Preferred Solution: My Lenovo Ideapad S510p Disply not working but black light is on

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: My Lenovo Ideapad S510p Disply not working but black light is on

Hi themr2,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Just to verify, was there any display from the BIOS setup screen on the built-in LCD?
Turn off the laptop and use the Novo button (item8 page 74) to power on the machine.

This would show up the Novo Menu screen for BIOS setup option.
Is this screen visible on the LCD itself?

Update us how it goes.

I have recently bought new laptop and was super happy about it.As soon as i upgraded to windows 8.1 I have noticed a problem in "waking up". After not using comupter for 30 min or so, laptop instead of going into sleeping mode does something else - monitor goes black and does not come up at all. The monitor screen lights up like it's working, but nothing is displayed. The only thing I can do is to hold down the power button until it force shuts off, and then start it up again. The problem does not occur if i close the lid to 'force' sleeping mode - it wakes up perfectly. Another problem is not working bluetooth device.  the moment I connect any device to my laptop connection is lost. I made sure that PC can share files, that the bluetooth is on and all other stuff that i can think of. I tried to solve this problem by troubleshooting- it discovered few problems but was unable to fix them. Please help me

Hi, If it's not one thing, it's another! I feel like my laptop bought in 2013 is falling apart on me now all of a sudden! When it pours, it rains, basically. Not happy. 1) the cover cracked at the hinges a few months after I got the laptop. Didn't think it was an issue. Wasn't an issue until number 2 happened. I then put black electric tape across the cracks on the cover.2) the display is separated from the cover. I put black electric tape all over it.3) the right hinge is popping in and out. I keep popping it in and out. Can't really open or close it without the hinge acting up, so can't use it as a laptop, only as a desktop. That is really annoying, if you ask me. and now, for the piece de resistance: 4) the AC converter is no longer working. Where do I find an AC converter for Lenovo Ideapad S510p Touch model # WB12764324? In the meantime, I'm borrowing a Lenovo Thinkpad AC converter. HI Support.I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad S510p with WIN8 as a gift,  and now I need to reinstallt this with an operating system that they feel comfortable in using. It will be WIN7SP1.Is there any known issues with this version and WIN7 so I cant "downgrade" it to WIN7?Or do you think I will be able to find all related drivers to win7?Guess I cant buy image from you for this? Thanks for help..

Answer:Reinstall Lenovo IdeaPad S510p With Windows 7 sp1

hi Indigo_SWE,

Welcome to the Forums.

Regarding your questions:
1: As the drivers for Windows 7 are available in the Lenovo support site, downgrading the S510p to Window 7 is definitely possible. One thing to note though is that the Lenovo Energy Management for Windows 7 is not available yet so you may have some problems toggling the Fn key combinations. Check this article for more info about Lenovo Energy Management.

Other issues found by other users:
Windows 7 Combo Jack Realtek driver problem
Ideapad s510p driver problem Win7[

2. As most of the drivers are available in the lenovo website, you may also need to visit the maker of the device (i.e. Intel website for Intel Graphics driver) in an event that the oem driver fails to load.

3. AFAIK, if a certain unit only comes with preloaded Windows 8 standard, the recovery image.will just be Windows 8 standard. You may need to use a retail copy of Windows 7 to downgrade.

Hi. I bought my lenovo ideapad s510p 4 weeks ago, it worked perfectly fine the first 14-17 days, but then it suddenly began spiking when I played the online moba League of Legends. At first I thought it was a problem with my router, got a new one, the problem was still there, then I tried lots of different advice from friends, but that didnt work either. Then I tried to update my network drivers, but the problem was still there. I then thought to myself, maybe this problem is only when I play this game, but I made ping test to the google server and i saw 11ms and then it spiked too 300+. I don't know what the problem is, but if someone could help me out it would be appreciated .

HiI have a new ideapad S510p, just about a year old.Suddenly, when I start my laptop there is a beep, with a message saying keyboard is disconnected. The keyboard doesnt work, so I have to use the onscreen keyboard to type my login password.Strangely though, after start up, if I keep the laptop in sleep mode - and then press any key on keyboard, then the laptop comes out of sleep mode.Which means keyboard input is still being recognised. But I am still not able to use the keyboard to type - only the brightness hotkey and display off hotkey are working on keyboard. Please advise how to fix this keyboard issue. Thanks Deepen

The laptop can not receive a charge from the charger. I have tried taking out the battery and only having the charger plugged in but it does not allow the laptop to turn on because there is no power/connection going on. The charger connection to the laptop seems loose and it doesnt seem like it is staying in. To me it looks like the charging port is too far into the laptop now and the charger connection cannot reach that far inside to connect anymore.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can try checking the actual DC IN Jack first inside your laptop.
You can refer to this maintenance Manual on how to get access of that part in your Computer.

