thinkpad yoga 370 - clean install - lenovo settings dolby missing presets

Question: thinkpad yoga 370 - clean install - lenovo settings dolby missing presets

We got users with "clean install" Windows 10 on the ThinkPad Yoga 370 instead of factory image. in Lenovo Settings, audio, dolby section, the presets that are in OEM load are all missing. we tried uninstall Lenovo Settings, Conexant audio driver, SIF, reinstall, same things - the enable button is there, but no profiles for dynamic, movie, music, gaming, and voice. anyone have seen this issue (or on other machines?), any idea how to reinstall those? i wonder whether we are missing some pieces.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, The T450s came with "Windows 8" installed and I freely upgraded to "Windows 10 Home Edition" following prompts. ---Need a clean install with a new windows version "Windows 10 Enterprise" so:. I created a bootable USB 3.0 with "Windows 10 Enterprise" on it.. Went into BIOS and changed the boot order. . F11 into boot utility, followed prompt and chose reset from media optionIssue:. Even after choosing the media type "USB FDD", the laptop just resets back to logon screenI have read a few posts about "Creating A restore Disk" etc, not interested in that. would like a clean wipe and fresh restart. I can re-download all the required drivers from lenovo afterwards. What are my missing out here? Is there another change required in the BIOS?

I failed to make a backup of the D:\ drive prior to formatting the hard drive on my Yoga 11S. I am now trying to reinstall all of the software/drivers that were previously installed. I obtained the majority of them through download, however I am having trouble installing Dolby Home Theater v4. I keep receiving the error message "PCEE needs to be installed" Is there some driver/software that I am missing that would allow me to install this? Thanks, Brad

Hello, Windows 10 just updated the Lenovo Settings app on my ThinkPad T530 (running Windows 10 64-bit Version 1607).  I no longer have access to Dolby Settings in the app...they've disappeared.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Lenovo Settings app, and also uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Lenovo audio drivers.  Nothing is working.   Please help, as my volume is very low and I need the volume leveling feature of Dolby Audio.  Thanks.

I recieved my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e a couple of days ago and it came with a lot of bloatware, or at least what I thought was. I started uninstalling a lot and everything seemed to work fine. I restarted it, but when it came back, I noticed the touch screen would not work. I went into the Device Manager and realized that one of my I2C drivers had the triangle with the exclamation was on one of them. After trial and error, I realized that disabling and re-enabling the driver would allow my touch screen to work. After a restart, however, I was back to square one. My wife bought her the same Lenovo Yoga and I have been compairing the two. I just noticed that I am missing the I2C controllers in the System Devices in the Device Manager as well. I have tried booting from an installation from hers and even copying the drivers and System32 folder to no avail. If anybody has any solutions, please help. I have tried everything I knew and everything I could find. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e missing I2C driver. Drivers from lenovo website not working.

Hello and welcome,

What happens when you install the i2c driver for your machine?  Before doing so please verify the machine type (20D9, 20DA) as there's another machine type option available.  Downloads found by using SUPPORT above and entering Yoga 11e.

Machine: T520 bought Feb. 2012O.S. W~7 Pro 64-bit I want to wipe the harddrive, buy a Lenovo W~7 PRO installation DVD, and do a completely clean installation. Lenovo User Guide (.pdf) Ch. 8, Adv'd Config, Installing Windows 7, p. 295 (212 of 298) says:Start Thinkpad setup, then choose UEFI versus Legacy, then insert the installation DVD. This obviously does not apply when the harddrive has already been wiped (necessary to 100% eliminate all traces of irreversible damage caused by a virus, including the re-installation partition (Q-drive). When an intallation DVD is purchased from Lenovo, is not the first step to insert the DVD ?!! Then presumably there is an installation wizard resulting in a restored O.S. ?!! If not, please tell me what surprises are in store, and where I can find a reliable written resource to consult !!! Thank-you.

