effects of Office H&B2011 installed on OffXP

Question: effects of Office H&B2011 installed on OffXP

How do I install Office Home & Business 2011 on a computer running Office XP 2002 . I need to keep Access active; I have downloaded all service packs and upgrades for Office XP. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite L655 laptop with Windows 7 Premium operating system. Help!

Preferred Solution: effects of Office H&B2011 installed on OffXP

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am getting the following error when I try to reinstall a custom setup office XP install on a windows 2000 machine.

"OFFXP: Setup Detects Office XP Running When You Attempt to Install Office XP"

I had the uninstall the office xp on this machine through add/remove programs because it was crashing alot. The custom install works fine on all other windows 2000 and xp machines.

I found the following error in MS knowledgebase
article 292497 (I can't post the link because I'm a new member)

It says to to hit ignore. If I hit ignore it does install but it doesn't install with the correct options for the custom install. (I have it set to not install outlook and it installs outlook, etc.) Obviously its not following the custom install.

Any ideas? I believe something is left on the pc from office when it was installed. I even ran the Removal Wizard on the Office XP Resource kit. It is supposed to remove everything left from previous versions. However, it must be missing something because I am still getting that error when I try to reinstall Office XP that is described above.

ThankS!

With my continuing efforts to assist my brother in tailoring his new ThinkPad (X1 Yoga) laptop, I've recently discovered an unexpected problem relating to Microsoft Office, and specifically (at this point), with Word. As indicated in this post's title, his laptop came with Office 2016? pre-installed. Subsequently, Office 2010? was installed by his I/T staff to eliminate the extra expense of leasing (via Office 365) or purchasing/activating the resident Office 2016 code. But Windows seems determined to make using Office 2010 unnecessarily difficult.

Specifically, regarding Word 2010, with .docx associated with this 2010 version, whenever one clicks on a .docx document, Windows pops up a message stating something like ? this is a rough paraphrase; I can't recall the exact wording ? "This application cannot run on your PC. Please go to the Microsoft store to find an application that will work with this file." However, .docx files open easily from within Word 2010.

Being curious, I'm all for understanding the how's, why's and wherefor's of this seeming impediment, but I don't want to unduly burden any readers/respondents with an explanation. I'd be happy just to learn how to correct this situation; i.e., to be able to click on a .docx file and have it open within Word 2010.

Perhaps it's necessary to uninstall Office 2016. It might be preferable to find another solution, in the event my brother may (at some point) want to go ahead and start using Office 2016. ... Read more

Answer:Pre-Installed Office 2016 "Fighting With" Post-Installed Office 2010

Is the Office 2010 32 bit, like most PCs at that time ? Office 2016 and Office 2010 can run side-by-side only if the bit versions match; ie, both 32 or 64 bit.

Also, if you open a 2010 Word in 2016 Word, there should be a 'compatibility mode' in the document title bar to preserve the layout.

Hi,

When I use mail merge to merge an Excel in to a Word document, the merge
proces does makes a strange conversion or rather a strange round off.

For example the follwing excel rows:
B_HUUR N_HUUR KONTRAKTIN
482,95 482,26 30 april 2003

When I merge it into Word:
482,95 becomes 482,25999999999999
482,95 becomse 482,94999999999999
30 april 2003 becomes 4/30/2003

* When I try this in Office 2000 with the exact same excel sheet, the values
stay as they are, that means no addition of 9999999999.

* In excel the numbers are already exact, so no rounding off takes place in
the excel sheet.

* Both office 2000 as XP are Dutch versions;

* SP1 and 2 are installed only for XP

Please help

Hi everyone,

When I first got my computer (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1), it had a preinstalled trial version of Microsoft Office 2007. I removed it via the control panel (Programs and Features) and installed Office 2010. However, I still get Office 2007 updates via Windows Update. They even installed successfully.
There are no Office 2007 components listed under Programs and Features.

Why am I getting Office 2007 updates although I've got only Office 2010?...

