Dell Inspiron 15 3565 Wireless Adaptor Missing.

Question: Dell Inspiron 15 3565 Wireless Adaptor Missing.

Hello,
I recently purchased a Dell laptop with windows 10. Recently after a windows update I cannot connect to the Wifi at all. On further investigation the wireless adaptor is missing from network adaptors
I tried to download and install the drivers manually but it still did not show up.I then tried checking if the Wireless adaptor was turned off in BIOS, but it does not even show up there.I tried rolling back the Windows update and restoring my PC to when I first got it but still the Wifi icon does not show up.Any Idea what could be wrong. The Dell Service Center is very far away from my location

Preferred Solution: Dell Inspiron 15 3565 Wireless Adaptor Missing.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This laptop had some user profile problems. Now sorted, but no wireless icon and no connection. I have uninstalled the WLAN driver, then downloaded the latest one from Dell. In DevMan, WLAN adaptor shows as working normally. In Network and Sharing Centre, Wireless Network Connection shows as Disabled. I right click and choose Enable - a panel pops up, says enabling then Enabled, but Wireless Network Connection still shows Disabled. Off out for a couple of hours - any thoughts welcome (I'm sure I've had this snag before, but memory isn't what it was!).

Answer:Dell Inspiron Windows 7- Dell 1397 Wireless Adaptor - can't enable.

Update. If I try to open the Dell Wireless Manager, it says no adaptors are present or enabled.

I had to reinstall Vista recently and since then have not been able to get wireless connection. I have BT Total Broadband and can only get internet connection with an ethernet cable to the hub. BT says there isn't a wireless adaptor installed but there was no problem before the reinstallation of Vista operating system. Could this be a driver issue and how can I get or download the relevant one?

Answer:Dell Inspiron Laptop 1545 Wireless Adaptor

Yes it sounds like no driver is installed.Go to Device Manager and look and see if you have a yellow exclamation mark next to any entry. If you have then this is likely to be the Wireless Adapter. You should have a motherboard disk that was supplied with the laptop if not click here=

Hi,

I am using a Dell Laptop Inspiron 1750. Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64 bit.

When ever I pressed the volume buttons, or caps lock button, or the wireless button I would get a small see thru popup window showing me the current setting of that button. Now the small see thru window is no longer appearing for the volume, caps, wireless...

Help. I would like the see thru windows to reappear. Would this be related to Dell QuickSet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before I start, I should mention this. My battery is dead, so I rely on my charger to keep my laptop turned on. If it gets unplugged, it shuts off without warning. Also, I'm using a third party ac adaptor.

A few hours before this happened, my laptop shut off randomly. Apparently the metal part on the charger itself got waaaaay too hot. Now, when I try to turn it on, it won't even light up the green light saying that the ac is plugged in! What's wrong with my laptop? Thanks for the help.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 1501 won't recognize AC adaptor

If you're lucky, the AC adapter is bad. Worst case scenario would be a bad motherboard. My advice is take it to a shop that has a universal AC adapter and a tip that works with your Dell and have it checked. Otherwise, you really have no way of troubleshooting the problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5160 that is 6 months old and now the AC adaptor will not seat correctly to recharge or provide AC power to the unit. I have replaced the AC adaptor and cord but still have the same problem. Any suggestion or knowledge about this problem?
Thanks

Answer:Dell Inspiron 5160 AC adaptor problem

Yep, you probably have damaged the power connection into the laptop. I suggest you IMMEDIATELY get this fixed, because that connector can do really bad things when one or more legs break free of the PCB! If you look at the adapter, you'll see it probably puts out around 20V at 3A or more. To give you and idea what happens when a short happens inside, here's one of two that I've seen here. Yes, the motherboard for this laptop had to be replaced, there is no "fix" to a failure like this. This one actually had flames coming out the holes in the back.

BTW, this failure normally occurs by carrying the laptop around with the power plugged in, or someone tripping over the power cord and putting a strain on the connection. The flimsy jacks are NOT made to withstand any abuse.

I've been using a Ethernet cable to connect to my computer for a while since it gave me a faster connection then wifi, but I also use the Ethernet cable for other devices, after a while I swap them I still could connect to wifi on my computer after a month pass I swapped it and I notice that my wifi is not connecting I have check it and it was nothing but a empty list, I have searched the web for a solution for this problem, but none of the solution worked.
I can no longer get wifi and I have no idea how to fix it, I tried to update the network adaptor but nothing happened, after all this,
manually connect to a wireless network gone missing and as well as my Wifi Network adaptor, the only thing that showing in my network connection is "Ethernet Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)" and "LogMeIn Hamachi Virtual Ethernet Adapter #2" those are the only 2 things showing please help!
Also I had my computer for years and my computer had a built in Wifi adaptor or so.

