Preferred Solution: Windows Store cant install new apps, error code 0x80070002, with X letter on apps

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am unable to update my Windows Store apps on Windows 8.1 x64. I get Error code 0x80070002.
I have used the apps Troubleshooter and I get this
Some security settings are missing or have been changed Not fixed
Windows Store Cache may be damaged Not fixed
Windows Store configuration may be damaged Detected
Service registration is missing or corrupt Fixed

Answer:Unable to update Store apps: Error code 0x80070002

Recently, the Troubleshooter was updated to fix Windows 8.1 Update 10x80070002, 0x80070003. Download this one from Microsoft and see if it helps. Clear & Reset Windows Store Cache.
Run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth to repair your Windows Image. Once the scan is completed, restart and try again. This will repair the Windows Image.
Hope one of this helps you.

Message recieved : we r having trouble connecting you to the store right now.Try later in a minute or two

Answer:[L535] Error code when trying to install apps from store?

This is usually encountered when the internet connection is unstable or when the servers (either the main or the interim) are busy.
Make sure that your internet connection is stable first before trying again. Preferably, connect using Wi-Fi.
In some instances, restarting the phone resolves the issue (either as a real fix or as a coincidence since the process of restarting the phone takes "a minute or two").

I'm receiving the following error when trying to install apps from the Windows Store on Windows 10. It doesn't occur with every program, which makes it extremely frustrating to debug. The Event Viewer is no help, as it provides the same cryptic messages:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070490: Gears of War 4.Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073CF9: Gears of War 4.Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073CF9: Carcassonne.Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070490: Candy Crush Saga.Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073CF9: Candy Crush Saga.

I've Googled this error and searched TenForums but found nothing to help. SFC /SCANNOW reports no errors, re-registering the Windows Store app does nothing, disabling BitDefender does nothing. Is any real help available, or do I have to file a scam report with PayPal since Microsoft is incapable of managing a simple software download?

Hello, i'm having an issue with downloading apps from win 10 store.

^
That is bassicaly what i get every single time.
Now i have posted a topic on Microsoft Community forums, but it's dragging along and my feeling is that that reply that i got is the only one that i will get.
They did provide me with steps to follow, first two didn't find/fix any issues, third one i couldn't execute due to an error which i don't understand and therefore cannot fix on my own. Any help would be appreciated.

Microsoft Community Forum topic: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...3-6f6ac60483a1

It is really frustrating as i want to explore different apps/games but i'm being stopped dead in my tracks.

Answer:Windows 10 Store Apps/Games Download Failing (Error Code 0x80080207)

Hi there! I have been experiencing the same issue, but to avoid wasting time, I simply gave up for simpler games from the App Store. My best find till date is this arcade platformer: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/elec...963759829?mt=8 and you won?t find it anywhere else, not even on play.google.com! However, do note that the Windows 10 Store: http://www.microsoft.com/en-u.s/store/game does come with some pretty cool games! It?s sad that it just isn?t working as planned right now. I would have loved to try Gameloft.com?s Modern Combat 5: Blackout on Windows 10. It will hopefully happen soon!

I cannot install anything from Windows Store. It will down load normally & then fail with error 80073DOA. Updates to Apps also fail to install with the same error. I have run wreset ( several times) but still no joy. Date & Time Zone are correct.

Windows Firewall must be enabled to allow the Store to Update & Install!
Found this by accident. I was running the Firewall that came with Norton Security. Why this is a requirement I don't know. Disabling the Norton Firewall was easy but there was no option to turn the windows Firewall back on as Norton had taken over so
I went into Services & did it from there. All working fine now ))

Just some more information, its ONLY the E: Drive that wont accept installs from windows store,(of anything, i tried a bunch of different free apps).

All my other harddrives (5) accept installs fine. So id say its definitely some kind of permission issue. trouble is, i dont know how to fix it.

Are you using the Network to set your time and date? Sometimes store errors are linked to having the wrong date and time.

Hello, everyone.

I have a problem with my Windows 8 laptop (upgraded).

When I install apps from the store, I always get a "Something went wrong error code 0x8020002e".

