Yoga 2 Pro Connectivity Issues (Chrome Crash/Limited connection)

Question: Yoga 2 Pro Connectivity Issues (Chrome Crash/Limited connection)

My laptop is nearly three years old. Two days ago, I replaced a fan that had become worn down and was causing an irritating noise by opening the back of the computer and removing the old one. This worked without trouble, but afterwords, I began to observe a stutter in connection. Without warning, google chrome could freeze, and the connection would go from "Connected" to "Limited". Turning the on and off airplane mode resulted only in no connections being found, despite their obvious availibility on other devices. I was able to get a temporary fix out of disabling and enabling wireless networking through the control panel, but it would shortly start up again and otherwise requires a restart to fix. Is this a hardware issue? Something that I bumped while fixing the fan? Or does it need a new network adapter entirely?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Armadoodle
Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.I would recommend that you double check all the connections, make sure that nothing is loose or potentially disconnected.

Also, Try to download the WiFi and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hello,

I am not certain what is relevant information, but this is an acer R7-571 with Windows 8.1. Though I can find networks when out and about, say at Starbucks or something, I cannot connect to them. It comes back with the response that the "connection is limited". This happens at friends' houses as well, using their password to join the network it always says connection limited and then I cannot get on the web.

I have tried all of the fixes that I could find thus far, but have had no success. I know, this is vague, I don't recall what I was doing, but through searching you can find some "solutions" but unfortunately they have not worked for me.

Currently I am trying to access a VPN using CiscoAnyconnect and this does not work either, is this connected to my other issue? The failure with the VPN is that "The VPN connection failed due to unsuccessful domain name resolution".

Thanks for any help, Terry

Answer:acer R7 Connectivity Issues - limited connectivity

Welcome,
To use VPN you must be known by the server you are trying to reach. I've used VPN to connect from home to my work network. I needed the information from our IT department to reach our servers and they had to grant me access so that the domain would allow me to play.
Have you done any configuration to your network card as far as DNS servers or any of the other parameters available?
Keep us posted

Hey guys,

My computer has been acting so weird recently. We just purchased them at work this year. It is an Asus computer with Windows 8.1.

1) Limited Connectivity: The other computers in the office connect to the internet fine. My computer will work fine and then just drop it's connection. I have done ipconfig /release, etc. but it won't work. I literally have to restart my computer.

2) Freezing: My computer will just act slow out of no where. I only have Google Chrome and Quickbooks up at work. That's it.

I know this information probably sucks, but I hope it is enough for some help? I ran malwarebytes and it came up with nothing.

Looking forward to hearing your reply.

Answer:Limited Connectivity / Google Chrome won't load / Freezing

HI

I have to ask is this connection Wifi or LAN?

Have you checked for an update at ASUS for the WiFi/Ethernet driver and install that to test. Also do other PCs close to you work ok all of the time? If Wifi only thinking of my works free public wifi that will limited connection and loose connection when too many users online.

Have you run the PC in safe mode with networking to test its not a startup app like 3rd party security, as in firewall or antivirus/malware?

If Google Chrome will not load try IE out to test.

Also give this a go HERE

I'm trying to help diagnose a problem with a friend's computer, and it's a strange one indeed. I've dealt with a lot of funny stuff in my days, but this one tops the cake!

I'll start with the basic information I've got from him (I will ask for more, as I'm sure more will be needed)...

- Running XP
- No recent installs
- Has tried multiple restore points
- Works perfectly in safe mode
- normal boot doesn't register IP
- Removed/reinstalled NIC driver

I'm going to point him to some spyware removal programs, but what else could be the issue here? What other info should I have him get to help?

I know he'd greatly appreciate it, and I thank you all in advance!

Nick

That is the message that appeared as a bubble above my system tray this morning. I cannot access the internet and cannot access my network. This problem occurred soon after a Windows Update, but I doubt that it had anything to do with it because the internet worked after I updated, and I had not restarted the computer yet. For the weeks since I have had the computer, it has been working fine with automatic configuration. I have 3 other computers on the network that work fine. I have a HP Media PC Windows XP Pro Media Center edition AMD 3400+ 512 RAM SiS network card, and can provide more information if needed. All day today, I have disabled both firewalls, Norton and Windows, I have tried manually configuring my connection, which showed some results, as it said I was connected, but I still could not access the network nor the internet, I have contacted M$, HP, and my local ISP. I have searched for hours on Google, where I have read that this is a SP2 problem, but the thing is, the computer came with SP2 installed, and it worked fine with SP2. For a hobby, I run an Apache v 2.0.52 server on that computer, but I doubt that could have played a part. I NEED HELP.

Try unplugging the modem's power cord and ethernet cables for a few minutes, reboot the computer and plug them back in. This happens to me sometimes too but this usually fixes it for me.

After installing IE7, and on the next hard boot, I received the 'Active Desktop' failure screen and a pop up saying a script in IE7 had failed. Then my LAN connection reported 'limited connectivity' even though I can still access the Internet and have an IP address (169.524.xxx.xxx) and a submask of 255.255.0.0 plus an automatic private address. Anyone suggest how to 'repair' this? 'Repair' doesn't help!

Answer:LAN connection 'limited connectivity' with IE7

Well an hour later and things have resolved themselves without any further input on my part. My IP address has changed to 169.254.yyy.yyy with the submask to 255.255.255.0 and the address is assigned by DHCP.No explanation, just happened.

Which OS? You could have a BAD NIC? They do fail. If on board NIC that would need to be disabled and replaced with either Card or USB to LAN.

I am getting the "limited or no connectivity..." error when trying to connect (wirelessly) my Dell Inspiron 6400 with Windows XP SP3. I am using my home network that has not had problem for the past 1.5 years and no performance issues have been noticed with any of the other 5 machines that get internet from it. The same error is shown when I try to connect with an Ethernet cable, but all of the following tests were run without the ethernet cable plugged in (so that I could look up what to do on another machine).

So far, this is what I have tried to no avail

- rebooting the modem/router/computer

- the "repair" option (told me the following action could not be completed : renewing your IP address)

- ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew. ipconfig /release runs, but I am not sure how to interpret the output and ipconfig /renew runs for several minutes and then says no operation can be performed while there is media disconnected

- ipconfig -flushdns. No noticeable change.

- netsh winsock reset followed by a system restart. No noticeable change

Please help if there is something I have overlooked or another fix to try! I apologize if I have missed something already posted here, but I have spent a few hours looking and the above is all I found.

Hi,We have a Belkin 802.11g wireless network router that is connected to our main desktop pc and gives our laptops access to the internet. The last few days we have had a problem accessing the internet on the main pc. It says LAN connection 6 has limited or no connectivity and when I got in to repair this and renew the IP address it says it is unable to do so, please contact your network administrator. I have no idea what to do, can someone please help??We are still able to access internet on the laptop's through the wireless network connection. Thanks

Answer:LAN Connection - Limited or No Connectivity

<<< It says LAN connection 6 has limited or no connectivity >>>How many network adapters (Local Area Connections) are there? If you have only one and it numbered as "6", it would appear that Windows has been reinstalling the network adapter over and over again. Create a System Restore point, then go into Device Manager, uninstall the network adapter, reboot and let Windows "find new hardware" and install it. Then see if it gets its correct IP address from the router.

