Preferred Solution: Computex 2017: ASUS unveils new ROG Zephyrus for gaming, powered by Windows 10

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

ASUS’ Eee PC met with surprising success when it was launched last year, offering users a small, simple and cheap notebook to perform basic tasks such as browsing the internet and creating office documents. The company is now planning to try and build on that success by launching a desktop variant of the Eee PC, currently being called the Digital Home System EP20. Unfortunately there are very few confirmed details – all that’s known is that it will be smaller than a typical desktop PC and come equipped with the same Linux operating system as the Eee PC (based on Xandros Linux). The system is also expected to feature one of Intel’s new Atom processors, which could allow for both single and dual core versions. ASUS commented that prices should start around $199, although DailyTech speculates that the real figure may be closer to $299.

Please help. I have an Asus F555LA-NS72 laptop with windows 10 on it. It ran out of power during a windows update and shut off. I turned it on it told me to choose a keyboard language. I chose it and it took me to Windows Recovery environment. I couldn't restore it because I had no restore points saved and the startup repair didn't work either and I had no disks to restore windows 10 from. So I chose Windows rollback to my previous version and it eventually just went to a black screen but my cursor would show up when I moved it but would disappear seconds later. I left it That way overnight and it was the same when I woke up. Now I turn it on and it goes to the black screen again after the Asus logo appears and i have no way to access windows recovery environment nor boot into safe mode. However I can go into the BIOS menu. Any tips? I really need help with this I've only had this laptop a few months. I apologize if there's any typos I'm posting this from my phone.

Hello,Why does the 2017 Inspiron 15 Gaming 7577 model have no Windows 8.1 support?

Answer:2017 Inspiron 15 Gaming 7577, no Windows 8.1 support?

Starting with the seventh generation Intel Core platform (and AMD Ryzen/R9, R12 APU) only Windows 10 is supported.  It's Microsoft -- not Dell -- that is locking out older Windows on newer CPUs.

I wish my ASUS Laptop to be 'on' 24/7 as an Apache Server. It works perfectly now but after several hours, I cannot visit my web site hosted on this Laptop. Altho the Power Lite is lit, the machine cannot be accessed from my router.

I looked over all the power settings (and there are *many* of them), but can't find suitable settings that:

a. Will allow access 24/7 to my site visitors, But,

b. Let the display go blank after several minutes of *my* not using it.

Q:
What are the detailed Power Settings for 24/7 operation without my attendance at the machine, and web site visitors get immediate access to my site ? I don't mind the display going black as long as the machine springs into action when a client visits.

Thank you

I recently purchased an Inspiron Gaming Series Dell laptop and since yesterday when I open it/turn on the power button the screen displays green/white vertical triangle lines (can provide an image). It DOES NOT display the Dell logo at all and doesn't even give me the opportunity to sign in, it just stays stuck on the screen.
This laptop is fairly new, purchased back in August, so it should still be under warranty, but it worries me that it is having issues when it is still fairly new. What could be the cause of it? Any way I can fix it?

Not all Windows updates are good, especially those that update your drivers. Never ever install those, drivers should come from the maker of board/card only!

Restore the machine to the previous point and start again. I can't guarantee that's the issue but it's a likely culprit.

BTW, turn off automatic updates and change to 'notify only', then choose what you want to install..

That's not a gaming laptop, by any stretch of the definition.

If you want to play games, here are some options:
- Turn down all graphics settings on games to minimum, and use 800 x 600 resolution. Pray that works.
- Go back to the store you got it from and see if you can return it as store credit to buy a more expensive machine.