Hello everyone, I purchased a Thinkpad Yoga that comes along with Win 8.1 and embedded product key. Will it be possible to plug-in an external drive and install Win 8.1 from a Win 8.1-disc? BUT I don?t want to use the key that comes with the disc, but the key embedded in the bios. This is my girlfriends Windows 8.1 disc and license. Nevertheless I could use it for the clean install. But I'm not sure, if the original key from my Yoga will work then. Thanks Hutson

Just got a new Yoga 720 15", fully loaded version. I saw on youtube (OwnOrDisown) that he was able to turn on the battery meter/gauge. I read that you open Lenovo Settings then click on the gear in the lower left. I have nothing useful in that section, and in the battery settings of Lenovo Settings there is nothing to add percentage to taskbar or similar. Windows 10 also has no built-in battery percentage display (really?) other than the never-convenient hover over the battery icon method. Another setting that seems to be missing is the ability to control the Fn key. All of my F1 thru F12 keys are acting as multimedia keys, not as normal F1 thru F12 keys. Pushing Fn + ESC does not change the behavior. Looking in Lenovo Settings, there is nothing under Input...literally nothing...it has a couple spinning wheels for a few seconds then nada. I made sure I have installed every single download for this machine from Lenovo, still no battery gauge option or Fn key toggle. I literally can not push CTRL + F4, for example. The Alt key also doesn't force the F4 function like I've seen before (like, intelligent Fn switching when you push alt). I'm going to go make sure my BIOS is up to date and will report any change, though I doubt there will be. Kind of scratching my head here. Otherwise, I'm loving this machine.

Answer:Yoga 720 15" - Lenovo Settings is missing some stuff

OK I got into the BIOS and disabled "Hotkey mode". This restored the F1-F12 keys back to their normal functions, and holding Fn works to do the hotkey functions. Previously, they worked as hotkeys only and pushing Fn + F1-F12 still did the hotkey. Sadly, Fn + ESC doesn't toggle modes. I guess there is no Fn toggle now...except in Lenovo Settings which is SUPPOSED to have it but doesn't.

Hello forum! This my first Lenovo product. I own a Lenovo Yoga 500 15-ISK and I want to make a clean install of it. However, I need some help please. When I first started the laptop, it automatically updated itself to windows 10 x64 version 1511 and there were a couple of issues after the update:Geforce experience crashes -which I solved by manually uninstalling every nvidia item from control panel and reinstalled from nvidia site- and touchpad lag -which I solved by manually updating to latest realtek audio drivers and restarted-. So I would like to make a clean install of the OS, and to get rid of some applications that I do not want.1)My preinstalled windows are windows 10 home. So, I need to get the "multiple editions" iso and make a bootable usb drive formatted with GTP partition? 2)Do I need to disable secure boot from bios? 3)I see those 7 partitionshttp://i63.tinypic.com/20g085w.jpgI read many posts online but I can't figure it out. Can I simply delete the first 3 (pls see image) and install windows 10 from scratch on this unallocated storage and leave the last 4 partitions as they are?  4)If I delete all partitions, will the novo key continue to work as it is now in order to enter bios? I am asking because I have a 256 GB drive and since it is the only drive in my laptop every GB counts. Thank you very much in advance

I normally have a C:/, H:/, J:/, N:/, X:/, and Y:/ drive, but in a mysterious phenomenon I have lost all of those. I have work to save on those drives, and they are inaccessible. I have attempted to go to Disk Management, but I am denied "access rights," presumably as I am not a licensed IT guy. If there is anything that can be done, I need it done.

Answer:Missing Network Locations--Windows 8.1, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

You needn't be a licensed (or even unlicensed) IT guy to use Disk Management, but I am guessing that you are using a work computer that is probably in a domain and you will need to get help from your IT department.

Hello, I have decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 Professional (x64) on my Lenovo X1 Yoga (20FQ). I'm currently pulling my hair out trying to install Windows 10 in UEFI mode, I want to do this so I can use the full functionality of the TPM chip and bitlocker. No matter what I do I have not been able to install Windows 10 Professional (x64) in UEFI mode, I've only been able to install it in legacy mode. I've tried multiple configurations of the BIOS in terms of disabling Legacy/enable UEFI OS to boot but when I put the BIOS in UEFI only mode the Windows 10 Professional (x64) USB key (that I've created using the .iso downloaded with the Microsoft Download Tool), the machine refuses to boot from the USB key or the PCIe-NVMe when in UEFI Only mode. Can someone point me to a guide for installing Windows in UEFI mode?