Answer:receiving Office 2007 updates but have got Office 2010 installed

This should help:
How do I uninstall the 2007 Office suites if I cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature?

Am not sure what to do with these updates:

Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553181) 32-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553310) 32-Bit Edition
Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553455) 32-Bit Edition

Windows Updates says they are important.

I do not have Office 2010 installed. Office 2007 is installed.

My security software keeps telling me I am at risk because my operating system is not up to date.

Any thoughts on what I should do?

Answer:Receiving updates for Office 2010 but Office 2007 is installed.

If your computer is relatively new, it may have come with a trial install of Office 2010 - check the Start menu, and the Programs & Features listing.
You may also have installed Viewers for things like PowerPoint 2010, which still require updates.

More than likely your Registry Cleaner has messed up your Windows registry causing your problems.
You might try doing a System Restore to a date/time before you used your Registry Cleaner.

My boss wants me to install Office 2003 standard edition on a client's pc that has Office 2007 standard edition already installed on it. I don't know, why but this is what he wants. Are there going to be major issues with installing and using an older version of Office on the same system as Office 2007?

I plan on buying Office 10 in a few weeks (from my college's store, since I get a nifty discount), however my Toshiba laptop has a pre-loaded trial version of Office 07. I have not put in the trial product key yet, so I haven't activated the trial yet (but I have used Word 07 a couple times, but cancelling out of the product key screen).

What would I do to install Office 10? Do I remove Office 07? Would, after installing Office 10, i'd still get the Office 07 nag inside of Office 10? What do I do?

If I decide to install OpenOffice.org instead, do I then uninstall Office 07? Would my .doc files (from another computer and never opened with Office 07) still look for Office or would they open immediately in OpenOffice.org? Same question if I install Office 10?

How would one go about removing this un-activated trial version of Office 07?

PS: If my college's store has Office 07 instead and since I never activated the trial, how would I go about installing that?

I don't know if maybe I'm the only one who runs into this problem or if it happens to a lot of people, but it seems to come up a lot for me.

I have had this issue on many computers but right now I am setting up an old Dell Latitude E5510 for an employee and I have reformatted, installed all drivers, and programs needed. I installed Office 2007, because this employee won't really be using the computer much.

I start up Windows Updates today and it has me downloading 3 updates for Windows 2010. This computer had Office 2010 on it before it was reformatted. Is it still sensing Office 2010 buried somewhere in the files and that's why it's asking me to install updates for it? Does Office 2007 use updates that are also made for 2010(and are only labled 2010)? Anyone have any ideas? I don't believe it's hurting anything, but I am curious!

Thanks

Answer:Find Office 2010 Updates, When Office 2010 Isn't Installed?

I get those type of updates for my Office 2003. There are some later updates that can be applicable. For example, I installed a converter that lets me open later MSWord formats (2003 is doc) and now I get updates for later Office versions.

What a disappointment in having a new machine that you can't put to immediate use.  I can't activate Office 10 because Lenovo sent me an Office 2007 license. The frustrating part of this is that the 800-426-7378 number is no longer of any value, as you can't talk to anyone. I have spent over an hour trying to figure where in the web site I can this this resolved.  This should be a simple phone call fix, but here I am sharing my problems with people who don't even work for Lenovo.

Answer:Just received my T510 with Office 10 installed, but the license I received is for Office 7

Yeah I feel for you.  It seems like Lenovo is one step behind their competitors when it comes to adapting to things.

It's working fine, but problem is this.....I used to use Lotus SmatSuite Millenium edition and have quite a few docs. saved to CD in the LWP format (Lotus WordPro). Problem is, MSWord cannot read these files. I have looked for viewers/converters to enable me to view these files but all to no avail. I really need to recover these files, but don't know what to do next. I really, really don't want to install Lotus again just to copy off these docs and save in word format. The reason I ditched Lotus in the first place was that it was extremely unhapy on this XP machine!please can anyone help here?ThanksAngeTheHippyx

I have a fairly new laptop loaded with Windows XP SP2 and religously kept updated. I'm happy with the Microsoft Works applications that came with it but occasionally I have the need to open a Powerpoint, Excel, or Word file that someone sends me.

