toshiba c655 bios reset, how do you reset the bios on a toshiba c655. running windows 7

Preferred Solution: toshiba c655 bios reset

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:toshiba c655 bios pw reset. HELP!!!

Unfortnately you are not a known, seasoned member of this forum. Helping to hack BIOS passwords is a NO-NO with newbies in my book.

We just can't guarantee who you are, or why you need to knock out this password. You could be trying to hack a corporate laptop for all we know.

Sorry...

Question: Toshiba C655 USB

I am running Win7 64bit.

So for some reason my USB ports does not read anything except my Nikon SLR - Apple Ipod and phone among other devices have all been successfully run from these ports, but as of a couple days ago - the PC fails to recognize anything except the camera.

I am wondering if this is a firmware issue and where is the USB 2.0 firmware download?
Also when viewed in Device Manager - none of the entries show any exclamation points or failure - I'm totally stumped.

Unfortunately I regularly remove old restore points to save disk space - as of yesterday - I had only 1 restore to choose from, but when attempting to choose that - it would reboot the pc and when it came to the desktop - it would tell me the restore failed and nothing had been changed - said it might have been due to a antivirus program, but I disabled them and tried it again and same thing.

I currently have the latest BIOS 1.30 & legacy USB support is enabled.

This pc is a Toshiba C655 S5512.

Answer:Toshiba C655 USB

So far I have not determined the cause - I performed a clean boot via the msconfig options - doesn't appear to be software, but am totally stumped at why the Nikon is recognized by the pc and nothing else (either port).

Now, as of 2 1/2 days ago - when I plug the Nikon into a port (doesn't matter which one), after attempting to copy files to the pc, it will cut power to the Nikon device.

So it sounds like the ports are on their way out ugh.

Question: Toshiba C655 USB

My usb ports went out a couple weeks ago and am lost at how else to use USB devices without those ports.

Any other solutions to this? I have a ethernet port but this pc is rather basic.

Toshiba c655 s5512

Also I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers under DM, so don't ask about that.

Answer:Toshiba C655 USB

If you connect some device, do you see if it is receiving power? (mice light up, HDDs start vibrating and whirring, or some lights flash)

Can you check the manual that there isn't some key or key combination that disables/enables the ports?

Can you install the latest chipset driver from here (I know it says it is not USB drivers, but the chipset is the component actually controlling USB ports anyway)?

I am thinking of upgrading my Toshiba Satellite C655 with a faster CPU and am wondering if anyone can tell me which CPU's are compatible with this laptop? At this time it has a AMD V140 Processor 2.30ghz. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S50851. Thank you for any information you can give me.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite C655 CPU compatibility

As a general rule with laptops, CPU upgrades don't really give decent increases in performance. Increasing system memory to max allowed and installing a bigger faster hard drive will give you the most "bang for the buck"...

Answer:My Toshiba Satellite C655 battery does not charge at all.

Remove battery but keep the charger plugged in. Can you run your laptop now on the charger alone ? If your answer is yes, then your battery or its charging circuitry might be at fault. If your answer is no, then your charger is at fault.CoolGuy

Let me start off by saying I am not very tech savvy lol

I have been having issues with this laptop lately. When I try to do updates on things such as Adobe and I have to choose between 32 or 64 bit, it recommends 32 bit, but I'm supposedly running on 64..

It takes forever to load pages on the internet, and now I can't even see video content through sites like youtube. I have all these services running that I don't even know what they are or if they should be running, can anyone help me get this laptop running better?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite C655 running horribly help pls

Hi, we need more info on your system, to begin 2 gb, on a 64 bit system is not going to cut it, you do need 4 gb of RAM, so this would be my first consideration.

Very hard to read your screen shots in a meaningful way, go to start search and type cmd, right click on the returned cmd.exe and select "run as administrator" at the prompt copy paste:-

Code:
echo > 0 & tasklist /v >> 0 & net start >> 0 & systeminfo >> 0 & echo >> 0 & notepad 0
press enter, please copy paste the notepad outcome here.

BTW:- from the systeminfo cmd you can delete the windows updates(hotfixes) we don't need them, will reduce the size of the post.