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

If successful with the unsecured by not with secured, what kind of encryption is used?

Hi I have 2 laptops at home that i am trying to connect to an Xfinity Broadband ethernet connection. The newer laptops connection to broadband was set up by the cable installer. However I also need my Compaq tc4200 running on Windows xp to connect to the internet as well. So I plugged the ethernet cable into the tc4200 but I keep running into a yellow triangle accompanied by the statement "this connection has limited or no connection" when i try to diagnose it says it cannot find the IP adress when i try to repair the connection it then states it cant repair the problem because "network is not assigning a network address". Someone please help. I'm so confused. When i plug the cord into the other laptop it works just fine so its not the cord or modem. Please help thanks in advance!!

I'm able to connect to the internet, but after 5-20 minutes, I get a "limited connectivity" message and am unable to connect to the internet. The dynex adapter is compatible with vista, could it be a problem of compatibility between the router and adapter? If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. And please try to be as straight-forward as possible, I'm not too savvy with computer terms. Thanks.

The problem of "limited connectivity" or "local" has absolutely plagued every computer in this household. I'm going through it right now - this is only one of many laptops up and running. I have found many reasons for this over the last few months. Just about every time I have found the answer in the Event Viewer. Check it out.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've logged in for some guidance but I regularly stop by to see what advice I can get w/whatever issues I'm having at the time. That said, I've not been able to resolve this issue and done all but given up on this conundrum. So here goes...

I'm currently dealing w/a limited connectivity problem on an HP Pavilion dv6605us Entertainment Notebook loaded w/Vista 32 bit. Lan controller is an NVIDIA nForce 10/100Mbps and the wireless is a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN. At one point in time I was able to get it to work normally but that was the only short-lived success I've had so far.

I have tried the following:
-reset my wireless router.

-messed w/my router settings (i.e. channel, security, etc.).

-disabled firewall during the process (re-enabled after I got no where).

-used "Repair" option after I went through "Diagnose".

-updated the device driver for both the lan and wireless controllers (but according to Vista only the wireless driver had an update).

-uninstalled/reinstalled the lan and wireless controllers then updated the drivers. (NOTE: This is where I saw my limited success only to be scuttled away by a notebook battery that died in less than 5 minutes b/c it wasn't plugged in and most likely needs to be replaced).

-ipconfig/release.../flushdns.../renew method. Ran sfc/scannow afterward and found no violations.

-installed/uninstalled the Reliable Multicast Protoco... Read more

Greetings, zlaser84...

Looks as if you've performed the normal troubleshooting steps that most would have recommended - impressive...

Any difference in symptoms if you connect the machine directly to the modem / router? Apologies if this was mentioned in your steps, but I couldn't see if you actually hard-wired or not...

Also, in cases such as this, I occasionally use a 3rd-party USB wireless adapter as a troubleshooting aid - something like this. You might consider picking up one, see if your symptoms change - if so, this will give more troubleshooting info. An added plus is that I guarantee that adapter will pay for itself, if not now then in the future.

Hi,

I have been experiencing limited wifi connection issues to my network from my laptop, even when I tried safe mode with networking.
To clarify, I have two laptops. One, an HP pavilion running Windows 7, which I am able to connect to my network from with no issues, so it isn’t the router. The other is an Acer Aspire V3-7772G, which runs Windows 8.1 which is only 4 months old which originally I had no problem connecting to the internet wirelessly to begin with. I can’t fathom whether I have a faulty network card, despite the laptop being relatively new. Normally I check it with safe mode to identify if it’s a faulty driver first or not; but that was after I went through all the troubleshooting methods available as follows:
Checked that airplane mode was turned off and wireless communication was turned on.
Made sure the network adapter was enabled
Checked powersaving plan, ensuring maximum performance for ‘On battery’ and ‘Plugged in’ under balanced plan
Ran troubleshooting, resetting network adapter
Ran network troubleshooter, clicking identify and repair network problems.
Ran Avast and Malwarebytes Anti-malware, both premium versions, and no malware or viruses were affecting my laptop.
Updated my network drivers:
My network driver is Qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222 and the current driver that was installed was version 10.0.0.264 for my Acer Aspire V3-772G. So I updated the driver finding one which was version 10.0.0.276 for my lap... Read more

Answer:Limited connectivity on wireless connection

Top suspect here is a mismatched encryption key or MAC filtering blocking the new laptop.

Disable ALL wireless security on the router, remove ALL stored wireless network profiles from the machine, and then try to connect again. If you're successful, then you can enable encryption on the router again.

My problem is that my laptop(Toshiba satellite A15-S129) running windows xp home will only let me surf the web when my external hard drive (Acom data 120GB) is turned on. This wouldn't be a big deal if this was a desktop computer, but i need to be able to surf without the hard drive connected. I noticed the problem a short time after I installed SP2 but not
sure if it is the cause, most likely the external hard drive was connected when I installed SP2. I've tried a restore point to before i had SP2 installed it didn't help. I tried just removing SP2 that also didn't work, then tried reinstalling it with no luck.

This isn't the only problem whenever I try browsing some of my files in explorer it crashes or if I open Microsoft word it eventually crashes too.

What info do you need to help me out?

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

It is sending packets just fine but it seems to be receiving a few if any at all

it is hard connected straight to our router, just like my computer and my computer is having no issues at all connecting to the internet

for starters i unplugged everything and reset everything and plugged it all back in still no luck

then i grabbed my old wireless adapter and plugged it in and enabled it and it picks up full signal with a good connection but still says "Limited or no connectivity"

Then i made sure my IP and DNS were set to be obtained automatically still no luck

reset my tcp/ip stack to installation defaults with "Netsh int ip reset reset.log"
reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults with "Netsh winsock reset catalog"
flushed my DNS cache with "Ipconfig /flushdns"

and still im getting the same issue and i have completely run out of ideas any help would be appreciated

Hi,I have a broadband modem which is connected to a wireless Belkin pre-n router. I have my brothers PC & my own PC hard wired to the router by ethernet cable & i have a laptop that connects wirelessly. This home network has been working fine for a few years BUT around a week ago i started to get a "limited or no connectivity" msg on boot up on my pc. I couldn't link to the network or internet.I tried switching all the linked machines off and booting them up one by one (in this order: Modem-router-brothers PC-My PC) but this made no difference. My brothers connection remains fine. He can use the internet. I can also connect wirelessly with my laptop. This issue only seems to be affecting my PC.In order to get the connection to work on a one off occasion, i would have to boot up the PC (and have the "no connection" msg appear) then swicth off the PC, switch the power supply off completely from the plug & take out the ethernet cable. I would then switch on the power supply & boot up the PC. Once windows XP was fully booted, i then insert the ethernet cable & my connection is restored and i can use the internet. BUT when i switch the PC off again and reboot, the connection goes again.I have tried to assign a static ip address (192.168.2.2 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0). This seemed to remove the error but my internet would not work.Furthermore, when the connection messages would appear, when i tried to open the network adapter properties, the properties window would freeze & not re... Hi helpful people!Yesterday my Laptop was working well and had a broadband connection.Today, I do not have a connection. I get the message, "This connection has limited or no connectivity. You might not be able to access the Internet of some network resources. For information click this message"(I did this) and had the following message:-"You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. The problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer."(I then went to select Repair and had the following message:-)"Renewing your IP address. Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed.Renewing your IP address. For assistance, contact the person who manages your network."Needless to say, I still do not have a connection. Do I have to contact my ISP or is there an easier way? Many thanks in advance.

