Preferred Solution: Why The System On Toshiba SATTILITE A350-20S

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

How do I go about setting up Bidirectional LPT port? I have reason to believe that it is set up by default.

Answer:Toshiba Sattilite Bidirectional LPT Port

If you have the option it would be in the bios, reboot, watch for a message about press <key> to enter setup or try the delete key, once in the bios look through the menu's until you find the correct one.

Hi there guys. I just acquired a laptop from my step-father and I have formatted it to Windows 7 Pro 64bit. I seem to have most drivers for it but I have missing a crucial piece of software.

I have tried Vista 64bit and Win7 Flash Cards Utility to get my FN Keys working. Non of which have. Also the Value Added Package wont install either.

I would love some help with this!

Any Ideas?

Cheers

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A350

Did you install the chipset drivers first before any other driver the .inf file gives the correct locations to which all other drivers will be instaled.

You should only use drivers for Windows 7 64-bit only

Have you checked that the FN key is not damaged or debris caught under the key itself giving a bad contact?

Ok, here?s the story. I own a Toshiba Satellite A350 laptop for a few years. As every night, laptop was on, I press the power button making it go into hibernate and then pull out the plug (battery is out, since it is always on cable and it might save the battery)

The next day, I plug in the adapter, press the power button and nothing happens. Literally nothing. Black screen, not a single sound .. nothing. All I can see is the indication light that the adapter is plugged in, which lights up.

I searched the internet (using another PC, duh ) and found lots of similar issues with Toshiba laptops. Main solution seems to be holding the power button for 30 second, putting the battery in and restarting it. None of these methods help.

I took the laptop apart, checked (and disconnected) the CMOS battery. Checked the power button, which is working, cleaned everything.

Here?s the weird thing: I have an USB optical mouse and a keyboard connected. I noticed that ?besides the indication of the adapter- the red light of my mouse is on all the time and also the indication lights (caps lock, num lock) of my keyboard can be switched on. So there seems to be power on my USB as soon as I connect my adapter.

Hope anyone can help, because I ran out of options. Two friends looked into it, no one has a clue.

I stil use very old Toshiba A350D. Notebook works fine with Office, internet browsing and other light task.
But last days i notice a problem with wifi connection. Well, the card constantly switches off automatically. I use Intel Wifi ProSET tool and Windows 7 system tools.
Windows 7 indicator shown no avilable connections and ProSET indicator shown wifi disabled and ask for turn on wifi with hardware switcher, when hardware switcher (mechanical slider with LED on front) is in the 'on' position and LED flashes.

When this happens, the wifi card is still detected in the Windows device manager. I reinstalled all drivers, but this didn't fix the problem.
The card can be switched on and off several times per minute, but most often when the card is turned off it is hard to activate it again.

Fn + F8 works well, if WiFi Link works properly himself.

Is there still someone who remembers this model and met with such behavior?

We have just bought a new A350. I was installing Comodo during a Windows update.
The Comodo install failed to complete, but the Windows update did. We initially had three problems;

1. Lost internet connectivity, but not LAN. This was resolved by installing Comodo.
2. On start up the following message box appears "Can not find script file C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Management Console\TOSHealthLocalS.vbs"
3. When I start the Toshiba Management Console the following message box presents:

C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Toshiba Management Console\TOSMgmt.exe
The specified path does not exist.

Check the path, and then try again

I have checked the path and that component does not appear to be loaded.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Answer:Satellite A350: Error Messages on Start up when Toshiba Console is started

Hi

It looks like the Toshiba Console software does not function properly due to the instillation of the Comodo?
I don?t know exactly what happens but I think something has been muddled up?

I think the Toshiba Console should be installed again but to be honest I didn?t find it on the Toshiba European driver page!

Maybe you could set the OS back to the early time point before you have installed the Comodo? This should help you too?

Please insert DVD - discs to perform back up recovery discs.
Hope this is of some help, I am now almost bald from pulling my hair out!

Answer:Satellite A350-12J tells to insert DVD + "This is a system error"

Hi

Are you not able to boot up the system? Or what?
What happens if you press F8 immediately after the notebook has been powered up?
Can you see the boot menu then?

If you can access the ?Advanced boot? menu then you could try to use the option called ?Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)?.

If this will not help and you will be not able to restart the notebook then choose ?Repair my computer? -> Toshiba HDD recovery and reinstall the OS using the Toshiba HDD recovery option.

When trying to create a System Image in the "Backup and Restore" facility built into Windows 10, my External 2TB Hard Drive wasn't displayed as a viable location. After doing some digging, it was found in the same utility that the Hard Drive in question was labelled as "SYSTEM", and the drive would be required to be included as part of the image, and that the image couldn't be located on that drive, which, as the [external] hard drive already has around 450GiB+ on it, makes the total size of the backups around 600GiB, which won't fit on any other hard drive I have.

Sidenote:
The 2TB Hard Drive is partitioned to include a 100GiB partition of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with the GRUB 2 Bootloader but as the partition isn't recognised by Windows, surely this can't be affecting the Partition Type.

Is there anything that I could do in order to remove the label from the Hard Drive, as I'm trying to create a System Image as a S.M.A.R.T. test on Ubuntu 16.04 suggested that there may be anywhere up to 190 Failing Sectors on my Internal 320GB Hard Drive.

Thanks in advance.

I have a damaged serial port. It is disconnected/mapped out/ removed from my bios. When restoring win98 from cd, boots into safe mode. serial port causes this. If I disable it once again, and boot machine normally, it boots OK BUT then goes into auto routine showing 'Found New Hardware, and locks up.
Question. How can I boot machine but stop windows going into auto routine finding new hardware. In my innocense I assumed that windows would not look for hardware which was removed from the bios.
HELP. my laptop is unusable under windows at the moment (Linux installs and runs ok) except for serial port.