The problem started a few days ago. My toshiba satellite c655 wouldn't boot. It hangs on the boot screen showing the windows logo and would beep 4 times then start again. I ran the utility to diagnose the problem and it said it couldn't find anything. I can enter safe mode and eventually my computer will stop beeping and will work normally. Yet, every time from then on my computer will hang on the windows screen and beep before it starts. I 'd like to the solve the problem before my computer completely refuses to turn on. I can't find the p.o.s.t. codes for my bios. I am wondering if my keyboard is the cause of this problem because most of the keys aren't working. I am using an external keyboard now.

Toshiba Satellite C655 Laptop cannot restore to factory settings with or without OEM Toshiba rescue disc.

In short, I attempted to replace bad hard drive. First, I used spotmau to partition and format the replacement drive. Then, I changes the boot settings to usb dvd. I booted to the OEM Toshiba rescue disk to reinstall windows 7, 64-bit os. I used both a LG Super multi drive to install the rescue disk, and the laptop's actual optical drive/disk tray to no avail. The first of four disks did download. The second disk of four failed to complete the process.

I bought this laptop for a great deal less than a month ago but the return policy was the first of January. On the 8th I spilled a water bottle by accident from doing some school work and not paying attention to how close it was. I know that it is a horrible choice to eat/drink around technology. I quickly turned it off, took out the battery, tipped it upside down to get some water out, then i took the keys off and dried it all underneath them, next i waited about 6 hours and was so worried i turned it back on and everything was working fine until I tried typing =( I knew i should wait longer so i turned it back off and waited 30 hours and it still wasn't typing right i.e press k kj90 comes up. Then I decided to just use a usb keyboard and do the rice thing to the actual keyboard. Now I am still using the usb one which can get annoying but I can live and it has been over 4 days since the accident occurred. Is it possible that it's still drying out some keys work but some of them type other letters that are close by it? Could I buy a similar model keyboard and replace this one? I called Toshiba and they said it wasn't covered and would cost $180 to get it replaced but I don't have that money. I have also checked online for the same keyboard replacement but I didn't find any but similar one's. Thanks

Hi. Does anyone know how to reset the BIOS password for a Toshiba Satellite C660D 19X please? There are a number of very good YouTube videos for almost identical models, but they don't work on this one. The motherboard has changed a bit, and the reset jumpers don't seem to be in quite the same place, if they still exist. This video very nearly has the answer, but it's not quite right for the particular model variant I need:

I think it's very likely there is a similar answer to this problem - it just needs the right person to answer it. Thanks.

You want to reset it, or remove it? Once you enter the original password, there should be an option to do either, but I am not familiar with Toshiba's bios. But you will need the original password.

I have been messing around with my Toshiba laptop for a while and had problems installing 4 gigs of ram into it. My a205-s5847 would not take a 2 gig stick of ram in the main top slot if the lower slot had a stick in it.. for example, My laptop came with two 1 gig slots filling the memory docks. If i upgraded to 3 gigs of ram, I had to have the 2 gig slot in the lower dock. If I wanted 4 gigs, i was SOL. If i wanted 2 gigs only, I could boot with either 2-1gig sticks, or 1-2gig stick in the top slot. Toshiba apparently installed hardware that matched windows vista-32 capabilities. Regardless, the point of this post is for one, to see if anyone has found a fix to this problem, and 2: One person I talked to spoke of resetting your bios, because it was holding the ram timing of my old 1 gig sticks and reseting the bios data would refresh it to the new ram timings.. After days of searching, i finally crossed my fingers and decide to try it.

(this resetting procedure works to remove forgotten passwords in bios, i tested it)

to reset the a205-s8545 laptop bios, you must remove your memory sticks and find a J1 jumper that is zig zagg and gold. it is directly under your memory and ****ed to the left side of the memory docks. I did this with my battery in, and held a screwdriver to short it for 25 seconds human count. human count is, not actual seconds, i just counted to 25 in a slow manner. I tried to replicate this with 15 human count seconds and it did not work. I... Read more

Hello,
i was wondering if someone could tell me why when reseting the bios password via jumpers on motherboard is it stated that 1 of the 2 memory sticks should be left in the FIRST slot (the one furthest from motherboard)?

I ask because the top/FIRST memory slot on the motherboard of my laptop (please see title) is broken.

Can I perform try to reset by leaving a memory stick in the second slot (closest to the motherboard)?