I can install VERY SMALL apps (whose size are in KB and less than 5 MB) but most apps I want in the Store are way larger.

I tried every connection possible (mobile broadband, WiFi and Ethernet) but it still ends up the same.

I ran the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) and it found corrupt files. It restored them but the problem still exists.

Then, I tried running the Apps, Microsoft Account and Windows Update troubleshooters. It saw problem and said it corrected them but it still didn't solve the problems. And when I ran the troubleshooters again, it will say it fixed the problems... again (see the screenshots). It also says that I must have a Microsoft account but I already have.

I hope you can help me and thanks in advance!

Gio

I am on windows 10 build number 10130(Installed it through an ISO file). I am unable to install any app from either store or store beta. The exact error message is "Something happened and this app couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code: 0x8007000b". I tried reinstalling the OS, Formatting the sd card and replacing the sd card but the problem persists. The default location for app install is set to sd card and when I change it back to my pc the apps do install. What is error code 0x8007000b. And how do I get the apps to install on my sd card. Note: I don't want to install the apps to my device memory as I have only 10GB left.

Anyone else getting these? No problems accessing the store, no problems updating apps. The issue is downloading NEW apps. It downloads, then begins to install and right when the app is at 99% complete installing it fails with this code:"Well, this is embarrassing (see details)."
Clicking on details shows this message: "We can't find the app. error code 0x80070002"
Clicking retry results in the same thing. Rebooting doesn't help. Resetting the Windows Store doesn't help. So far the only workaround has been switching to a local account to install an app then switching back.
Anyone encounter this? And if so, have you found a complete fix?

Hi
i do prefer a local account
but when i try to install new apps from app store
w8.1 asks me to switch to a microsoft account

can i install apps with a local account?
and how can i understand if i have a local account or microsoft account

thanks

Answer:can i install apps from apps store with a local account?

See the screenshot below for selection you have to make for not to convert your local account to a Microsoft Account:

Windows Store - Sign in with Different Microsoft Account in Windows 8

Screenshot from tutorial Skype App - Use with Local Account in Windows 8.

You of course need an email address (Microsoft Account) but it will only be used for the app in question (Windows Store is also just an app), so in the next dialog either give an existing Microsoft Account credentials or select Sign up for a Microsoft account to create a new one to be used with Store app:

Your Windows sign in account will remain local, it will not be converted to a Microsoft Account.

Hi, I have already been working on this issue for a few days. HP Desktop running Windows 8.1 Pro, x64.

A few days ago, Netflix App stopped working. I uninstalled, then tried to reinstall from Store. Store error code 0X80070002.

Ran Windows App Troubleshooter (downloaded from Microsoft Support pages). Found 3 errors, but couldn't fix:
- Some security settings are missing or have been changed Not Fixed
- Windows Store cache may be damaged Not fixed
- Windows Store configuration may be damaged Detected
My first concern was the security settings, so I carefully checked my Update History to be sure all my security updates have been successful. I also checked to make sure all my programs/drivers were up to date using Secunia and Advanced System Care. Then I ran several scans to check for malware (MBAM, Windows Defender scan, Advanced System Care Pro). All scans were normal except one which called the HP bloatware Recipebox.exe a Trojan, so I quarantined it (I have never once used it, it came preloaded on the machine). Can a Trojan rename itself as something I've never used? Or more likely a false positive?

After everything looked clean, tried Store to install Netflix, same error, same 3 items appeared when I re-ran App Troubleshooter.

Ran Iobit Winfix tool which found no windows issues. DSKCHK found no errors. Repaired Internet Explorer (last time a Microsoft branded app was making me crazy, it was an IE issue I hadn't noticed because I use Firefox for browsi... Read more

I was given a Windows 8.1 tablet that once had a detachable keyboard which the guy lost. he reset the whole computer and after I got my information on it instead. After the reset, Windows was no longer activated and I had to reactivate it. which neither of us knows why, it was activated before we did a data factory reset. after I created my user, I installed a bunch of exes. now I go to try to see if I could test out the Windows Store to search for apps. but I search "Windows Store" or "app store" and several other things that may bring it up, but it always says, "no apps match your search" like if the Windows store is missing or somehow magically removed with the reset process. How do I get it back?