HiIt sounds like your DCHP on your router/gateway is not working as it should be and not giving out addresses. If you have not already log on to the router/gateway and check the DCHP is running.A more heavy handed approach but normally works is to turn the router off for a minute or so, then turn it back on, most routers have DCHP enabled by default and this should start giving the address out again.Hope it helpsThanks

Hi

Hope you can help.

I'm on holiday and booked a villa which had complimentary WIFI. I'm able to connect to the unsecured public network. The signal strength is good and I know I'm connected as the duration of time keeps increasing.

However when I try and access the internet I get the message that I have Limited Connectivity. I run the diagnostic tool and am told there is an issue with the IP address.

Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this as I desperately need my laptop so I can work whilst on holiday.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Bebh xx

Answer:Limited Connectivity on Wifi connection

You may need to remove wireless profiles (see below) and reconnect to the secure network - it will also mean at home when you return you will need to re-enter your wireless security key

would you post back an ipconfig /all

I assume the villa complimentary WIFI is secure - have you entered the correct KEY - and do you know the type of security used ?

If possible download and install and run this xirrus program - and tell us the Name of the villa wireless
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{ipconfig /all}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here
-> Start
-> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all
-> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all

A black box will appear on the screen -
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy

then reply here and
control key + V to paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

HI, this is my dilemma, My laptop is M5030 Dell, 64 bit operating windows 7. Am trying to connect to the internet, keep getting a limited connectivity error. Ive install new window updates on the 5th and the 8th of this month. Ever since I installed those specific driver updates (I do not recall which updates I installed) am not able to connect to the internet, via wireless nor Ethernet. Ive tried to use System restore points, every time I try to restore prior or before the 5th, I end up getting a error, saying the system restore points can't be found etc, Ive done some researching to see if I can find a solution to the problem, but yet nothing. Am sure the router, is not the problem, am able to connect via wireless, thru my phone, other laptop, tablet. Am sure the issue revolves around the updates I install,
I open up cmd, I type ipconfig, the results that I get:
Windows Up configuration
Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:
Media State ............: Media diconnected
Connection-specific Dns Suffix , :
is there any solution to this issue that am encountering?
Much appreciated for the help.
-Thanks Rock.

Based on the data you have provided you have no network cards installed. How was your laptop connected with the ipconfig results (wired or wireless)? Check device manager (devmgmt.msc) for installed network adapters.

Recently I replaced the motherboard in my aunts desktop. After loading Windows 7 Home 64 Bit and installing all the drivers, I attempted to connect to the internet via wireless adapter. I tried 2 seperate adapters and both adapters give me the same errors. Limited Connectivity.

I have been attempting to resolve this now for well over 3 hours. I have tried just about everything I know how to do and everything I could research and find via the internet.

I need some help here. I am posting an ipconfig /all, I hope you all will be able to assist me in this matter.

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Thanks for the ipconfig/all output, there's no sign of Wi-Fi adapter present. Can you verify from the Device Manager if the Wi-Fi adapter is present or not? Make sure to expand Network Adapters.
Windows 7 Device Manager - How to Access Device Manager From the Command Prompt in Windows 7

Also, if you are not using a 3rd party wireless utility verify that the WLAN Auto Config Service is Started along with the all Dependencies Services. Click on the Start button and from Search programs and files type 'Services', then hit Enter and locate WLAN Auto Config service.

Ok. So, basically. I found out my onboard ethernet port was fried, so i went out an bought a RTL8139D ethernet PCI adapter. I fitted the adapter and plugged my cable in. It said Limited or no connectivity. After hours and hours of googling I tried everything. I changed the protocols, created static Ip's went into cmd and reset winsock catalogs, release/renew etc. EVERYTHING....
The cable I am using worked previously in my room and it still works. (I took a laptop up to my room and plugged in the cable and had internet connection). So... I took my PC downstairs and used a different cable. This successfully connected me to the internet. That Rules out that my new ethernet card is the problem. MY cable also allows others to connect to the internet. Please help me.
* Sorry forgot to mention OS: Windows 7 64X Ultimate edition.

Answer:Wired connection Limited or No connectivity

so the Desktop connected to cable A upstairs - does not work - but a laptop works OK
and the laptop on cable B downstairs works ok and so does the desktop

sounds like something strange on the cable
try doing a powercycle and then use the desktop on cable A again
post an ipconfig /all from cable A and also from cable B when working - make sure we know which is which on the posts

------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to power cycle

“power cycle” process to reboot or reset the modem/router

Switch off all the devices modem, router and computers also unplug their power cables.
Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cords back in, but don’t switch them on.
First turn on the modem and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Next switch on the router (if a seperate device ) and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Now turn on your computer, You should now be able to access the Internet.

I lost internet connection on my desktop PC (Gateway GT5242E), which normally connected through a wired connection to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station router. I have attempted to access the router and it no longer can be detected by my computer. Seeing this, I tried a direct connection directly to my modem, and it still does not connect. In my network options the LAN connection says it cannot renew my IP Adress.

Any help on what to do from here would be greatly appreciated.

hello SevenForumers, i am new to this but it was recommended to me. i am currently on a desktop, because my laptop has an issue, whenever connecting to a network it works for a short while then it stops, i am still connected to the network but with no internet. it says i have "limited or no connectivity". i have done a system restore, i have deleted my networks, i have copied my internet settings from this desktop (IP, DNS, default gateway etc...) and nothing seems to work, it may be due to the fact that i recently tried to set up a static ip address, and that didn't work, but i swear i put it back, i set to detect IP automatically and same with DNS, and not working. like i said i get connection for about half a minute then it dies on me every time. is there anyway i can reset the networks EVERYTHING to default factory settings or whatever? i NEED the internet on this computer, thanks everyone so much!

Quick update---------------------
I Just did a reboot and i followed these steps
msconfig
services
hide all microsoft services
deselect all
reboot
this SHOULD have helped me isolate the problem right? looked great for 10 minutes, then it happened again... WHAT could it BE??? this is starting to really bug me, please help!

Got a wired router connected to virgin cable, keeps disconnecting me every single day, I have 2 pcs linked up to this and everyday when my flatemate tries to connect on the pc which is linked up to the modem theres either just no connection or shes getting a message from the connection saying limited or no connectivity, why is this? I was using Static IP and someone on here told me to change it to Dynamic IP and that should solve it, I've done that and still its not helped. When I first set this router up we were only for a week fine but recently its knocking us off everyday nearly. Anyone know what it could be?Thanks.

