Preferred Solution: In excel, how can I convert 1234 to 1-2-3-4

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

With your HH.MM.SS Time in cell A1 try the formula:=TIME(LEFT(A1,2),MID(A1,4,2),RIGHT(A1,2))You will then need to make the cell real times, not just cell with formulas.Hightlight the cell,On the Task Bar,CopyOn the Task Bar,Paste SpecialSelect ValuesClick OKMIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

Greetings all,

I am working on a project involving several dozen PDF files containing some data in tables. I would like to be able to convert those PDF tables to Excel so that I can work with the data in Excel spreadsheets.

The PDF files are located on several research websites that all happen to use PDF.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate and I have a DELL Inspiron 9400. Presently I am using Adobe Reader 8.1 to read the PDF files.

The simpler the solution, the better - as I am not as computer literate as I should be.

Thanks.

I think I know the answer to this, but I'd like confirmation from my elders and bettersI have a report from a CMM (Co-ordinate measuring machine, for those who might ask), it runs something called PC-DMIS software, which is a specialist measuring software and generally prints hard copy reports.Now, I would like the reports in a format that Excel can import, but so far, the only way our measurement guy has managed to output them electronically, is in rich text format within a word doc. They open fine in Word to view, but the data is displayed in a series of pictures of text, not actual text itself. I hope that makes sense.I don't know of any way that I can drag text from an image within a Word doc, and I guess my route will be to investigate a way of exporting the data in a different format from the CMM, but I thought I'd check in case some clever bod reading this has some miracle answer.Cheers folks

Answer:Convert rtf doc to excel format

Rich text documents are limited in what they can show but I guess what you have is formatted in a a table. Have you tried copy and paste special into excel? this should give you the option to paste the values in plain text. There's a reasonable chance you won't have to edit the results too much

How can I convert excel into word

Answer:convert Excel to Word

Hi,Mail merge sounds like the Word 'function' you need.It allows you to setup a document using named fields, and these named fields are drawn from a data source, such as Excel.If your Excel worksheet has a series of 'fields' i.e. columns containing:Courtesy titleFirst nameLast nameAddress1Address2TownProvince/State/CountyPostal/Zip codeCountrySelect the range of cells containing your address data including a headings row as suggested above.In the address box in Excel - the area just above the column letter A and the Row number 1, which displays the active cell address, type in a name for the table, e.g. Wedding Addresses. Click OK (you must click OK with the cursor still in the address box). Save the Excel file.In Word use Help to find the Mail Merge Menu/ Mail Merge Helper (I don't have Word 2007 on this PC, so I can't give you the steps) and use the Mail Merge Helper to step you through the process.It will allow you to link directly to the range you named ("Wedding Addresses") in your Excel Workbook and to map Word's address fields to your headings, and then print a series of envelopes.Regards

With Office 2010 is it possible to scan a document to your computer and then covert it to an Excel file?

Answer:Convert to Excel File

What kind of a document? If you're talking about a Word doc with tables of data or something like that then it can probably be exported to a CSV file which can then be imported into Excel.

We would really need to know more about what doc and type of info you are wanting to convert to Excel.

After reading your post again, I think maybe you are talking about a paper document that you want to scan. This would require OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software that could convert the image into a text file. Once you have a text file, then there are ways to import the text it into Excel.

Hello!,I used my TI-83 to find an angle.  This is what I enter to my TI-83:sin(-)(((10)(521^(-9) / (.53^(-5)))and the correct answer is 79.42 degrees.  The calculator mode is set in degrees.Now when I enter it on Excel 2003, it gives me the wrong answer.  How do I write the formula so I can get 79.42 degrees???Please help...Sincerely,Arthur Hernandez

Answer:Convert TI-83 equation to Excel formula...

