I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: lap top only charges 80%,its only 8 months old, windows 8

mmm... often seen this to be resolved by allowing the battery to discharge "fully" - totally flat etc... Then recharge...I have seen suggestions/recommendations to allow a battery to fully discharge now and then - so as to prevent any memory effects (which lithium batteries are not "supposed" to suffer). Is said to prolong the life...Some suggest remove the battery if running on mains power; as that too will lengthen battery life as battery will hold charge for a while and then it naturally decay...I have an elderly/olde Acer Aspire (2005 at least) with the original battery still OK... It has been removed for periods of time - when it appeared to have charging problems; it wouldn't charge up properly. But after a total clean install/rebuild of the operating system (XP-Pro) the battery charges fine to a full 100%, and retains it too...message edited by trvlr

Great laptop that Ive been using for 1.5 years. Recently I've noticed my battery is showing signs of an error other Dell users are reporting.
Laptop charges fine to 76% then it starts alternating from "plugged in, charging" to "plugged in, not charging". Charging after 76% becomes really slow.
What I've done so far:
1. Updated BIOS
2. Updated Dells Power Management tool
3. BIOS can detect the adapter (45W). Im using the adapter that came with the laptop
4. Battery settings in power management and BIOs are set to Standard
5. Completely drained the battery and tried doing a full charge
6. Uninstalled Microsoft ACPI compliant control in device manager then re-installed
Battery diagnostics show the battery is in EXCELLENT health.
Any ideas?

I update and save quite a few files each day, and I can see in File History that there are many saved versions for these files.
This would fill up my backup drive fairly quickly, and therefore, I need to reduce 'Keep saved versions' from the default of 'forever' to about 3 months.  But does this mean that all files older than 3 months will be deleted my File History backup?
What happens to all my files that have only ever been saved once, but are older than 3 months?  Are these retained in File History or deleted?
The forums on File History do no make this very clear.

Hello,

Okay first of all I would like to say I have been having on going issues for months to almost a year... I have tried everything I can think of... Including wiping harddrives to DoD standards with dban, gparted etc.... I have tried monitering my connections with wireshark...  I have tried several differet anti- (virus and malware) programs including paid version of kaspersky, malwarebytes, bitdefender, eset.....

This problem also has involved some black hat hackers compromising my system and bank account, credit card etc all being hit and continueing to do so... I have switched ISPs , changed hardware, thrown away devices including cell phones and laptops... It seems that they were also backdoored into several of my devices and were using several different methods to continue to spread and infect other devices.. These devices include android, iphone, ipod, ipad, netbook, laptop, smart tv and even my dvd player (java).. I have tried to ask for help and seek help for this and no one can figure it out or think this cant be real.

I have now thrown out all laptops, and all phones at the same time and started from scratch but having issues on a brand new laptop... I am not sure this is the same issue as before... However, I would like and really appreciate if someone could help me out and view my logs and make sure.. because I have been through hell and back with all these issues.. I purchased said unit Sept. last year and within a few months the battery started discharging for no reason I could see. Battery returned to Lenovo, tested and a new battery sent out (old one apparently kaput). I thought the problem was solved until a few days ago when... Battery starts discharging again for no reason I can see. Laptop eventually went into hibernation. Unplugged charger, plugged back in, switched on then powered up the laptop and the battery started charging. This sequence of events was repeated 3 times in 1 week, until yesterday when powering up the laptop failed. Took the battery out and tried laptop on charger only. Nothing. Put battery back in and tried to power up - then noticed battery indicator gave 3 orange flashes 1 second apart before stopping. Did the battery discharge thing (pressing in the power button etc.). Still nothing. The unit seems to have failed completely. Can someone tell my what I might be dealing with here - a failed motherboard? Yet again I'm going to have to send this laptop back for repair, and it's been nothing short of a nightmare because I rely on it to do work. I've never experienced something like this before with a purchased laptop and I suspect the original battery problem was caused by a fault inside the laptop. As the machine is still within warranty can I request a new machine or a full refund because I simply don't want to use something which may be inherently unstable? Looking at the views ... Hi all,

I have a problem with my battery.

1. Computer is turned off
2. The battery is LOW
3. I plug in the power cable and the LED is Orange and the battery is charging.
I know the battery is charging because when I turn on the computer after a while there is for example 44% charged.
4. When I look now at the battery status there is "44% available, battery plugged in, not charging
5. at this time the battery is not charging anymore and the power goes down 40%.....35%....32%....ex...
6. When I now turn of the computer the LED is back orange and the battery is charging again.

7. one more thing : when the battery is 100% charged with computer off and I then turn the computer on
the battery stays at 100% because the computer is running on power cable.

My conclusion is that the battery only charges when the computer is turned off ?
ones the battery is 100% the computer works on power cable.
if the battery is not charged for 100% and I turn on the computer, the computer is not working on power cable ( the power cable is plugged in ) and the battery power lowers again.
What can I do about that.

Answer:Satellite A200-1G2 battery only charges when Windows is shut down?

Hi mate,

First of all I must agree you that battery charging should also work if the notebook is turned on. I mean on my notebooks it works always properly and I have only founded this on the Toshiba website: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ35007K001ZR01.htm

But to be honest I think there is a hardware problem with your notebook because there is no software option that must enable/disable to charge battery in Windows.
Another question: If you go into BIOS, will the battery be charged?

If not I would contact the nearest authorized service provider for help. They should check your notebook and maybe it?s a mainboard problem or something else. On the Toshiba website you can search for nearest ASP:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Find an authorized service provider

If you have more questions, please let us know and give us a feedback if the problem is solved. It?s always interesting to read this and I think for other users too. ;)

The battery in my first gen S10 died after about 7 months. Fortunately, I was still well within my warranty so Lenovo held up their end and replaced it. However, after about 8 months that second battery too no longer holds a charge and my original warranty has since expired. Phone support reiterated as much and denied any help.  This leads me to ask, shouldn't the second battery carry with it a full one year warranty? How can Lenovo not stand by a battery that dies in less than a year? This seems like more than just bad luck and has me questioning whether I will purchase another Lenovo product in the future.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Microsoft has let the cat out of the bag a week early and stated "there is not another WinHEC planned before Windows 7 is released."
As the WinHEC conference is an annual affair, providing the conference isn't cancelled next year then this would put Windows 7 on target for a RTM before November next year.
The revelation follows comments from ASUS CEO Jerry Shen discussing the future of the ASUS Eee PC in an interview with Laptop Mag. "I think in the future in the second half of next year we will put Windows 7 on Eee PCs" said Shen.
If all of this is true and Microsoft is on target with Windows 7 then recent rumours of a Beta 1 in December would not be far off.

