Windows 7 Pre-Order Best UK Price

Question: Windows 7 Pre-Order Best UK Price

As Windows 7 hits the shelfs for pre-order this week I was wondering if anybody knows how long the offer stands? I am going with amazon as they are offering the best deal that I have found with 70% off the UK price ?44.97 + free delivery. If anyone knows of a better price or my above answer I would be very grateful. JR

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Windows 7 Pre-Order Best UK Price

It seems Amazon's ?44.97 is the best price. Neowin
The offer would be valid until stock lasts (quantity not known), or until a certain date. What I'm reading is that France will be getting 76000 copies of Win 7 E. No word about UK althogh.

Hello allHow would I go about enabling automatic price calculation on an order form ? For example, if a customer were to select 3 of a certain item, and 2 of another item, and just 1 of a third item, how can I get it to sub-total each individual item and then give a grand total at the bottom ?I guess that it would be javascript of some kind or maybe there is a template I could use. I don`t need to have the form sent to me after it is totalled as it will be printed out and sent to me by the customer. It is just for the customers information. T.I.A. Andy

Answer:Order form price calculator

click hereclick hereI did these as examlpes some months ago for another forum member, who has since modified one of them to suit their requirements.Either view the page source and save it or save the web page using the File, Save As option.Don't as me why I called them quote1.html and quoteB.html. I must have had my 1s and Bs crossed that day ;o)Anyway, although the second example has a submit button on it you would need to input your own form processing code. You could just as easily put a Print JavaScript code snippet in there and change the caption on the Submit button to Print. They should give you some ideas though and adding extra items into the forms is fairly easy if you spend the time to read the underlying code. It's pretty straight forward.Hope it helps.T

Is it normal practice for Dell to cancel an order without reason than let one reorder for a higher price?
I ordered an expensive laptop Precision 5510 with a Xeon cpu, 32 GB of RAM, 512 GB SSD and the highest resolution touch screen. Price 3179 Euro no delivery cost.
Then the order get canceled and no reason is given. I call customer support and they say there is an undefined configuration problem, which I didn't get while ordering.Customer rep. says sorry, but you must reorder online and this will not delay the order much. Alright I think this can happen and I'll just reorder online.
PROBLEM: The same configuration now costs 3266 euro and there is a delivery fee of 42 euro.
I see that the discount is now 30% instead of 40% and the delivery fee is no longer free. So I call customer support and they tell me that there is nothing they can do too bad. One can only order via the internet and the price is the price.
This is my third Dell laptop and I also bought a Dell server which may also need replacing. However if this is the way Dell treats it's customers I will not be buying Dell in the future. And I will strongly advice others to not buy Dell hardware.

The Windows Photo Viewer will not display photos in the order they are sorted by Windows Explorer.
This is not referring to the slide show feature, just the forward and back arrows.
The only order pictures can be viewed is by name despite Windows Explorer being set at view by date, ascending.
I have repaired Microsoft Live Essentials, uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue remains.
This is also not an issue with photo tags or photo names.
Windows Explorer sorts as selected but click a picture in the middle to view, click the forward arrow and instead of the next date picture being viewed, the next name picture is viewed.

Answer:Windows Photo Viewer; sorting order not the same as view order

Hi!

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently as well, I have the same problem and I also have a solution. However, I do not know, if it is ideal. :-)

What is obviously missing is an entry in the registry called DropTarget. This entry tells Windows Photo Viewer to display the images in the sorting order of the folder Photo Viewer got called from.

Non-solution:
I saw that at least in my registry there is a DropTarget defined in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\DropTarget. From the name of the key and from reading the docs this looks as if it would be applied to all calls to this program, but -if that actually is the case- for me this entry does not work. It has been there (at least) after my Windows 10 upgrade, also the "Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}" seems to be fine, but it does not do the job.