First of all, I removed your e-mail address to avoid spamming.  I'm sure you'd hate for your inbox to be flooded with messages from Prince Ndugu asking for money.Now...I've never used Excel 2003 (only 2007), so I don't know for sure what kind of features it has.  And I'm no math major, but I don't see how you are getting 79.42 degrees on your calculator.  When I entered the number into a TI-83 (after correcting the formula, which has an incorrect number of parentheses and an improper sine declaration), the answer was nowhere near what you got.  Admittedly, I haven't worked with geometry in several years, so I'm a bit rusty, but I certainly know how to enter numbers into a calculator.I could be wrong, but this should be the proper way to write your formula in Excel:=sin(-1)*(((10)*(521^(-9)))/(.53^(-5)))By default, Excel is normally set to Degrees.  If it is set to Radian, you can write the following:=degrees(sin(-1)*(((10)*(521^(-9)))/(.53^(-5))))But that shouldn't be necessary.  If you are getting the incorrect answer, the only thing I can suggest is to check your formula again.  And for future record, I don't normally respond to PM's requesting help.  I've actually been away from the forums for nearly a month or two and yet I still receive a lot of messages from people asking me for help.  And in many cases, they want help with things I know nothing about.  In your ... or just

I have allowed C2=2 to give A, C2=3 to give B etc I wasn't sure how important the strict inequalites were

I have not found a solutions which worked, datevalue returned #value etc. The basic problem is if your system date is not according to the date format in your text date column. So if you have set it to ISO, starting with the year, datevalue will not work etc.
This procedure worked fianally:

If the date format is like '12/31/2011 (US Format)
1. Change date format in CtrlPanel Regional & Language Option to the corresponding format, in this case mm/dd/yyyy
2. Select column with dates
3. Format Cells General.
Dates will change to Datevalue 40908 (Nbr of days since 01/01/1900)
4. Format Custom i.e. ISO Format yyyy/mm/dd (which really should be used everywhere)
5. Voila 2011/12/31
6. Change date Format in CtrPanel back to your Format

In Excel 2010, how can I convert milliseconds to seconds (ss.00) on the fly as I type the data into the specific cells?i.e.123456 milliseconds = 123.55 secondsthanks!Thanks,REMGU

Answer:Convert milliseconds to seconds on the fly in Excel

Without a macro, just use put a conversion formula in another column.Otherwise, you'll need a Worksheet_Change macro that will monitor changes made to the cells and replace what is manually entered with the converted value.This will perform the conversion on any number entered in Column A:Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Application.EnableEvents = False
If Target.Column = 1 Then
If IsNumeric(Target) Then
Target = Target / 1000
End If
End If
Application.EnableEvents = True
End SubClick Here Before Posting Data or VBA Code ---> How To Post Data or Code.

I have a 200+ page PDF file which I need to convert ideally to Excel, but Word will do.
I have tried downloading some of the free converters (from a Google search). The free versions typically only convert 5-10 pages, with the full version costing upto $100; the conversion results are also not too impressive.
Is there another way to convert PDF documents to Excel, or a cheaper, but recommended software package available?
Thanks.

Hi,

I want to convert Excel macro to Executables, so that i can call that from another application to run.

let me know, if u have idea on it..

Nagarajan S

Answer:Convert Excel Macro to Executables

you need to put your code in the "This Workbook" section of the project.

Private Sub Workbook_Open()

End Sub

You can easily access this by right clicking on the Excel icon in the top right corner of the Excel window...choose "View code".

Any code there will execute when the book is opened, set your Excel Security (Tools/macro/Security) to "LOW" so it will not be held up by the pop up to enable macros

Ok what Im trying to do sounds very simple... I just cant get to the right format.Lets say I have a date like 8/2/12 or 12/31/12I need to make an if condition where if the date is after lets say 10/31/12 the user would get a pop up error message saying to use a current version.Im just trying to force users to keep up with the current forms that I realize to them, caus ethey just keep using the old versions caus ethey are lazy as hell.I know how to make the if condition and the error pop up message.I just need Excel to convert the date into numbers like 8/2/12 = 41123 in the background without showing it.So if the date is 10/31/12 = 41213 I want excel to stop the process and give an error message to the user.Something like
CurrentDate = 08/02/12
If (CurrentDate) > 41213 then
MsgBox "Dude use the current form"
Else
About 4 pages of code
End If
Note: when I take the date from another screen it comes as "08/02/12"Always 8 charactersThanks in advance!!!