Evaluation Copy. Build 8400

Is there a way to turn it from a preview into Windows 8 Pro?
Can I install over it? (and keep everything the way it is: programs, settings, etc.)
Can I continue to use it as a preview or will my computer evaporate into a cloud of smoke if I do that?

Microsoft has stepped up its effort to promote its Vista operating system, but Windows XP just isn?t going away. The company reportedly extended the OEM downgrade timeline once again: As of now, system builders can still offer Windows XP downgrades to their customers and will be able to do so until Vista?s second birthday.Click to expand...

News source

Perhaps Win7 should be based on WinXP instead of adding more bloat to Vista? I think Microsoft should get a clue. They should give customers what they want and not what Microsoft wants them to have.

As far as I know, you can only go back to the earliest date shown on System Restore. Earlier restore points I assume are replaced by more recent ones.

Just recently, my super fast notebook struggles to do anything. It fails to load any pages in a browser before it shows 'not responding' and / or crashes the browser completely.  I've uninstalled the Chrome browser and tried again and the same thing happens. The same behaviour in the Edge browser where I also cleared all the data. I recently installed Adobe Photoshop and wondered if that could be the problem so I went to the control panel to uninstall it.... but the control panel freezes and so far I've been unable to uninstall it. I'm now having to use a work laptop for personal use as the notebook which was purchased in January is simply useless, slow and freezes a lot when trying to do tasks that it recently used to zip through with ease. Can anyone help? Has there been a problem with a Windows 10 automatic update recently?  thank you

Is anyone else excited for some of the upcoming changes?

Are you already running the preview version or waiting until the final version so you don't have to reinstall once it ships? I personally am waiting until it ships as I already deal with entirely too many OS's day in and day out. Win 2k3, 2k8, 2012, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8...no more Vista machines. Hopefully no more XP machines soon as well.

Which features are you most excited about? As someone who does a lot of web development the rewritten developer tools in Internet Explorer look promising (I have a preview version on a Windows 7 VM)

Answer:Less than 2 months til Windows 8.1 release day

Been playing with the 9471 release since it came out and there is a lot that's changed in 8.1. As much as people say Microsoft hasn't listened with 8 they really did with 8.1. Short of Metro off, and I do understand that's all a lot of folks care about, just about every other major issue that I know of in 8 was addressed in some fashion in 8.1. Booting to the desktop, some configurability in the hot corners, better Modern app multitasking and support for multiple monitors, better in the box training, better UI cues and guidelines for them, overall much improved in the box Modern apps particularly the Mail and Music clients (though the Photos app lost Facebook and Flikr integration which seems stupid) and the Start Screen is significantly improved with much better manageability and better keyboard and mouse operation though context menuing still needs to be improved.

It's a pretty big step in the right direction but it's not enough to appease the hardcore desktop folks but I do think it will be better accepted by consumers, particularly if next gen Windows 8 tablets are what I'm hoping for. Bay Trail tablets should be a big boost forward in performance and capability, and hopefully the pricing will be there, that's really got to improve.

Can someone please please please tell me how to get windows 10 off my laptop. I have done two clean installs and i tried a hard drive wipe keeping my files NOTHING works. Seriously i do not want this operating system on my laptop it has totally screwed up the laptop its constantly crashing every time it wakes up from sleep and is super glitchy just working within the OS. So can someone please help i do not care what i have to do i have backed up all my stuff. I just want it off. Thanks

Answer:Uninstall windows 10 after having it for 6 months

I have done two clean installs does that mean you have the DVD for your previous op sys? (Windows 7 or 8.1?)
You could buy a new harddrive and install your previous op sys on that.
It could just be that you haven't got the Windows 10 drivers for the hardware, or when you did a clean install of previous op sys you didn't download the drivers for that either.
A few more details would help, what was your previous op sys and what dvds do you have? and what is the make and model of your laptop and did you get the drivers needed?

Hello! I built a custom computer & installed OEM Windows 7 Pro-OA.

The program activated with no problems and has been updating all along, with no problems until yesterday, which interestingly is exactly 3 months to the hour that I installed it. I received absolutely zero notices of problems until the "Windows not Genuine" issued happened.

Hopefully someone can help me. Here is the report:

That looks like a problem to me, unsure of what you might need to do. Somebody will be along that knows much more than me to help out. Just thought I'd point out what jumped out immediately.

Strange that it would be three months to the day before anything came up, especially with an OEM installation and an the indication of a retail license. I've always thought it was either one or the other.

I'm on 8.1 and have been avoiding updating ever since the huge Windows 10 controversy over privacy and telemetry and all that ****. But I think now, for the sake of security, I should probably think about installing some of the dozens, if not hundreds of updates, I've been ignoring. I'm gonna list all of them here. Could somebody please tell me which of them are safe to install and which might sneak Windows 10 onto my system?

On second thoughts, I won't LIST them ALL. I'll describe them. Quicker. I've got a security update for Silverlight, a definition update for Windows Defender, a cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 11, a whole bunch of security updates for Adobe Flash Player, Microsoft .NET Framework, and Windows, a whole bunch of non-security updates for Windows, and the latest version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. Which of all of these updates are OK and which should I hide?

(I wonder if Windows falls under the definition of malicious software.)

