 system from scratch - I have all my files and list of installed apps with their configs. I ordered and received the Windows 8 recovery disk for my computer from Dell.

Except, when I boot the disk, it prompts me to enter the product key. Isn't it supposed to read it from the BIOS on the motherboard?

I should add: Over the summer, I had to have the motherboard replaced. It, too, came from Dell. I presume the technician had the product key reinstalled, because it was working fine at the time.

When I called Dell, they told me to enable legacy boot and make sure secure boot was off. I did both those things, but got the same result. I see there are a myriad of programs out there that will read the product key, but... You guessed it: You need administrative access. And I lost it, when I upgraded to Windows 10.

I could call Dell, but since my system is now out of warranty, they want to charge me for support.

Can anyone help me with this unmitigated disaster?

Dan

Answer:Dell Windows 8 recovery disk does not read product key

Dell discs normally are pre-activated and do not require entering a product key. However, you should have a sticker with the product key to use. If its a laptop its usually in the battery compartment. On a desktop its usually on the back or bottom.

Dell has a free forum with users, like this forum, that will help.

Hi All,

I'm running into a significant amount of trouble trying to re-install my copy of Windows 7 Professional (x64). I recieved my new Dell Studio 1557 yesterday, and was installing all my new software etc only to be met with a various and (pretty much) unsolvable blue screen error about 12 hours into the process.

Anyway, after an agonising few hours on the phone with Dell Customer Support, they suggested that I do a clean/manual install of the O/S from the Boot Disk I was provided.

I have attempted to do this several times now, selecting F12 as the computer restarts and choosing to boot from CD/DVD drive. However, each time I am met with this error:

Quote:
0xc0000001

FILE: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe

"The selected entry could not be loaded..."

Would copying the boot CD contents to a USB HDD, then booting from there help?

If anyone is able to help me out with this, that would be fantastic. It's so frustrating that I just bought a new system, and already it's died!!!!

Cheers,

Ben.

Answer:Dell Windows 7 Boot Disk will not function (0xc0000001)

Welcome!

Sounds like you got a bad installation disc. That would explain your first problem too.

I would recommend contacting Dell and having them send you new installation discs.

You can try creating a USB installation key first if you like. It certainly can't hurt. Be sure to read this tutorial: USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I have an HP printer installed on my portable HDD - E:\ drive, actually also had a partition in my C drive before, but after re-installing Windows I only have the directory left on the portable HDD (E:\ drive), not C:\ as it's been cleaned out. However, I can use other programs if I shortcut their icons from E:\ such as old games even though I don't have any C:\ directories anymore, the thing is of course that printers don't have icons and you just use them. So, can I use the printer with a directory only on my E (portable) drive without the need to re-install it?

Answer:using printer after Windows re-install

Re-installing the printer would be your best option just to make sure all the files and everything that are required are in the right place, shouldnt be hard at all if its a new printer.

I wouldnt recommend accessing things the way you are doing as stuff gets moved around in the registry and files go missing wont exactly hurt the computer just the stuff may not run 100%.

If you post your printers model number and manufacture I will even help you track down the driver you need for xp.

I tried to install a Kodak ESP-3 but halfway through the installation failed with a code number as an error message. After visiting Kodak support, I used their "Clear Utility for Kodak Software" and then their "All-in-One Software Downloads" which also failed. I tried all 3 of these procedures twice more but with the same results. I then went to my wife's computer, which is 5' feet away and installed the printer from the CD...no problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what is the problem with my computer, please?