Solution:
For me, this problem was present for jpg and png files, but not for bmp, dib, gif, jfif and what else can be opened with Windows Photo Viewer. To fix this, I have added the following to the Windows Registry:

Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open\DropTarget]
"Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}"

Today, the price of gold sits around $1660/fine ounce, maybe Huawei should put their E173 and E220 drivers on wall st. The price per unit would surely surpass that of gold before the close of trade.
On the Vodacom website there are two downloads for the E220, a pc software for vodafone and a VMC update for the dashboard. I downloaded and installed the software for Vodafone onto the laptop, and thereafter dowloaded and updated the E220 with the VMCLite_E220_3_2_1_156_standard program.

Now, since the modem's dashboard could be updated, it would be safe to say that the modem was detected, right?
Well, this is what happens when I open the Vodafone program:

Hi,I've an approved RMA for full refund for an X230 that I'd purchased from Depot. The restocking fee was waived as I'd ordered another X230 (better EPP deal).I shipped back the unopened X230 and Lenovo acknowledged the receipt of the laptop on Feb 5. And since then there has been no update on my refund. I was told it would take 6 business days for the refund to be posted back to my account. Now it's over 2 weeks and when I contacted post sales support - this is the reply I got from them: *************Hi,We regret to inform you that i am unable to get any information on this order, I am still working on your order. Once we get the information on the refund i will keep you updated on the same For further assistance please feel free to email me back and i will be glad to assist you Regards *************So what are my options now. An answer like "i am unable to get any information on this order" from customer care themselves doesn't really inspire confidence with Lenovo. The second X230 that I'd ordered, has issues with the IPS display having a yellow tint and the touchpad being super jumpy. Had sent it to their repair center who unfortunately were not able to see the problems at first but later accepted the problem with the touchpad alone and they're getting the laptop re-imaged. Display is as designed according to them. They're sending it back now. Will wait and see. If I still see the display problem, will get it returned. Thank you Lenovo, for that amazing buyi... Why does it say that I will receive the laptop 2 weeks from now when it says that I should expect it within 1-3 days?

Answer:Dell site says XPS 15 gets delivered in 1-3 days, the order date for my order is 2 weeks from now...

Generally when that happens there has been a burst of orders, or there is a part on back order and the sales site hasn't been updated yet.  The delivery times are just estimates and could be sooner or later depending on various conditions.

Question: Windows 8 price.

Wasnt sure where to post this so i just put it here. When i go to windows website it says i can buy windows 8 for 120 usd but when i download windows upgrade assistant it wants to charge 120 euro which is nearly 160 usd, does anybody know what this is about?

Answer:Windows 8 price.

Hi JayJayC and welcome to Eightforums,

From your post I understand that you live in Europe. Well, as with almost every product that is being sold in Europe as well as in the USA the prices in Europe are far far far higher (>25% to be exact). In almost all cases the only thing you have to do is to change the $ sign for a € sign and you have the price in Europe. Which is, due to the currency change ratio's, approximately 25% higher.

Don't ask me why this is the way it is. I guess it has something to do with on of these options ==>
A) The USA manufacturers like to screw Europe
B) USA export taxes
C) Europe import taxes
D) Nelie Kroes (member of the EU parliament)
Since you live in Europe it is not possible to buy the product 'like you were in the USA'. So just get used to being screwed....

Like SunTzu said ==> "If you can't beat them, join them".
Greetz,

Rover
ps. Why didn't you buy an upgrade copy in the period october 2012-january 2013? It was only $30 of €30 (= $40) then. That's how I got my copy .

I very much doubt that the shop that sold me the PC will help in any way.

hi
i want to buy windows 7 64bit to install it on my new computer

whats the difference between these 2 operating systems?

1.- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64BIT Operating System Software - OEM DVD - $150.00

2.- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Operating System Software - English, DVD - $300.00

does the second one have 64BIT and 32BIT both or why is there such difference between the price?

Answer:price for windows 7 pro

Hi -

Not sure where the exact terminology came from or why one contains "English"; the other does not. One says x64, etc...

One thing that I do see clearly in the 1st - "OEM" = Original Equipment Manufacturer (Dell, HP, etc...). An OEM version of Windows 7 contains the OS + OEM added "features" - the garbage pre-installed software, trial versions, etc... An OEM version dies with the system it came installed on.