Just purchased a refurbished T420 with win 10 pro updated from win 7 pro, am wanting to do a clean install.
Anyone running a T420 on win 10 would appreciate any advice.
my only concern is obtaining correct drivers or will windows install them.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T420 clean install after upgrade.

In general Windows looks up drivers from an evolving database and provides them.

Occasionally the driver version is inappropriate; much less frequently a driver might not be found.

If all drivers are found without problems, do nothing more about driver maintenance.
We (almost never) recommend the use of driver scanner tools.

Note the Win 10 version on your PC may not be the newest major build; if so the iso you download may be newer, and might give rise to new issues.

Windows key + X, winver)

After a smooth clean installation of Windows 8.1 and loading all the Lenovo drivers, software, and apps, the system runs extremely well except in the Lenovo Settings Metro App, I no longer see the option of battery life protection (to charge only up to 50%). In addition, in the Windows power settings, there are only four power profiles: high performance, balances, power saver, and fly mode.  I do have Lenovo Power Management Driver and Settings Dependency Packages installed.  Lenovo's System Update does not show any missing installations. I wonder if anyone can give me some clues. Thanks.

Answer:Power settings missing after clean install of Windows 8.1 on Helix

The battery health mode setting was removed.  We don't support this setting anymore.

The preload comes with a couple additional power profiles that we don't make available except in the preload.  However they are not anything special.  You can create your own power profile(s) in the Power control panel to do whatever you want them to do - idle timers, CPU speed, etc.

Hi!I did a clean install of windows 8.1 after installing a new SSD to a lenovo thinkpad yoga, and I cannot seem to install any intel drivers. This is a serious problem, because I can't use connect to the internet, and if I cannot do so, then I can't use the auto-update functionality. Additionally, I cannot even install the auto-update driver. I tried installing the SCCM .INF files as well, that didn't change anything. I'm at my wit's end here. Anybody got any ideas?

Answer:Cannot properly install any Intel drivers on lenovo thinkpad yoga

If you can borrow a USB to ethernet adapter, you could try updating over LAN. As for the driver, i have mine working on a TPY12 with a fresh Windows Install. Before doing the install I added the driver to the Win8 install USB, and during the Win8 install there is a point where you can load a driver. This worked fine, but after installing and doing a million Windows and SysUpdate updates the Wifi driver update keeps showing. I've tried installing it a few times, to no avail. Wifi still works, so for now I'll just have to ignore that update.

Worst case, just install IMGBurn.  Should be perfectly adequate.

Just be sure to do "custom install" and opt out of OpenCandy (or be running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, which will automatically prevent it).  Sorry... the product is fine, but like many vendors the "bundle" is crap.

Hello everybody, my first post, please be gentle ;-). I have recently acquired new T430 (N1T8BPB, already shipped with Win8PRO 64 PL preinstalled), after purchase i upgraded original 500GB hdd with new samsung 840 pro drive. After that, I did full clean reinstall of OS  (from MSDN media, OS license burned in EFI was properly recognized). Everything went fine, after initial OS installation I ran full system update, then installed lenovo update manager and downloaded/installed all software which popped up (bios and drivers, including lenovo settings dependency package, ver 1.0.5.6). After that, I've installed lenovo settings and lenovo support from Store, and ran into following problems: - My lenovo settings power / camera / audio doesn't work at all (screenshot from power menu attached, audio/camera look exactly the same). - lenovo support doesn't automatically recognize my serial number (can't get warranty status etc...). I'm using localized version of Win 8 (PL). I've already tried to reinstall lenovo settings dependency package and lenovo settings / support metro apps, no effect. Summary: Factory preinstalled metro apps worked without any problem before I upgraded HDD to SSD and installed fresh OS on SSD (using the procedure described above). Anybody have any clue regarding those issues? Thanks!

