Preferred Solution: Which version of .NET Framework is included in which version of Windows ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

How to tell what version of .NET framework you have installed on your Windows PC? ASoft .NET Version Detector for Windows 10 / 8 / 7 is a lightweight tool that gives information on the different versions of Microsoft .NET that are installed on a machine. If a certain version isn't on the machine, you can simply follow the link that .NET Version Detector suggests, so it is easier for the novice user to find the runtimes.
It supports command line option to export data to file (txt/xml) and not show the user application
It works on Windows 8 too and shows the default .NET versions installed from version 1.0 to 4.5.
You can get it here. You might want to also check out .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool.

I need to use a version of Windows that does not force me to use a version of .NET that's newer than 3.5 when trying to run software like CorelDraw and SolidWorks, both of which are asking for 3.5

Windows 8.1 does not allow me to install .NET 3.5

Answer:What version of Windows was current when .NET Framework 3.5 was released?

I don't quite understand you're question. You know every .NET framework has everything the one before it has right? For example,.NET 4 will run .NET 4 programs, .NET 3.5, and before. .NET 4.5 runs 4, 3.5, and before. Etc, etc.

Hey guys,
I've been wondering about one thing...
According to Microsoft Update Catalog, quite a few .NET updates for Windows 7 SP1 have been superseeded by the October's 2016 Security and Quality Rollup for the .NET Framework 3.0 SP 2, 4.5.2, and 4.6 (KB3188744). For example: KB3163251 (MS16-091)
or KB3142033 (MS16-065)
OK, fine. Everything would be OK, except one thing. The KB3188744 is only for Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 according to the KB article description and the name itself:

October, 2016 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.0, 4.5.2, 4.6 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 (KB3188744)
So what about Windows 7 SP1? We are deploying patches via SCCM in our organization, and the KB3163251 or KB3142033 for Windows 7 are no longer available (expired), but the new KB3188744 cannot be deployed because obviously it shows up as not required
on Windows 7 machines.
So is manually installing the previous patches like KB3163251 and KB3142033 the only way to patch older vulnerabilities now? Or is it simply a bug that .NET Framework security and quality rollup was not released for Windows 7 this month?
Thanks in advance for answers.

I built a new pc a month ago and have been running Win7 RC1 on it for the time being. Obviously Win7 is coming out next week so I am getting ready to purchase the full version. I could buy the Retail version of Win7 Home Premium 64-bit for $199, or the System Builders version for $99 on newegg.

Can anybody go ahead and buy the System Builders version, or is that restricted to actual pc resellers? Would newegg ask me for a resellers license or something if I try to order it? I built the pc, don't need MS support for it, and will only ever use that copy of Win7 on that pc. I just hate spending twice as much money for the Retail version if legally I can buy and use the System Builders version for half the price. Or am I better off paying more money for the Retail version?

Also, if I can buy the System Builders version, I assume it will come with the install dvd as well as install key? Plus, with that, I can install that copy on just this pc as many times as I want without limitations, correct? Meaning, I usually format and reload windows on a pc twice a year so over 4-5 years I will be reinstalling that copy of windows on the same pc 8-10 approx over the years.

Answer:Buying full version of Windows7: Retail version or System Builders version?

Anyone can buy an OEM license. They're cheaper because they don't include Microsoft support. You are your support. OEM licenses are tied to the hardware on which they're installed. Technically you are prohibited from installing an OEM copy on a completely different system, though many people will do this and successfully activate their copy by saying their motherboard failed and had to be replaced, etc.

I have a new build using Windows 7 HP SP1 64-bit which has been up and running for about a month. MS updates for 11/14/12 included the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Win 7. This update failed to install (several times), even when done alone. First time since building system where it has failed an update. Only thing I have added since original build is a EVGA GTX 650 video card (last week). Anyone else experience this problem or know what the error code below indicates?

Answer:Windows update - Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 failed

not with that particular update, but there have been times where I've manually downloaded the exe and installed it without issue, when it continually failed via Windows Update.

Hello, everyone.