The laptop I use is used routinely as a multi user machine, the wife and I are registered users.

I have a licensed copy of Office 97 which I installed using my login and it works quite well since I'm not asking it to do advanced tasks. On my wife's side of the machine, the Microsoft Office folder appears and in fact contains all the same stuff as it does when I look at it from my view.

The issue is that none of the Office data file suffixes are known. Excel spreadsheets, for example are listed as "XLS file" and Word files are listed as "DOC file". I've tried right-click "Open With..." browse for the Microsoft Office folder --> Office ---> EXCEL... nothing happens.

In the window that contains these files we're sharing I tried Tools --> Folder Options --> File Types. On my login .DOC and .XLS are in the list and on her login they are not. No matter what I do, I cannot make her list contain definitions for DOC and XLS.

Do I need to reinstall Office 97 using her logon? If I do will that screw up my access to the applications?

Appreciate your help,

Many Thanks!

Answer:Old Office 97 CD installed on new XP computer

You need to install it on her account.

But, a better alternative to the Office suite is to install just the viewers. They will open the files you mentioned (including newer formats than 97).

I recently upgraded to Office 2010...all was fine until recently i had this weird problem in Power Point '10.

I added an Entrance effect to a picture quite easily...but when I tried to add an Exit effect I found out that the Entrance effect was being overwritten in the "Animation Pane".
Again on re-adding the Entrance effect..the Exit effect was being overwritten.

FYI this is happening with everything (pics, text boxes, smart art).It seems you can't add two different effects to the same item.
It should be noted that I experienced no such problems with Power Point 2007...there the Entry and Exit effects were added in separate lines in the Animation Pane.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have had this computer for years. Gateway laptop, Windows XP. Microsoft Office 2003. In May 2009 I was fooling around updating and whatever. OOPS! I may have somehow updated Microsoft Office - Now I get a message when I try to use any Microsoft Office - Word, Excel...
The message comes up and says - Microsoft Office has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application.
I am the only user. Administrator. And there are no setup files that can be found. I took it in to a shop and had them reinstall the files. No luck - same message. I didn't have much confidence in the shop and figured they would charge me too much for a (hopeful) simple solution.
I seem to distantly remember this being a problem that was happening to others with the update - (I had an unfortunate death in the family and had to leave my home and computer for a few months until I could get back.) I am now home and ready to tackle this problem.
So what do ya think?

Okay? So after you close out the Office install does it then open the document without an issue? Does this behavior continue through out the day or is it just that one time? Do you shut your PC down at night or leave it on all the time? Are these personal documents or business documents? Are these documents shared or stored on another system or server?

Yeah your just a bit to vague on what the problem is. We need just a tad bit more info.

I hope someone can help me. I bought Office 2010 Home and Student a couple of weeks ago and it was working fine. It's not a disk, just a program key and I'm afraid to uninstall the whole thing to try and solve my problem without some advice from someone who knows a lot more than me I have no idea if that would work anyway.

My problem is that MS Office 2010 has suddenly lost auto correct, grammer, thesaurus... All that works is the dictionary. In Set Office Preferences, clicking Languages tells me the proofing is not installed and when I click on the link it takes me to Micro Soft looking for money for a language program. Also have the I to click on the tabs for review, home, etc. I have looked at all the settings and have restored them back to their default settings, without change. Does anyone have the slightest idea what could be happening? I'm 52 and in college and I am sure out of practice to write 5000 word papers without it.

And that just for starters. Clearly there's some great masterplan that we mere mortals just don't understand - or at least not this one. Perhaps is some mystic way of trying to get me to go Vista.OK - I've got that off my chest, but thinking practically, is there some guidance to help understand where all we used to use can now be found? A manual, a help desk. Or do I simply have to go back to school?