If you think it is Defective you can check the part number on that manual and Call Lenovo to check on how to purchase the part or Check onlinse resellers about the part number and its availability.

Hi, I got a new Lenovo Ideapad S510p laptop about a month ago. When I went to bed last night, I just flipped down the screen so it went into sleep mode instead. When I started the computer this morning, the touchpad only worked for 2 seconds. I tried pressing the button that would enable/disable the touchpad, but nothing happened. I plugged in an "external" mouse, and that worked fine. I tried uninstalling the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and then download the one from the Lenove website, but that changed nothing. When I plug out my mouse, the mouse pointer dissapears from the screen. There's absolutely NO Synaptics process running on the computer, and if I go into "Device Manager", I can only see my external mouse. If I plug out the mouse, nothing is showing up.  I really need help. I don't want to be dragging a mouse around all the time.  Thanks in advance,  Oh, and it's might worth mentioning that I run Windows 8.1.

I know a few others have asked this question, but I haven't seen anyone report a solution or any follow-up to suggestions given. Here's what happened: my touch screen worked normally on Friday, then I went away for the weekend and didn't use my laptop and when I started working on Monday I realized my touch screen didn't work. Here's what I have done to try to fix it:1. Restarted the computer2. Disabled & enabled the HID-compliant touch screen in the Device Manager 3. Disabled & enabled the Generic PnP Monitor in the Device Manager4. Checked for driver updates for the touch screen (it said the most up-to-date driver is already installed)5. Tried to roll back the driver for the touch screen, but that button was greyed out, so it wasn't an option6. Unstalled the most recent Windows updates (there were a couple from the previous week)7. Unstalled the HID-compliant touch screen (but when I restarted the computer, there it was again)8. Talked to the IT guy for my work, who said I did everything he would have done, and suggested that I write a post on this forum. I saw a suggestion in another thread that the driver for the touch screen could be corrupted, but I didn't really see any instructions on how to unstall/reinstall the driver itself. I would like to try that if someone could tell me how that's done. Any other ideas? My Lenovo is probably 4-5 years old, Windows 10 for well over a year, installed a new anti-virus software a few months ago with no issues... Read more

This computer is not even a week old. When this first happened I saw that on the bottom side of the laptop were two switches, one for the battery and I guess one for the touch screen, by the way there is not literature on what so ever, and after flipping the switch the touch screen worked perfectly for about a day. Now it has stopped working again, but the switch is in the correct position. All of my drivers are up to date. I am so frustrated with this. the mouse works fine, it is just the touch screen. Please, someone tell me you have had a similar issue with this series of the ideapad and that you have been able to fix it, I really don't want to have to send it in as I use it everyday for work.

Answer:Ideapad s510p touch screen stopped working

Hi eking4044, welcome to the forum,

     Here is your user guide:
http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_s410ps410ptouchs510ps510ptouch_ug_english.pd...

     Here is your HMM:

http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_s410ps410ptouchs510ps510ptouch_hmm.pdf

Both of those "switches" on the bottom are for the battery. One is a spring loaded switch to open battery, after you push the other one into the open position. This is how you remove the battery, and have nothing to do with the Touch Screen.

Did you delete any of the software that came with your system? The easiest thing you could do is backup your user files to a CD, or some external hard drive, then reset your system using the system recovery. See page 20 of the user guide for the recovery routine. Make sure you have a backup of your user files, before attempting the recovery, as it will set up your system like new. This should solve your problem, but if it doesn't, please post back with further information.

Cheers

After trying all advance recovery options and that you are willing to start fresh, you may want to factory restore it.
One Key Recovery (page 20) can be launch by pressing the Novo button (item8 page 74) while the pc is off to power on. Novo Menu should appear to offer System Recovery , one key recovery from initial backup.

