Preferred Solution: Why is my edge blocking my website?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does anyone know how to prevent Edge from running using AppLocker rules?

I've tried various AppLocker rules to block Edge but Edge keeps running.

If you have managed to block Edge using AppLocker, what rules did you create for this block to work?

Since a recent system update, I've been having trouble accessing sites using Edge. I can get into home pages but as soon as I try to navigate to any sub-page requiring a log-in I get a warning message that the site's security certificate is invalid and I'm blocked from going any further. If I switch to Firefox or Chrome I don't have the same problem. I prefer using Edge as all my favourites are saved there - but currently I can't make full use of them! A fix would be appreciated.

I just installed Windows 10 a few hours ago, and i did a few set ups.

-Had to re-install security Kaspersky Antivirus since i had to remove in order to install the new Windows (wouldn't let me)
-Tried re-installing Comodo, but installer from Windows 8.1 (migrated with no files deleting) was corrupted. When i tried to download, saw Comodo doesn't support the firewall anymore, so i chose an alternative: TinyWall. It gave me a few problems at first, it blocked literally everything. I touched some stuff and added the needed exceptions. Now Edge connets to internet, as before it didn't, nor did any other browser. I can browse ALL OVER THE WEB, ALL OF IT. Except Google. Like Microsoft's trolling me making me choose Bing, i cannot access to google.com or any extension for any country.

Anyone suffered this? I tried rebooting, and even turning TinyWall off.

Message i'm getting: regular "We can't access this page, try this"..

Hey guys,
I've spent several hours trying to work out how to block ads in Project Spartan, and I've found a solution, using a feature from IE called "Content Blocking".
It's a fairly long-winded process since it's not natively activated in Spartan, but it works. It also involves some manual labor, so sit tight and read on!
The first thing you want to do is open IE (Yes IE, you'll see why later) and go to this link. (It's an official MS site, so it's safe.)
The next step is to chose a list to block content. It doesn't really matter which one you chose, but I personally use 'Easy List'. Just go ahead and tap "Add TPL" next to the list.
Here's where the long-winded process starts. Open Windows Explorer (Win+E) and navigate to 'C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Internet Explorer' And in that path there should be a folder called "Tracking Protection". Open it and copy the file within somewhere safe, Desktop for example.
Now it gets a little more tricky, I've had slight variations of the location of the folder during testing. The best way to find the Spartan 'Tracking protection' folder is to navigate to your C drive in explorer, and search the local disk for "Tracking Protection". You should get two folders, one for IE and one for Spartan. It's easy to tell them apart from their paths. Open the Spartan "Tracking Protection" folder.
Finally, paste the file you copied from IE into that folder. Open Spartan and you're done!
I hope this helped people that have been searching... Read more

Question: Website Blocking

I have been looking for a way to block certain websites so that they cannot be accessed from my computer. It seems as though every answer to this question only applies to Windows. Does anyone know of a way to do this on a Mac with the Safari browser?

Answer:Website Blocking

SkipJohnson, if you have a router, try entering the router administration configuration. Your router may have filtering software or the ability to block specific URL's. Look through the Safari settings and see if you can find something for internet filtering, specifically a RASCI setting, or other identifying software. Also, if that doesn't work, switch to FireFox, and then go to the following URL:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=parental&status=4Download FireFox at: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/You will find that FireFox is more capable than Safari... Safari is very limited, and just not very supportive of all scripting.

Question: blocking a website

I am currently working on a customers computer and he has requested that I block a site, so his teenage daughter cannot access it. I have attempted to input the site in restricted sites, yet I can still access the site and the other buttons, which take me to other pages.
I am hoping that either A) I can simpley do it myself, or B) find a program that will resolve my issue.
He also uses SBC/Yahoo DSL and I haven't really messed with this before.

Thanks in advanced.

Answer:blocking a website

The program below will install many bad sites in your restricted sites zone for IE.(I use this program)

- Download IE-Spyad from here: https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/res/ie-spyad.zip
- Double click on my computer icon
- Click on there main drive (eg;C)
- Right click and click on create new folder
- Name the folder ie-spyad (eg;C:\ie-spyad)
- Extract all the files from the zip file to that folder
- Go back to the ie-spyad folder
- Double click on the install.bat file
- Press 2 on your keyboard
- Let it install then press anykey once its done too exit

- Lets see if it worked.
- Double click on Internet Explorer icon
- Go to the Tools tab
- Click on Internet Options from the drop down menu
- Click on the Security tab
- Click on Restricted Sites icon
- Click on 'Sites'
- If it takes awhile too load thats ok, once done you should see a list of restricted sites.