Can anyone please settle a debate I'm having with some colleagues? Which version of Windows was the first to have built-in capabilities to create or uncompress .zip files?

(I'm referring to being able to create or unzip a .zip file via the Send To/Compressed (zipped) Folder option and the Extract All option.)

One colleague says Windows XP. I argued no, that supported compression of data via NTFS but that's not the same as being able to create or unzip a .zip file via the Send To menu. (I could be wrong, since I do not remember XP all that much anymore.)

Another says you could do it as far back as Windows 95, but it required Microsoft Plus--so I say that doesn't particularly count.

Who's right? Thank you! Jd

Windows XP first introduced the Compressed Folder (zipped) Send To... context menu.

I have an HP Pavilion Laptop, Windows 7-64bit.
My WMP11 does the following:
1. It clones music titles...even in front of my eyes.
2. Music files disappear.
3. Titles are now assuming wrong names even though content remains.
4. My music files come from my Music Library. Those have not changed or cloned..

5. I deleted WMP11 and re-installed...but all the above errors returned.
6. My Library files are skewed. Music is mixed with Video and with Documents and all around. Why? I dunno.
7. My music library is around 25GB; but it changes with the losses mentioned in #2 above.
8. I tried RealPlayer but their format leaves a lot to be desired by me. Also, it keeps requiring Flashplayer and no matter how many time I download it, it asks for it again.
9. I am 80 years old, not very computer savvy and I'm blessed with Parkinsons. Music is my hobby.

I have ugraded to version 1607 and I notice the restart time is 2.5 longer than version 1511. The boot time is about the same on both versions. I also did a clean install of version 1607 and the restart time was still about 2.5 times as long as version 1511.
What is going on with version 1607?

I am running an "Anytime Upgrade" version of Windows 7 Professional. I have since discovered that sysprep does not function (or is disabled) on "Anytime Upgrade" versions of Windows 7. In other words, if I had purchased a physical
copy of Windows 7 professional then sysprep would be available. Since I did not, sysprep is not available.

Question: If I purchased a full retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate and upgraded my current version of Windows 7 Professional using that DVD could I then regain a working sysprep feature on my laptop?

Thank you in advance. I would upgrade to Windows 10, but my graphics card is not supported by Windows 10. I receive an error from Windows 10 Upgrade .... "Windows 10 is not compatible with your graphics card".

Any workarounds or advice would be appreciated.

I installed a Japanese version of windows 10 but then bought an English version and installed that after finding all the menus could not be changed to English during the install.
My question is does the English version overwrite the JP version or are files left on the SSD using up space?
Also in the end I returned the English version cause I found you can add a language pack to the JP version. The problem with this is that if you get a blue screen the Windows messages are in Japanese. So now unless I can change this I'm going to go back to an English version of Windows 10.
Thanks.

installation on my newly built computer and I don't want to do the double installation trick. I tried using these instructions http://blog.chriskankiewicz.com/post/10/windows-7-activation-hack/ . But when I went to make the registry changes I couldn't find "...Setup\OOBE" under the CurrentVersion directory. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm a novice regarding the directory so please be very explicit in your instructions. Or is there another way to do a clean install with Windows 7 upgrade? A lot of the instructions on how to do so on Google are obsolete as Microsoft has fixed some of the loopholes.

Answer:Clean installation of Windows 7 from Upgrade version not Full version

Here is a better tutorial on how to do it:

The instructions seem the same, but it does include a file that will do the registry edit for you.

Look in Add/Remove programs. You could have 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 or any combination of those. There's no problem with having several versions installed at the same time.

Answer:which version of .net framework do I need??

If you are installing the accounting software it should tell you which version of .NET software it needs. Chances are it is already on the disk and will be installed with the accounting software so it is not something you should have to worry about.Worst case is that you will get a pop up telling you what version to download and install.