Hello,

I am trying to install this app from windows store, and I keep getting this error: 0x80072f78.
I tried following every guide offered in the first 20 results in google with no luck. I deleted registry keys, reseted the store cache, disabled the antivirus- you name it.
windows is up to date, and no errors were found in the troubleshoot diagnostic tools (WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab & Appsdiagnostic10.diagcab).

I thought it might be something with the proxy settings or security (that are applied via GPO), but my colleagues do not experience these problems.

So I tried to use a different computer- to check if maybe it is my computer, but the problem persisted.
At this point I thought it was my account, so I created a new account- But still no luck.

what the heck??

Hi,
I have to take care for multiple computers for our youth work. It are windows 10 computers with multiple local users (administrators). Computers are clean installed at the beginning of this year.
Windows 10 makes me very unhappy, cause very often Store apps stop functioning. I?ve had troubles with the photos app, the calculator app and the store itself. A user starts the pc and calculator/photo or store app does not work any longer. The app is found in the search result, but it?s icon is white. And under it the text ?desktop app?. No joke: the store pretends to be a desktop app.
I read some other posts on your forum about not working apps or not working store. But ?my? apps and store think they are desktop programs.
When there are problems not all the users on the pc have the problem. Mostly it?s okay for one user, and for all the other users it is corrupt.
I found a work around: make a new user. And for the new user all apps work.
But I get a fulltime job creating new users and giving the user?s documents and settings back.
Does anybody know a way to PREVENT the loss of functionality of the modern apps?
Does anybody know a way to REPAIR the broken modern apps? I found some Powershell magic on the internet, but that did not help.
I?d be very grateful for any help.
Koen

Hello Melyn, and welcome to Ten Forums.

You would want to delete the SID for the user name that you are having the issue with. In this case it would be the SID ending in -1001.

Hi,

I'm new to Windows 8.1 and just discovered the Windows Store. What are the advantages or disadvantages of using the Windows Store? it doesn't contain many of the apps I've needed so far, and for like VLC there is a store offering but you can download VLC from the VideoLAN website - when should I install apps from the Store vs download them from the suppliers website?

Thanks

Noob

Answer:When should I install apps from the Windows Store?

You download apps from the Windows Store when you want touch optimized "modern" apps. If you aren't using a touch enabled computer then you are probably better off installing/running the regular Windows desktop program (if available) since the "modern" apps found in the Store are generally not as full featured.

I just bought W8 and am not allowed to download any apps from the store, it says I need to delete a PC, but I already deleted them all. In fact there is no PC listed, but it says I need to wait 3 days to add a new PC.

This is kind of ridiculous. I think the problem is because I reformatted a few times with a virtual machine that was tied to my windows email. Is there a way around this?

edit: In case anyone suggests, I tried refreshing, and also resetting.

Answer:Can't install Windows Store apps from day one

Well, shrt term workaround, disable the Microsoft integration and associate a different account. In 3 days, put it back

I've tried installing multiple apps and The Weather Channel app will go through the motions of installing, but won't actually install (I get the install button again after it says it installed).

For the rest of the apps that I tried installing, I get error 0x8E5E0408.

Any help fixing this problem is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Windows Store will not install apps

Store has many dependencies, have you disabled any services or anything in Privacy settings?
By the way Windows Store service is set to Manual by default and does not run, try to start it.

Right click Start - Run and enter - net start WSService - Enter.

Hi. Please help me. My windows store can't install app. I already tried the PART ONE ( How to Clear and Reset the Store Cache in Windows 10). As i go on to the PART TWO, i find it hard on what affected user SID should i delete. (See screenshot below).

Please help me. Thank you.

Answer:Windows store can't install apps

Hello Melyn, and welcome to Ten Forums.

You would want to delete the SID for the user name that you are having the issue with. In this case it would be the SID ending in -1001.