The site you may be wanting to block may be in the list but not 100% sure. Just try the site after making sure IE-Spyad was installed correctly.

Question: Blocking a website

Ok I was just wondering if there is a way to prevent people from visiting yahoo and all associated sites such as the gaming part on my comp?

Thanks

Answer:Blocking a website

dont know why you would wnt to do this but yes. Your hosts file will either be located in c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc or c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc depending on what version of windows you have. First right click on the file called hosts, click properties and make sure the read only box is unchecked. Next, open the file in notepad. under 127.0.0.1 localhost type:
games.yahoo.com 127.0.0.1
(spaces between name and IP denote a tab indent)
and then:
yahoo.com 127.0.0.1

then goto file>save and select under save as file type :all files and name it hosts and remove the .txt it should have no extensions

I can confirm that Google chrome's popup blocker absolutely sucks. It couldn't block even half of the popups I get. I have to install Popup Blocker (strict) extension to strengthen GC's popup blocker

DEREK - This is a domestic issue not a corporate one ?!! It is my PC and no reasonable access to sites such as for my car insurance, OFFICIAL uk government sites and personal banking or even business banking of a company I am Director of should be blocked. I am pretty sure by removing the lines in the local host would remove the blocks anyway, I WAS JUST INTERESTED TO KNOW WHY SOME URL's CONTINUED TO WORK - CAN'T SEE ANY HARM IN THAT! I am NOT trying to circumnavigate anything corporate or official, just trying to disentangle myself and become more self sufficient from a controlling fraud.

Answer:Avast is blocking a website

I am a bit of a novice and as such I don't feel I have the knowledge to help you. Just posting here to share my experiences with Avast! (free suite) to say that I got a fair amount of false-positives and even got blocked out of my own profile page on another site on a number of occasions. I tried playing around with the settings, hardened mode etc, but to no avail.
Recently switched back to Windows Defender (in Win10) and use in conjunction with Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit and Zemana Anti-Logger. No false-pozzies any more, all good! I feel I have a pretty good combo going on here, although time will tell, I guess! All seems very light on CPU usage as well....so far so good!
Best of luck with sorting the issues you are having.

I would like to get software for blocking certin sites from my kids while they play and surf the net what do you all suggest?

Answer:Which is the best software for website blocking

I'm not sure about free programs, but here's a couple of paid programs I've heard good things about:
CyberSieve: www.softforyou.com/cs-index.html
Net Nanny: www.netnanny.com
I have friends with kids, and both of the above are highly recommended. CyberSieve has ALOT of settings: you can even limit web access to certain times of day; like from 4 to 6pm, and you can limit the sites visited during this time also. Net Nanny is alot easier to use (from what I hear), so if you're more of a novice, NN may be for you..... Check 'em out and let us know what you choose, and why!

I have Linksys wireless boradband router(WRT54G), using its built-in "access restrictions" i added the above site but it failed to block access. I entered a second website (www.cheese.com) to block in the same policy and this is blocked, so it is not an mistake in the configuration of the policy.

I then tried blocking access via Internet Explorers restricted access option, this also fails to block access attempts to the formentioned site.

I also tried a search in google.co.uk for the String "imperiaonline", amazingly it times out every time whereas any other search takes under a second for the results to be displayed... which seems a little dodgy to me.

If anyone has any information regarding this site or any suggestions on how i might go about blocking this website or if anyone could test blocking this site on any installed applciations you may use to prove it works, it would be most appreciated.
Its IE6 but it isnt being blocked in Firefox either.

Thanks,

Nnahrino.

Answer:Blocking a specific website

I think you have to block imperiaonline.org also because I went there with www.imperiaonline.org and imperiaonline.org so if you blocke the one it just used the other that you did not have blocked.

You could also block the site with your hosts file.
But your need to add both
www.imperiaonline.org
imperiaonline.org

Also www3.imperiaonline.org wanted to set a cookie so add it too.

I have a personal website and I need to block a couple of people from visiting it. I have been in contact with the company hosting my website but they have not replied as yet.

Is there an easy way of doing this?

Thanks

Answer:Website - Blocking Visitors

Yes you can block by IP address, but they may get DHCP from there Internet Provider which in turn means they will have a new IP address. The company that hosts your site, they will need to block them from your website.