Hi all,

CPU: Intel Core i7 7700HQ Kabylake
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB

Problem:
Upon first setup there were issues installing the NVIDIA drivers where the install would fail multiple times - eventually I got the driver to install. Then I had some issues with the graphics card enabling when I would play games so I just changed the setting in the NVIDIA control panel to always use the dedicated GPU. After playing some AAA titles such as GTA V and Arma III, I am experiencing what appears to be throttling. On low or ultra settings, my FPS remains around 45-50 (sometimes a little higher before stutter) on most games which surprised me because the dedicated GPU is a 1050 Ti which has higher specs than what the games need. After playing for maybe an hour, the game starts to frequently stutter, dropping frames for a couple seconds then boosting back and so on. I have monitored the temperature of both the GPU and CPU which reach ~56 degrees Celsius and ~70 degrees Celsius respectively. I have also monitored the usage of the CPU and memory during play, the CPU not reaching full usage and the memory reaching about 90% usage. I have also monitored the GPU performance through GPU-Z and will attach the file below. I have virtually tried everything that I can thi... Read more

Hi everyone, i have quite a few questions so i'll post separate threads rather than pollute one thread. I'm wanting to get something a lot better than windows defender. Comcast is my ISP so i can get NIS for free. As most of you are aware of Norton hasn't been doing a great job these days. There has been multiple vulnerabilities in its products that actually decreases the security of windows. Still NIS still does a pretty good job of scoring pretty well in the various test in terms of protection. I was thinking on going with either bitdefender or KIS but of course i would have to pay for those. If you were me would opt for NIS because its still pretty dang good and worlds better than bit defender or would you opt for one of the better products like KIS or bitdefender?

Beset by rampant counterfeiting across Latin America, Microsoft on Tuesday introduced a cut-rate, reduced version of Windows XP that is aimed at first-time, low-income computer users who might otherwise run pirated software.

XP Starter Edition helps users learn to use a mouse and other computer devices, but strips out networking, limits the number of programs that can open and won't work on top-level processors.

The program "is for people who want access to legal software," said Microsoft Mexico General Director Felipe Sanchez Romero. The company sees a large potential market, given that 83 percent of Mexicans don't have personal computers.

The company says most novice users don't need the advanced functions and it says it has designed the bottom-tier version of XP to be "an affordable and simple introduction to personal computing."

Microsoft launched the Spanish language version of the program at a news conference in Mexico City that featured several partners, including a state-owned lending agency, the main phone company Telmex and local computer manufacturers Texa, Lanix and Hergo.

The software will be available only pre-installed on machines, not as a boxed product. Microsoft has not offered it in the United States or western Europe.

The company earlier had released versions in Thailand, India, Russia, Malaysia and Brazil -- other markets where counterfeiting is common.

A report by the Gartner consulting company last year critici... Read more

Very strange issue here is happening here. When the laptop T410s is always off before it's docked, so once it's docked I press the power button and no image shows up on the external monitor.  I then open the lid of the T410s, press the power button on the laptop, quickly close the lid and it comes up.  I've tried different docking stations, power supplies and the issue still persisted.  I then tried another Lenovo T410 and it boots fine. Here's the kicker... When the T410s is not powered down while docked and only logged off, then undocked, and then powered down. When it's reseated into the dock and powered up it works fine. It then made me believe there was a Docking profile issue. I've removed the docking profiles and recreated them, since it that didn't work; I even set XP to allow us to manually choose whether it's docked or undocked.  This did not work. Is anyone else experiencing this or have the expertise on this subject?

Answer:If laptop is powered off on dock, will not display image when powered back on.

I have a T410s with 2 external monitors that I always used. 1x24inch LCD connected using VGA to VGA and 1x26inch LCD connected using displayport to HDMI. It used to be fine until some intel grapics driver update a while back. So I come to believe is the driver fault and/or the internal graphic card lack of capacity. My solution is to setup the monitors the way I like is to change the BIOS to boot up from displayport, and when successful going into the desktop then disable the laptop LCD. Then connect the 2nd LCD, extend the desktop and setup the resolution. From that point on I must always boot up with VGA disconnect then after into desktop, plug in the VGA cable and it will show up fine. If I forget and left the displayport + VGA connected when I bootup, it will fail and I have to do the initial setup again. So something with the displayport/graphic card/graphic memory is making the T410s 'forget' or discard the displayport. or the 1900x1200 resolutions of 2x monitors overwhelm the graphics card memory and it had to made a choice or give up. Most of the time it just goes blank or flash on/off In your case, if you only have 1x external monitor you can just change the BIOS to bootup screen in VGA/Displayport/Dock and when in the dsektop, set to duplicate mode for both screens. Then download this utility called ultramon and use it to setup the extended display setting to your liking, save the profile on the desktop/startup folder. When your T410s bootup, int... Read more

AMD talking about the RX480 (link below). I figured they wouldn't be matching 1080 performance and would be focusing on their pricing versus the competition. $199 U.S. for a RX480. You gotta love the comment they got from Marty Stratton (ID software - Doom developer):

"You are not going to need a $700 video card to enjoy Doom at fantastic frame rates". Then back to AMD for benchmarks of two 480's (<$500) compared to a $700 1080.