Answer:Haven't Updated Windows In Months

All Windows Defender Definitions should be updated as soon as you get them. You can do that by opening Windows Defender and clicking on Update.
As for Windows 10 updates you are trying to avoid look here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/windows-10-trying-to-force-upgrade.295938/
Look at post #12 Earthling gives a list of updates that are connected to Windows 10 that you might not want to update.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

i have been using windows 8 pro x64 with media center since around the time it was released and i took advantage of the upgrade offer, and up until about a week ago everything was running smoothly as expected. now in the past few days it says it needs activating and when i try to activate i get an error message, the control+alt+delete results in a delay of about 15-20 mins followed by an error message saying task manager wont open. i have not changed or added any hardware or my system configuration at all, apart from software.

i ran SFC scannow and it found and fixed some corrupt files but the symptoms still remain the same as described after a restart.
can anybody suggest possible fixes, or do i need to reinstall........................

Answer:Windows claims to not be genuine after two months or so

Windows is unable to find the SLIC table in the BIOS required to self-activate the OEM_SLP Key in use

You need to change the Product Key to the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case (or inside the battery compartment), using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page.

You may need to activate by phone.

OK, I have exactly 2 days of working with Windows 10, but, after all these years of Windows and studying the OS, I feel I have earned the right to believe that I can see where MS has gone with 10 after this short time. BTW, I have never even booted a W8 PC, and all of my PCs are basically W7 Pro 64, other than a couple of XP Pro machines. I don't feel like I am biased, considering the upgrade is free, but here is what I would like to say:

All respect to all other opinions, but I have an opinion that is framed a little bit unusually. This is that I believe MS absolutely has accomplished one thing with W10. It is fully granny-proofed. I don't think granny will have a single complaint. IMO, this is a nice thing in a very important sense.

This looks 100% to me like a call to get out there and get mother and granny hooked up. It's Windows the granny edition, and I do like that aspect of the upgrade option.

This said, I would also like to say that I don't see the difference between this and Windows 7 under the wrapper, and I confess I don't know why MS would force anyone to upgrade who has W7. I really feel MS should add 5+ years to support for W7 for the sake of business machine owners who work on their PCs. Give IT time to learn everything there is to learn about W7 in corporate environments and give the OS a chance to pass the test of time. I think W7 can win and even with MS charging for it on new PCs. Make the W10 thing an option.

Answer:Comments Windows 10 After 6 Months (or 2 Days)

You need to look at the Enterprise version for business use rather than the Pro version. Never been quite sure myself just who the Pro version is intended for. With data you could turn off Bing and Cortana because that's how most of the stuff concerning YOU gets out, but that just leaves you in Google's tender hands. Fact of life - use the internet and your data will be gathered by someone.

Hello there.
I recently changed my settings for Windows Update, to let it check for updates, but now it always asks for a restart.
I tried almost every solution, i don't know what to do, i need SP1 for SQL Server 2012 to work, but it's not installing. I even downloaded the update from microsoft's website, but the installer fails.
I tried almost every method i found :
- setting it to never update, then setting it back to automatic
- deleting the registry keys from the Update-er
- deleting the files in SoftwareDistribution
- trying FixIt (normal and aggressive mode)
- trying the FixIt method manually
- renaming the edb.log file in the SoftwareDistribution folder via safe-mode.

I can't give you an error number, since it doesn't show one. It just asks for a restart, but nothing happens. I really need this fixed...

As the topic says, my windows updates have been failing for the last eight months and I'm about to give up and do a fresh reinstall.  I'm hoping someone will have a suggestion for me, since I'd rather NOT have to go through the hassel of reinstalling everything. I'm fairly technical, but I'm at a complete loss. This all started back on July 2012 super Tuesday where all the updates downloaded and failed to install.  With each successive month of released updates, the list of failed gets longer and longer, the only exception being that the MSSE updates seem to go through with no problem.I've googled the heck out of the error code, but none of the fixes I found worked. I've tried the built-in updates troubleshooter, but it lies to me, tells me it fixed the issues, but the updates fail all the same. I've tried manually downloading the updates from their KB articles, but individually they fail to install.I'd love to hear if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas. Thanks!

I had Windows 8 Professional edition from ASDF India (Association of Software Developers & Faculties). They had provided a KMS Activated version, which after installation, activated Windows 8 automatically. Also to mention that it is a genuine copy, as I had a special password which was provided by them to log in and download windows 8. However, I was not provided any extra Keys.

After running smoothly for 8 months, today out-of-the-blue a message pops up saying Windows 8 is not activated. The error shows as follows :

Error : 0x8007232B
Description : DNS Name does not exist.

I tried to follow the steps mentioned in this Microsoft Help article Error 0x8007232b or 0x8007007B occurs when you try to activate Windows, but could not solve the error.

Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

My HP PC is 20 months old and they have decided not to provide the drivers for the graphic card (which I find is over 5 years old) for Windows 10. I've been in touch with their customer service, after being passed around for hours on end, and been told "Your PC is 20 months old, we are selling new graphics cards that will work with Windows 10, we are not providing drivers for your existing graphics card because, that way we sell more.

What an attitude !

I've got it to crash pretty consistently while running superantispyware and it only crashes then if the "Use kernel direct file access" and "Use kernel direct registry access" boxes are checked under >Preferences >Scanning Control. I couldn't figure out how to read the minidumps, they are .dmp and i'm pretty new to all this kind of stuff. But bsod says

While you still can back up as much data as you can onto CD or DVD.
A page is a fixed length block of memory
transferred between physical RAM and storage.

The page fault refers to a particular block its address in Hex form.

Download a copy of memtest and burn the ISO to CDROM. You need to boot from the CD and give your memory a thorough test.

http://www.memtest.org/

I'd also make sure that you are not overclocking your memory or system, as its 6 months old, you may still have warrantry. Sometimes memory errors can be cleared by removing and re-inserting memory modules.

I say this is completely ridiculous as by the time you have put everything back in place - not to mention all the updates for your anti-virus - spyware and adware programmes, it's time to start again!! Surely you should try a repair first etc..

I have XPpro SP2.

I have no idea what causes this but the whole boot seems to screw up in exact the same manner at roughly the exact same time causing me to go through the whole process again and again.

I do a fresh install. Thing srun fine for few months then I begin to get anomalous reboots on startup. This will happen once or twice then it becomes every single time I boot up. It gets to the splash screen then I hear that little click inside the computer indicating it's reset itself. After the 1st reset it seems fine for the rest of the day.