I don't use Sygate, but I am working with somebody on the HJT forum who has Windows ME. She was running without a firewall, so I suggested she install Sygate, because I know it works with that OS. She managed to get it installed, but now she cannot post replies to her topic from her computer. She had to use another computer to convey this information to me.

Anybody here using Sygate? If so, please share your configuration information.

Also, if anybody knows of a good online Sygate tutorial, please let me know.

I have/had the same problem, dont want my 10 year old sister going onto porn sites or using my r rated games hehe... I looking into that kind of software but it is terribly expensive unless it is for a school or university or something. If it is just you and one more person using that computer, you'd be better off buying a cheap system for $300 or so.

Hi, new guy here. Not real computer savvy either. I've visited a gov website www.blm.gov dozens of times. I click on the LR2000 link and it used to open. Now doesn't. The requirements are Have TLS 1.0 enabled, let their popups come through or popup blocker disabled, IE6 or higher, and enable scripting. I have all their requirements met, but the link will not open anymore. I don't get any error message, just the little spinning "keep your shirt on" thing.
I can get it on my phone. I called the BLM and talked to them, but no help. The problem seems to be with my pc blocking the link from opening. I use Windows 7 and IE 10. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance

Good day,

I will walk you step by step through my scenario, and I hope if you could help.
I used to block certain websites by using the hosts file (the traditional way).
for example, adding the following entry:
127.0.0.1 facebook.com

But if you use a proxy server, you will bypass the hosts file...

Anyway, I moved to the next level, I configured a DNS server in my enterprise and made all Internet requests go through it, and when a desired website is requested, I added an entry for that website inside the Forwarders tab inside the DNS properties.
When that site is requested, and instead of directing the requests to the actual preferred DNS server provided by my ISP, I redirect it to a local IP on my network, resulting in a "website not found" error....

But even this technique is not working when the user uses a proxy server inside Firefox or IE! I just don't know what to do more! Do I need to filter requests inside the router? It's not recommended! I mean if I have DNS server shouldn't I be able to use that huge control provided to me?

Awaiting your replies...
Thanks in advance...

Hi. I was having a problem opening up a customer login on a car insurance website and when I googled why this would be, I discovered that my pc has listed this and a couple of other sites on the local host to block my access to it. This is my personal machine but my ex as an IT Consultant is still administrator on all our systems. However, several of the domains listed is for a bank and although still listed to be looped back to my IP address, and therefore blocked by the loop, they do still work...how is this possible? Is the fact that they are approved by VeriSign make a difference? The other domains blocked don't work and loop back to my machine. This is isn't a corporate issue as I think was mistakenly assumed in last response. Thanks.

As the title says I have a question about malwarebytes website blocking, I didn't find anything on the website about it. Does anyone know anything about it?

Answer:Question about malwarebytes website blocking

All I know is that it locks me out of certain websites. They simply won't load.

As I understand it, they use a database of supposed "attack" websites that is constantly revised. I can't say how valid that information is.

I'm not sure if you can "whitelist" a website so it will load regardless.

Hi. I have been a member of an aviation based forum for many years. It recently upgraded to BB3 (whatever that is!) Everything was fine untill one day I posted a thread and from then on I have not been able to access the site. It comes up Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. When I diagnose the connection problems, it says the site is fine but a firewall may be blocking the website. It says it may be remote, but if I have access to it , then I can configure it through TCP port 80. I looked at this, but it seems to be only for programs.

I have scanned my computer, and checked both Windows and MacAfee firewalls, and everything seems fine. All other websites I visit are fine. Can anyone please help?

I have designed a website which contains photographs under copyright. I am happy for the pictures to be on the website but want to block them from being copied by anyone visiting the website. I know that it is possible to do this. Can anyone kindly tell me how I go about this please? Thank you.Paul, Web designer.

Answer:Website - blocking copying of photos

In short there isn?t a way of blocking content from being copied. Scripts that ban right click don?t work with browsers like Opera, and if you use likes of JavaScript people can turn this option off and by pass it anyway. And if you do implement anything, theres always the print screen button to just take a screen shot anyway.Your best bet to protect your images, is to include a watermark logo with your web page address etc in a prominent position and of course being large enough so it cant just be edited out by cropping or touching up.Do people look at the site need to see a large high quality image? By reducing the file size you will render the image unsuitable for quality print out.I know this isn?t what you wanted to hear, but I hope this has helped you.