Hi, Bought a Thinkpad X61 from ebay (still under warranty, just). First impressions are good, it's a great machine and this is a nice example of it. I fitted a new hard drive, installed XP Professional, and have updated all drivers from the Support website. It's a 7673-H7G model. The problem I'm having is that Device manager doesn't display any Wireless Network adaptor.   In the BIOS, I have the Network > Wireless Radio > Enabled  I have the Wireless switch on the Front of the machine set to active  I've tried PC-Doctor for DOS (pre-Windows diagnostic), and for the Wireless tests it just says "N/A" I'd appreciate any suggestions, I've run out of ideas. This model DOES have an inbuilt Wireless adaptor, doesn't it?   Thanks for any helpJim

Hello guys

My problem seems to lie with my 'wireless adaptor card' that's in my Advent 4490 netbook. If the netbook has not been used for a day or so, when it boots up I have no 'wireless' connection - but if I open the netbook and remove the wireless adaptor and reinsert it ..... whoosh ..... all is well again !

What I would like advice on is:-
1 - whether it's worth getting another wireless adaptor card? or internal cable?
2 - does it matter which 'connector' the internal cable is attached to on the adaptor card?

Answer:Wireless adaptor card 'missing'

Try cleaner the gold connectors with an eraser, make sure you remove any bits of rubber left on them, use a Q-tip or tissue for that and avoid touching the connectors with your fingers.

There's a card on Ebay now, not saying buy it but if you look at the pic the cable should go to the left hand connector labelled 'Main'.

Hi

I've recently installed Microsoft XP Professional edition. I used to have a working wireless network adaptor and but now it's missing. I cannot see it under Device Manager. I've seen other posts that suggest updating drivers but if the OS cannot see this hardware how the hell do I make Windows find it?

Can anyone help?

It's a Toshiba laptop. According to Toshiba tech support the wireless network adaptor is an Intel Pro 2915.

Lately, a somewhat serious issue cropped up. I was working on my laptop, and suddenly, the wireless icon shows "limited". I restarted my laptop, and the adaptor was missing! Despite restarting many times, it failed to show up. Then after waiting for a while, i tried starting the laptop up again, and the adaptor is detected and functioning correctly. It happens randomly, sometimes when i needded internet the most. Does anyone have similiar experiences? I've done every software fix possible (update drivers, reinstall windows, try intel's driver, etc) and i can pretty much say it's a hardware issue. But i can't afford to have my laptop away from me now, so i'm wondering if my motherboard is to blame or is it a wlancard-specific issue (which i hope i can request from lenovo to send me a card to install myself). Thanks in advance!

Hi Thinkpadfreak,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with Wifi adapter on your ThinkPad Yoga.

Please check with running thinkvantage system update tool and update all the application and drivers showing in that.
Go to device manager expand network adapter and right click on Intel Wifi adapter and click on properties go to power management tab and uncheck ?Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power?.
If the issue still persisting then you can also check with updating BIOS firmware.

Hope this helps.

My home desktop is connected to a wireless router through AT&T U-verse and it's broadcasting just fine. I can see the name and everything when I try and connect on my laptop but there is always an error that brings me to a troubleshooting screen. I've made sure the password is correct by going to Start-Run, IPCONFIG and then typing my IP address into the address bar in my browser. I dont know what else I can do, I feel like I've tried everything! Help please.

Answer:Laptop (Win7 Dell Inspiron 1525) won't connect to desktop (XP Dell) wireless router

Sometimes, you need to replace the router.
Sometimes, you can call your service provider and ask them to take a look on line to see if the subscription needs to be refreshed.
But often, all that is needed (despite the fact that it is a lot of work) is to uninstall your existing system, then reboot, and reinstall everything.
You might also find success by looking at your device manager in Windows to see if you have any grey, red, or yellow flags by any related device. That may show you have a permanent hardware failure if you cannot restore it, then you are off to the store or your provider for a new cable modem or router.

Hello everyone I have a very pressing problem. I had Vista running on my Inspiron 1520 Laptop. I recently upgraded to Windows 7, ever since then I have had terrible trouble with my Wireless Card. The driver for the card often comes up as not being able to start I often get Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card can not start Code 10. I have read that this was a problem when reinstalling a OS or installing a new one with this card. I believe I may need a driver for the chip set or something similar. I also understand that I may have to swap back to Vista though I really do hope I don't. I do believe that a recent update from Dell has made this problem chronic as I did not have this problem when I immediately got the laptop back.

I really am hoping that I can get some help here as Dell is not bothered to help as I am out of warranty and they don't seem to care about this older model laptop.