Answer:T430, clean windows 8 install, lenovo settings/support metro apps problems

Did you check everything was working with the factory Win 8 installation etc first. Some drivers may not be available or hardware is not being detected. The most sure fire ways of doing a drive change are:- image the OEM drive to the SSD- use cloning software(in both cases all the partition need to be done.) For clean install other than above. Create the RECOVERY DVD's  and use them to install Win 8 again onto the SSD.There are a lot not using the OEM provided package and virtally all running into some problems including USB 3.0 not supported or working. Someone pretty well needs to see the various screen to see what if anything is wrong with the generic install as it finished.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

Answer:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I don't see why you want to update your graphics drivers. If it works, it works. If there aren't any bugs there is nothing to worry about. And as far as gaming performance goes, it is still going to be slow and barely going to make a difference. If the generic drivers from Intel, Nvidia or AMD work use those. But make sure that brightness keys etc work correctly.

Hello, I have been having a large amount of trouble with my Thinkpad Yoga in that I have not been able to access the majority of the applications for a while.  I have tried solving the problem, however after a number of failed attempts, I decided I would rather get rid of the bloatware anyway and do a clean re-install. However, I am unable to perform a clean reinstall as no media came with my purchase.  Where can I get a copy of windows 8.1 to perform a clean reinstall?

Answer:Clean reinstall Windows 8.1 on Thinkpad Yoga

I would think the described methodology to create recovery media and reload a Lenovo Think system with Microsoft Windows 8 preload is clear enough? http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT076024]

I got my X1 yoga with OLED almost one month ago. Under Lenovo Built-in App, Lenovo settings, there is a color settings to adjust for viewing needs and eyesight protection. I like the option of Blue Light Cut for Office, which adjusts the blue light output. However, from just now the color settings didn't work anymore. Whatever option I chose, the screen color keeps the same. I called Lenovo tech support, and they escalated me from basic support to premium support. Then they surprised me by stating that I need to pay $199 for this one-time service. I argued that 1) I am under warranty coverage and 2) Lenovo settings are one of Lenovo products, not a third party software. I am not asking a software from other companies. But they still insisted that warranty only covers hardware issues.  Alright, this is Lenovo, which claims to provide high-quality service to their clients. Now I have to fix the problem myself. I created another Windows user, but no luck with the color settings. Does anyone have idea how to fix the issue? Many thanks.

While I like most things about my Yoga 14 notebook, it has this annoying habit of going to sleep about 1 minute, even when it's plugged into a OneLink+ docking station.   I have the OS updated to the latest Windows 10 Creator's Edition and all device drivers up-to-date.   It's done this since I bought the machine earlier this year and I haven't been able to figure-out how to get it to honor the sleep settings in Windows.   Is there a BIOS setting or something that is forcing it to go to sleep after 1 minute?

Hi I just got my thinkpad yoga 14 yesterday and I was able to use it for about an hour or so then I shut it down.  I tried putting it on later but it refuses to come on. If I connect the AC adapter, the red thinkpad light would blink four times and if I press the power button, the red light and the keyboard lights comes on and good of almost immediately.  I've just got this for a few hours and this problem is really frustrating. Is there a quick fix without returning.  I bought the laptop from Lenovo US and I'm in Nigeria, I feel returning it would take time which I don't have. I need the laptop for work.  I've tried the reset hole, I've also tried removing the battery and pressing the power button multiple times.

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 Won't Come On

Hi janonymousone.

Can you please share the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?

Is this problem, that you can turn on the machine, comming from time to time? Is the machine operable, but sometimes when you shut it down does not turn on? Or is it complete not working right now?

If it boot and works for time to time, I will check any BIOS firmware update for the computer just in case. I would also check that if it is getting if it is getting hot more than usual.

If it complete useless right not and if you have changed the battery, pressed the reset hole button and it still does not turn on, it seems that you need to send it to the repair center to me.  For what I can see there is a Nigeria phone on the "Contact Us" page on the support site. Call them to see what options do they give you.

Hi, I use my thinkpad to teach. I have downloaded PDF annotator as I need to annotate PDFs while teaching (class exercises etc). However, when I connect to certain projectors (with HDMI connection on the laptop) with PDF Annotator open , the program first of all slows up and then bluescreen crashes. I cannot workout whether it is the Annotator software causing the computer to crash or the HDMI connection to the projector. However, while working on PDF annotator without connecting to a projector it seems to work fine. I would be really grateful if anyone has encountered this problem and knows a way to overcome it! Many thanks  Des

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - Missing Screw

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

From looking at your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual it appears that the missing screw just holds the cover in place so it isn't a critical fastener from what I can see.  The missing screw is a M2 x 9mm, flat-head, screw which you should be able to get at any local computer repair shop.