Answer:Cannot restore system using Toshiba CDs

Hi Alvey,

I don't believe it is possible to prevent Windows from detecting new hardware during its load processing. This is a fundamental part of the system design needed to support the 'Plug and Play' concept of Windows.

I think your only real option is to get your serial port fixed so that your system will boot normally.

Answer:toshiba system disk

From your very hard to read post I think you have a laptop that had the hard drive changed out and you can't get it to boot. This leads me to think the reason for the hard drive change out was a hard drive password was stopping the boot. This is usually an indication the laptop is not in the possession of the legal owner. Beyond that I can't say what your problem is because you haven't explained it clearly.

You should try a start up repair from repair disk, install disk, recovery disk or recovery partition console (not factory restore). If this does not work you may have a problem with your hard drive, your memory or your power supply, just to name the first 3.You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

This unit got the Mandiant USA Security virus and tried running a system restore which worked but the owner has forgotten the old password and now I need to undo the system restore to be able to get back into windows to try something eles. Even before running the system restore, I couldn't get into any options at startup by pressing f8 or f11, any ideas please?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite C55 how to undo system restore?

If the computer only has one account and you cannot get to a command prompt you can try enabling the hidden Administrator Account. Follow the steps here but to not reset any passwords. If this password was a Windows Live Account there may be a problem. You can get the latest version of the software here. Once you have logged into the Administrator Account, use that to undo the System Restore. You will need to disable Secure Boot and possibly enable Legacy boot in order to boot the utility.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4713-system-restore-undo-windows-8-a.html

Sometimes you can force Windows into the Advanced Options mode by doing the following. When Windows 8 shuts down it does not really shut down like WIndows 7. It is more of a hybrid shutdown. Getting into Advanced Options should let you undo the restore point. See link above.

Hold the Power Button for 5 seconds or until the computer completely shuts off.
Press the Power Button to turn the computer on.
As soon as you see the rotating loading circle, press and hold the Power Button until the computer shuts off.
Repeat this process 2 or 3 times until you see the Preparing Automatic Repair screen.
Edit: Once you get into the Adminstrator Account you can change the password of your client's account if it is not a Windows Live password.

Edit Edit: If the customer did have a Windows Live account for logging in, you can reset it and then use that to log  in avoiding doing any of the abo... Read more

I'm french so don't be afraid of mistakes !

I wonder if I can repartition my HDD as I want

First of all, I explain you what I've understood with the FAQ:
If Vista fail to boot, Toshiba Recovery in the hidden partition WinRE ( eisa configuration) offer to repair and use either the DVD we have burn or the directory HDDRecovery in the partition E: to repair.

My question is if I don't have the DVD (or if I lost it) :
Can I repartition my HDD (not the Recovery partition but enlarge the partition C: en reduce the partition E:) without causing problems of recovery ?
In other terms will the Recovery partition at boot update the position of recovery files in E:
And if it works, can I simply copy-paste the HDDRecovery directory from E: to C: and then to E: while I format E:
Thank you for your answers

Juju313

Answer:Re: Does partitionning cause problems with the Toshiba Recovery System ?

Hello

I think you mixed up something...
The hidden Windows partition (Recovery Environment) has nothing to do with the Toshiba recovery disk or HDD recovery procedure. This is a Windows feature that is on all PCs and notebooks available so my suggestion is you read this good Wikipedia article about this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recovery_Environment

The HDD recovery files are stored on the second partition of the HDD in the folder HDDRecovery. So if you use the HDD recovery function only the first partition will be formatted and you can only use this feature if you have access to the advanced boot menu. If you don?t have it you must use the Toshiba recovery disk because the disk formats the whole HDD and restore the factory settings of the notebook (the HDD recovery too but only with the first partition).

You can change the partition size of both partitions but there should be enough free space on both partitions. Otherwise the HDD recovery does maybe not work.
About the Vista partition tool I can prefer this useful article:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB7101OB0006R01.htm

I hope you understand it better now and if you have more questions please let us know.

Easy, just don't delete/format the partition where the recovery is. Windows will only need to format C:, so that's fine.

Pls help, Toshiba Qosmio G20 cooling system problem

Last week I bought notebook Toshiba Qosmio G20-106 and the first day I got it it was very slow and Iīm getting this error message every 10 minutes or so:

Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service.

I bought it in another country, and I canīt go back just for the service, and servicer in my country doesnīt know whatīs causing the problem.

When that message pops up, the processor slows down by 25% and everything works so ridiculously slowly that I can barely get anything done. Then, ever 10 minutes or so, it seems like the fan tries to spin but can't, gives up after a few seconds and tries again.

Did anyone have the same problem here? Is there any advice you could give me? And is there any software application that could force the cpu fan on or that could monitor is wheather the fan is on and check the fan speed?

What is the max temperature of notebook cpu that can be? Processor is Pentium M (Centrino) 1,86GhZ, with 1GB RAM.

I have gone into safe mode and attempted to repair, but i don't know if i am doing it right. This was previous posted elsewhere without results. So I Am working on Toshiba Satellite A205 S5804 that is not even booting up except to a black screen. I allowed Vista to repair itself which it could not do. Previous I got a BSOD. I have no system restore or recovery disks. The Toshiba System Volume (partition 1) of 2 starts at cyl 0, head 32, Sector 33. I do not think the partition should be starting out that far and that is my problem. Partition 2, both NTFS, starts directly thereafter. I ran spybot and and 2 AV's and no results. This was my sisters computer. Is my only option to fork over the $24.95 to Toshiba for recovery disks since in my opinion and that of Toshiba the System volume is damaged without repair-ability or do I have others?
Still trying...