Do you wish to login to Windows under the same user everytime you boot?
If so, just go into the registry and add a string value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE..SOFTWARE..MICROSOFT..WINDOWS NT..CURRENTVERSION..WINLOGON for AutoAdminLogon and set it = 1
Also, under the same registry folder, add string values for "DefaultUserName" and make it equal to whatever your username is.....and then "DefaultPassword" and make that equal to whatever your password is for the user account.

Hi, all.

I've got an XP SP3 build desktop siting on my repair desk. It had a bad stick of RAM in it, causing lots of BSODs and failed installs and upgrades. Solved that, ran CHKDSK /R to correct the directories and now updates nicely.

However, in installing the newest ATI Catalyst Center, I discovered that .NET Framework is not installed on this machine. I did download the standalone installable packages, but they always crash and roll back. I've done my research and have manually removed everything I could. I ran the >NET Framework cleaner that is all over the MSDN blogs and the NET framework verfier (all editions not installed).

So, I am sitting here with a clean computer and no way to get NET framework on it.

Can someone offer me the way to the promised land?

Thanks,
OneRing2Rule

Answer:Can't install .NET framework, any version

What version of NET are you trying to install? You should install the Framework 3.5, SP1 download, then install the Catalyst package.I would uninstall the ATI package, if it is now installed...install 3.5, SP1...then install the ATI package.NET Framework 3.5, SP1LouisIf you get an error, post the exact error message and the details of what point it appears.

Answer:Microsoft .NET framework version 1.1 and 2.0?

You can, but if you have a program that was designed for the 1.1, it may have small issues. Or refuse to run at all. Unless you are short on disk space, no real reason to remove it. All of our machines have 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5. If an application targets a specific version, it will expect to find it.

Which version of .NET Framework do I need to keep and which can I uninstall? Running out of HD space!!

Answer:Which version of Microsoft .NET Framework do I need?

You need to keep to all of them because different applications require different versions. That's why existing versions are preserved when you install a different version. . If you uninstall any of them, one or more applications may not be able to run.

If free drive space is getting low, either uninstall some applications you seldom use, buy two external hard drives to transfer your user-data to (you need two so that you have a backup), or replace your existing drive with a larger one.

Answer:Do we need Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 ?

It only allows applications to run as that application uses the .NET framework to function. No framework = application will not run.So if you have any applications that need the framework to work then you'll need to install it.If you have no application that need the framework then there is no need to install it!

Hiya

The .NET Framework Software Development Kit (SDK) contains samples, compilers, and command-line tools designed to help you build applications and services based on .NET Framework technology. The SDK also provides documentation that includes an extensive class library reference, conceptual overviews, step-by-step procedures, tools information, and tutorials that demonstrate how to create specific types of applications. If you want to distribute the .NET Framework with your application, you also need to download the NET Framework Redistributable version 1.0.

Note Version 1.0a of the .NET Framework SDK removes a security vulnerability found in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine. If you have previously installed the .NET Framework SDK v1.0, you do not need to install the .NET Framework SDK v1.0a, instead you should install the latest service packs.

c) Does the CLR support run time replacement of assemblies - if the system is executing assembly A, and then a new version of that assembly, lets say A1 is registered, who takes care of the 'handshaking problems' if any - for example, taking care of threads that are already executing in the old assembly A ?

I am using windows xp and internet explorer 8. should I install .net framework 2.0.50727 or .net framework 4. I currently have .net framework 1.0 and 1.1 installedI am running SP3 which includes DirectX 9.0cI am running Service Pack 3 in windows xp I am using internet explorer 8 to start up and bing but, my printer does not print correctly in black ink. I installed firefox 27 (the only one it would install for me) and the printer worked fine but, I keep getting a message to install .net framework 2.0.50727 or 4. Now I'm getting the same message for internet explorer 8.I don't know what a 'Message' field is?If you figure out anything please email me

Answer:which .Net Framework version should I install for XP?