For your reference here is a link to the Hardware Maintenance Manual.   The information regarding the back cover starts on page #63.

Hello everyone, I have new Lenovo ideapad yoga 900 notebook (Core i7, 512GB and 16GB RAM). When it was new, the speed was awesome. However, with passage of time, altought the speed is still good but when compared with the speed when it was new, it is bit less. May be it is because of cache files etc.  On mobile in similar issues, I always use Clean Master app. I found out that same can be installed on Windows too using emulator. Seems like Lenovo, for some probably sincerely hillarious reasons, has decided to put out the P40 to European markets only in FHD, WITHOUT the option to upgrade to wqhd.  This decision, to me, seems to render the whole equipment useless and leaves me wonder to whom are they making their laptops for? My first guess would have been customers.. but the more I think about it the less I believe it to be so.  If there's someone from Lenovo listening, here's something to consider: Putting out P40 in US only in WQHD and not even giving that as an option to European markets is just simply silly. Also, as you produce another viable option for anyone who's looking for an alternative for Surface Book, which is the Yoga 460, I'll give you a tip on that too: you probably shouldn't max it's ram to 8gb but let it go w-i-l-d on the full 16.  You almost had it right. Close. But no. Not this time.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad P40 Yoga only FHD in Europe?

Yes that is also one of the decisions I just do NOT understand! Just for completion if Lenovo decides to read it: Thinkpad is mostly business users - I get that. But the TP line is also advertised as "high end", especially the X1C. So why on earth does the whole TP line come with Intel 520 graphics ONLY (in Europe !?). At least for T and X series there should have been either an Intel CPU with IRIS or dedicated graphics aimed to provide high erformance for those who want it and are willing to pay for it.

My laptop doesn't turn on anymore. Here is what I have to do to turn it on (I tried many sequence of steps, but this is the only one that works every time):-Disconnect battery and CMOS battery-Press power button ten times, then press and hold for 30 seconds-Connect power adaptor and press power button At this point, my laptop turns on, but I have to reset my time and date in BIOS (of course this is normal since I disconnected the CMOS batter). Once I turn my laptop on, my batter shows that it is charging and it is at 100%. I dual boot and both Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 show the batter charging at 100%.As soon as I unplug my AC adaptor, the laptop turns off again and I have to repeat the sequence above again to turn it on. This happens consistently. However, if I shutdown my laptop the right way without unplugging the AC adaptor at any point, it turns back on normally. This happens of both my Linux and Windows OS. What I've tried:-Uninstalling battery drivers and restarting my laptop-Updating to the latest power management drives from this Lenovo websiteI also read that some HP laptops have software issues that doesn't allow the laptop to switch from AC adaptor mode to battery mode. I believe this might be the issue I'm seeing, but I couldn't find a way to check this setting. I don't think this last detail is related, but when I shutdown Windows, I see a message saying:Closing 1 app and restartingAsusSGPLusBTServerThis app is preventing you f rom restartingAlo... Hey Guys I'm rather confused about the pen support for the new Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15. I've read quite a bit about it and find the information quite inconsistent. Some say it does support active pen some say it will in april and some say it doesn't. What I would like to know:A.) What kind of pen technology does the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15 support atm?B.) Are there any changes in sight? / When? / What changes?C.) Can I write on it while resting my hand on the screen aka has it palm rejection?D.) How good is it for note taking? Can it keep up with my writing speed? Links to videos where I can actually see it being used / tested would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 15 Active Pen

From what I know there isn't too much information out so far. But here's what I found out. First off, the current Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 don't support pen digitizers at all, and will not in the future.Secondly, the Toshiba Encore 2 Write apparently uses the same technology. See this thread. Here's what I know:- It's called Wacom "Active ES" as in Active Electro Static.- It's battery powered. Unlike Wacom's older technology, you need a battery in the pen.- Palm rejection is more of a driver thing and not the technology. So it works, basically.- People say it feels "different", not sure if that means better or worse.- Precision is apparently very good, perhaps even better than the older tech without battery.- Pen lag (speed) doesn't seem to be an issue. Might even be better than the older technology. Other than that I personally couldn't find any information about whatever will be built into the Thinkpad Yoga 14 and 15 Only that they call it "Active Pen" and that it will be out in April. Also that the displays will support something called "anypen" which basically means you can use any pen-shaped metal object to write on the display. But that isn't really of any interest to me because I want pressure sensitivity.