I'm no fan boy of either company. I've had both, no issues. Critical for pricing is competition so I hope both Nvidia and AMD do well. Just nice to see more than a number of us consumers take a shot at that $700 U.S. "Founders Edition REFERENCE" card pricing.

Answer:Polaris Introduction at Computex 2016

AMD have always been more reasonable with their pricing. With better implementation of Dx12 it should be a real killer. It's pity that game developers are so one sided when it comes to making games, some work better on ATI/AMD, some better with Nvidia. You practically have to get one of each to be able to run every game with same performance.

Good evening everyone. Thanks for your access to this thread. I hope you to read and answer for this question.

I want to ask everyone that which software should I use for keeping security of my PC.

Now I am using Bitdefender Total Security 2017 as main anti-malware soft on my main desktop PC.
And also I was using F-secure SAFE as anti-malware soft on my PC until last week.

Yesterday, I heard that new Avast Antivirus 2017 was released, and new Avast Free is including behaviour scanning system.

I am having trouble deciding which software should I use as anti-malware soft.
Please tell me about your recommend.

I think that...

?Protection features
Better : Bitdefender 2017 > F-secure SAFE > Avast Free 2017

?Performance and speed
Lighter : Avast Free 2017 > F-secure SAFE > Bitdefender 2017

?the risk of false positive trouble
Bigger risk : F-secure SAFE > Avast Free 2017 > Bitdefender 2017

?SSL (HTTPS) Scanning is enable without fake SSL certificate to browser
Unnecessary fake certificate : Avast Free, F-secure
Need fake certificate : Bitdefender Total

F-secure SAFE is the very nice solution as protection from malwares and keeping speedy PC. But it is having big risk of false positive ratings; especially the website blocking is not good with many many false positive ratings. And, sometimes slow down my PC.

Bitdefender Total Security 2017 is the best solution as protection from malwares. This software is providing users very nice anti-malware solu... Read more

Answer:Avast Free 2017 vs F-secure SAFE vs Bitdefender Total Security 2017

Quick question, why Bitdefender Total Protection? Do you need ALL those additional features, or looking for an Antivirus only, because there are Bitdefender Antivirus Plus and Free versions.

What about other protection software like Emsisoft Anti-Malware/Internet Security or ESET Nod32 Antivirus/Internet Security?

Hello, Guys!
I'm new on this forum but I Really Really like this good Forum
So I had Emsisoft for couple of months now
But Recently I've switched over to Avast Premier Beacuse I've never used Avast before So I wanted to try It out
But now I'm without any AV As I do not know what to Install Avast or Emsisoft!
I have licences for both So thats not the problem
Thanks In Advance And btw This forum really nice.

Answer:Avast Premier 2017 Vs Emsisoft Internet Security 2017

Both have excellent protection functions, but certainly they are two different security solutions.
I think the choice of one or the other one is really subjective, I've used Emsisoft for many years and it is my first choice

MSI displayed at Computex an ATI X800XT-based graphics card that integrates an AGP as well as a PCI Express interface. The X800XT chip commonly offers native PCI Express support only, but an added AGP bridge on the backside of the board, makes the "RX800 Series / Geminium VIII" an interesting solution for users who want to stick with AGP for now and upgrade to PCI Express sometime in the future.