Just run Windows Update & install everything that's available. As for which browser to use, XP only supports up to IE8 & since many sites don't work well with older/outdated browsers, installing Firefox was a good move. I believe 27 is the current version, it will update automatically as newer versions are released. You probably realize that Microsoft will stop supporting XP next month, that means no more updates or fixes. What are your system specs & which anti-virus are you running?message edited by riider

Just roaming around in my installed programs looking for programs I do not have a real need for and noticed I have multiple versions of Microsoft.Net Framework installed. I have v1.1, v2.0 SP2, v3.0 SP2 and v3.5 SP1.

I have a general idea of what the program is for, but do not know whether I actually have a legitimate need for any of them. Do the newer version include the older versions? Can some be removed safely? Is this the kind of MS thing best left alone?

I do not have a space problem on my HDD, just like to keep things tidy.

Hi Folks,

This is my very first posting on this forum. Hello to everyone.

I recently installed Microsoft .NET framework version 2.0 on my PC in order to be able to run a variety of applications. One such example is SpeedConnect XP Internet Accelerator and another is Microsoft SyncToy. When I double-click on SyncToy, for example, the first time I do this it fails to start up and I get the message 'SyncToy has encountered a problem and needs to close. Please tell Microsoft about this problem.' So I send off the fault report to Microsoft and then it disappears off into a black hole. Interestingly, if I then try a second time to fire up SyncToy, it usually starts and all is well. I have similar problems when using other applications that require Microsoft .NET framework version 2.0 to be installed.

So, my question is - has anyone else had similar experiences and, if so, how did you remedy the problem?

Answer:Microsoft .NET framework version 2.0

I haven't found a fix, but I have found that when using Outlook w/Business Contact Manager, installing .NET 2.0 prevents BCM from running. Outlook fails to start and gets trapped in a "send fault report" loop (open Outlook, fault, send fault, auto reopen Outlook, fault, sen fault, auto reopen Outlook .....). Uninstalling NET 2 lets BCM run again , but they can't both be installed. I seen it mentioned on the MS tech forums but so far no fix.

Windows Update decided I needed to install "Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929729)." The update was released July 10 and has failed to install numerous times. I was under the inpression Vista already had Version 2.0, so I am baffled why it wants to install a 1.1 update, and my update history lists that "Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB929916)" was successfully installed on July 10.

Can I make Vista recognize I don't need the V1.1 service pack so it stops trying to install or, if it is needed, can I make it complete the install?

Answer:Update Microsoft.net Framework, Version 1.1

As I understand it, the .NET versions are separate and standalone. You should have Vs 1.1 plus a Hotfix, Vs 2.0, and as you have Vista you should also have Vs 3.

MS offers free help for critical update problems, so I would be inclined to check there first. If you don't get any joy, come back and I'm sure someone will be able to assist you.

Alright, I thought I had the process nailed down, but I'm not having much luck.

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit version coming tomorrow. It comes with 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 seems like the first OS that has wide support for the 64 bit version, please correct me if I'm wrong. So I thought I'd upgrade to 64 bit since everyone tells me I can do so, legally, for free, with the key on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

So I planned to download the ISO via Bit Torrent and check the hash, as somebody recommended. I installed MD5Summer.

But I'm stuck because I can't seem to find the Hash Checksums for W7 HP 64. Can anybody provide me a link to them on MS's site, or similar?

Anybody got a good BT link to save me from searching myself? I didn't see any that looked like the right version on Demonoid. What should my search term be? "Windows 7 OEM 64"?

I've never installed Windows 7, does the procedure differ from XP? I've installed XP hundreds of times.

What's the best way to verify performance of my new laptop? Free benchmarking program? Website with common benchmarks? I'd like to see if the OS upgrade actually benefits the benchmarks.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Answer:New Laptop, Want to upgrade from Windows 7 32 bit version to 64 bit version

I have a bunch of OS backups using ghost and I can use ghost explorer to view the image files. Unfortunately I didn't make details on what OS version was installed at the time, just dates the images were taken.

How can I find if these images were from Vista or Windows 7 by just looking at the contents of the image, without actually restoring the image?

Answer:How to identify Windows version by file version?

did you install IE8 on your Vista install?
otherwise it comes default with IE7, and Win7 comes with IE8.

so you could use the file version of iexplore.exe, if you left IE7 on the Vista install.

possibly bootmgr file might be different file versions.