How do I fix this?

I found this in Yahoo Answers and it worked for me:
Go to troubleshooting (press win+w >then type troubleshooting). now a window opens in desktop. click "fix problems with windows updates". now click next. windows will search for solutions, but it wont find anything. then windows will ask if u want to
try in administrator mode. click yes. windows will find and solve the problem. that's it.

After relocating c:\users\<username> to D:\Users\<username> APPS no longer work, Store-App, Internet Explorer app all fail.

This WAS attached to another thread but it got separated & moved here... Poorly re-titled to boot.

I started with Win-7/64 Pro, running on a SATA-II 640gb HDD (SATA-Port-3), second drive a SATA-II 340gb (SATA-Port-4).
I made several backups & copies (can never be too careful)
Used a Full Version of Win-8/64 Pro and launched it from Win-7 to perform an upgrade.
Painfully slow but worked a treat and all my data, apps everything transferred just peachy. (Thank goodness as a Dev, I have GIT, Various compilers and tools which is a phenomenal PITA to have to reinstall, close to 2 days to redo all of it)
I set it to login to my LiveID and everything seemed to operate just fine.
(Skype Excluded! it cycles the plugin sensing of the headset, even though it is disabled in Win & Realtek setup)

Next was to move my data over to the SSD Hybrid drive.
I installed the Seagate Momentus XT-750 Hybrid Drive to SATA-Port-2 which is to be used as my D:
I then copied everything from the previous C: and D: drives (the SATA-II's) as needed... Items like my GIT Repositories, downloads, build directories and all the other stuff not attached into Windows.
After everything was successfully copied & verified, I shutdown and disconnected the old 340GB Sata-II
The new Seagate Hybrid came up as D: drive as expected, everything there and just perfect... Read more

Within the last week, the Windows Store has been giving me issues with installing new apps, or updating existing apps. I've rolled back my system to before this issue began, but the issue is still presenting itself.

Whenever I try to install or update an app, I'm met with the following notice: "Something happened and this app couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code 0x80072efd."

I'm not having any luck finding solutions through Google searches. I ran the Windows Update Diagnostic and it seemed to find, and subsequently repair some issue but whatever it fixed did nothing for my Windows Store error.

Please help!

Hi there,

I have recently purchased Pro version of Microsoft Windows 8. Now everything is just working fine as it should, though I faced some problems in adding my accounts in Mail app, but I sorted it out. Now, the problem is that I am not able to download/install any app from Windows Store (found in Start). I wanted to download Skype and some other software, when I found it that they just show the progress bar having nothing being filled in, and then after some time, they show a small cross alongwith it and say that this app can't run or something like that. Sometimes, in the Start screen, the tile of the software being downloaded shows "Pending" and after some time, it shows "Installing" but the progress bar never advances. Then after some time, it shows the following message;

"Something happened and this app wasn't installed. Please try again. Error code: 0x8024001e".

What is wrong with it? I hope you guys reply me on your earliest and help me solve this issue. Thank you for your time.

Answer:Why do I have to turn on windows firewall to install apps from store?

The firewall service is required for all "modern" apps to run, including the store. The firewall service actually houses more than just the firewall itself, and you pretty much need to leave it enabled for Windows 8 to function properly. If you aren't using it or don't want to, the proper way to disable firewall functionality is to go into the Windows firewall control panel applet and set the three profiles (domain, public, private) to "off".

I tried to download word, excel and powerpoint from the windows store. They got stuck at 6.6MB and then I waited for some time hoping they would continue in the background, but after a long time they weren't installing or anything, and I selected them and uninstalled them from the app list in start menu and just before deleting they showed "installing" message and vanished. Now I started my next today and when I tried to download them again, they showed as if they are installing and without any data download they quickly showed "restoring data" and then "installing" and then that stopped. I went to check the app list but they weren't there. I went to the store again and there it showed they weren't installed. I tried the same process again and after the "installing" message the "install" button would be back on the app in the store. I tried wsreset but didn't help.