Hoping that the harddisk / OKR image is still viable , things should proceed as plan .
Else check on this option:
Booting to Recovery Environment with Windows 8/8.1 installation media or Recovery Drive/System Repai...

Hope this helps.
Update us how it goes for you.

Hi all,I recently bought a Lenovo S410p and wanted to install Window 7 - Home Edition. I faced a number of issues - At BIOS level, then it refused to detect USB 2.0, then it refused to install latest Nvidia GEForce drivers (need to install some intel driver but no idea which one it should be!) . It was a nightmare! While doing that, I realized, my touch pad was a bit damaged, the buttons seem to be depressed, it was causing a ridge between the pad and the keys - quite annoying. I took it back to the stores, they did not have another S410p - Hence I settled for the larger screen S510p - paid the difference. Good service from Lenovo! Now back home and tried installing Windows 7 - All the same problems surfaced again. Tinkered for a week and no luck! Then I decided to clean everything up and start from scratch. Trust me it worked this time! I am not a computer geek but a normal user with very limited/basic knowledge. Let me explain what I did,I. BIOS/UEFI Setup1. You can enter the BIOS by pressing Fn+F2 key during laptop startup.2. Tab: Configuration - Make sure "USB Legacy" is "Enabled". Leave the rest as is.3. Tab: Boot - Here are few things that need to be set,  a. Boot Mode ? ?Legacy Support?  b. Boot Priority ? ?Legacy First?  c. USB Boot ? ?Enabled? ? Answer:Lenovo Ideapad S410p/S510p - Windows 7 installation issues - USB Ports, Nvidia Graphics Install

How on earth did you get this working? I've just installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a brand new Lenovo Ideapad S410p, and NONE of the drivers will install properly without the machine physically locking up! They extract into the C:\drivers folder correctly, then after accepting terms and conditions, the install starts and randomly locks the machine. It's taken me a day just to get the Intel Chipset and Management steps done, but the LAN driver just will not take.

I have been using the Blue Light Reduction feature of the Lenovo Settings app for months and it is really useful in cutting down blue light at night and it makes it easier to sleep at night after working on my computer.  Looks like there was a recent software update and I no longer see any option to enable the Blue Light Reduction feature in the Lenovo Settings utility.  Has anyone else experienced this? How can I fix this and reenable Blue Light Reduction in the Lenovo Settings app?

I have the IdeaPad S510p touch, which seems to have a similar problem as other Lenovo models where the touch screen seems to stop working intermittently.  It seems to stop working after a while or after it has been sleeping.  It starts working again randomly.  I tried downloading a driver for a different model, but it didn't load or allow me to open it.  I just got this computer a few days ago.  I'm not sure if it is better just to take it back to the store, but I am concerned that this problem will exist even if I exchange it for a new one...

Answer:Touch Screen intermittently working (IdeaPad S510p touch)

Hello... I have an ideapad S510p, about 4 months old. Today, the touch screen stopped working. In the middle of using an app and using the touch screen. I searched all through settings and can't find anywhere to adjust its settings or anything. And in fact I saw that this computer "Has no touch/pen screen", which it does. Or it did until about an hour ago. I am relatively clueless but i'm learning. And would like some instruction/options. ThanksJohnpal716

I have a LeNovo IdeaPad 100-15IBD, Model Name 80QQ, purchased Feb 2015. When I try to power it up, the power light comes on and the battery light comes on, but there's no fan and the screen is black. If I press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (with the lights on) the lights go off again, which I presume is doing a hard power down. I have tried removing the AC power and the battery (which involves taking the keyboard off first!), leaving it an hour, pressing and holding the power button several times for 20 seconds each, then plugging the battery and AC back in and powering up - but the symptoms are unchanged - power light, battery light, no fan, black screen. I have tried the "One Key Recovery" procedure using the Novo key - this produces the same symptoms as a normal power up - power light and battery light come on, but no screen and no fan. Any suggestions? I'm still in warranty so worst case I can send it off to get it fixed, but I'd rather find a way to fix it myself and not have to send it away.

So several months ago my laptop started to have a problem where periodically the power light would begin flashing as well as the charging light. The power light would blink a while color that it normally is and the charging light would blink orange. When this happens the battery will stop charging, but will occasionally resume if I unplug and replug the power. I don't think this is a battery related problem because if I try to boot up my latpop without the battery in, it will get half way through then it will just shut off. I should note that when the battery is plugged in I have the flashing light problem during start up but it will usually be fixed with unplugging and replugging the power cord a time or two. This is a really frustrating problem and really limits what I can use my laptop for these days and I'd like to see if it's something that can be fixed at a reasonable cost.