I picked up this virus when I searched for winrar in google and downloaded it from what I thought was www.download.com (it looks like the real site but it had a different url). After installing the download, both Windows Defender and my antivirus (McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i) informed me that it was a virus and was removed. Except that it wasn't! The symptoms of the virus are when I try to access google it will always redirect me to a suspicious looking "Microsoft Security Center" telling me this: Alert : Your computer have been attacked by spyware or viruses! Please download AntiSpyware to fix.Download AntiSpyware Now (Hyperlink) (Although I've never clicked on the download link, it links to www.antispy.com)Also, the virus appears to block certain popular web addresses including www.bbc.co.uk, www.amazon.com, www.facebook.com etc. Whenever I attempt to access these sites the page displayed showing "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)". This affects both Firefox (my default browser) and Internet Explorer. Curiously, this blocking appear to only affect pagess with specific addresses e.g. I can access http://news.bbc.co.uk/ but not its home page.I've performed full scan using Windows Defender and McAfee Antivirus, but they found nothing. Hi,

I am looking for a decent employee monitoring software that will monitor a user activity. The client wants to be able to see what the user is doing in the past so a DVR style system. Does anyone have any recommendations or use any products that works well that does this kind of thing.

The other thing is he needs a way to block websites, only allowing certain sites on a whitelist section.

Desktops are Windows 10 with 3 desktops right now.

Their is no server on-site so I need to a cloud solution to this.

Answer:Employees Monitoring Software + Website Blocking

As far as blocking specific websites you could look at something like OpenDNS (owned by Cisco); I believe it also has reporting options. I haven't used it myself but have read good things about them. I use the web filtering management from LogicNow that is included with my RMM software. Most web filters can also pull up reports to show blocked website attempts.

In regards to your client wanting a DVR style system for recording sessions. If they are wanting to have it record the desktop in video format than you got me. Not sure. If your client just wants to see what their employees type in than they could use a commercial keylogger of some sort. This wouldn't give them a video overview but may work. I don't have any recommendations as far as keyloggers go.

Hope that helps.

Mods please move to appropriate sub-forum...

Hi guys,

First of all, thanks for being here These forums helped me figure out a BSOD problem in the past. Here is my dilemma:

A friend of mine is a manager for an auto garage in town. His employees need a computer to log their hours and do training modules over the Internet. The problem is that the employees waste a lot of time on YouTube. I suggested he block the site using the "hosts file method". After doing so he says they can google something, then access YouTube via the search results. I don't know how this is possible, I propose to:

- Install Comodo firewall to block YouTube
- Make his employees use an account w/o admin priviledges so they cannot change this.
- Problem solved, right?

The only problem I see is that my friend claims that one of the programs they use requires admin rights... So if they put in the password when it's requested from their non-admin account to get those rights for that program, don't they now have the password to get into the admin account and change things?

So my questions are:
- Is there a way to elevate the privileges of only that program so the employees never need to know the password?
- Should Comodo be installed by the admin?
- Is this the best solution or do you have a better one?

I usually run Linux so I am a bit out of my element here. I expect to go in on Sunday to fix this up for him so that the changes "just happened" and no one can really complain Tha... Read more

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem that has just started happening did you visit the gsn.com website before this started happening, Ive just finished a clean install of windows 7 too.

My Bitdefender persistantly notifies me that it has blocked this particular execution, not only that but i found that a new rule had been created in bit defenders firewall to allow this program it resides in C:/windows/bclm.exe so i removed this rule straight away, although it still notifies me that it has been terminated. I have now blocked access to www.gsn.com .

Good Evening,

Earlier this evening I apparently picked up malware (Windows Security & Control) on my machine running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. At the same time, I noticed my browsers started directing towards a Bing link via a homepage change. I ran Malwarebytes and it identified/removed a number of nasties. I'm noticing now that my browsers (IE and Firefox) won't allow me to access the MS Update site (keeps saying page cannot be displayed or redirects me to another page), so I'm guessing there are some lingering problems. I didn't think to run RKill prior to running Malwarebytes, so I'm not sure if that resulted in removal issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for your time.

Thanks,
Mike

Answer:Malware Possibly Blocking MS Update Website?