I suggest that you purchase a full retail version of Windows 7. A full retail version can be transfered to another system - in other words... you own the copy for life.

This is my Order Number: 2FFVLJI've always owned a Thinkpad for the past 10 years and am a staunch Thinkpad fan.  The R60 and Z60m have been reliable and faithful companions.  I have been recommending Thinkpad to my colleagues and friends.  Hence when I needed a new laptop, I went directly to lenovo's site and ordered a T510 (Web Special) on 4th August 2010 using a valid credit card.  For two days the status was "in process".  On Aug 6th, I was unable to login in usng the cust no and order no to see the status.  When I called the sales customer service, I was informed that the order was cancelled from lenovo's side.  They pointed me to the credit card department for further information.  When I called the credit card department, they claimed information mismatch as the reason for the cancellation but they could not point out what exactly was the mismatch.  I can assure you that the card is valid.  Currently I'm not able to place another order for the same model from lenovo's site as it is no longer available.  This is very regretful as I was really looking forward to getting my laptop of choice.  I tried calling the sales dept but they are not available as it is weekend now (everyone needs a break )  So I have emailed them for help.  I'm yet to get a response.  This has been a nail biting experience.  I'm anxiously waiting for the response from the sales dept.   Will it be possibl... I think Microsoft should try for structured price points: WP (~$200 on contract) ARM (~$300-$500) x86 (~$600 & up). It is what Apple is doing with it's products. They pretty much have every price point covered from iPod, iPhone, iPad to OSX. I think it's crucial to create some sort of order/standard (software & hardware), so you don't get people buying substandard, $300, x86 machines and have it run like crap, giving the user terrible experience. What do you guys think?

Answer:Windows 8 price points?

I hope that's what MS is doing, and I hope they work with the OEM to make it happen.
Microsoft actually went to QUALCOMM and negotiated with them for pricing. I think if this happens; the OEMs, sub-component manufactures, and Microsoft could all be very happy people very soon.

Who knows

ask Ms marketing

I'd suspect if they want to push their products some sort of discount wouldn't be a bad business decision.

However "Corporate Greed" tends to get in the way --it really is amazing how many businesses seem to think a HIGH % of ZERO money is worth more than a smaller % of SOMETHING.

Ever had discussions with a Bank when for whatever reason you just can't pay -- they throw all sorts of threatograms / debt collectors at you in spite of the fact that most of these companies have about as much right to collect as your Grandma's cat -- and cannot understand that for reasons that might be TOTALLY outside your control -- for example jobs being off-shored, redundancy etc etc that you just CAN'T at the moment pay (not WON'T pay) -- so their scrobbity lawyers get involved and after a HUGE amount of hassle the Bank gets awarded 1 EUR per month for the next 1,000 years -- which had they been reasonable the whole thing could have been settled much quicker.

Cheers

Maybe this is me being super hopeful, but since Windows 8 is coming out soon, does anyone know if there will be any sales of Windows 7?

Even if not by Microsoft - the companies like PC world and Curries must have a bit of leftover they want to get rid of, and i doubt they will keep selling it after Windows 8 appears.

So, is there any chance i can pick up a copy of Windows 7 any time soon?

Thanks

Answer:Windows 7 price drop?

No there is not going to be any sale on Windows 7. If companies wish to put it on sale that is their choice there is no official markdown being offered by Microsoft so if companies choose to do it they are doing it to take the loss themselves.

You can pick up a copy anytime you want, but you wont be doing it at a discount.

How much money would you charge on top of a license?

Answer:What would be a good price to charge to downgrade windows 8/10 to 7?

Not quite sure of what you are asking is this something you are doing for someone else because in this forum really isn't the place to ask about recompense for helping someone out.

I personally will do things for nothing except charge for parts of course (if those parts are reasonably pricy) and I have to incur a cost of new part/s and I just like the challenge of doing whatever is being asked for.