Answer:Vista & Toshiba System Volume dilemma

As I recall, Toshiba shipped systems with recovery disks until just before the release of Win7 - did yours come with them? If so, then it's likely that there's no recovery partition on the hard drive. It's likely that the "missing" stuff before cyl 0, head 32, sector 33 is the boot volume that helps to control the BitLocker stuff (and I don't know any more about that).

If System Repair didn't work, then the only alternatives (IMO) are either a repair install of Vista (I've never had any luck with these - especially on OEM systems) or a wipe and reinstall (which the recover disks will do).

The benefit of the Toshiba recovery disks is that you won't have to hunt for all the drivers that you'll need to have if you use a plain, vanilla OEM recovery disk (and you'd still have to find one of them).

Hello,

I just got my Toshiba Satellite L50-B-27N (PSKTQE) today.
Since I prefer Windows 7 over 8, I got my notebook without any OS so I can install Windows 7 on it.

Now I wanted to install the PC Health Monitor on my notebook, but the installation doesn't work, telling me always that Toshiba System Drivers are missing.

After doing some research, I can not find system drivers for Windows 7 64 bit only for Windows 8. Yet there is a Pc Health monitor for Windows 7 on the Driver page.

My question therefore is, where can I get system drivers for windows 7 64 bit so i can get this Pc health monitor running?

Answer:Satellite L50-B-27N - Toshiba System Drivers for Windows 7

Hi

Toshiba System Driver isn’t available for Win 7.
There is another software called Toshiba Value Added Package for Win 7.
This is required and must be installed

I hope the problem is highest frequency; mine is %32 other is %100

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/7532/39490208.jpg

What is the problem in your opinion?

Answer:2x Satellite A350-22z but one is slower than the other

hi erdemrek,
i cant see what is exactly the problem your talking about but:
if you have the same cpu, the same amount of ram, same model make, same installation then everything should be the same.
what do you mean with "highest frequency" unfortunatly i dont speak your language therefor i cant read the text on your image.
if you test the speed of the machine be assured to use the same utility (benchmark).
load on a system differs depending on the services and applications launched and running.
could you give some more information on this problem?

at first you can try to swap the hdd and see if there is any change. if it's a software related problem it should appear on the other machine as well when changing the hdd.

I own a Toshiba Satellite A350-21d.

In the past few weeks I experienced that the computer shuts down, while playing games.
I have played these games for as long I?ve had the computer, so I really don?t understand why these shutdowns happen.

So if anyone could help it would be great
I have updated my BIOS, and several other updates.

Hello Thomas

It is not easy to say why this happen exactly. To be honest your posting doesn?t offer any relevant info.
Which OS do you use?
Do you use Toshiba drivers only?
Have you may be installed some third part graphic driver?
Which games do you play?
Is notebook pretty hot before shuts down?

Please explain to us all this a little bit detailed.

Hi! Is it possible to regulate the sensivity of the touchpad in my laptop?
I have a Satellite A350-20J (according to the label at the bottom of the laptop), a PSAL6E-04800GRU (as of Toshiba diagnostics utility). I bought this notebook in Moscow.
It is getting already annoying to work with it as this touchpad is so sensible that I am continuously unintentionaly "making clicks" here and there, sometimes with very undesirable effects.

Another question:
To the date I am writing this message I have not been yet able to find the exact model of my laptop in both the English and Russian websites of Toshiba.

1 + Following the UK site, I reach http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/home/ There is a link on the top left "Click here to find your laptop". Click. A pop-up opens, with 2 ways to locate my laptop:
1.1 - Select the family, series or model you are looking for: I chose "Satellite A350 series" then the next combo offers just A350-20S. That's not the mine!!
1.2 - Enter the part number you are looking for: I enter the number in the label of my laptop, click Search and get a "Entered part number has not been found"

2 + Ok, ok, as I bought this computer in Moscow, maybe I have to go to the Russian site. I go there, everything of course is in Russian but no option to change the language to english (my native language is not English nor Russian). No problem. Answer:Satellite A350-20J and Touchpad

Hello Carlos

At first I must say that you can change touchpad sensitivity. It can be done in Synaptics settings.
Please go to control panel > mouse > Device settings tab > Settings button > in next window you will find menu on the left and last option there ?Sensitivity?.
Try to change touch sensitivity there.

The whole story about notebook model identification is interesting but at the end I didn't understand why is this so important for you.
All you need to know is that you have PSAL6E model.

Using this part number on download page you will be able to download right drivers and all other Toshiba stuff for your notebook.
It will be very nice to know why is this identification so important for you.

Hi

Do you try to copy any copyright protected disks?
Possibly this is not possibly due to some restrictions?
Otherwise you should check if an firmware update for the drive exists?
If one is available then you should find it on the Toshiba European driver page.

Last but not least if can be an hardware issue? but the ASP should be contacted as last resort?. I mean in most cases the used DVDs or CDs are responsible for such issues?
I had such issue too and could solve it using another brand? I?m now with TDK ?R disks

Hallo

I have an A350-13I Notebook. The notebook has a slot to install a second hard disk but there is no connector for it. Does anybody know what modifications are necessary to install a second hard disk?

Answer:Satellite A350 - How to install a second HDD?

Hi

The answer is pretty easy: You can do nothing!

The reason why you have a second slot but without connector is that some models are equipped with second HDD and some other models not I think.

So fact is that you can?t add second HDD to your notebook.
If you need more disk space you can use a bigger HDD or an external HDD for data.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:Satellite A350-12J: What BIOS can I use

Hi

Why you don?t know what BIOS is compatible?
Where is the problem?