Things have become much worse now. IE seems to have been rendered almost completely useless (most times it won't open and when it does it keeps redirecting to various unwanted sites). Firefox also rarely opens now although I have been able to successfully open it a few times. Just wanted to update with the new issues in hopes that someone can assist.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm not familiar with Macs, so I can't speak about programs available there, but your friend should try using free services like FamilyShield from OpenDNS. You can read a little bit more about it here too, in OpenDNS blog. Wikipedia has entry on OpenDNS if you need any further information.HTH

Hey hope this is the right thread. Pl tell me if it's not. See, I blog intensively on Indiblogger.in And it has a chat window visible at at all times at URL
IndiBlogger.in | Blogger Forum for Indian bloggers If it helps, there is a minimise button that reverses with every refresh/revisit so it does not help.

Could you please tell me how to block the chat window on this site? Any extension to any kind of browser? Any code I could copy paste to Google Chrome? Any other way?

The trouble is there are people constantly posting snide remarks on chat. I waste hours because of this chat window. I've visited 4 times since yesterday, and EVERY time my name was there on taunts in chat, Why? Because I posted a thread suggesting purely technical feautures for the forum.

This has been happening for MONTHS. Could you help me block the chat, please? Thanks in advance, and happy new year

Hi,

I am trying to access the site http://subscene.com/ (website providing subtitles for TV shows/films). For some strange reason I am unable to access the website and I believe its to do with my firewall or anti-virus settings.

I have used my iPhone and other laptops in the house and can access the website without any problems so I know it is not blocked by our ISP. Strangely enough last week for around 3 days I was able to access the website without any issues and then it reverted to not being accessable. I have tried IE7, Firefox and Google Chrome all with the same results. In order to access the website at the moment I need to use VPN which mask's me as being from the USA.

It is only this particular website with which I have a problem. Would appreciate any help.

Thanks
AJ

Hello everyone,I've been reading the net and this forum on this problem and I have found answers to similar troubles, unfortunately those didn't help my case so I have to post my problem. Please help me out if you can, I would love to avoid a full system format. The involved computer is not mine so I am not on it at this moment but I did save a log with 'hijack' as I noticed that is the protocol here. It's attached to this post in a txt file. The detailed description:Internet Explorer is being redirected when certain website URLs are called for. Mostly antivirus and malware solution websites are blocked and being redirected to weird websites. If it's not redirected, then just blocked from loading with a fake "no internet connection" page.I ran ESET NOD32 on October 3rd and I tried a scan today (Oct 4th) too, but it seems that definition updates are blocked for both my AV and my Windows Defender. I downloaded MBAM to my laptop and copied it over to the infected PC - since that one I cannot open any useful website with - and tried to install it but it says the file is corrupt. It's not. I did follow advices from this website and changed the name of the file but no luck.I tried to install it in safe mode too but same problem. I have been around computers in 23 years and I always was able to fix trouble. This thing has defeated me on my shame. Please help me out if you can I don't want to format and redo the whole system.Thank you!Atibm... Read more

Today on my Win 7 and Win 10 systems, Malwarebytes Premium flashed notifications that it had blocked outbound requests from (background) Dell programs, preventing access to "malicious" websites.
Specifically, it blocked:1) DellUpService.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Update\) from accessing daws.azurewebsites dot net2) DFSSvc.exe (C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell Foundation Services\) from accessing stannum-sub.azurewebsites dot net
As I was writing this, I see that it has already been reported in the Malwarebytes forums by several folks, and acknowleged as false positives which will be corrected:forums.malwarebytes.com/.../
This should only affect those using the paid version of Malwarebytes, and its real-time protection. I would note that after using MB3 Premium on all my systems for many months now, these are the only FPs I have seen.

New laptop unable to connect to webpage...

winXP Pro sp3
IE 8.0.6001
Norton Internet Security (yea I know, but it's free for now)

I've been using this new LT for about a week.... no problems...until last evening (including visiting/viewing the website in question. Because I am able to reach the website from two other computers that run over the same modem/router connection, it's obvious that my IP address is not being blocked by the websites admin for any reason. Additionally, after rebooting the LT and retrying unsuccessfull, I decided to try again by loging and then login back in as Admin.... VOILA success... but why??? [Note: I trust the site inquestion as I also know the site owner, he is an accomplished and trusworthy webmaster... have no suspicions about the site what-so-ever].

