Question: installation Of Windows Xp from pendrive

How to install windows xp from a pendrive??

Relevance 100%
Preferred Solution: installation Of Windows Xp from pendrive

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Friends (i) I wan to disable new software installation in my system as i will be at office in weekdays at home in my system many of my cousins install/uninstall many software now and then i want this to be avoided please provide me solution for this i googled it but dint found required answer.(ii) They frequently keep many infected pendrives in my system i want to avoid this by disabling usb ports, cd drive how can i do this.(iii)I want to create a separate account for them where they will have limited number of accessHow can i achieve the above tasks.Does anyone know where i can found educational videos for Oracle 10g, C, java ?

Answer:Disable software installation, disable pendrive detection, Educational videos

Friends i have got answer for few questionsAns 1) you can just simply disable the "windows installer service". Just go to run and type "msconfig" and under the services tab find and uncheck the service. It works for all versions of windows.Ans 2 ) For problem number two go here(for USB drive)->http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-disable-usb-ports-to-prevent-malware-infection/For Cd driveStart > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives >Right click on each drives & disable.

Recently I downloaded Windows 7 SP1 x32/x64 ISO and I want to make bootabale pendrive. The whole file size is 3.8GB on disk and can't fit in my 4GB pendrive which is actually just around 3.6GB in capacity. I need around 123MB more free space. Is there any file that I can remove from Windows 7 installation like unimportant updates that I can download it later?

Answer:How to fit in Windows 7 SP1 into bootable 4GB pendrive

Honestly, you'd spend less time and have less aggravation if you just bought a bigger flash drive. The only way to remove files that you consider unnecessary is to use a tool like nLite.

Hi!

I've just upgraded my Sony Vaio from Vista to Windows 7 32 bit.

I've done all upgrades form Microsoft and from the Sony site.

The problem is that the OS crashes when I plug an USB pendrive, but not always.
Blue screen that indicates that I may upgrade the BIOS (but I've already done it).

It seems that this happens when I have an explore 8.0 windows opened, but I'm not so sure about this.

Any ideas?
Drvers problem? (but It's only an USB pendrive!)
Any Microsoft upgrades that make conflicts?

Thanks

Hi,

I don't really know if my post is in the right forum section, but here is the idea.
Since I installed windows 7 on my new laptop, a MSI Ex625, I encountered some problems.

- I have some buttons, one of them is used to choose the alimentation mode of the laptop. An other button used to put my laptop on the "cinema pro" mode which activates my subwoofer and improves the video quality.

- I can't install Quicktime anymore and use iTunes (but it is another problem).

So, I contacted the MSI support and they told me to install the drivers for my laptop from their original website. That operation done, nothing changed. So they asked me to make an upgrade of my BIOS.

The fact is that I never performed that before and I am still looking on how to boot from a pen drive in order to install the new version of the bios. Would anyone know how to make a bootable pendrive for win 7?

Any help is welcome.
Thank you for watching

Actually my laptop's cd drive is not working, and i want to install the os through pendrive.I followed the procedure in the link below.,www.techtipsgeek.com/install-windows-from-usb-flash-pen-drive/559/Everything, upto making my 2gb pendrive bootable worked well. But when I was rebooting the laptop in txt mode for os installation, it isdisplaying only one partion (that too the pendrive as a partion) . No hard diskpartitions were displaying.Since i was left with no options, i selected to install on pendrive itself. Obviouslyit couldnt format it or repartition the free space in it, since it contains the installation files. My previous os was xp (but preloaded with win7). Now i was left with no os onthe laptop. My cd drive was damaged so i can not use any cd?s.Please suggest me what to do..Thanks in advance.

I have one Sandisk USB 2 OTG pendrive which can work on mobile and PC/Laptop. When I plug into the port the message pops up as sd/mmc card.
I have recently burned on it one iso with Rufus 2.4 with multi bootable OS of 7, 8.1 and 10 bootable. I have enabled usb as the first bootable device into bios but it does not boot on my laptop. The message that i got is "efi usb device (generic sd/mmc) has been blocked by the current security policy".I have burned the usb using GPT as partitioning scheme with Uefi enabled. Hence security should not have been the cause.
Could it be that the usb device is sd/mmc and not actual pendrive. I have purchased it as USB OTG pendrive from amazon. Capacity is 16 gb.
Could it be possible that because od SD/MMC drive -it does not support booting.
Please advice me what is wrong with my device or anything else.
Ashok

Answer:Pendrive does not boot on my Lenovo Laptop with windows 10

It probably is because the OTG drive is being recognized as SD/MMC - most computers will not boot from SD/MMC. I would use a regular USB flash drive.