MSI's card can also be used in a dual-graphics tandem, if users choose to upgrade to an ATI RD400/RD480 motherboard a Radeon X800 master card. (THG)

A couple of years ago I moved myself and some of the fam from Apple Everything to Windows 10. Yesterday however, I bought an new 2017 iPad. I really love the Surface devices, so why?
LEAVING THE PLATFORM BECAUSE OF WINDOWS MOBILE
First, because Microsoft are no longer supporting the phones that are in our house, we are being forced from that platform. So rather than living and breathing completely and happily inside the Microsoft ecosystem, I am now forced to diversify and go elsewhere. This really is a big deal, and changes my thinking from the unthinkable (leaving the MS ecosystem) to the possible (shifting back towards Apple). That being the case, why should I then buy a Microsoft Surface tablet (I was planning to buying a new Surface Pro M3) when I an now FORCED to be open to Apple and Android?
EASE OF MOVING PLATFORMS
Second, Microsoft have made my leap back to Apple so easy, because they have done what Apple and Google have refused to do, which is to make their software available on the others' platforms. Thus the transition to iPad is easy. For example, Word and PowerPoint are effectively free (via my 365 account that I will not be renewing at full cost next time; I will use the academic version which costs me almost nothing). Outlook on iPad is a great app (better than on PC platform). Lots of other apps that Microsoft that I use are also really nice on iPad (e.g. Wunderlist) and made the transition really simple and clean.

Answer:I did the unthinkable and chose a 2017 iPad over a 2017 Surface Pro M3

Can't make sense of that. Presumably you have really old windows phones that no longer get updates?
And what does that have to do with what tablet you use? Windows has timeline, cloud clipboard and a whole host of platform agnostic features coming this fall, so Windows will play nice with android or ios (better than those OSes play with any other).
You don't even need your tablet, desktop and phone to be the same platform. You just need the same services, which for MSFT, exist on every platform.

Hey I was planning on buying another laptop but last night this one caught my eye, It's by Asus, It's located here

I think it's a great price for a pretty good processor (Intel i5 450M) and a great graphics card (Nvidia GT335M) which is also in the new alienware M11X which is even more expensive than this laptop, so what do you think? I think i'm going to buy it, if you aren't sure yet just take a look at this laptop running GTA 4 Episodes From Liberty City on medium at an average of 25 FPS

So recently (problem just started about 2 months ago),my laptop has been experiencing extremely low FPS while gaming (WoW), spikes between 10-25 FPS with me already running the game on the lowest possible quality with ALL possible background applications closed. I've tried all possible solutions including running anti-virus/malware scans, CCleaner, Defraggler, updating all drivers, etc. EVERYTHING SHORT of a system wipe which I feel is not something I want to do unless all other means have been expired. I have run some tests and know that this is not a connection issue.

Computer Specs:
Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.4
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 60 Stepping 3
Processor Count: 8
RAM: 8075 Mb
Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, 1024 Mb
Hard Drives: C: 279 GB (41 GB Free); D: 398 GB (194 GB Free);
Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC., G56JR
Antivirus: Avira Antivirus, Disabled

I also have GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M
Hard drive capacity are also no where near full.

I can take the laptop back to ASUS for a system wipe but it is not something that I want to do because they would require 5 working days as well as needing to back-up everything on my laptop.

Are there any possible explanation to why this problem occurs? Perhaps some settings tuned wrong or some other hardware issues?

Hi there

Intuitively one might think using Powered (from the mains) external USB HDD's would require more power from the computer as well compared with those small self powered units.

I've no way to measure this but I'm sure the small units might consume MORE power as the computer has to supply all the power for Disk rotation and the USB I/O controller.

I only ask this because I need to put two large powered USB units (both with 2 X 3 TB Raid 0 HDD's in each unit) on to a USB 3 Hub.
The two HDD units seem to perform perfectly well whether connected to the chargeable port on an HP laptop or the "non chargeable" ones.

The RAID 0 is powered by the HDD itself (internal Hardware RAID) --used RAID 0 for speed -- don't need to mirror etc - I've enough backup if the whole thing goes bonkers. !!

The files on these HDD's are serving music and video so not intensive used -- don't seem to have any problem streaming media from the laptop.

Any engineers out there - curious over what is the actual load (power wise) on the computer if a POWERED USB HDD is used compared to a Self powered one. Note the Hub I'm using is not also powered.

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:Powered USB HDD - vs Self powered USB -- load on computer ?