I am inclined to believe the problem is Firewall or AV related, but because I have made "Absolutely No Changes to Security Settings", "No Changes to Computer Config Settings" and "No Changes to Browser Settings", I am mistifyed as to the what, why or how as to the cause/origin of this problem...

The result is also NOT like a 404 error... instead I get the following...........
An Error Has Occurred! The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: user_name
Back

Anyone encouter such a problem before? Solutions???

All help appreciated.

Regards,
Gary

Answer:Solved: Firewall or AV blocking website??? Weird...

To check for a firewall or AV error block you need to reboot the system into Safe Mode with Networking. If you can access the site from there then you have a firewall/AV issue.

You can disable Windows built in fireware pretty easily and retry. 3rd party firewalls should be unistalled for proper checking.

To properly check to see if Norton is blocking the site you can first disable Norton and try to acccess the site. If you still can't access the site then unstill Norton (in Add/Remove + an unistall clean up) and reboot. Then try again.

If you still can't access the website you have a system level issue that should adressed by a computer tech. You could try some of the stack/network repair tools on the net but results will very.

It?s Official: Windows 10 Starts Blocking Flash by Default in Edge Browser

The world is slowly but surely stepping away from Flash given its security vulnerabilities, and Microsoft becomes one of the latest companies to do it.

The recently-released Windows 10 build 15002, available exclusively to the Fast ring, is the very first version of the company?s operating system that starts blocking Flash in Edge browser, with the very same behavior to be introduced in the Creators Update due in the spring.

Starting with this build, Microsoft Edge will load the HTML5 version of a website, if it?s available, in order to encourage the transition off Flash. If HTML5 can?t be loaded, the browser goes for the Flash version, but relies on a click-to-run system to give users control over the displayed content.

More Flash controls coming soon
Microsoft says that this is just the beginning of the transition from Flash, and explains that future Windows 10 builds will implement more controls to encourage the switch to HTML5.

?Microsoft Edge will now block untrusted Flash content by default until the user explicitly chooses to play it. This means better security, stability, and performance for you, while preserving the option to run Flash when you choose,? Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, said in a post announcing the new Windows Insider build.

?We will be evolving this experience in upcoming flights to make the option to run Flash content more contextually ... Read more

I've discovered my telus router t1200h is blocking windows update, causing an error code 80072ee2 when I check for updates. It is also blocking another forum I like to visit as well. There should be no reason it is blocking anything as I don't have parental controls set up. When I unplug the internet from the router and stick it straight into my PC everything works again. So, clearly it is my router.

Hi,
I am trying to block all domains from tumblr using the "hosts" file, but I have not been able to do it. I have tumblr.com blocked using that file, but it does not block other tumblr domains, like for example, redwings.tumblr.com or whatever.tumblr.com or helpme.tumblr.com.

Can I block those domains using this?

127.0.0.1 *tumblr.com

If that does not work or if hosts file cannot block all domains, could anyone suggest a way to block all of them? I did a quick search and skimmed the techguy forums, but I could not find any posts dealing with this. I could have missed it, so if this has already been answered, I'd be grateful if you could direct me there.

Thank you

I recently have run into a problem where my computer is showing the jpg below randomly. My anti-virus, malwarebytes and such are no longer receiving updates because I believe the virus has blocked them. Also, randomly when I open links to other webpages they are redirected to many different sites like wellaction and google-analytics.

I have included below, for your viewing pleasure, all the necessary files that you require. Also, I don't have a Windows Install or boot cd at my disposal.

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Hi, i currently have a friend using K9 web protection on her home computer for filtering her kids surfing.

But i was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions?

K9 is nice because its free, but the reports are rather vague, and overall the setup and options are limited.

She is looking for something that might be able to email her daily / weekly logs of sorts.
And a few other misc. options i dont remember off the top of my head.

Free is ideal, but right now im just looking for any suggestions...$$ or not.
I'm looked for about 30 min and theres so many choices out there i figure id throw the question here at TSG to get some first hand experience suggestions before i go bashing my head it.

Thanks for reading.
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hello

I am trying to download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from Bleepingcomputer. Avast! Antivirus blocks it, as 'suspicious', and says 'Infection' :  Win:64evo-gen

A separate pop-up box says C:Users[file path].exe 'part could not be saved, because the source file coule not be read'.

Is this a false positive on Avast! ? and if so how do I work around it?

Thank you.

Answer:Avast! blocking FRST download from this website - false positive?