The Satellite A350-12J seems to belong to the PSALWE series. The number should be placed at the bottom of the unit.

If you would select this model number on the Toshiba European driver page then you would get all the necessary Vista drivers and the BIOS for this unit.
The page provides BIOS for vista 32bit and 64bit. If the Vista is 32bit OS then take the BIOS for 32bit?

But to be honest I still don?t know what a problem is? your posting is very short any not really helpful?

Hi guys,

I installed Windows 7 on my A350/07H and I have a few problems.

1. I cannot find any vista/w7 drivers for the frontpanel multimedia touch buttons
2. When I type shift+2 I get a " symbol instead of a @ symbol. Vice versa, when I press shift+' I get the @ symbol instead of the " symbol.
3. When installing vista drivers for the touchpad, by either Synaptics or ALPS (I think that's the name), the touchpad is quite laggy. That is, it's not smooth and seems to be less responsive than without the drivers. I uninstalled the touchpad drivers and the touchpad returns to being very responsive.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Answer:Satellite A350/07H and Windows 7

Hello

As you know Win7 is not launched officially and at the moment you can try to use beta drivers from Toshiba US support page.
For every OS Toshiba must design and test new drivers. For Win7 such drivers still don't exist, just beta drivers. If everything works well is OK and you will be lucky if not .... you know what I mean. :(

I bought the Satellite in June 09, and my issue only happened after a year and a half of owning the laptop.

I emailed Toshiba Support about my issue. Basically it all started back in January this year and the laptop screen just went blank. The laptop was still active but it just looked dead. So I restarted it and each and every time two things would happen:

1 ? The time of when the laptop would go dead is random, sometimes it will not even load to the Windows start screen, other times it will last about 10 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. (It was a struggle to even copy all my files over as it kept crashing!!!)

2 ? The screen sometimes will go blank, or you will get a random line across a coloured or black screen or it will be like a really random set of colours across the screen.

Toshiba want to charge me ?80 odd pounds just to look at it which I just do not agree with.

Has anyone else had any issues or can offer my any advice at all ?

Answer:Two issues on my Satelite A350-20S

Hi, sounds like the graphics card/chip or the screen needs replacing. Have a look at the ASP (Authorized Service Provider) list on the Toshiba website and give them a call, perhaps another ASP can give you a cheaper quote.

A similar problem happened to my notebook and it was actually cheaper to buy a new notebook than replace the mainboard + labour.

Hi there,

When cleaning my A350-04S today, I removed my keyboard to find the motherboard labeled "3G / UWB / GPS". This was a surprise to me, as the laptop was not advertised with 3G / UWB or GPS. It also has a SIM slot behind the battery, but I can't seem to identify the F3507g mobile broadband module. Does anyone know if my model had the F3507g installed? I've also gone ahead and installed all the necessary software (found [here|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=3gdownloads]) but the module cannot be identified.

Could it be that the BIOS settings are disabling the hardware (if it is there)? If it isn't there, why has Toshiba included the SIM slot and printed on the motherboard "3G / UWB / GPS"?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:SIM Slot on Satellite A350-04S

According notebook specification your notebook model doesn?t have 3G module inside. All notebooks with 3G have preinstalled software for 3G that is included in original recovery image that Toshiba install on notebooks and offer to the customers.

I presume you such software was not preinstalled with, I presume original Vista OS. It is Canadian model and I don?t know if Toshiba Canada has offered A350 with 3G.

Hi!

I purchased the A350 last week on Boxing Day. I have noticed that the fan can be quite noisy at times.

When I am running low requirement programs or when the computer is idling, I notice that the fans become really noise every minute or so for about 20 seconds. It is definitely not quiet when it does come on. When I do run intensive programs, such as gaming apps, the fan seems to be on constantly, which makes sense.

My main issue is the amount of noise that's coming from the fan. Does anyone have any solutions or ideas on how I could go about reducing the noise from the fans? Does anyone have similar experience with this laptop? I am hoping it's as simple as modifying a setting or something. As it is, I can never use this laptop at work because of the amount of noise coming from the fan. The sporadic nature does not help either.

I'd appreciate any help with this issue.

Sam

Answer:Satelllite A350 - Fan noise is not quite

Hi!

I think it is normal that the fan is constantly on when you run intensive programs like games. There you will have a 100% CPU usage and it is normal that the CPU produces heat loss.

And if I surf in the Internet the fan does often run but on the lowest level and this makes no much noise.

However, I think that is not a problem but if you wont accept this, go to an local ASP. They can check the fan and say what is ok and what not.

Bye

Hello

I'm French.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A350-11C and would like to downgrade my pc to Windows XP but I don't found any driver for WinXP.
Where to download it? Or the Vista driver is compatible with Winxp?

Thanks bye

Answer:Need WXP drivers for my Satellite A350-11c

Hello

I have checked Toshiba support page and unfortunately there are no drivers for WXP. Obviously this newest notebook model is not WXP supported, or not yet.
So either you try to search drivers by hardware manufacturers, similar Satellite models or continue to use Vista.

To be honest I don't believe there is some difference between satellite A300 and A350 except dimension. I don't know which A300 is similar to your A350 (hardware configuration).
Try to compare notebook specifications on Toshiba support page.

At the end I must say that downgrade is OK but maybe you should also look forward and use Vista as latest operating system. Make good experience with it and prepare yourself for new Windows 7. It is similar to Vista but with some differences in design.

Hey everyone.

I own a Toshiba Satellite A350.

Last night, my down arrow key clicked out of place, and now I'm pretty sure one of the key retainers is broken, as a very small part of one of the retainers is broken, and the key will not click back into place.