Answer:Just installed Office 2007 - In shock!!+

Then i couldn't find and only show the apps which are already installed in PC. So for same i have to copy a path to find all ms softwares like C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 and then go the access or excel. Why it is not appearing in my search results as well as start windows details. Also just now i checked when i copied the shortcut of word or outlook . And try to add to taskbar then it shows white icon. What happened to this ?? Didn't have this earlierI really want to solve this issue as i have some important files that must need to maintain this software and store.Highly appreciate your help in this matter.thanks

Answer:MS office installed but can't find in windows 8

I would suggest uninstalling the sofware and installing it again. Shouldnt be too difficult to do that, and to be honest it will probably fix your problem more easily than trying to degub the issue and attempt to fix.

I have a new 8.1 laptop with MS Office pre-installed but it doesn't seem to actually do anything except offer a trial of 365.

This is despite the files being over 300 MB ! As listed in Programs & Features.

I have installed a licenced desktop MS Office 2007 application which I prefer and which is working fine.

So is it possible, and safe, to uninstall the pre-installed program?

If so, what is the best way to do it?
Would Iobit uninstaller be OK ?

Answer:How to remove pre-installed MS Office program ?

I uninstalled the supplied MS Office trial, choosing LibreOffice instead (hardly need anything elaborate when word processing, etc). I just used the Programs and Features in Windows 8.1 to remove it. Worked fine for me.

I have been asked to look at a PC which has been running Office XP for several years and been reasonably stable. Last night it was shut down normally and installed 6 updates as it did so.

This morning the default email etc icons had changed to Office 2003. The user had an Office 2003 disc so when it asked for a licence key he typed it in. It then went to activation and refused, saying activation had been already done up to the limit on that key.

Office 2003 didn't work properly, and the old Office XP (particularly Outlook) gave registry errors.

We used System Restore and took it back to 15.00 yesterday where it all was working fine. Initially this gave a working system. On rebooting it again it re-installed the 6 updates and came up with 2003 as the default. I uninstalled 2003 and tried it - Outlook XP was broken. Reinstalled Office XP and all is good.

My question is, would an MS update change the Office version in this way? How on earth did this situation arise? Anyone heard of a similar situation?

Cheers!

IanE

Answer:Office 2003 spontaneously installed itself!

No automatic updates would not change your version of office from XP to 2003. That has to be done by the user.

Hi,
Would it be possible to have Office Standard 2013 and Office Enterprise 2013 on the same computer? For instance, we would like to have standard installed for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. And then have Office Plus/Enterprise installed for Outlook only so that archiving is possible? TIA

Answer:Is it possible to have 2 different editions of office 2013 installed?

Hi guitarplyr, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

It could probably be done by running one in Virtual Machine mode. But I think you may end up with a clash somewhere.

I do not know much about VM mode so I can't advise you on that.

Hi All,Installed MS Office and it automatically replaced Outlook Express with MS Outlook. Lost all my emails now. There was no warning. How can I retrieve my emails from Outlook Express?

Answer:HELP! Installed MS Office and lost emails in OE

It shouldn't have replaced OE with Outlook, it will have made Outlook the default. Open Outlook Express. It should give you the option of making it the default.

First I want to say Thank You to everyone that has helped me in my first few days here. I am coming from xp to 7 and really am on the verge of pulling my hair out.

Ok.. latest thing I've done and now am questioning.. I installed office small business 07 and forgot that included outlook. I hate having a bunch of programs on my pc that I will never touch.. so.. can I somehow just remove the outlook part? If so, how.

........update solved.....

DUH put the disk back in and it does ask for each component. I am not sure running that will take out the things I don't want, but I'm trying it. If it doesn't I can uninstall and redo it the right way. Thanks for not thinking I'm a dummy.. I'm just a very tired grandma who's baby girl turned 39 today!

Answer:installed office 07, but can I remove outlook?

What I've done is go to Control Panel, select Microsoft Office and click Change.

It will then bring up a list of all the components.

From there, you can select which ones to remove.