Hi gdnr This is indeed a false positive from avast!. This vendor has been known to targets many downloads hosted on BleepingComputer as false positives. Every single tools and programs hosted in the Downloads section of BleepingComputer are completely safe to use. The fault here is on the vendor's side, not BleepingComputer. What you can do is temporarily disable avast! to download and execute FRST, then re-enable it once it's done. Or you can disable avast!, download FRST, add it avast! exclusion list and then re-enable it. This should allow you to use it without avast! interfering.http://www.getavast.net/support/managing-exceptions

I have a website, I am trying to get to work in edge. I made a website, and it is hosted on my internal server via apache running on Mandriva Linux 2010.1, on virtual box, on Windows 10 (which is the physical machine's OS).

I tested this website in Internet Explorer, by going to the main page, opening it in Internet Explorer, and then clicking the hyperlink to go there. It works from there. I tested in firefox and chrome, and it works there too. But it won't work from edge.

I found out the reason: edge is coded to make the page redirect from http to https, and I don't want it to run over https, and it is not set up to run over https. What trick either in my webserver or in edge's configuration can I use to get around this? Or if that's not possible could you tell me how to get the same content working over https, without having to deal with certificates or anything, and no warnings about certificate errors? https is not really needed for this website, because it's just a list of hyperlinks to other pages.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L675, running Windows 7 Home Premium. Using Avast Internet Security, Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. I am not sure if I have one problem or several possibly unrelated issues.
Lately I have been receiving a lot of “Internet Explorer stopped working” messages and now every few seconds am receiving a MBAM “Malicious Website Blocked” message identifying various domains, IPs and ports but all indicating outbound type and usually, but not always identifying the process as C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe.  I am also receiving frequent Avast Web Shield notices of blocking harmful web pages (even when disconnected from any wifi). I noticed at least one referenced a Powerliks Trojan.  I am receiving irregular notices that “Powershell has stopped working”.
Running MBAM identified two threat which were removed, but with no impact on the messages I have been receiving. Since then the MBAM Scan logs come up empty.
Due to the similarity of symptoms, I followed the guidance offered at “Constant Outgoing traffice from random IP addresses being sent” (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/537233/constant-outgoing-traffice-from-random-ip-addresses-being-sent/) and the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from Powerliks malware removal help needed (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/554461/powerliks-malware-removal-help-needed/) but to no avail.
I need help before proceeding further.

Hello!

I appear to have a couple of nasty bugs. The most obvious symptom is a pop-up ad that appears every five to ten minutes with the following text (misspellings preserved from original):

Quote:

Warning! Potential Spyware Operation!

Your computer is making unauthorized copies of your system and Internet files. Run full scan now to pervent any unathorised access to your files! Click YES to download spyware remove ...

There are myriad other symptoms, some of which are temporarily alleviated by running Ad-Aware or Spybot:

Nothing fixes
* pop-up message above
* unable to get Norton Anti-Virus to run
* links from Google search results redirect to a random search page or File Not Found error (this can be avoided by right-clicking and selecting Open Link in New Window)

Alleviated by Spybot/Ad-Aware until restart
* home page in IE changed from about:blank to www.google.com
* access to symantec.com blocked
* cannot access Control Panel->Properties
* cannot access Properties by right-clicking on Desktop
* cannot access Windows Security Center
* cannot run regedit

I have run a Panda scan and can provide those results if necessary (it found 28 Spyware programs, 1 dialer and a couple of other things). Below are my results from running HijackThis. I have also attached the "extra.txt" file.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi!
I am facing a weird issue with the YouTube website on the Edge browser. When I bought the laptop a month ago, it was working fine until two days back. My McAfee AV trial, which was bundled with the laptop, ran out and I uninstalled it. Since then only the YouTube website is looking all scrambled up. Please take a look at the attached screenshot;
What could be the issue? Any solutions for this? Ironically, the YouTube site is working fine in Internet Explorer. Please help!

Hello All,
Since yesterday I have been issues with Edge, where this happens every 5 minutes where it hangs then auto refreshes than shows the error below (on the left) either that or the page fails to load completely after appearing to load.
On the left Edge, on the right Firefox (which is still a memory hog ).
Any one else having the same issues?
The only thing that changed was I had to reinstall HP's AMD W8 drivers under compatibility mode; furthermore installing the latest WU updates did not resolve this issue.

Answer:Edge - website loading issues

Exactly !! I also have same issues for Edge and really irritated due to these issues.