I went to at least 4 different computer stores today and had no luck in finding somewhere who sells these retainers, one place , however suggested I go to the manufacturer, so do I call the Toshiba help line or something??

With this model, is it possible for me to fix this retainer/key issue, or will I have to take it to a professional??

Answer:Satellite A350 - I need a new key retainer

I think you will not find a key retainer because such parts are not available. If one key is broken or something else on the keyboard you must replace the complete keyboard.

What you can do now?
Well, in your case I would contact the nearest ASP that you can find on the Toshiba website. Explain the situation and the ASP can order a new keyboard and exchange it if you want.

My father-in-law's laptop is the Satellite 350 and i think it has 12j after its name.

We re-installed Vista 32 bit the other day and he said a few things are not working as they should.

Firstly, if he presses the FN key and, let?s say, the brightness it works but he used to have a little dock type thing pop up at the top of the screen with the FN button icons. The other FN keys don?t work though such as the monitor swapping switch.

Second the soft-touch media keys don?t work such as turning off the LEDs behind them or bringing up media player.

We have done the obvious and tried installing the value package but it said on installation that it was removing the package so it must have already been installed. After re-installing it, there is no difference. I can?t find any programs or anything in control panel for it.
Also I tried the same thing for Hardware setup. Again it seemed to be saying it was there and uninstalling it. Again I re-installed it but still can?t find anything for it anywhere for me to go into to change any settings or anything.

I haven't got the laptop with me right now as it is at his house but I think I got everything right.

Any ideas welcome.

Answer:Re: Few issues with Satellite A350-12J

Every Toshiba notebook is offered with preinstalled operating system and this old A350 should be delivered with Vista so I would like to know if there is possibility for you to use this original recovery image.
Have your father in law created recovery DVD as recommended by Toshiba?

I presume you try to install own Vista version, right?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A350 (about a year and a half old) that will not start up correctly. This happened after the laptop was left on until the battery ran out. The keyboard and power button LEDs will light up, but the screen remains black when I try to turn it on. I use Windows Vista.

The machine generally continues to make a whirring noise for a few seconds before it ceases to make any noise (the fan and the HD). The screen sometimes flickers a lighter black on a screen for less than a second. Also, the cooling fan sometimes continues to operate after everything else has stopped.

Another issue is that when if it does turn on and proceed to the Toshiba screen, odd lines will fade into the screen and eventually the screen will end up white/blue. On the other hand, sometimes it will turn on and act as if nothing happened. At these times, putting it to sleep mode will cause it to not be a ble to turn on again.

I've tried removing the battery, using only the battery, fully charging the battery and using the laptop with barely any charge in the battery and it does not change anything.

I would really appreciate any sort of lead as to what may be wrong with the poor thing.

Answer:Satellite A350 will not boot

Hello

Generally speaking it?s always hard to say something about such ?sometimes errors? because it?s not clear and could be caused by every part but at the moment I doubt this problem is software related?

Can you see something on an external screen when internal screen remains black?

In worst case it?s a hardware malfunction and this would mean you need help from an ASP to check what part is affected but if your notebook is under warranty, the repair would be for free.

Hello,

I'm a french owner of a A350-122 (Serial No: 39169719K)

In the french user's manual, on page 1-5, it's written that it's possible to insert an other hard drive, and on page 2-6 the rear view of the A350-122 shows a second location on the left for a second hard drive.

So, I have bought an Intel X25-M SSD to put in the second location. I have opened the second location and there is nothing: no sata connector, no power connector, only an empty location.

So, what's wrong with this Satellite A350-122?

Thank's for your answer.

Hi,

Some of the A350 models do not support a second HDD. On those models, the Bay will be missing the SATA Connector.

On models that are shipped with two HDD's built-in, there will be a SATA connector in the Bay.

A Toshiba M35X laptop (Windows XP Home SP3) at work was going to be thrown away (networking problems the boss couldn't fix) so I took it home to try to rescue it for personal use. I've got it running OK, and I'm trying to uninstall stuff I don't need, including Toshiba Speech System. There were 3 entries in "add/remove programs" -- Speech System Applications, SR Engine(U.S.) Version 1.0, and TTS Engine (U.S.) Version 1.0. I uninstalled SR Engine first but I've caused a problem -- it asked about keeping several files that "may be needed by other applications" and I said to go ahead and delete them. Oops! It deleted at least one file that the other 2 need to remove them. The file is
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine\6\Intel 32\Ctor.dll

I looked for the file in the recycle bin, but the installer didn't put anything there.

I found a suggestion online to use the installation disk to uninstall it, but I don't have the disk. Does anyone know how I can get the other 2 parts uninstalled? I believe it's unlikely that my boss can find either a Toshiba Speech System installation disk (if it was purchased later) or the "reinstall applications" disk that came with the machine (if the software was pre-installed).

Thanks for reading this. I'm new to this forum, so please let me know if there's a different section I should have posted this to.

Answer:missing a file to uninstall Toshiba Speech System

I found a solution. Hooray!!

On this page
http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/top...speech-system/
I was able to download the Toshiba speech software. I downloaded it and tried to install it on my machine. At first it told me the software was already installed, so I only installed the piece I had deleted earlier. That worked, so I promptly removed all 3 parts using Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs. This time I removed the Speech System Applications first, then the TTS Engine, and finally the SR Engine. I was only asked about keeping 3 files (not the same ones as before, possibly because the order was different), so I kept them. I have since gone in and removed the leftover items manually.

I hope that this information will help anyone else who might have a similar problem.