Answer:Windows Vista Ulitimate 64 bit - good price

Sounds about normal. I'm not sure of the excahnge rate but OEM 64 with sp1 is $179.99 from newegg.com. Isn't it now about 2 dollars to a pound? If so it's cheaper from newegg if they ship to Leeds.

As the title indicates, I'm curious as to whether the discounted Yoga 11 price is worth it ($299 + tax). I'm currently looking for a netbook-like companion to take with me when I go to class or work. I'm currently deciding between this and the Dell Inspiron 11 3000. The Asus T100 is a bit too small for my liking, and has some quality control issues. Chromebooks are ruled out largely due to the lack of editing PDF support (there are some apps, but they mostly are terrible). While I like the form factor and battery life, I'm skeptical of the Tegra 3 processor. That's about 2 years old now, and I've been hearing that the Yoga 11 (and Surface RT first gen) are both pretty laggy when it comes to typing in Microsoft Word and using other apps in general. Have these issues been fixed with updates (particularly, the 8.1 update recently released)? Or would people suggest passing on the Yoga and going for something that's full windows?

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:Yoga 11 (Windows RT) - worth the discounted price?

I bought a Yoga 11 recently, at the $299 price, and although I have some quibbles, I'm generally very pleased and would recommend it, especially at this price. Windows 8.1 RT has a very snappy interface, even with the Tegra 3 cpu, and I've never noticed any lag switching between programs, and from the desktop to metro interface. I've also found Word performs very well, along with the rest of Office. I just gave a presentation at a panel this weekend and everyone in my group loaded their powerpoints on my Yoga 11, most of them created on Macs. Everything went fluidly.  Where you notice the CPU is in loading programs, and downloading/installing software. Programs like Word take an extra 2-3 seconds beyond what I'm used to from my Atom netbook (which also uses an SSD). I suspect the I/O to the drive isn't that fast, along with the processor. My wife has a Nexus 7 with the same processor, however, and it seems to perform better on the Yoga in Windows 8.1. I'm an Android person, but I really wanted a fully functional version of Office for my portable, along with great battery life -- this thing fits the bill, even better than the 11S, which has around half the battery life. I don't mind being stuck with RT, though it still has few apps, since I'm using this device mostly for tablet-style media consumption, and occasional Office work. It's perfect for that. The thing about it is that the build quality is clearly that of a much more expensive machine. So even tho... Read more

It's going to run you around $140 for Windows 7 while you can go to Windows 8 for $40. With a little work you can make Windows 8 look and feel a lot like Windows 7.

By now, our readers know that Windows 10 is slated to be released to manufacturing this July. Popular shopping site Newegg has apparently and likely inadvertently revealed the general availability date for Windows 10, by listing a pre-order of Windows 10 Pro OEM. According to Newegg (first spotted by WinSupersite), Windows 10 Pro OEM will run for $149.99 and will be available on the 31st of August.

Microsoft has yet to reveal the price tiers for the different Windows 10 editions (you can read more about that here) and there's a chance that this information may just be a place holder for Windows 10 on Newegg. For example, Windows 7 is also listed for $149.99. For now, we suggest taking this with a huge grain of salt. Here's a cached version of the Newegg listing on Google in case it gets removed.

I've upgraded my T440 to Windows 10 and the latest mousepad driver seems to be giving me issues. With the Synaptics driver 19.0.17.27 installed, trying to select a new window to make it top most will often fails. That window will hide behind other windows. If I try to uninstall the Synaptics driver once, the window z-order issue will be fixed, but the driver is like half uninstalled and most mousepad function will no longer work (2 finger stroll, right click, button press)  The input cursor will also jump around too while I tried to type. Is Lenovo aware of this issue? I think I've seen another person in another forum mention this.  This is becoming quite frustrating for me.