We can suppose that a portable HD enclosure that has it's own power supply doesn't draw as much current from the 5 volt supply provided by the USB bus.

On a purely practical basis it simply doesn't matter. There are hard limits to how much current a USB port will deliver. USB 2 ports are limited to 500 mA, which is why they can be so bad for charging smart phones & tablets. A USB 3 port supports up to 900 mA.

The load presented to the host is not relevant. The external device either works or doesn't.

Hi there everyone !

I Didn't find very much information about this issue.. Might be an stupid question, but I need help..

I've been thinking bying of W510. So, is USB3 ports powered ? I'm asking, because in sales ads i've been looking they inform about two USB 3.0, one powered USB 2.0 and one USB2.0/eSATA combo port. So I started to get concerned, is the 3.0 port powered. This is rather important, because I need the superspeed port for video capturing, and my capturing device (Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle) takes it's power from USB.

Thanks beforehand for support !

Answer:Difference between powered and non-powered USB in W510

Hello mate, All usb ports provide power. What they mean by powered is the usb 2.0 port is always powered even when the computer is turned off. This port is in the back and is yellow. The other ports are not powered when the laptop is off but they are when it's on.

I am excited I now have 1TB between my 500GB internal and 500GB external. The answer would be simple.  I believe the eSATA standard is powered, however if you plug the drive in (without the power connected) and it doesn't work, then you need the external power source. This is to say that not all devices can be powered off the power of the eSATA port, this has more to do with the drive and chipset used by the device.

Hello gents!

So my issue is fairly simply explained but I have yet to come to a specific solution as to the root of the problem. At any rate, my dear ASUS N61Ja laptop has begun crashing after playing games such as Team Fortress 2, Killing Floor and World of Warcraft among others(High performance stuff for a laptop in other words) and it didnt do this when I got the laptop, it only started a month or two ago and the only resolve I can come up with is that it's overheating. I tried running a memory diagnostic just in case but it seems to be fine, however the cores seem to be going to 79-80C when running Warcraft.

Anyone got any hints on how to resolve this? I've tried lowering the graphics but it doesnt seem to have a very powerful impact on it.

Nearly forgot the specs:
http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Multimedia_Entertainment/N61Ja/#specifications

Answer:ASUS N61Ja Crashes when gaming

Crashing after playing? Odd, usually if its overheating it would crash while playing. Sounds like maybe driver issue? As if the machine doesn't know what to do while exiting the game back to the desktop.
Are there any error messages? Does it reboot, or just pop up a window about the program not closing properly?

If you suspect heat, you can try a small house fan blowing on the system for added cooling, also play on a hard table surface that would dissipate heat better than say your lap or a bed.

My nephew wants to get a gaming laptop, but he wants to spend no more then $1000. We're thinking of finding something for something like $800-850, and then he can use the rest to load up on Steam games. What is a good laptop? I've been looking, but models like Alienware are overhyped and expensive. He doesn't need to play Crysis maxed, just games like: Portal 2, L4D, RE5, Skyrim, and so on - nothing "intense". I'd like him to run most games at max.

What are some good brands? I prefer not to even let him near HP since I've had nothing but issues.

I found the ASUS N53SV-EH72 model, Amazon.com: ASUS N53SV-EH72 15.6-Inch Full HD Dynamic Entertainment Laptop (Silver Aluminum): Electronics

I don't want him to spend over $900 because he wants to get games too.

Answer:Gaming Laptop - Asus N53SV

I think you'll be happy with that laptop.

As you may know, the ASUS Eee PC has no DVD/CD drive; so, I copied my Real Deal Mystic Forest game onto my SD card and installed it. It installed just fine but know when I try to play it it says to please insert the CD in into the D drive. Well, I found where it was saying to run it from the D drive and changed it to the E drive (yes I hit save), and I'm still getting that message. All suggestions welcomed!!!!!!!!! Thanks, sugarface

Answer:Solved: Help with gaming off a SD card (ASUS Eee PC)

The game is protected. It won't run unless the original CD is inserted. It has special files and encryption on the CD that you can't copy.