Many many thanks

2. If you KNOW the password this is the procedure
http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Comput...-UEFI-BIOS-or-HDD-hard-disk-drive/ta-p/407769
If you know the password for the BIOS or UEFI or don't have one set, you can change or remove a password through the UEFI/BIOS settings, Hardware Setup Utility, or TOSHIBA Security Assist Utility.
As explained on the link with the sub links to the appropriate OS

So i have been trying to get this Toshiba Tecra A8/ Satellite Pro 120 to boot but when I push power it goes directly to a screen that says "Password = " and after a few attempts it says Not Certified Shutting down system.

I opened the laptop up to see if i could find any jumpers to clear CMOS and i found two solder plates and the words RESET above them. I shorted the two plates while pushing power and the boot started but then held up. I released the short and the computer began to boot but then went to the normal password screen but this time it said "ALERT: System protection failure! Password = "

I am assuming that maybe i cleared the BIOS password but when it starts to boot and sees there is a password on the hard drive it gets confused and sends the error saying the system protection has been tampered with. However when i boot without a hard drive it does the same thing.

Does anybody have any suggestions or previous experience with this message. A google search only showed three sites in Spanish with that phrase so i guess its not too common. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Everybody

I?m from Ukraine. My friend bought laptop Satellite C655-S5507. After a week he got a black screen while turning on laptop. Laptop was bought in USA, and there is no possibility to send it in an official service center.
It seems to be that BIOS crashed. I have an experience in laptop repairing, and I?m sure that this is problem with BIOS.

I went on an official Toshiba web-site on support page, to get BIOS file (I'd like to use USB programmer, to flash the BIOS), but there are no such a model (C655-S5507). I've read that this model was produced for some stores in USA, and there are no official drivers for it and also bios file.

Please send it (BIOS file) there or on email ([email protected]) , because laptop without it will be sold by parts, and there are no possibility to repair it without original BIOS file :( .

Answer:Need BIOS file for Satellite C655-S5507

You are right. This is US notebook model. Problem is that I cannot find anything on this US support page.

My advice is to post this on US Toshiba forum http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Computers/ct-p/c_laptops/tshb and hopefully someone there will be able to help.

Well, I chose the boot as "legacy bios only" after receiving the x220. I did a clean install of Win7 ultimate 64bits (which means the setting soft provided by Lenovo does not work) and then updated the BIOS to 1.15. After all these, the machine runs mostly fine but I noticed that I could not log into the BIOS setup any more. Pressing F1\F2\F12\thinkVamtage when the bootup screen shows up (press thinkVantage bottom....), and nothing happens. It does not beep as it did before and does not respond to the buttom press. That means I could not choose bootup device either - it will log into Windows from HDD no matter how you tried to boot from other devices. Any ideas on the problem? And I guess resetting the BIOS might solve the problem, but how? Any help is appreciated.

Answer:Can not log into x220 BIOS? How to reset BIOS setting without entering BIOS setup?

Try turning the system completely off, then power it on and press F1.I've seen strange cases where pressing F1 doesn't work on a warm boot.  It always works on a cold boot.

I am look for a last ditch help on fixing the BIOS/POST problem on a perfectly fine E6230
I was attempting to make a powered eSATA cable work when I enabled the SATA 4 and SATA 5 button in the BIOS.

I have been told it is a motherboard failure but this is too co-incidental!

A search shows that for INSPIRON laptops the BIOS can be unpacked and re-FLASHED to reset.
Does anyone know how to achieve this with the DELL Latitude Laptop or another way to reset the BIOS setting please?

I found somewhere that is the problem of the BIOS and should be updated. The Official ASP toshiba costs ? 67 plus shipping for resetting the BIOS. Somewhere I found that pressing CTRL, TAB, CTRL and ENTER Response Code asks.
The ASP can provide this code for free?

Thanks.

Hi,

To be honestly, I have no idea about these codes. Try to contact Asp ask them if they provide this code, Don't think if anyone can response this issue in this forum.

I have a Toshiba M400 and i was wondering how i could reset the bios password. I disabled the finger print scanner recently becuase i decided i dont need it anymore but it still asks for a bios password which i forgot. I used to just swipe my finger and it would let me boot up and all that gravey.

If you guys know how to reset the password. Either physically or through software that would be awesome.

Or if you guys know who is the bios manufacturer for Portege M400's I could probebly give them a call and ask my self.

I could send it in but I want to avoid that and leave it as a last option.