We have until July 11 or so to pre-order Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional for about 1/2 price ($50 and $99 respectively). Which version would you put on your s10?When I look at the feature comparisons it looks like Windows XP mode probably is the only thing I'd use from Professional that Home Premium doesn't have. Or is there other stuff in Professional that they aren't mentioning?ggeinecMessage Edited by ggeinec on 06-28-2009 12:21 PM

Answer:Windows 7 pre-order

As far as I know the Windows XP mode (Windows Virtual PC) requires the virtualization technology Intel VT or AMD-V. The N270 does not support this feature and therefore it should not work on the S10. The Professional Edition also features the offline files for network shares, for my opinion a necessary function for mobile devices. Anyone else?  Greetings Carsten

Dear MS support,
I have the following situation and really appreciate if you can provide any guidelines. I'm working on a windows machine with two adapters. Will try to summarize it here :
1- NIC#1 has ipv4 only enabled and it has one dns server. Plus a default domain name of test.com.
2- NIC#2 has both ipv4 and ipv6 enabled. Plus a default domain name of test.com. [there are a valid ipv6 dns server too].
3- All the interfaces has the following dns suffixes enabled :
hyari1.com
hyari2.com

Problem
=====

When i try to resolve a name without a domain. I get the following behavior :
1- First i see an ipv4 dns query on NIC#1 to the name appended with the domain test.com and i get no such name for that one which is expected.
2- Instead of trying the next dns suffixes on that interface i see that the dns resolver jumps to the ipv6 dns server on NIC#2 . And here is my Problem, why it didn't continue to resolve all the suffixes on NIC#1 .

Please notice that in the binding order. NIC#1 appears before NIC#2.

is this expected and why ?

Moh.

Alt + Tab order runs in order of most recently used (MRU) to least recent.  I want to change this order to a static order that I opened each program.
Example:  I open program 1, 2, 3, 4.  If I'm on window #1, I alt+tab, I go to window #2, I alt+tab again I go to window #1, I alt+tab, again I go to window #2.  From what I read this is called most recently used (MRU) order.
I would like to start on window #1, alt+tab, go to window #2, alt+tab, go to window #3, alt+tab, go to window #4.  I have no idea what this is called and thus searching for an answer is hard.

Please and thank you.
Also hotkeys/macros might be a work around but I don't know how to set that up and the total number of open windows is variable...

Amazon has Windows 7 on Pre order as you may know. I have already pre ordered the Pro version for ?89 (price went up now) but today i saw this:

"Customers who buy an eligible copy of Windows Vista from Amazon.co.uk between 26th June and 15th October 2009 [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_84386313_1?ie=UTF8&docId=1000321063&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=special-node-offers-3&pf_rd_r=1ZMDJ1T9KQJ22XM47DXW&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=470482053&pf_rd_i=B002DUCMTC"]are eligible for a free copy of the equivalent version of Windows 7[/ame] when it is launched. Now if you read closely you'll see that the equivalents for Windows 7 Ulti are:

Answer:Windows 7 Pre-Order from Amazon.co.uk

Firstly, the only difference between 'upgrade' and 'full' versions is that with the 'upgrade' version you need a prior installation or DVD to install. (There are even ways round that.)
Secondly, if the free upgrade to 7 for Vista buyers is anything like what I went through with XP and Vista then I wouldn't bother. It will almost certainly be done by agents of MS through a voucher scheme, and last time it took quite a few months after Vista was released for the DVD to be delivered.

Hi,
I just installed Windows 7 RTM 64bit twice and notice something weird.
Hard Drive Order: (I have them setup in port order; port 0, port 1, port 2, etc....)
HD: 5 HD - port 0 is WD Raptor 150gb(primary part); rest are all 500GB and all identical in firmware and all setup for primary partition.
All HD are SATA and IDE is disable in the BIOS.

1st Installation:
BIOS: AHCI

After Win 7 installation, I see port 0(Raptor 150gb) as C:\ because that s where I install Win 7 onto. However, Port 1 is E:\, Port 2 is D:\.