Apparently many customers are confused about the differences between the three TPY 14 models: 20DM009GUS,  20DM000VUS, 20DM008UUS. Digitizer support? Backlit keyboard? IPS display? Physical buttons above the trackpad? Often the Lenoco CS and the customer reviews give contradictory answers. On lenovo website, there are 25 questions asked about this computer but 0 answers posted. Why don't Lenovo tech people answer some of the questions? This situation has wasted a huge amount of customer's time and has probably even deterred many customers from buying this computer and caused many unnecessary returns. It's just a mess. Maybe either Lenovo or Bestbuy should make a comparison table and highlight the differences between the different models.

Can I use Samsung 950 Pro M.2 in TPY 460? I'm also trying to make a final decision between 15 and 460 so I made a list of pros and cons:(+) Yoga 15 pros:- 15,6" screen- possibility to use both 2.5" SSD and M.2 SSD. I'm planning to use Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (data) + Samsung 950 Pro M.2 256GB (system) combo. Does it makes sense? Is it possible? I've seen on the Yoga documentation that Lenovo doesn't recommend using M.2 as the booting drive.- max 16GB of RAM- design, build quality etc..(-) Yoga 15 cons:- Not Skylake- No UHD screen- No DDR4- No pen(+) Yoga 460 pros:- Skylake!- WQHD (2560 x 1440) screen- active pen bay(-) Yoga 460 cons:- I'm not sure if both M.2 SSD and 2,5" SSD can be used. Can it? Is it possible to use Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (data) + Samsung 950 Pro M.2 256GB (system) combo?- only 14"- probably higher price- max 8GB RAM. I've heard 16GB works good too, is that true?- No DDR4. Really? How comes it's Skylake and still LPDDR3? Isn't it a huge performance step back?So... it's not an easy decision. Plus I've never seen either of the models in real. Basically what makes 460 better in my point of view is the Skylake platform and the WQHD screen. What about the build quality? Are these two similar in thi... Read more

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15 M.2 details + TPY 15 vs TPY 460

16GB RAM works in the Thinkpad Yoga 460.I have heard accounts that m.2 does work in conjunction with the traditional SATA port as well for the 460.

I was in a meeting and stopped using my laptop for around 10/20 minutes or so. When I went back to my laptop to type, the Fn key was stuck; pressing space toggled the backlit keys. I tried pressing Esc to turn on/off the FnLk, but the problem was still there regardless of whether FnLk was on or not. Then I restarted. However, the Fn key does not work at all now. Pressing Fn in combination with F1-12, space, or esc does not do any of the functions it should do. Pressing F1-12 without the Fn key doesn't do any of the special functions either. When I changed the settings so that the functions were the default on the F1-12 keys, they worked, but I like having the default of F1-F12 stay as they were instead. I went onto the BIOS and switched the Fn key with the Ctrl key. Ctrl+ the other keys worked for the functions including the backlit keys, but I also am used to the default key positions. Actually, my Fn key started to spontaneously work just now. But it's stuck. Is the problem in my keyboard?

Hi.  Since yesterday, my Fn key has stopped working.  I have tried plugging in an external keyboard and it stil does not work.  I tried switchng the Ctrl key and the Fn key in the Bios utility and this allows me to use the Fn features with the Ctrl key, but then I lose the Ctrl key function. So the key itself is not working, but the fact that the Fn key does not work on an external keyboard leads me to believe it's not a hardware issue. Any ideas?

Ok so i just recieved a thinkpad yoga S1. The one i got was the one without the digitizer pen automatically installed into the computer's side. The pen came separately and its the exact same one as the one used with the version that comes with the pen. I dont know the product code or even what its called. Which driver do i install and how can i register the product? Also, since the version i have has like a little black piece where the digitizer normally goes is there any way i can take it out and be able to accomodate the pen that came seperatly?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 digitizer help

I think there is only two options it either comes with the pen or it doesn't. The one that doesn't have the pen built into it doesn't support the pen because of the panel used. That is waht I remember when I was researching into this unit.

