Preferred Solution: which program i should use to fill an application form?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I want to fill out an employment application, which is provided at the employer's web site in PDF form, which opens with Adobe. It feels like I should be able to type in the info. A cursor blinks on the line, but nothing happens when I try to type in the info. I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious.
I could print out the form then fill it in by hand, but like I say, it feels like I should be able to type it in for a much neater appearance.
Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated.

When you say "confounding" do you mean confusing, overly complicated or what? Maybe consider the advice given in your identical thread in General Software, perhaps take a look at the Google tool bar......

I think what I am looking for would be considered a macro?

What I need to do is:

1) An email comes in to outlook with data that is always formatted the same way. (ie Name: <name> Email: <email> etc)

2) I need to be able to easily parse this information, and have it entered into a form on our website.

These are sample requests that are sent through a form on our site. The site we enter the requests into is actually a different site so we don't database them or anything. Currently we copy / paste all the info line for line into the form and submit it. This gets very time consuming.

A friend is doing something similar but he has a Mac and is using something called AppleScript. I am on a PC and really don't even know where to begin.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly ANY help you may be able to provide!

Is there anyway to do this?

Question: Fill in PDF form

I am not sure this is possible, but I thought I would try it here. I have a form in Word, I can convert to a PDF. I need to send it to lots of people via email and a large facebook group. They need to fill in information on the PDF and email it back to me. I am not sure they can do that in Adobe reader. I know they all don't have Microsoft Word.

Any ideas on how to get this done? I thought about posting the form and having them print it and mail it, but trying to make it easy on them and quick for me to get the forms back.

Thanks.

Question: Batch Form Fill

I am trying to make a batch file that will eventually bring up a custom made program, I could have sworn there was a way to auto populate the forms. As in

Program wants to know where to search (path) and what to search for

I want to know if/how to fill in those 2 fields with a path (C:/etc/etc) and what I want to search for.

Is this possible?

Answer:Batch Form Fill

If your program supports command line parameters you can load it with Batch and supply those options. If you're programming the software yourself, you should be able to make this happen.

However batch basically just doesn't do scripting that requires a user interface, including pressing buttons or typing in a text box. There are some scripting systems that do a better job of this. Autoit and autohotkey are commonly recommended examples here, though I haven't used either myself.

We use acrobat to create fillable forms. There has always been one problem, we have never been able to save the form with all the fields filled in. If you click on "File/Save" or "File/Save as" a blank form is saved.

We would also like to have an e-mail link that would send the completed PDF. Instead another box comes up and forces you to save the data and sent that as an attachment. Most of our users are technical enough to figure out how to import the data. Or, they are too busy and just want to see a completed form.

I read something about a "rights-enabled PDF Document" - however, I can't figure out how to get a document set up to be "rights-enabled". Any suggestions?

Answer:Saving a fill-able form in PDF

No. I don't think Adobe allows it. Period. Use Word forms or online web forms. Sorry.

Can I fill in a form by converting it to PDF?This is not about sailing in an online form online. Instead, it is about downloading and filling in a form I got off-line. This form is not to be submitted through website, but rather it is to be delivered in person or by mail. So I want to get the form off of a website, convert it to a PDF, and then fill in the forms on screen and then printe again as a completed filled in the form that I can mail to the proper agency. Now, then, I have never done this. Am I going about this the wrong way? Is it practical to get a form and then converted to PDF and then fill in the form using the PDF editor? Any suggestions welcome.

Answer:Can I fill in a form by converting it to PDF?

Why not convert it to PDF...make a few of them without printing...fill it in on the PC and then print it.Use the extras for spell-check errors.

Hi! I'm trying to fill in forms at irs.gov. I can fill them out just fine, but when I go to print, it prints a blank form without any of the info that I have filled in. I filled out one of the forms at work and it printed just fine. Why can't I get this to work at home. I can't do our tax returns at work. Please help me. Need to get our returns done.