Since upgrading to Windows 10 I can't open html files stored on an external pendrive. The files are the originals of a website. Other sorts of files don't seem to be affected
The online versions of the web pages work fine, and copies made from the pendrive to my hard drive will open fine too.
But if I click on the originals on the pendrive I just get a blank browser window (Edge) or my usual homepage (Chrome).
I've tested this with two different pendrives to see if the pendrive could have developed a fault, but with the same result, no webpage, just a blank browser window or my usual homepage.
I've tested the pendrives on a non-windows 10 computer, on which they work fine - clicking the icon opens the file in my usual browser.
Is there something obvious I'm missing? Any suggestions welcome!

I have a pendrive partitioned in two, which I did on my Mac in Disk Utility. The first partition is a linux bootable install pen formatted to FAT, the second is a data partition, also FAT. Interesting OS situation, I know.

Under Linux or Mac OS X this set-up works perfectly, however in Windows (every version) it will only read the first partition, which is no good seeing as unless I'm rebooting into it I don't need it.

The format has to be FAT as Mac OS X doesn't support NTFS without 3rd party add-on's and Windows can't read HFS (and I don't think EXT) by default. I need to change something on the drive as most of the Windows machines I use aren't mine to install stuff on.

I think the problem could most probably be solved by changing the partition order but I don't really want to do this since I have no idea if the Linux installer will boot if it isn't on the primary partition. Is there anything else I can do to make windows recognise the second partition, instead of or in addition to the first?

Thank you in advance.

Answer:Windows doesn't recognise partitioned pendrive

Run disk check

Vista will not read flash drives using FAT

Hi Guys
I'm running Windows 7, and I want to move stuff from my Pendrive over to my desktop but Windows 7 is moaning that some of the folder names are too long, yet I never had this issue in XP.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks
Rob

Answer:Move Data from Pendrive To Desktop Path To Long Windows 7

Windows 7 supports up to 244 characters total folders path file name. more info ClickHere
It may be that you are trying to move files to another folder path that then takes the total over the limit. example C:\Users\user name\Documents\ takes up 29 before you even start.

Hello,
I was trying to install windows XP home edition in my custom build desktop. Every time I tried to format my hard drive and install windows its coming back with not copying so many files from windows setup. Sometimes its copying the files when I pressed enter but sometimes I had to press esc to skip the file. I tried reformatting and every time it ended up in not copying some different files. These are the steps I have done so far
1) I replaced my optical drive with a brand new cd drive to make sure its reading the disc properly
2) I checked hard disk in BIOS hard drive test and its came back with no errors in it
3) I tried with 3 different windows installation disc to eliminate errors due to scratches on cd surface.

Could anybody please tell me what else I can do to complete my installation properly. Thanks in advance

Hi Guys,

I have a problem installing Windows Vista. The installation process works fine until after the 1st reboot that goes to "completing installation". It completely freezes at that point and after 1 hour or so goes to a black screen where i can see nothing but my mouse pointer.

I just got my laptop 2 days ago and it's brand new Vista compatible. In fact it came with Vista installed and it was working perfectly fine until I decided to reformat it so that I could check if my new hd i tried installing was the main reason for this installation failure.

I saw a post with similar problems explaining that the BIOS was in need to be updated, but my BIOS is up to date and vista compatible.

My laptop specs are as follows:

Inspiron 1720, Intel Core 2 Duo T7500, 2.2GHz, 800Mhz, 4M L2 Cache
2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600
17.0 inch Wide Screen UXGA+ TLLCD
Integrated 10/100 Network Cardand Modem,
8X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy
Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini Card
Can someone please help me out! Thanks.

Hello. I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this topic but I think it is.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows 7. Recently I made the decision to restore my system to "out-of-the-factory" settings using the Toshiba program that came with the computer to do this. This went well.

when this was done, the computer restarted, and after the normal start-up screen, it began installing windows.

About halfway through this process, my brother decided it would be funny to turn off the computer in the middle of the installation.

when I turned the computer back on, it went to the windows installation again, but very soon an error message came up saying

"the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."

However, after pressing OK, the computer restarts, but the same error message comes up, leaving me in a loop.

So is there anything I can do to fix this? Or does my brother owe me a new computer?

Btw I don't care about losing data, I have everythign backed-up on an external hard drive.

Answer:"Computer restarted unexpectedly....windows installation cannot proceed" installation loop.