It will go on like this for a while before completely conking out. At some point it will usually stop booting up at all and give me various error messages saying the system files are corrupt. The only solution I've found so far is to nuke it and do a fresh install on new partition. As I havn't reached 'critical' stage yet I couldn't tell you the precise error messages it gives me once it fails to boot as I'm still in the reboot phase.

It baffles me why it happens in such a routine fashion at the same time and in the same way.

Also I forgot how to do it but how do you reinstall windows again over the top of your current one without losing your settings? I think with my version it won't let me do it cos the repair function doesn't work within windows which is why I always have to do a fresh one.

Answer:Windows xp screws up like clockwork after every 3 months after reinstall

Hi,

To do a fresh install over the top - as a multi boot, you install as normal and you should have the option to "Leave system intact (no changes)"
...Or create a new partition in the setup menu.

Is the version of Windows XP SP2 a legit windows CD or did you use a SP1 disk to create the SP2 disc?

If it happens every few month like clockwork, it doesnt seem to me that it has anything to do with hardware, otherwise it would happen everytime, fresh install or not. Does it do the same thing when no USB devices are connected, could it be a software update for one of your USB devices that comes after a couple months from install? Have you tried installing SP3 straight after installing SP2? Give these a try and let me know if you have already or the results :-)

This is a short history of my OS activity. I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 8.1 sometime early last year that went very well (never used 8.0). At the end of the year I upgraded to Windows 10 and that also went very well. Have you checked for any system updates recently? Hanging graphics tend toward video graphics drivers being clobbered by MS updates. Also, check to see if screen saver is set to revert to Welcome screen. That worked for me on some machines.

Hello Guys,

Just thought I'd let you know that after my unsuccessful Window 8.1 update on the first day of release I have tried it again this week and this time it has gone really smoothly and I'm very impressed with it.

When I originally installed it it made my computer really slow and several previously installed programs had stopped working so I put a image of pre 8.0 install back on to my computer.

The only problem I have which is very small is that I have set a key on my mouse to show the desktop (minimise all windows), on Win 8 it would minimise everything and the 8GadgetPack sidebar would still be displayed, in 8.1 the sidebar is also minimised which is a little annoying. If I use the minimise all windows shortcut on keyboard (win key+M) it will do what I want but I can't set the button on my mouse to do that.

Also the second problem which I hope will be fixed with a gadget update is the Network gadget doesn't work and any new gadgets I add do not work, I think this is something to do with dpi scaling but I can wait for it to be rectified.
So all those of you who had trouble with the 8.1 upgrade, it might be worth another look at it.

Thanks

Tony

Hi ,

Sorry my thread title is quite bad, but my problem can only be described as "weird". For some reason, my laptop has turned crazy recently, the following basically:
I can't access the features from start menu (so can't launch apps, and can't turn off laptop normally.Half of the icons on my toolbar are missing.Using search function only searches the web (i.e. can't search for documents and stuff like control panel :/).Can't open some apps (e.g. any Microsoft Office apps, like PowerPoint- which is really inconvenient).

The list goes on and on, I have been using Windows 10 for around 2 months now, so I really have no clue as to why this problem occurred or how to fix it.

Thanks.

Microsoft's latest operating system Windows 7 has gone on sale in the UK almost three months ahead of schedule at massively reduces prices, it has emerged.
The software officially goes on sale to the general public on October 22, but Microsoft has released it early with prices starting from ?49.99 for Windows Premium.
Early buyers will be able to snap up Windows 7 for a limited pre-sale period and will save up to ?100 for the Premium package alone.

Microsoft announced early sales of its Windows 7 operating system, just days after Google announced it was releasing a rival product

Those who purchase Windows 7 Professional will pay ?99.99 instead of ?189.99.

A spokesperson for the company has said stocks are limited for the sale which runs from today until August 9.
But all UK versions of Windows 7 will not come with Internet Explorer, which means buyers must install a web browser to upgrade their computer's operating system.
Microsoft is currently in an ongoing legal battle with the EU which said that automatically installing Internet Explorer was anti-competitive to other browsers.
All sales of Microsoft 7 will be based on a first come first served basis, according to The Telegraph.

Hello,
I just want' a clear answer if there is one.
How to make DisplayPort work on (OEM) Win 7 Pro/x64, HP Probook 6470b.

Here is the situation: I don't want 3 displays... heck I just want one to work via Displayport - it did for 5 months...
Situation:
1. i needed external display (only DVI-D Monitor available) .
2. i got DisplayPort to DVI-D cable: DisplayPort hooked to DVI-D input of SamsungSyncmaster 245B worked great!
(up to 1920x1080: no problem: closed the lid an auto.got 1920x1080 on external monitor):
3. I took laptop and hooked it to TV: DisplayPort->HDMI: no problems...
4. One day it "decided" to stop working... and I don't think the DisplayPort is broken: something else is (according to all troubles people go through I would say I was very lucky to get away with this: e.i. getting the pisture from DisplayPort..) - in fact it's not broken: when tested on Ubuntu it works, so HW is ok.
5. I reinstalled intelHD 4000 drivers to new ones (v.dec2014) - even though the things worked with old one (v.jul2013), going to restore points,...
6. Tried...well almost all there is to be found on internet (where else?) - nothing works, though DisplayPort works with no problem on ubuntu (makes you think...doesn't it?)
7. Tried DisplayPort to VGA^ - vga monitor not even detected, nothing... as with dvi monitors, or hdmi (TV)

We do not recommend automated driver update software. It often finds drivers for devices similar to but not exactly the same as the hardware actually on the system. This can lead to conflicts and blue screen crashes. If you need help finding driver updates for a certain device, please start a thread in Drivers - Windows 7 Forums instead of using software. Driver updates are not always necessary and some updates can actually decrease system stability rather than increase it, so it is usually better not to update unless a device or its driver is causing problems with the system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I got a new PC last July and all was great until 24 hours ago, I got chrome crashing ie not responing, IE 11 freezing, my mcafee security would appear to be running but could not access the settings. I then tried a reboot worked for a few minutes and then problem repeated. I then tried to sign out of my account and got a message MCAFEE vulnerability scanner was running please wait but I have that facility switched off. I assumed that was the problem and contacted Mcafee support and they were so bad I deleted Mcafee today and got kasperspy but tonight when priinting a document I got a BSOD and the message " clock watch .. timeout"
I did a quick search but no luck.