Why is that?
2nd Installation:
BIOS: RAID
After Win 7 installation, I see port 0(Raptor 150gb) as C:\, port 1 as D:\, port 2 as E:\, etc..
CORRECT!!!
My understanding would be 2nd installation is correct regardless of BIOS being set to IDE, AHCI, or RAID in the BIOS. However, seems Windows 7 wants to do its own way when it's setup for AHCI. I understand Primary partitions comes before logical, but all 5 HDs all have primary partition only.

MB is Asus Rampage.
Any idea why?

Thank You!

Answer:How does Windows 7 determine the order of the HD?

That happened to me also. I just went to disk management (diskmgmt.msc) and changed all the drive letters to what I wanted them.

Hey everyone, I apologize in advance if I won't be able to answer all of your questions, but I'll try my best. I'm not an Active Directory Administrator, but I know a little.

Currently in our Windows Server 2003 environment, our users were experiencing slow response times on certain applications. It wasn't until we noticed that our consultants didn't have the same issue, and we traced it to the fact our users have a Home Profile set that maps an H:\ drive to their home folder.

All of our corporate systems are housed in a hosting facility and the users use clients installed on terminal servers there to access those applications. So when a user is logged into those terminal servers, their home folder will be across the WAN and the response times will be very slow at times (depending on users internet traffic and other things).

We think the issue is a Windows problem with DLL Search Order, but we can't pinpoint the resolution.

The way we determined this was by running ProcessMon from SysInternals and view what was going on. When we launched the application, it was searching for a particular DLL (XYZ.DLL, for instance). In ProcessMon, you would see a bunch of lines where the result was "NAME NOT FOUND", but the order looked something like this:

1 - Folder where Executable was launched
2 - C:\Windows\system32\xyz.dll
3 - C:\Windows\system\xyz.dll
4 - C:\Windows\xyz.dll
5 - H:\Windows\xyz.dll
6 - Folder where Executable w... Read more

June 26th I went to Microsoft site and from there went to Walmart and pre-ordered 2 copies of the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade for 99.92 each. On the 10th of this month Walmart emails me and tells me that my order has been cancelled. After several emails and phone calls, they tell me that it is their policy to check with the credit card company every 30 days for verification. They tell me that in July they check and am good to go. They check again in August and am good to go. They check again and am denied by my credit card company. I would think that to my credit card company, it would appear that someone has tried to make this same purchase three times in three months and my card company has gotten suspicious.
So in essence, would it appear that because of Walmart's ****ed up policy, this purchase that I had thought was going to cost me 200.00 is now going to cost twice that.

Anyone else had this lousy experience with this lousy outfit....just curious?

Answer:Windows 7 Pre-order from Walmart.com

No, but I'm sure there are more ppl than you who have maxed out there credit card. And you know the business can not charge the CARD until they can verify the product has/can be shipped. That is to protect you as well as the shipper. In this case Walmart.
Last time I checked you can still PRE-Order from Several 3rd party org over the internet... under the same they can not charge until they can SHIP.

I thought the $99.00 release was the DOWNLOAD version.

I am running a duel core processor so It should be compatible with 64 bit, One other question Is When I go to the website to pre-order Windows 7 I do not see an option to buy 64 bit, So what are you getting when you want to order a version, 32 bit or 64?. I  am assuming the standard Buy Is 32 bit.

Answer:Another Windows 7 pre order question.

1. Quick way to check your processor to see if it's 64 bit (should be, but won't hurt to check anyway)...download SecurAble program from this link ... http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/SecurAble-Download-73409.htmlRun it, and if you see it says "64 Maximum Bit Length", then you are able to run 64 bit windows. 2. I'd like to know what website you are planning to preorder windows 7 from. Anyway... According to the FAQ via this link ... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/buy/offers/pre-order-faq.aspx, Microsoft says that "You?ll get both. Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional packaged products include both 32- and 64-bit discs. " So ou'll get the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions of windows in one package  and you can just install whatever edition that you want (and are able to)

Over the past week or so. I've run into a problem that the system on reboot hangs on loading the operating system. The fix
for this issue is to boot the system and hitting the F12 key. This brings up the change boot order menu. Then you just tell it to boot from the first disk and it boots up.