"gaming" mobos are just labelled gimmicks.. because they have cool names and say theyre for gamers people think theyre getting a good deal..

now you say you dont intend to overclock.. 90% of that mobos features that are additional will be aimed at overclocking, that and the i3 processor not being a particularly strong cpu for gaming, id aim at something much cheaper with less guff you wont use.

Can you do what Asus techs have been so far unable to do?

I have been suffering from sporadic BSOD mostly while gaming for some time. My computer has a terrible gpu so I thought that was the cause and it was getting up to some very high temperatures, but I sent the computer in to Asus and they replaced the fan and some cooling parts and the computer doesnt run hot any more but then I started to get Bad Pool Caller and page fault BSODs. I sent it in again and they replaced the hard drive. I have had it back for less than a week and the BSODs are back. Help me SevenForums you are my only hope.

Security Software: ???

Make sure to install security software. I recommend either of these:Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows coupled with Malwarebytes. Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Good and Free system security combination.

After installing your security software, update it, and then run full scans today with each program. Report back the results of the scans.
One of your crashes indicates hard disk problems. This could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log (you may need to search for wininit instead of chkdsk).
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Members,

Here is a brief summary of my system:
Asus A7N8X-X Rev 2 (runs NVidia nForce2)
AMD Athlon 2600+ Model 8
Asus 4x AGP Video (128MB)
PC2100 1GB and 512MB Installed

All of the drivers for all components are the latest from NVidia.

During normal operation, there are no issues. However, when playing any type of graphic intensive game, the system will BSOD or lock. This happens on games from Boggle to Formula One.

Currently the BIOS FSB is set to 133MHz with a 8x/16x multiplier (as per AMD's guides) to get the 2133MHz for the processor. If, however, I use the Nvidia nTune application, slow the FSB to 220Mhz, the system will run without any issues.

My questions are thus:

1. Does the requirement of having to slow the FSB to 220MHz indicate a issue with this board and PC2100?

2. Is this problem indicative of an AGP 4x VGA and not related to RAM?

3. Is my problem related to both the PC2100 and the 4x AGP?

In reading here on the Techspot boards (which are outstanding btw), I found several threads related to this motherboard and various issues but none conclusively matched what issue I'm experiencing with this particular combination.

Thank you all for your time and effort in helping me solve this issue.

Kind Regards,

if overclocking not an issue, try to get nVIDIA ForceWare v56.72 and Microsoft Directx 9.0b.

If your ASUS video card is nvidia, download v56.72 and install it. it should work

Hey,

So my PSU is about 2 years old, its a Corsair vs550. It never gave me any trouble, but since about a week ago, it'll sometimes reboot my pc when gaming (note: this only happens while gaming).

I figured it might be GPU related, but my gpu is about a month old (GIgabyte GTX 970) or my PSU is failing.

Is there any test I could do before I get a new PSU or take my gpu back to the store?

Thanks

Can anybody please advise me on how to upgrade my pc please

This is a laptop, not built to run those games well... If you have the maximum memory allowed and a hard drive that has enough speed (7200rpms) and free capacity or space, that's all you can do

I'm having problems using my gaming headsets with my PC. I have a TurtleBeach Z22 and a Razer Kraken and both have the same issue.
When I plug my TB into my PC (via the USB and jack), it will say on the recording tab located from playback devices 'Mic in at front panel (Pink)'. Yet, I cannot hear anything in the headset nor is the computer picking up the mic. If I change the input to Headphone when I plug the jack in, I can hear sound on my PC, but it gets rid of the Mic from the tab..
I've tried reinstalling the drivers, i've tried literally everything I can find on the internet and have been desperately trying to fix it for about 2 hours at this point, so if anybody can help it would be much appreciated!

Sold! As in.. I've been in the market for over a month to buy a gaming laptop and couldn't find one worth wasting money on.

I say this for two reasons:

1) GTX980M - this thing is a whole other beast to the 970M. Forget about the 960M altogether.
2) 1920 x 1080 - THANK F%^&ING GOD!! Stop offering me "gaming" laptops with 4k screens and GTX960M/970Ms that can't possibly drive them! A vast majority of gamers are still playing on 22 inch 1080 res desktop monitors and this thing is only 17". It sounds pretty having that 4K moniker in there.. but.. stop it already!