Hello,
I am asking for help regarding system freezes i am experiencing recently.
I do not know what information i should supply to get help with this problem.
I have a Toshiba sattelite A-300 laptop runing Windows Vista Home Premium.
I have a few ideas for what the reason might be.
1) A problem with a usb motorola surfboard modem driver. I used to have blue screens and the reason for them was Daemon tools and the modem driver. After uninstalling Daemon tools i had less blue screens but i still get them once in a while.
2) I recently connected a cooling pad to my computer. Could it consume too much power over the usb connection?

Once the system freezes there is nothing i can do except for shutting down the computer and turning it back on again. There is no report generated so i wouldn't know where to start looking for the reason to the freeze.

I would appreciate any help and any suggestion.

Hello! I have 2 Toshiba Laptops, and amazingly both suddenly present "Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected...". One laptop is 3 months old, and the 2nd is 2 years old. It seems to me that these are false warnings as once they are clicked off, they disappear for a long time. The units don't feel warm at all. A Google search reveals lots of these issues. Since both machines were recently upgraded to W10, I thought it could be some software conflict, but after restoring both back to W8.1, the warnings continue. I loaded SpeedFan to monitor and adjust the temperatures and fans, but SpeedFan reports no spiking temperatures ever...all monitors running cool as a cuke.
I contacted Toshiba, and one service rep refused to acknowledge an awareness of such a problem, and a second seemed to suggest some conflict with Windows.
So I am up here at Techguys to see if anyone has heard of this problem and may have a solution. There is always the concern that the warning may be real and something is cooking inside. I suppose I could open the case up and blow out everything, but the one notebook is only 3 months old.
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

How can I run Toshiba Face Recognition System on my Satellite A200?

The only problem with that software is the program do not see my cam.
I mean...it see the cam but when I try to register new face in system then I can read something like "The webcam is currently in use or there is problem with hardware".

So I turn off toshiba webcam utility but nothing changed.
The webcam itselfs is running correctly. Its Chicony webcam such as in toshiba's A300 series even the driver is the same (date, time, number, series)
So if someone know what can be wrong please answer..

Thanks
Bye

Answer:Re: Satellite A200-1ZF How to run Toshiba Face recognition system

Hi

I have checked download page for your Satellite notebook and face recognition tool is not available so I presume you have downloaded it for some other notebook model.
This is not so important and I think it should work anyway.

I have older Satellite P200 and it was also delivered without face recognition tool. I have installed it anyway and it works perfectly. My notebook hast ?factory settings? and camera Assistant software is OFF.

Is your notebook installed with recovery image too?

Try to remove preinstalled face recognition software and remove web cam from device manager, restart your notebook and try to install it again. it works on my notebook and I don't see any reason why it should not works on your too.
On this forum many people asked if this software can work on older notebook models and many people have confirmed it runs well.

Hello, I am a new user and found this website to ask for help. Here is my problem.

My brother's Toshiba Satellite A105 caught a virus. He uses Windows XP SP3. The system starts up fine but when I get to the desktop, it loads horribly slow due to the virus. CPU usage remains at 100%. So I turn it off and back on while pressing F12. I have the option of booting from cd, hdd, fdd, and I forgot the other one. I do have a recovery disk I put in. So I highlight the cd option so it boots from the CD. It begins saying "Loading RAMDISK image" then loads another thing then just starts back up as normal into the desktop once again. Second try, I go into BIOS and change it so it boots only from the CD when it starts up. And again I get "Loading Ramdisk image" and the other thing that loads. I forgot what it said. when it's both done loading, it starts back up all over with "loading ramdisk image". It just endlessly loops. Getting no where.

I also tried going into safe mode for a system restore to a certain point. Mind you, the system restore window took about 1 hour to pop up. The laptop is [I]that[I] slow. I left it for about 4 hours to do its system restore to a previous date and it didn't fix anything at all.

Another try, I waited for the whole system to load. I put in the CD and waited for the Toshiba System Recovery to pop. (Took about another hour for it to pop up) With patience, it popped up and I pressed "Preform a system recovery"... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Satellite System Recovery Boot Loop

Hi troubled.user,

Try going to safe mode again and see if you are able to get internet access while in safe mode. Assuming you do, try downloading two programs called "HitmanPRO" and "Malwarebytes". Install them both and then first run HitmanPRO then Malwarebytes. Let both programs run and detect any viruses/spywares on your computer and delete them. Hopefully this helps you out.

I recently bought a Toshiba laptop from my friend, who bought it brand new on Christmas. The computer originally came with Windows 8 but his brother apparently installed Windows 7 early on. When I bought the computer I noticed it was a little slow and cluttered with my friends files (but otherwise ran fine), so I decided to do a system restore. To ensure that all junk was deleted, I chose the earliest system restore point. Now whenever the computer starts, it freezes on the Starting Windows screen. I've tried booting in Safe Mode, low-res, nothing seems to work. I've also tried many of the solutions in Startup Repair including a system restore to a later point than what I had selected previously, did a memory scan, and pretty much everything else in that Startup Repair menu and nothing seems to be giving me any luck. Since I bought this computer used, I don't have a Windows 7 installation disc. The only way I can think to do a fresh install of Windows 7 would be with my USB external hard drive, putting a bootable install of Windows 7 on the drive with another computer. Anyone know how I could do this? Or have any other suggestions as to how I could get my computer working again?

Answer:Did a system restore on a Toshiba laptop, now Windows 7 won't start

You can clean install from a ten dollar 4 GB USB flash drive.

But you'll ultimately need a Windows 7 Product Key. Not sure why you didn't get that from the friend's brother as part of the purchase.

You may be able to get a Windows 8 recovery disk from Toshiba.

Toshiba upper-end laptops come with a "system control panel" above the function keys on the keyboard. The buttons on the panel control, among other things, sound volume. But when you press the + or - to increase or decrease the volume, the buttons make annoying, loud beeps. Is there any way to turn the beeps off?