Hi all. I'm having a problem installing Groove & Photos, apps download, go to restoring user data, continue to install right up to the end where they fail with the above error. I can run Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} from Powshell w/ admin but this doesn't reinstall the apps & therefore Groove & photos remain unable to install.
Nothing has changed on the computer other than Windows updates.
I've run SF & DISM & all OK - no problem detected so I'm at a loss of what to do next, I've also run WSReset.exe & various troubleshooting like BITS (Ctrl panel>Troubleshooting) service & all OK there too - I also ran the Win Update troubleshooter even though I don't have problems updating windows & it did run a fix but the app problems remain.*
Is there any other thing I can try?

Just like it happened in Windows 8, Windows 10 requires users to log in with a Microsoft account in order to install apps from the Store, but this is no longer valid for those whose computers are powered by the Pro SKU of the operating system.

German website WIndowsArea has discovered that Microsoft suddenly made a policy change that makes it possible for Windows 10 Pro users to install apps from the Windows Store without the need for a Microsoft Account.

There are some limitations though. First of all, only freeware applications can be installed, so if you want to purchase an app, an account is still required.

Then, if you?re trying to update a paid application that?s already installed on your Windows 10 device, an account is once again needed.

Why the change?
Microsoft hasn?t explained why exactly it made this change, but given the fact that it concerns the Pro version of the operating system, it?s not difficult to see that the company specifically targeted companies that are trying to get more control over what users install on their systems.

On the other hand, it?s not yet clear if the Enterprise SKU of Windows 10 can also install apps without a Microsoft account because reports in this regard are still mixed, with some claiming that it works, while others indicating that it doesn?t.

Without a doubt, installing apps from the Windows Store without an account can boost adoption of Store apps, but we?ve reached out to Microsoft to find out if this is inde... Read more

The apps will download (xbox one smartglass and battlefield four battlelog) but they will not install and let me use them... any idea on how to fix this problem?

Answer:my computer will download apps from the windows store but not install them tips on how to fix this?

I'm having a hard time imagining this.. Any error codes? Open the store > type in the app name or game you downloaded previously > select appropriate option > this will take you to the app/game's individual page > if the app is installed, you should see a button marked "open" where the "install" button previously stood
Edit: a different approach.. start menu > all apps list > tap on one of the Capitalized letters > Select "X" > should jump to all apps installed that start with "X" so in this case we're looking for the xbox one app > click to open

So as usual my ex husband promised my daughter something he didn't deliver. He had said for over 6 months he was going to get her a phone. Finally did. (said he had to wait to add her, turns out it's Prepaid, lol) Then says he is going to get her into a new phone he bought which was an actual smart phone (8X) as apposed to her basic one. Months later it finally arrives. I activate it (wasnt new, it was his gmas old one on another carrier) and no matter what I do it gives me an error message once it tries to have me sign in, in order to download off the app store.
1. He didnt think to call and inform AT&T about her switching phones. Obviously kind of important. So that has been done.
2. He never verified her email since she is underage. Thats done as well.
3. All the APN setting were wipped so i called to get those. She does finally get MMS.
4. Took into the store and also talked with tech support for ATT about 10xs.
5. Ive tried multiple other emails that have been used for years and still will not allow it.
Im at a loss and this poor girl has been waiting months for this to get straightened out. Of course dad wont help or bother so I really dont know what else to do.
This is the error message: " Can't connect, We're having a problem signing in. Make sure you have good reception. If you do, the problem may be on the other end. Wait a little while and try again."

Answer:Windows 8X. Cant get apps from store. Error message. No one seems to be able to help

Let's rule out reception as an issue. Are you on Wi-Fi? I'd try on Wi-Fi to make sure it's not the carrier that's causing the problem. What carrier are you using? Second, you have to use a legit Microsoft account to access the store. Outlook.com, hotmail.com, etc.

I have several apps that refuse to update with the error 0x80070005. Some of the apps include Groove Music, Microsoft Photos and Films and TV. Here is what I have tried so far.

1- Checked the time, date, time zone and region is correct. User account control is enabled.