I'm trying to install some applications on a Lenovo ideapad with windows 7 home premium, 64-bit, SP1. Answer:Quick question about Microsoft.NET Framework Version 1.1

.net is microsoft's "proprietary" new set of programming languages. essentially, it allows you to run programs written on the newest versions of microsoft's languages (eg c#). even though it's probably not needed at all for websurfing or just run-of-the-mill programs, other programs you download may have be written in one of the newer languages. it won't hurt to install framework 1.1 (i did), but it's not a total loss not to install it just yet.

Hello,

Question 1: How do I determine the version number of McAfee Framework on Windows 5, 6, 7, 8, etc.

When I run services.msc on Windows (via the Search box and the Start task bar), I see FrameworkService.exe. The description shown is "Shared component framework for McAfee products."

This service, I believe, is McAfee Framework. I'm looking how to determine the version number of this.

For work, I have to determine the version number of McAfee Framework on several computers because they may be updated to a newer version of McAfee Framework.

Question 2: How do I install the most recent version of McAfee Framework?

Thank you,
Michael

Answer:How Do I Determine The Version Number Of "McAfee Framework"

Hi Michael The article below might be of use to you:https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB58876Personally, I would right-click on the FrameworkService.exe file and select Properties. From there, I would go in the Details tab and check the version number of the file. If it doesn't have the version number, we could make you list your installed programs with MiniToolBox and look for "McAfee Framework". Usually, the version number is listed with the program name.

Hello,I have had a recent problem with my computer which required me to do a system restoration. After doing that, I found that Framework 2.0 service pack 1, which I had uninstalled before, was in my Programs list. I tried to uninstall it or repair it but it kept requiring netfx20a_x86.msi which I don't have anymore. In matter of fact, Framework 2.0 was installed on my computer as a part of Framework 3.5 package. So my question is: if I downloaded and installed Framework.Net 3.5 again in order to uninstall it properly, would that solve the problem or will I be creating a mess in my PC?All advices are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hiya

.NET Framework language packs contain translated text, such as error messages, for languages other than English. Installation of a language pack is not required to run .NET Framework applications on a non-English operating system; however, it is recommended. Multiple language packs, each for a different language, can be installed on a single computer.

Note: An English .NET Framework version 1.1 language pack is not available as all text is in English by default. To download a specific language pack, select the target language from the drop-down on the right.
System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP

Important: Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Windows that you are running. To find recent security updates for you, visit Windows Update.

You must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for all installations of the .NET Framework

You must also install the Microsoft .NET Framework Redistributable 1.1. Please see the Microsoft .NET Framework Web site for more information on the .NET Framework Redistributable 1.1.

Note: When installing a .NET Framework language pack on a computer running the Windows 98 or Windows Me operating system, the system code page and font must support the language pack being installed. There are several options:

Recently I went into ADD/REMOVE Programs and I noticed that I had the following listed seperately:

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 185MB

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 179MB

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 28.05MB

I am wondering if I could not at least remove 2.0 Service Pack 2 185MB

3.5 would appear to be a supplement to 3.0 so I assume I would have to leave those two alone.

Can anyone advise me on this? I am trying to conserve space on my C drive.

Answer:Microsoft .NET Framework version removal question

You are not allowed to do that because the newer versions depend on certain older versions already installed--in the case of this program. When I was unistalling all of them I had to uninstall from newest to oldest. I tried to uninstall .NET Framework 2.0 first, but the unistaller said that other programs require this to be on the computer, thus unistallation cannot be completed. I am also quite sure that all three were installed at the same time and if this is true, then this is another indication that newer versions require certain previous versions.

Yesterday's patch Tuesday Updates offered KB3072305, which is described as an important security update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 (*not* "3.5.1 and above"). Why would this be offered to me when the only version I have listed in Program and Features is 4.5.2? I applied the update, but I am still wondering about this. Thanks.