Hi there,
So Ive just noticed in the past week or so that my windows has been trying to update and has been failing for months and everything I've tried does nothing to fix the situation.  Anyone else ever have this problem? My laptop has been infected for months with cryptowall. Instead of dealing with the issue I just unplugged it and put it aside. Probably not the wisest of ideas, but I was dealing with a family member with cancer. I just want to wipe it clean.  Any help with that process would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you.

Answer:Infected with Cryptowall on Windows 8. Haven't turned it on in months

A repository of all current knowledge regarding CryptoWall, CryptoWall 2.0 & CryptoWall 3.0 is provided by Grinler (aka Lawrence Abrams), in this topic: CryptoWall and DECRYPT_INSTRUCTION Ransomware Information Guide and FAQCryptowall typically deletes (though not always) all Shadow Volume Copies with vssadmin.exe so that you cannot restore your files via System Restore or using a program like Shadow Explorer...but it never hurts to try in case the infection did not do what it was supposed to do. Another possible options is to try file recovery software such as R-Studio or Photorec to recover some of your original files but there is no guarantee that will work.At this time there is no fix tool and Decryption of any CryptoWall Files...is impossible since there is no way to retrieve the private key that can be used to decrypt your files without paying the ransom. The only other alternative is to save your data as is and wait for possible updates...meaning, what seems like an impossibility at the moment (decryption of your data) there is always hope someday there may be a breakthrough or possible solution so save the encrypted data and wait until that time. There are also ongoing discussions in these topics:CryptoWall - new variant of CryptoDefense Support & DiscussionCryptoWall 3.0 Support & DiscussionRather than have everyone start individual topics, it would be best (and more manageable for staff) if you posted any questions, comments or requests for assistance in ... Hello.

Ok, here is the problem. In the past 5 months for these reasons I've had to either emergency repair, HD partition whipe, or install over it:

Tried installing some of the networking software that isn't with the standard install.

Once while installing a screensaver.

Once after I tried to reboot after installing an update to OS.

All of these resulted in hanging of startup and cause me to do one of the three things above. Anybody got any possible reasons why this would happen?

One more thing, I need a replacement for Cnet's Catchup service. Anybody know of any?

Thank You.

I have been using Windows 10 for an extended time, and have not dealt with any issue with BSODs so far. However, they started in the past week, and have been frequent. It appears to be a Bad_Stack_0x109 error, but I have no idea how to fix that. I have attached the zip file.

I can collect any more information if it is needed to help me fix my issue!

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Regular BSOD suddenly after using Windows 10 for multiple months

Only one of the dumps indicates a possible cause, all the rest show ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE.

I see a BIOS update for FUJITSU LIFEBOOK E544 on the Fujitsu web site. Try updating the BIOS.

No Windows 10 specific drivers though.

I do see a lot of Windows 8.1 drivers. Try installing the Intel wireless driver from the web site since the one dump indicated a problem with Netwbw02.sys which is part of the Intel wireless driver. If no help install the Chipset driver.

If still no help, give Driver Verifier a try.

Bought this laptop a few months ago from a coworker who i cant get in touch with to help with the problem im having. I do not have the OEM Vista key because the COA sticker is damaged and I didnt receive any of the packaging or paperwork from either the laptop or the 7 upgrade when i purchased the computer. After an update windows said it wasnt genuine. I have run sfc \ scannow and windows found a few corrupt files but succesfully repaired them. still having validation issues. Is there anything i can do besides contact HP for an OEM vista restore disk or purchasing a new Product Key for windows?

Hi,

After reading a few posts about this issue and trying to fix it, it seems it hasn't resolved.

I have read a lot of NoelDP's comments, so would love one of your 'easy fix' replies rather than the one or two 'reinstall!' replies.

I loaded up my computer yesterday and it showed me barebones non-Aero desktop with none of my icons, etc. The sound was not working. Failed to connect to windows service errors were showing in the taskbar.

I restarted and it seemed to work fine.

After a while my a message in the taskbar told me my windows was not genuine.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have started my computer up again this morning and it's showing from the start that it's not genuine.

I have entered my Key in to SLUI.exe 4, and it seems to have activated for now. The results below are from AFTER this activation and that means the computer is looking quite fine right now. I will restart and post another MGADiag if it comes up as not genuine again.

Anyway, I think this is what you need. The MGADiag.exe results:

Hello,
Here is the problem I was having before for reference:

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...v4-laptop.html

I don't know if this problem and the previous are related, so started a new thread. After re-installing the OS everything worked fine until a few weeks ago. So flawless for about 2 months. Very intermittent BSOD has become more frequent, just as before. Attached is my zip file for examination. Let me know if any further information is required. Thanks for your help!

Answer:BSOD starts 2 months after clean re-install of Windows 7 on HP Laptop

Hello there!

Since the reinstall of Windows if it still BSOD'ed then it could be Hardware. Run Hardware Diagnostic (RAM and hard Drive) Hardware Diagnostic | Captain Debugger

Check for BIOS update. It's pretty out-dated.

Dear Sir / Madam, Two problems with updating to windows 8 from windows 7 - Lenovo Thinkpad E320 1. Is there anyone who knows when Lenovo is going to release video driver (Windows 8) for switchable HD 6630 and Intel HD3000. Windows 7 drivers do not work on windows 8. Windows 8 just installs seperate Intel and AMD drivers which do not switch. I am stuck with lower performance intel HD3000 graphics as the default regardless of battery or mains power.  If someone knows working way to use switchable graphics on Windows 8 pls help! Tried (http://leshcatlabs.net/  and is not great (creates more problems). I rather have official driver from Lenovo. My laptop was brought direct from Lenovo website a couple of months ago thus one would expect drivers to be made available. 2. No Bluetooth icon anywhere (device manager / control panel etc) so Bluetooth software (wins 8 broadcom) will not install as it thinks laptop does not have Bluetooth hardware (after update from wins 7 to wins 8). Can not turn bluetooth on, as option does not appear in wins 8 PC settings - wireless (setting page). There is no Lenovo bluetooth software/drivers for my Edge E320 machine running Windows 8. Can someone from Lenovo get this sorted or at least give a answer Regards Stuart

Answer:No Bluetooth or switchable graphics in windows 8 for E320 - Months on now and not sorted

I bought a Toshiba Satelite that was having trouble connecting online. It kept saying that the IP was invalid, or the DNS could not be found...Eventually, I checked the system event logs. There were THOUSANDS of entries made in March 2014 and October 2014. I didn't purchase it until Dec 2014?????? Mostly, they were audits to the security and system files. They created a remote access local user account and manipulated everything I could access. Staples has replaced the laptop, (costing me an additional $85.00, on top of the $350.00 already paid initially, for a problem that I didn't cause. And they allowed me to keep the corrupted hard drive. Now, how do I find out WHO did this and how to prevent it from happening to others?