2- Run the WSReset.exe as administrator

3- Gain full control over packages folder using the advice here:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...6b0107a?auth=1

4- Control Panel/Troubleshooting/View All/Windows Store Apps/run troubleshooter. The troubleshooter did a few things and also ran WS reset and reported the Windows Store cache may be damaged.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall one app but it refused to reinstall so I had to use system restore to get it back. I am the only user logged on as the administrator.

Is there anything else I can try? Your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Your PC will need to restart.

Hello to everyone.

Since Windows 10 1607 update I am driven crazy with this error (0x800070005) which appears when I try to download new app.

Old Windows Store apps are working normally, but I can't download any new one. I tried several solutions I found on internet, without success:
1) powershell and command prompt commands for manual resseting store
2) WSReset.exe
3) that WIndows Repair software that is often mentioned
4) Changing permisions on packages folder, WindowsApps folder etc...

Not a single solution worked. I tried system restore, but once system updates to 1607, it starts again. It is clean Windows 10 install...

Only thing that worked: I made other account, local one. On that account, I logged in Windows Store with my normal account I otherwise use. On that local account, signed only to Windows Store, I can download apps normally. When I return to my standard account, I can install only apps that I downloaded to my local account before - but not other one...

Except reinstalling whole damn thing, migrating account to new one would maybe help... But it is a little too much to do now, so is there any other solution that I maybe missed? I really can not believe that I have to reinvent wheel (to create new my account) just to use damn Windows Store normally?

Thanks in advance!

Having a little trouble here with downloading apps from the store.

I'm getting an error: "Something happened and your purchase can't be completed. Error code: 0x80244022". This is for a free app.

I've Googled and very little comes up. I've performed the Windows Store Reset as well as the Windows Update Repair (despite Windows update working properly) to no avail.

One site suggested converting the user account to a local account from a Microsoft Account, but that didn't work either.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer:Windows Store Error - 0x80244022 - Unable to purchase apps

I am having the EXACT problem you describe. It seems to have started within the last few days. The weird thing is that it started not only on my laptop but also on my desktop computer at approximately the same time. Both are running Windows 8.1. That would suggest it is Windows Update-related or perhaps account-related.

Please do reply if you find a fix and I will do the same.

Pete

OK, i'd like to make it clear that i'm using the so-called "real" Administrator account that is hidden but can be activated, not a regular account with admin privelidges. At first i was trying to figure out if Metro apps can be used by this account, and it appeared that they cant, but managed to find a trick to enable it. i did it by making sure UAC is on, making sure that FilterAdministratorToken is set to a value of 1 in the Registry, and by enabling "User Account Control: Admin approval mode for the built-in Administrator account" (secpol.msc [Local Security Policy]> Local Policies> Security Options).

So i did a bit more research and toying around, only to discover that although i might have found a workaround for running most Metro apps in general, i discovered that syncing, d/l'ing of apps from the Windows Store, etc is not possible unless you're using a Microsoft account. Please note that any other account with admin privelidges can use the apps without a hitch, as well as any Standard account. So it clearly is not a limitation of just having an admin account, alone.

Also, the built-in Admin is the only kind of account that cant be converted from a local account to a MS Account, all other accounts with admin privelidges can do so. If you look in the Control Panel and try to make changes to the account, you will find that the option isnt available, whereas with other accounts it is. This brings about the issue of not being able to sync or d/l... Read more

Answer:Use Metro Apps As Admin AND Be Able To Sync, d/l Store apps, etc???

Hello Stephen, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Setting that security policy below to be enabled will basically just turn the built-in elevated "Administrator" account into an unelevated administator account that requires UAC approval to open or run anything that requires elevated rights to do so.

This would be why you are able to open the Store afterwards, but you would still need to sign into the Store with any Microsoft account to be able to install any "Metro" Store apps.
Windows Store - Sign in with Different Microsoft Account in Windows 8

You still will not be able to switch the built-in "Administrator" to be a Microsoft account. It can only remain as a local account.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I want to organize the All Apps list on the Start Menu, but I need to get rid of the apps that clutter it up. I would prefer to do it without replacing the start menu with something like Classic Shell and I don't want to delete all the apps, so I've been attempting to find a way to remove the contents of shell:Appsfolder from the start menu.