Also, there are several sites at irs.gov where you can provide your information and they will prepare your return. How secure is this?
I have prepared our returns and know which forms to use etc., but it would be nice to have it prepared by one of these services to double check my calculations. I am just a little leary of putting this information out there. Am I being paranoid?

Hi there,
I'm looking for some help (actually a lot) in form letters auto fill in word, here is what I need to achieve.

I have a standard letter that I send out, It's not a mailing list but rather a lot of clients most one off's.
I have seen macros where when loading a document, pop-up windows comes up and asks for details (name, address, or whatever) when the steps are finished it would load the standard letter template, fill in the blanks with the details entered in the pop-up screens and be ready to be printed or e-mailed.
Is there a tutorial somewhere that cover this or if someone could help I would really appreciate.

( Using Word 2007 )

Thanks

Answer:Help with form auto fill

Just google "Microsoft Word Form Fields" and you should get plenty of hits. Here is a VBA solution that I provided to someone previously in the forums that sounds like it is similar to what you want. Take a look and see if this is similar to what you want and I can modify the code to suit your needs.

http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/635671-solved-how-do-you-do-2.html

You may also want to search the net for how to do a mail merge since this sounds similar to what you want as well.

If it is a fillable Acrobat form I don't believe YOU will have any control over the output. The person that made the form only has control over font and color. You could try emailing the completed form to yourself.

First of all, I'm a beginner in VB.Net 2003.

What I want to do is fill in the fields of an external website with data from a local database. A bit like Roboform or the "autofill" in Google toolbar, but linked to a database.

I have written the search and record retrieval part so upon entering a reference number, the relevent details come up. I now need to get these details into the relevent fields on the external website.

This is a completely external website, over which I have no control but I do need to fill in the form over 100 times a week.

Could anyone point me in the right direction here?
Many thanks.

O...Kay! I need help with a now, 4 year old Access database. Many thanks to OBP, I have cleaned up and worked out kinks that really has made keeping up with parent involvement in the schools much easier. Now that I have worked with the database, I am in need of some advice regarding a form that is needed now. This is a form that is used to enter just basic demographic information on a parent who calls to sign-up to be notified of special events.

The form is simple, but this is where I cannot quite make it work. The unique identifier of the record is the school's location code number. I have tried to find out how to fabricate the form so that when this location code is entered, the associated fields (school name, type, and region) will auto fill in. I'm sure that this may seem trivial to the experts, but I am once again STUMPED. Many thanks in advance for any assistance that I may be given.

Hello:

Besides the lease, there are multiple forms that we fill out and have the tenant sign. Most of these forms use the same information such as tenant name, birthdate, property address, etc. Rather than typing the same information multiple times, i am envisioning a form into which i will enter all of the information, and will then take that information that i entered, and populate each of the forms. Can someone here educate me on how to accomplish that? Thanks in advance.

I have a standard form that must be filled out & mailed for each patient in order for me to get reimbursed. I have scanned the form to a jpg format & would like to be able to "fill in the blanks" with Word 2007, print out the completed form & retain a copy on my PC for each patient. Can that be done? This would save me a lot of trouble.
Any help appreciated.

Answer:Word 2007 how do I fill in & print a form?

Hi Ron,
It can't be done if you've scanned it as just a picture, but if you're able to scan it with optical character recognition (OCR) then you might be able to copy it into Word or edit the jpg itself. You can download IrfanView, which is a free graphics program and it has an OCR plugin. But if the form is not very long or very complicated, you'll probably have better luck just recreating it in Word. OCR can be unreliable depending on the quality of the scan and you may do just as much work cleaning it up as you would retyping it. And of course the best option would be if you could contact the form originator and get it electronically. They may already have it in Word which would save a ton of time. Hope that helps.

Hi,

I'm creating a questionnaire form in Word 2010 with about 5 or 6 fields. Using the developer tab I have been able to set all of these up fine and its working however I would like one field to be automatically populated with the date of that particular day.

Currently the date field uses the date form option so you are given a drop down calender to choose the date or the option of selecting 'Today'. I would like this field to automatically show the 'today' date and then give the option of changing it if necessary.

Is this possible?