Good Luck

Hi, I?m thinking of reinstalling windows 7 but I?m not sure how I can reinstall MS office2011. My OEM copy of MS Office came with my PC pre-loaded, I just clicked an Icon to install it. It came with no installation disc or Key, but an application could be used to back up office installation files and other preloaded apps onto a DVD. I?ve attempted a test reinstall, the automated reinstall didn?t work properly, but I could manually reinstall by clicking on a batch file after manually copying the files to the correct folder in \ProgramData\Microsoft. However, the install command line window complains that the prepaid RTC code can?t be found in the registry. A little digging uncovers the correct registry entry is supposed to be found at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\officesoftwareprotectionplatform. There are lots of entries at this point, including one for plugins, I'm not sure which are the correct ones.

My questions are, if I were to put back these registry entries after making a clean install of MS Windows 7, could I reinstall MS Office, or is it simply not possible to reinstall an OEM copy? Also, what does RTC in RTC code mean, does it mean real time clock? Many Thanks

Answer:MS Office 2010 OEM Copy can it be re-installed?

Hi,
This utility will find the key for the office sofware........

http://majorgeeks.com/Magical_Jelly_Bean_Keyfinder_d2612.html

then you can download or ask for a replacement disc from MS.

Just upgraded to Office 365 2016. All OK and very quick.
Have noticed though that while version 2013 was installed to Program Files (64bit) this upgrade has installed to Program Files (x86) which means it's a 32bit application.
Version 2013 was removed by the upgrade.
Wondered if anyone knows why, is 64bit not yet available, which I find strange.
Grateful for any help.

Hi I am running Win XP Home and I have just installed Office XP Pro. I can get everything else working but Outlook won't run.
When I try to run it I get:

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook express 4.01 or greater. You can install Outlook Express by running IE5Setup.exe from the IE5 folder located on your CD or through the Windows Update Website.

I then try to open the suggested file on the CD and I get:

Setup has deceted a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed on this system. Setup cannot continue.

I have gone to the Windows update site and done a check and installed all of the suggested updates and Outlook still doesn't work.

I am going crazy just trying to get to look at my emails!!! Does anyone have any suggestions of how to get it working? or are there any other alternative programs that will do the same job??

Thanks in advance,

Jeff.

Help! I am about to give up and I don't want to!

I purchased my laptop with Vista Home Premium 64-bit back in April, along with Office Home & Student 2007. Office worked fine for a while, but now it tries to reinstall (unsuccessfully) every time I run an app (eg: I get an error such as "Microsoft Office Excel has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application."). I have searched the web, checked the forums, and followed all of the tips given:

- I've changed ownership to myself
- I've run SetACL (see Vista & Office 2007 Error: "not been installed for the current user")
- I've deleted the MSO.dll and OPA12.dat files and restored from previous versions
- I've manually changed permissions for each application
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office
- I am NOT using a pirated version!

I can "Run as Administrator" (which, by the way, does not try to reinstall; it jumps right into the app), but I shouldn't have to!

The only thing I can think of that might have affected this is that at one time I ran a Microsoft System Cleanup Tool for an unrelated situation, and it might have inadvertently done something (I do not remember what the cleanup tool was, however).

I am running Windows Vista 64. When I bought my computer it had a demo version of Office 2007 (Home & Student). I decided I didn't have the money to purchase it so I uninstalled the program.

A family member bought a copy that had 3 licenses so I tried to install it on my computer. It installs, or appears to, but if I try to open ANY of the programs such as Word or Excel, and every time it says to wait while it is installing and configuring, then when it finally opens, I get a message that
says "Microsoft Office Word (or any other program) has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." I click on "ok" and the program vanishes.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled numerous times with the same result. I am running as admin so that isn't the issue. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi all,

Got a question if you please..

We recently installed an SSL cert as we were getting annoyed with the self cert ones.

Since we've installed this SSL cert our out of office isn't working. You can enable it either in outlook or OWA and set the message to both internal and external, but its just not actually being sent internal or externally.