I diagnose that the Smart Update on my U310 has been deleted by the system along with other software as it resets the laptop. Now the Power light keeps blinking and doesn't stop till the system is shutdown. Desperately look forward to some support to resolve this issue.

Hi all, Just a quick one: is there any possible way to remove a light scratch from the inside of the Ideapad 320's laptop lid (screen side)? Searched around for methods but the plastic on this looks different to normal glossy plastics so I was unsure as to what to do incase of making it worse.  I've attached a photo image of the scratch, thanks in advance for any help! Luke.

Hi all,This is my first post.I tried to find my problem with my laptop but i did not find anything similar. The story:Several months ago the hinges of my laptop started to slacken. After this (warranty period expired) i opened the pc and repaired them with stronger screws. In the same time the lcd screen started to flicker. I had to move or press it to obtain the correct colours or light. So i decided to disassemble it and try to find the fault.Unfortunalely during this operation tpouching the pcb (in the place were written "do not touch!) the screen bacame black. Using a light in the back i can see everything, so it meens that there is no more back light.Using an external monitor the video is perfect. My qýuestion:I am quite sure i have to replace the LCD that was defective (i knew i had to do but i attempted to fix it temporarily) but now i am afraid i broke something in the main PCB.Do you think a simple replacement will resolve? Do i have to control something else than the screen?I apologize for my english, but i hope i have been able to be understood.Thanx all.

Answer:Ideapad Z500 Keyboard back light - stopped working after Windows 10 upgrade

Update: I purchased a genuine second hand keyboard online fo £22.00 and the backlight is working perfectly. A good way to test the functionaility of your keyboard is to see if the light comes on during the boot-up. If it does not then it is either a loose connection or a faulty keyboard. It is worth opening up the keyboarg to see if there is a loose connection...see this video on how to do it, it very simple and will take you less than 5 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lK4mKT_7gA If the connection are ok and you still do not see the back light working during the boot up, then I am afraid to say that you have a faulty keyboard. Don't waste you time like I did trying to get it to work...get a replacement!

Hello,My 3 year old Ideapad S510P/Windows 10 started with a boot problem a few weeks ago. The symptom was that the power light came on, the disk started to spin and then 2 seconds later it shut down with the power light extinguished. About 15 seconds later this repeated and after a few attempts it would boot normally.Last week it just stuck with the routine of trying to start - as above - and kept trying until I removed the battery. The disk has been connected to another PC and is functional. I tried a new memory module to no effect, and also tried the routine of removing the battery, pressing power a few times and then trying to boot. Problem is identical on battery, battery + external charge and external charge only.Nothing moves it beyond repeatedly doing the 2-3 second start-up loop.Anyone got a suggestion other than send it for recycling? Thanks,

Answer:Ideapad s510p keys interchanged

hi Mahvash,

Were these keys working before? Also, just to verify, is the S510p using an english keyboard layout like in this picture? If it is, can you try the following:

1. check if the OS is using an english keyboard by pressing the Windows key? +C > Settings > Change PC Settings > Time and Language > Region and language. On the selections, ensure that the Country/Region is in US and language is English (United States)

- Link to picture

2. If the problem remains, boot in Safe Mode and test (this will isolate any third party softwares that might be interferring with the keyboard layout).

3. Temporarily use a usb keyboard and see if the problem remains.

If using an external keyboard works then there's most likely a short in the keyboard ribbon. In this case, you will need to contact lenovo for service.

Hi Mahvash,

As per the information available in the User Guide this model of computer has combo audio Jack and the combo audio jack does not support conventional microphones and also the recording function may not be supported if third-party headphones or headsets are connected, due to different industry standards. so when plugged into the adapter, my computer runs slow/lags,but on battery power, it runs much better. cpu i7 4500u 1.8mhz  up to 3.0 mhz when plugged in cpu = 0.7 mhz  but on battery cpu = from 1.8 to 2.9 mhz I've tried many things, and have read many other forums. I just want to find an actual solution. I've done many of the obvious "fixes," such as updated drivers, modifying power plan, and viewing task manager.