Thanks again for all your help

I have a Dell Inspiron 10" notebook which does not have a CD rom.  When I got it I could go on the  net with it and it worked fine.  I had sound then too.  I was deleting some files the last person who owned it had left on it and now I have no sound and no Internet connection is recognized.  There was never a back up made and it will  not restore to previous working set up.  Is there a trusted site where I can download a fix?I found a usb drive on ebay that claims to have the Windows 7 starter on it and will fix whatever files I have messed up.  Do these flash drives work for my problem?  Is it worth buying?  Only $25.

Two weeks ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 3552 (Service Tag<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) with Ubuntu 14.04 SP1. It was a gift for my mother. She was not comfortable with using Ubuntu so I installed Windows 7 Professional (x64). The problems started immediately. Network controllers drivers were missing, universal serial bus (usb) controller were missing. I tried to install all drivers recommended by Dell Product Support but they there not right for me. For example: wireless card is DW 1801 Card 802.11gbn + BT 4.0, yet the Dell Support suggests drivers for 1707 which fails to install. I found the drivers for 1801 and was able to install them, but so far these things are not working on the laptop:
Universal serial bus (usb) controllerWebcamI suspect it is because I am still missing some drivers, probably motherboard or chipset. Could you provide me the links to them?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 3552 - missing drivers

Hello,
Here is a link to the driver download page for the Inspiron 3552.  it defaulted to Windows 7 64-bit for me but make sure it does the same for you.   Here is a link to the Intel Chipset Driver that goes with the Inspiron 3552 and Windows.  I think that is the driver most likely causing the problems you're seeing.
Here is a link showing which drivers to install and in which order.  Check that article out and see if it helps. Not sure why the support pages / utilities are suggesting the wrong drivers but you may want to simply install them manually, in the order that article recommends.
For the Dell Webcam Central software, because it's licensed you actually have to log into your Dell.com account to access / download it.  Here is a support article on the Dell Webcam Central software application that explains the entire process.
Let me know if this helps.

I own a Dell Inspiron 13-7352. The internal web cam stopped working a couple months ago (possibly due to downloading Windows 10, but I'm not sure). When I open my camera, it give me an error saying my laptop cannot find my camera (which you can see in the picture I have attached). The most basic fix that people seem to point to is to open up the device manager and uninstall the camera from the "Imaging Devices" or "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" tab. After restarting the computer, the camera should automatically reinstall. However, when I go into the device manager, my internal camera is not installed on either of those tabs, even after I click 'Show hidden devices'. Additionally, I have consulted the Dell support pages and taken each step including updating to the latest BIOS and chipset drivers. I also have gone under the privacy tab in settings and ensured that the laptop is not blocking the camera from being used for security reasons. From everything I've seen, it appears that my laptop doesn't even recognize that there is an internal webcam. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have recently bought an Inspiron 14 x64 based Laptop with Windows 7 64 bit OS (OEM) and receive this msg "BootMgr is Missing."
1. It was fine at a start, but I allot my partition badly C:drive is only 30GB and Logical drives is 182GB, so I wanted an increase of C:
2. Thru  a web forum I learn about "Partition Wizard Home Edition" downloaded it and use it to come up with a better partition. It was an easy success, quickly my C:drive increased with my desired size. But it was just a short relief for I noticed that my IE 8, YM, Windows Media Player, Mc Afee Security Center and others are not running properly or doesn't run anymore.
3. I resorted to a RESET to Factory Settings thru a DELL Local Back-up that comes with my unit. It did pretty good. All was just like the way it was. (I dont have to worry about my files coz I have an external modem to transfer everything)
4. Normal function is there for an hour, but to my curiosity I check on disk management and found out RECOVERY DRIVE is the one Active compared to C:Drive before.  I then Mark C:Drive as ACTIVE without knowing my OS doesn't seat there anymore (just I thought).
5. When I restart, there I got BOOTMGR is missing press CTRL+ALT+DEL.
6. And my problem is still not resolved, I tried to use a Repair Disk which I burned earlier but it did not work as well even if I choose boot from CD/DVD on boot options.

Hi again folks!
Since creating a thread on here yesterday (elder daughter laptop stuck in reboot loop) I've come across another issue with a different laptop.
This is a Dell Inspiron (Interl Celeron) with Windows 7 installed.
Being a pretty old laptop, it hasn't been used for some time (my youngest dautgher has since upgrade). However, her younger brother has spotted it and wants me to try and get it working (he's young so won't be doing anything to strenuous on it!)
When booted up, it returns the message BOOTMGR is missing: press ALT, CTRL and DEL to reboot/start.
F8 repair function will not work (possibly not installed in that Win 7 edition?).
I'm currently running all the memory tests, but can't see that helping me.
I was wondering if I can use a Windows 7 ISO disk that I'll be utilising for the other Windows Laptop issue?
Data on here is probably not worth keeping (handful of paint pics/word docs at best!).