It was working fine before the ssl was installed, but not afterwards. Any idea on where I need to look for this?

Thanks
Matt

Answer:Out of Office stopped working since SSL cert installed

Sorry - I also want to add that all the pc's are for some reason set to use outlook anywhere (even though half of them are internal users only.. Not sure why or how that was setup?!)

Test exchange connectivity site came up with:

Testing SSL mutual authentication with the RPC proxy server.
Verification of mutual authentication failed.
Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it
Additional Details

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/445d87c5-422f-4249-821b-0c805a058ff4.aspx
That site above tells you what it should match, our SSL cert says mail.domain.com and on the http over rpc it also shows as being "msstd:mail.domain.com"

Thanks
Matt

I have an ideapad Y510, entry-level, 1.6 GHz dual-core w/ 2 GB RAM. I purchased it on Shop NBC, it was a packaged deal that came with a d-link wireless g router, as well as a lexmark printer, and loads of pre-installed software and trials. I first began using the computer in March, although I am still unclear about the status of my Office registration. This may be a stupid question, but here goes.. When I first began to use Office, it asked me for my 25-character Product Key, which it said could be on the bottom of my computer. However, when I entered this key (about 2 dozen times before calling Lenovo support, it tells me that the key is invalid. Does Office have its own 25-character Product Key?? I called Lenovo Support, and they told me I need to get a Trial Version & Trial Product Key, and would have to purchase Office after the Trial expired. I am wondering whether this makes any sense, because I always thought that most pre-installed products, especially Microsoft products, would come with the purchase of the computer. If my trial expires and I don't buy it, wouldn't that mean I'm essentially left with no word processor, nor any of the other microsoft software? If I actually have to pay $300-600 (depending on the Suite version), that's a rip-off. Isn't it supposed to come with the full version? I tried to find this out both on Microsoft's support site and Lenovo's but I couldn't find the answer.. Anyone?

Answer:pre-installed Microsoft Office 2007 Y510

Unfortunately you are correct. You only have the trial version installed. At the end of the trial, you will have very limited functionality of the program unless you  purchase it. There are free versions of different office suites available. Just Google Open Office or Star Office. These are great programs that open and edit most any MS document. They are free and are pretty simple to use. Obviously not quite the same interface as MS, but great anyways. HTH

Your computer 'had' or 'has' Office 365? You should be able to uninstall Office 2007 in Control Panel, Programs and Features but may continue to get updates if any part is left-over such as PowerPoint Viewer. While in Control Panel you can use Default Programs to make changes as to the programs that can open files.

Hello,

One of my users is experiencing a Microsoft Office bug, so we installed the proper update to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the issue is still happening, so I checked to see if the Update was installed properly.

What I discovered is, if you try to re-install the Update; a message appears stating " The Update is already installed on this system." If I go to View Update History, it shows the Microsoft Office 2010 Update.

However, if you search the update under Installed Updates, it is not listed. I tried searching by typing in the KB# and it says No Items match your search. Next, I tried uninstalling the KB Update from command prompt typing in wusa /uninstall /kb:3085604 and it says " The Update KB3085604 is not installed on this computer."

In summary, some parts of Windows 7 says the Update is not there, while other parts says it is installed. Any idea how I can fix this issue? I have attached screenshots of what is going on.

Thanks in advance!

I just installed Windows 7-I tried to get Office 2007 to work, but it won't work. I thought all of the programs would transfer. I can get some programs to boot up when I go directly to the programs folder and click on the application, but programs like Outlook come up..then the "installer" programs up and it does not work

I cannot locate the Office Diagnostic Program-Can you tell me where it is at if I go directly into the programs folder and click on it? Would that work? Also I cannot get "repair" option when I go into the Programs control panel-only gives me option to remove it. The other problem is I am at my girlfriends house-I have my Office CD at home-two hours away. I am hoping I can fix this without having to go get the disc.?