Answer:EXCEL Convert date to number

This code should get you what you asked for, but I think you are making it more complicated than it has to be.
Sub CompareDateSerials()
DealDate = "8/2/12"
dVal = DateValue(DealDate)
dSer = Format(dVal, "####") 'returns date as serial number (41123)
If dSer > 41213 Then
MsgBox "Dude use the current form"
End If
End SubHowever, you don't need to convert it to the serial number. You can just compare the DateValues.
Sub CompareDateValues()
DealDate = "8/2/13"
If DateValue(DealDate) > DateValue("10/31/12") Then
MsgBox "Dude use the current form"
End If
End Sub

Hi,

I've a question with Excel and appreciate all help given.

Question:

How do I convert an 100-row Excel 2003 Worksheet ( see attached Sample1.xls) to a text file where each column is separated by a new line (see attached Sample2.txt) ?

Thanks for your reply!

Answer:Convert excel to text file

I can't think of a simple single step solution but this two step process should do the trick ...

Save the Excel file as a "Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)" file.

Open the text file in MS-Word (or other editor that allows find and replace of special characters in an entire document).

Find and replace all of the Tabs with Line Breaks.

i have a worksheet containing names in cells and they are grouped by time starts. I want to keep a running total daily of the names and if i remove a name i do not want that cell to be included in the total.

Answer:on excel worksheet, how do you convert a text

Your question is not very clear.You subject line says "how do you convert a text", yet your question mentions nothing about "converting" anything.You post says the names are "grouped by time starts". What's a "time start" and how does the grouping enter in your question?By "keeping a running total daily of the names" do you mean that you want to count them every day?Perhaps if you posted an example of your data and the desired output based on the example data, we could be of some assistance.Please read the How To referenced in my signature line before posting your example data.Click Here Before Posting Data or VBA Code ---> How To Post Data or Code.

Answer:Convert HTML file to Excel or CSV

On my machine all that's required is to rename a copy of the .html file with the .csv extension.

I say a "copy" so that you're not changing the properties of the original file!

Default software for reading html files on my machine is Cyberfox 64 bit.

Default software for reading csv files on my machine is SoftMaker FreeOffice (Planmaker)

I have other browsers and office suites that can handle the same files!

I have an Excel file that I want to report in Access. The first row of
the file contains all the questions. Several items have multiple
options and other items have multiple choices possible. In addition,
I need the data reported and summarized across job level and regional
location. There are eight surveys with anywhere from 25-400
responses. I would expect that the results be put into MS Access and
have the following reports ready to print for each of the eight
surveys:
1) All results,
2) Results by job level,
3) Results by location,
4) Results combining job level and location.

Answer:convert excel data to access

hi Alex....

you can just import Excel data into Access as follows:

(from Access)
File / Get External Data / Import (then select your Excel file)

the wizard guides you the rest of the way.

coupla things:

1) i think (?) you need to close the Excel file before you can import anything from it.

2) the data in the Excel file must meet Access' strict data-field and data-records format (NO Pivot Tables).
the data really needs to "look" like it's database ready (ALL fields should be set-up in columns.... with only data within those fields).
Otherwise Access will import your data with errors (although it will be kind enough to tell you that it's done so )

report back if you are having trouble with this.

Hi Folks,

I want to convert all files of '.lis' format in a folder to XML spreadsheets and save it with the same name as the '.lis' (e.g. A.lis will become A.xml). This is not just change in the extension but very similar to reading '.txt' files in excel.