Many thanks.

I reinstalled windows xp on my inspiron 6000 and it left me missing a bunch of drivers. I got the ethernet one but can't find any of the others.

I've run 'unknown devices'

Network controller
Unable to Detect, Hardware ID: VEN_8086&DEV_4220&SUBSYS_27218086&REV_05

Video controller (vga compatible)
Unable to Detect, Hardware ID: VEN_8086&DEV_2592&SUBSYS_01881028&REV_03

Currently the wireless network doesn't work, the laptop no longer supports multiple monitors and can't play back music visualizations or similar video graphics.

If anybody can help me resolve these issues i'd appreciate it.

On a side note--Does anybody know of a good program with which I can scan 10,000 songs in, organize them, automatically check for duplicates, and convert them all to a common format (mp3) from their current jumble of aac, mp3, m4a, wma, ogg, and more?

Thank you all for your help.

What software?

In Device Manager do you have any devices with yellow ! marks and if so what?

Well the problem is actually on Dell's part not yours and is rather easy to solve. Actually the recovery partiton is hidden so the old version of Data Safe is unable to detect it. Let's solve this problem niw:

1. Open MyComputer, Click on C: drive.
2. Open Program Files (x86)/Dell DataSafe Local Backup/Components/DSUpdate
3. Click DSUpdate (an .exe file shown as type "Application") (You must be connected to internet)

4. It will update from version 9.4.40 to 9.4.4x (where x > 0)

5. It did something with the partition.
6. It will tell you to "reboot". Restart the laptop.
7. Then launch Dell DataSafe Local Backup.
8. This new version will detect the partition and enable you to make recovery discs.
9. You will need two DVD's and it will take approx one hour to create the recovery discs.
Hope this helps !

Okay decided to do a fresh install on the wife's Dell Inspiron 1525.Which had Windows 7 x64 on it,But was released with XP and Vista only on it.
The only drivers I had to install after the fresh install of Windows 10 Build:10162.
Were SigmaTel HD Audio Codecs(Driver).Looked driver up and found a Windows 7 driver that installed and works.
And the Dell Integrated Webcam Driver and Software,Which was the Vista Driver and Software which worked fine.
Just wanted to share this information in case someone needs help on this old laptop.

I'm running windows 10.  The touchpad on my new Dell laptop has ceased to function.  There is no touchpad tab in the Mouse Advanced Settings Options.  I've downloaded the touchpad driver.  There is no Fn key associated with the touchpad.  Anyone know how I can get this working?  It worked when I first purchased the laptop one month ago.

Hi,

I have been reading for about 2 hours on your site and I haven't found an answer to my problem, so here goes...

I have a Dell 600M Inspiron, which strangely when I turn it on it says it is a D600 Series Latitude. Well anyway, I recently opened it up and cleaned the fan because it was running hot and it has happened before so I cleaned out all the dust and put it back together. I turned it on and it acted like it was going to boot up, then it went to the "Windows did not start successfully" screen. I have tried to start it up in every mode, safe, safe with networking, Last good config, and start normally and it again acts like it wants to start up then goes back to the "Windows did not start successfully" screen again. Today I tried it about 12 times and I did get another screen that says "A disk read error occurred, Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" and when I did that it went back to the "Windows did not" you know the one. Anyway, I did the F2 button on restart and I checked the screens, it says my Service Tag and Asset Tag are Not Installed.

Here are the specs on my laptop, let me know if you need to know about any other specs I didnít include.
Pentium M 2.00 GHz/600MHz
CPU speed 2.00GHz
Level 2 Cache 2048KB
System Memory 512MB @ 266MHz
Video Controller ATI Radeon 9000
Video Memory 32MB
Primary HD 60GB
BIOS Version A16

Thank you in advance for your time.
Patiently waiting your response,
Cynthia

That is the link for the wired ethernet driver. If you need the wifi driver, you'll need to run a system info tool like Unknown Devices or Everest, then attach the reports generated by the programs. That way we can see exactly which drivers you need; the Inspiron 6000 was several configurations and different options for the wifi adapter and we want to be sure to get the right one. While we're at it, you should take a look at your device manager and make sure there's no other question marks ? or exclamation points ! or red Xs.....

working on my motherinlaw's dell inspiron. won't boot. comes up with "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\c_437.nls
you can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD_ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."

i've tried going into safe mode and all of the f8 options, with no success. have also tried an external drive and the internal drive reinstalling windows, also no joy. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry, but I do not understand what you mean by the above.