Thanks
RAC

Answer:boot order windows 10

Glad you found the solution!

I have 3 hdd. All of them are sata and i can see the corect order showed in BIOS:
Disk 0 - WD 500GB
Disk 1 - WD 1TB
Disk 2 - Samsung 1TB

Right from the instalation part windows does not see the corect order.
Disk 0 - WD 1TB
Disk 1 - WD 500GB
Disk 2 - Samsung 1 TB

Any ideea why?

Answer:Windows does not see correct hdd order.

Windows sees the order based on the Boot Order in BIOS.
BIOS sees the order based on the SATA port they are hooked up to.

Microsoft are apparently offering the FULL RETAIL versions for £49/£99 if you pre-order before 9th August. However, reading their FAQ page, they state that you need to be running an already installed version of XP or Vista, which suggests that it will act like an upgrade version which will check your currently installed OS before performing the install. Can anyone clarify? Could I build a new system and install the discount version?

Hello,
I have a Toshiba laptop that came with Win 7 Home premium 64-bit. I installed Win 7 Pro 64-bit on top of Home Premium. Now I want to but a new laptop and move Win 7 Pro to the new laptop. Do I have to deactivate the Win 7 Pro? If so how do I do that?

Answer:deactivate windows 7 in order to reinstall on another PC

Welcome
You must uninstall Pro by installing another OS over it or format it
Then just install in the new computer.
You can install as many times as you like but one computer at a time.

Hi there. I noticed that Windows (even Win 7) loads items in a weird order. For instance it loads an email notifier and a weather notifier before it has loaded the network connections (access to the internet). Is there a way to change that order somewhere? I have looked at MsConfig, but do not see any indication there. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Answer:Can you change Windows 7 boot order?

No doubt there is a reason why Windows chooses to load stuff in a certain order and we would be very foolish to think we can do it better. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Missed out on the early preorder discounts? Popular retailer Newegg.com has listed the OEM prices for Windows 7, which will be offered at less than half what Microsoft will charge for a retail copy.
Newegg hasn't listed any prerequisites for buying the OEM version, such as the purchase of any additional hardware. Past OEM copies have prevented users from taking advantage of Microsoft's support options, however, and the packaging and instructions are usually minimal.

Thanks for the post. OEMs do not have support(supposidly)that retail versions have, but I've never had any problems with them and have always used them since '95, and in these times any saving is a saving.

Hi I installed Windows 7 x64 Pro on my Lenovo y510p tonight, and I have had trouble identifying the right order to install the drivers. On trying to install the drivers I noticed that some of them are numbered when the files are extracted to "C:\drivers\" others are not: 1. Intel Chipset Driver,2. Intel Rapid Storage Technology,3. USB 3.0 Driver,4. Intel Management Engine Interface,5. Intel Video Driver (64-bit),6. Realtek Audio Driver,7. Atheros Lan Driver,8. ?9. Hi,

I was browsing the information regarding pre-ordering Windows 7 in the UK for ?49.99 / ?99.99 and am relatively pleased with such an offer. My concern however is regarding information posted by MS at:

http://emea.microsoftstore.com/UK/Mi...dows-7-Preview

Now I understand that due to the forced use of the E version only a clean install will be possible; with that in mind- why does MS state under system requirements that a genuine version of XP or Vista is required to use this version to perform a clean install of 7?

It states on the page linked that "Operating System:
Must be running a genuine copy of the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems."

Now I would like to install this on a PC that doesn't have an OS (well is currently running Linux), so am I not alowed to buy this as I don't have a genuine version of XP or Vista that I'd like to sacrifice? It's left me a little confused. Can this be bought and installed on a PC w/o an OS? Does it actually require a genuine version of xp/vista installed?

Cheers,
Dean

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows 7 (UK) Pre-Order Concern?

themoodude, this is an upgrade option. You have to have an existing installation of XP/Vista to install. That is why it's so cheap! If you want to do an install on a clean system then the price is higher, $199 I believe.