Answer:Wired connection and limited or no connectivity

While you are connected and online, what is your IP address?Go to "Control Panel > Network Connections", highlight the Local Area Connection and look at the very bottom of the left (Network Tasks) pane, where the IP address will be shown. It should be a 192.168.x.x or a 10.x.x.x address, but if it is the IP address allocated by the ISP then you have the router connected wrongly - you have connected one of the router's LAN (Local Area Network) ports to the Cable Modem instead of its WAN (Wide Area Network or "Internet") port.

Hey guys,

Just recently, a small lan I have going between my room and my sister's room (thru a switch) seems to be messed up. When you turn the computers on the little icon in the task bar is searching for other computers on the network. When you open the little icon up to see what it's doing, it's sending packets (10-15) and it gets none back and you get the little bubble that says there is limited or no connectivity. While it is doing these tests when I start up, I cannot access the other computer, but after it's done and I get the message it seems to work fine. I can go to my network places and play a Lan game of tiger woods 2005. What bothers me is when I want to use snes9x over lan the network button seems to be disabled (on either computer) because of this 'limited or no connectivity' error. Does anyone know whats going on? Right now there is no internet connection being shared and no firewalls (except windows SP2)

Help is appreciated,
-Matt

Before I begin, I'd like to note that I'm not incredibly experienced when it comes to computers, and the information I give you may not be thorough enough. If that is the case, please ask for any extra necessary information and how to get it, if you'd so please. Thanks.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 December 19th of last year, with Windows 7 Home Premium. I didn't get an opportunity to use the internet on it until after Christmas, I connected wirelessly to a linksys router with no problems. After using it for a few hours, I was disconnected and the router would not appear on my search. I then hardwired my computer with an ethernet cable to get it to work, with no problems. I then stayed a week at a resort, in which I could select connections but I'd only get limited connectivity on every one. Once again, I was able to hardwire it.

I'm back at school and I'm still unable to get a connection without limited connectivity. I've tried several different places to try to connect, all giving me limited connectivity.

I'm not sure how I successfully used wireless for a few hours then for it to stop working altogether, but I'm in desperate need for it to be fixed.

Thanks for your time everyone and as I said, if you need more info, please ask.

I'm running Vista Home Premium SP2 (all the latest updates and drivers) x64 on a 2.2ghz amd dual core with 4 gb RAM. Recently I had a power surge hit my home and kill my built-in ethernet adapter (I have everything plugged into surge protectors ... EXCEPT the cable that runs to my cable modem, which was also fried). To my knowledge the nic in my laptop is solder to the motherboard, so replacing it would very costly. I decided to purchase an ASIX AX88772 Fast USB 2.0 to Ethernet Adapter. It works perfectly for 24-48 hours (my laptop is running 24/7). However, this is where the problem starts...

Seemingly randomly I will see that my network icon is now showing limited connectivity (even though my usb adapter is still flashing send/rec and my cable modem still has the PC light on ... however the cable modem is no longer flashing the send/rec leds). When I try to repair the connection it always fails. If I try to disable then enable the connection explorer.exe (process that manages network and sharing center) crashes (not responding and has to be killed and then rerun) even if I try this on a different connection (ie my old built in nic, or my wifi). Also, once this happens I am no longer able to connect to ANY networks (via wifi), windows will not locate ANY available wifi networks to connect to (even though there are over 8 in my area). Another baffling symptom is that if I try to shut down/restart/Log off it sits at the restart/shut down/log off screen and never actually com... Read more

Ok, first of all I know I can call AT&T to walk me thru this one, BUT! I've been on hold too long, my cell battery has died on me, etc, etc, and there comes a time when we get frustrated and give that method a rest! Since I've had such awesome luck from all the suggestions & tips I get on this site, I figured I'd try posting while I let off steam with some housecleaning

Basically, these are the facts of my issue.......
- I switched from Comcast to AT&T, stated I have 2 laptops (1 wired, 1 wireless). I recv'd my modem/router with 4 ethernet ports and wireless capability, and set it up in my bedroom cus that's where I work.
- I initiated the setup with my business laptop (in my room) via ethernet, and it "connects fine".
- I then set up the wireless laptop (while in my room) then took it back to the living room where it belongs, and it "picks up signal plus connects fine".
- However... I have a desktop in the living room which I tried to connect via one of those long ethernet cables, but I only get "Limited Connectivity". But just for the record, when I had Comcast service, this desktop was working swell and in fact has always been "my favorite pc" cus it never has issues!! Inclusively, the long ethernet cable was the one I used to connect from the Comcast router in the living room all the way to my business laptop in the bedroom, and I recv'd excellent connectivity! But for some reason, it doe... Read more

I am having an issue connectivity of internet over the local area network from vista laptop to my desktop.
This is my configuration:

HP Laptop with vista ultimate SP1 (custom install as the system was shipped with XP)

Custom build desktop with Ubantu 9.04 and vista Ultimate SP1.

I connect to internet via Maxom BP3-EXT Telstra modem. The modem is connected to the Laptop, so internet sharing is done via laptop to my desktop via a cross-over cable.

Till yesterday everything was smooth and running perfect. I could access internet on both ubantu as well as vista from my desktop.

Hi -

I have a Dell Latitude D410. My roommate and I have a D-link router (we have a secured network, using a WEP key) that has worked great for the past few years. I turned my computer on the other day and I can't connect anymore. It says that there's an excellent signal but I get the "limited or no connectivity" error message.

I have unplugged/let sit/plugged in the modem and the router a few times and turned my computer on and off as well (this problem started 5 days ago). I'm on my roommate's computer now (her's is just fine) and checked to make sure all of our settings were the same (they are).

My TCP/IP connection currently obtains IP and DNS addresses automatically. I tried setting it using specific IP and DNS addresses and the internet said it was connected (w/excellent strength and no longer limited connectivity) but I still couldn't access the internet.

Yesterday, I connected fine using an ethernet cord (although google came up in Spanish? That must be a different problem..), but today I tried to connect w/the cord again and received the error message that my IP address could not be renewed.

Also, I brought my computer to school and everything works perfectly...seems to be a problem between my computer and my network, not anything else.

I'm out of ideas to try and fix this Any suggestions? Thanks for your help and time!

Hi there
I am having a rather unprecedented problem with my internet connectivity.

To start, some basic information about my computer:
Running windows 7 Home Premium service pack 1
Acer Aspire X3470 (Desktop Computer)
Linksys Wireless-G 802.11 USB wireless adapter

Our home network has another desktop connected to the router through a hardline connection, another laptop connected through wireless, and 2 handheld devices also connected wirelessly. none of these devices have had connection issues.
Recently, we have had an IT tech come in and replace the router with a new one, as well as change the
wireless broadcast channel to fix a previous connection issue. (the one involving my computer persisted before the new router, and the channel change up until now)

So, what is happening here is a little beyond my comprehension. I have had a decent amount of experience
with troubleshooting, especially network troubleshooting. in the past, there has not been a lot of problems I haven't been able to fix myself or through research, however i have not seen this ever occur before.