If you were to google "c_437.nls", you would come up with a number of entries, all pretty much reporting the same fix using an XP installation CD, namely:

copy (your cd drive)\I386\C_437.NLS c:\windows\system32

I include a link to one such site:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic86668.html

The following link suggests a couple of other options for you to try if you wish:

http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/index.php/t93949.html

I do not know whether the file is a different version depending on the Service Pack level of the system and the CD that you use, so perhaps once you get the system up and running again, you may wish to check this out/replace the file with one from the ServicePackFiles. I think that it would not matter that the CD you use is not the one used to initially set up the Dell Inspiron.

I have a Dell Inspiron that won't start. It says it is missing its operating system.

Using the Windows 7 DVD that came with the machine I went through the repair Windows procedure 3 times. The first time it searched for restore points of which there are none because the machine has Rollback Rx installed instead. It then restarted with no change. I went through the same process but this time it said it had repaired Windows however; restarting gave me the same missing OS message. On the 3rd attempt it displayed the restored OS as being on D:\. I ran the diagnostic tool and it said no errors were found. Restarting gave the same error.

How can I get the machine to boot from D:\ or move the OS back to C:\ please?

Answer:Dell Inspiron won't start. Missing operating system error

How did that happened? Did you format your hard drive or something? How many drives do you have maybe its installed on another one.

If all else fails the only thing left to do is to do a system recovery or factory restore, if you are looking for a clean start then follow this guide: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Hi guys.
I have the Dell Inspiron N7110. Used the data safe app in windows to do the factory restore. It finished fine. Restarts and says bootmgr missing. I know what this means. But don't have discs nor any f key option to get into any recovery mode etc. I've already req dell send the factory recover discs.

I don't see how their own app broke this.

Hi buggs1a,

Welcome to Seven forums.

I apologize for all the inconvenience this issue has caused and promise you that I will do my best to resolve this issue to your satisfaction.

Dell Datasafe software should not have caused this issue. If you have made a backup on a external drive or CD and if it is still in the system make sure that you remove them and restart the system.

There is a different way to do a factory restore for the system based on Windows 7. Please check the link below which explains the same:

http://www.dell.com/support/troubles...cid=DSN_362066

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

Hi, I'm trying to do a factory restore on an Inspiron N5050, and the F8 menu does not have the 'Repair Your Computer' option, nor other expected items, such as last known good config. All it shows is the 3 safe mode options, and the boot windows normally option.

Dell's F12 menu is also missing an option to repair/restore.

I can boot the laptop to normal windows 7, but it's a black screen with a movable cursor. I get the same thing in Safe Mode, black screen, cursor.

I'm trying to figure out why the F8 menu is so limited. I can boot a Hiren's CD and get to a Mini XP desktop from there, and it works fine (no black screen).

Any help would be appreciated.

Machine approaching three years old and not continually used. A couple of weeks ago, it started missing characters when typing or it will type two characters and then highlight them so when you type again the first two characters are gone. Does this on both the on screen and laptop keyboard. Tried an external keyboard and it too acted the same way.
Here's what I've done - run diagnostics (no issues), downloaded and installed most recent BIOS, chipset, video and all other drivers. Have also in Device Manager deleted keyboards and rebooted with no change. All Windows 10 updates are installed.
Most of the time I have it plugged in and charge set to only charge when battery is approaching low.
Have not removed the battery and keeping it as a last option.
Any ideas?

Hi

Just have to double check that the laptop in question is the same one in the old post you tagged onto in a Dell Inspiron 6000? if its not the same model please let us know what model it is?

Will need the BSOD message if its still happening in full to know where the issue is coming from?
Can you boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and the laptop works ok or same BSOD?

Or if no BSOD then try the following and install the Chipsert from HERE, and reboot, then install the Network driver from HERE

Then look in Device Manager for yellow ! marks and name them.

The full driver list for that Laptop is HERE

Hi all,

I installed a new hard drive into my Dell Inspiron 6000, installed WinXP Pro SP2 and installed drivers.

I am having the same problem with my Network Controller. Only I have installed all the drivers and still see the yellow exclamation point for the network controller.

And for some reason my video controller is also having issues.

Network Adapter: Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller

Things I have tried:
1) Reinstalling the driver and letting it "repair" the installation. - No Luck

2) Opened Device Manager >> Network adapters >> right clicked the Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller >> selected Properties. It says the device is installed and running fine. - No luck

3) Repairing the Local Area Connection (right click >> Repair) and get an error message (see below). I have disabled and enabled it then tried repairing. - No luck

4) Installed the Broadcom Advanced Control Suite which still doesn't help.