Answer:Windows 8.1 hijacked by a remote user, 9 months PRIOR to sale.....

I should also mention that the pre-installed norton account was manipulated, along with the "Free-Trial" office pack. They both had files that showed corruption and I didn't download either of them!!! They came with something already attached. And when Staples scanned for "Viruses", NOTHING showed up! So, once the remote user was able to implant themselves in my Windows registry files, they became "Trusted" and were able to bypass ALL of the anti-virus or malware software I ran, (And Staples..) because they "piggy-backed" themselves onto legitimate file entries through adding extensions those files. I have never heard of such a thing and I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of this or known of this happening??? I can't be the only one, and until thousands of people are victimized, this doesn't count as a significant problem. I'd like to spare others of this level of violation, if I can....Please help me understand what I can do to prevent this type of problem later. I'm burnt out and defeated by this issue, only because I didn't even know this was a "thing". I expected to open a box and find a brand new, "fresh off the lot" computer. And, instead, I ended up with some "borrowed" product, with ZERO traceability, and a "Maybe" we can get you something close to what you actually wanted......I walked out with a Windows 7 without even realizing until I got it home and turned it on!!!! And they wanted to charge me an ADDITIONAL $137.00!!!!! Why??? So, the manager knocked it down t... Read more

So I've been through the whole ordeal with Microsoft's "support" department, both through the Office 365 Admin Portal and the answers.microsoft.com team (who was, believe it or not, actually more competent).  Four months ago, first full week in January, my company's Office 365 OneDrive for Business system stopped syncing. 40 users, spread across a dozen states. Most employees are on Charter for Internet service but not all; I've determined it's NOT something like a Charter-specific issue.  On January 10, something changed where older documents would still sync but any documents modified on or after that date would not sync to any computer anymore, and changes made on the computer in Windows Explorer would not upload or sync.  (Changes made through Microsoft Office 2016 applications and saved using built-in Office methods still sync.)

We had been in the preview program for the Next Gen sync client since maybe November, so this was not a case of having the old Groove client made defunct and just failing to get on board with the new. We were already in the next gen program ahead of time.

Even to this day, OneDrive for Business libraries are out of sync, with all computers stuck on a status like "Downloading 153.9 KB of 402.5 MB at 0.0 KB/s, 1288 files remaining".  (Funny thing is I've moved on to another product for the time being and at present only have 1 Word and 1 Excel document in my OneDrive for Business folder at tenant-my.sharepoint.com!... If I make an appointment more than six months out (ex., doctor appointment) the reference on the calendar app immediately disappears. But it will get logged in my Google calendar immediately where it will stay, and eventually show up on my phone. But it is annoying that I can't see those appointments on my phone as I am trying to schedule things as far out as September. It wasn't like this before the last major phone 8.1 update. Will this bug get resolved?

I have ran chkdsk /r, used an admin disk to copy ntoskrnl.exe back to the Windows directory and reimaged the machine several times. This error still pops up after a few weeks of the machine being reimaged. At this point, I do not know what to do. I Googled on line for answers and some stated it may be hardware related. RAM, Hard Drive, Motherboard? Unfortunately, our T60s didn't come with a restore disk and I am not able to access the system partition with the original shipped image on it. Any suggestions for troubleshooting? It is not happening to any other T60 users with the same exact model and configuration. We are running Windows XP Pro SP2 with all the latest updates.

I have been fighting this virus/rootkit/bootkit whatever it is for getting close to 6 months now. It started as some virus on my little brothers computer at his house which infected his router and about 5 other computers in the house. I connected to the router and it proceeded to infect my laptop, the router at my home and all the computers there as well. It also has infected 4 android phones a Palm Treo Pro with windows mobile and a palm Pre. Along with infecting anyone who connected to any of the routers. I am currently writing this from my mothers laptop which has the worst infection. Question: AOL IM charges

I was with AOL for a few years, but recently changed to TalkTalk. All AOL payments have now stopped, but they said I can carry on using my account free for emails etcWith the AOL "IM2Mobile" service, you can send texts to mobiles as well. The charge is 6p per text and it says all costs will be added to your AOL bill, and you must be a current account holder. I spoke to AOL and they said all my direct debit has been cancelled and I won't incur any further charges - so can I safely assume the text service wil be free?

Answer:AOL IM charges

If it still lets you send a text then you can bet you'll be charged for it - but on your TalkTalk bill. AOL and TalkTalk are now a joint company.

My battery never charges above 10% and is at 0% or close to 0 most of the time.  Desktop is always plugged in, the power supply diagnostic test passed.  Originally was plugged in to a UPS/surge protector, tried plugging directly into an outlet, does not appear to have changed anything.  The computer has shut down a few times even though it is plugged in - it does start right back up.

This started this morning... it was fine yesterday.  Basically the laptop only charges when off - based on the charge indicator near charging port. When i boot into windows charging stops and the laptop sleeps frequently as it thinks it is on battery.  If i plug the ac adapter in when the machine is on, the light on top cover blinks 2 times.  Currently at 74% so i don't think it has anything to do with the battery charging function that cycles the battery, but if it does, how do i use my machine and prevent it from sleeping without changing settings?