The USB adapter connected fine to the wireless network at my previous house, however since I've been here, the adapter will connect perfectly fine, and display a full internet access message. My browser will load up one or two web pages perfectly, and within about 30 seconds of actually using the internet connection, the browser will stall, taking 10 minutes or more to load a web page, if at all.

Hi 2 everyone!
I've been having some trouble to browse rightly in th e web since I've changed my OS from XP SP3 to Vista Ultimate. The problem is I can't browse on the web or connect to hotmail messenger when I open bitcomet software. Bitcomet works correctly but I can only browse again on the web and use the messenger, after I close Bitcomet.
I connect to my internet DSL router tru cable. I see in the Local Area Connection Status windows a IPv6 limited connectivity. I used to obtain IP address automatically but since I had these problems I've changes to the static method. I also opened the listening bitcomet port in my router. But I still have the same problem of not being able to use fully the internet.
Thanks for your attention. and greetz....

When I start up my pc I can see a little icon that looks like a couple of monitors in my system tray. & when I roll the mouse over it the icon says "Local Area Connection>>>Limited Or No Connectivity".

Now keep in mind I just got my internet for the first time. I never even had this icon appear in my system tray, until I got my internet and found out that I had to enable the network interface on my motherboard through the bios. That is when I started seeing this icon. Although before I actually hooked up the ethernet cable the icon had an "X", saying that a cable was unplugged. I obviously know what that means. Though when I hooked up the ethernet cable and plugged it in the back, the icon started saying "Local Area Connection>>>Limited Or No Connectivity".

I can use the internet using the shorcut I have on my desktop for the broadband network connection I made manually with the help of my internet company customer service rep over the phone. Although now when I do and at all times I see two of those monitor icons in my sys tray. One has an exclamation mark that says "Local Area Connection>>>Limited Or No Connectivity", and the other is the network internet connection I have working fine.

The rep from my internet company said he could'nt help me anymore because he said this is an o/s issue. How do I correct this problem and take this away from my sys tray? He claimed that this is a common iss... Read more

Hi guys, hoping someone can help here.
I have a PC running vista and a ps3 wired to my netopia router, which both work no problem. I just installed a wireless pci card on another PC, also running vista and I just cannot get it to work. It picks up the network, and the signal strength is excellent, but it just says I have 'limited connectivity'. I've tried turning off encryption on the router, and re-installing the drivers for the wireless card. I'm just hoping someone here might have some idea as to what to do next.

I recently bought a new motherboard (ASUS Striker II formula 780i), set it all up and it worked perfectly. Installed windows onto a new hard drive and started again. The internet was working fine on a wired connection at first. i turned the pc off and when i booted it back up i kept receiving the "limited or no connectivity" warning on my connection. From this point onwards my pc will not connect to the internet via a wired connection but works fine on wireless.

Here are the details

my connection sends packets but cannot receive packets,
I am getting a private IP address 169.***.**.**
The ethernet cable is not faulty as it worked on my other pc
The ethernet ports themselves are fine (tested cable with a pci adapter port and same problem)
I have downloaded Winsockfix software and there has been no difference
I tried to reinstall the TCP/IP yet still not connection
I have tried a static and "obtain ip address automatically"
i have tried ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew ipconfig/flushdns
i have even reinstalled windows

Here are my ipconfig/all details (the realtek adapter is where the Ethernet cable is currently connected and is displaying the limited or no connectivity warning.

Since getting my Acer switch 10 i have suffered limited connectivity issues on the device, this then states there are no access points available and then will not resolve itself until i restart the device. This happens on different routers and ISP's and i have updated the drivers from Acer suppport site with no avail. the issues happens about one a week to fortnightly and i have tried several reinstalls but nothing changes.

Answer:My internet connection states limited connectivity...

i think it can be a wifi antenna problem, since you already updated your drivers.Have you tried a factory reset too? if so, it's better to contact the Acer support service if still under warranty.

OK, I've been searching for hours and hours trying to find a solution to this problem. Usually I like to fix everything on my own and I only post in forums for help as a last resort.

Well let me get down to the issue.

Last week I powered down my desktop as we were getting ready to go out of town for Thanksgiving. We returned last night and when I powered my pc back up, I had a problem coming up in my taskbar, "Local Area Connection, Limited or no connectivity". I have never had this happen before and I have not recently made any upgrades or upgraded to SP3 (I did upgrade to SP3 when it came out but that was a long time ago). Anyway, My desktop also has a wireless pci card attached and that seems to work fine so I am eliminating my router/home network as the problem.

A bit of background, I have my desktop here, plugged directly into my router, a Netgear 614v5. I am entirely sure this is an issue with my desktop as I also have 2 laptops that are connected to the router over wireless and they are working just fine. I also have an old dell I converted to a game server that is connected to the router via ethernet, and it also has no issues.

I can ping my NIC at 127.0.0.1 so I believe that the card is functioning properly. I believe I actually have a DHCP problem. I don't really know much about DHCP at all so please bear with me.

I just ran NETSH DIAG GUI from command prompt and here's my results: (Note that I'm only showing my network adapters)

My mother purchased and had me install a VoIP system last month, due to her frequent overseas calls. After the installation of the VoIP system, numerous internet problems have arisen. 1. Answer:Local Area Connection - Limited or no connectivity

There appears to be something that isn't set up correctly.Your "Wireless Network Connection" has got your *PUBLIC* IP address - the address allocated by the ISP which should go to the router as its WAN (Wide Area Network or "Internet") address. The Router should then have allocated an IP address to the Wireless Network Connection using one of the ranges reserved for use in Local Area Networks, most commonly a 192.168.x.x address. It isn't clear what your Local Area Connection (your "wired" ethernet connection) is actually connected to, but it is configured to get its IP address automatically and cannot access a DHCP server from which to get it. Therefore Windows has defaulted to allocating a "169.254" address, which will give the Limited or No Connectivity indication; it won't connect to the router or have internet access with that address.

Hi hope someone can help please.Switched my pc on last nightand I couldn't connect to the internet, opened my network connections and the the message above appeared.Telephoned NTL tech services and they done a test with my ip address it it came up ok, they said it was a problem with my network card.I'm curretly running xp home with sp2. I've had this problem before and I corrected it. The reason I had this problem before was I upgraded to SP2 from SP1. I rectified this be rolling back to SP1. Since then I had another problem with my PC and had to do a fresh install, the disc I used came complete with SP2.I've done a system restore but no luck with this.

Answer:Local Area Connection - Limited or no connectivity

You need a "patch"... Your ISP normally has it... Just go to their member's area and search for something like "WinXP SP2 Patch" and download and install the patch. You will need to restart your system for it to take effect.