I?m currently experiencing issues with inconsistent digitizer pen pressure/sensitivity.When painting within CS6, the strokes will suddenly and randomly grow thick and bold, despite brush settings for opposite results, and without a change in the pressure I apply to the screen. I am running CS6 on a Lenovo ThinkPad S1 Yoga, with a Windows 10 64-bit OS.Is this an issue with my Lenovo, Photoshop, Windows 10, the pen, or something else? What steps can I take to resolve this matter once and for all?

Hi

Maybe you can try updating some of the driver related to the Pen.

There is the Wintab Driver for Windows 10. Check if you need to update it.

Other thing that also may help is doing some "trial and error" with other pen related software, link using Inkscape and configuring it with the pen just to try it out.

Welcome to the forums!

On my system, this setting is in the One Key Optimizer program. Does your computer have this program? The setting is under the tab shown below.

how do i get to my laptop [thinkpad edge 0302-45u] back to factory settings with a clean hard drive. including also the os windows 7 back to factory setings. i have minimal computer knowledge. i backed up everything i needed already on a usb storage device.

Answer:[thinkpad edge 0302-45u] back to factory settings with a clean hard drive. how?

You need the backup disks, unless you have a recovery partition.  You should have been prompted to make these when you first booted the computer. If the computer is under warranty, you can have Lenovo send you recovery disks.  If not they are some $50 or something like that.  If you are like me and think it is stupid to repay for something that is already yours, you can proabbyl find windows7 legitimate downlaods on the internet somewhere.  I have seen links for them before on sevenforums. But I never actually followed them,  You can then use your key on the sticker on your computer to reinstall.  Though this will not result in al the extra crap lenovo ships with their computers (though I think it is all crap anyways... including windows).

My Thinkpad Yoga 14 Ultrabook ignores its trackpad settings after resuming Windows 8.1 from sleep. As a result the mouse pointer moves extremly slow and insensitive according to the default settings. To reactivate my acceptable settings I have to go tocontrol panel -> mouse -> UltraNav and click OK.This is very anoying. Can the driver be fixed? I am using the latest version already and it seems to be broken!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 14 ignores touchpad settings after sleep on Windows 8.1. Driver broken!

Since I wrote this bug report from another computer I just notice now that the UltraNav tab is actually called ThinkPad in my mouse properties, so I have to click ok incontrol panel -> mouse -> ThinkPad .

The other day I was closing my ThinkPad Yoga, and I noticed a bad-sounding crunch. I tried opening and closing it again, but there didn't seem to be a problem. But I noticed today that something definitely has happened. Now, my hinges are out of alignment with one another. The right hinge looks OK, but the left hinge looks kinked forward. This causes the screen to be lopsided when in laptop mode, but it it also noticeable when the laptop and screen is flattened out. See in the the following image how the right hinge is flat, but the left hinge is kinked up?  Is there anything that can be done about this?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad S3 Yoga 14 hinges are out of align...

Ouch.... that's gotta hurt  I just grabbed my TP Yoga 14 to see if there is a way, without forcing it, to turn it into that position and it is not possible. Maybe it is time to send you machine to the local Lenovo Service Center and ask if the warranty will take over that. Regards

My laptop's screen is shattered and is no  longer protected under warranty. I have been having a very hard time locating the correct replacement part for the model which is a ThinkPad Yoga 12. I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction, as replacing a screen is far cheaper than buying a new laptop. cheers!

My Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 Display turns off or goes to a lower resolution and then comes back up(I thought it might just be a hardware problem, but the fact that sometimes the laptop goes to a lower resolution makes me wonder if it might be something else).  The problem seems to be accentuated when the laptop is moved around, has not been working for a while or is in an awkward position.  This is REALLY annoying since at times the display will simply not come back up and the only solution is to force a shutdown.  When the problem is at its worse, the display won't even show when starting the computer up.  I need a solution ASAP, ghosting was terrible but I could deal with it, this problem now is completely unacceptable and diminishes my productivity greatly.