Couple months ago I purchased my new laptop, so far it's worked great, just getting use to Windows 8 is a bit tough. I frequently take my laptop to locations that have no power outlets available and so have to rely on the battery, typically I'm working with Video and audio files which put a big drain on the battery. I thought no biggie, I'll go buy a second battery from Batteries Plus, a local battery store, problem is they can't find any information on this laptop or the battery, so I went on the Lenovo website and I also can't find the information on my laptop which is the i3 series Ideapad S510p Touch with the 500gb hdd 6gb ram, Does Lenovo use different numbers for this system? I purchased the laptop from Office Depot and haven't checked with them yet regarding parts specific to this laptop because I think the company that makes this thing should have information about it. Not too encouraging to see the number of support complaints regarding Lenovo computers, but mine is working as expected so far, just need a second or larger battery and then I'll upgrade the memory and be good.Any one got a link to help? Thanks

Hi,I have Lenovo ideapad S510p Notebook With Windows 10 Pro (x64). The speakers on the notebook are not giving sound sometimes but when i plug in the headphone or earphone in the jack, it gives sound all the time. The notification which is given when plug is inserted in the headphone jack is not working. It thinks that the headphones are always inserted so it doesn't give sound from speakers while there is no headphone plug in the headphone jack.I have tried uninstalling the Realtek Audio Driver and installing the latest version of the Audio driver.I think the sensor or something which makes the laptop know that there is nothing inserted in the headphone is not working. Please help.  Thanks in advance. Regards.

I have an Ideapad S510p that has had a touchscreen failure.  It appears that the drivers have "disappeared" and I cannot locate a new driver for the touchscreeen on the Lenovo site.  I have searched for the solution and all the answers point to a simple check box in the Control Panel that should activate the function but when I look for it, it simply is not there.  Any suggestions?

Hey all, I've been having some problems with starting up my IdeaPad.  When I hit the power button, it usually just turns on for a sec, then powers right off.  If I hold it down, it lights up for a bit, then lets out a loud BEEP for a few seconds, then goes back to being off.  I've tried holding down the power button while the battery and AC are unplugged, but nothing seems to help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:Ideapad s510p touch won't turn on

hi mike829,

Welcoem to Lenovo Community Forums!

I would suggest Checking the RAM and the HDD.

You will need to take them out and reinstall them one by one starting with the RAM.

The computer will turn on without the HDD so i suggest remove the HDD first then try testing out the RAM.

See if this will show any difference on hoe the system behaves now.

You can check this Maintenance Manual on how to get access to the parts

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Answer:Does Lenovo IdeaPad 700 15.6" black model have JBL...

Hi wicharit  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking on shop.lenovo.com ( noticed the photo seems not showing the JBL logo)

Better way ( view models tab ) getting a machine number to verify parts listed on that model (ex. 80RU00APUS )

Based on parts lookup page:  JBL speakers available , upper case JBL cover mark
Part number : 5SB0K85910 Speaker W 80RU R+L NJBL SPEAKERS INTERNAL
Part number : 5CB0L03571 UpperCaseW80RU BK BLNJBL W/KB USA COVERS

Pulled up a different page for a black and red topcover and it showed red JBL logo just above the keyboard (price a little different from the first)

It may be a top cover design that may show of a different part number but basically checking on the parts lookup page using the machine number is technically preferred for verification.

Hope this helps.

Hi, my name is Ben and i own a 2 year old Lenovo Y530 laptop with windows Vista Home Premium.Everything was working fine, when one day about a month and a half ago, i got the "blue screen of death".Better known as an error code, where your computer crashes.I then proceeded to re-install windows vista, where then it failed to install the updates, and only after a very short amount of time of actually being in the desktop of the computer, it crashed once more, giving the classic error message of it might be something new that was installed, or new hardware, when in reality i didn't install or add/remove any new equipment whatsoever.I bought this Laptop in the US 2 years ago in late 2008, and then moved to Israel. So here is the real problem, after checking the HDD for bugs, or viruses, it was fpormatted, and put back in, also following a system recovery from Lenovos one click recovery system. And found that neither the HDD, or the OS was trhe problem. So since i live in Israel, i sent it to my local Lenovo shop, where they said they do not fix these types of lenovo laptops! So how am i supposed to get to the bottom of this issue? if my local computer lenovo store does not fix my model of computer?I would like an answer ASAP because i need this computer for school and such, and the information that was lost is irrelevant, i would just like the computer to be functioning and stable again.Thank you, and much regards,Ben.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Crashed, not working, no tech support, need expert/lenovo technician advice

To be covered by warranty, your laptop must have IWS (International Warranty Service). That's the only way to get covered. http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/UserFiles/IWS/20100909035858_62.htm Best regards.