Usually I would be connected through my linksys WRT54GS router but now i'm having trouble doing that so I unplugged everything from the router and connected my laptop directly to the modem. But I still get that limited connectivity for the lan or high speed internet. I managed to create a new connection but everytime I want to browse I need to sign on which I'm trying to avoid. Everything else is fine because I can still download and use aim but that's only if I signed onto the new connection I made. I called SBC and they are saying that it's a problem on my part but nothing has changed other than me upgrading for a faster speed. They say that everything should be fine since all the lights on the speedstream 5100a are what they are suppose to be. Maybe someone here can tell me what to do or at least lead me to the right direction. All I'm looking for it to be able to use my router to browse websites and download things once again without having to sign onto some stupid crap. Hopefully I made everything clear.

SOLVED. The problem was the expired Norton. Thanks.

My laptop can't seem to connect to the internet via dialup or highspeed.

We bought a new Toshiba laptop with a Vista OS just a few months ago to replace our ?-year old desktop. At that time, we were using a dialup internet service. We had Netzero's software installed on both the desktop and the new laptop, and the internet (though slow) worked just fine for both.

Two or so months later, the laptop stopped connecting to the internet. The Networking and Sharing Center showed a Limited Connectivity. We didn't bother trying to correct the problem, and ended up plugging the phone cable back into the desktop. Now we have a high speed service by Telus. We should be able to connect multiple computers to the internet wirelessly; But again, i have the Limited Connectivity problem with the laptop.

The laptop is able to detect my SSID. The signal strength is excellent. Password works, but i get the message: "Connecting to the network is taking longer than usual." After that, the icon in the system tray shows "Access: Local Only" or "Limited Connectivity".

This is what i'm getting from ipconfig /all:

It tells me I am connected to an unidentified network, followed by the networks name in brackets, but only with limited connectivity and thus no access. I've tried everything I can think of to try, with no results.

For reference, my network properties are currently as follows:

Security type: No authentication (open)
Encryption type: WEP

Hi there, I have a 64-bit Vista OS, HP pavillion Elite m9350f PC. I've had this computer for almost a year now, and I haven't really had any problems with it. until now.

My problem, as the title states, is a common one...or maybe not. A couple days ago I was fully connected to the internet without any problems. Then, just they other day I find that I am unable to connect to the internet, and I see the "Unidentified Network, Limited Connectivity" status. The weird thing is, this problems is only affecting my wired connection. Everything works just fine when I connect using the PC's built in wireless, so this problem is only affective my LAN connection it seems.

Nothing I have tried thus far has worked, any suggestions? Is it possible that I may need to get my LAN adapter (or whatever it may be called) replaced? My Vista Laptop has no problems whatsoever connecting to the internet, and I've tested the cables and their all working fine. I've also tried connecting directly to the modem, but still no success.

I read that uninstalling and re-installing the driver might work, but I've never done anything like this before, so I'm a bit hesitant. Is it really safe to do that? If i uninstall it, will I be able to re-install the driver without having to use a CD or anything like that?

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I have a broadband modem which is connected to a wireless Belkin pre-n router. I have my brothers PC & my own PC hard wired to the router by ethernet cable & i have a laptop that connects wirelessly.

This home network has been working fine for a few years BUT around a week ago i started to get a "limited or no connectivity" msg on boot up on my pc. I couldn't link to the network or internet.
I tried switching all the linked machines off and booting them up one by one (in this order: Modem-router-brothers PC-My PC) but this made no difference.
My brothers connection remains fine. He can use the internet. I can also connect wirelessly with my laptop. This issue only seems to be affecting my PC.
In order to get the connection to work on a one off occasion, i would have to boot up the PC (and have the "no connection" msg appear) then swicth off the PC, switch the power supply off completely from the plug & take out the ethernet cable. I would then switch on the power supply & boot up the PC. Once windows XP was fully booted, i then insert the ethernet cable & my connection is restored and i can use the internet. BUT when i switch the PC off again and reboot, the connection goes again.

I have tried to assign a static ip address (192.168.2.2 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0). This seemed to remove the error but my internet would not work.
Furthermore, when the connection messages would appear, when i tried to open the network adapter ... Read more

I have an ethernet connection using a realtek network card which all tests say is working okay.
I am trying to setup a direct connection to a laptop.
The LAN status says "Limited Connectivity" and I cannot see the other computer in network places.
Using the repair IP address from the status window does not work.
When I look in Administrative Tools/System/Event Viewer ..

I get the message
"Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 00400554B0F3. The IP address being used is 169.254.75.253."
I have read through this forum and tried various things like ipconfig renew/refresh from the CMD line; and the 'netsh winsock reset catalog' suggestion.
I have tried turning off firewalls, and checked that automatic assign IP addresses is correct in the connection settings.

It seems as if 'something' is setting an IP address (as above) .. but I cannot find it ..
Any help would be much appreciated ..
thx, Della

what do you mean "direct connection"? if you want to connect your computer with another, your best bet is a router.

Hi all,

I recently got a new laptop (Sony Vaio) and have had no problems up until logging onto the internet. The router is in my room so it has full strength, but there have been two problems. First, when I start my computer up, it won't let me connect wirelessly to the router, even though it is displayed with full strength on the "available networks" screen. So i then have to connect it via ethernet and then unplug the ethernet, which then allows it to connect wireless. Then, after 1-3 minutes, the connection drops to "limited connectivity" and a yellow triangle appears over the connection icon in the bottom right. So I am forced to have it connected with the ethernet at all times.

I am on Vista Home, and have previously had no other problems with the router on my old laptop which was also Vista.

Here is the /ipconfig screen with it connected with the ethernet

All of a sudden my wireless network is not working!

PC is a Dell 4500 running windows XP with a Microsoft MN-700 router. First laptop is an Apple Ibook G-4 using an internal airport wireless card. 2nd laptop is a Compaq using a Linksys wireless g adapter. Both laptops are showing connection to MSHOME network although that is not the preferred network. I don't have any idea where that MSHOME network came from; it never showed up before.

When you click on the IE icon on the Apple the message is can't find server. Yet the status bar shows I have a wireless connection.

When you click on the IE icon on the Compaq the message is Connection has limited or no connectivity; can't find server. Yet the network icon is showing in the Taskbar and it has excellent strength. I tried the Repair function, but the message returned is that is cannot finish repairing because it can't renew the IP address.

From the router side, I can't seem to access the Managment Tool on the Microsoft Broadband Utility to check on the status. I have tried from the program link, the taskbar and putting in the http address, but nothing connects to the Managment Tool--only the Refresh function is available and that hasn't helped; I have reset and turned off and unplugged many times to no avail.

The router IP address is now showing as a public network; different from the IP I have on file. The laptop IP numbers are now different from the PC and from each other.