BTW this laptop was purchased in USA.

Answer:Reset BIOS password on Portege M400 - Bios Manufacturer?

You will be not able to remove the BIOS password yourself if you have forgotten it.
As far as I know the manufacture of the BIOS which was preinstalled on Port?g? M400 is......... Toshiba ;)

So you have to contact the authorized Toshiba service provider in your country and only these guys are able to remove the BIOS password which you have forgotten.

Ok...Found a way around.  Phyically removed the SSD and I can once again enter the BIOS and boot off USB and the CD. Rapid Drive was competely incompatible with software I need to run, so was attempting to install a clean copy of Windows and to boot only off the hard drive.  In doing so, I removed the SSD from the Boot list in the BIOS.  After doing so, the system became incapable of booting off of any media.  When I press F2 during post, I just get "Please Wait..."   Pressing F12 just locks up on the logo screen.  Does the system not work when the SSD is removed from the bootable devices in BIOS?  How can I reset my fancy new brick?

Im working on a Toshiba Laptop A105-4284, Model #: PSAA8U-0FH02K that froze while trying to flash the BIOS, so I didnt know what else to do but shut it off. Now, when I try to boot it up, it gets stuck in the same place it did during the flashing; on the Toshiba splash screen with the status bar at the bottom showing about 20% complete. I cant get into the BIOS and cant boot into Windows. Other options available on this screen are Press F2 for System Settings and F12 for Boot Menu. Pressing F2 results in a beep and the status bar changing to "Please Wait..." but nothing else happens no matter how long I wait. Pressing F12 doesnt do anything. Pressing ESC takes me to a screen that shows the typical system info -- Phoenix Technologies Version 6.00; Intel Calistoga CRB.T3A Reference BIOS; VERSION.MAK 1.53; (looks like its running POST and recognizes CPU, Cores, No TPM or TPM has a problem, and system RAM and stops there. What is my best course of action?:

- shorting out the CMOS battery (I've tried this on the solder pads marked C88, with no laptop battery, with and without the wi-fi, ram and hdd installed; Im either doing it wrong or its just not working )
- trying to reflash BIOS chip (I tried this; turned the laptop on and held down the 'c' key to boot from cd, but still got stuck at the same place)
- replacing the BIOS chip
- something else?

Any guidance or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Im trying to figure out why I've had no replies yet.

Have I asked a stupidly easy question that everyone is rolling their eyes to and cant bear to tell me the answer? Or have I stumped everyone?

I have a hard time believing this is a stumper. I've found the same question posted elsewhere on the net and shorting the CMOS seemed to help. That or removing the battery altogether (its soldered to the board), but I dont think Im doing it right. Can someone give me directions on that?

or is this just a lost cause? :-/

Question: Toshiba Reset

I need help. I bought a Toshiba Satellite Laptop with Windows Vista on it from Pawn Shop. The previous owner had it password protected. The pawn shop had the wrong password. I try booting in safe mode, but still have to enter password to gain access.

Please help, I can't change nothing. I just wanna restore it to factory settings, but the password is required. What do I do?

I can access a sub account but it's locked by Admin and requires password for everything. PLEASE HELP!

Answer:Toshiba Reset

Hello Mr. Franchise, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I'd say that in this case that you would need to return to the pawn shop and either have them reset or exhange it for you, have them give you a copy of Vista with valid product key number, or buy a retail copy of Vista to format and install on your laptop.

I was told to press f12 when restarting to get to the boot menu which I did and I was then told to select 'HDD' recovery and press enter. This part confuses me as it's not there, I can see 'Built-in HDD1 Toshiba MK12376SX' but that's not it so I clicked 'enter setup'

Once in I can see' Built-in HD Password Select' and 'Set HDD User Password' under the security tab and 'Built-in HDD1 Toshiba MK12376SX-(S1)' under the boot tab.

Neither of these seem to be it so I tried f1 which is help which literally says <f9> loads Factory installed Setup Default values.

Thinking this would be it I clicked it. It said Load default configuration now? So I clicked yes and it told me to exit while saving changes so I said yes.

Nothing has worked, how do I completely wipe the laptop? Like with a phone factory reset, how do I do that with my laptop?!?

So there's no password or saved pictures or saved songs or anything at all!? Can you please help?