Answer:Offered security update for version of .NET Framework I don't have?

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 is native to Windows 7.

You have it if you have Windows 7.

Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 does not uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.

REQUIRED SYSTEM SOFTWARE NOT INSTALLED
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 is required to continue. This softward is available at http://microsoft.com/downloads/

I click, OK --- message goes away. No problems.

However, this started when installing a Dell V305 "all-in-one" printer. It is a wi-fi device and works lovely IF you're only doing one particular thing (e.g., printing), should you need to scan, then you have to reinstall the whole printer again...after having Dell troubleshoot it. I BELIEVE this is when it started...all I know for sure? The "all-in-one" printer is bogus.

Around the same time it was absolutely imparative my 13 yr. old HAD to hook up Xbox Live. Those are the only two events I can specifically point to.
And yes, I've uninstalled, reinstalled (2.0 is not compatible with my machine)....pretty much everything but click my heels three times.
Any help would be appreciated....IMMENSELY!

Hello,

I was trying to install a CAT application (MemoQ) when the process got interrupted during the installation of .net framework client profile, version 4. I found out that this version is no longer supported, but I'm not sure if this is the issue, since I broke off the installation during the first time. Also, I used a cleanup tool, but to no avail.
As for RegEdit, the versions for Net Framework Setup that came with my Windows 7 version (installed it last December) are v2.05727, v3.0 and v3.5, so I'm well behind.
Do I need to clean out any files from the failed installation, and then move on to installing the proper version (which one? for Windows 7 Pro 64-bit)?

Many thanks,

Gerben

P.S. I tried copy-pasting the analysis from the MGDAT, but that doesn't work, sorry.

When I try, my pc ends up having to reverse the changes and will reboot itself twice before I'm back up and running again.

I am not a computer wiz and I don't know what to do. Our IT consultant simply tells me not to download it and turn off automatic updates, but I feel that if they say they're important they ought to be installed. I have also had other updates fail, but they will eventually install if I keep trying and install them one at a time.

I would be grateful for any help. Our pcs are only just about a year and a half old (windows 7 64 bit).

Hey there,I've got the same scenario on both my old/current XP Home and new/replacement (most likely going back) XP Pro laptop.Add/Remove Programs lists these two things:Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366) When I go to Windows Update, it shows that I successfully installed this:Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB928366)So I'm guessing that's the same as the Hotfix listed above in Add/Remove Programs? But the actual .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 is not listed in Add/Remove Programs. Is it supposed to be?I know some people were having issues with this stuff -- so I wanted to make sure I was okay security-wise here (or if I need to do that unintall and reinstall everything scenario). I don't use this .NET Framework stuff (nor know what it's for). I just want to make sure the computer is secure. Thanks!

Answer:Question About .net Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (kb928366)

Hey there,

Here's the update for anyone who has a similar question...

I talked to Microsoft, and it appears you don't need to have Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 listed in Add/Remove Programs. If Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB928366) came up for you on Windows Update and you installed it successfully, that means you already had Service Pack 1 on your computer. The listing in Add/Remove Programs for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 actually encompasses Service Pack 1.

Hope that helps anybody with the same question I had...

Take care.

Hi,

I've had great success with you folks in the past removing viruses and with increasing my system response time and I would like to ask for your assistance once again.

I was having trouble installing the new MS update KB922770 earlier this week.
I had this problem in the past and it was resolved by deleting the .NET Framework 2.0, reinstalling it then installing the update.

Now when I try to reinstall the .NET Framework 2.0 I get the message:
C:\Documents and Settings\Beau McCrury\Desktop\.Netfx.exe is not a valid WIN32 application.

I don't know what this error message means and consequently I'm not sure what to do next. Would you please advise me on how I should proceed?

Sincerely,
Beau McCrury

Answer:Unable To Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 And Update KB922770

Hi beaumac

Quick Fix Try:
1) Make sure that Update KB922770 is not present, and if it is, uninstall it [Add-Remove Programs in Control Panel]
2) Try deleting whatever .NET 2.0 download you currently have, and use this link to download a fresh copy --- http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...a/dotnetfx.exe
3) If .NET 2.0 installs successfully, you can then reboot, and try another visit to Windows Update to see if the patch now installs OK.