I was hoping I could receive some insight into how exactly the Start Menu works. I know that the All Apps list appears to be a combination of three different directories:

shell:Appsfolder
%AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Which leads me to believe that it might operate similarly to other system folders like This PC and Libraries, but I haven't found anything that seemed useful in the registry so far. I would appreciate it if someone could help point me in the right direction.

Does anyone know how to clear out deleted Windows Store apps from the computer? When you go into the Windows Store and right click and choose 'your apps' the selection 'apps not istalled on this pc' still shows apps that I have deleted. I only installed on one device (unless they auto-install to the xbox360 also?). I cannot see how to clear out previously deleted apps. See attached pic to see what I am talking about.

Thanks!

Answer:Clear Deleted Store Apps (ie apps not istalled on this pc)

My Top Ten reasons Store Apps are preferred over Desktop Apps
I know what you're thinking. How can a store app be better than a desktop app? Well, the title doesn't say "better", it says "preferred". Read the list, and I'm sure you'll get an idea of the difference I'm talking about.
10. A store app has the capability to do everything a desktop app can do, IF the app developer works at it.
9. Universal Windows Apps are safer. They are obtained by using the Store, and you don't have to worry about viruses from the store apps.
8. Store apps do not slow down your system over time the way Desktop Apps can. They don't use the registry, and don't leave behind traces of files that never get cleaned up like many bad behaved desktop apps do. Reinstalling the OS every year can be a thing of the past.
7. Uninstalling a store app leaves NO traces behind and no clutter in your registry. It uninstalls everything contained it the sandbox for that app. Cleaner uninstall. With Desktop apps, you have to use a 3rd party program to track down and eliminate the traces, and sometimes accidentally kill files that other programs were dependent upon.
6. New Universal Apps for Windows 10 can scale to different screen sizes, resolutions, and DPI better. Desktop apps often become unreadable or unmanageable when attempting to scale to different DPI settings, and often the text on buttons will be cut-off or displayed incorrectly.
5. You can use the input of your choice using Universal Windows Apps. Apps b... Read more

Some great points.
How about Buy it once and deploy it across devices?
I purchased NOAA Hi-Def Radar for my phone. LOVE the Live Tile. LOVE it. So handy to just glance at the tile without entering the app and you have a radar picture. My house is even "pinned" as a red dot.
Bought it for the phone. Now it's on my Desktop and my RT tablet for free. Super value.

Answer:Why won't my Windows phone install apps from the Windows store?

A soft reset generally fixes store woes.
In order to do a soft reset, simple hold down the power button for 15 seconds or until the phone vibrates.
Let me know if that doesn't work!

I'm running on w10 TP build 10149 on my L920. When I searched for the apps like modern combat 5, overkill they were not shown on both the store apps. When I tried to install them through browser both the store apps shows apps are unavailable to download. Any workarounds there?

Answer:Apps unavailable on w10 mobile store apps

Are these apps region locked? If so, changing the phone region to US might help. You can always go back to whatever it was, once the apps are installed.

Hi, have you tried any troubleshooting?
First thing I would try would be a soft reset. (Hold volume down and power until phone goes off/vibrates)

Hi All, I created an MS account so I could install apps from the Store. Creating the MS account went smooth. I accessed the Store and attempted to install the Facebook app, and the progress bar went two thirds across the window and stopped moving. It still sits there. when I attempted to install a dictionary it says pending. It still says pending. When I first did the upgrade to WIN10 a few weeks ago there was a Weather app on the tiles that worked. One day it crapped out, and now that I have the MS Account it wont access again. I have a feeling there's a setting somewhere that needs to be turned on or something, but scouring the Settings I don't see anything. The only thing I do see is on System settings>Storage>Save Locations>New apps will save to> This PC (C) is greyed out and I don't see a way you activate the setting, if indeed that's something to do with my problem. Can anyone help me with my problem? Thanks.