Hi Guys,

Right i've encountered a major problem, i needed to reset my laptop to its factory settings, so therefor i followed out procedures as normal, it started resetting, but when it got to 36% it just stopped froze and shut dwn the laptop. Is anyone able to help me on this situation, as i am in major need of my laptop.

Thanks Sam.

Answer:My Toshiba Will Not Reset. Gets To 36% and freezes

Hello Sam

Sorry but how to help? You didn?t write which notebook model you have? How you make recovery installation? Do you use recovery DVD or you have started HDD recovery installation?
I would like to have possibility and read your minds but unfortunately it doesn?t work. ;) Just a joke!

If you use recovery DVD I see two reasons there: either is recovery DVD damaged and some DVD data cannot be read properly or the HDD has some problem.

Hi all,

This is my first post on here so apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I am having great difficulty with factory resetting my Toshiba Satelite laptop.

I have searched and searched online on how to perform this factory reset and although many have suggested holding the 0 key whilst booting up or the F8 key, neither of these seem to work.

When attempting to turn on my laptop whilst pressing either of these keys, I hear loud beeping and although I continue to hold either the 0 key or F8 button, it never proceeds to the boot up menu.

Can anyone on this forum please shed some light on what I appear to be doing wrong?

As Windows 10 has upgraded on my laptop I felt it would be a good start to back up my data and have a fresh out of the box laptop.

I look forward to any suggestions you may have!

Thanks,
Gary

If the manufacturer set up your PC to run from a compressed Windows image file (also known as Windows image file boot or WIMBoot) and included the option to restore factory settings, that option will no longer be available after you upgrade to Windows 10.

Hi

I'm trying to do a factory reset on a Toshiba Satellite A200-244 laptop that's running in Windows Vista, but don't have a CD to do this. I've tried the 'How to Factory Restore your Computer' on here but can't get past Step 4 under 'Toshiba'... there is no 'Restore Application'.

Any idea how I can get this sorted?

want to completely wipe laptop to factory settings as cant access certain things due to previous owner

Answer:factory reset toshiba satellite

You or the previous owner should have made a set of recovery discs with the Toshiba Backup Media utility when the laptop was working okay (preferably when the laptop was first purchased new). There is no way to do a factory restore without that set of discs.Toshiba will supply you with a set of their own recovery discs for a small charge if you didn't bother make your own and Windows won't run properly. If you first want to try to make your own and Windows is working reasonably well, go to Start >> All Programs >> Toshiba >> Toshiba Recovery Media CreatorThat's where it is on my Toshiba laptop but mine is Windows 7 and only 3 years old.If you don't have any such utility on yours, go here and order Backup Media (recovery discs):https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/But be aware it depends how old your model is. They don't have recovery discs for models made before a certain year (2007 I think). If yours is too old, you'll have to search around for a cheap copy of XP, install it, then get the laptop drivers from Toshiba's website. They keep drivers even for very old models.

HAD WINDOWS 8 changed to windows 7 and then it just stopped I took it to a friend and they brought it back saying "NO BOOTABLE DEVICE -- INSERT BOOT DISK AND PRESS ANY KEY" can u please help?

Answer:Toshiba reset to factory settings

You can't put Windows 7 on just any laptop you want. You first have to check the Toshiba drivers page to see if they have any Windows 7 drivers for that model (which they probably don't).However, your problem is more serious judging by the error message. It seems your hard drive has failed so you need to replace it.Then order a set of recovery discs (backup media) for that model through Toshiba's website. The ordering page is here: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landi...message edited by phil22

Toshiba satellite c59-b-153. Purchased on eBay so did a full reset but now can't get past Toshiba Leading Innovation page.

Opens on this page then goes dark, then fan starts up again and page comes back on and it just continues this on a loop. I have tried holding zero button when you turn it on as forums suggest but this doesn't work.

F12 works and takes me to boot menu but there's no hdd restart. F2 gets me to bios pages but I wouldn't know what to do on these pages. Previous owner had set up bios passwords both user and manager so I have deleted them.

I have reset the time and date too as when I take the battery out and replace to start up again the message rtc battery is low comes on. I have also kept it on overnight in case it was the cmos battery but this hasn't worked either.

The laptop was working fine before i did the reset.

Any help much appreciated.

Computer-- Toshiba Satellite A205-S4639
Problem- Displays Bios password/and after working on it, screen is now black (barely visible)

Ok after hours and hours of research and reading of alot of useless info heres what I have assessed.