Thanks

I use Netscape Navigator (8.0.4) and I can't stand the auto fill feature--actually I am not even sure if that's what it's called. But, for instance, when I type a search on Google, the search bar pops down with the billions of search phrases that I've typed before. This is annoying to me, and I'd prefer that nothing happens from typing in a form field.

I've hunted around in the Option menu way too many times, but I have never found a way to turn that feature off. Obviously I am missing it somewhere. Any help? Thanks.

Hi.

I have a form set up in a table and I would like to have the text fit into the cell and not go below the cell. I have set the maximum length of the field but this does not really work for me. I have set the row to an exact height so it does not expand. It does not limit the number returns. So, you can hit the return key the text disappears in the cell (goes beyond the length of the cell)

Setting the maximum length does not allow be to fill the cell completely. If you type all caps the maximum length maybe 100. If set to this then all lower case letters will only fill half the cell.

Is there a way to only allow the user to type in the fixed sized table cell and fill it up completely without the text disappearing beyond the border of the table cell using VBA or some function in Word?

Answer:Word Form - text to fill in table cell (VBA)

I'd go for the simple approach - set the font of the field to Courier or another mono-spaced font. That way, all characters take up the same amount of space.

I am new to this forum and not sure if this had already been answered. But here it goes anyway.

I would like to create a vacation form that users can use to fill their vacation requests. This form will have approve or reject buttons. If approved, the data would be auto populated onto an excel spreadhseet. If rejected, the rejection email will be sent back to the user.

Can someone show me how to do this.

Many Thanks for all your help in advance.

Regards,

Rashid

In Office XP, I need to make a template or form or something (unsure of correct MS term) to enter client data, name address b-day etc. Then, whenever they come in, want to take that saved data and have it entered to a preprinted, normally hand filled , company form. The company form is 2 page carbonless copy so a dot matrix printer will have to be resurrected to print the data to the form. New dates are all that would be new info. All data is presented horizontally except a few items that are on right edge at 90 degrees to normal portrait orientation. Word? Excel? I have a copy of Office XP for Dummies but can't find what I need. I don't have a MS Office book. Software came as disk only. I probably would have an easier time if I new the correct terminology.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Steve

Answer:In OFFICEXP How do I Enter Data Base and Have it fill a Pre Printed Form?

Steve, it seems to me that the easiest way to accomplish this would be using Acess (assuming that you have the Pro version of Office XP -- the Standard version lacks this program.)

With Access, you can create a database containing all of the fields of raw information that you need to enter, an onscreen form for data entry that closely resembles the preprinted form needing to be filled in, and a printed report format that duplicates the layout of the preprinted form (or could possibly be used to actually print the data in the corresponding locations of the actual preprinted form.) Access also allows you to share the information you create with Word or Excel if needed. All of the data tables, reports, and data entry forms are objects that are contained in the Access file itself.

Lacking Access, Excel could be used to hold the data (spreadsheet programs are often used as database programs), but you would not have the same flexibility as a dedicated database program like Access provides. There is a great deal of info in the Office XP program help files -- the hard part is just in sifting through to find the information that really applies to you. Picking up an Access 2002 (or Excel 2002) for Dummies would give you more detailed information than the general Office XP book would -- I bought Access 97 for Dummies years ago and still refer to it often.

I am having trouble with end users using my fillable form I created in Adobe. I work for a school and we need to put this fillable pdf application on our website for people to open, fill out, save and email back to us. But I need to be sure it'll work before we put it online...

How I made the PDF Fillable Form:

1. Created a form in Word
2. Saved it as a pdf
3. In Adobe 8 Professional, used Create Form wizard to make a form from the existing word doc
4. Still in Adobe Acrobat 8 Profressional, I went to "advanced" and "Enable User Rights in Adobe Reader" to allow users who only have the free Acrobat Reader programs to fill in and save the form. Then saved it.

Problem:

1. In trying to test the document, I opened it on my computer (but using Adobe Reader 9, not the Acrobat) and also tried on my home computer, which has Adobe Reader 7. Both times I got messages saying "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The doc has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document." (The irony is it's telling me to contact me!)