Would not be asking this here if the Toshiba manual addressed it, but (as they usually are), the manual is wanting.

Hi Folks
I have a Toshiba Laptop i3 64 bit

Yesterday got a warning message saying a problem with the cooling system has been detected . Please turn off the computer immediately and return it for service.

I am using my other laptop to post this thread.

From what I can see, I think Toshiba has always had this problem around.

The laptop is under the 1st year warranty. So I will return for repair.

Trouble is, I have seen horrendous reports of the repairer wiping the hard disk and things like that.

Can anybody advise me on what the real problem is, so I can make sure they do the job properly.

The obvious thing for me, is the fan needs replacing and maybe a clean out for dust etc.

The machine was purchased 5 months ago.

Thanks for any help.

Answer:A problem with the cooling system has been detected - Toshiba Laptop

Just got in touch with Toshiba and they instructed me to blast the dust out using the airspray can, which I did and everything is fine now. So I found the answer. They recommend you do this about every 4 months.

I recently bought a new Satellite L300D and then promptly proceeded to get it infected with a virus.
I didn't have anything on the computer yet that I couldn't afford to lose, so rather than try and fix it I decided to recover the system to factory state.

I started the HDD recovery wizard and I think I interrupted it at the beginning of the process (because I needed to move the laptop and wouldn't be able to leave it plugged in to finish).

When I tried to start the process again I get an error shortly after beginning. The wizard starts by preparing partitions, and then gives me an error:
ERROR: F3-FF00-0020
An error has occured.
Please press OK to turn off the computer.

What's happening here? What are my options?

Thanks.

Hi,
firstly i want you to forgive my broken english (it's not my mother tongue)

I have installed Windows 8.1 on my old (but very good) *Satallite A350-122 PSAL6E-02300SFR* and i was really satisfied till i tried to install my drivers downloaded from the Toshiba support center. No one were made for Windows 8.1 x64 but some could finally be installed but the others like the webcam and mouse drivers don't; so i looked for it on internet but it seems like they (Toshiba) didn't thought some one can some day install that OS on that computer espacialy.

So my question is: Can some one help me with it? i would be very gratefull.

Thanks

Answer:Why some WIn 8.1 drivers don't work on Satellite A350-122?

This old Vista notebook is not supported for Win8 so Toshiba doesn't offer any driver, tool or utility for it. Generally speaking webcam driver doesn't exist anymore and Toshiba doesn't offer it for Win8.
Webcam driver is part of the Win8 system.
>... it seems like they (Toshiba) didn't thought some one can some day install that OS on that computer espacialy.
Toshiba cannot offer support for all notebook models, especially models offered long time ago.
I have the same model and use it with Win7 32bit. It is fully supported and works perfectly.
I really don't understand why do you use Win8 on this old piece of hardware.

My advice for you is to use Win7 on it.

I'd get a xD card reader and manually copy them off. It's faster and doesn't require Fuji's software to do so.As for the software, hard to say. Try different USB ports (even the ones in the back of the computer) or try reinstalling the software.

Hi denis,

Is it maybe listed with yellow exclamation mark in device manager? With error code 19? I ask this because in the Microsoft Knowledge Base I have founded this interesting article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Furthermore it would be interesting to know if the drive is recognized in BIOS or not because in worst case you have to replace the whole drive.

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem and hope that anyone can help me.

After two years I had to re-install my satellite laptop with windows vista. Now is the problem that the productkey isn't readable anymore. So I used a little program(productkey86.exe) to get it out of the registry. So far so good. So I installed vista with that productkey but now my computer tells me that I have to activate. When I try to activate microsoft says: the product can't be activated..

Does anybody know what i have to do?

Hope to hear soon of you..

thx

Edwin

Answer:Re: Satellite A350 - Can't activate Vista

Hey,

The problem is that the key on bottom side is an OEM license key and doesn?t work with normal Vista installation disks. So that?s the problem why you can?t activate your Vista installation.

You wrote that you have a Vista installation disk. Why you don?t use the key that belongs to this disk? This would work ;)

Answer:Where do I find the XP drivers for Satellite A350-200

Hi

At this time the Toshiba European driver page does not provide XP drivers fro the A350.
Maybe such drivers will be released in the next time.. let?s hope?

Until then you could collect the XP drivers at your own hand? you could use some single XP drivers released for other Toshiba notebooks? many series uses the same devices and therefore some single drivers should run too.

Hi

Can some guide me in degardin Satellite A 350 from Vista to XP?

Answer:Satellite A350 - Downgrade from Vista to XP

Hi!

And what do you want to know?

If you want to install Windows XP on the notebook you must only boot from the installation disk and follow the screen instructions ? That?s all!

But don?t forget to install the SATA drivers. Otherwise I think your HDD will not be recognized.
And before you install XP you should burn the Toshiba recovery disk if you didn?t this already. So you can restore the factory settings every time that you want.

I just purchased a brand new Satellite A350-02T laptop. I've only used it twice, and both times I've used it, the touch pad, at some point, has stopped working. Well, not "stopped", but becomes flakey, figitty, freezes, stalls... it's kind of hard to explain.

It will move a bit then freeze, then move a bit and freeze.

Also, I noticed yesterday when I was using it, the scroll option stopped working. I was viewing a .pdf document and it was allowing me to scroll one second, and then the next second, I couldn't scroll. I tried opening the web browser and scrolling but it still wouldn't let me. I rebooted the computer and it seemed fine again.

Any suggestions?

I put this here instead of the wireless forum cos I thought people with knowledge of the actual system may know better.