1. Removing the CMOS Battery does NOTHING. (though many post this works. It doesnt, so dont bother removing it then having to have another headache of soldering it.)

2. There is NO Master Password, if there is it is solely known by Toshiba Techs (who must obviously sign some agreement to not release said info- that way toshiba makes a easy 150-200.00 a pop just to type a password in the bios.)
I typed in so many Phoenix passwords, any I found, and all the others too that werent even Phoenix bios MPW. I did all the other steps listed as well. This was a waste of time as well. So dont bother.

3. I made the boot disk of an ISO file from Paragon site, it didnt work. Just starts up same as always asking for Bios password. Will NOT boot from disk, tried holding "C" Key to make it boot from CD. NO luck. I even removed harddrives to it had only one source to boot from. NO luck.

4. So last option, is to flash the eeprom called "24C02" or something. Where is this located on the motherboard? Does anyone have a picture? How exactly do i go about this?

My other issues is since I have started this project (course of 2 months now) the screen now is pratically black. I have angle it and sqint just to see the screen in... Read more

Hi all,

I would like to hard reset my Toshiba Satellite because none of my programs (Except Safari) can't connect to the internet.

The fact is that I bought this Toshiba under Windows Vista and I would like to keep Windows 7 (that I bought directly online)

So can I keep Windows 7? And how can I reset this PC properly?

Thanks for helping me!

Answer:Hard Reset a Toshiba Windows 7 and keep curent OS

As long as you have the key for Windows 7 you should be fine. You could do an upgrade installation on top of Windows 7. However I do not recomend this. You still need to know your Windows 7 Key to do this.

I would Reinstall Vista and then Reinstall Windows 7.

Answer:reset toshiba laptop to factory settings

I'm not too sure what the proper key combination Toshiba used when they originally built this system but if you are fairly confident you are doing it right then there is a possibility that the HD was either re-partitioned or replaced. If either of these scenarios turns out to be true then you will have to go into the bios (system setup) screen and set it to boot from the cd-rom and use an original system disk to format and reload the system. The way manufacturers design systems to be able to return to as new condition is they originally partition the HD with a hidden partition that you can only access with this key combination at boot. In this otherwise unaccessible partition are all the system files, applications, drivers etc that came with the system. This is why once the HD is re-partitioned or replaced this option will not work.

fyi, i am able to navigate the desktop so the pc is running, alebit slowly

Answer:unable to do factory reset on toshiba laptop

If the Partition for Recovery is missing or damaged you may have to order recovery disc`s  from Toshiba { At a Cost }.

You can see if the Recovery Partiton is actually there ?
Control Panel /   Administrative Tools / ComputerManagement  / Disc Management
If it is , it shoud be about 10 - 20 Gig in size and named Recovery.

As you have already tried from F8 to enter recovery , you may also try from Start / Programs / Toshiba Folder / Recovery / if its listed.

If all else Fails , provided you have a valid Product Key on laptop , you coould download Operating System ISO and burn to disc and Install.
This will not have Drivers or Toshiba Apps , you will have to get them later , if you wish to have them.

Salutations.

The laptop in question is a toshiba satellite laptop model # a10-S169.

Recently my friend who is a computer newbie somehow enabled, or somebody maliciously enabled a bios password or a user-id password that I believe to be unique toshiba satelite laptops. (I may be incorrect on this but I think the toshiba satellite laptops have a unique function referred to as user-id password. if anyone is familar please specify)

I was curious, if anyone had additional information on this model such as the name of bios and if obtaining a "backdoor password" for the bios would be a possible method of gaining access to computer. I've tried common passwords as "Toshiba" which is said to bypass common password functions based upon Toshiba mechanisms.

Again; does anyone know the name of the bios for this model laptop?

(I have the documentation for laptop however it is relatively vague in terms of the specific name of bios or any help options. also; it mentions the user-id password utility however does not specify how to bypass, or a backdoor password, or any other additional information.)

I realize that I may be able to unplug bios battery, or alter the jumper switches to reset the bios information however I would prefer solving this without altering any hardware components.