Answer:Thinkpad P50, only charges when off

It sounds like airplane power mode was enabled.  Did this behavior start happening after you turned on airplane wireless mode?  ThinkPad has a feature where turning on airplane wireless mode will automatically turn on airplane power mode.  And on the workstation-class systems like P50, airplane power mode has the effect of disabling the AC adapter because it cannot be restricted to less than ~45 watts like airplane power circuits require.

Anyway, try turning off airplane wireless mode (or toggle it).  If that doesn't work, open Lenovo Settings, go to the Power section, and manually disable airplane power mode there.  (I'm assuming you are on Win10.)

Hi,
About 1 year ago i bought UPS ( Discovery ), it has three outputs ( 220v - 3.6A ) and the input is 220-240v - 6A max.
Anyway, i have my PC, screen, router and surround system connected to it. AT first, when electricity goes down, the UPS used to give me around 5 mins of electricity which is more than enough to save work and turn off PC, but about 2 months ago it stopped charging for some reason, and now when electricity goes down, the UPS immediately shut down. I disconnected everything from it and let it charge for more than 48 hours but it didn't work.

What would be the problem ?

Thanx.....

Answer:UPS no longer charges

We have about 100 or more APC's here 110v and the batteries normally sound an alarm when they go bad (anywhere from 1 to 2 Years). Our server batteries last considerably longer and of course are more expensive.
Does the Discovery have that ability?
battery replacements run from $30 to 70 depending on size.

Recently my battery started to charge to only 24%.  I replaced the battery with a new battery that came fully charged.  I ran the battery down and then with it charged, it also stopped at exactly 24%.  This occurs with the computer on and off, not difference. System is a T60 running Window XP with all updates installed.

Answer:Battery only charges to 24%

Check the Thinkpad Power manager and see if the threshold setting for the battery stops it from charging past 24%. That is my only guess.

Have immediately (without looking whether it loads to 95%) formatted the SSD and Installed Windows 10 and Drivers from http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-y-series-laptops/y700-15isk?qu...I installed only the Drivers and Lenovo Utility + Lenovo System Interface Foundation (which have no interface). I also tried to install Lenovo Companion and Lenovo settings and change battery settings such as conservation mode, etc. While it change the indicator from "charging" to "not charging" and back it still does not move over 95%. Does anyone have any advice for me? Should I return it?

Hey everybody, I've been troubleshooting this Toshiba Satellite (A215-S7462) laptop last couple of days and I can't seem to solve the problem. The battery on the system for whatever reason will NOT charge while the system is on and in windows. It charges fine while the computer is off. But while on it says "plugged in, charging" yet the battery only depletes.

It was originally running windows vista, but is now running W7-64bit. I've installed all the latest drivers, bios updates, etc. I've also disassembled and cleaned out the entire laptop, and re-applied thermal paste on the CPU. (I originally thought it was a overheating issue.) I'm not too sure where to go from here so any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Answer:Toshiba charges while off, but not on

Any ideas? AC adapter? MB issue? Connectors? Battery? Windows power settings?

Question: Fraudulent charges

I recently had some fraudulant charges go through my paypal account, and am afraid I'm infected with something. I've also noticed my computer going significantly slower than usual since around the time I noticed the charges. After running DDS I was only given one DDS.txt file, and no attach.txt file. I did check the checkmark for attach before starting, and I ran the program multiple times to make sure.

Question: Connection charges

I use BT Surf Time Evenings & Week-ends and Freeserve Home time for the ISP end of the deal. Question. When I connect or try to connect during the non-free periods ie week days 0800-1800, it often takes 2, 3 or 4 attempts to make the final online connection. The dial out makes the initial connection, and the system then tries to verify the user name/password. With minimum BT charges of 5p/connection am I being charged 5p per failed attempt to verfy the user name or does nothing start the charging clock until going online? If the former applies, trying three individual connections for simple stuff like e-mail collection during the day and taking 12 attempts to get online in the process ie minmum charge of 60P/day alters the price of fish and makes all-day connection packages more attractive I have a feeling that I read an item concerning my query in an ancient edition of PC Advisor .Anyone out there with the definitive answer please? Sailor

Answer:Connection charges

Why dont you.... sign up for freeserve anytime !Its 13.00 per month and you have unlimited surfing time. I think theres a deal on now where your first month is charged at 6.00But saying that when i joined up 1st month was free, but that deal might of finished.I got sick of worrying about how long i was online on payas you go. My mum was terrified of the phone bill !

Hi all, My new Lenovo G560's battery only charges to 99%. I've seen this problem before on other laptops and "recalibrating" the battery has solved the problem. I fully discharged the battery and charged it back up with it power off and it hit 100%.  Unfortunately, while it is powered on it will never charge past 99%. I believe possibly this has something to do with the Lenovo energy management software.  Anybody else experience this? Is there a remedy?

Not sure which category this question should be in, but I've been installing my OS's for years. Someone at my former job had asked me to reinstall the OS on 2 machines one is her work PC and the other is her home PC. Both running XP Pro on Dell machines. I should've done my homework before so I knew what a reasonable price was. I already did the home PC yesterday. She asked me what I was charging and stupidly (since I didn't have any idea) said, "what do you think it's worth?". She said $60 and after about 30sec. of silence from me she followed with, "it's not like your digging ditches...". I was a bit offended by the comment - sounded like I would've made more if I just dug a hole in the ground. Granted, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to install an OS, it take some thought to install it correctly and then configure it to run smoothly and it takes a long time to install everything.

When I first booted up her PC (that she tried installing herself beforehand), there were actually 2 installations of Windows and one ended up on the D partition. Once you got into one that worked, all kinds of "missing...this and that .dll or something else message would be the first thing that appeared.
To top it off, she must've checked something incorrectly when she ordered her machine as she was running a RAID1 array. Something I don't think she would've wanted or needed.

Anyway, I wrote it off as a favor to a colleague for the time it took (9hour... Read more

Answer:Charges for OS installation?

This can only be answered very broadly. To install and configure an o/s usually takes around 2 hours (if all runs well) and I usually charge around AU$120.00 for this service. I went the route you did first time around and applied "mates rates" until I found that I, all of a sudden, acquired a lot of "mates"! Now I charge the same for everyone regardless of who they are - saves a lot of agro and the client knows what the bill will be. Don't fall for the "I can't afford it" line - if they really can't afford it then they don't get the job done. Most can (at my rates anyway) and will fork out the $$$$'s to get their machine back in running order.