Answer:have ideapad s510p touch and cannot get my webcam to be detected?

hi heminfiver,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Open Device Manager (press Windows key+R > type devmgmt.msc) and check if there's an Imaging Devices area that list a "Lenovo Easy Camera" or similar.
2. On the metro apps, launch Camera and observe if the camera lights up.

If there's no camera listed under Device Manager > Imaging Devices and the camera doesn't lights up, try to:
3. Boot into the BIOS (press Fn+F2 upon restart). When you're in, press Fn+F9 to reset default settings and check if there's a Webcam option in the Configuration Tab. If there's none, press F10 to save and exit BIOS and observe.

If the camera still doesn't work, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue.

I am receiving an unauthorized battery warning every time I start my computer. I have played with the power settings and installed updates to no avail. I have also tried doing a hard reset. I'm not sure what exactly caused the problem as I have not installed any new software (other than system updates) and I am still using the original battery that came with the computer when I bought it. I have seen similar issues with other models but have not found anything specifically related to this Ideapad. Any suggestions? I would be grateful for any help you can give.

Hello, recently I bought new laptop IdeaPad S510p, everything is good, except I see random blue screens (bsod). No memory dumps are saved, so I only can say, that laptop came without OS, so I installed Windows 8.1 with latest updates and newest available drivers.

Anyone have ideas what can I do? Except return to warranty, because seller told me that I will have to wait 1.5 months till I get my laptop back.

hi there.              I have Ideapad S510p laptop with Windows 10 Pro. The battery of the laptop was working fine but some weeks ago when laptop was idle and battery got drained to 0% and laptop got shut down as battery got totally drained then after that i started laptop & tried to charge battery, it won't charge. It shows 1% and charging but it won't go any further for hours and after some hours it would show notification pop up that its battery has gone to 0%. yes the battery is old but it should show only 1%. Why is it doing that? any solution to this? Also what can i do to caliberate new battery and that it shows correct time and notifications? Please help me with this.

Answer:Ideapad S510p battery not charging and stuck at 1%

Hi Sentient,

Greetings.

I would suggest trying to remove the AC charger and battery and follow recommended power check out from the hardware manual (page 21-22 Checking operational charging and Checking the battery pack).

Without the AC adapter and battery, press down the power button for 30 seconds to drain remaining flea power and try to connect the battery and AC adapter back after 1 hour (placing the battery in a dry room temperature).

Without turning the laptop on, allow it to stay connected with the charger for 1-2 hours as it should show the battery indicator LED to change from solid amber to fast blinking amber to slow blinking to white LED as shown in the status indicator guide (page28).

Above direction would at least give hint on the hardware integrity of the battery.
Otherwise, if the issue is with software detection, you may check on the same steps described here in this discussion.

Update us how things go.

Regards

I have a Lenovo Ideapad S510p, running on Windows 10, but I've had this problem since before I upgraded (I don't remember if it was Windows 7 or 8). Basically, my CD drive is nowhere to be found under My Computer, nor in the Hardware tab. When I press the button on the drive, though, the light lights up, but doesn't eject. Inserting a pin into the tiny hole beside the button (as suggested in another forum) did not help. Following the instructions here didn't help either; I couldn't find the registry entry. I believe it may be a software problem, but I have no idea how to fix it. (I'm not a very tech person unfortunately)

I have bought S510p two months back now it has developed a booting problem. As soon it boots it does not show BIOS screen instead behaves like sleep mode ( blink of power button with some kind of dvd drive rotate sound not sure). When called customer care they told that it may be static charge so they asked to remove battery and press pwer button for some time (~50 seconds) then again do same for (~10 seconds). This process did not help either.Lenovo customer care told after that it is a normal behaviour and need not to worry about it. Not sure how this behaviour of new laptop is normal.Anyone facing same problem and is there any solution to it.