I would appreciate any assistance.

thanks

Hi, Since my desktop is full of stuff I can't seem to get rid of, I decided to reset my Toshiba Satellite A300-1M9 to factory settings/out-of-the-box state. Methods such as the '0 + power button'-method don't work on this model. I've lost my CD/DVD and I can't seem to acquire a new one (it's not for sale), plus the fact that I rather don't buy a new one. I can't find how to reset my Toshiba Satellite A300-1M9 to factory settings! Please help me. Yours sincerely,E. Mathijssen

Answer:How to Reset Toshiba Satellite A300-1M9 to Factory Settings?

Well I just checked and keeping the zero key pressed whilst pressing the power button is correct for that model.Your laptop must be turned off first of course, it won't work if the laptop is already turned on.

Is it true when it prompts you for hdd1/ssd1 password you have to get a new hard drive to fix the error? I am trying to help my mother who only god knows what she did, fix her laptop. I have the recovery disk, but they won't load. Laptop is 5 years old but to her its "new". We called toshiba and they have it registered to her and everything but said she had to take it for repair. Its a $200 at best laptop. I told her get a new one, but she wants to fix this "barely used" one of hers. Can anyone help me???message edited by Shantelle

Answer:reset HDD1/SSD1 password for Toshiba laptop

HD/SSD does not require a password to work. It is usually put on there by the user for protection, so that some outsider cannot mess with the contents. For that reason it is odd that it has suddenly come along, unless someone has fiddled with that area and accidentally invoked it. That's why it's tricky unless we know what was typed in.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I want to re set the Toshiba back to factory' and I am just about to through it out the door and jump up and down on it ???????

Answer:Reset Toshiba back to factory settings or else discard PC

What problems are you having? You could certainly do a Factory reset by following the instructions here, https://support.toshiba.com/support... but keep in mind that would delete any of your data or programs you have installed since you got the laptop. So, you'd want to make sure you backup all your data/files before you go through the reset process.message edited by beachyhbt

Hi, I have a random shutting down problem with my 2-years old Toshiba Satellite A665-S6050 laptop. It started with randomly Sleed mode and Hard Shut Down without any warning. It looks like somebody pressed on power button... Last week it started to appear more recently and now sometime my Laptop can not even start up. Computer switch itself off just 5 seconds after I switch it on.

My conclusion is that a problem is with power on/off module on the mother board. I have disassembled everything: RAM, HD, monitor, CD, keyboard, speakers, media buttons, mouse, external connectors and power button harness as well. Remained just motherboard (with CPU, GPU, cooling unit, ventilator, BIOS battery) and external power supply. I make short shorting on connector of power button to power it on, but nothing new - after 5 seconds it switch itself off like power button is still kept pressed.

I was suggested to run Combofix tool to eliminate the software problem.

Could somebody read the attached combofix log file and explain me the result of the scan, please?!

Is any idea how to fix or bypass this issue? Any suggestion will be appreciates!

i just want to know how i enable my factory data reset on my computer basically i have stuff on my computer i cant delete also ive been trying to figure out how to do this since i bought it from a friend and she didnt know how to do it either so alittle help would be much appreciated

Answer:factory data reset for a toshiba laptop windows 7

A factory reset will mean losing all your data, unless you copy it to other media (CD, DVD, external drive, etc.), beforehand. If, for some reason, this can"t be done in Windows (not booting, blue-screens, etc.), download a live Linux CD, and boot from that. Use this to backup all your data.As for the factory reset, different models of Toshiba laptops need different procedures to perform the factory reset. As we don't know the model number of your laptop, we can't give you the information you require. Post back with the model number (on a label underneath), and someone will be able to help. Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.message edited by Sci-Guy

Hi,

I have the Toshiba Satellite L450D-13X Laptop.

It has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit On.

After Windows broke i used the Toshiba Recovery Suite to take windows back to its factory state.

Now whenever i turn the laptop on, it says 'preparing windows for first use' and then it goes to the desktop, but seconds later a toshiba panel comes up and just says 'Finishing Installation' then switches the computer off and the whole process starts again.

What can be causing this?

When it goes to desktop i can quickly close the toshiba program before it loads up and windows works fine until i switch it off then the whole process starts again?

Completely confused?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Answer:Toshiba Recovery Suite Computer Reset Problem

Hi

You are not alone with this and some on the Toshiba support forums are mentioning that this reboot can happen for up to 28 times, so maybe worth leaving the laptop on and walking away from it for a few hours.

Then if still doing the same, it could be a bad install.