I have a A350 and it came installed with this wireless manager that runs at start up, it always has a no entry sign on it when I look at it saying no wireless devices detected.

Whats it for? I've used mobile broadband through a USB stick and it hasn't "managed" that. It doesn't manage my connection to my router either, nothing happens when I shut it down.

Thanks :)

Answer:Satellite A350 - What is the wireless manager?

Hi buddy,

I would give you a proper answer but what wireless manager you mean exactly?
Do you mean Config Free tool?

Here is the description from Toshiba page:
+ConfigFree is a suite of utilities to allow easy control of communication devices and network connections. ConfigFree also helps you to find communication problems and create profiles for easy switching between location and communication networks.+

Laptop have only a few months so is it normal? Do I have to use guaranty repair?

Answer:Re: Battery discharges by itself - Satellite A350

This behaviour is nothing unusual and I have noticed it on my Satellite A300. Last time I checked it battery looses 7% power over night. You can contact nearest service and ask why this happen but you will see that they will confirm that this is normal and do not happen just on your notebook model.

Don't worry about that.

I have a problem with my Satellite A350

I bought this laptop from a trusted auction, not on the net, with the password attached unfortunately this password don?t work, but the auction house clams it does,
What is happening is when I turn it on the first screen you see wants a password, I put in the so called password that was given to me but it wont work. When I try to get into the BIOS setup it still wants the password before I can continue.

This computer is using Vista and I cant even put the Vista disk back in because the DVD drive wont work because the op system has not booted
I hope some one knows how to by pass the password or can help me. I have tried removing the internal battery but no go, my email is [email protected] if you want me to explain things better

Thanks to every one
Col

Answer:Satellite A350 - How can I remove the password?

Hi Col!

These are not so good news?

I?m not a Satellite A350 owner but if you want to remove the password you should contact an ASP and ask for help. The notebook technicians are know how to remove the password and so I think they can help you at best.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:

Hi,

I bought my new A350 laptop 3-4 weeks ago and i'm loving the SOUND QUALITY!!

Anyway, I want to disable the mouse pad but I can't. I have the user guid on my laptop, which says, Touch Pad :Pressing FN + F9 enables or disables the touch pad function. Sadly it does not! when I do press it nothing happens, I do not see a change in the Touch Pad icon, which apparently, if done right should have a big red X or something like that, but again it does not happen.

I've also looked the mouse properties of my mouse, and when I select the Advanced tab, then Advance feature settings...., under Touch Pad settings, there is no option to disable it which is higly strange. There is another settings button for that which I can press, but there is no option to disable it.

What should I do to disbale the touch pad, because at the time of writing this, hitting FN + F9 does not work?

Answer:Satellite A350 - Cannot disable Touchpad

Hi

What OS do you have and are you running the factory settings or have you installed your own Windows?

I think you should try to reinstall the touchpad driver and the Value Added Package. The Toshiba VAP controls the special function like the FN or illumination keys. You can find all on the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers

So remove the touchpad driver and VAP, restart the notebook and install the newest versions.

Hey, i just purchased a A350 and i have a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz Processor but i want to upgrade to about 2.4-2.6ghz. These are my questions.

1. Is it possible to do?
2. Is it worth doing?
3. I have a Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. This has confused me to do i have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.

I have general knowledge about computers but im not a an expert. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Thank You.

Answer:Satellite A350 - Can I upgrade the CPU to 2.4 or 2.6Ghz

> 1. Is it possible to do?
Nothing is impossible but the question is if it?s advisable?. In my opinion it?s not advisable. First of all the CPU upgrade will cancel your warranty. Secondly nobody would be able to say if the notebook would run stable after such upgrade and if the BIOS would support if correctly. There is a high risk of overheating because the stringer CPU creates more heat dissipation which would lead to a higher temperature?
Last but not least you will not notice a big performance boost.

>2. Is it worth doing?
In my opinion it?s not worth. Check the point 1.

> 3. I have a Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. This has confused me to do i have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.
I?ve got a Satellite notebook equipped with CORE2 DUO T8100 (2.1GHZ) CPU and I?ve got the same Intel Centrino sticker.
The Centrino sticker means that the CPU supports this technology but it does not mean that this is Centrino CPU.

For more details regarding Intel Centrino technology please check this Intel page:

Many notebooks models use the same devices and in most cases the drivers are compatible with different notebook series.

I recommend testing some Win XP drivers which were released for other notebook models like Satellite A300 and similar?

Hi,

I just bought my Toshiba Satellite A350-12D laptop two weeks ago, and am generally pleased with it, however I cannot get it to read data-DVD's properly.

When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.
When I try to copy the data on the DVD to my laptop, it takes forever (I've tried once for 45 minutes and then gave up) and after a while it starts claiming it can't read most of the files on the DVD.
It's not the data on the disks that's causing problems, cause when I transfer those from my desktop to my laptop on a USB stick instead of a DVD, the files are copied immediately without a problem.

At first I figured it might be due to the DVD disks themselves (I use TDK DVD+ROM), or maybe Vista was the culprit, but I've tried the exact same disks on my friend's Medion laptop that's also running Vista and she's having no issues whatsoever.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or better yet, what could solve it?

Thanks in advance!

Eva

Answer:Issues with CD/DVD drive on Satellite A350-12D

> When I try to read a data DVD that I burned on my desktop PC, the laptop starts to read but takes very, very, very long.

Hmm? I think this could be a problem of non-fully compatible DVDs.
My notebook?s drive couldn?t read or write some DVDs from different manufacturers.
I tested many disks and now I?m using TDK DVD-R.

But it?s always different?. Possibly your drive would not support this disk properly but another disk would be supported better?

I think you should test it simply?. There are many different disk manufacturers? so don?t give up buddy?