Answer:Installed Windows 7-Can I get Office fixed without disc

You cant just copy installed programs over, because they each have their place in the registry then when you start them up in the new Win7 environment they do not have the registry values that they had back in your last installation. You have to completely reinstall all your programs...

Answer:Windows trying to update Office 2013 that is not installed on PC

Hi Try Settings, Updates, Windows Updates, Advanced Options and disable 'Give me updates for other MS products...'

However you may actually want this function now or later, so this does not address the underlying trigger for these updates.
Have you ever had a version - or this version- installed e.g. as a trial packaged with the PC?

Of course you can scan the registry for Office entries (try Nirsoft's Regscanner), but there's no certainty there.

Greetings.

Have a friend with a relatively new Dell Laptop running Windows 8.

She purchased the Office 365 Home Premium, which I believe she now has to pay for annually.

In the About section (at least in Word) it shows that it is a "Subscription Product".

A Google search for details about this are dizzying.

I'm not really looking to bash MS over this latest incident, there are plenty of others out there doing that for me.   I'm just wondering if she can uninstall this version of Office and install Office 2010.  Does MS allow these sort of moves?

She's a newbie and is taking a class that uses Office 2010 and would like to use the same apps at home as she does in class.

And if you're thinking about posting a "well, it's not that different, tell her to learn 2013"...please don't.

She is not a computer person, has no interest in becoming one and would simply like to get the most out of her class.

She has access to a legal copy of Office 2010 but I wasn't sure how all this works since there has been so much confusion about Office 365 and the annual fee(s) and transfer issues.

Anyone out there done this already or know if it can be done?

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Can I go back to Office 2010 if 2013 is already installed?

I'm not really looking to bash MS over this latest incident, there are plenty of others out there doing that for me.   I'm just wondering if she can uninstall this version of Office and install Office 2010.  Does MS allow these sort of moves?... She has access to a legal copy of Office 2010 but I wasn't sure how all this works since there has been so much confusion about Office 365 and the annual fee(s) and transfer issues.Yes, you should be able to remove Office 2013/365 and then re-install the license/legal copy of Office 2010.This assumes that the license for Office 2010 is not already installed on some other computer (unless it is a license that permits installation on multiple computers).

Getting update errors but don't have office 2010 on this system.

Answer:Windows trying to update Office 2010 that is not installed on PC

Sometimes there is an update that is tied to a specific product (i.e. MSO 2010) but actually applies to a system wide update.

Can you post information specific to the update?
The KB# and error codes are a good place to start.
A screen shot is also good.

Well actually it says diff things for diff programs... like Microsoft Office Power Point has not been installed for the current user please reinstall and stuff like that.
Anyone know how to fix this? I've tried asking on another site before and looked around on the internet including on this forum some. I tried making a new account, but I can't use Microsoft Office things on that account either... so I deleted it. I tried reinstalling. I tried going into the regedit and editing permissions. I really need my Microsoft Office programs for school.

NOTE: I have no clue how it stopped working. Also, when trying to open programs it tries to install them first or something... then it comes up with the not installed for current user thing. Even though I already have the stuff installed and am on my administrator and only account.

So ya, help is appreciated.

My brother's new Acer laptop came with microsoft office 2010 supposedly installed into the computer. I can't find a click to run or anything. I do have a product key off of the back of the laptop though. Any Suggestions? Thanks.

Answer:Can not find pre-installed Office 2010 on new laptop

It should be in All Programs off of the Start Orb. If not do a search using Window Explorer.

I figure I know the answer to this, and that would be no but i figure I'd try. My buddy just gave me his old PC because he got a new Mac. I'm interested in restoring the computer but the Office 2007 on it has been deactivated, he got the program through his school and it was deactivated when he got the Mac version. I really do not want to have to purchase a new Key for the office. It works fin but I have the updates turned off so that it wont stop working. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Can I restore my Computer but leave Office installed?