Problem: bought a new gpu, cpu, and motherboard and i hooked it all up and the cpu indicator came on meaning there is a cpu issue but the pc started the boot sequence and the cpu got hot despite the water cooler no signal on screen cant enter the bios. it wont accept my other cpu (fx 6300) either and both are am3+ sockets. also tried using two other coolers (cleaning and installing new thermal paste each time.)

Installation; i installed the motherboard im missing some screws for the case but nothing touching anywhere it shouldnt be. installed the cpu put the cooler on then the ramm and i hooked up the usb ports and the power button cords plugged the motherboard power connectors in then installed the gpu and its power then the x2 sata cables tried to start in safe mode system started w/ fans running led warning lights cycled then it stopped on red meaning cpu error system then shut off after a minute then it shut off slightly faster after i tried to start it again i tried cycling the ramm slots they are in the correct slots i followed the motherboard installation book

Issue i previously fixed: When i first hooked everything up the power button didnt work so i re did all my connections and the motherboard power connectors and it fixed that issue.

Estimates:
Could i have maybe damaged the parts and now it doesnt recognize cpu's
Could i have damaged the cpu and now it overheats?

Watercooling was once reserved for hardcore overclockers and gamers. Constructing a liquid cooling loop meant piecing together various parts from different manufacturers, plumbing the lines yourself and crossing your fingers that there were no leaks when you flipped the switch.

Answer:Watercooling goes mobile with the Asus GX700 gaming notebook

The real issue I see is, how hard is it to switch out components? If it is a pain or impossible to upgrade it, then it will end up becoming two pointless paper weights in a matter of time.

Or is the liquid cooling system more like a cooling pad? Thus it could be used by any laptop.

Ever since I installed the asus amd R9 280x TOP with Battlefield 4 in mind I have been experiencing graphical issues in the game.Running three monitors with a 5040 x 1050 resolution.AMD Cataclyst control center 13.12It doesn't happen all the time but it seems to happen when there's a lot happening on the screen.I figured it was because of Battlefield 4 with all it's bugs and that.. but I just played a game of Team Fortress 2 where it happened too thus worrying me.It's not a lot of information to go on but I'm not sure what to mention. It's a mix of Green bars, old, classic static we all remember from the old TV's just randomly through the games,  in BF4 it's on all three monitors.. TF2 only supports 1 monitor so I can't say the same of this game

Answer:Asus AMD R9 280x TOP - Green bars/Static interference while gaming

What are the rest of your system specs?  Has this ever happened on the desktop, or when playing a video, or basically at any time other than gaming?Have you checked your temperatures? These artifacts are often caused by either overheating or bad graphics memory (VRAM).  Drivers can also play a part, was this a new build or did you upgrade from another card?  If so, what card?

Hi everyone! Bought a new laptop almost a year ago, i was never able to find the cause of the crashes.

Here some specs

- Intel i7-3537U CPU
- Asus K56CB motherboard
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 740m Dedicated GPU
- Intel HD Graphics 4000 Integrated GPU
- 4gb 1600 Ram, single stick
- Windows 8.1 (had the same problem with win 8)

On every game i play i get random freezes, random crashes, random BSODs, some games do crash more frequently than others, i've tried older drivers, i've also formatted my pc but the problem is still there...
Im not using any antivirus, windows defender is enough for me.
What gets on my nerves the most is that even on old games like quake live do crashand sometime it also gives me BSODs, the fps are constant and quite high but i randomly get freezes (about 0,5 - 1 second long)...

another example, im playing SMITE, i get 80-150 fps but the game crashes every 2-5 mins, this game rarely gives me BSODs, when im lucky the game wont crash for 20-30min, but its very rare. the gpu can reach 80-85?C.
With "crash" i mean black screen with a window saying "Game.exe has stopped working"

Hello,
I'm trying to push out the update for the CVE-2017-11937 and CVE-2017-11940 vulnerabilities through WSUS but I can't find the KB# for either of them. Anyone know what KB# these two have?
Thanks!