Everest Info and Screen Shots:

Hi

I installed a new hard drive into my Dell Inspiron 6000, installed WinXP Pro SP2 and installed drivers.

I am having the same problem with my Network Controller.Click to expand...

Where you having Network issues before the installation of the new HDD and Windows? just wondering if its hardware failure.

Did you install the Intel Chipset driver first before the other drivers? if you didnt or I woudl also do it again, is to download the chipset driver and install then reboot and try your network drivers again, but this time if you have antivirus running then disable it.

Did you download the Broadcom utility or driver? just checking.

Also enter your BIOS and check your settings for network/ethernet being disabled, if in the BIOS menus it also gives an option to reset then do so as at times new hardware can cause the information in the bios to go funky, then recheck and make sure all bios settings are connrect then save and exit bios. Then try and install your Network drivers.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Local area connection missing, Dell Inspiron 1300

Is your wireless working? Go under your BIOS and see if the WiFi is enabled or functioning. Download any BIOS updates, WiFi drivers update an etc.. If all is done and you still have the issue. Buy USB WiFi NIC Dongle and test that and see if you can get LAN or WAN connection.

Hibernate missing after reinstall of XP, Dell Inspiron 1200

Howdy.

Just had a great experience with TSF solving a nasty virus situation with aplomb, thought I might try addressing another nagging issue.

About a year ago, I wiped and reinstalled XP from the disks. No big deal, I just wanted a leaner version of the prog on my tiny HD. (at the time, I've since upgraded) Which actually worked great. However, when I tried to use Hibernate, I got an error message ("not supported") and after a little searching realized it was probably a Dell thing, not a Windows thing, (Hibernate) or so it seems, and wasn't on the disks. The only problem is, I don't know where/how t get it back now.

Any ideas?

Thanks

PS: I did already go to Power Options to enable hibernate. It's not even there as an option. I mean, the software that makes hibernate happen is completely missing, does not exist, is not present, on my machine.

I know.

Weird.

Anyone?... Anyone?...

Hello there, After upgrading to Windows 8.1 i sadly found out that the MaxxAudio software is missing from my computer, is there any way to get it back? I've had it on my PC before the upgrade and i want to use it again.
Thanks in advance,-Asaf

Hello. MaxxAudio is included in the Realtek audio driver package. Download and install this Realtek audio driver which is for the Inspiron 5521 model with Win 8.1.
If that doesn't work there is no other way -- no separate download for MaxxAudio.

I have a Dell inspiron 2200 which has had the hard drive formated. It is running Win XP pro.I have logged the service tag no from the base of the unit onto the dell website and downoaded and installed the drivers for the built in wireless card. (Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card) The four bar indicator is in the toolbar and is switched on by FN+ F2 (the only difference i can see to prior the format is these bars are blue when they were green before.) The laptop is set as a static ip adress in the router and the mac adress of the card has been added to the wireless management tab of the router. The laptop balloon pops up saying that networks are available to connect to but none are showing when you click the icon. the router is working fine as my acer is conected to it now while im tyoing this.  I am having problems with my laptop with windows vista, can someone please help me out?  A couple days ago I had comcast install high speed internet with my modem and router, and my computer detected the network (along with other networks) and connected just fine.  The next day I accidently left my computer unplugged and the battery ran out. Since then the computer will not detect any wireless networks.  If I physically plug it in with ethernet it works fine, and I have other devices that connect to my wireless network.  I have tried disabling and enabling the wireless adapter under networks and sharing, but this did not work.  I have also tried to download the wireless driver again, but I'm not sure if I am doing it right (do I need to delete the previous driver? and how?).  I have also tried reseting the modem, router, and computer.  Any ideas? Please help.

Hi, My name is Savinder and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.
In addition to the resolution provided by Madhur Bung, you can also try enabling wireless network by pressing Fn+F2.
if it doesn't resolve the issue then try to run a Microsoft fix it.

Hi

Hope someone can help with this one because Dell can't. My laptop has a wireless card. I have a Hawking Wireless 54g High Speed G Router HWR54g, this is connected to a D Link DSL 504 router.

My problem is that I can only get wireless connectivity whilst I am in my own home. As soon as I take the laptop out of the house, although the internet says its connected to any unsecured network, the web pages are "not available".

This defeats the object of having a wireless laptop. As I am a total novice could someone shed some light on this one as I am going away soon and want to take the laptop with me.

The wireless card has been replaced by Dell but that has made no difference.

Thanks for looking.

Is the Wireless Card showing up in Device Manager?

Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop computer. We had it hooked up to wireless all most a year ago. Then we hooked it up via Ethernet cable. After a move, I am trying to hook it up via wireless. (Our cable hookup is two rooms over) The computer doesn't detect a wireless card. We bought the computer with an Internal PCI 802.11g wireless network card, Full Height. The antenna is hooked up into the back of the computer. I bought a 50" Ethernet cable to hook up the computer to download current drivers. After downloading the drivers from Dell, I still cannot find the wireless card on the computer. In device manager under network adapters I only show Intel(R) 82562V-2 10/100 Network Connection. I tried to see if the wireless was turned on, but the only thing I find on the internet about turning it on is to press (Fn) and (F2) together. My keyboard does not have a function button. Also, I am hooked up wirelessly right now on my laptop. The wireless signal is strong. Any help would be great! Thanks!
Lisa

Answer:Dell Inspiron 530 can't pick up wireless card

Well, if you don't see the wireless card either under Network adapters or perhaps Other Devices with an error, it's not being sensed by the BIOS POST.

Have you reseated the wireless card?

I have a HP Pavilion a1520n media center desktop PC bought new in Sep. 06 & a Dell Inspiron 1100 I bought about 6 years ago. I am trying to install the Linksys wireless on the Dell. I have ran the CD on the Dell first, & it failed to work, then the HP & it also failed to work. I need help installing it on the Dell so I can have wireless for my home network. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, papadee

Answer:Linksys Wireless G for Dell Inspiron 1100

I am guessing that the "CD" is the installation disk that came with the "Linksys wireless"? What is the "Linksys wireless"...a plug in card, a USB plug in...what?

It "failed to work" on both systems. In what way? What error msgs?

Have you checked the Linksys website to see if you can down load the necessary drivers?

Are you running XP?

Did you try to let XP install the device on its own?

Please try to be less vague about the facts....it makes it hard to know what is really going on!

Hi all,We have a wireless router at home (Virgin Media cable, 20MB: capable of 54MB) and the main PC is our home-based desktop.I have an old laptop at work, which I'd like to take home and connect to our network but it's not wi-fi enabled. So, I'd like advice on the best dongle please. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1150 running Windows XP (professional I believe). It has two USB ports (not sure if they're USB 2 though) and a PCMCIA slot.A reasonably priced adaptor is what I'm looking for and preferably from somewhere accessible from where I am; i.e Maplin. Many thanks in advance.

Hope someone out there might be able to help....

I have a Dell Inspiron 530s desktop and I'm trying to get it onto our Tiscali wireless connection. The connection works fine as I already have a laptop hooked up to it.

I've followed all the instructions that came with the installation disc with Tiscali and everything appears to be set up correctly, but it isn't managing to find any wireless networks (there are a number in our building so it should be finding several). The laptop works in the same room so it shouldn't be out of range.

When you go to the network connections screen, its status is listed as enabled, but it has a red cross by it. I managed to very briefly get it working when I connected it directly via the ethernet cable and then the connection survived when I unplugged it and the router sat right next to it, but then as soon as I set it back up in the room next door again and it died (difficult to have it permanently set up in the same room as it involves training wires everywhere.)

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

just this week i encounter the same problem with 2 laptop (both Dell Inspiron 6400). i did reformat to both (but not at the same time). the first one, after windows installation, i immediately install the chipset driver. then right after system restart, i install the wireless driver and was able to connect my wireless router. everything works fine. then i continue to install the bluetooth driver. but after system restart, my wireless connection has been disconnected. i tried to view wireless networks and refresh several times, but it will just gave me a message that "unable to find wireless networks.......". one thing i've noticed is that the light indicator for wireless cannot be "on". i tried to turn off and on the switch but it's still the same (led - off state). also i tried to trigger with the hotkey and nothing happened...

i might be wrong, but it seems that the bluetooth had cause the trouble, 'coz i did the same process for the other laptop. i was able to surf the net for almost 1 hour and after that i decided to install the bluetooth.again, right after system restart ---wireless disconnected.

i'll appreciate anyone who will give clarifications....

Answer:Solved: Another Dell Inspiron Wireless Problem

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Im reformatting for a friend, or rather, finishing what someone else started. I have the entire system online with the exception of TWO components, one of which is the wifi card. None of the Dell drivers work and I do not know what actual card is in the system.

Here is what's missing according to the device manager:

Network controller (wireless card I assume)
SM Bus Controller
I have downloaded all the "recommended" drivers according to the dell support system, to no avail. Im curious if anyone else has ever run into this? I have never had this kind of issue. Either windows upate finds it or the driver is available.