In your case, if a client made comments like "it's not like your digging ditches..." then the price would rise by 50%! People don't take into account that whilst you are waiting for the software to install (and maybe having coffee while it does) it's YOUR time you're using up and, as such, should be billed to the client. The installer may well be doing the work but you MUST be there while it does.

I found that it was worth educating the clients that every time they called you out or came to you with a problem they would be charged for the time, at a minimum rate like AU$50.00, even if the "repair" is something as simple as the speakers plugged into the wrong jack and takes you 30 seconds to fix - you still had to (possibly) travel to the client and diagnose the problem. They, in t... Read more

Has anyone taken on BT yet about their charges for broadband. I was forced to switch to BT when I moved and signed up for the 10 GB per month deal. I read the info and it said that I would be charged if I exceeded the limit. No problem. But when I did exceed the limit by about 1GB I was charged 5. All the blurb says that excess is charged at 5 per 5GB of extra downloads.
I now realise that the extra charge will kick in if I exceed the limit by just ONE BYTE! How unfair is that? I don't mind paying for what I have had but paying for something that I haven't had really annoys.
What do you think - should I cry on BTs shoulder or go strait to OFCOM/
I look forward to your views - thanks

Answer:BT broadband charges

This appears to be an industry standard trick. My ISP charged me the 5 for 300MB of data, they did refund 4 on the next bill when I complained but I found it cheaper to upgrade my broadband package, I am with Plusnet.

Question: Beware HP charges

Yesterday I emailed HP regarding my printer A Photosmart D7360 which has not had a lot of use. It has only had two of the colour cartridges replaced from new and the black has not even shown and drop in ink yet, but is over 12 month old now. I asked about the hinge at the left hand side of the cover lid, this broke and the lid is now only hung by the hinge on the right so the lid needs to be supported at the left by a helping hand as without the help of this hinge the lid flaps around and can't support its self while changing a cartridge, and may well cause the other hinge to go as well.Their reply was to direct me to a part of their site that deals with out of warantee items and they report that they make a standard charge for any work needed to be carried out on this type of printer. The charge is....102 + Vat which is 117.30. The printer would be replaced with a reconditioned unit and only a warantee of 3 month.I will let you all guess at the reply I sent them, after all the printer ONLY COST 89 NEW from AmazonYour thoughts on weather you think this is reasonable, and if it could be classed as good customer service or support will be welcome. Thanks Migwell

Answer:Beware HP charges

I'm the first to criticise poor customer service but in this case I don't know what you expected them to do.If the hinge was broken from the off you should have done something sooner; if you broke it then why do you think they should bear the cost of repair?

Hi,

I have been running my laptop off the charger for a few months now (the laptop does hold some charge when running off the battery, but only 30 mins tops before the battery is empty - need a new one).

Today I turned the laptop on with the charger plugged in but the laptop wasn't charging and running off the battery. On the original charger, it neither charges (light comes on) when its off or on.

So I bought a new charger but again the laptop doesn't charge when on. When the laptops off with the new charger plugged in the port lights up (I'm assuming its charging) but when I turn the laptop on, the light goes off and the laptop runs off the battery.

Is this because the battery is knackered and needs a new one? Or could this be something else?

Thanks for any help.

Answer:Laptop charges when off but not when on

Yeah it sounds like you may need a new battery. My brother just had a similar problem with his laptop. It would not charge at all when on or off. They switched out the charger, that didn't work. Then they switched the connector that was in the laptop, that didn't work. Turns out it was the battery, doh!

My Dell XPS battery charges only to 99%. Technical support said this is a "normal" occurrence if you have "adaptive" charging on in the BIOS. They asked me to update the BIOS and then change it to "custom" charging. The battery now charges to 100%.
Is this normal behaviour or just a messy "fix"? I just want to confirm if this is a papered over fault, because I suspect that it is. Personally I am not too pleased with having to call Dell technical support on the day I opened my new laptop!

I recently had Lenovo tech come out to repair my under warranty X61s.  He replaced the motherboard and a few other cosmetic things. "Ever Since"  (I know I hate that line but in this case it's true) the repair, my notebook only charges to 85%.  I can plug it in for 48 hours and it simply does not go to 100% - like it used to.   I called the Lenovo tech who told me that my battery should be replaced and here's some good news -> Warranty does not cover the battery after the first year.  So I purchased a brand new battery. The new 200+ $ 9 cell battery only charges to 89%!  Lenovo Yer killin me. What I have tried to far - unsuccessfully:1.  Battery gauge reset2.  updated the drivers thru the Thinkvantage System Update ver.33.  New battery!4.  Borrowed another charger from a friend's thinkpad X61 tablet Other than the battery charge thing, the notebook?s cool.  Is anyone else having this problem or should I just change my name to Lucky? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you've tried everything i would have suggested that you try..
it begins to look like the tech did something or the part was defective..
it looks like it is time to have the tech return..

Hello,

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad G510, and when I bought it came with a software called Energy Manager, which allowed me to use an option that limited the charging percentage to 60 in order to extend battery life.
Now, after the Windows 10 update, the software is gone and instead I get a software called "Power Manager", which does not have this option, so I am stuck with battery at 60%.

Does anyone know what should I do ?

Thanks

Answer:Laptop charges only up to 60%

If I remember correctly, the name change to conservative mode or something.
If not, can you post the screenshot?

I recently purchased a Latitude e6430u and noticed that the charging percentage never increased above 71%.  I assumed that I needed a new battery so a bought both a new battery and charger, just to make sure I covered all bases.  The new battery never charges past 24% so I re-installed Windows 7 Pro and updated all of the drivers from the Dell web site, very nice driver update system you have, by the way.  The update also include new BIOs, very nice.  None of this had any affect on the problem.  When I first power up the computer, the battery icon on the screen indicates that I am plugged in and charging and the image of the battery shows advancing bars for about 45 seconds and then they freeze.  I'm beginning to suspect a hardware problem.  Any ideas?

Dave