I think you need to reformat C: (delete the partition) and (redo partition) using ntfs drive and restart the installation. Do you have a OS Windows Disk?

The problem occurs after Windows 10 installs the latest Windows 10 updates.  The first occurrence of difficulty produced deletion of all the Office applications from their respective directories.  The second occurrence produced a transition from
"activated" to "not activated' in Office.  Many, many numbers had to be read over the phone to Microsoft to regain "activated" status.  This won't do.

I am trying to install Windows 7 on my laptop. When I click on "upgrade" it takes me to a compatibility report that says "the computer started using the windows installation disc. Remove the installation disc and restart your computer so that windows starts normally." When I remove the disc and try to restart the computer, it takes me to a black screen with a bunch of computer gibberish on it and says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". In other words, I am getting a message from windows 7 telling me to reboot my computer without the windows 7 disc, but the computer WILL NOT reboot without the disc. When I click on "custom (advanced)" instead of "upgrade", it takes me to a page that says "where do you want to install windows?" with a blank box and a message at the bottom that says "no drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation"
I have tried everything in my capacity as someone who sucks with computers and need help from someone who doesn't. Thanks for the help.

Hi, all. I'm in the middle of installing Windows 7 Pro x64, but it's giving me the message "Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unstable Windows installation". This occurs after I click "Load Driver" and select my Rapid Storage Tech driver from my USB stick.

This is the driver I'm trying to install: Lenovo Support - Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver Windows 7 (64-bit), Vista (64-bit) and XP (64-bit) - ThinkPad

I've even tried rebuilding my Windows 7 image in RT Seven Lite with the "Force Unsigned driver integration" checkbox checked. I still get the message after burning that ISO, and retrying the installation. How do I force unsigned driver installation?

Nevermind, I just let the install finish as normal, and I haven't gotten any bluescreens. For future thread visitors, just make sure your SATA mode in the BIOS is set to "AHCI", and not "Compatibility", and you should be fine.

Then for some reason the installation got corrupted (I think in my haste I restarted the comp while it was installing a million updates). First of all I got the bootmgr missing error when trying to install from the disk so I created a bootable usb pen and everything seemed to be going fine, however when the system reboots it hangs on completing Installation and after 5 mins or so I get the BSoD (restarts too quick of me to read) and the comp restarts. Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You could try booting into Safe Mode (F8 on startup) where you can choose to force unsigned driver installs in Windows 64-bit.

I think you can also do it by changing Group Policy parameters: Disable Driver Signing in Windows 7

Dear Friends
This issue may be repeated, and may occur to any of us
I have a USB flash drive, of 8GB
it worked fine for months,
but unfortunately, it is not working any more!
If inserted, the computer recognizes it as a flash drive, and places it in the "Safely Remove Hardware",
but if we tried to open it, it says "Insert disk in drive..."
I saw it's properties it says: Rmovable disk>>> Size 0MB !!!
where the media gone?
I tried to format it says "no disk in drive..."
I tried to fix using HP recovery, and other utilities, but it insists on, "No disk in drive"

Is there is something to do?
Please help...

Answer:USB pendrive 8GB=0MB

This can happen when the drive is not removed properly.
Plug in the drive, then go to "my computer".
Right click the drive and click eject.
Remove the drive and restart the computer.
Try the drive again.

This is not recommended, not practical, and I don't think it's possible. USB Storage Devices store memory as Flash memory, which is different than the type of memory used in your RAM. They are accessed differently and have different characteristics. The main difference is that the Flash Drive retains its memory when the power is turned off, whereas the RAM is completely erased when you turn off the power. Also, if you manage to get the USB Drive working as RAM, it would be like driving a car without circular wheels. It is just too slow to be used as RAM.Can you not purchase any more RAM? It doesn't come too expensive.

Question: pendrive's

HI,I was reading an article the other day about a chap who had spybot and other spyware software on his usb pendrive, and not on his pc i was wondering if it wasn't installed on any pc how was he running the spybot etc, on any machine to check for errors spyware without it being installed on the pc it was just on his pendrive.Puzzles me or is it me? help. Thanks daiol.

Answer:pendrive's

I think he probably had the installer executables on the pen drive. Then he could go to any PC with a USB port and install the program without having to download (especially if the internet connection wasn't working).I've done a similar thing with a collection of anti-malware and diagnostic programs burned to a CD.

dear

i want to play movies on my LG lcd TV through Pen Drive.

plz guide me or give me software for that

thanking u

Answer:use pendrive on lcd

Hi,

Have you checked your tv manufacturer's website to see if your tv can play movies from just a usb flash drive as most lcd tv's don't do that if this is what you mean. The usb slot on a TV is there mainly for updates for itself, although having said that there is a few that will let you play a slideshow of pictures from it.