I purchased a license and installed Microsoft Office through my work's Home Use Program in February. It has worked without issue until recently. The other week, I started getting a Microsoft Office Activation Wizard any time I open an Office document. At the bottom of the Wizard window, it lists Error 0xC004F074 and has a countdown timer that now says I have "2 days left to activate. Ensure you are connected to your corporate network to enable automatic activation. Your system administrator can help."

This is my home computer that has never been connected to the corporate network. I do not recall the HUP being a trial, six-month license only. Why am I getting this error, and how do I get it to continue working after the countdown's two days pass?

Answer:Office Home Use - Installed 6 mo. ago, now getting Error 0xC004F074

I'm no expert but the first thing that comes to my mind is take it to work and have the IT department activate it. Here is a good read on your problem from Microsoft.

When trying to activate you get 0xC004F074 with description "The Key Management Server (KMS) is unavailable"

Is there a install i need to do with this?  I have no reinstall disks for this...it just came on the PC.

1)  shows the file...I click it and it goes to image 2...I click yes here and it goes to image 3..

if I click no in image 2 it displays what is in image 4.

I also attached a minitool box report in case you need it.

Hi all. I recently installed office 2007 on my xp pro computer. When I try to start any of the programs such as excel or powerpoint etc., I get an hour glass icon for a few seconds like the program is going to start, then the hour glass goes away and nothing happens. I had office 2000 installed some time back that quit functioning properly so I uninstalled and reinstalled it but it said the keycode wasn't correct so I uninstalled it again and started using an open source office program. I wasn't really happy with the open source program so I uninstalled it and got office 2007 and installed it. I used the add/remove programs function in control panel and rebooted after each install and uninstall. One entry on the microsoft website said I need a .pip file association to read the program, but I can't find anything on .pip files. Any help would be appreciated.MicEdit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Answer:can't start any installed office 2007 programs

Got it! Thank You!

I found out the hard way that MS Office Small Business 2007 could not be installed on more than one computer (with one disc). I heard that MS Office Standard 2007 can be installed on up to 3 computers using only one disc. I've tried googling this and searching the MS website, but I didn't see any information pertaining to this issue. If someone could provide me with a link to where I could find information on these guidelines, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I am extremely disappointed with both Dell and Microsoft.
My client's 3-year old Inspiron 660s had a hard drive failure. After replacing the hard drive I proceeded to perform a factory recovery. The recovery process did not work!!!
My concern was that my client paid good money to buy Microsoft Office when he ordered from Dell in 2013. I spoke with Dell support and they confirmed that factory installed software is not included in the recovery partition. Dell do not provide software disks. I then spoke with Microsoft and they said they do not provide downloads for OEM, only retail versions. By the way they understand my client's dilemma and are very sorry.  Now that is ***!!!
So here we have a classic situation where neither multi-billion dollar company will help a customer.
I wonder what other Dell clients do when they loose software due to hard drive failure?
Thanks for listening to my rant.

Answer:Factory installed Microsoft Office (OEM) on Dell Computer

PCInnovation,When your client purchased the computer and received it from Dell there was an MPI  Card inside the box with the computer. The MPI card was wrapped in cellophane  and included the office Key Code on it. With this card the customer could go to the Microsoft Website and re-download office whenever he needed it as long as he had the MPI card with the office product key. If the customer lost this he/.she would need to purchase another key code. For me to better assist in troubleshooting, please click my DELL-Jesse L and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your Dell Order number. You would click my name in blue, then on the next page in the upper right corner, click the words "send private message"

I have got two PCs (Desktop and Laptop) connected to each other through crossover cable.

They can see each other and they can ping each other.

Desktop has got Microsoft office installed on it,,,,laptop has not got installed Microsoft office.

Desktop has got a word document file called: invoice.doc

From Laptop (does not office installed) I tried to open the invoice.doc on Desktop,,,,but I could not.

Is this normal ?

Do I need to install Microsoft office on laptop as well ?

Answer:Open a word document via a network from a PC does not have installed office

Yes, you need the program on both machines (or whatever machine you want to view it on).

Sharing a file does not share the programs associated with it, nor is there a way to share most applications like office.