2. I sent it to another user who has Adobe Reader 9 and he was able to open it, type in it, save it, and email it back to me (ie it worked!)

3. I sent it to another user who has Adobe Reader 9 and she could open it and it looked like she could type in it, but in fact she couldn't. No error message was received.

Question: Zero fill program

I am getting ready to install XP on my sisters computer that currently is running ME. I have heard that it is best to "Zero" a hard drive and then format with with the XP disc during install.

1- Is this correct information?
2- Where can I get a "Zero" fill program?
3- Why is this prefered?

Andy

Answer:Zero fill program

Zeroing a hard drive is what some people call doing a low level format - even though a true LLF can't be easily done outside a factory environment. It basically sets all of the data on the hard drive to 0's, hence the name. A zero can be done, but the XP partition/format util seems to do the job just fine for me.

To zero the drive properly, you will need to download the util off the website of your hard disk's manufacturer. DO NOT try to use one which is not designed for your hard-drive, as this may cause your hard-drive to become inoperable.

Some people like to do this as it completely wipes the hard drive of information, making it like it has just come from the factory floor.

Personally, I'd just go with the XP format, it works perfectly well.

Hello,

I had such good luck with my 'really needy' issue that I want to put my toe in the pond, so to speak and pick your brains....

I'd like some recommendations for:

1. Password / fill form program
and a
2. File Sync program

I was using Norton Password Manager but when I got an awful, deadly blue screen - I deleted all Norton products.

I'm now trying out RoboForm and Good Sync and am quite happy with these programs but thought I would ask the question before I purchase.

Thanks!

Question: Auto-Fill program

I'm looking for a good program that I can add-on to Firefox, Chrome and IE8 which will populate information fields for me automatically with one master set of information.... if that made sense. Basically I want a program which will auto fill forms based off of the information I pre-entered into the master program. For example, when I sign up for something or when I need to enter my ship to address when I purchase something etc... I'd like to click a button and it will auto fill all my info for me so I don't have to type it in each time.

Hopefully that made sense. Thanks for the help.

Hiya,Yes, I know, what mug is still using DOS programs?!Well the program I use is very specialised & very good & used daily. However, I can't run the program in a full sized window in either W2K or XP like I can in 98SE. I've tried matching as best I can all the settings in the properties tab for the program's .exe file that are set in 98SE, but the program, whilst fully displayed, only runs in the top half of my screen's display. I now need to upgrade the machine I run it on & ditch 98SE.Any ideas how I can get it to display "normally"?Cheers.

Answer:DOS program won't fill the screen in W2K or XP

Dual boot with 98se, Change the drive thats in for a new drive Load 98se on it, then remove it. after you put the old drive back connect 98se drive as slave then use a Dual Boot Manager to choose which you want to run at boot. Thats how I do it with 98se and XP home

Does anyone have any suggestions.

I have a piece of software, that monitors the temperatures, and the fan speeds, of various components inside my case, and it has an application window (the only 'form' of the application) that has graphics, to display the data. Its this window, which I would like to somehow, appear below my icons on the desktop, and become the background 'image' for my monitor.I would rather not have to program something, if there is some way of doing it, that already exists. But if someone can suggest tips on a way that I could program it, I welcome them.

Answer:Using the form of an application, as XP background

I can't think of any way that you can set it as an active background, but you could drag a shortcut to the program into your start folder so that it starts when your PC boots up. All other programs opened will sit on top of that one, but it will still be there and running for you to view as and when required.

Hi,Really stuck here and looking for some help.I have an excel sheet that I want to use to record the times people work a shift at work. The sheet is set up as follows. D3 has the workers name that I manually type in.E3 has a drop down list of times of the day at half hour intervals (08:00, 08:30, 09:00 and so on up to 17:00). This is to represent the start time.F3 is the exact same as E3. This is being used to represent the end time.Underneath those cells on row 5 I have the timeline across the page. A5 has 08:00. B5 has 08:30. C5 has 09:00 and so on again up to 17:00.On row 6 directly underneath the times I have the conditional formatting currently set up so that when a start and end time are selected up the top the cell in row 6 under the chosen times turn green. Here's the tricky part. How do I get the cells (in row 6) between the chosen times to also turn green so that basically if I select 08:00 start and 16:00 finish I have a line of green cells representing the shift?Hope that makes sense? Help anyone?