Have a look online at LG's website typing in your tv's make model/serial number, it will definitely tell you.

hi i have a 4gb usb pendrive ,i want to keep all my photoes on,(about 2.5gb ) in total i have loaded all of them from my h/d onto the pendrive, but i can only view 1 gb,all the otherscome up with an error saying that i can not open them because the are in a(pcd file extension) it alos give me the oppertunity to rename them but that dose not work, i am sure they were all in "jpg" on my h/d ,so i cant figure out whtas going on.in total i have 84 folders in jpg format on my h/d,on the pendrive i have 84 folders, i can only read 22 in jpg all the rest are in (pcd).i hope someone on here can understand what im saying many thanks for reading this

Answer:4gb usb pendrive only using 1gb ?

this is a blind guess but it could be the 84 folders some equipment does not like too many folders. Could you start again but nest the folders inside other folders so that the drive sees a smaller no.

32 gb kingston pendrive not responding

Answer:pendrive not responding

If you've had it for a while it may have reached the end of it's life. There is a limit to how many times you can write to it, and a limit to how long it will retain the data that's on it.I have found the original low capacity ones to be far more reliable, I'm still using a 1GB one after 5 years daily use, whereas the 8GB one I bought didn't last more than a year. So I no longer buy them. I use external hard drives instead. They cost more initially but are more reliable and last longer so you actually save money over the longer term.

Sir, I have 4gb kingston pendrive. I want to partition it into three parts(three drives)
Is it possible if yes plz tell me how

Answer:Partition of pendrive

1) Windows will not let you create or see multiple partitions on removable media. But you can do it with linux. See this page.

[SOLVED] Making multiple partitions on USB memory stick

2) Another approach is to try and turn your USB drive into a fixed disk by ‘flipping’ the removable bit in the firmware. This is the digital flag that tells Windows whether the drive is ‘fixed’ or ‘removable’. You can do this using the Lexar BootIt utility.

LEXAR JUMPDRIVE USB FORMAT TOOL - The CD Forum

Lexar tool makes creating bootable USB flash drives easy

Create separate partitions on your Corsair USB flash drive « Corsair? Blog

Let me add that the Lexar utility may or may not work on your particular drive, so use at your own risk.

3) The safest option is to buy a few cheap, low capacity drives and use them for individual purposes.

Question: Bootable pendrive

I know its been covered before however using a pendrive for a bootable drive are they faster than say a standard HDD due to the solid state memory?

Say for example i had a 4Gb pendrive and installed all the O/S and drivers onto the drive, would it boot faster than my 7200 160Gb HDD?

Or alternatively used the files and setting transfer wizard to make the drive bootable?

Surely the onboard memory of the drive has faster access speeds in a USB2 slot? Or does it have to be a USB1.1 because the drivers for the USB2 wont load at first boot?

Just being nosey really!

Answer:Bootable pendrive

Nope, a USB stick isn't any faster - some new SSDs (actual hard drives) are around the same speed as a good HDD.

A bootable USB stick will be quite slow and won't last as long as it has a limit on the amount of writes. They are good for playing with Linux though

Hi, I have an r32 and I'm trying to boot from a pendrive to start Ubuntu.  I used the Ubuntu creator to make a bootable pendrive. I had purchased a Transcend Jet Flash 700 USB 3.0 16 GB Pendrive from Flipkart in mid September 2011. The pendrive is not even a year old.

Yesterday I inserted my pendrive in a friend's laptop to transfer files of around 1.5GB. The pendrive had more than 10GB free space. 70-80% of the transfer was done but then his laptop's battery drained off and the laptop obviously got shut down. Since then, whenever I insert my pendrive in any device the blue light on it blinks for around 10 seconds and then the light turns off too. The pendrive is not detected.

I have tried reading the pendrive on my friend's laptop, on my laptop and my tablet too. On each device, the pendrive's light blinks for about 10 seconds but nothing happens.

Please help, is there any way by which I can fix it?

Answer:Pendrive not being detected - Please help

Do you get any error message?

Does the pendrive show up in Disk Management? If so a screenshot will be helpul to give a trageted solution hopefully.