The error you were receiving can sometimes be generated (humorously enough) when the 64-bit version of .NET is accidentally downloaded and it's installer run [the error message is konked a bit, because 32-bit Windows gets a bit dizzy when fed 64bit code].

See if that helps
. . . Gary

after a virus removal i get this pop ups when i start my pc "explorer.exe. net framework unable to find a version of runtime to run this to application" usually like 6 or 7 sometimes more than that. also i get a text document open when i start up the pc,any help is really appreciated.

Answer:explorer.exe. net framework unable to find a version of runtime to run this applicat

Some or all of your .Net framework programs(s) was affected.

Do any appear in Add/Remove Programs?

If they do, uninstall through there.

If they don't, or do and won't uninstall, then use the .Net removal tool -> Automated cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

After that, reboot and use MS Update to get them installed again (you start with 1 and work your way up).

So I was wondering whether it was necessary to "update" DirectX after a fresh install of Windows 7 with SP1 included, or is the latest already in SP1?

Answer:Latest version of DirectX already included in SP1?

You may want to do the update, but it would be to install some older DirectX components that Microsoft didn't include with Windows 7.

I suggest using the redist (redistributable) version, rather than the Web update. It's a moderately large download, though. I think that the latest version is June 2010.

Update for Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems won't install.

I have tried the FixIt tool on Microsoft and all the other suggestion on their site and I'm still not able to install. Also, my display driver times out and causes my computer to go to the blue screen and I think this may be due to the driver not being updated.

Okay so, I don't know if this matters but, I'm currently running my system in safe-mode with networking so it wont reboot on me.

So, a few days ago, in the middle of watching Red Riding Hood, my computer rebooted. Since then, it's gotten to the point where the computer reboots every few minutes, any time I log on and try to run anything, be it virus scans or whatever. And if I don't try to run anything, it will work for awhile then freeze up at which point I'll have to do a hard reboot. In safe mode, I've run both my virus programs, McAfee and Malwarebytes. Neither come up with any viruses. However, when I run CCleaner, it seems to come up with a couple of windows related issues, which it says it fixes but, it doesn't solve my issue.

So figuring windows got corrupted somehow, I wanted to reinstall. But BIOS doesn't recognize my dvd rom.

Once IN windows, it recognizes the dvd drive and installs it, but when I look at the device manager, it's installed ... Read more

hello,

Bitdefender Free has the same protection technologies that its paid version? The efficiency of the free version is same as the paid version?

Answer:The efficiency of the free version of Bitdefender Internet Security the same as the paid version?

I don't see why it wouldn't be, yes it has less features and is less configurable,
But you get the same award winning engine that powers the paid version.

Hello,Few days ago I run Lenovo software update utility. There was an update available for the dolby audio driver and I applied it. Since then every time I reboot the computer the dolby audio application fails to start (it is in the start up). The message displayed is "The current Dolby audio driver version is 7.2.8000.14 and the software application expects driver version 7.2.7000.7. Please install a valid driver and software application combination." There is no available download for the application in the support section of Lenovo's website. This problem caused some applications to stop working (e.g. Spotify reports an error with the sound card and fails to play music). Please, advice. Thank you.

Answer:does ASUS P7P55D motherbored last Bios version (Version 2003) stable?

It's probably a good thing that you are scared.

A BIOS generally should not be updated unless you are having issues and have a strong reason to believe that a BIOS update will resolve those issues.

Why do you want to update the BIOS?

going to buy full version soon but will do i need to unistall my trial version and download new kaspersky full version?

Answer:buying full kaspersky version, do i need to unistall trial version?

If you already have the trial version of the Kaspersky product you want to buy, you can leave it installed and enter the licence key to activate it, simple as that. However, if you buy an edition different than the one you have in trial, then you'll need to uninstall the trial edition and install the edition you'll buy.