Answer:Excel help - changing cell fill based on another cells fill?

I reread the original post, and I think my first answer was incorrect, as it applies to Row 5. In the original post Row 6 was specified as the target row.If it is Row 6, which is a Blank Row with no data on it, then this should work:1) Select your cell or range of cells, IE A5:S5 A6:S62) On the ribbon click Conditional Formatting3) Click on New Rules, it?s near the bottom of the dialog box.4) Click Use Formula to determine which cells to format.5) Enter the formula: =AND(A$5>=$E$3,A$5<=$F$3)6) Click on the Format button7) Select the Fill Tab8) Select a pretty color9) Click OK10) Click OKEDIT: Put the wrong row number.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/message edited by mmcconaghy

I have created an on-line form in an Office application to gather survey data, and need to link it to an Access database. What is the easiest way to do this? I have been emailed a job application form which I need to get back to the employer ASAP. But I don't have a printer. Filling in lines and text boxes is not a problem but there are the usual page of (non)equal opportunitites c**p to fill, with a hoard of tick boxes.

I think the form designer has used emtpty square symbol from Wingdings or something similar - I don't think they are bullets because of their position on paper.

The only option I can think of is to create a right size square in image editing program and draw X into it, but it is harldly desirable, not just because it is usually still obvious and in tight spaces tends to knock other things out of alingnment (I'm not applying a job in IT or office rat, my skills in word are nowhere nearly that good).

Obviously it would be preferable to find a solution that would work with all forms with same scenario. Oh, and I have opened the document in Word 2000.

- - -
Last time I filled in an emailed form, it turned out they were, forgot the name so please enlighten me, editable yes/no boxes (although just looking at them you wouldn't know it.) Not elegant solution but I found one that worked, even if it was a bit tedious.

(In case someone else comes looking for similar solution, this is how I did it, if I remeber it right: highlight, left click and a dialogue box will appear: choose ticked as the default option and close. You should now see the box ticked, usually with X )

Answer:Help! Filling a job application form (again): editing tick boxes in Word

Correction to my comment about the editable yes/no boxes (control boxes?)

On PAPER there is no difference but on COMPUTER you can see them with a grey background. To edit the tick box I do the following:

1) highlight, 2) left click and choose Properties 3) choose Default Value as "Checked" 4) click OK

I am taking a problem that I thought to be malware to this forum as advised by Chaslang, who didn't see any malware in any of my logs.

http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=225108&goto=newpost

Something else to add, there are various sites that do not allow me to access them when trying to update programs as well, including The website needed to update java, windows, and steam. I am seriously considering reinstalling Windows at this point, but I am not entirely certain it would solve my problem. I am connected to a router, and my internet connection appears to be working fine other than the problems I mentioned and the windows sidebar apps in question are still not updating, and stuck on the day they stopped working. My wife's laptop is connected to a router as well, and she does not appear to be having the same problems.

Hi there,
The following security updates from Microsoft on Windows 8.1 OS are causing freezing issues with our application (pop-ups/ modal dialogs). The application is a .NET 3.5 Windows forms application.
KB Fix - 3168965

KB Fix - 3153199
KB Fix - 3161664

We found that the issue is caused by the security update for kernel mode drivers that are updating the following file - Win32k.sys - Any update to this file on or after May 10, 2016 through Windows Automatic update is causing the problem.

Our clients do not agree to turn off the automatic windows updates.
Is it possible to setup a GPO to change the Windows Update settings for all PCs in the domain to stop all the new updates to the file Win32k.sys?

Is Microsoft aware of this issue & is there a plan to provide a resolution to this issue in terms of a future KB fix?

Thanks & Regards,
Vennila