Hello,
I have an Acer 5520G I bought 2 months ago and friday I started having problems with the internet. We use a Telefónica router and me and my mom used to use the connection pretty well. On friday I was playing at battle.net and while 'alt-tabbing' to go to some websites, I noticed my Firefox didn't want to load the pages.
I stuck from 19h to 1h trying to fix it. I thought it was a driver incompatibility because Windows Update was running [ I have Vista Home Premium ]. I tried Windows' diagnostic and repair a lot of times [it said I couldn't connect to the main DNS server ]. I also tried restoring the Windows for 2 days ago [ from 6 of june to 4 of june ]. And still the internet was not working good. When I turned my pc on, the MSN Messenger logged in and I could chat. But the websites, the mIRC and the battle.net were impossible to enter.
I installed the Broadcom 802.1b/g most recent drivers from Acer Europe website and still didn't work.
The most radical thing I did [ on the saturday morning, after waking up ] was to restore with the Acer eRecovering Management tool to the day I bought the Notebook. Still didn't work.
The internet is intermitent and I now I can enter some websites [ almost just one per time. ] and I can log into MSN Messenger but I can't talk, my friends don't receive the messages and neither do I.
Some hours ago I downloaded the Vista Service Pack 1 in my mother's notebook and transferred to me wi... Read more

Answer:Solved: Wireless Connection - Limited Connectivity - Vista

The ipconfig /all in Spanish is not much of a problem, except I cannot find the difference between the two you posted.

Unplug the modem and router and shut down all computers. Plug in modem; then plug in router; then boot your PC and please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following commands:

ping 206.190.60.37

ping yahoo.com

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I haven't been using any wired connection for quite long time. Today I had to use a wired connection on my PC which used to work before normally but now it started showing the "Limited or no connectivity" message.

I've tired the wired connection on my Laptop and that failed as well. all wireless connections work perfectly.

Wired connections is being made directly from my PC/Laptop to the router.

Router is (Linksys WAG160N)

- I am getting a private IP address 169.***.**.**
- The ethernet cable is not faulty as I tried 3 different brand new cables.
- The ethernet ports themselves are fine (2 NIC cards on my PC, and one on my laptop) all gave same result.
- Router ports are not faulted as the port LED is green and also I've tried different ports on the router with same result.
- DHCP is Enabled on the Router
- TCP/IPv4 & TCP/IPv6 are both set to obtain IP automatically

I've tired with failure the following steps after I looked up my issue on the Internet:
- Windows repair
- Windows safe mode to eliminate firewall
- Rebooting both PC and Router
- Uninstall and Reinstall of NIC card driver
- IP release/renew/flushdns
- Reset TCP/IP Stack: netsh int ip reset reset.log
- Reset WINSOCK entries: netsh winsock reset catalog
The output of "ipconfig /all"

Evening folks!

I've had a look around at similar posts with my problem but to no avail.. I can connect to the internet using my ethernet cable but when I try to connect wirelessly it says limited connectivity. A friend suggested I download 'winsockxpfix' and I tried that but again to no avail. I've tried the suggestions on windows support and the usual disconnect, delete & try to reconnect but I guess that's quite a primitive approach Any suggestions?

All the best,
Dave

Hi there, i have a Dell Laptop and recently the graphics card was changed. Since the graphics card was changed, im having problems connecting to my netgear wireless router. It says - limited or no connectivity, even though it says connected.

In the end i connected via ethernet cable which works fine. I dialled into the configuration of the router and changed the WEP Key and when i removed the ethernet cable it seems to work fine, but when i restart my Laptop i have to go through the procedure of changing my WEP again via the configuration of the router.

Have you any ideas to why i have to re-configure the WEP key everytime i re-start my Laptop
Also
I've managed to connect to a neigbours wireless, Which has no security Key!
Thanks

Answer:Limited or no connectivity on my wireless Netgear WGR614 connection!!

I suggest that you consider using WPA instead of WEP and see if that has better results. It's better encryption anyway.

What version and patch level of Windows do you use?

Hello!
I have a toshiba satellite P-50 laptop running windows 8.1

I have recently run into a lot of problems concerning my connection to wireless networks. The first problem I had was that my computer would randomly disconnect from networks with a lot of devices connected. I have a mobile hot spot from verizon that my computer connects to with no issues. I read about problems with my current wireless card (intelR dual band wireless- AC 7260) so I updated my drivers from the intel website. Now when I try to connect to my home network, there is a red "X" next to the name of the network and it says "The capability of your network adapter does not match the requirements of this network." Rebooting the router has changed nothing.

please help this is getting very frustrating and I'm not very good with computers

I recently have not been able to connect to the Internet using my wired Ethernet connection. When the computer starts it shows "Limited or No Connectivity" and nothing I do seems to be able to change that. I've read a lot of things online about this but can't seem to find anything that works so I'm trying my own thread with details specific to my system. I'm connecting directly into an Ethernet port in my dorm room. My wireless works fine and I can access the Internet through it but it is much slower than my wired connection would be.

I'm running Windows XP Professional with SP 3. I did a clean reinstall/format of all my data about 4 days ago and reinstalled some software and it has worked fine up until now. I don't recall any changes that actually made it stop working but I tried to uninstall the most recent Windows Security updates I installed. I'm running Ad-Aware and avast Antivirus but I don't think either of those have caused the problem because my Internet was running fine with both of those before.

I have a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller as my Ethernet card and its drivers are up to date and it is not listed as having any problems in the Device Manager. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it once but that did not fix the problem. I did "ping localhost" and it came back fine which from what I've read means the Ethernet card is working.

I have tried renewing my ip address from the cmd prompt i have tried ipconfig/release, ipconfig/flushdns,ipconfig/renew and it didnt work my connection still keeps on going back to limited or no connectivity my DHCP is connected and i have default gateway ip i can get good connectivity if i reset the router by unplugging it but it still goes back can someone please help me.

Answer:[SOLVED] My local area connection says limited or no connectivity

You say it works when you reboot your router but goes back.

Is this instantaneously or over time, say a week.

What is the make and model of your Router?
Do you have more than one PC connected? If you have more than one, do the others have the same problem?

Can you do an ipconfig /all and post the results?

I just got back to my university and they changed the security certificate, otherwise not changes, in their wireless network. I've updated the settings (in-building and campus-wide support have confirmed), but my computer repeatedly (every 2-5 minutes or so) loses the network connection. ThinkVantage Access Connections says it is still connected to the network, but there really is none. I have tried disabling Access Connections, but AC is not the problem. It works fine at home, it worked when I was out of state this summer, and it worked on campus in the spring. If I do not use AC I need to log off and log on again to re-establish a connection; when I use AC I can simply use the detailed view, click "Find" and then reconnect to whatever access point seems to have the strongest signal. This always works. Nobody I have talked to have heard of this problem on campus and campus IT support have no information on cases such as this. However, there are very few students with ThinkPads and I'm thinking perhaps there is a compatibility issue? Or is there some kind of setting in AC (or elsewhere) that I can change? I'm getting very tired of reconnecting every now and then - yesterday afternoon I probably did it 25+ times...! Please, your advice - really, any comment - is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Per Bylund I'm on an X61 with Win Vista Business SP 2; all drivers are updated to the latest version and I have all Windows and T... I have been having problems trying to connect to the internet on my pc. Up until awhile ago I was able to connect but suddenly I have been getting a limited or no connectivity on my ethernet connection. I originally had windows 7 on my pc. I had checked the router and the modem and reset them because I believed that was the problem but after that I still got a the limited or no connectivity.
I thought maybe the router or modem had broken or maybe the cable was faulty. So I had my friend bring his laptop and an extra cat5 cable. We pluged the laptop using his cable and my cable to the modem and it worked with the laptop. We tried again with the router and they both it worked with the laptop.