Thanks in advance,

chaz

Okay guys, i have been to many different forums and no one can find an answer for me. I recently deleted all partitions on my laptop and created a NFTS partition to install Windows xp media center on (the cd that originally came with the computer.) Before i did this, everything was working perfectly. Now, my wireless card will not pick up signals. When i turn on the wifi by pressing fn+f2 it says the wireless is on but the light does not light up next to the bluetooth (the bluetooth turns on and off properly when i press fn+f2. I believe that all necessary drivers have been installed and in the correct order. There isn't even a connnection in the network connections.

This is getting extremely fustrated because i have done this process many times on other computers, but i can't get this to work.

Any help would be greatley appreciated, thank you!

Hello,

My laptop will no longer conect to my wireles which it did 2 days ago--I have not downloaded anything but the wire less says that the signal is strong but it doesnt recognize the wireless. I ran spybot--and it found 21 problems but said that I was not the administrator of my own computer so i could not get rid of viruses and malware (How do I make sure I am the administrator--I know I set it up that way?) Also when i plug directly into cable without wireless it works great and my ipod works with the router so I know it's not broken. any help is appreciated thanks -chris

You need to get rid of HiJackThis 2.0.2 and then replace it with HiJackThis 2.0.4 and then submit a new entire log.

Why hasn't Windows Vista SP1 been upgraded to SP2 - which was released over 3 years ago?

i suspect you need the wireless driver
so connect to a router with a cable so you have internet

on the laptop will be a service tag number
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/en/identifyyoursystem

then goto the dell support site
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Home/NoDefaultOS

enter the tag number or choose from the options on the right

and then download the wireless driver

if you want to know what type of wireless adapter you have

then for the device labeled

right click on the device with a yellow!

from the menu choose

Then right click again and select copy
Copy and paste that information here

You should see a code similar to this

The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID. In this example:

I have Windows XP Home - Dell Laptop Inspiron 2500. Currently I am using high speed cable through Brighthouse/Earthlink. I want to go wireless and they told me that it will cost an additional $7.95 per month on top of the $45+ I am paying now for high speed. That's rediculous. I thought if you went wireless it would be less expensive. Any suggestions on a less expensive way to go?

I have downloaded SP2 and there is a new icon in my control panel saying wireless network connection. How can I determine if I have the card in my laptop that will allow me to connect wireless? Do I have the capability to even do this?

Thank you.

If the drivers you downloaded came from the Dell site that you have shown me in your screen shots. And you entered the right service tag to get to those drivers then they are the right ones. The problem lies in the current SP installed for Windows. I provided a link to download SP3 from Microsoft that can then be transferred to the machine in the same manner you are doing the drivers. This should clear up all the problems.

Can I use a:

Zonet 54Mbps 802.11g USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter (tigerdirect.com)

on a Dell Inspiron 3000 notebook computer running windows 98?

Thanks! (There is a USB on the back...but are they all the same?)

Answer:Dell inspiron 3000 too old for a USB wireless adapter?

usb

I think it probably has usb 1.1. It should still work, it should have a windows 98 driver to help the computer recognize it. Usb 1.1 isn't as fast, so it probably won't be able to connect at 54mbps. Usb 1.1 transfers at 12mbps so that would be the max speed probably. Usb 2.0 is 480mbps, much faster.

Hi
Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on how to get my wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card to enable on my network connections screen? About a month ago I pressed the f2 and fn key together to turn off my wireless and it seems to have done something as when u try to turn it on the same way it doesn't do anything? Also when I highlight the wireless network connection mini card in the network connections screen it says it disabled, I click enable this network device and the screen pops up to say its enabled yet when that screen disappears the connection is still greyed out and says disabled.
When I ask Ask my computer to diagnose the problem
It says there may be a problem with the drivers. I've uninstalled the drivers and downloaded them from the dell website and installed them
Again , still not working !!
I'm confused as everyone keeps saying on this forum to just press f2 and fn but it's not working , I would be grateful if someone could give me any advice to try and fix my problem before it sends me crazy !
Many thanks in advance

Has your Dell laptop got a broken keyboard... can't switch on wireless adapter by pressing F2?

This bugged me for months and didn't want to buy and fit a new keyboard. Finally figured out how to alter the BIOS settings to switch on the wifi card. Note you will need a usb keyboard plugged into the laptop to do this!

Reboot the laptop and press F2 on the external keyboard to enter the setup screen
find the wireless settings in the menu
there are two options here...
set it so that the wireless adapter is enabled but NOT that it can be toggled on/off via the switch (F2)
Apply then exit
When computer reboots right-click on network icon in system tray
open network and sharing centre
click on change adapter settings
right-click on WiFi adapter
choose connect/disconnect

Now treat yourself to a doughnut... you've just fixed it!