Other file like worksheet/picture/software running smooth with

Question: pendrive virus

I had got a friend's pendrive and double clicked it to open. All of a sudden my antivirus Kaspersky got disabled and my pc crashed. After restarting I got the following as my XP sp3 opened:::
A window appears with the title:
"Can't run 16 bit windows program"
Within the window it states:
"Insufficient memory to run this application. Quit one or more windows applications and then try again."
Then I could not run any system .exe files like command prompt, msconfig, etc, nor did my antivirus work(it was still disabled).I couldn't open my web browser google chrome or firefox. I am currently using IE7. Then the weirdest thing happened. I installed a game after all this happened and it worked quite fine, but as soon as I inserted my XP cd to format, my system could not detect it. Even when I inserted my Kaspersky disc it did not detect the disk, but any other disc is easily read without any trouble. Both XP and Kaspersky discs are otiginal and I am stcuk!!! Please help!!!!

Been using True Crypt on my desktop and its working fine,I have several important medical info stored in the True crypt file. And I also have a backup of the files.
Now what I'm looking for is for some easy explanation on getting True crypt to work on my 8GB pen drive,Would that be possible on an 8GB drive or would I need a larger one,The files that I have saved on the desktop are in PDF format so maybe the 8GB would be okay?

I use kaspersky internet security but it does not protect my pendrive. Today I saw something called "newfolder.exe" was automatically creating folders and subfolders flawlessly but kaspersky did nothing. Actually kaspersky couldn't prevent. Also detected "autorun.inf" and asked me to do a restart. I restarted thne again same thing happened. Then I went to my friends house then I scanned my pendrive on his pc with Norton. norton detected something called trojan and immediately removed that shit from my pendrive and helped me to get trolled as I'm a kaspersky fanboy sorry I forgot to take screen shot.
How to get rid of this kind of usb virus or so?????

do note that norton deleted virus from my pendrive along with all my documents without single permission.

Maybe you have it turned off?

my DVD drive is not detecting any cd/dvd.So I want to install XP sp2 from pendrive, please tell me the procedure for this.

Answer:to install XP sp2 with pendrive

Hi durgesh_mmm and welcome to TSF !

Make sure you changed the boot order priority to CD-rom first in the BIOS.

If the DVD/CD drive is really dead then the easiest solution would be to replace it or borrow a friend's for the time of the installation. If this is a laptop you can use an external DVD drive (if the laptop doesn't support booting from an USB device you won't be able to use another method anyway).

What's the brand and model of your computer or of your motherboard ? You'll need to make your USB drive bootable, have a motherboard that supports booting from USB devices and edit several files because XP isn't designed to be installed from an USB drive.

GmailFS provides a mountable Linux filesystem which uses your Gmail account as its storage medium. GmailFS is a Python application and uses the FUSE userland filesystem infrastructure to help provide the filesystem, and libgmail to communicate with Gmail.

GmailFS supports most file operations such as read, write, open, close, stat, symlink, link, unlink, truncate and rename. This means that you can use all your favourite unix command line tools to operate on files stored on Gmail (e.g. cp, ls, mv, rm, ln, grep etc. etc.).Click to expand...

Hi all,

This seems like a fairly standard message - but I just can't figure it out?!

When I plug the pendrive in I can't 'see' it in my computer.

Someone has said it may be to do with the fact that I'm at work and have some network drives mapped. I've been into 'Control Panel' and then 'Admin Tools' and then 'Computer Management' and then 'Disk Management' - and then I can 'see' the pendrive is connected.

It seems to be automatically mapped to 'E:' - but then when I go back to 'My Computer' 'E:' isn't one of the drive letters being shown?!

Help please!!

Thanks - James.

Answer:Sony USB 2.0 Pendrive

The E: drive is probably one of your network drives. Are you sure it is not listed in My Computer. Network drives' letters are displayed in the end of the drives description.

Just change the USB pen's drive letter in Disk Managment to something that is definently not used.

When I plug my usb pendrive into usb port computer hangs. If I go 'ctl'+'alt'+'del' it tells me prog.'MSQSRV32' not responding. only way out is to end task. After this if I go to 'device manager' the icon for pendrive has red X on it and properties tell me windows has had trouble accessing mass storage device. I am running windows 98se and processor is a pentium MMX.Does anyone out there have a fix for this problem.I have also re-installed the drivers and problem persists.

Answer:usb pendrive problems

it looks like a driver problem, I have never seen anything in device manager with a red x, usually only a yellow conflict sign. What type of pendrive is it, and where did you buy it?the only thing I can think of is to run the system file checker, put the w98 cd in the drive, click start, run and type sfc and allow it to replace any corrupted files from the cd.