I thought maybe it was because I had gotten a virus on my computer. So I decided to a do full clean sweep on my computer and downgrade to windows xp, I got tired of windows 7 and saw this as a reason to make a clean break. As soon as windows xp had finish installing I got the same limited or no connectivity.

I checked the ethernet card on my pc and I decided to buy a new one and installed it. As soon as I finished installing it I got the same limited or no connectivity.

I have had all of the connection settings on auto detect and still no connection. I had copy the ip address and dns and gateway address from my friends laptop when he had it plugged into the router and modem and put them in my desktop and it gives me a connected status on my modem but it still won't let me get on the in... Hi,

I'm using an Acer Aspire One Laptop which has suddenly started running very slowly and taking a long time to shut down and restart. I'd like to update all the drivers and malware software but can't currently get online.

When connecting to my usual wireless network I get the error: "The connection was unsuccessful. This computer currently has limited connectivity to NETWORKNAME".

If I click on "troubleshoot problems" the ultimate outcome is "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network adapter".

Connection via an ethernet cable isn't possible.

If I run ipconfig /all I get this:

Primary Dns suffix: (blank)
Node Type: Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enabled: No

Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface

Media State: Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS suffix: (blank)
Description: Teredo tunneling Pseudo-Interface
Physical Address: 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0
DHCP Enabled: No
Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes
Grateful for any advice.

Many thanks,
Sam

Answer:The connection was unsuccessful. Limited Connectivity. Adapter Problem

You could be describing exactly what is happening to my PC at the moment. Driven me mad all day. Work from home, so no internet access is beyond frustrating.
Worked fine on Friday, when I started Pc on Saturday wouldn't connect to internet. Not uncommon and I thought all it needed was a router reset. Left things all day Sunday came to the system this morning and have tried literally everything and followed so many supposed fixes, all to no avail.

I have almost exactly the same scenario as OP and similar ipconfig results.

Help please?

Greetings. Yesterday, my router started to act up and I continued to connect fine, but with limited connectivity on every device. Since then I have tried a number of things, including the obvious choices like hard resets and rebooting on both ends. After a while, the connection returned to normal on my other devices, namely an iPhone, Kindle, and Playstation 3. The router is a Netgear Wireless-G WGR614 v9. All display lights are green, including the wireless signal, but the internet one is orange. I have also tried disabling my Kaspersky antivirus software. However, my Windows 7 Asus G73jh computer still seems to be experiencing some issues. Namely, it will alternate between connected with internet access and limited connectivity; with either profile it does not receive or send data. I got a message a few days ago concerning an ip conflict, but I was wondering if perhaps it would fix itself as it and other devices are set to automatically choose IP addresses. I have tried some command prompt fixes, namely ipconfig /all and renewing the dns, but with little success. I have noted that logs tend to give back a "media disconnected" message too. Currently I am connected using a wired ethernet connection, so it doesn't appear to be an ISP problem. Here is the ipconfig when connected via wireless, as well other general info. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently purchased a Pavilion 17t at Costco. Overall, I'm liking the computer. But it has one major issue, that is unacceptable for a laptop computer. The wifi keeps not working. I haven't found a pattern to this either. I will be connected to my wifi network, and then suddenly the internet will stop working. It still shows connected to the router, but can't reach the internet. I have contacted HP support twice about this now, and their solution has not resolved the issue. The BIOS has been updated, the driver has been updated, Windows 10 has been updated, the wireless driver has been uninstalled and reinstalled. I still have the issue. If I attempt a restart when this happens, the restart takes a very, very long time. I've clocked it at 2 minutes before I did a manual power button restart on it. But the restart issue seems to happen every time the wifi issue happens(assuming I do a restart). I've tried turning the wifi off and on, and that proves difficult. It will often turn back on as soon as I turn it off, or not respond at all to my attempts. If I connect a wired connection to the laptop, I am able to connect to the internet again. All other devices on the wireless router will continue to work fine when this computer does not. What would be my next steps to try and resolve this issue? Answer:WiFi limited connectivity issues (Intel AC 3165)

(Edits: Add product and OS info, correct a few grammatical mistakes. Add the "Click 'OK'" step.) Alright, I've been all over the internet trying to fix this as I had the same experience. I've found a solution and I signed up on these forums just to post it. This problem has been a nightmare and I wanted to share. My machine is also the HP Pavilion 17 G1337-CL, which has the Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless ac3165. (I did make one hardware change by swapping out the HDD for an SSD) The problem that I had was produced by Windows power management system. When I went just a few minutes without accessing the internet it would close down. I could have a browser window open, but if I was not actively sending or receiving data, the connection would shut down. This is the two part solution (Windows 10): PART 1Right-click windows start menuSelect "Device Manager"Open the "Network adapters" drop downRight-click "Inter(R) Dual Band Wireless AC-3165"Select "Properties"Select "Power Management" tabUncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Click "Ok" PART 2Right-click "RealTek PCIe FE Family Controller"Select "Properties"Select "Power Management" tabUncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Click "Ok" Restart the computer (don't know if it is necessary, but I always restart) That fixed it for me. I had found Part 1 on a number of forums, but I had to figure out Part 2 on my own. I have been connected to the inte... Read more

Hey everyone. I need some serious help, especially since I use my internet to make a living.

I recently installed some windows updates on my computer. I have a HP Pavillion dv6 with Windows Vista. After I installed the updates and rebooted the computer, the internet stopped working. It keeps saying "Connected with Limited Access". When I disconnect, and then reconnect, it says it is taking too long and eventually does not connect. Diagnosing the problem does nothing.

When I go to view the status of the connection, it tells me that the IPv4 and IPv6 connections are Not Connected. I have tried unchecking those specific drivers found on the adapter properties, as well as some command prompt scripts I found on google, and nothing seems to suffice. I would like to avoid spending tons of money to get this fixed. I know there are ways to fix this, I just havent found them yet.

Please help? (If you give me directions, please spell them out in a way I can understand them. I am pretty well versed with basic computer issues, but some of the other stuff I have read online has gotten me clueless. Thank you!)

Answer:Having issues with IPv4 and IPv6 connections, limited connectivity

Also, when I run ipconfig/all on my command prompt, this is what I get:

Primary Dns Suffix.......:
Node Type............: Hybrid

WINS Proxy Enabled.......: No

Thats all I got. Most people get a ton of other stuff, but for some reason, nothing else shows up. Maybe that will help.

Also, my adapter is a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN.

When I pull up my Wireless Network Connection Status, here is what it says in the General tab:

I have had this problem for years (4 years to be exact). So how do I fix that:Basically it says:"State of the connectionLimited or no connectivityYou might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. This problem happens because the network did not attribute an address to the computer."

Answer:This connection has limited or no connectivity. You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources.

Can you still access internet?
It appears that your ISP is not running a DHCP server. DHCP allows you to request an IP address and DNS server addresses automatically. So, you may have to manually set the IP address and DNS server addresses.
